‘US pretends there are moderates in Syria, Russia understands they are all terrorists’

On Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry met in Geneva for a 12-hour marathon session to discuss their countries’ respective strategies in Syria. The diplomats claimed they had made progress during the talks, saying they had reduced areas of misunderstanding. No official breakthrough statement was made, however.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Kerry: Russia must leave Syria!

Lavrov: But we were invited. You were not.

Kerry: You must stop bombing the terrorists.

Lavrov: Maybe you should stop paying them to be terrorists.

Kerry: You will surrender Syria to us!

Lavrov: But we're winning!

Kerry: Well, you are just being unreasonable here!

Contrast Between Russian and German Birthrate Policies Could Not Be Starker

A recent Mercator article grudgingly admitted that: "Despite a terrible recent economic performance, dedpite a fall in output, a slow and steady increase in unemployment, despite a rise in general economic stress, Russia's birth rate has not fallen and the death rate is sharply decreasing. As Adomanis notes, this is in sharp contrast with the USA where “it is widely acknowledged that the Great Recession caused siginifcant downward pressure on the birth rate”. Not just in the United States, but in other western nations as well..." This is also a growth in Russia's native population, not a growth in its Muslim population, as many critics like to point out... Put simple, the incentive programs put out by Putin to alleviate Russia's demographic crisis have started working, and the news seems to be positive. Russia still has a long way to go to get its birth/death rate in the green, but the leadership of the nation seems to take the problem very seriously.

Don't mess with Donbass: Massive Russian military drills send warning to Ukraine

The ongoing drill is the largest one that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have held in a year and a half. Attention should be drawn to the fact that the center of military exercises has shifted to the South. In June-early July of this year, basic exercises were held in North-West Russia in response to NATO military activity in the Baltic countries. It’s difficult not to see a foreign policy motivation in the choice of these districts for a sudden armed forces check. The Southern and Western Military Districts of Russia border with Ukraine. Meanwhile, on the border with Russian Crimea, Ukrainian troops are in full combat readiness. What’s more, the intensity of UAF shellings of the republics of Donbass (including the use of volley fire systems) is growing. According to reports from the DPR’s military leadership, Ukraine has deployed 140 additional units of military vehicles to the contact line.

Russian pilots put out 17 wildfires endangering Portuga

Seventeen blazes, charring a total area of 2,000 hectares in Portugal, have been extinguished by the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s aircraft over the past two weeks, the ministry’s press service has informed TASS. "During this period, the Emergencies Ministry’s aircraft dropped over 1,000 tons of water making 89 discharges. They extinguished a total of 17 infernos with a total area of nearly 2,000 hectares and prevented the blaze from spreading to three national parks and eleven populated localities, home to more than 62,000 people," the ministry said. Two Russian Beriev Be-200 aircraft arrived in Portugal on August 13 and began operations the next day. The Beriev Be-200 multipurpose airplane, known as one of the world’s most effective aircraft for firefighting, has a capacity of 12 tons of water and is capable of suppressing large-scale wildfires by conducting multiple water drops on a fire site.

"In the Black Sea Fleet, in order to carry out tasks of the snap inspection, as part of naval battle groups, anti-ship strike groups, mine-sweeping groups and detachments of amphibious ships, over 15 warships came out to sea," the department said in a Friday statement. The statement added that more than ten warships, boats and support vessels, as well as minesweepers from the Caspian Flotilla also sailed out as part of the combat readiness checks. The August 25-31 inspections are running across Russia's Southern, Western and Central military districts, as well as the Northern Fleet, Aerospace Forces and Airborne Troops.

If one is to take careful measure of Anthony M. Barrett’s perspective essay entitled “False Alarms, True Dangers? /Current and Future Risks of Inadvertent U.S.-Russian Nuclear War”, [ next article down] we might possibly assume that the analyst’s suggestion of an ‘inadvertent’ nuclear war is more of a false flag scenario than a veiled threat - a pre-emptive, nuclear strike by either of the two nation-states. In the beginning of his essay, Mr. Barrett gives the signal that he is truly concerned about “an inadvertent nuclear conflict between the United States and Russia—that is, a conflict that begins when one nation misinterprets an event (such as a training exercise, a weather phenomenon, or a malfunction) as an indicator of a nuclear attack or a provocation”.

The Sykes-Picot Agreement And Russia

For almost four centuries – from the beginning of the 16th century until the end of World War I – most Arab countries were represented by Vilayets (provinces) of the Ottoman Empire while the western part of the Arab East was by that time already under the rule of colonial powers, England and France. In 1916, London and Paris secretly agreed on a future division of the Asian part of the Ottoman state, which was suffering defeat in the war. Under these agreements, after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, the Arab vilayets were to come under the mandate of these powers. Their representatives, Britain’s Sir Mark Sykes and Francois Georges-Picot of France went down in history as the authors of the first hastily put together version to colonially divide the Asian part of Ottoman Turkey...

U.S. Defense Contractors Tell Investors Russian Threat Is Great for Business

The escalating anti - Russian rhetoric in the U.S. presidential campaign comes in the midst of a major push by military contractors to position Moscow as a potent enemy that must be countered with a drastic increase in military spending by NATO countries. Weapon makers have told investors that they are relying on tensions with Russia to fuel new business in the wake of Russian’s annexation of Crimea and modest increases in its military budget. In particular, the arms industry — both directly and through its arsenal of hired-gun, think-tank experts and lobbyists – is actively pressuring NATO member nations to hike defense spending in line with the NATO goal for member states to spend at least 2 percent of gross domestic product on defense. Retired Army Gen. Richard Cody, a vice president at L-3 Communications, the seventh largest U.S. defense contractor, explained to shareholders in December that the industry was faced with a historic opportunity.

According to General Director of Rocket and Space Corporation Energia, Vladimir Solntsev, the new rocket will be able to deliver about 80 tons of payload into low support orbit. Its further evolution on the basis of RD-171 engines implies the possibility of increasing the carrying capacity up to 120 tons and, if necessary, to 160 tons. It will be possible to increase the payload by changing the rocket structure and expanding the capacity of the engine.

The Dangerous Temper Tantrums of US War Hawks. Make Russia and Iran “Pay a Price” for Fighting Terrorism in Syria

Similar to petulant children who do not get their own way, there is an increasingly choir of war hawks in the US who are pushing for a major escalation in the Syrian war. In response to the fading power of Washington in the world, and the success of the Syrian Army, Russia, Iran and Hezbollah, in fighting terrorism in Syria, the war hawks in Washington are calling for blood.

The fact that the government of Bashar al-Assad is still standing after the West has spent the last five years trying to overthrow it is too much for many in the US to accept. Furthermore, with a growing number of major powers forming strategic relationships outside of Washington’s control, US imperialists are increasingly terrified of how the geopolitical landscape is shaping up.

Making Russia and Iran “Pay a Price” for Fighting Terrorists in Syria

Webmaster's Commentary:

An escalation of the war on Syria, coupled with attacks against Russia, and Iran, are sheer madness.

Unfortunately, just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could do is no guarantee that they won't do it.

And of course, if it turns out that internal DNC and White House polls on the upcoming election indicate that Trump is going to win in a landslide, the DNC will be most delighted to "gift" him with a war before he has even taken the Oath of Office in January.

The Strategies of Global Warfare: War with China and Russia? Washington’s Military Design in the Asia-Pacific

It is important to focus on Southeast Asia and East Asia in a broader geopolitical context. China, North Korea as well as Russia are potential targets under Obama’s “Pivot to Asia”, involving the combined threat of missile deployments, naval power and pre-emptive nuclear war.

We are not dealing with piecemeal military endeavors. The regional Asia-Pacific military agenda under the auspices of US Pacific Command (USPACOM) is part of a global process of US-NATO military planning.

US military actions are carefully coordinated. Major military and covert intelligence operations are being undertaken simultaneously in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and the Asia Pacific region. In turn, the planning of military operations is coordinated with non-conventional forms of warfare including regime change, financial warfare and economic sanctions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why are peace and prosperity never the options here, only more wars and more destruction?!?

That is a question I want answered by our politicians.

I have a tremendous respect for Professor Chossudovsky; he does have a real gift for calling geopolitical issues like he sees them.

I cannot tell you when a major, dramatic moment of conflict is going to take place; but I can tell you, with a reasonable degree of certainty, that it is coming.

Watching what is going on around the world, courtesy of the US government, is kind of like watching that archetypal dream, where you see the coming of a slow-motion train wreck, and it is impossible to stop. And Mike and I have seen this coming for quite some time.

Poroshenko transfers 141 pieces of combat hardware to army to beef up grouping in Donbass

Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko has transferred 141 pieces of domestically-produced combat hardware to the country’s armed forces to strengthen their grouping in the area of Kiev’s military operation in Donbass.

"Today we’re transferring 141 pieces of military hardware produced and modernized at Ukrainian defense enterprises," Poroshenko said at the handover ceremony in the town of Chuguyev in the north-eastern Kharkov region.
As Poroshenko said, this combat hardware will help the Ukrainian army to defend the country more effectively and finally achieve peace in the Donbass region.

In 2016 alone, the Ukrainian armed forces have received over a thousand units of combat hardware, Poroshenko said. The Ukrainian leader also said that deliveries from foreign partners had been organized as well.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These tanks and combat hardware are not elements for peace; they are elements with which to start a war against rebel Eastern republics.

As reported yesterday at Mac Salvo's site,

The situation of the rising tensions between Ukraine and Russia is being paralleled by the war of words between the countries’ two leaders. As mentioned in a previous article, Vladimir Putin is still not satisfied with the alleged actions by Ukrainian commandos that killed one FSB officer and one enlisted man on two separate incidents. Putin went on to say that any meetings between Poroshenko and himself in the upcoming G-20 summit would be “pointless,” and accused Ukraine of conducting terror attacks. To further complicate the issue, the attacks were labeled as “border incursions,” as they occurred in Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. In addition to this, the 24th of August is rapidly approaching, and this is the date that Ukrainians celebrate their Independence Day…from the Soviet Union. This bears special noteworthiness, as it would be a prime moment to conduct an incursion due to the historical significance of the date. Vladimir Putin visited Crimea on August 19th and said the following to the Security Council of Sevastopol: “I think it’s obvious that Kiev’s current authorities are not seeking ways to solve problems through negotiations, but have turned to terrorism. We’re not going to cut our relations, despite the reluctance of the current authorities in Kiev to have full diplomatic ties at ambassador level.” None of this is sitting well with Poroshenko, and the process for drafting as many as 100,000 men was initiated by him with a letter last week.

These are not the moves of a country's leader who is looking for a peaceful resolution to a geopolitical conflict.

And the US-government-enabled Poroshenko may well believe that if they start a war, to reclaim their breakaway Eastern republics, (and Crimea) that the US will support them militarily, so he just may start a military offensive unilaterally, expecting that the US and NATO will support him.

That he doesn't understand that he is playing with fire, if he does pull a unilateral attack against the Eastern republics, is very, very troubling indeed.

Putin the peace broker? Russian president pushing for talks between Palestine and Israel

The Kremlin is said to be on a mission to bring Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and Israel's prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu together for a fresh round of talks aimed at ending violence that has ravaged the region.

Mr Putin's new diplomacy is likely to be interpreted in the West as an attempt to dislodge America as the Middle East's chief peace negotiator.

Brewing Collapse of the Western Monetary System? German Government Warns of an Upcoming Catastrophe, Tags Russia as an “Enemy Nation”

On a related note, against many Members of Parliament and several ministers, the German Bundeswehr (army) has declared Russia as an enemy nation. This is akin to a declaration of war. The head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma, Alexei Puschkow, has posted the Twitter message:

‘The decision of the German government declaring Russia to be an enemy shows Merkel’s subservience to the Obama administration.’

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to say that things are looking up, geopolitically, and that peace may break out; unfortunately, I cannot say that with a straight face right now.

The best you can do is not panic, but prepare, as we have stated all along.

Make sure that you have storable food; potable water; and any medications which you (or your pets) may take safely stored as well.

Make sure your bug-out kit is up to date, and please do know your kids' school's policy for releasing them before the end of their school day, and under what circumstances they can go back to their parents before then.

Have a pre-approved gathering place, if people are separated, to regroup.

The more you take care of this now, the easier it will be to withstand a real crisis if the excrement does hit the ventilation shaft soon.

I am no Nostradamus; but looking at the gathering collection of tensions, geopolitically, I cannot bet against a major military confrontation, involving US troops, possibly well before the end of the year.

I hope to heck I am wrong, but that's what it feels like to me.

China, Russia to hold South China Sea ‘drills’ next month

Amid rising tensions with the Obama administration and its neighbors across East Asia, China will hold a week of naval drills with Russia in the South China Sea next month, the two countries said Monday.

Vladimir Matveyev, spokesman for the Russian navy’s Pacific fleet, said the previously announced joint drills will be held over eight days starting Sept. 12 and will focus on protecting merchant ships in the heavily-trafficked waterway. The two navies will also engage in mock island landings, according to a report Monday in the TASS news agency.

The exercises come as Beijing had become increasingly assertive in its broad claims to sovereignty to the waters off its coastline, parts of which are also claimed by Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and other countries in the region.

Chinese state media reacted angrily last month when an international arbitration board in The Hague sided with Manila in a bilateral dispute over key strategic island outposts in the sea.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Again, we are looking at a ratcheting up of tensions with these "drills"

Tensions mount between Russia and Ukraine ahead of military drills

By any standard, the drumbeat of growing tensions between Russia and Ukraine this month has been especially ominous.

It began as Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Kiev of embracing the “tactics of terror,” after Russia claimed to have caught Ukrainian saboteurs in Crimea. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko put troops on alert and warned that the country might have to move toward martial law and mobilization if the conflict in the east or Crimea escalated.

Russia is set to hold large military drills on the peninsula next month. And in eastern Ukraine, the use of heavy weapons between Russian-backed separatists and the army has increased as opposing trenches have crept so close that opposing fighters can shout across the breach.

Analysts say tensions are at their highest since the signing of what are known as the Minsk agreements in February 2015.

And in Kiev, it is not unusual to hear again that Russia is preparing to invade Ukraine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My best bet, right now, is that Russia will not invade Ukraine: it is simply being very strongly intense with these exercises to telegraph to Ukraine not to mess with either Crimea or any other part of Russia.

Should Russia retaliate against the attempted Ukrainian sabotage in Crimea, that retaliation will most likely be asymmetric, and economic.

US Ready To Target Russian, Syrian Jets In Syria: Pentagon

The Pentagon has warned Syria and Russia that the US is ready to shoot down their planes, which Washington claims threaten American advisers in northern Syria.

The warning came after US fighter jets had tried to engage Syrian Arab Air Force aircraft in Syria last week, but the showdown was avoided as government planes left before the Americans arrived.

Russia Underlines Continued Combat Missions from Hamadan Air Base if Necessary

The Russian defense ministry announced on Monday that it has called back its air fleet from Western Iran after accomplishing all planned anti-terrorism missions in Syria, but meantime underlined that similar missions will be conducted from the Hamadan air base in future based on mutual agreement with Tehran.

Aug 23 09:37

Over the course of the 5 year-long civil war in Syria, the US has slowly escalated its military involvement. However one significant move which they have so far failed to implement is a No Fly Zone (NFZ) enforced by their aircraft over all (or just part) of Syria.

Despite this, today the US may have tacitly announced just such a NFZ. In a press conference this evening, the Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook, made a number of statements regarding US forces in Syria. These statements came following reports that the US backed SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) had been bombed by Assad Regime aircraft in the city of Hasakah in northern Syria. Such airstrikes were also dangerously close to US Special Forces who were assisting the SDF in their fight against ISIS.

Specifically Peter Cook said that the US would use its airpower “as needed” to protect US personnel and partner operations. The aim of this was reportedly to send a message to other parties to “stay away from our forces”.

Neocons and Clintonites have launched a major campaign with the goal of direct U.S. military intervention and aggression against Syria, potentially leading to war with Iran and Russia.

An early indication emerged as soon as it was clear the Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic Party nominee. Following the California primary, The New York Times reported on State Department diplomats issuing an internal memo “urging the United States to carry out military strikes against the government of President Bashar al Assad.”

.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivers remarks at a United Nations Security Council Session on the situation in Syria at the United Nations in New York on Jan. 31, 2012. [State Department Photo]

Webmaster's Commentary:

My dear Neocons/Clintonites; forgive me for my perplexity here.

The Russian military has been invited by the Syrian government to get rid of all the jihadists, attacking the country of Syria.

To the best of my knowledge and belief, as of today, the US military has NOT been invited to do the same, yet the US military is attempting, directly and indirectly, to bomb the crud out of Syria in order to affect regime change in Damascus.

And yesterday, the following statement was made by a very high ranking military official, to the effect that the US is ready to bomb Russian troops, defending the Syrian government;

Pentagon Says US Ready To Target Russian & Syrian Planes In Syria

Forgive me, but have you all gone collectively barking mad, just to please your Israeli/AIPAC enablers?!?

Israel wants regime change in Damascus in order to ultimately destroy Iran.

The US military, at this point in its existence, does not have the weaponry, the money, the troop strength, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia.

Our weapons procurement system is incestuous in the extreme, because those same Congressional Representatives who award weapons contracts are those same Representatives getting large contributions from our major arms manufacturers.

And how does this translate?!? By the time weapons are delivered to those military personnel who are supposed to use them, they many times are obsolete, in terms of other countries' weapons development, dysfunctional, and way over budget.

And one of the things which strikes me here is...the timing of this pressure on Obama to escalate this war.

The November election looms large, and I am willing to bet that both the DNC's and White House's internal polling show Trump winning that election in a landslide.

And what could be the nastiest thing the Democrats could possibly conjure, even before Trump takes the Oath of Office?!?

War with Russia over Syria must certainly sound like a delicious option to them.

After all, it is generally never their kids who get who get killed, or maimed for life, in such wars; it's other people's kids.

Syrian boy’s image shamelessly exploited for West’s war agenda

How many times have we seen this before? Western media selectively focusing on, or distorting, human suffering in order to fulfill a base political agenda – war – for powerful interests.
It is no coincidence Western media fevered with images of a five-year-old boy, pulled from rubble in Aleppo after an alleged air strike by Syrian government or Russian forces – and the very next day US warplanes were scrambled over northern Syria reportedly to ward off Syrian Su-24 fighter bombers.

American political analyst Randy Martin at told this author: “This is a prelude to an all-out war in Syria – one that would inevitably bring American and Russian forces into direct confrontation.”

China Joins Russia in Syria War? “Enhanced Military Aid” against US Sponsored Terrorists?

If Syria goes, Iran is next, a war if initiated by Washington far more potentially consequential and devastating.

Iran’s population alone makes it an important regional country – four times the size of Syria at around 80 million. Imagine the possible war-related death, injury and displacement toll.

Transforming the Islamic Republic into a US vassal state would give America and Israel unchallenged Middle East dominance.

Russian and Chinese regional influence would wane or be eliminated. The loss of Syrian and Iranian sovereignty would greatly aid the scourge of US imperialism worldwide – Moscow and Beijing the key independent powers standing in the way of its global dominance.

It is an irrefutable fact that the United States sponsors the militants, but only for a limited period of time in order to achieve certain policy objectives. For instance: the United States nurtured the Afghan jihadists during the Cold War against the erstwhile Soviet Union from 1979 to 1988, but after the signing of Geneva Accords and the consequent withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, the United States withdrew its support to the Afghan jihadists.

Rand Corp advising US to start War with China sooner rather than later

A new study by the RAND Corporation titled “War with China: Thinking Through the Unthinkable” is just the latest think tank paper devoted to assessing a US war against China. The study, commissioned by the US Army, provides further evidence that a war with China is being planned and prepared in the upper echelons of the American military-intelligence apparatus.

That the paper emerges from the RAND Corporation has a particular and sinister significance. Throughout the Cold War, RAND was the premier think tank for “thinking the unthinkable”—a phrase made notorious by RAND’s chief strategist in the 1950s, Herman Kahn. Kahn devoted his macabre book On Thermonuclear War to elaborating a strategy for a “winnable” nuclear war against the Soviet Union.

Ukraine Was Right! Why Russia Is The Biggest "Threat" In The World!

Is Russia really the greatest threat to the world? The answer lies somewhere between how you define a threat and what you’re actually afraid of. At that starting point what the western world screams is scaring them isn’t a Russian bogeyman or specter of Russian world domination. It’s entirely different. It’s very weird. Ukraine was right. Russia in this context is the biggest threat to Ukraine and possibly the world.

To make the point many of the citations used in this article will come from Ukrainian nationalist scholarship. There was a brief golden age in Ukrainian nationalist scholarship when the academics actually tried to make sense of things going on in the world. They tried to stay with the facts. After a short time, the 15-year run-up to Euro-Maidan happened. They learned to lie, and afterward to spout off like they were put on what really powerful narcotics to try to romanticize and justify the atrocities committed in Donbass.

What Should We Do About Crimea?

Though the US media pins the blame exclusively on Russia for these tensions, in reality there is plenty of blame to go around. We do know that the US government has been involved with "regime change" in Ukraine repeatedly since the break up of the Soviet Union. The US was deeply involved with the "Orange Revolution" that overthrew elected president Viktor Yanukovych in 2005. And we know that the US government was heavily involved in another coup that overthrew the same elected Yanukovych again in 2014.

How do we know that the US was behind the 2014 coup? For one, we have the intercepted telephone call between US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and US Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt. In the recording, the two US officials are plotting to remove the elected government and discussing which US puppet they will put in place.

Follow the money trail for source of 'Russian threat' paranoia

Ask yourself who benefits financially from all this scaremongering and then you’ll understand it.

This week, The Intercept revealed how US defense contractors have been telling investors that the so-called ’Russian threat’ was good for business.

Retired Army general Richard Cody, vice-President of the US’s seventh largest defense contractor, L-3 communications, bemoaned the fact that "when the old Cold War ended’ defense budgets went south". Now though a ’resurgent Russia’ meant an "uptick was coming".

There was a similarly upbeat message from Stuart Bradie, chief executive of CBR, who talked of the "opportunities" the current situation presents.

The case for higher defense spending to counter the ‘Russian threat’ has been made by a series of think-tanks. And guess what? The most hawkish of these lobbyists - sorry, ‘think tanks’ - receive sizable funding from US defense contractors!

Webmaster's Commentary:

The fact that a lot of people will get killed in these "sales support" wars is just the cost of doing business.

Here is the problem. Our economy cannot support any additional military spending. This new cold war followed by massive defense contracts could collapse the US economy completely. Russia isn't the existential threat, the military-industrial complex is!

On August 18th, the terrific “Moon of Alabama” blogger posted his brilliant exposé of an operation that the U.S. and its allies support and are lobbying to win the Nobel Peace Prize, but that’s really just a group of people who help Syria’s anti-Assad jihadists by medicating their injured jihadists, and by carrying off and disposing of the jihadists’ victims’ corpses. "For a long time, the growth of social protest was constrained by fears within Ukrainian society associated with a Russian invasion. Now, this fear has gradually begun to subside, and with it the country's social problems have once again come to the foreground among the public."

"Therefore," Galkin noted, "the authorities would like Ukrainians to believe in the real possibility of a military confrontation with Russia. This is the only way for the president to strengthen his position."

Irony: FBI, DOJ Launch Criminal Probe of Hillary Campaign Chair Over Putin Links

It seems like just yesterday that the top campaign official for Donald Trump found himself caught in the middle of a political dragnet for his work as a lobbyist on behalf of Viktor Yanukovych with the media clamoring about his purported ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a reason why the Republican nominee was a less desirable candidate than Hillary Clinton. Wait, that was just yesterday?

It turns out that Hillary Clinton’s campaign guru, head of the lobbying firm the Podesta Group, has found himself smack dab in the middle of the same criminal investigation spawned when devious political operatives decide to merge international relations with campaign politics. Syrian regime jets hit Kurdish positions, even after US warning

Syrian regime jets pounded US-backed Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria for a second day, even after the US-led coalition scrambled jets to protect its military advisers working on the ground.

In another escalation of Syria's bloody conflict, warplanes from President Bashar al-Assad's regime were bombarding the city of Hasakeh -- targeting Kurdish forces that for months have worked closely with coalition military advisers helping local fighters combat the Islamic State group.

On Thursday, the United States sent fighter jets to head off air strikes conducted by regime planes and to protect coalition advisers, but the Syrian planes had left by the time they arrived.

It appears that I have to, once again, politely remind the US government and military that the Sovereign Country of Syria does not have to do ANYTHING the US government or military orders them to do, because it is THEIR COUNTRY, and not ours.

Russia was invited to take care of the jihadists by Syrian President al-Assad; the US government has not been invited to do so.

Leaked Memo Proves Soros Ruled Ukraine In 2014: Minutes From “Breakfast With US Ambassador Pyatt”

We noted in a previous post how important Ukraine was to George Soros, with documents from DC Leaks that show Soros, and his Open Society NGO, scouring the Greek media and political landscape to push the benefits of his Ukraine coup upon a Russian leaning Greek society. Now more documents, in the massive 2,500 leaked tranche, show the immense power and control Soros had over Ukraine immediately following the illegal Maidan government overthrow.

Failed Coup in Turkey, Escalating War in Ukraine, The Battle For Aleppo, Freedom for Saif al-Gaddafi in Libya

With the provocations in Crimea and treachery in Syria hopefully Russia will get it’s revenge by helping Syria crush this NATO terrorist invasion. Syria is on the offensive seizing back the most of the 1070 apartments and the air force technical college. They made other important gains in Damascus, Latakia, and Deir Ezzor but of course the war continues. In Libya the power of the green resistance continues to grow despite the dirty war being waged on the country by NATO. In Turkey Erdogan is on the rampage purging his opponents. In Crimea the situation is tense but thankfully the people have been spared a wave of terror bombings and assassinations thanks to the quick response of the FSB and the Russian military. Donbass remains under fire it’s plight forgotten by the outside world which continues to ignore the menace of fascism in Ukraine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, these setbacks have caused the power elite in DC to feel cornered and wounded; and there are very few things more dangerous to peace in the world than people feeling cornered and wounded.

More About A U.S.-And-Allied Hoax Against Assad

On August 18th, the terrific “Moon of Alabama” blogger posted his brilliant exposé of an operation that the U.S. and its allies support and are lobbying to win the Nobel Peace Prize, but that’s really just a group of people who help Syria’s anti-Assad jihadists by medicating their injured jihadists, and by carrying off and disposing of the jihadists’ victims’ corpses.

Ukraine complains to UN about Putin’s trip to Crimea

"Vladimir Yelchenko met with UN Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson. They discussed Vladimir Putin’s illegal stay in Crimea. Yelchenko also drew Jan Eliasson’s attention to concentration of Russian armaments along the Russian-Ukrainian border in Crimea and Donbass," the mission said on Twitter.

Putin arrived in Crimea on Friday to meet with permanent members of Russia’s Security Council after a recent attempt of an act of sabotage on the peninsula on the part of Kiev.

Kiev believes such visits by Russian officials are illegal and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expressed protest.

'US apoplectic as Turkey pivots eastward'

Turkish President Erdogan has given up on NATO and the EU, and is pivoting toward the East, says ex-Pentagon official Michael Maloof. As Ankara and Moscow discuss military ties, this offers an intriguing new opportunity for regional cooperation.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, in an interview with Sputnik news agency, said that Ankara is considering military cooperation with Russia as NATO seems to be shying away from relations with Turkey.

Putin Flies Into Crimea As Ukraine "Prepares For An Invasion"

At the same time that Russia is condicting its latest massive military drill on the border with Ukraine, and one day after the latest stark warning by Ukraine' president Poroshenko that the simmering conflict with Russia may be set to explode again when he said on national TV that “the probability of escalation and conflict remains very significant" adding that "we don’t rule out full-scale Russian invasion", Russian president Putin made a not so subtle point that Crimea will not be relinquished when he flew into contested territory on Friday, one day after staging war games there, and said he hoped Ukraine would see "common sense" when it came to resolving a diplomatic crisis over the peninsula.

Aerial close encounter between US, Syrian jets

Two American F-22s on patrol over Hasakah, Syria, flew within a mile of two Syrian Su-24 fighter jets and "encouraged" them to leave Friday, a US defense official told CNN.

The close encounter comes only a day after two Syrian warplanes attacked the Kurds, a key US ally, forcing US special operations forces to be withdrawn from their position in northern Syria.
The American aircraft are part of the beefed-up US air combat patrols in the area that the Pentagon had announced following Thursday's attack.
The pilots of the F-22 Raptors tried to call the Syrian aircraft cockpit-to-cockpit but got no response, the US official added.
US defense officials had told CNN earlier that the military had pulled US special operations forces from their northern Syria position after the Syrian military began bombing nearby, attacking Kurdish positions in and around the city of Hasakah.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to Barbara Starr, and Ryan Browne: it is apparent that I need to politely remind you that Russia's military was invited to get rid of the jihadists by the sitting, and democratically elected, President Al Assad; the US military has not been invited to do so.

The US government's narrative, over the last 4 years, has been to create regime change Syria, and, by any means necessary, install a Western-centric government in Damascus, no matter what the cost is to the Syrian people.

One can only speculate what the US government is going to be willing to do, if either Russia, or the Syrian Army shoots down, or kills on the ground, more of the US government's alleged "moderate rebels"

And I would also like to politely remind both of you that, should there be a military confrontation between the US military and the Russian military over Syria, the US military does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the money; or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional military confrontation against Russia.

Yes, the US government spends an obscene amount of money on military hardware and software; but the bang for its buck is completely neutered by the incestuous relationship between defense contractors, and those politicians which both green light defense contractors, and willingly take campaign contributions from those same defense contractors.

(VIDEO) The Russians Have Already Shot Down Numerous US Drones Violating Crimean Airspace

The war you don’t hear about: numerous American military aircraft (albeit of the unmanned variety, though with the possibility of being armed and dangerous) have apparently been violating Russian airspace, leading to the Russians shooting - yes, shooting - them down following the refusal of the Americans to acknowledge Russian diplomatic notes of protest.

Aug 20 08:40

The escalating anti-Russian rhetoric in the U.S. presidential campaign comes in the midst of a major push by military contractors to position Moscow as a potent enemy that must be countered with a drastic increase in military spending by NATO countries.

Webmaster's Commentary:

1. Russia did not annex Crimea; after the putsch in Kiev in 2014, which threw Yanukovich, the duly elected President, under the proverbial bus, and anointed Poroshenko as Ukraine's President, Crimean authorities understood that there was no legitimate government in Kiev. They therefore held a free and fair referendum, to decide if they wanted to stay with Ukraine, post putsch, or petition the Russian Federation to join. In an overwhelming vote, Crimeans decided to to petition the Russian Federation to join. The Russian Federation accepted this request. Russia did absolutely nothing wrong here.
2. It is very alarming, but perfectly predictable to me, that weapons manufacturers and banks can smell money in the bloodshed which is almost surely to come from any kind of US/Russian military conflict regarding Ukraine, as the demonisation of Russia, which you see in all the presstitute/whorespondent outlets, continues to escalate.

Survey: Is Putin Being Used as a Nail in Trump's Coffin?

Donald Trump's presidential campaign has gotten into deep trouble over Putin. It started off last year when his comments about Putin and Russia began making news.

On September 16, 2015, The Hill ran the headline, "Trump: 'I would get along with Putin.'" The article quoted Trump saying "I would talk to him, I would get along with him…. I may be wrong, in which case I'd probably have to take a different path."

To me this sounds like an intention to approach relations with an open mind. And if evidence arises that "getting along" is not a good idea, he would be ready to change course. What's wrong with that? It's a policy I'd admire if Hillary Clinton embraced it too.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is no secret that the military industrial complex yearns to return to the days of the Cold War when vast sums of money flowed from the pockets of the people into the defense contractors who produced expensive weapons of dubious usefulness, and they got away with it because in theory those weapons would never actually be used. Politicians long for the days when the American people were brainwashed to wet their pants at the mere mention of the word "Communist" and were terrorized into unquestioning obedience.

Putin's decision to take direct control of Russia's central bank made him the instant enemy of private central banks around the world and virtually overnight transformed Putin and Russia from friend to the top spot on the US Government's Special High Interest Targets list!

Then came the Wikileaks exposing DNC, which was blamed on Russia and Putin to help Trump, even though Julian Assange hinted it was actually an internal leak by now-murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich.

Trump's manager Paul Manafort resigned accused of taking money from Ukraine's Putin buddy ex-president of Ukraine Yanachovich. But the evidence was provide by none other than the junta Oligarchs people running Ukraine now that were put by Obama's administration, Hillary, and Victoria Nuland, and propagandized by the same corporate media that is still ignoring Hillary's Uranium One deal that transferred 20% of America's uranium resources into Russian control ... following generous Russian donations to the Clinton Foundation.

Biden's son now on board of big company in Ukraine.

So those Junta owe their new ownership of Ukraine to Democrats, and they hate Putin or anybody in the US who wants to normalize relationship with Moscow, because they'll lose their ill-gotten gains a result.

The end game by Democrats now is falsely paint Trump as a Russian agent and Putin's buddy to win the race, hoping that enough Americans are still brainwashed from the 1950s and 1960s to wet themselves on hearing the word "Russian", bolstered by the constant propaganda that Russia is about to invade Ukraine and start WW3, that they will stop supporting Trump.

So, yes, Putin is being used by the Democrats as a weapon against Trump, but today's enlightened Americans have a much clearer understanding of what is really going on.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Putin is simply calling Poroshenko's bluff, and my sense is that Russia will not at all invade Ukraine; I think their responses will be both asymmetric, and economic, as the Ukrainian economy is on the ropes right now, and it eh slightest of tremors could send its economy crashing.

Ukraine may impose martial law if eastern fighting worsens: Poroshenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Thursday he did not rule out introducing martial law and a new wave of military mobilisation if the conflict with pro-Russian separatists worsened. Poroshenko made his comments as fresh tension with Russia over Crimea reignited fears that a fragile ceasefire deal hammered out in the Belarussian capital Minsk in February 2015 could collapse following the deadliest month of fighting in a year. “If the situation escalates in the east and in Crimea we don’t rule out the possibilities (that) we will be forced to introduce martial law and announce a (further) mobilisation,” Poroshenko said in a televised speech from the western Lviv region. Poroshenko did not make clear what introduction of martial law might mean, and whether he was talking about martial law in the whole country or only in some parts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Poroshenko is expecting a revolt from within Ukraine with which to move him out of power, and thinks martial law will be the tool for preventing that.

That is why he is pounding on alleged "Russian aggression" as the potential justification for declaring martial law.

Congress Seeks to Establish Russia as Permanent Enemy

The Cold War provided a solid generation of unfettered government growth in the US on the pretext of the Russian threat, and over the past few years American officials have relished at the new round of tensions with Russia, and the budget-busting spending it has permitted.

They’re hoping to make that permanent, with a new bill called the STAND for Ukraine Act aiming to make temporary measures imposed during Ukraine’s regime change permanent, and hamstring all future governments from a diplomatic rapprochement with Russia.

The new push centers in part on the fear that some future president might be less on-board with open-ended hostilities. Current Republican nominee Donald Trump has expressed doubt about the current acrimony, and said if elected he would be open to lifting sanctions on Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

WOW! We know there was trouble with lead in the pipes for the House of Representatives this year;

After Lead Contamination In House Office Building’s Water, Lawmakers Demand EPA ReformsBut did lead also lead to the crazy thinking in the Senate, for these people to want to permanently enshrine a state of economic war against Russia?!?

I would like to politely remind our readers, that economic wars frequently devolve into shooting wars.

It is apparent to me that the money junkies are so terrified of a potential Trump presidency, which may herald better relationships with lots of other countries, that they will do anything to prevent any kind of better relations with Russia.

And this "anything" is pretty demonstrably creepy. As reported by Boris Zilberman on May 6th of this year:

Representative Eliot L. Engel (D-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) today announced that they have introduced comprehensive legislation to address the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. An additional bipartisan group of 14 members, including the bipartisan leadership of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, joined Reps. Engel and Kinzinger to introduce the Stability and Democracy (STAND) for Ukraine Act (H.R. 5094), which clarifies the position of the United States on Russia’s illegal occupation of Crimea, tightens sanctions on Russia, and drives new innovations to provide support for Ukraine.”

Russia's alleged "illegal occupation of Crimea... never happened.

And I would politely like to remind Representatives Engel and Kinzinger that lying to the American people, in order to further a "narrative" which may ultimately lead to a shooting war against Russia,as did the Bush Administration's claim against Iraq, that "Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction", will not be tolerated by the American people again, ever.

Here is the actual timeline of Crimea's referendum to leave the Ukraine, which passed unanimously, and its petition to the Russian Federation to become accepted as a member:

Crimea's case for leaving Ukraine

Next, I would like to remind Representatives Engel and Kinzinger that
Victoria Nuland boasted about having undercut the legitimate government of Ukraine when Yanukovich got unceremoniously thrown under the proverbial bus, and Poroshenko was "anointed" the country's President:

American Conquest by Subversion: Victoria Nuland’s Admits Washington Has Spent $5 Billion to “Subvert Ukraine”

And lastly, the "contributions"
of the international financier with an infinite capability for seeing potential money in the blood of mass murder, George Soros:

Representatives, I am just an ordinary person; but if I can figure this out, so can most thinking Americans, and I would strongly suggest that there are more of them out there than you care to number.

This legislation is a nasty piece of work; please withdraw it from consideration.

And although I do not know, I would strongly suspect that both of you have a lot of investment in the military/industrial complex, and would benefit, financially, from such a war.

Sponsoring this legislation makes it painfully clear that you do not really serve the best interests of the people you allegedly represent, but the interests of those companies which would profit highly from a war against Russia, including the banks which loan money, to all sides, to keep the war going.

Russia Must Counter Threats of NATO Deployment in East Europe - Envoy

Russia must take all measures, including military, to counter threats linked to the deployment of NATO's extra-capabilities in Eastern Europe, Russia’s envoy to NATO Alexander Grushko said Thursday.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said members of the alliance agreed at the July 8 Warsaw Summit to strengthen the military bloc’s presence in Eastern Europe by next year.

The four-battalion rotational presence would include US troops in Poland, British forces in Estonia, German troops in Lithuania and Canadian forces in Latvia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Map of Russia With Surrounding Countries

These deployments are engineered to encircle Russia on its Eastern front.

And after the completion of this encirclement?!? What comes next?!?

Right now, given the volatility of events in the region, I certainly would not bet against it.

Turkish FM: NATO's Inaction Forces Ankara to Develop Military Ties With Russia

It’s a pity that peaceful civilians keep dying in Syria. Unfortunately, the earlier agreed ceasefire is being violated. We need to wage an all-out war against terrorist organizations in Syria. If we don’t flush them out, the wave or terrorism will keep spreading across the world, like an epidemic, threatening Turkey, Russia, Europe, the whole world.

A meeting of Russian and Turkish military officials in Ankara on Thursday was an important step toward prevention of airspace accidents, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Kemal Aydin said.
Turkey-Russia Committee on Syria to Hold 1st Meeting - Erdogan's Spokesman
That’s why we need to act together also on this track. We believe that the Syrian problem can be resolved if all countries come together in good faith. As we have said once and again, even during this period of crisis between us, without Russia there will be no lasting settlement in Syria. We keep insisting on this now.

When President Obama's foreign policy goes wrong, it goes spectacularly wrong, as evidenced by Turkey's post-coup warming of relations with Russia, including issues of trade, and coming military cooperation.

That DC could, collectively think Erdogan wouldn't blame the US for the aborted coup was simply...magical thinking.

Following "Deadliest Month" In A Year, Ukraine President Warns Of "Full-Scale Russian Invasion"

The last month has seen Russia pull out of peace talks (citing attacks in Crimea and detention of key individuals) and an increasing mobilization of Ukraine troops near the Russian border, and now, after the deadliest month since last August, Ukraine president Poroshenko has warned he isn't ruling out a full-scale Russian invasion and may institute a military draft if the situation with its neighbor worsens.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Right after being "installed and anointed" as Ukraine's President, Poroshenko has been crying wolf about a potential "Russian invasion" over the last two years, and yet ... no such invasion has come about.

My guess is that Russia's response to the attempted sabotage in Crimea by Ukrainian agents provocateurs will be asymmetric, and most probably economic in nature.

The Ukrainian economy is hanging by a thread right now, and could be pushed over the edge by some very clever maneuvering on Putin's part; that will get the Ukrainian people so outraged, that Poroshenko has failed them so badly economically, that they will throw the current bums out of office - possibly, quite literally.
