Websites can steal browser data via extensions APIs

Malicious websites can exploit browser extension APIs to execute code inside the browser and steal sensitive information such as bookmarks, browsing history, and even user cookies.

The latter, an attacker can use to hijack a user's active login sessions and access sensitive accounts, such as email inboxes, social media profiles, or work-related accounts.

Furthermore, the same extension APIs can also be abused to trigger the download of malicious files and store them on the user device, and store and retrieve data in an extension's permanent storage, data that can later be used to track users across the web.

German army 'could recruit EU citizens'

Seven years after Germany scrapped conscription, its defence chief has said employing EU citizens is "an option" to fill expert posts.

Army general inspector Eberhard Zorn said the forces had to "look in all directions in times of a lack of qualified personnel", such as doctors and IT specialists.

The armed forces have been beset by years of under-investment.

Germany aims to increase its military by 21,000 personnel by 2025.

It has also pledged to raise its defence budget from 1.2% to to 1.5% of its gross domestic product by 2024, in the face of criticism from President Donald Trump that it does not meet the Nato target of 2% of GDP.

'There's no place to hide': Shocking study reveals how Twitter and Facebook learn private information about you - even if you DON'T have an account

'There's no place to hide in a social network,' study co-author Lewis Mitchell said in a statement.

From political affiliation to purchasing practices and favorite television series, information shared online by friends and contacts could potentially be used to deduce many aspects of a person's life, Bagrow said.

'Information is so strongly embedded in a social network that, in principle, one can profile an individual from their available social ties even when the individual forgoes the platform completely,' the researchers wrote in the study.

New Android Malware Apps Use Motion Sensor to Evade Detection

Even after so many efforts by Google for preventing its Play Store from malware, shady apps somehow managed to fool its anti-malware protections and get into its service to infect Android users with malware.

Two such Android apps have recently been spotted on the Google Play Store by security researchers with the Trend Micro malware research team, infecting thousands of Android users who have already downloaded them with banking malware.

The apps in question masquerade as a currency exchange app called Currency Converter and battery saver app called BatterySaverMobi, and are using motion-sensor inputs of infected Android devices to monitor them before installing a dangerous banking Trojan called Anubis.

Satellite Images Reveal China Is Building Secret War Bunkers Near Indian Border

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has constructed a new, underground facility (UGF) about 31 miles from the India-China border, and 37 miles from the Indian Army’s forward posts at Demchok in Ladakh.

According to The Print, satellite imagery identified a deeply buried hardened target (DBHT) under construction outside the town of Ngari, also known as Shiquanhe in Mandarin.

Construction started in December 2016, about six months before the 2017 China–India border standoff near the India-China-Bhutan tri-junction in the east.

The Print, specified that special personnel are being used instead of locals, to maintain secrecy and security of the project.

The UGF appears to have four large tunnel entrances and three small ones; all have hardened entrances with reinforced concrete. Judging by the images, the openings would soon be covered with other material to withstand a direct military strike.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF this report is true, it is very distressing, due to the following:

Recently, there is also a new "thaw" in the Pakistani and Chinese economic courtship: China's Belt and Road Plan in Pakistan takes a military turn

And here's a very important article about a US/India defense deal, finalized last September: US and India sign 'breakthrough' military agreement despite differences over Iran and Russia

So if China is thinking about attacking India over disputed border issues, the US will be fighting on India's side.

I don't know what odds Vegas bookies are putting on it, but were I a betting woman, I would bet that a military draft will be reimposed in this country, and very soon.

Moscow offered to the Americans a demonstration of the 'controversial' 9M729 rocket

MOSCOW, on the occasion of its 9M729 rocket - used by the Americans to step down from the Middle and Small-Type Missile Rockets Agreement - withdrew a move that probably was not expected in Washington.

She proposed the White House and the Pentagon to hold a "special briefing" on their 9M729 complaints.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, on the occasion, revealed and emphasized:

"We're ready for the 9M729 unprecedented open missile. We have proposed a rocket demonstration and a briefing on its characteristics. All that we have offered is not our obligation under the Medium and Small Rocket Agreement. "

According to Rybakov, Russia - in return - insists that the US military and diplomatic leadership will remove its concerns about the Aegis Ashore system installed in Romania, and should be the backbone of the US PRO in Poland.

May Rules Out Changes To Good Friday Agreement, Offers Parliament More Control Over Trade Negotiations

Update 3: In his rebuttal, Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn declared that "nothing has changed" on May's end, and that a deal will only become workable when the Prime Minister agrees to surrender some of her infamous "red lines" - presumably a reference to Tories insistence that the UK leave the single market and customs union.

There is a clear majority in this House to support a deal in principle and ratify results, but it would require face reality and accept that her deal has been defeated.

Before moving forward, May must rule out 'no deal' and stop the 'collossal waste of public money' being spent preparing for a no deal outcome.

US Will Retain a Military Base in Syria Despite Withdrawal

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo delivered contradictory messages in a speech in Cairo on Thursday, January 10. On the one hand, he said Washington will withdraw American troops from Syria in line with Donald Trump’s momentous announcement on December 19, and on the other, he emphasized the US will continue fighting the Islamic State and will also contain the influence of Iran in the Middle East region.

Obviously, both these divergent goals are impossible to achieve, unless Washington is planning to maintain some sort of long-term military presence in Syria. In an exclusive report [1] by the Middle East Eye’s Turkey correspondent, Ragip Soylu, January 10, he mentions that the US delegation presented a five-point document to the Turkish officials during National Security Advisor John Bolton’s recent visit to Turkey.

MAGA Hat Teen Speaks Out Amid Death Threats; Denounces "Outright Lies" About Tribal Elder Staredown

The Kentucky teenager at the center of a media circus has spoken out after receiving death threats over a widely misreported incident with an Obama tribal elder on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.

"I am the student in the video who was confronted by the Native American protester," reads a statement by Nick Sandmann, the Covington Catholic High School junior who was initially accused of taunting the drum-beating activist, prominent activist Nathan Phillips, only to be vindicated after the full video revealed that the Native American troupe approached the teens amid a tense standoff with a group known as the Black Hebrew Israelites, while the teens peacefully held their ground.

Sandmann has become the face of the apparent confrontation, smiling silently only a foot or two from the face of Nathan Phillips, a Vietnam War veteran and prominent activist for indigenous people's causes.

Hollywood Producer Calls For the Murder of Covington Catholic Kids: ‘Go Screaming – Into the WOODCHIPPER’

Jack Morrissey, a Hollywood Producer who is known for projects such as Beauty and the Beast and the Twilight Saga, called for minor teen high school boys to be murdered in a violent, gruesome manner.

Mr. Morrissey joined the hate-filled media and piled on the Covington Catholic students after deceptively edited videos of the teens were posted to Twitter accusing them of harassing a Native American man.

Full video of the incident shows the teens did nothing wrong — they were ambushed by blacks calling them “crackers” and the Native Indian man is a far left activist who harassed the children.

In fact, upon further review of the entire video, many people are now apologizing to the Covington Catholic teens, admitting they were duped by selectively edited video and ‘fake news.’

Israel says its jets struck Iranian military sites in Syria

The Israeli military said its jets struck Iranian military targets in Syria early Monday, an announcement that marked a rare departure from Israel's yearslong policy of ambiguity regarding activities in neighboring Syria.

The military said the targets included munition storage facilities, an intelligence site and a military training camp.

The strikes were in response to a surface-to-surface rocket that Iranian forces fired toward Israel on Sunday that was intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system over a ski resort in the Golan Heights. That launch followed a rare Israeli daylight air raid near the Damascus International Airport.

Israel Announces Sustained Strikes On Damascus; Syria Fires Back In Major Escalation

It's the first time that Israel has ever announced strikes against Iran inside Syria and in real time. Moments after a massive wave of rockets were fired on Damascus, activating Syrian anti-air defenses Sunday night, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced: "We have started striking Iranian Quds targets in Syrian territory. We warn the Syrian Armed Forces against attempting to harm Israeli forces or territory."

Massive blast rocks Damascus, no group claims responsibility

A bomb attack hit the southern region of Syria’s capital Damascus on Sunday morning, according to a Syrian state-owned media outlet. The explosion left a number of victims, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), while the exact number of casualties is yet to be determined.

The first report of the explosion suggested the offence was a terrorist act, while no group claimed responsibility for the explosion, the state news agency SANA said.

The explosion targeted a military checkpoint in an area where the nearby roads were closed, SANA reported, adding that a second attack in the same area was thwarted by security forces.

Try to Figure Out Where Labour Ends and Likud Starts

A few days before Christmas, Labour Cllr Richard Watts and the Islington Council, acting at the request of the UK Likud Herut Director, chose to stop me from playing with the Blockheads. The impoverished Council, in an odd interpretation of working for its citizens, hired two partners from one of London’s most expensive law firms to help them in their crusade against my saxophone.

Their action prompted hundreds of complaints and a petition of protest from almost 7000. Despite the backlash, another Labour councillor has stepped in to try to ruin my musical career. Rachel Eden has in the past attempted to interfere with my literature event at Reading Literary Festival, organised a protest against me without knowing who I was and what I stood for, and is on the Zionist We Believe in Israel list of 2016 General Election candidates who pledge their support for Israel.

Battling treacherous office chairs and aching backs, aging cops and firefighters miss years of work and collect twice the pay

When Capt. Tia Morris turned 50, after about three decades in the Los Angeles Police Department, she became eligible to retire with nearly 90% of her salary.

But like many cops and firefighters in her position, the decision to keep working was a financial no-brainer, thanks to a program that allowed her to nearly double her pay by keeping her salary while also collecting her pension.

A month after Morris entered the program, her husband, a detective, joined too. Their combined income for four years in the Deferred Retirement Option Plan was just shy of $2 million, city payroll records show.

But the city didn’t benefit much from the Morrises’ experience: They both filed claims for carpal tunnel syndrome and other cumulative ailments about halfway through the program. She spent nearly two years on disability and sick leave; he missed more than two years, according to a Times analysis of city payroll data.

Why "Democratic Vote Harvesting" Will Be The Biggest Topic Of 2020

During last November's midterm elections, California Republicans in several districts watched election night victories melt into losses thanks to a tactic employed by Democrats called "ballot harvesting," which allows anyone to go door-to-door and collect mail-in ballots on behalf of voters.

Illegal in many states, the practice flipped the Republican stronghold of Orange County completely blue after an unprecedented 250,000 vote-by-mail drop-offs were counted according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

As 2020 approaches, Democrats in Congress want to apply several California voting laws across the country via their "For The People Act," or H.R.1, which would require all 50 states to adopt automatic voter registration based on federal databases - such as those on food stamps. It also mandates looser rules governing provisional ballots, two weeks of early voting, prohibits restrictions on voting by mail, and limits the ability for states to remove voters from rolls.

Enacting Dr. King’s ‘Boycott Agenda’ Today

The day before he was killed, in his famous “Mountaintop” speech, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called for a boycott of Coca-Cola and Wonder Bread. Here’s what he said:

We don’t have to argue with anybody. We don’t have to curse and go around acting bad with our words. We don’t need any bricks and bottles. We don’t need any Molotov cocktails. We just need to go around to these stores, and to these massive industries in our country, and say, “God sent us by here, to say to you that you’re not treating his children right. And we’ve come by here to ask you to make the first item on your agenda fair treatment, where God’s children are concerned. Now, if you are not prepared to do that, we do have an agenda that we must follow. And our agenda calls for withdrawing economic support from you.”

They’re still not treating the children right. This time it’s the foundations built on profits from Microsoft and WalMart, among others. It’s time to put Dr. King’s agenda in motion.

The Yellow Vest Movement Has Gone Global

And while most of the protests outside of France happened last month, this is a good list to note where discontent is mounting.

Bulgaria: Yellow Vests began protesting the same weekend as the French movement – coming out in force on November 16 to protest in front of parliament and demand the resignation of the government.

Canada: Yellow Vest protests have taken place in more than a dozen cities across Canada – largely campaigning against the carbon price, Canada’s participation in the UN’s Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, the Trudeau administration and other issues.
Croatia: Croatians came out in force on December 15, gathering in Ban Jelacic Square.

Egypt: An Egyptian A lawyer was arrested and jailed for 15 days after he posted a picture of himself wearing a Yellow Vest in support of the French protests.

Finland: Finns came out in force in mid-December as well, gathering in front of Parliament in opposition to the UN’s Global Migration pact.

COMMENTARY: My son was killed by an illegal immigrant

As a mother who lost her child at the hands of failed immigration policies, I know just how important border security is to American families.

I watched my son, Javier Vega, Jr., gunned down by two illegal aliens who viciously ambushed our family while we were on a fishing trip in Texas.

Javier served his country as both a Border Patrol Agent and a U.S. Marine, but he spent his last moments bravely defending my family from these ruthless animals.

Any mother who has lost a child in this way can attest that there is nothing more gut-wrenching than knowing that their sacrifice was entirely avoidable.

Politicians had neglected their responsibility to keep my son safe by ignoring our country’s desperate need for immigration reform for decades.

Make No Mistake: ISIS Needs the U.S. to Survive

“No war is over until the enemy says it’s over,” James Mattis, the former Marine Corps General and recently resigned secretary of state, is quoted as saying. “We may think it over, we may declare it over, but in fact, the enemy gets a vote.” Mattis’s statement was made in 2012, well before President Donald Trump, in a surprise announcement on December 19, declared victory over the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, better known as ISIS.

“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency,” the president wrote. He later expanded on that sentiment in a video message, posted on Twitter. “Our boys, our young men and women, are coming home now,” Trump noted. “We won.”

Court Rules Undercover Videos of Planned Parenthood Selling Baby Body Parts as Authentic (Evidence of Criminal Behavior)

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the state of Texas can strip taxpayer subsidies from Planned Parenthood, primarily based on evidence found in undercover videos of the abortion provider’s involvement in harvesting and selling aborted baby body parts for profit.

The undercover videos in question were first released in 2015 by David Daleiden, founder and project lead at the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), and scrutinized by Planned Parenthood and members of the media as “deceptively edited.”

“Planned Parenthood for years has been smearing us trying to say the videos were not accurate or somehow misleading,” Daleiden said in an interview with Federalist contributor DC McAllister. “The Fifth Circuit explicitly found in their ruling last night that the Center for Medical Progress’ videos are authentic…and could be relied upon by Texas and by others as the regulatory and other enforcement proceedings.”

Vatican 'knew paedophile Argentine bishop who Pope Francis treated as his 'spiritual son' had taken naked selfies and performed sex acts in public'

The actions of an Argentinian bishop who allegedly sexually abused his Catholic students, took naked selfies and performed sex acts in public was known to the Vatican, it has emerged.

Other colleagues also reported allegations of abuses of power and sexual harassment of adult seminarians, said former vicar of the same parish Juan Jose Manzano.

The new reports undermine Vatican claims that allegations of sexual abuse were only made a few months ago.

German arms manufacturer to sue govt over weapons deliveries’ halt to Saudi Arabia – report

Berlin might face a lawsuit from one of Germany’s largest defense contractors, Rheinmetall, over its decision to halt all arms deals with Riyadh in the wake of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Der Spiegel reports.

Rheinmetall AG might file a claim for compensation against the federal government worth millions of euro, the company said in a letter to the Ministry of Economics, the German weekly says. The defense industry giant considers itself eligible for restitution as Berlin suspended exports, which were already approved by the German security council, “for political reasons.”
