‘TRUCKLOADS’ OF US ARMS AND AMMO REACH KURDISH MILITIA IN SYRIA – REPORTS

Over 100 trucks loaded with US armaments and ammunition, including heavy mortars and anti-tank missiles, have reached the Kurdish controlled northern Syrian city of Hasakah over the past weeks, Turkish and Kurdish media report.
The US arms shipment was reserved for the multi-ethnic Syrian militia known as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) dominated by Kurdish YPG units, according to the media reports.

The SDF is fighting Islamic State (IS, former ISIS/ISIL) and is preparing to launch an offensive on the city of Raqqa, considered to be the self-proclaimed capital of IS in Syria.

The trucks carrying the arsenal crossed into Syria from northern Iraq through the Simelka border crossing on two separate occasions on May 15 and May 20, Turkey's Daily Sabah reports.

The convoys reportedly moved to Hasakah and later headed to the Raqqa region where the SDF are currently battling Islamic State militants.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question I would have to ask right now is, how long will Syria, Russia and Turkey allow this destabilisation to move forward in Syria?!?

Because the establishment of an independent Kurdistan will be seen as an existential threat by Turkey, who consider the Kurds an existential threat, and the Syrians and Russians, who don't dont want Syria having to yield one inch of its sovereign territory?!?

I don't know what the Vegas odds are on this, but I have to wonder; just when will American troops, fighting with the Kurds, be meeting up with Russian ground troops here?!?

Because my concern is, this is only a matter of when, not if, this happens, at this point.

Russian Defence Minister: White Helmets chemical attack footage ‘staged’

After months of examining what little footage exists from the alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria’s Idlib Governorate from the 4th of April, Russia Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu has reached the conclusion that the entity of the footage is fake.

The pro-al-Qaeda group White Helmets who have recently been caught participating in a mass beheading, provided the US with footage of the aftermath of the alleged attack. Self-described rescuers were seen handling bodies which had been allegedly infected with sarin gas, without gloves, chemical resistant body suits or proper masks.

America Arms The Kurds And Terrorists, Turks Bomb Kurds and Assist Terrorists: What Side Is Everyone On?

By Brandon Turbeville

Recently, the Trump administration approved the arming of Kurdish militias in Syria with heavy weapons. Early on, Trump had allowed for the shipment of various armored vehicles and light weaponry to be shipped to Kurdish fighters but the new announcement will see restrictions removed and allow for even more plentiful and powerful weaponry being sent to Kurds in Syria who are battling terrorists, Turkey, the Syrian military, and non-Kurd militias.

Turkey is obviously outraged at the new announcement. These Kurdish fighters are bound to use those arms against Turkey at some point if for no other reason that the fact that Turkey has invaded Syrian territory and launched a war not on ISIS but the YPG...

US Killed Record Number of Civilians in Past Month of ISIS Strikes: At Least 225 Civilians in the Past Month

The US is eager to brag about their record number of airstrikes in the ISIS war, with the rate of growth in the number of strikes launched limited only by their ability to get enough weapons to drop on people. Officially, the death toll has remained trivial, albeit increasingly non-credible.

NGOs keeping track of the number of civilians the US is killing show a different story, however, with the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights putting the death toll at 225 over the last month, which by their reckoning is the most civilians the US has killed in any one month span of the ISIS war.

That’s a conservative estimate too, even though it’s likely more than 10 times what the Pentagon will admit to. Indeed, Air Wars themselves counted 230 civilians killed in a single US strike in Mosul, and they too recognize that the civilian toll is continuing to rise precipitously

Webmaster's Commentary:

To the Pentagon and the money junkies, the civilian death toll in these countries is absolutely meaningless; it's just "collateral damage" in the process of regime changing Damascus, and insuring that Iraq's oil is only sold to parties the US wants it sold to, and is sold for US dollars.

US Intelligence: Kurdish Independence Is Inevitable

“Kurdish independence is on a trajectory,” wherein it’s not a question of whether the Kurds will form an independent state, but a question of how soon, Defense Intelligence Agency Director Gen. Vincent Stewart told lawmakers on Tuesday.

"Once ISIS is defeated in Mosul, the greatest challenge to the Iraqi government is to reconcile the differences between the Shia-dominated government, the Sunnis out west, and the Kurds up north," he said.

The Kurdish ethnic group, with populations spanning Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Armenia and Syria, includes adherents to Islam, Christianity, Yarsanism, Yazidism, Alevism and Judaism, but a majority of Kurds are Sunni Muslim. There are an estimated 30 million Kurds, considered to be one of the largest stateless groups in the world.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No, a Kurdish state is not an "inevitability"; it is to be their "reward" for their fighting in Syria against the Syrian troops, and will involve the balkanising of areas in both Syria, and Iraq, i.e., the US government carving up the Middle East to suit their own purposes.

And I have to wonder; did Syria's Bashar al Assad and Iraq's Fuad Masum get the memo yet, that their countries are going to be carved up to accommodate an independent Kurdistan?!?

And with regard to Syria, what is Russia prepared to do to prevent this?!?

RUSSIAN JOURNALIST: WHY DOESN'T ISIS EVER ATTACK OR THREATEN ISRAEL? ASSAD: ISRAEL SUPPORTS ALL TERRORISTS IN THE REGION.

President Assad: Not only ISIS, of course, or Daesh, not only al-Nusra; anyone, any terrorist who holds a machine gun and started killing and destroying in Syria was supported by Israel, either indirectly through the logistical support on the frontier, or sometimes by direct intervention by Israel against Syria in different areas in Syria. Why? Because Israel is our enemy, because they occupy our lands, and they look at Syria as enemy of course, and for them they think if they undermine the position of Syria and make it weaker as a whole, as society, as army, as state, that will prevent Israel from moving toward the peace, and the price of the peace is to give back the Golan Heights to Syria. So, for them, Syria will be busy with another issue now, it would be busy to talk about the Golan or the peace process, or even to do anything to get back its land.

US Airdrops Forces in East Syria…‘Desert Volcano’ Launched

The US-led international coalition forces have conducted an airdrop of forces in east Syria against ISIS, killing eight militants, as the Free Syrian Army (FSA) kicked off its “desert volcano” battle to remove “Iranian militias” from the so-called triangle area where the borders of Jordan, Syria and Iraq meet.

The opposition “Syrian Media Committee” reported on Tuesday that coalition forces “conducted a new airdrop operation in al-Humayda area in the Bukamal city of the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and killed 8 ISIS members.”

Meanwhile, the founder of the Euphrates Post, Ahmad al-Ramadan, explained to Asharq Al-Awsat that “two US helicopters conducted the rapid airdrop operation and clashed with the organization’s (ISIS) members, killing eight of them.”

U.S.-led coalition trains police for Raqqa once Islamic State is driven out

Dozens of young men gathered Tuesday in a school yard in northern Syria to take the oath at a police graduation ceremony after a week’s training supervised by the U.S.-led coalition.

They were the first batch of policemen to be trained by the coalition to maintain law and order in Raqqa, as a Kurdish-Arab alliance battles to expel the Islamic State group from the rest of the northern province.

Police officers disappeared from Raqqa after the province was taken over by rebels then IS after the Syrian conflict broke out in 2011.

Dressed in green uniforms, the graduates stood to attention in the town of Ain Issa, a former IS stronghold around 50 km (30 miles) north of the city of Raqaq, the jihadis’ de facto Syrian capital.

While Americans endlessly battle each other over seemingly important choices like Clinton and Trump or Democrats and Republicans, it is clear that the majority of the population has little understanding of how the U.S. government operates. Yet, for those who pay the price for the apathy and confusion of the general population of the West, it often becomes stunningly obvious that neither presidents nor political parties in America represent any discernible difference in the ongoing agenda of the Deep State and the rest of the oligarchical apparatus. Indeed, that agenda always marches forward regardless of who is president or which political party is in control.

US AIRSTRIKES IN SYRIA NOW KILLING MORE CIVILIANS THAN ASSAD’S AIR FORCE

With a mosque’s minaret in the foreground, a United States Air Force cargo plane takes off from the Incirlik Air Base in southern Turkey, where coalition forces launch attacks inside of Syria, July 30, 2015.

The number of civilians killed in air strikes by the US-led coalition in Syria over the past month was the highest monthly toll since it began its campaign against the Islamic State (IS) group in 2014, a monitoring organization said on Tuesday.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that at least 225 civilians including 44 children and 36 women had been killed in the month between 23 April and 23 May.

At least 122 IS militants and fighters loyal to the Syrian government were also killed, the Observatory said.

“The past month of operations is the highest civilian toll since the coalition began bombing Syria,” Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman told the AFP news agency.

“There has been a very big escalation.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Since this is coming from a one-man band ( the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, whose owner hasn't been in Syria for the last 13 years), I suspect that these numbers are quite conservative, compared with the real carnage the US-based Coalition has created in Syria.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – MAY 23, 2017: SYRIAN ARMY EXPELS US-BACKED MILITANTS FROM SYRIAN DESERT

US-backed militant groups, often referred to as the Free Syrian Army (FSA), have declared the start of a counter-offensive against “the regime and its foreign militias” in the area east of Suweida in southeastern Syria. The counter-offensive was dubbed operation “Desert Volcano”. Its declared goal is to expel government forces from the Syrian desert.

Since last weekend, the Syrian Army and its allies have made notable gains east of Suweida and along the Damascus-Baghdad highway. These advances posed a direct threat to the US-led plan aimed at building a buffer zone controlled by US-backed factions between Syria and Iraq. Now, the US-led forces are going to use force against the Syrian military in order to achieve their strategic goal.

The Shi’ite fighters from Iraq have controversially been bombed by the US Air Force on two separate occasions; this is explained by their blitz offensive targeted an area controlled by US vetted rebels.

Syrian Prison Executions – Anatomy of a Smear Campaign

The smear campaign against Syria in general – and Bashar al-Assad personally – has been ongoing for years. We’ve seen nothing but horror stories come out of Syria. Allegations of chemical weapons, barrel bombing of civilians, terrible crimes against humanity. We’re seldom presented with evidence, yet the headlines stick in our minds. It’s not what’s true, it’s what people believe, and headlines are great indoctrination tools. Who cares about proof anymore? If the government says it true, it must be true.

Trump Puts US on Sunni Muslim Side of Bitter Sectarian War with Shias

The most important aspect of Mr Trump’s two-day visit to Saudi Arabia is that it took place at all. He chose to go first to the world’s most thorough-going autocracy where his speech will be lauded by the state-controlled media.

Almost all of the 55 Muslim rulers and leaders in the vast hall in Riyadh will have breathed a little easier on hearing Mr Trump’s repeated call “to drive out terrorism”, since they have always described anybody who opposes their authority as “terrorists”.

This will be a green-light to people like Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi to go on imprisoning and torturing Muslim Brotherhood members. American pressure on the ruling Sunni minority in Bahrain to stop persecuting the Shia majority was always tame, but Mr Trump’s praise for the island’s rulers may make the situation even worse.

Mattis: Escalation of ISIS War Doesn’t Threaten Civilians

Speaking at the Pentagon, Defense Secretary James Mattis talked up the continued escalation of the ISIS war worldwide, vowing the “annihilate” thousands of ISIS fighters in the Middle East to ensure that they are never able to return to their countries of origin.

At the same time, Mattis downplayed the risk the continued escalation of the war posed to civilians, despite the soaring number of civilian deaths in recent months coinciding with previous escalations, saying that the US would continue its “extraordinary efforts” to keep the civilian death toll low.

In practice, that likely means that the Pentagon will continue to go to almost impossible lengths to publish official death tolls that are far, far lower than the actual figures, Independent groups like Air Wars regularly document civilian deaths from US airstrikes at least 10 times higher than what the Pentagon puts on their official list.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A quick question for Sec Def Mattis; sir, do you believe that any thinking American is believing this utter and complete codswallop for a second?!?

Because, sir, if you do, you are truly, beyond-help delusional.

Thinking Americans understand that the US military presence in Syria is about engineering regime change; and in Iraq, it is about insuring that its leadership is Western-centric; that the oil goes only to countries the US approves of, and that the oil is only sold in American dollars.

Trump & 55 Muslim-majority states sign pact pledging 34,000 troops to fight ISIS in Iraq & Syria

The US and Middle Eastern countries have backed a new pact that promises to provide extra troops for defeating Islamic State, singles out Iran for destabilizing the region, and says that Riyadh is to become the heart of the region’s counter-terrorism operations.

Described as the Riyadh Declaration, the document was signed following US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Saudi capital for a summit that brought in Islamic representatives from 55 countries, and vowed “to combat terrorism in all its forms, address its intellectual roots, dry up its sources of funding and to take all necessary measures to prevent and combat terrorist crimes in close cooperation among their states.”

The exact membership of what the communique called the Middle East Strategic Alliance will be decided next year, but putative members have committed to assembling “a reserve force of 34,000 troops to support operations against terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria when needed.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short translation of the "Riyadh Declaration"; increased war against Syria, by which none of these countries have been invited to assist it in getting rid of jihadists, leading to regime change in Damascus, and ultimately war against Iran.

And the big question I have here, is if things escalate in Syria, and if there is ultimately a war against Iran, what will Russia do, in light of its efforts to defend the Al-Assad government, and has consistently stated that should Iran be attacked militarily, it will come to Iran's aid?!?

I can tell you very clearly, what Putin, Medvedev, and the Russian Duma will NOT do, as a response to such provocations; join hands and sing "Kumbyah"!!

US STRIKE ON SYRIAN FORCES: THE SCRAMBLE FOR POST-ISLAMIC STATE SYRIA

The tactical scope of the attack was relatively limited, but strategically, the stakes particularly along Syria's territorial boundaries have been raised significantly.

Regarding the attack, US geopolitical analysts appear unanimous regarding the rhyme and reason behind it.

Foreign Policy magazine in a recent article claimed that the strike "showed American commanders are willing to use force to maintain de facto safe zones in the country’s east." The article also attempts to claim these "safe zones" are being used to stand up forces to fight the Islamic State.

In reality, the Islamic State was a creation of the US and its regional allies and meant specifically to "isolate the Syrian regime," according to a 2012 US Defense Intelligence Agency report.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question reverberating in my head, is how long before US and Russian forces actually start to engage, because their objectives in Syria are polar opposites?!?

The US wants "regime change" in Damascus, to make it easier to ultimately invade Iran, but Russia wants to defend and support the government of Bashar al-Assad; these two objectives are completely mutually exclusive.

It is not, at this point, a question of if this is going to happen; only, when it is going to happen.

SPECIAL: Jared Kushner Working for Israel to Enable Saudi Arabian Nuclear Attack Against Iran UPDATE 2: Gulf NATO to Wage War on Iran & Syria

ROBERT STEELE: I have learned from a person I trust that Jared Kushner is being used by Israel to rapidly enable Saudi Arabian nuclear attack capability against Iran. In his recent call to the Lockheed CEO asking for a 12% discount (it should have been 50%) on Lockheed’s missile defense system, Kushner was overheard discussing the arming of the Saudis with nuclear missiles with what sounded like an Israeli intelligence officer. See the Updates. Donald Trump is becoming impeachable by We the People.

HERE’S WHY SAUDI ARABIA AND ISRAEL ARE ALLIES IN ALL BUT NAME

Those who claim that Israel is opposed to Donald Trump’s now openly warm relations with Saudi Arabia are missing the actual point. On the surface, many assume that Israel and Saudi Arabia have poor relations. Neither country has diplomatic relations with one another, one is a self-styled Jewish state while the other is a Wahhabi Sunni monarchy.

But they both have the same regional goals, they both have the same enemies and both are intellectual anachronisms in a 20th century that has seen the fall of multiple monarchies, the end of traditional European colonialism and the fall of segregated regimes in Africa (Apartheid South Africa and UDI Rhodesia for example).

Both countries also seek to destroy Iran. Iran unlike Saudi Arabia and Israel, practices an ethical foreign policy. Far from wanting to export its Islamic Revolution, Iran has been a staunch ally to secular Syria and has been at the forefront of the fight against Salafist terrorism like ISIS and al-Qaeda.

TALKING TACTICS, LACKING STRATEGY - THE GENERALS ON SYRIA AND IRAQ

On Friday Secretary of Defense [General ret.] Mattis, General Dunford and Special Envoy McGurk on the Campaign to Defeat ISIS held a press briefing. A transcript is available.

My first thought after reading its was: "These people live in a different world. They have no idea how the real word works on the ground. What real people think, say, and are likely to do." There was no strategic thought visible. Presented were only some misguided tactical ideas.

One purpose of the briefing was obviously to souse the Saudis in preparation of Trumps weapons sales campaign there. There was no mention at all of any (Saudi financed) Jihadis in Syria or elsewhere besides ISIS. Questions about Kurdish or Iraqi paramilitary groups were answered with trash talk about Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One might think think, with all the blood and money already spent, there would be some grand, strategic plan the US military has come up with to counter the growth of ISIS in Iraq and Syria (where the US government has not been invited, thank you very much); unfortunately, there appear to be snippets of conflicting ideas about what should be done; what can, reasonably be done; and a general unwillingness to confess that ISIS is very much a Frankenstein-like creature created by elements of the US government.

In Afghanistan, Civilian Casualties Happen by Design, Not by Accident

Even the waves of so-called “terrorists attacks” in Germany, Holland and France last year underscores that these are the conspiracy theories aimed at continuous war in Syria and elsewhere. Many Europeans would still keep faith with the war-mongers’ cooked-up stories and back the US and NATO’s intervention in Syria. The sole purpose of all these planned attacks was and is to demonize the Islamic State or Al-Qaeda and draw a whole support to wage a filthy war against “the nations” where these terrorists operate.

Unrest in Afghanistan is a recipe for more US weapons’ sales to war-exposed countries, viable drug trafficking that generates a profit far beyond measure, unearthing of underground resources worth of several trillion dollars, restraining of the regional military and economic rival powers and so others.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The sickening rhythm of "invade; regime change; occupy; expropriate resources; and insure those resources are only sold in US dollars" continues, unabated.

And in his weekend trip to Saudi Arabia, with that ginormous US arms deal he greenlit, it appears that President Trump is setting up that country for a proxy war against Iran, to regime change that country as well.

But there is one minor problem; in both Syria, and Iran, Russia's leadership has pledged both countries to resist any attempt at regime change; and the Russian military is very formidable, at this point in its history.

War with Russia over Syria and Iran?!?

That's precisely where the US government and military are headed right now, and unless there are some American leaders willing to bring some semblance of sanity back to DC, it is not a question of if, but when, such wars will happen.

Coalition Attack on Syria Might Signal US' Interest in Country's Oil Resources © Flickr/ Jose Javier Marti

On May 18, the US-led coalition struck pro-Assad fighters near the town of al-Tanf in the vicinity of an established safe zone protected by Russia. Russian Senator Igor Morozov commented to Sputnik on the attack, saying that it might be a signal to Damascus that the US is interested in Syrian oil deposits.

Is Uncle Sam Funding the Islamic State? Where Does ISIS Get All Those Tanks, Weapons And Shiny New Toyota Trucks?

Toyota trucks aren’t all ISIS has managed to buy, capture or scavenge from us. In June, CNBC reported that so far we’ve accidentally furnished the Islamic State with at least $219.7 million worth of weapons, vehicles and other military supplies and gear — and that’s just the stuff we know about.

Based on various reports, CNBC came up with the following laundry list of supplies the U.S. has so kindly provided to ISIS so far.

2,300 Humvee armored vehicles at $70,000 each: $16 million
40 M1A1 Abram tanks at $4.3 million each: $172 million
52 M198 Howitzer mobile gun systems at $527,337 each: $2.7 million
74,000 Army machine guns at $4,000 each: $29 million
TOTAL: $219.7 MILLION in military weapons, vehicles, and other supplies and gear for ISIS.

US Aggression against Syria and the Principles of a “Just War”. “Make America a Global Empire, Again!”

t is already known that all of these terrorists in Syria, including primarily the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/DAESH), are armed and sponsored by the US (and Israel) and their regional quisling states (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Kuwait, Qatar…).

The terrorists’ original warfare of partisan strategy [i], like by the Muslim Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army in 1995?1999, was based only on direct provoking of the legal and legitimate Syrian state security forces to respond by attacking the terrorists’ posts. Later, well armed and equipped terrorists occupied immense portion of Syria and establishing full scale of ideological and religious terror against the civilians that simply forced a regular Syrian security forces to launch large scale military actions in order to stop the jihadist terror and liberate the country from the criminals but as it is expected with unavoidable number of civilian casualties.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't know what the Vegas odds of a direct military confrontation between the US and Russia in Syria might be at this point, but I would suggest that this possibility is escalating exponentially, with further US military attacks against Syria's sovereignty increasing consistently.

Iran Charges Russia With Selling Out its Air Defense Secrets to Israel

An Iranian government official claimed earlier this week that its Russian-made air defenses were compromised by Moscow, leaving Iran and its allies defenseless against Israeli airstrikes. An engineer with Tehran's Ministry of Defense alleged that codes forcing anti-aircraft missiles to treat hostile Israeli fighters as friendly were sold to Tel Aviv, effectively neutralizing Syria and Iran's S-300 surface-to-air missile systems.

An Iranian official, described by the Jerusalem Post as a senior member of Iran's Defense Ministry, told the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida that Russia had sold "codes" to Israel that identified Israeli aircraft as friendly. The codes were used by Israel to prevent its aircraft from being targeted. Israel has flown dozens of air raids over Syria, and despite advanced air defenses, only the latest raid, flown last Friday, involved an actual missile launch.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I rather doubt this was an official Russian "sale" as opposed to the codes being stolen. But now we know why those Israeli planes were not shot at by the S-300s!

Pentagon plans to 'annihilate' IS fighters

President Donald Trump has instructed the Pentagon to "annihilate" the Islamic State group in Syria in a bid to prevent escaped foreign fighters from returning home, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Friday.

The move to encircle then kill as many jihadists in place as possible -- rather than letting them exit a city and targeting them as they flee -- reflects an increased urgency to stop battle-hardened jihadists bringing their military expertise and ideology back to European capitals and other areas.

The president has "directed a tactical shift from shoving ISIS out of safe locations in an attrition fight to surrounding the enemy in their strongholds so we can annihilate ISIS," Mattis said, using an acronym for IS.

"The intent is to prevent the return home of escaped foreign fighters."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Makes one wonder just how soon the corporate presstitutes will resort to the concept of "body counts" to both justify the US presence in Syria (where, unlike Russia, the US government has not been invited to deal with the Jihadists), and make it appear that the US is "winning", just as happened with the war in Vietnam.

US Coalition Attacks Syrian Forces – Helping ISIS in the Process

On Thursday, the US-led coalition announced it had launched an air strike against “pro-Assad forces” inside Syria killing several government-aligned militia soldiers and destroying numerous military vehicles near the al-Tanf region where the borders of Syria, Iraq and Jordan meet. The US coalition claim that Syrian forces inside of Syria posed a threat to US and NATO troops and the ‘rebels’ they are training and arming on the Jordanian side of that border region.

The US-led attack comes as UN officials and diplomats are meeting in Geneva to discuss a solution to Syria’s six year war. According to one Syrian official, the attack was a “flagrant aggression launched by the international coalition exposes the falsity of its allegation about fighting terrorism and undoubtedly demonstrates the reality of the Zionist-American project in the region.”

Israeli Minister Hints At Coming War In Syria And Iran: “The Time Has Come To Assassinate Assad”

The Syrian situation is one that has been both fostered and created in part by the United States. ISIS is a creation of the American State Department under Obama. The U.S. wanted to take northwestern Syria to enable a natural gas pipeline to be run from Qatar into Europe. This would have accomplished several things. The move would have taken the monopoly away from Russian energy giant Gazprom by supplying gas to Europe via Qatar.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As always, according to the politicians in Tel Aviv, it must be American blood and American money which must be sacrificed to achieve Israel's geopolitical goals in the Middle East, even if those goals do not serve US self-interests, whatsoever.

Video: The Collapse of ISIS, Competition for Syrian-Iraqi Border

The SAA has repelled several fierce ISIS attacks in the city of Deir Ezzor. According to the Syrian Defense Ministry, 28 terrorists were killed and 30 others were wounded during the clashes. The SAA also managed to destroy a tank, a BMP-1 vehicle, and 2 technicals armed with 23mm guns.

As ISIS is collapsing in Syria and Iraq, sides involved in the conflicts have increased their efforts in the area of the Syrian-Iraqi border. Western-backed militant groups, supported by the US-led coalition’s special forces and airpower, increased their activity in southern Syria.

US-led forces are pretending to control the whole Syrian-Iraqi border area south of the Euphrates. However, while al-Bukamal remains under the ISIS rule, this is not possible.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What those in the bowels of power in the Unhinged, surveilled States of America to see happen is to grab the oil, make sure it is only sold in US oil, and further balkanise the Middle East.

U.S. ATTACKS SYRIAN GOVERNMENT FORCES - IT NOW HAS TO MAKE ITS CHOICE

Together with its many subordinate NATO and Gulf allies the U.S. has the military and economic power to destroy the Syrian military. It can eliminate the Syrian government under President Assad and occupy the whole country. That would be a large war which would probably escalate into a global fight against Russia, Iran and other countries. It would necessitate a several decades long follow-up occupation for "nation building" while constantly fighting against a large al-Qaeda aligned Takfiri insurgency in Syria and all its neighboring countries (especially in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey where U.S. friendly governments would fall). The war would cost several trillion U.S. dollars, a large number of casualties and cause decades long chaos in a geo-politically sensitive region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My sense here is that the Deep American State will unwisely chose a major war, which will then spill over into Iran, and escalate with Russia.

The US government should have better sense than to believe its own narrative, regarding establishing an independent Kurdistan out of bits and pieces of Iraq and Syria; unfortunately, it does not.

It may not be a war the US military can win, because right now, it doesn't have the weaponry; the troop strength; the manufacturing, or the money to insure a positive outcome to a war against Russia.

Newly declassified U.S. intelligence documents have revealed that the United States and some of its allies had both foreseen and facilitated the rise of Islamic State in Syria as a counterweight to President Bashar al-Assad’s government. Government watchdog group Judicial Watch published over 100 pages of formerly-classified documents from the U.S. Department of Defence and the State Department obtained through a federal lawsuit.

US ATTACK ON SYRIAN FORCES: ASSERTING "SAFE ZONES"

US warplanes struck a Syrian military convoy within Syrian territory, after claiming the forces came too close to US military positions.

In legal terms, it was both an act of war and criminal. The US military is currently occupying Syrian territory without invitation by the Syrian government and without any form of mandate from the United Nations.

In geostrategic terms, the United States is attempting to assert itself and its geopolitical strategy of establishing and subsequently expanding "safe zones" inside Syrian territory in a bid to topple the Syrian government, then divide and destroy the Syrian state.

Foreign Policy, a clearinghouse for corporate-financier funded think tank policymakers, in an article titled, "US Bombs Syria Regime for the First Time," would admit:

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US has just, informally, through this bombing, declared an act of war against the Syrian government, and its people.

US IS ONCE AGAIN THE AIRFORCE OF ISIS, STRIKING SYRIAN FORCES IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY

Syria and its Russian ally have condemned a deadly US-led coalition air raid against pro-Syrian government forces in a desert area near the country's border with Jordan and Iraq.
Coalition fighter jets on Thursday struck a convoy of militiamen advancing inside a protected "deconfliction zone" north-west of the southern town of al-Tanf, the military alliance said in a statement.

The US, which is leading an air campaign in Syria targeting groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS), said the convoy's advance had posed a threat to US and US-backed Syrian rebel forces in the area.

"This brazen attack by the so-called international coalition exposes the falseness of its claims to be fighting terrorism," a Syrian military source told state media on Friday, confirming that the bombing had killed "a number of people" and caused material damage.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bombing a sovereign nation, which has done nothing to this country, except to want to continue to exist under its current leadership, is a war crime.

Both Russia and Syria have every right to be condemning this act, which is part of a concerted, multi-pronged US/Israeli desire to see "regime change" in Damascus.

I don't know what odds Vegas bookies are giving the possibility of US/Russian ground conflict here, but to me, it looks like the probabilities of such a conflict are growing exponentially.

A war against Russia right now over Syria would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could do right now.

Unfortunately, this being stated, however, that is utterly no guarantee that the US government won't do just that.

And right at this moment, in its history, the US military does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome from a conventional war against Russia.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – MAY 19, 2017: US-LED FORCES FIGHTS WITH SYRIAN ARMY FOR IRAQI BORDER

Warplanes operating under the US-led coalition carried out airstrikes against a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) convoy advancing along the Al-Tanf-Damascus-Baghdad international road. The airstrikes targeted Syrian forces in Al-Shuhaimi area, 50 km from the town of Al-Tanf located at the Syrian-Iraqi border.

The airstrikes destroyed two battle tanks, and damaged a Shilka vehicle, several pickups and trucks. Six SAA fighters lost their life and 3 were injured.

The US-led coalition said that the airstrikes were “warning shots” against Shiite militias. However, Shiite militias operation at the Al-Tanf road don’t have tanks or Shilka vehicles and there were many pictures and videos showing the presence of elements of the SAA in the area.

The US airstrikes on government forces are a clear signal that Washington are seeking prevent the Syrian government from taking control over the border and to build a buffer zone between Syria and Iraq that could establish an alliance in the near future.

Mattis: We'll defend our troops

The United States is not deepening its role in Syria's civil war but will act defensively when needed, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Thursday, as quoted by Reuters.

His comments came following U.S. air strikes against advancing militia backed by Syria's government.

"No. We are not increasing our role in the Syrian civil war. But we will defend our troops. And that is a coalition element made up of more than just U.S. troops, and so we will defend ourselves (if) people take aggressive steps against us," Mattis said, when asked about the strikes.

Earlier on Thursday, U.S.-led warplanes hit a pro-regime convoy in Syria that ignored warning shots.

U.S.-led aircraft struck the convoy as it headed toward a remote coalition garrison near the border with Jordan, said a U.S. defense official who was quoted by AFP.

US Syria strike 'caused civilian deaths'

A military source on the Syrian government side says a US air strike against a Damascus-backed militia hit "one of our military points" and killed several people.

The air strike late on Thursday also caused material damage, the source said, adding that this hampered efforts by the Syrian army and its allies to fight Islamic State.

The US military carried out the strike on the militia as they headed towards the al-Tanf military base in southern Syria - near the Syria-Iraq-Jordan border - used by US and US-backed rebel forces.

US officials said the strike was purely a defensive measure.

Free Syrian Army suspends participation in Geneva talks

The Free Syrian Army has suspended its participation in the Syrian reconciliation talks in Geneva as a member of the High Negotiations Committee, the group said in a statement. According to the statement, the reason behind the group's suspension in the Geneva negotiations is "the lack of clarity regarding the strategic vision of the negotiation process." The Free Syrian Army is the biggest armed opposition group that had earlier supported the High Negotiations Committee (HNC). Earlier on Thursday, HNC leader Nasr Hariri accused the Syrian government of violating the ceasefire agreement. Throughout the entire round of the talks in Geneva, devoted mainly to discussions on setting a consultative mechanism to deal with constitutional issues, the HNC met with representatives of local councils in Idlib, Homa and Damascus neighborhoods where opposition claims fighting still continues. The Geneva talks will end on May 19.

US: Syria Restoring Its Territory Will 'Not Be Accepted'

As we reported last week the Syrian army is making progress in the southern desert. It is edging eastwards towards the Iraqi border and towards joint US-rebel positions at al-Tanf border crossing.

We asked what happens when these two forces come within shooting distance of each other.

The question is all the more acute now as it has become apparent the US believes Syria requires US permission to restore its territory. As The Telegraph reports:

The US has sent a clear message that any government advance towards their base will not be accepted. However, it is unclear how the special forces will react to any serious provocation.

You may have thought it would be the US which required government permission to set itself up in al-Tanf, but apparently it's the other way around. It must be that al-Tanf is actually in Arizona or New Mexico.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Invading and bombing a sovereign country, which has done absolutely nothing against the US, as has been the case in Syria, where there is utterly no declaration of war, constitutes a war crime; I wish someone could explain that to President Trump.

But as I indicated in an article I posted yesterday, President "Moriarty" Trump believes war is great for the US economy, as he is on the cusp of his first visit as President to Saudi Arabia to sign new weapons deals with the Saudi government, which will be used to further the genocide in Yemen, as well as ultimately bring about a shooting war between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia characterises Iran as its "existential threat" in the region.

But the Saudis (and the American military) had better be aware that should Iran be attacked, both political and civilian leaders in Russia have vowed to come to Iran's aid.

War against Russia, in light of the fact that the US military doesn't have the troop strength, the weaponry, the money or the manufacturing to win a convention war against Russia?!?

I really don't think so!!

New Holocaust Claims Against Assad Are Based On Old, Debunked Propaganda

By Brandon Turbeville

As the propaganda coming from Washington regresses to an even more infantile level each year, so does the danger of that propaganda being used to justify a greater American military involvement in the Syrian crisis which Washington itself created. Always ready to invoke the memories of Adolf Hitler, Nazis, and the Holocaust at every opportunity, the U.S. State Department is now claiming that not only is Bashar al-Assad controlling massive prisons where mostly innocent civilians are starved and tortured, but that he is operating crematoriums where the bodies of victims are destroyed, thus cheating the moral West out of having any actual evidence of Assad’s “crimes against humanity.”

This new round of propaganda is based upon the debunked Amnesty International report released in February, 2017, entitled “Human Slaughterhouse: Mass Hangings And Extermination At Sednaya Prison, Syria.”...

Shades of 1956 Suez Disaster and the Greater Israel Project: Israel Schemes to Annex The Occupied Territories with US Support

The US Republican President will have the use of billions of dollars in casino funds plus the power of the AIPAC and CFI lobbies in Washington and in Westminster, respectively – both being key players in an international movement to legalise the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.

Upon completion of the land grab, the Netanyahu government apparently intends to carry out a unilateral annexation of the Occupied Territories whilst contemporaneously expelling the 5 million indigenous Palestinians in a forced transfer from their ancestral lands to new refugee camps in adjoining states of Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How in the world does Tel Aviv expect to execute this policy?!?

So Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, a word, please; have the countries to which you wish to expel all Palestinians, which include Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Syria, assented to this hair-brained scheme of yours?!?

My suspicion is, absolutely not; their refugee camps are already overflowing, courtesy of the wars in Iraq; Afghanistan; Syria; and and their ability to take in any more refugees is completely nil.

So how are you going to "relocate" these Palestinians from their homes, arrest them, and drop them over the borders of these countries with a parachute, or just herd them up like animals, and release them at the fuzziest areas of the borders of these countries, and tell those countries' leadership, "These people are your problem now!!?!?"

Or is the real agenda here a very Hitlerian, "Final Solution", which would be to execute all Palestinians who refuse to leave?!?

Last 1,000 rebels leave Damascus district under evacuation deal

More than 1,000 insurgents and their families left an opposition-held district of Damascus on Monday, completing an agreement between the Syrian government and rebels, Syrian state media outlets and a war monitoring group said.

Well over 3,000 people have left Qaboun in two days of evacuations, paving the way for the government to regain control of the area, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

They headed for areas still under opposition control east of the Syrian capital, or for the northwestern province of Idlib, also held by insurgents, it said.

Syria's military released a statement saying it had "returned peace and security to the Qaboun area" after killing many insurgents and blowing up tunnels they had used for supplies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I'd believe the Syrian military statement far above that of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights; however, IF, in fact, this is true, today is a very good day for the Syrian government and military.

By the end of this month, Defense Secretary James Mattis and National Security Advisor HR McMaster will deliver to President Trump their plans for military escalations in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. President Trump would be wise to rip the plans up and send his national security team back to the drawing board – or replace them.

Turkey’s War on Kurds Increasingly Crosses Borders: Erdogan's US Visit to Focus on His Anger at US Support for YPG

Officially, Turkey considers itself at war with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a war which has lasted decades. Increasingly, however, PKK is being very vaguely defined, and includes Kurdish groups in several countries which Turkey argues are all basically PKK.

Doing this has allowed Turkey to go after limited PKK forces who have crossed the border into Iraq or Syria, but as lines blur, it’s tough to argue that Turkey isn’t just at war with Kurds in general at this point, particularly in Syria, where the PKK is virtually non-existent, and Turkey is after the YPG claiming they are the same group.

It is this interest in warring with the YPG, and with Kurds as such, that will be a big focus of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his upcoming visit to the US, where he will express outrage at US military support provided to the YPG to fight against ISIS, arguing that amounts to backing a terrorist group.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem for Erdogan, is not so much the Kurds in Syria, as it is the US government's desire to carve out an independent Kurdistan in Syria, as a "buffer state" between Turkey and Syria.

CARVING OUT “KURDISTAN” IS THE US’ NEW END GAME IN SYRIA

I am watching the Faux feed as I type this, and Presidents Trump and Erdogan are making their joint statement. Turkish President Erdogan is NOT smiling.

President Trump has his work cut out for him, to convince Erdogan that a neighboring Kurdistan will be a "good thing", because it will balkanize bits of Syria, and that will help keep Turkey safe.

I have to wonder what the "quid pro quo" on this US-created independent Kurdistan will be, behind closed doors.

And apparently, no one has sent Syrian President Bashir Al Assad the memo that the establishment of such a country will gobble up hunks of the sovereign state of Syria.

REPORT: U.S., BRITISH FORCES ENTER SOUTHERN SYRIA ALONGSIDE TERRORISTS; IS A BIGGER BATTLE SHAPING UP?

Days after reports that Damascus was on high alert due to increased U.S. troop levels on the Jordanian border and an apparent preparation for an invasion from the south and southeast, the United States and Britain have indeed pushed into Syria from the very location earlier reports suggested would be used.

The reports were released first from the SMART News Agency, which writes that approximately 150 U.S. and British military personnel have entered Syria from Jordan.

SMART News Agency has provided video evidence of their claims. This video reportedly shows several military personnel in armed Humvees engaging in a firefight alongside terrorist forces, who were operating the cameras. Indeed, the familiar “Allahu Akbar” chant can be heard throughout the video.

Hamimah is around 90 km east of Palmyra, near the Deir ez-Zour countryside. Albukamal is also located nearby, a town of strategic importance to the U.S.

TERRORIST CONFESSES TO TAKING PART IN STAGED CHEMICAL WEAPONS ATTACKS IN SYRIA, WESTERN MEDIA SILENT

After the bombings, as more and more evidence came to light, it became so obvious that the Syrian government had nothing to do with the attacks that any further reference to Khan Sheykhoun should now conjure up memories of an American empire looking for any reason to launch attacks against Syria, so much so that it is ready to slaughter children under the guise of seeking revenge for the killing of children.

Now, however, there is little doubt left as to whether or not the Syrian government was involved in the attack since one of the West’s proxy terrorists recently confessed to taking part in the staging of the attack to be blamed on the Syrian government.

According to a report by Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA),

The United States government and the Western corporate media are doing everything they can to continue to prop up the disproven narrative that Bashar al-Assad launched a chemical attack against civilians in Khan Sheykhoun. After having their story debunked repeatedly, the corporate media keeps coming back for more, even despite having a terrorist confessing to participating in the false flag attack.

This time, the corporate media is claiming to have released “new” footage of the Khan Sheykhoun attack which reveals evidence that the Assad government was behind the attack...

Iraqi security forces (ISF) have continued putting pressure on ISIS terrorists in the western part of the Iraqi city of Mosul. Recently, ISF troops have recaptured the 17 Tamouz district, the Al-Aurabi district, and further advanced against ISIS in the Al-Rafaee and Old Mosul areas. Some 49 ISIS terrorists were killed and 4 SVBIEDs destroyed during the clashes. According to the Iraqi military, ISIS controls only 9% of the city of Mosul.

The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) have liberated a notable number of villages from ISIS terrorists in the area southwest of Mosul. PMU fighters took control of Khilo, Tal Qassab, Karkash, Sultan, Tal sheik, Kabar, and other vilalges near the town of Qayrawan.

Terrorist Confesses To Taking Part In Staged Chemical Weapons Attacks In Syria, Western Media Silent

By Brandon Turbeville

Before the dust settled on Khan Skeykhoun, the United States had used the alleged chemical attack that took place there as the justification for a launch of 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the al-Sha’aryat airbase in Syria. Even as the missiles were heading toward their target, it was clear that something was not right with the official U.S. government story regarding the incident. In fact, when considering all the evidence, it was clear that the Syrian military had nothing to do with the actual attack. Even more so, there were even questions regarding whether or not the attack actually took place. Now...

STATE DEPARTMENT: RENAMED AL-QAEDA NOT A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION - CAN RECEIVE CIA SUPPLIES

Max Abrams, a professor who works about terrorism, came up with this new definition of "terrorism":

Nonstate actors who use violence against civilians for a political goal and haven't been supported by the US.
The highlighted part is "new" to those who have not learned from history and the many occasions of U.S. support for (typically extremely right-wing) terrorist organizations like the "contras" in Nicaragua, OUN fascists in Ukraine or Jihadi Mujahedin in Afghanistan. It can indeed be argued that the U.S. created al-Qaeda as well as the Islamic State (ISIS).

But lets just be happy that people get again reminded of the issue.

Prof. Adams remark came after a report by the Canadian CBC which found that the U.S. has not designated al-Qaeda's recently renamed organization in Syria as a "foreign terrorist entity".

MAJOR BEXALERT!!! : Syrian regime using crematorium to 'cover up' mass murders, State Department says

This is pathetic. The snow is melting so the building is a crematorium! Gotcha!

The Syrian regime is using a site outside Damascus to cremate the bodies of thousands of prisoners it has abducted, jailed and murdered during the country’s long-running civil war, the U.S. State Department alleged Monday.

Acting Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs Stuart Jones showed surveillance photos that -- combined with intelligence assessments and other reports -- officials believe show Bashar Assad’s government is complicit in covering up evidence of mass killings at the Sednaya Prison. Located near Damascus, the prison previously has been called a "human slaughterhouse" by Amnesty International.

Jones also charged that the “atrocities” were carried out “with unconditional support” from Russia and Iran.

The U.S. conclusion is based in part on photos that show snow melting near the building believed to be the crematorium.

Will Trump Agree to the Pentagon’s Permanent War in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria?

The two top national security officials in the Trump administration – Secretary of Defense James Mattis and national security adviser HR McMaster – are trying to secure long-term US ground and air combat roles in the three long-running wars in the greater Middle East – Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

Proposals for each of the three countries are still being developed, and there is no consensus, even between Mattis and McMaster, on the details of the plans. They will be submitted to Trump separately, with the plan for Afghanistan coming sometime before a NATO summit in Brussels on 25 May.

But if this power play succeeds in one or more of the three, it could guarantee the extension of permanent US ground combat in the greater Middle East for many years to come – and would represent a culmination of the “generational war” first announced by the George W Bush administration.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact, President Trump signs off on these policies, look for a reinstitution of the draft in this country, sooner, rather than later, and a draft which includes both our young women, as well as our young men.

And yes, the word "permanent" applies, in all three countries, as it appears that the US military presence will never be leaving here.

The only "wild card" in the bunch is Syria, because of the both the Russian presence here, and their very clear determination that Damascus will not be regime changed.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – MAY 15, 2017: GOVT FORCES MAKE LARGE GAINS IN ALEPPO AND DAMASCUS

Pro-government forces, led by the Syrian Army Tiger Forces, have made significant progress against ISIS in the province of Aleppo. Last weekend, government troops liberated the Jirah Military Airbase after few days of clashes with ISIS terrorists. ISIS attempted to counter attack at the military airbase and near Jirah Saghir village but failed to achieve its goals. The Syrian Army reportedly lost a T-55 battle tank, a BMP-1 armoured vehicle and a technical armed with a 23mm gun in these clashes.

The military airbase was the last major ISIS stronghold on the way to the important ISIS-held town of Maskaneh that will likely become the next target of the government advance in the province of Aleppo. Advancing through Maskaneh, government troops would reach an area controlled by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Tabqah countryside in the province of Raqqah. This will also allow to secure a large chunk of the Ithriyah-Aleppo road.

CENTCOM BREAKS "FREE PASSAGE" DEAL - ITS ALLIES WILL HAVE TO BLEED FOR THIS

On Friday the U.S. "Inherent Resolve" command of its operations in Syria and Iraq released an statement that points to unnecessary intensified fighting about the city of Raqqa and elsewhere.

The Syrian Arab Coalition and their Syrian Democratic Force partners completed the liberation of the Tabqah Dam, as well as the city of Tabqah and its nearby airfield May 10.

The Kurdish forces obviously made a deal with the ISIS rearguard. They offered free passage (safe conduct) to the ISIS fighters if those would dismantled their demolition charges on the Tabqa dam and leave their heavy weapons behind. The ISIS group accepted and fulfilled its part of the deal. The dam was saved. The ISIS forces withdrew.

The Kurdish commander had made the right decision. Any fighting around, on or within the dam structure could have led to a catastrophic dam failure which would have killed ten-thousands (at least) further down the Euphrates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So what we have here is catch and release, make a deal, then kill later?!?

Turkish PM: US Promises Kurds Won’t Stay in Raqqa

Speaking to reporters today during an official visit to London, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says that the United States has assured Turkey that even though the Kurdish YPG is being used to invade ISIS’ capital city of Raqqa, they will not keep control of the city after the battle.

These assurances appear to have been made to try to placate Turkish outrage over US plans to arm the YPG with heavy weapons for the Raqqa battle, and for the US choosing to back the YPG in the offensive against ISIS in general, something Turkey has repeatedly condemned.

Kurdish officials have never said anything about conquering Raqqa for somebody else, and it would be unusual for the group to be willing to commit so heavy to the invasion of a city if they didn’t have designs on incorporating it into their self-declared autonomous region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why would the Kurds be fighting at all, if not for an independent Kurdistan?!?

The US government and military need to be very clear as to their ultimate intentions here; otherwise, they may well find Turkey leaving NATO, and leaving them with a vast hole in their garrisoning of the Middle East.

SYRIA - "THE REGIME WILL BE THERE" - U.S. CONCEDES RAQQA ... AND THE SYRIAN EAST?

A new Wall Street Journal piece, primarily about the ISIS held city of Raqqa on the Euphrates, casts doubt on long term U.S. plans for such an occupation. Its core quote:

US Fighter Pilots Set to Fly Israeli Skies in Joint Air Force Drills

The US Army has confirmed that Israeli and US pilots will be engaging joint drills this week at Uvda Air Force Base near the Israeli city of Eliat. Aircrews will be trained in a number of exercises at the base’s advance facilities while other squadrons train in the Negev Desert.

While the role of enemy aircraft will be played by the Israel Defense Forces' "Flying Dragon" or "Red" Squadron, based at Uvda, teams will operate “enemy” missile launchers and radars and infantry troops will be acting as terrorists, according to the Jerusalem Post. Haaretz reported that a number of F-15 fighters have already been sent over by the US; the "Flying Dragon" squad flies F-16 jets.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder here who the potential "targets" are supposed to be; but right now, were I a betting person, I would bet either Iran or Syria, or perhaps both.

But the problem here, stretched out on the Bosendorfer, and napping for the moment, is the 6,000 LB gorilla in the living room, and that is the presence of Russia in Syria, and Russia's oft-stated promise to assist Iran militarily, should a foreign government attempt to invade it.

War with Russia over Syria and/or Iran?!?

That those collectively in the bowels of power in both the Unhinged State of America, and Tel Aviv, should even be "thinking" in this direction is collective, hubristic madness.

President Assad Rules Out Making Concessions on Syria's Sovereignty

Syrian President Bashar Assad said Thursday he would not make concessions on sovereignty, independence and national interests of his country, in an interview with BELARUS’ ONT channel.

"All the things related to sovereignty, national interests, the constitution, and independence are not the prerogative of the president and he cannot make concessions regarding them. I make concessions on personal issues which are of no importance to the people, the crisis, and they are not required of me anyway," Assad said as translated and quoted by state SANA news agency.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well then so much for an independent Kurdistan, unless he is driven out of office, and Damascus is "regime changed"; but I can guarantee you, if the US and coalition forces try this, they will be be fighting Russia in Syria.

And the US military doesn't have the money; the manufacturing; the weaponry, or the troop strength to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia, and that is why this entire approach is dicey as heck.

U.S. New “Plan B” for Syria: Military Escalation

According to the Pentagon, it isn’t necessary to tarnish Syrian President, Bashar Assad, for the U.S.-led coalition’s large-scale invasion to Syria. It is enough to make ISIS cross the Jordanian border. Such a scenario was discussed by Assad at the end of April this year.

This time Washington decided to rely on the Free Syrian Army (FSA), that began an offensive against ISIS in Syria’s Daraa, located about 13 kilometers north of the border with Jordan, on May 9, 2017. Apparently, according to the coalition command, the FSA will force the Islamists to leave their positions and cross the Jordanian border.

In its turn, this could be an ideal pretext for the coalition’s immediate ‘defense’ of its ally. So, according to our sources, more than 400 units of US military equipment and more than 4,000 soldiers have already been deployed along the border between Syria and Jordan. This fact indicates the ongoing preparation for the operation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am getting a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach, that this "exercise" is simply a cover for a planned invasion of Syria, to be set up by the use of a false flag.

And if, in fact, the US military does this, how, please, does the Pentagon and White House believe Russia is going to react?!?

I can absolutely assure you; President Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, and Sergei Lavrov, will NOT be holding hands, and singing "Kumbyah", should such a situation develop.

Retired General: Jordan Won’t Support Ground Invasion of Syria

A new round of joint military exercises has fueled considerable speculation among Jordanians that their government may be about to participate in a surprise US invasion of Syria. The speculation was growing to the point Syria issued a statement yesterday warning them against doing so.

Those familiar with the situation say it’s likely an idle rumor, however, with retired Gen. Mousa al-Odwan, a former special forces commander, saying he doesn’t believe the Jordanian government would offer direct military support in the event of any ground invasion of Syria.

Jordanian political analysts appeared to agree with this assessment, saying their nation’s military is in no position to get into a protracted involvement in a ground war in Syria, and that doing so would have “dire consequences” for the nation’s military and its stability.

While Jordan isn’t on good terms with Syria, their official stance is that the Syrian Civil War should be resolved peacefully.

No, the “New” CNN Video of the Chemical Incident Does NOT Prove that the Syrian Government Did It

I agree that the footage is harrowing. However none of it is new and none of it proves that the Syrian government was the perpetrator of a nerve agent attack.

As such, this article merely falls into the category of propaganda.

The kindest alternative description of the article is that it might instead be yet another example of bad reporting that mixes ill-considered assumptions with facts that may or may not be relevant to its conclusions.

This kind of reporting could actually be encouraging such attacks.

If there was a false flag nerve agent attack, this tells the perpetrators that when they engage in the murder of children they can build a stronger false case against the Syrian government and thereby increase their chances of creating political pressure on the US Government to intervene militarily on their behalf.

Syria says up to 5,000 Chinese Uighurs fighting in militant groups

Up to 5,000 ethnic Uighurs from China’s violence-prone far western region of Xinjiang are fighting in various militant groups in Syria, the Syrian ambassador to China said on Monday, adding that Beijing should be extremely concerned about it. China is worried that Uighurs, a mostly Muslim people who speak a Turkic language, have gone to Syria and Iraq to fight for militants there, having travelled illegally via Southeast Asia and Turkey.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the killing of a Chinese hostage in 2015, highlighting China’s concern about Uighurs it says are fighting in the Middle East. Hundreds of people have been killed in Xinjiang in the past few years, most in unrest between Uighurs and ethnic majority Han Chinese. The government blames the unrest on militants who want a separate state called East Turkestan.

Arming the Kurds: Trump’s Syrian Gambit

President Trump’s decision to provide weapons to the Syrian Kurds, who are fighting Isis, potentially marks a crucial change in the political geography of the Middle East. In effect, the US is choosing to support its Kurdish ally in Syria, in defiance of Turkey, whose aim is to prevent the establishment of a quasi-independent Kurdish state there.

Mr Trump approved a plan on Monday to arm the Kurds directly, in order to enable the People’s Mobilisation Units (YPG) Kurdish militia and its Arab allies to assault and capture Raqqa, the de facto capital of Isis in Syria. The US will send heavy machine guns, anti-tank weapons, mortars, armoured cars and engineering equipment to bolster the attack.

This latest proposed peace deal is the latest product of the Astana Process chaired by three nations, Russia, Iran and Turkey, an effort designed to support the previous UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

This document is controversial to say the least, because it calls for the establishment of “islands of safety,” which are analogous to Washington’s previously called for ‘Safe Zones.’ These four zones include the northwestern province of Idlib, the Al-Rastan Plain just north of the city of Homs, the area of Eastern Ghouta near Damascus, and areas in the Daraa’a and Al Quneitra governorates of southern Syria.

Syria’s De-Escalation Zones Explained

By Brandon Turbeville

Understandably, many observers are wondering just what is taking place in Syria since the United States has long argued for “safe zones” and “no-fly zones” in Syria since very early on in the conflict. Now, “safe zones” are being established in Syria at the behest of Russia, with the cooperation of Iran and Syria. So what exactly is happening?

Will US Ignore Syria Ceasefire zones?

The United States may not abide by the Syrian ceasefire implemented Saturday morning if it conflicts with American operations against the Islamic State in the country, an official said Friday.

“The coalition will continue to target ISIS wherever they operate to ensure they have no sanctuary,” Maj. Adrian J.T. Rankine-Galloway, a Pentagon spokesman, said at a press briefing on Friday.

The United States was not a party to the talks which established the ceasefire, held in Astana, Kazakhstan on Thursday.

Trump Approves Plan To Directly Arm Kurds; Turkish Lira Tumbles

Update: Reuters confirms that the US arming of yet another ethnic group in the middle east is now a "go"

WHITE HOUSE APPROVES SUPPLYING WEAPONS TO YPG FIGHTERS IN SYRIA - U.S. OFFICIAL TELL REUTERS
WEAPONS TO HELP YPG FIGHTERS IN RAQQA OFFENSIVE, NO TIMELINE DISCLOSED FOR START OF SUPPLYING ARMS

Turkey's 'sultan for life' Erdogan will not be happy. NBC News is reporting that two US defense officials have confirmed President Trump has approved a plan to arm the Syrian Kurdish militia - an important U.S. ally in Syria in the fight against ISIS.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please; re-drawing the maps in the Middle East to your liking may well have consequences you and your team may not have considered, and may well not be of your liking.

Your pretext here is having the Kurds fighting ISIS/ISIL, but it is a completely false premise.

ISIL/ISIS was a deliberate creation by the US government to prevent the Syrian government from continuing, and supposedly create regime change in Damascus.

Michael Flynn: The Rise of the “Islamic State” (ISIL) Was “A Willful Decision” of the Obama White House: Former DIA Chief

The creating of an Independent Kurdistan, to be cobbled together from territory currently claimed, respectively, by Turkey and Syria, will cost a great deal, in blood and money, and neither country is willing to give the territory up for the creation of such a country.

Al-Assad will either have to be assassinated, or regime changed by a vote; and Turkey's Erdogan may well pull Turkey out of NATO, which would put the alliance at great strategic discomfort.

And lastly, Mr. President, Russia's Putin will not stand idly by when the US and Kurdish forces attempt to carve up sovereign Syrian territory; this arming of the Syrian Kurdish militia in Syria will be seen as a definite attempt at Syrian destabilisation, and tantamount to an act of war it.

Authenticity of ISIS video showing execution of ‘Russian agent’ denied by MoD

The terrorist group released the 12-minute-long video through its media outlet, Furat Media, on Tuesday May 9, which is celebrated in Russia as the day of victory over Nazi Germany. According to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors online jihadi activity, it shows a man dressed in a black jumpsuit kneeling in a desert while urging other Russian agents to surrender before being beheaded by a bearded man in combat fatigues. The video also shows footage of what it claims to be the aftermath of Russian bombing raids.

The authenticity of the video has not been verified, and the Russian Ministry of Defense has denied reports that one of its servicemen has been killed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If it is SITE, it is more than likely fake.

US Says We Fly Where We Want in Syria

Washington, Pentagon. The US has responded to Russia’s creation of “no fly zones” in Syria by indicating the US will fly “wherever it wants” and “whenever it pleases” according to Pentagon spokespersons.

The Coalition forces headed by the US will strike at the Islamic State anywhere in Syria, including in the security zones established by Russia, Turkey and Iran, In Russian news agency reports citing a Pentagon representative.

Earlier, Russia, Turkey and Iran signed a memorandum on the establishment of security zones in Syria. According to the memorandum, check points and observation centers will be established along the borders of these security zones. The zones exclude aircraft from hostile action.

When answering the question whether the Coalition will stop the flights over these security zones, the Pentagon official said that the Coalition will carry on with its operations as usual, with no regard for Russia’s plans to end air strikes in the region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, it sure as heck didn't take that long for Sec Def Mattis to come to his conclusions about flying through these security zones; which means that pilots flying through these regions risk getting shot down by Russian and Syrian ground forces or aircraft.

I am profoundly uncomfortable with the Pentagon making potential sacrificial lambs out of these pilots.

Is the US Preparing A Ground Invasion of Syria? Drones Spot Hundreds of US, Jordanian Armored Vehicles at Border

The US and Jordanian militaries may be prepping a massive invasion of Syria, intelligence reports gathered from surveillance drones suggest.

Damascus is reportedly on high alert after some 400 American and Jordanian military vehicles were located at a Jordanian military base near the Syrian desert border earlier today.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope that is not the case, because that will put US troops directly in confrontation with Russian and Syrian troops; that most probably means World War III for sure.

What I would like to hope - and pray - we are seeing , is simply the following:
Jordan, US launch Eager Lion military exercise: some 7,400 troops from 20 nations taking part in Eager Lion military drills, 'the largest and most complex to date'.

These exercises (if, in fact that is what they are) are scheduled to end 18 May.

Syria rejects international forces in safe zones

Syria on Monday dismissed the idea of foreign forces patrolling four so-called de-escalation zones that are to be established under a deal struck by Russia, Iran and Turkey, suggesting Damascus would agree only to Russian "military police" who are already on the ground.

Syria planned to abide by the agreement signed in Kazakhstan last week, Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem told reporters in the Syrian capital, but he cautioned it was "premature" to say whether the deal would succeed.

"There will be no presence by any international forces supervised by the United Nations," al-Moallem said. "The Russian guarantor has clarified that there will be military police and observation centers."

Though he did not specify who the military police would be, he appeared to be referring to Russian observers already in Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: it appears that the US government and the rebels it has been arming and training, will completely ignore the de-escalation zones.

Photo suggests advanced US weaponry in hands of Syrian Kurdish Forces

According to Military Times, the People’s Protection Unit (YPG) in Syria might possess sophisticated American combat equipment, weaponry the Pentagon says it does not provide to the Syrian Kurdish fighters.

A photo of a YPG commando suggests the Syrian forces’ gear now includes clothing, weapons, and enhancements once issued to US Marine Corps special operations personnel and used by the foreign commando units they train.

SYRIA: THE NEW GOVERNMENT PLANS FOR MOVING EAST

The de-escalation agreement for four fighting zones in Syria has come into effect. The battles between Syrian government forces (red) and the foreign supported "rebels" (yellow) has ebbed in the north, in Idleb and north Hama, in the south round Deraa, around the besieged "rebel" enclaves north of Homs and east of Damascus in east-Ghouta. That does not mean that those areas are peaceful or safe. In the north Turkey is scrimishing with U.S. supported Kurds (purple), in Deraa governate ISIS is infighting with other Jihadi "rebels" and in east-Ghouta various "rebel" groups are trying to eliminate each other.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF this can hold, it ultimately means victory for the Syria government, which is not the outcome those in the bowels of power in the Unhinged States of America want to see happen.

However, that being said, I wouldn't bet against an ultimately large contingent of American-backed rebels sticking a monkey wrench in the works on this soon.

al-Qaeda Leader Praises White Helmets As “Hidden Soldiers Of The Revolution”

By Brandon Turbeville

As hard as the Western corporate media works to employ propaganda techniques and tragic narratives with which to convince their respective populations that the terrorists funded by Western governments fight against the Syrian government are actually democracy-loving freedom fighters and selfless activists, more and more revelations come to light showing the true nature of heavily hyped groups like the White Helmets...

US reviews Syria de-escalation zones but warns ‘devil’s in the details’

US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said on Monday the United States would closely examine proposed de-escalation zones aimed at easing Syria’s civil war but warned “the devil’s in the details” and that much needed to be worked out.

The deal to create “de-escalation” zones in the major areas of conflict in western Syria took effect on Saturday.

The initiative was proposed by Russia, President Bashar al-Assad’s most powerful ally, with the support of Turkey, which backs the opposition. Iran, Assad’s other major ally, also backed it.

Political and armed opposition groups have rejected the proposal, saying Russia has been unwilling or unable to get Assad and his Iranian-backed militia allies to respect past ceasefires.
