FBI:
ENERGY SITES IN QAEDA SIGHTS
July 15, 2004 --
The FBI has issued a new alert to law-enforcement
agencies, warning that al Qaeda might try to
launch attacks on the U.S. energy infrastructure
as part of a new terror offensive.
Authorities said last night that the FBI recently
issued an intelligence bulletin to 18,000
law-enforcement agencies warning that
"suspicious incidents" inside the
United States had led analysts to believe that al
Qaeda may be plotting attacks on oil refineries,
power plants, oil tankers and others parts of the
energy industry. [New York Post]
