American prisoners of war who refused to return to America at the end of the Korean War, 1960s

On 27 June 1953, the United Nations Command (UNC) and North Korean Communist forces signed an armistice ending three years of fighting in Korea. Although the American-led UNC failed to win the entire peninsula, it successfully repelled Communist attacks south of the 38th parallel. Moreover, though contrary to the 1947 Geneva Convention, which mandated the wholesale exchange of all POWs, President Truman’s policy of voluntary repatriation proved highly successful: 47,000 Chinese and North Korean prisoners of war struck a propaganda blow against their Marxist governments by choosing not to return to their homelands.

Merkel TANKS in the polls: Chancellor ratings slump as German anger grows

The survey, carried out in the coalition talks breakdown, makes worrying reading for Angela Merkel.

While Mrs Merkel said yesterday she wanted to stand again in any new snap election the German people appear to be turned off by the prospect.

Of those polled, 54 per cent said she should not run for office, according to the polling institute Civey for t-online.de.

Only 38.5 percent of Germans would welcome a renewed candidacy of the chancellor.

No more ‘fighting ISIS?’ US to stay in Syria to prevent ‘win’ for Assad and Iran

The US plans to keep it's troops in Syria long after the defeat of ISIS – the goal used to justify their illegal presence in the first place – because the Syrian government and its ally Iran would “win” if they were withdrawn, the Washington Post reported.

The Trump administration is “expanding its goals” in Syria to include a “potentially open-ended commitment” to support the Kurd-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the newspaper reported on Wednesday, citing several anonymous US officials. The change comes as the defeat of the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) terrorist group in Syria seems imminent.
***
While Washington has a history of skipping UN approval for its military interventions, be it in Syria or in other sovereign states, it appears that the semblance of legitimacy for keeping hundreds of troops in Syria is about to be dispelled.>>>

(*WOW! RT takes off the gloves !)

Did the US allow ISIS to escape to keep the fighting going?

Americans have been living in a country that has not known peace since 9/11, when President George W. Bush and his posse of neoconservatives delivered the message to the world that “you are either with us or against us.” The threat was coupled with flurry of hastily conceived legislation that opened the door to the unconstitutional “war on terror” carried out at the whim of the Chief Executive, a conflict which was from the start conceived of as a global military engagement without end.

Did The Putin/Assad Meeting Cement The End Of America's Mid-East Dominance?

The Syrian ‘Civil War’ was meant to be the crowning achievement of U.S./Israeli/Saudi policy in the Middle East, the apotheosis of neoconservatism.

Had it succeeded it would have transformed the world into a living hell governed by the likes of Hillary Clinton, George Soros, Angela Merkel and the U.S./U.K. banking cartel.

Syria was to be the wedge that blew open not only the Middle East but Central Asia as well. It would stop the resurgence of Russia as a world power, subjugate Europe to an endless nightmare of forced cultural assimilation and completed bankrupting the United States to bring it in line with the a failing European integration project.

Supranational treaties like the TPP, TTIP and the Paris Accord were designed to create a superstructure that would supplant national sovereignty without any input from the people who were most affected by it.

Two More Women Accuse Sen. Al Franken Of Inappropriate Touching

The first woman, who spoke to HuffPost on condition of anonymity because she’s worried she’ll be harassed online for making the allegation, said Franken groped her when they posed for a photo after a June 25, 2007, event hosted by the Minnesota Women’s Political Caucus in Minneapolis.

“My story is eerily similar to Lindsay Menz’s story,” the first woman said. “He grabbed my buttocks during a photo op.”

The second woman told HuffPost that Franken cupped her butt with his hand at a 2008 Democratic fundraiser in Minneapolis, then suggested the two visit the bathroom together. She spoke on condition of anonymity out of fear that the allegation could affect her position at work.

Rep. Joe Barton Threatened To Report A Woman To Capitol Police If She Shared His Sexts And Lurid Photos

It’s fair to say that America was shocked on Wednesday when a nude photo of conservative Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) graphically surfaced online. A purported sext message accompanied the explicit image, and Barton apologized to his constituents while emphasizing that he had “sexual relationships” with “mature adult women” following a divorce. The Washington Post has spoken to the anonymous woman who shared the image, along with, um, something else, which we will get to in a moment (you’d better sit down first). And the woman revealed that Barton threatened her with a Capitol Police report if she “expose[d] his behavior” by sharing what he sent her.

Well, not only did the woman share the lewd image and sext, but she also reportedly uploaded a 53-second video (which was self-recorded by Barton) that showed the congressman masturbating.

CNN Blackout On House Democrat Under FBI Investigation

It has been 24 hours since news broke that Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Bob Brady is under FBI investigation for allegedly paying his primary opponent to drop out of the race, but CNN has published zero articles and devoted zero airtime to the story.

The FBI was granted a search warrant for Brady’s campaign email, BobCongress@Aol.com, as part of its investigation into payments Brady’s campaign allegedly made to 2012 primary opponent Jimmie Moore. Two of Brady’s political consultants have already been charged in connection with the investigation.

A search of CNN’s website shows the news outlet has yet to publish an article acknowledging the investigation into the congressman.

“They Went After The Women Who Came Forward” Former Obama HHS Secretary Exposes The Clinton’s For Attacking The Women Who Accused Bill Clinton Of Sexual Assault

In the “post Weinstein” world we now find ourselves in we have seen dozens and dozens of prominent figures in Hollywood, politics, and the media be accused of a wide range of sexual attacks on women.

From groping all the way to rape, powerful establishment figures are being outed as sexual predators across the country, with the mainstream media declaring that all accusers must, at least initially, be believed.

Amazingly, at the same time, mainstream media talking heads have either specifically ignored the numerous allegations against Bill Clinton or actually claimed that his accusers are discredited and cannot be believed. (Keep in mind all other accusers are automatically assumed to be telling the truth.)

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please remember; this kind of behaviour, for both Clintons, was standard operating behaviour.

For them, it was simply business as usual.

Jared Kushner probed over Israel contacts

Special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly probing Jared Kushner’s contacts with Israeli officials last year as Israel tried to derail a UN Security Council vote on its West Bank settlements.

The Wall Street Journal’s revelation of the probe into Kushner’s contacts with Israel comes as details emerge of an imminent Trump “peace plan” that would railroad Palestinians into surrendering their rights in exchange for a state in name only.

GOP Congressman Confirms Lewd Photo Leak: ‘Sorry I Did Not Use Better Judgment’

There are only a few things that can pull a relatively no-name congressman from Texas out of obscurity and into the national media spotlight — chief of which include saying something horribly offensive or having the intimate details of a sex scandal leak online.

EXCLUSIVE: 'American mercenaries are torturing' Saudi elite rounded up by new crown prince - and billionaire Prince Alwaleed was hung upside down 'just to send a message'

Saudi princes and billionaire businessmen arrested in a power grab earlier this month are being strung up by their feet and beaten by American private security contractors, a source in the country tells DailyMail.com.

The group of the country's most powerful figures were arrested in a crackdown ordered by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman three weeks ago as he ordered the detention of at least 11 fellow princes and hundreds of businessmen and government officials over claims of corruption.

Just last month, the Crown Prince vowed to restore 'moderate, open Islam' in the kingdom and relaxed a number of its ultra-conservative rules, including lifting a ban on women driving.

Did The Putin/Assad Meeting Cement The End Of America's Mid-East Dominance?

I’m not a terribly religious man. But, I’d like to believe there is a special corner in Hell reserved for those that fomented the Syrian Civil War.

From its beginnings in Libya with gun-funneling through the U.S. embassy in Benghazi to yesterday’s meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, this entire affair will be remembered as one of the most cynical and abusive periods of history.

Putin Won’t Gloat

The big question is, however, what price will be extracted from the U.S. for their part in all of this. Putin will not put Trump in a bad position. The loss of face for the U.S. has already occurred internationally.

The Obama administration’s complicity in this sorry chapter of Middle East history has been mostly laid bare for anyone with eyes open enough to see.

Syria Summit Kicks Off In Russia With Some Anti-Saudi Trolling

While in Sochi, Russia for trilateral talks between Russia, Iran, and Turkey over the future of Syria, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has taken to Twitter for some serious trolling. As the first day of the summit concluded - a day preceded by a rare 4-hour visit to Russia by Syrian President Bashar Assad who met with Putin on Monday - Zarif stated, "No need for empty words or gimmicks - including glowing orbs - when you're actually working for peace and against terror."

The Iranian FM was of course referring to the unforgettable photo op which lit up the internet from Trump's inaugural visit to Saudi Arabia last May wherein Trump along with Saudi King Salman and Egypt's Sisi laid their hands on a strange glowing orb upon the opening of something called the "Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology" (no one knows what the center has accomplished since then).

Hariri's "Unresignation" As Seen In A Bizarre Photo With The Iranian Ambassador

The photograph is receiving a lot of attention and circulation on Arab social media as ironically during his initial televised resignation speech from Riyadh he cited Iranian meddling and rising influence, even going so far as to suggest he could be assassinated in a nefarious Iranian plot. Yet now he appears surprisingly overjoyed standing in front of the Iranian ambassador.

Anomalous Methane-Rich Comet 45P Could Be Key to Understanding Origins of Life

The comet contained so little carbon monoxide that scientists officially called it depleted. Carbon monoxide evaporates from the nucleus into the comet's thin atmosphere and is subsequently lost into space when the celestial body gets heated by the sun. For a comet that's made many passes by a star, the loss of carbon monoxide is hardly something unusual.

However, your average comet also loses its methane, also contained within the comet's ice, along with carbon monoxide — so a comet low on carbon monoxide should also be low on methane, too.

But that was not the case with 45P. On the contrary, the researchers discovered it was quite rich in methane — something never observed before.

NATO readying Europe’s infrastructure for war a ‘bad signal’ for Russia – general to RT

NATO’s urging its members to make its civilian infrastructure suitable for military maneuvers is a “bad sign,” a three-star Russian general told RT. He argued that it shows Washington would like to see Europe and Russia battling each other.

“This is a bad signal,” Colonel General Leonid Ivashov, formerly a high-ranking Defense Ministry official, told RT on Wednesday. “NATO has no near-peer opponent in terms of the overall amount of divisions and military equipment, as well as command structures.” Ivashov, now president of the Moscow-based Academy for Geopolitical Problems think-tank, added that new developments in Europe may indicate the military bloc is preparing to target Russia.

Israel may ‘target’ Iran activity in Syria, Netanyahu said to tell Macron

Israel sees Iranian activity in Syria as “a target” for its forces, and may carry out strikes against Iranian objectives if security needs require it, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly told French President Emmanuel Macron in a phone call this week.

Channel 10 reported Wednesday that it had obtained a transcript of Sunday’s call. In it, Netanyahu is said to have told the French leader that “from now on, Israel sees Iran’s activities in Syria as a target. We will not hesitate to act, if our security needs require us to do so.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Israel is going to declare war on Syria, as a way of "baiting" Iran to strike back, ultimately as the justification for going to war against Iran.

But rest assured; Israel will expect the costs of such a war to be borne only in American blood and American money, and will be prepared to fight to the last American standing.

But the larger question is, with ISIS nearly mopped up in Syria, in great part due to Russian military assistance, just how long is Russia going to put up with Israel playing picador in Syria?!?

Long-distance trips increase by 54 percent around Thanksgiving, a huge number, especially when considering that the increase for Christmas is just 23 percent compared to the average for the rest of the year. TOP SAMANTHA POWER AIDE IS NOW LOBBYING TO UNDERMINE OPPONENTS OF YEMEN WAR

STARVING CHILDREN WITH haunting eyes and emaciated bodies. Bombed-out hospitals and homes. A cholera epidemic that is the largest and fastest-spreading in modern history. These scenes have sparked outrage and a flurry of denunciations of the U.S.-backed war in Yemen, which is led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

But that’s not to say the war has no defenders in the United States. In fact, a public relations consultant and former U.S. diplomat enlisted by the UAE has worked to discredit U.S.-based groups raising awareness of atrocities in Yemen.

Hagar Chemali previously served as a top spokesperson for Samantha Power, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Now, she is paid six figures to shape the debate about the war at the U.N., including by discrediting NGOs that advance evidence of human rights violations in Yemen, according to public disclosures and emails obtained by The Intercept.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are people on this planet who will do anything for money, including whoring for genocide; this is precisely what Hagar Chemali is doing right now, in her enabling the Butcher of Yemen, Prince Salman, to get closer to his goal of complete anihilation of the Yemeni people, assisted by the US military.

The Saudi System And Why Its Change May Fail

The Saudi clown prince Mohammad Bin Salman is an impulsive tyrant. But what accounts for his urge to purge the country of any potential competing power center? Why does he run a such an activist foreign policy? The answer might be Iran. Not Iran the country, but Iran the system.

Since the U.S. war on Iraq the sclerotic Saudi Arabia continuously lost standing in its region. The Iranian model gained ground. A decade later the authoritarian Arab systems were challenged by the so called "Arab spring". While the movements in the various countries -as far as they were genuine- have failed, they were a warning sign for things to come.

U.S. moves toward open-ended presence in Syria after Islamic State is routed

The Trump administration is expanding its goals in Syria beyond routing the Islamic State to include a political settlement of the country’s civil war, a daunting and potentially open-ended commitment that could draw the United States into conflict with both Syria and Iran.

With forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and his Russian and Iranian allies now bearing down on the last militant-controlled towns, the defeat of the Islamic State in Syria could be imminent — along with an end to the U.S. justification for being there.

U.S. officials say they are hoping to use the ongoing presence of American troops in northern Syria, in support of the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to pressure Assad to make concessions at United Nations-brokered peace talks in Geneva. The negotiations there are set to resume at the end of this month after sputtering along for more than three years without result.

Webmaster's Commentary:

WHAT "concessions" is the US government hoping to achieve out of keeping US troops in Syria?!?

We have invaded a sovereign nation in what is tantamount to an act of war; Al Assad has told the US to get out, as has Russia, which was invited to assist the Al Assad government in getting rid of the jihadis.

This US military presence in Syria has absolutely no logical purpose, except to annoy the Russians, and I seriously doubt that President Putin is going to put up with it very much longer.

War with Russia over Syria?!?

Don't discount the possibility.

Iraq Wants To Build Gas Pipeline To Kuwait In Blow To Shell

In a bid to reduce gas flaring and pay off outstanding reparations for the 1990 invasion of Kuwait, Iraq has hired Japanese firm Toyo Engineering to help it build a gas pipeline to Kuwait, in what could be a blow to Shell’s gas ambitions in Iraq, industry sources tell Reuters.

Kuwait is looking to diversify its gas imports from Qatar after several Arab states led by Saudi Arabia severed ties with Qatar earlier this year accusing it of sponsoring terrorism.

Iraq has gas reserves, and it extracts large volumes of gas together with the oil, but the gas is currently being flared.

Putin orders Russian companies to be ready for urgent transition to war-time operations

Russian President Vladimir Putin says that all major Russian companies, both state-owned and private, must be ready for a rapid transition to war-time operations, adding that the capability is crucial to national security.
According to the Kremlin press service, the Russian president made the statement on Wednesday at a conference with senior defense ministry officials and top managers of major defense companies.

“I would like to note that the ability of any economy to rapidly increase the output of defense products and services when it is needed is one of the most important conditions of the nation’s military security. All strategic and… large enterprises must be ready for this,” Putin stated.

The Russian leader added that he and senior defense officials already discussed the issue in 2015 and 2016, and asked those attending the meeting to report which problems of the previous years had been dealt with and which had not.

"OUT OF CONTROL GENOCIDE" IN BALTIMORE, RESIDENTS SUPPORT MARTIAL LAW

While in Baltimore City, Maryland, death and despair are a few things that are plentiful as the region descends into chaos. Deindustrialization coupled with depopulation started in the 1960s stripping the city of economic wealth. Many don’t want to admit, the city is shrinking as their looking glass is clouded with Kevin Plank’s gentrification narrative.

Wealth inequality in the area is some of the widest in the United States with more than 100,000 African Americans with zero dollars to their name, according to JPM. Baltimore is a skeleton of what it once was many decades ago when it had its industries.

Now, 46,800 homes are vacant– almost 16% of the housing stock as citizens are either leaving the area or being pushed into multi-family complexes by the city. Neighborhoods are rotting away as the local economy crumbles giving way to a surge in homicides. Baltimore is on track for the worse year ever with a homicide rate the highest in the United States.

Flashback: Grace Mugabe Says: There Is Oil In Zimbabwe

Western mining experts hid exploration maps on Zimbabwe’s mineral resource base during the colonial era, but the country is slowly discovering its worth in terms of underground wealth, First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe has said.

It is believed that the whites undertook massive exploration works in Zimbabwe before independence, but never made public their findings. The move was deliberate to ensure that after independence, the new State would not know its value in terms of minerals. Addressing investors of African origin based in the United Kingdom at her Mazowe Children’s Home on Tuesday, Dr Mugabe said Zimbabwe was endowed with vast resources and God was already revealing some of the hidden wealth.

CHILLING STATS Failed flu vaccine to blame for ‘THOUSANDS of deaths last winter’

THE FAILED flu vaccine was responsible for thousands of deaths last winter, official figures suggest.

There were 34,000 more deaths between December 2016 and March 2017 than warmer months.

And some 12,500 of these were caused by respiratory diseases, such as flu.

Public Health England has previously admitted the flu vaccine was ineffective among OAPs last year.

This is because pensioners’ weaker immune systems failed to respond properly to the flu jab.

The Psychology of Desperate People: 15 Dead, 40 Injured in Food Stampede in Morocco

In prepper lore, there is a theory about how badly desperate people are likely to behave. Many folks outside the community scoff at this theory. They believe that we have become more civilized than to utilize violent measures when hunger strikes.

But an incident in Morocco the other day showed us exactly how hungry people behave. And it isn't pretty.

For the Saudis, the ultimate target is Shiite Iran and its significant influence in the Middle East and presence, directly or indirectly, in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. Nonviolent Civil Disobedience in Protest Against Coercive Flu Shots (Without Informed Consent)

Hello Fellow Healthcare Worker! Having managed so far to avoid being fired for refusing the seasonal Flu vaccine, with methods ranging from Religious Exemption, to Mask-Wearing, here are some of my observations “from the field”, in hopes that you may find something that will be useful in your own situation.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and in America, Civil Disobedience has a long and effective history of being utilized by those oppressed, to bring attention to their plight, gain sympathy from persons of influence, and change the course of the national conversation regarding their cause.

The more trouble for the employer that we can make of Mandatory Vaccination Time, the more annoyed they will be with the whole process.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That it has come to this kind of strategy, when it comes to health care workers developing a peaceful way of not getting getting flu shots, when they know the downside of these injections, simply demonstrates how cooercive the medical/industrial complex has become to push product, even when they know what the risks are.

Please, learn about nutrition; when it comes to your health, knowledge absolutey is power.

And if you are having chronic health problems, think about going for a nutritional consult at a 7th Day Adventist medical facility, even if your doctor doesn't recommend it, and even if your insurance won't pay for it; because they are ovolactovegetarians, they have learned the power and potential of using food as a weapon against disease.

Boy, Is This Stupid or What?nDid the US allow ISIS to escape to keep the fighting going?

The shambles of American policy as it applies to the Middle East was highlighted by yet another similar and particularly bizarre episode that was revealed initially by the BBC on Monday of last week. In early October, when the Syrians and Russians were closing in from the west on Raqqa, the “capital” of the ISIS caliphate while the U.S supported Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which predominantly consists of the Kurdish militias, was closing in from the east, a deal was reportedly struck to permit an evacuation of the remaining ISIS fighters and their families.

Translated Doc Debunks Narrative of Al Qaeda-Iran ‘Alliance’

For many years, major U.S. institutions ranging from the Pentagon to the 9/11 Commission have been pushing the line that Iran secretly cooperated with Al Qaeda both before and after the 9/11 terror attacks. But the evidence for those claims remained either secret or sketchy, and always highly questionable.

In early November, however, the mainstream media claimed to have its “smoking gun”—a CIA document written by an unidentified Al Qaeda official and released in conjunction with 47,000 never-before-seen documents seized from Osama bin Laden’s house in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This piece of codswallop, dutifully regurgitated by the corporate presstitutes, and configured to make it look like it was something it wasn't is typical of the collusion between the American Deep State, and its presstitutes.

What was happening here, was the creation of a narrative to further and agenda, i.e., that Iran colluded with Al Qaeda, is therefore bad and must be invaded and regime changed.

Very fortunately, it exploded, metaphorically, in their, and the government's collective faces, like a bad trick, cigar.

But don't expect, for a millisecond, that the government and corporate media will stop attempting to lie this country into another war, this time against Iran, which may well mean a war against Russia, whose politicians and military leadership have sworn to defend it, should it be attacked militarily.

Why the Fall of the House of Clinton May Trigger Domino Effect Worldwide

Over the past two decades the Clintons have created nothing short of a global network consisting of influential foreign politicians, oligarchs and royalty, exercising what Wall Street analyst Charles Ortel called "the cult of unregulated globalism." The fall of the House of Clinton may bring an end to this globalist structure, he told Sputnik.

"The Clintons — and the Bushes and Obamas — have embraced the cult of unregulated 'globalism' wherein a small band of cronies drawn from the billionaire class, multinational companies, international nonprofits, academia, and media swarm around the world trying to dominate the political agenda, as they move financial markets, and put deals together," Charles Ortel, a Wall Street analyst and investigative journalist, told Sputnik.

Everywhere Surge: US Mideast Deployments Up 33% in Four Months

The Pentagon isn’t always honest about troop levels overseas, but their quarterly reports have shown a precipitous rise in ground troop deployments across the Middle East since June. Perhaps most interestingly, these deployments came entirely after the announced escalations in Iraq and Syria had already taken place.

US troop levels are up some 33% across the 14 nations included in the report, and rose in every single one of those countries. This spans a region covering all nations from Turkey to Egypt, down to Yemen, and over to Iraq and Kuwait.

The largest deployments are some of the most surprising, with the US presence in Qatar more than double over the past report (3,164 to 6,671), and nearly tripled in the United Arab Emirates (1,531 to 4,240). It is particularly noteworthy that troops continued to be added to nations in which seemingly nothing is happening, like Oman and Lebanon, suggesting the US is determined to just escalate everywhere at all times.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Escalations like this don't happen for utterly no reason: logistics like this take time, and planning.

I would suggest that this bump in troop strength in the Middle East may well b may well be a pre-positioning of resources in advance of an attack against Iran, possibly tag teaming with both Israel and Saudi Arabia.

This could get very nasty, very quickly, as Russian political and military leaders have consistently vowed to come to Iran's aid militarily, should it be attacked.

George Soros decries Hungary's PM Orban for anti-Semitic attacks 'reminiscent of the 1930s'

Soros says he had been targeted by an administration "stoking anti-Muslim sentiment and employing anti-Semitic tropes reminiscent of the 1930s."
In July, Prime Minister Viktor Orban launched a nationwide television and billboard advertising campaign accusing Soros of devising Europe's refugee influx.
The Hungarian premier has often vilified Soros, whose ideals are squarely at odds with Orban's view that European culture is under an existential threat from migration and multiculturalism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I find it nearly painfully ironic that Soros, a former, and self-confessed Nazi collaborator, would be making these charges against Orban.

And ultimately, in this argument, I think Orban is correct in his assessment, looking at how unrestricted immigration policies have vastly changed the UK; Sweden; and Germany, and not necessarily for the better.

The key here is the desire to assimilate; not change your new environment into what you had before you migrated. And the issues are langugage; tolerance of other faiths; culture; and borders.

and I would very like to politely ask Mr. Soros just how many immigrants live on his properties throughout the world?!? Were I a betting woman, my bet would be that the operative answer would be, ABSOLUTELY NONE!!

Putin-Trump dialogue confirms vast agenda in Russian-US ties, senator says

The dialogue between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump has confirmed that there is a wide-ranging agenda in Russian-US relations, Russian senator Konstantin Kosachev wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

Putin and Trump held a phone conversation on November 21. The White House’s press service said the conversation lasted for more than an hour. The Kremlin’s press service noted that the dialogue was "business-like and substantial." The sides discussed Syria, Ukraine, North Korea, Afghanistan and Iran’s nuclear program.

"The long-lasting and substantial conversation between Putin and Trump, according to mutual assessments, confirmed that a vast agenda remains in Russian-US relations, which may and should be discussed without preconditions and on an equal basis," said Kosachev, who chairs Russia’s Federation Council (upper house) International Affairs Committee.

Will House Ethics Comm. Let Conyers’ Sex Scandal Slide Like His Past Corrupt Acts?

The prominent Michigan congressman who illegally forced congressional staffers to be personal servants and work on state and local campaigns is embroiled in a major sex scandal. Various media outlets report that John Conyers, the longest serving House member and ranking Democrat of the powerful Judiciary Committee, secretly settled a sexual harassment claim by an employee with taxpayer funds from his office budget. Additionally, multiple former staff members accuse the 88-year-old lawmaker of repeatedly making sexual advances toward female staff. Democratic colleagues have already called for a House Ethics Committee probe, but there’s little hope Conyers will be punished since the notoriously remiss panel let him off the hook the last time it investigated his corrupt acts, determining that he had “accepted responsibility” for the violations. A former staffer said the legislator, a civil rights icon and founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, is untouchable.

Scientists dispute that the first of two explosions reported by eyewitnesses was a nuclear explosion and not steam, as is widely believed. A few seconds later, experts say, a steam explosion further ruptured the reactor and sent even more debris flying into the atmosphere at lower altitudes, according to an article in the journal Nuclear Technology...

THE DRONE WAR UNDER TRUMP: KILLING MORE PEOPLE, HIDING MORE FACTS

President Donald Trump seems determined to undo just about everything Barack Obama has done. There is one area, however, in which he is following the lead of his predecessor: drone warfare.
Not that the public would know anything about it — or the dangerously loose oversight involved. And that’s by design.

The Trump administration is not only expanding the use of drones, it is also obscuring the facts about how many drones are being used, how many people are being killed by them, and where.

“Think back when the US pursued the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Troops weren’t allowed to engage, but there was no prohibition on drones. The same thing is happening in Niger, even before the recent attacks on US troops stationed there.”

“The government has all but officially suppressed information coming out about US policy concerning drone warfare,” Nick Mottern, veteran reporter and founder of the anti-drone activist site KnowDrones, told WhoWhatWhy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Extrajudicial assassinations, which is what the drone strikes are, are illegal, period, end of discussion, no matter how much weasel wording well-paid attorneys try to bend language which makes it so.

They are also a magnificent recruitment tool in terms of getting thos people left standing radicalized, insuring that a state of perpetual war exists for the American people.

HERE’S WHAT VLADIMIR PUTIN AND BASHAR ASSAD DISCUSSED IN SOCHI

In summary, President Assad came to Moscow in October 2015 a drowning man to whom the Russians had just thrown a lifeline.

The situation is totally transformed today.

Not only has eastern Aleppo been liberated and the whole of Aleppo secured, but the authority of the Syrian government has been restored along the whole of Syria’s western coast with only the province of Idlib and a few pockets of territory still under Jihadi control.

In central and eastern Syria ISIS has been broken. Palmyra is now conclusively liberated, the siege of Deir Ezzor has been broken and the city cleared of ISIS, and following the liberation of Albukamal ISIS no longer controls any large or important towns in Syria, and has been reduced to a rural insurgency.

In the meantime the Syrian army has been expanded, retrained and re-equipped into a far more formidable force than it was before.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The following image said it all:

Putin and Al-Assad at Socci, 21 November, 2017

It looks as though Al Assad is hugging Putin, almost as a father figure, or at least a wise elder statesman who helped get the situation stabilized in Syria; there has to be a lot of gratitude here, on Al-Assad's part.

It was reported that Putin and Trump talked yesterday for a very long time; I have to wonder how it will impact Sec Def Mattis' statement a couple of days ago that even though ISIS was defeated in Syria, that US troops will stay regardless.

I hope President Trump is committed to stabilizing Syria at this point, and that has to translate into US troop withdrawal from the country, ASAP.

ANOTHER SCHOOL HIDES PLANNED PARENTHOOD PROGRAM FOR 14-YEAR-OLDS FROM THEIR PARENTS

A school district in upstate New York got caught promoting the services of America’s largest abortion provider without telling the taxpayers who send their children to school.

Schenectady High School forced freshmen to participate in a “teen pregnancy prevention assembly” featuring “educators” from Planned Parenthood, which parent Vivian Parsons learned from her 14-year-old daughter, The Daily Gazette reports.

The school district claims it hid the in-school sales pitch by an abortion giant from parents “because the content or material within the presentation is not considered inappropriate” for freshmen. (It was called “First Love Yourself” and explained how “teenage pregnancy related to other social issues.”)

Tell that to Parsons, a former teen mother whose sexual partner pressured her to abort the daughter who was forced to hear a sales pitch for abortion 14 years later. She challenged the school board at a meeting last week:

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that both Planned Parenthood and public schools have a massive transparency issue, for both students and their parents.

Parents should absolutely be given the right of having their kids opt out of such assemblies; parents are most usually the best judges of what is right or not for their kids.

TOP GERMAN JUDGES SLAM EU PLANS TO CREATE GLOBAL COURT TO ENFORCE CORPORATE SOVEREIGNTY

A few weeks ago, we wrote how many -- even the US Trade Representative, Robert Lighthizer -- seem to think it's time for corporate sovereignty, also called "investor-state dispute settlement" (ISDS), to go. For some reason the European Commission disagrees. As Techdirt readers may recall, after receiving a bloody nose in a public consultation about corporate sovereignty, the Commission announced to great fanfare that it was "replacing" ISDS with something called the Investment Court System (ICS). In fact, this amounted to little more than putting lipstick on the ISDS pig, since ICS suffered from the same fundamental flaw: it gave companies unique rights to sue countries in a supra-national court. The EU is still plugging away at the ICS idea, and it now wants to go further by creating a truly global corporate sovereignty system enforced by a new Multilateral Investment Court (pdf), an initiative formally launched a couple of months ago:

Webmaster's Commentary:

Corporations need less power, not more, in the scheme of things; and particularly in the realm of computer/telecom product issues, when the products don't work, they do not need governmental protection, as this industry is no longer in its infancy.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE TO PAY $3 MILLION FOR INVASIVE SEARCHES OF 850 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

It's been barely a month since news came to us of the Worth County (GA) Sheriff's Department's search of an entire school's worth of high school students. Over 800 students were searched without a warrant, subjected to invasive pat downs that included breasts and genitals by Sheriff Jeff Hobby and his deputies.
Sheriff Hobby thought there might be drugs in the school, but despite the search of hundreds of students and the use of drug dogs, no drugs were found. A class action lawsuit [PDF] alleging multiple rights violations brought by some of the students was filed in June. In October, Sheriff Hobby and two of his deputies were indicted for sexual battery and false imprisonment.

In a surprisingly quick turnaround, there's already talk of a settlement, as Susan Hogan reports for the Washington Post.

On Tuesday, a legal advocacy group, the Southern Center for Human Rights, said a proposed $3 million settlement had been reached in the lawsuit, pending a judge’s approval.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I a parent of a kid who had suffered through one of these invasive procedures, with absolutely no warrant, I would pull my kid out of that school so fast that it would make the principal's head spin, and either put them into a private school or home school them.

Ever notice that when elements of the government declare "war" on something, it makes the problem worse?!?

Our country's alleged "war on drugs" is, essentially, a war on those drugs the government is not, itself, "pushing".

Look at the massive growth of the heroin trade, courtesy of a burgeoning opium poppy crop coming out of Afghanistan, with US soldiers actually protecting the poppy fields.

14 Years after Portugal Decriminalised All Drugs: Here's what's happening

Of course in this country, pigs will discover they are aerodynamic before something as civilized, intellitgent, and humane happens; there is far too much money to be made by the cartels; corrupt politicians; corrupt private prison corporations, who love the laws just as they are; and the banks which still routinely launder the drug money.
