The name of the group that claimed the attack offers food for thought. The group, which claims to be part of Al-Qaeda, calls itself the Battalions of Martyr Abdullah Azzam, the Palestinian Islamist who died in Afghanistan fighting the Soviets in the late 1980s. Azzam had no known links with any terror organisations or operations.

This is an odd choice of name, especially that earlier attacks in Turkey, Madrid and London were claimed by the Battalions of Abu Hafs Al-Masri, an Egyptian who was a former military leader of Al-Qaeda and related by marriage to Osama Bin Laden. It would have made more sense to claim the attack in Egypt in the name of an Egyptian, you'd think. So, why would the bombers go for a Palestinian rather than an Egyptian? This may seem as a minor detail, but it could offer insight into the identity of those who mounted the attacks.

New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman has urged the U.S. government to create blacklists of condemned political speech--not only by those who advocate violence, but also by those who believe that U.S. government actions may encourage violent reprisals. The latter group, which Friedman called "just one notch less despicable than the terrorists," includes a majority of Americans, according to recent polls.

If it was true it would be the usual sort of obfuscating that a whore rag like USA Today practices on a daily basis, but does anybody really believe that Jr. rating has gone up by 7 points in the past 10 days?? It has allowed a priest who served 21 months in prison for possessing child pornography to move back into a church-owned apartment near Corpus Christi University Parish. There's more: The diocese continued to keep him on the payroll while he was incarcerated.

That's a slap in the face to parishioners who have been asked to believe the church isn't coddling molesters.

Quite possibly Tony Blair rightly fears the real eventual possibility of impeachment and arraignment as a war criminal if he were ever to show even the hint of uncertainty over the rightness of his war crimes. But this is the route chosen by a coward.
