Thus far, much of the war on terrorism has been targeted at foreign nationals and sold to the American people on that ground. Americans' rights are not at stake, the argument goes, because we're concerned with "international" crime committed mostly by "aliens." With the DSEA, however, the Administration seeks to transgress both the alien- citizen line, by turning citizens into aliens for their political ties, and the domestic-international line, extending to wholly domestic criminal-law- enforcement tools that were previously reserved for international terrorism investigations. Then the whole shebang collapsed, killing a couple thousand more people as well, and mashing the remains together under tons of red-hot steel and concrete. And then, without having DNA samples from the thousands of other victims to check against, and without knowing who the hijackers really were, since even the FBI admits they were using fake IDs with stolen identities, we're supposed to believe that this particular smear off of the wreckage is proven to be a hijacker's DNA. If you believe this one, I have a war to sell you. And by the way, there is no DNA in hair, only in the follicle if the hairis pulled out, not cut. DNA is also destroyed by heat much lower than that of fire. |

2/27/03 IRAQ AGREES TO DESTROY AL SAMOUD MISSILES If Iraq destroys the missiles, then the UN is obligated to prevent the US invasion. It's time for UN Peacekeepers to go in, Peacekeepers NOT under US Control. BUSH SUFFERS FROM "VOTE-RIGGER" MINDSET Despite his declaration that he does not need a UN vote to proceed with a war in Iraq, President Bush is still trying to get one anyway. Bush needs the UN "stamp of approval" to make the war palatable to more people. But unlike a vote for high office, where winning means high office, power, and just how you win is not mentioned in polite company, a vote for symbolic value is a very different beast. It's HOW you get those votes that matters. Bush seeks the UN vote to give moral authority to his war. Because of that, the vote itself must be seen to be moral. Votes that are acquired by bribes or threats are not viewed as valid by the world. Indeed a vote acquired by bribe or threat undermines the morality and credibility of the entire vote. Bush and his cronies are working hard to get a positive vote on this latest resolution. But the truth is that even if they get such a vote, it will mean little, as the whole world is watching while Bush guts the US school and pension systems to offer small impoverished nations great riches for a vote for war. Add to that the threats to countries like France and Russia to "not interfere" and Bush's campaign for the second Resolution loses its moral high ground. Even if the Resolution is passed, its symbolic value is already voided by the means by which the US acquired the votes. 2/26/03 George Bush, you've got mail! The husband-and-wife reporting team asserts that Monsanto, maker of BGH, pressured WTVT to edit the story to be less damning to the company (some of the changes would've undermined the credibility of scientists and studies that link BGH in milk to cancer). Akre and Wilson refused, despite repeated attempts by the station to have the story altered and an offer to terminate them with full pay if they never spoke of their BGH findings. Finally, says Akre, when they threatened to report the station to the FCC for falsifying news, they were canned. The lawsuit was settled in August 2000 with the finding that Fox "acted intentionally and deliberately to falsify or distort the plaintiffs' news reporting on BGH" and that Akre's threat to blow the whistle on Fox's misconduct to the FCC was the sole reason for the termination. The station appealed and prevailed, the judge citing that there is no FCC rule or regulation that specifically makes it illegal to mislead, distort, or falsify the news." His war is running out of steam. Even the pundits at FOX News are admitting that Bush and his buddies have lost the propaganda war. Bush assumed Saddam would never go for inspections. But Saddam did, and the UN inspectors have not found any weapons of mass destruction that Bush claimed Iraq had. Powell shot himself in the foot with that dossier plagiarized from 12 year old student papers, and the mere fact that Bush has waited this long for the UN to rubber-stamp the war proves that Bush does not really see Iraq as a dire threat requiring immediate action. Yes, the UN inspectors found some missiles able to fly 15 miles further than the UN allowed. That still leaves a distance of several thousand miles before those missiles are a threat to the US. Bush wants those missiles destroyed. But with the US poised to invade Iraq, Bush is sounding a bit like Hitler demanding Poland disarm just in time for the Panzers to roll across the border. But the main reason Bush has lost the propaganda war is that he has lost the trust of the American people. Only days ago, Bush claimed a report by top economists vindicated his tax cuts for the rich. It took only moments to confirm that the report Bush cited does not actually exist. As Bush himself would say, "Fool me once......................." Trust is a funny thing. It can take decades to build and only a careless moment to destroy. And Bush has trashed not only his own credibility with repeated lies about Iraq and the economy, but the credibility of the government as well. People don't believe Bush any more. They don't dare take the chance. So what's a war-monger to do? It is clear that Bush still wants to start the war. He is not going to get UN approval. Too many nations are willing to veto the latest resolution. It isn't going to happen. Period. End of discussion. Unless there is an "event". You know, an 'EVENT". Something that will scare the UN and the world into backing a war against Iraq. Like another 9-11. Or another "Anthrax" scare. Only bigger. Scarier. Something so scary that people won't take the chance it ISN'T true. When it happens, count on Iraq to be blamed for it. But why would Iraq do anything now? Iraq knows a war with the US cannot be won. Iraq has done everything possible to prevent this war. Why would Iraq now do anything that would guarantee a war? Why would Iraq, knowing that Bush's push for war has stumbled, do anything that would give Bush the push he so desperately needs? The answer is that Iraq would not. Even if it had weapons of mass destruction, Iraq knows it cannot defeat the US military machine. Certainly Iraq's missiles cannot threaten the USA. Even more certain is that Iraq cannot find, let alone destroy, the fleet of SSBN Nuclear Missile Submarines that prowl the world's oceans. Remember those? You and I are still paying off that $5 trillion the US Government spent on a nuclear deterrent supposedly able to destroy an attacker. Each SSBN carries 192 warheads, each warhead 5-10 times the power of the bomb that destroyed the city of Hiroshima. Those who scream for "pre-emptive" war in Iraq because of the "threat" Iraq poses are in essence claiming that we all wasted that $5 trillion dollars, because the threat of those MIRVs no longer will deter Iraq from attacking the US. So, Bush is desperate for an event to kick off the war. The latest scarecrow propped up in front of us is Saddam's supposed fleet of drone aircraft ready to spray Anthrax all over us unless we follow Bush to war. It must be remembered that the last time there was an anthrax scare, it turned out that the Anthrax came from a US biological weapons lab, complete with letters written to frame Arab Muslims for the attack. That is a precedent to keep in mind. Saddam does not want war. Bush does. Howard does, Blair does (maybe), Sharon does (definitely). But Saddam does not. Every decision he has made to date is that of a man terrified of the idea of a war. But as desperate as Saddam has proven to be to avoid war Bush is even more desperate to start one. So when an "event" happens, be very careful when the same people who plagiarized a 12 year old student thesis and claimed it was current intelligence insist they have "proof" that the same people they have been wanting to attack for the last year are the culprits. Because history has shown that it is always those who WANT a war who commit warlike acts. Bush wants a war. What is he prepared to do to get one?

And, so long as the US keeps sending such vast amounts of wealth to Israel, Israel's government will never be motivated to learn how to be self-sufficient. Like an overage child still living at home with overindulgent parents, Israel will never grow up to be the independent state it proclaims itself to be. 2/25/03 Saddam to resist U.N. demand on missiles A missile that flies an additional 15 miles is hardly a threat to the United States. Bush is trying to make a mountain out of this mole hill to justify the conquest of the oil. But from Iraq's point of view, the missiles are part of their defense; the reason the UN allowed Iraq to keep them (albeit with the shorter range). The whole world knows Bush plans on invading Iraq no matter what. This insistence that Iraq get rid of short range missiles is equivalent to asking Saddam to tie his own hands and lie down in front of the Abrams tank that is about to roll over him. It would be a suicidal act of insanity to agree. The UN really cannot demand these missiles be destroyed over a difference in range of 15 miles unless the UN can guarantee to hold off the US invasion if Saddam complies, and it is pretty obvious that the UN is powerless against the US. 2/25/03 Colombia Rebels: U.S. Captives Are POWs More proof that US foreign policy is really screwed up. 2/25/03 U.S. Warns France in Struggle Over Iraq Somehow, I don't think France will be all that upset if the US takes back Euro-Disneyland. 2/25/03 Bush on Right Path to Re-election, Pundits Say Translation: The 2004 election is already rigged. 2/25/03 AN OPEN-SOURCE ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM. Only three states require that the source code be kept for inspection in the case of a challenge, and no states take any steps to make sure that the software on the actual voting machines has anything to do with the source code shown to the courts in a challenge. 2/25/03 Record US trade deficit highlights global imbalances 2/25/03 The New York Times’ brief for war against Iraq 2/25/03 Russia’s Ace From the Sleeve Just what did Primakov promise Saddam? 2/25/03 US and Britain pound Iraqi defenses in massive escalation of air strikes It occurs to me that if those Iraqi missiles were a threat, instead of just an excuse for war, the US would have bombed them a long time ago. 2/25/03 Republican Leaders Encountering More Antiwar Sentiment 2/25/03 Case tests government's new spy powers The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance court is not Constitutional. 2/25/03 USS Liberty: Facts or Peace and Quiet Dismissing the facts as "Israel bashing". 2/25/03 Split deepens in Security Council 2/25/03 How the news will be censored in this war A new CNN system of 'script approval' suggests the Pentagon will have nothing to worry about 2/25/03 US Army works at CNN 2/25/03 THE AMERICAN ARMY LOVES CNN Which is why free people get their news HERE! 2/25/03 Bush seeks to bypass weapons system tests "Trust me, it'll work as good as the Patriot!" 2/25/03 Iraq 'showing signs of co-operation' 2/25/03 PBS: The War Behind Closed Doors A lot of people are visiting this site to watch this show, so be patient. 2/25/03 Puppets, Ventriloquists and Dummies - Who is writing the script for war in Iraq? by XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (12 year old girl) When people think about bombing Iraq, they see a picture in their heads of Saddam Hussein in a military uniform, or maybe soldiers with big black mustaches carrying guns, or the mosaic of George Bush Sr. on the lobby floor of the Al-Rashid Hotel with the word “criminal”. But guess what? More than half of Iraq’s 24 million people are children under the age of 15. That’s 12 million kids. Kids like me. Well, I’m almost 13, so some are a little older, and some a lot younger, some boys instead of girls, some with brown hair, not red. But kids who are pretty much like me just the same. So take a look at me—a good long look. Because I am what you should see in your head when you think about bombing Iraq. I am what you are going to destroy. If I am lucky, I will be killed instantly, like the three hundred children murdered by your “smart” bombs in a Baghdad bomb shelter on February 16, 1991. The blast caused a fire so intense that it flash-burned outlines of those children and their mothers on the walls; you can still peel strips of blackened skin—souvenirs of your victory—from the stones. But maybe I won’t be lucky and I’ll die slowly, like 14-year-old Ali Faisal, who right now is on the “death ward” of the Baghdad children’s hospital. He has malignant lymphoma—cancer—caused by the depleted uranium in your Gulf War missiles. Or maybe I will die painfully and needlessly like18-month-old Mustafa, whose vital organs are being devoured by sand fly parasites. I know it’s hard to believe, but Mustafa could be totally cured with just $25 worth of medicine, but there is none of this medicine because of your sanctions. Or maybe I won’t die at all but will live for years with the psychological damage that you can’t see from the outside, like Salman Mohammed, who even now can’t forget the terror he lived through with his little sisters when you bombed Iraq in 1991. Salman’s father made the whole family sleep in the same room so that they would all survive together, or die together. He still has nightmares about the air raid sirens. Or maybe I will be orphaned like Ali, who was three when you killed his father in the Gulf War. Ali scraped at the dirt covering his father’s grave every day for three years calling out to him, “It’s all right Daddy, you can come out now, the men who put you here have gone away.” Well, Ali, you’re wrong. It looks like those men are coming back. Or I maybe I will make it in one piece, like Luay Majed, who remembers that the Gulf War meant he didn’t have to go to school and could stay up as late as he wanted. But today, with no education, he tries to live by selling newspapers on the street. Imagine that these are your children—or nieces or nephews or neighbors. Imagine your son screaming from the agony of a severed limb, but you can’t do anything to ease the pain or comfort him. Imagine your daughter crying out from under the rubble of a collapsed building, but you can’t get to her. Imagine your children wandering the streets, hungry and alone, after having watched you die before their eyes. This is not an adventure movie or a fantasy or a video game. This is reality for children in Iraq. Recently, an international group of researchers went to Iraq to find out how children there are being affected by the possibility of war. Half the children they talked to said they saw no point in living any more. Even really young kids knew about war and worried about it. One 5-year-old, Assem, described it as “guns and bombs and the air will be cold and hot and we will burn very much.” Ten-year-old Aesar had a message for President Bush: he wanted him to know that “A lot of Iraqi children will die. You will see it on TV and then you will regret.” Back in elementary school I was taught to solve problems with other kids not by hitting or name-calling, but by talking and using “I” messages. The idea of an “I” message was to make the other person understand how bad his or her actions made you feel, so that the person would sympathize with you and stop it. Now I am going to give you an “I” message. Only it’s going to be a “We” message. “We” as in all the children in Iraq who are waiting helplessly for something bad to happen. “We” as in the children of the world who don’t make any of the decisions but have to suffer all the consequences. “We” as in those whose voices are too small and too far away to be heard. We feel scared when we don’t know if we’ll live another day. We feel angry when people want to kill us or injure us or steal our future. We feel sad because all we want is a mom and a dad who we know will be there the next day. And, finally, we feel confused … because we don’t even know what we did wrong. 2/24/03 THE FACE OF THE ENEMY 2/24/03 And if you believe this, I have a bridge to sell you. 2/24/03 Perpetual Death From America 2/24/03 A threat on eve of U.N. vote Senior U.S. officials have been quietly dispatched in recent days to the capitals of key Security Council countries where they are warning leaders to vote with the United States on Iraq or risk "paying a heavy price." 2/24/03 Sex Trade Flourishing In The Holy Land 2/24/03 Tommy Chong raided! 2/24/03 Tommy Chong's company (Just in case you were curious what he did between movies with Cheech) 2/24/03 Cheech and Chong doing a new movie. "You load 16 tons, what do you get? In the early 1900's, one of the worst abuses of workers involved what was called the "company town". This was a town wholly owned by a mining company in a remote location. Workers were attracted to move there by the lure of high wages. However, once there, they discovered that the cost of living was even higher, kept there by the "...company store", the only source for the necessities of life. The company was free to hand out high wages, knowing they would take that same money back in as profits at the company store. No matter how hard the workers tried, they could never make enough money to live on and would be in debt to the company store. As long as they were in debt, the company could legally prevent the workers from leaving. It was a form of corporate slavery, concealed in a bookkeeping trick. The abuses of the company towns led eventually to the formation of labor unions, and threatened at one point to spark a communist revolution in the United States. The threat of such a revolution caused corporations to adopt more humane attitudes towards their workers. As word spread of what a trap the company towns could be spread through folk songs similar to the one quoted above, workers simply refused to sign up, and the company towns faded into history. I have received a lot of email regarding the article "The United States Government is Dying". Most of it has been positive. The negative email always seems to point out the standard of living Americans have, usually defined in terms of the possessions we own. But for the most part we don't own those things we display to others for their esteem and admiration. The vast majority of Americans are deeply in debt for the items they buy, TV sets, cars, recreational vehicles, vacations, even supermarkets have credit card machines to purchase food with. Using credit for the basic necessities of life has become so ubiquitous that it is almost invisible. The debt-based economy has turned the entire nation into a "...company town". Americans are living on borrowing, and when the economy slows down, the repayment of those loans becomes a trap. Eventually, the lenders acquire those few things Americans own that actually have any worth, namely their homes. And it is worth reminding to those readers who claim that our nation is still doing well that private ownership of homes has been in decline for quite some time. Whereas home ownership was the reality for most of our parents and grandparents, a far larger percentage of Americans are now renting. Americans are working their lives out, and at the end, they have little but a few status-icons to show for it. Our rear ends are well decorated with designer jeans, but if you think about it, blue jeans are pretty much what the workers in those older company towns wore into the mines every day. Is there any difference between the blue jeans you wear, made expensive with a designer label, and their blue jeans, made expensive by the company store? Is it not really the same trap at work? During the "boom times" of the 90s, the media assured us that the economy was doing wonderfully, that the good times would roll on forever. In reality, 80% of the population suffered a decline in living standards, and to make up for it, they bought on credit, assured that eventually there would be money to pay for it all. Then the crash happened. People are losing their homes, their retirements, their businesses, all those things they had worked for that had real worth, lost to that "company store" called the debt-based economy. The trap is that the US Government has been running itself pretty much the same way. Never able to balance its books the US Government just keeps borrowing and borrowing to make ends meet. The people get stuck with the bills. The interest alone now exceeds all the income tax paid by all the US citizens. You're not supposed to notice, of course, since taxed into near poverty you too are living on your credit cards. And never mind that the government borrows so much money that it drives interest rates up, making the money you do have to borrow more costly to repay. So for those who claim that an economy based on debts rather than on worth is a good thing, it usually is from the point of view of the bank which gets to print up those debt notes at whim and then lend them out at full value. But for the people, who are as trapped into paying the interest on all those debt notes spent, the nation has been turned into one gigantic "company town", where prices are always kept just a hair above wages, where the people are kept in perpetual debt, so that no matter how hard they work, the vast majority of Americans can never buy their soul back from that company store. 2/24/03 Saddam Hussein's son-in-law says torture common in Iraq Just like in Camp X-ray! 2/24/03 Sci-Fi in DC A senior Iraqi nuclear scientist accuses the US and Britain of waging a "misinformation campaign" about his country's nuclear programme 2/24/03 U.S. assertions go beyond its intelligence That's a polite way to say that Bush is just making it up as he goes along. 2/24/03 A Universal No to the War of Fear 2/24/03 US Released al-Qaeda Terrorists To Pakistan You can't have a war on terror unless you make sure there are plenty of terrorists about! 2/24/03 Three nuns accused of missile-site raid 2/24/03 Are You an Anti-American Lone Extremist?
