Analyst: 2018 US Defense Budget Actually Over $1 Trillion

"The big takeaway is that again we have an increase that's beyond even what Trump asked for," said Kavanagh. "Spending for the military is essentially unlimited, and it demonstrates that Trump, despite what anybody thought, despite whatever he said, is part of the military-industrial complex. He said he was going to cut back on the wars — but he wants to increase military spending? This is going to create more and more tension, and everybody's behind it."

The US Military Is the Biggest "Big Government" Entitlement Program on the Planet

The US economy is caught in a trap. That trap is the Department of Defense: an increasingly sticky wicket that relies on an annual, trillion-dollar redistribution of government-collected wealth. In fact, it's the biggest "big government" program on the planet, easily beating out China's People's Liberation Army in both size and cost. It is not only the "nation's largest employer," with 2.867 million people currently on the payroll, but it also provides government benefits to 2 million retirees and their family members. And it actively picks private sector winners by targeting billions of dollars to an elite group of profit-seeking contractors.

The top five overall recipients collectively pulled in $109.5 billion in FY2016, and their cohorts consistently dominate the government's list of top 100 contractors. They reap this yearly largesse through a Rube-Goldberg-like system of influence peddlers, revolving doors and wasteful taxpayer-funded boondoggles. Finally, it is all justified by a deadly feedback loop of perpetual warfare that is predicated on a predictable supply of blowback.

But this belligerent cash machine doesn't just produce haphazard interventions and shady partnerships>>>

Federal Government Continues to Argue in Favor of Indefinitely Detaining an American Citizen

By Derrick Broze

On Monday a federal judge challenged the U.S. government to justify the continued imprisonment of an American citizen who has been denied access to a lawyer for over three months.

Washington D.C. - U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has expressed skepticism and frustration over the U.S. government's arguments for detaining an American citizen for three months. On Monday, at the latest hearing in the case of American Civil Liberties Union v. Mattis, the Justice Department argued that the court had no authority to rule on wartime detentions by U.S. military in an overseas conflict zone. Judge Chutkan seemed to lean in favor of the ACLU's argument that the man should have access to a lawyer, which he has been denied thus far...

A $21 Trillion Global Pandora’s Kitty?

By Mathew Maavak

As US federal debt approaches $21 trillion in a matter of months, an eye-popping equivalent amount seems to have gone cumulatively missing from government coffers over the past two decades.

The missing $21 trillion was tabulated by a team of researchers led by Dr. Mark Skidmore, Morris Chair of State and Local Government and Policy at Michigan State University. Skidmore’s team tallied up “undocumentable adjustments” – a euphemism for accounting prestidigitations – at the US Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) between 1998 and 2015. The study was verified by no less authority than Catherine Austin Fitts whose mainstream credentials included a stint in the George H.W. Bush presidential administration...

As North Korea Claims Missile Progress, Pentagon Plans ICBM Interceptor Test

As North Korea makes headway in developing a nuclear-armed missile capable of reaching the US mainland, the Pentagon is preparing to test its missile interceptor – which has a very inconsistent record.

First developed during the Cold War as part of former US President Ronald Reagan’s multi-billion dollar "Star Wars" effort to counter Soviet ballistic missiles, the US missile interceptor has only had nine successful tests among the 17 conducted since 1999.

This New Russian Sniper Rifle Is Redefining 'a Safe Distance'

Common Russian battle tactics, currently on display in Ukraine and elsewhere, uses three rows of snipers in battle. Although the first two rows present a challenge for even the best marksmen, it’s the back row—which can be around 2,000 yards away from a target—where Russia places its most elite. Now a U.S. Army report says that this last row of warriors have become even more deadly, thanks to a new weapon—the T-5000 Tochnost rifle.

Trump Continues Obama’s Wars Against Democracy

The reality, not talked about in public (since America isn’t a democracy), is that the United States Government propagandizes against foreign governments and then perpetrates coups and/or military invasions against them, in order to impose the U.S. empire’s dictatorial stooges, and then to crush whatever democracy had existed there. This U.S. fascism didn’t happen only in Iran in 1953, Guatemala in 1954, and Chile in 1973, but it happens also today, long after the ‘anti-communist’ excuse for it had ended in 1991.

In Pushing Saudis on Yemen Aid, US Warns About Losing Congressional Support

Despite repeatedly White House expressions of confidence that the Saudis are definitely going to start letting aid into Yemen at some point, the Saudis have shown no sign of doing so. Privately, the US has been a bit more blunt with them about the potential consequences.

The Trump Administration is trying to sell easing humanitarian aid as a way to placate the US Congress, where mounting concerns about the war crimes being committed in Yemen are seeing votes on US arms sales to the Saudi kingdom increasingly difficult to squeeze through.

The public statements from the White House are getting more frequent, with two statements on Wednesday and Friday of the past week, and officials saying over the weekend they expect more in the coming weeks, suggesting they don’t believe the Saudis will so easily allow food into Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In its two year enabling of the Saudi genocide in Yemen, the US government has been complicit in Saudi war crimes here; there is utterly no getting around this. Here are some very graphic images what the US government and military is assisting the Saudi government and military in "accomplishing" in Yemen:

Images:
Yemeni children being killed or maimed for life.

Images: Yemeni children starving to death, courtesyof the US and Saudi port blockade in Yemen.

Video demonstrating the use of DU by the Saudi Military

Images: severe birth defects in Yemeni infants

I will tell you right now, poisoning a child in the womb with depleted uranium weapons, is one of the most hideously cruel and insanely barbaric examples of outright, despicable child abuse I can imagine; and yet, obviously, the House of Saud; the Saudi Military, and the US military are perfectly comfortable doing this in Yemen.

I can understand the geopolitical potential for US/Saudi power projection by conquering Yemen; but gentlemen, please, at what moral cost to the soul of this nation will such a "victory" come, to the point where the US government is willingly "doubling down" in expanding on Saudi Arabia's war crimes in Yemen?!?

And for those you expect to fight, die, and get maimed for life (possibly from the US's use of DU in Yemen), I think they, and we, the American people, need one hell of an honest, completely factual explanation from you both as to whose “vital interests” are at stake here. Because from where I sit, it is NOT the "vital interests" of We the People, to be escalating the US military's involvement in this war, particularly when almost every expert on the issue has stated that the resolution to this issue has to be political, rather than military.

As US-Russia Tensions Rise, 1987 Nuke Treaty in Jeopardy

Over the weekend, Russia responded to the latest of what’s literally been some 4-5 years of US allegations over that test by again reiterating that they don’t see a violation, and that they are committed to the treaty.

But US-Russia tensions have gotten progressively worse through that 4-5 year span, which has turned “questions” about a possible technical violation into increasingly shrill US claims that Russia is “violating the treaty,” and threatening to withdraw from it.

In practice, the treaty is a relatively minor one among nuclear treaties, and one that officials likely believe they risk for the sake of picking more diplomatic fights with Russia. The risk, however, is that ditching this treaty will lead to the ditching of others, a partial concern given the recent US hostility toward anti-nuclear deals

US Pushes Diplomatic Isolation for North Korea, Despite Being ‘Open to Talks’

US officials, led by Ambassador Nikki Haley, have been making the rounds worldwide pushing for all nations to sever diplomatic ties with North Korea. This further undermines the US claims of being open to talks, but it’s also not clear what they expect to accomplish.

Since the US has no direct diplomatic ties with North Korea themselves, any diplomatic efforts require some intermediary. Yet if the US got its way, and everyone cuts off North Korea ties, there are no such intermediaries.

In practice, the US doesn’t expect this to be a successful push. Officials suggest that North Korea takes its international standing very seriously, and even a little bit of diplomatic harm would greatly embarrass them, however.

Plus it’s not like the US has a lot of “non-war” options left for things to do to North Korea. The nation doesn’t trade with much of anybody, except for China and Russia, and the US doesn’t have any real chance of cutting off either of those partners.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are very few diplomatic overtures the US can take, other than negotiating with them while they are still in the process of creating their nuclear deterrent.

And Trump, Tillerson, and Hailey have uniformly stated that will not happen, even if pigs discover they are aerodynamic.

So what are the odds of averting a war with North Korea, because the US government has boxed itself in by not allowing more room for diplomatic maneuvers?!?

Unfortunately, although I hope to hell I am wrong, not great, at this moment.

You have to understand: the Elites need a war, and soon, to attempt to "misdirect" the American public's anger away from the coming economic crash which will hit all sectors of the economy.

US claims full credit for any ‘meaningful’ anti-ISIS fight, denies hampering Russia’s Syria op

The Pentagon has claimed all the credit for wiping out the vast majority of terrorists in Syria. It also challenged the Russian defense ministry’s assertion that US fighter jets were actively interfering with Moscow's anti-terrorist operations in Syrian airspace.

On Wednesday, the Chief of the Russian General Staff declared “there’s no territory controlled by ISIS,” but only “some spots of resistance” left in Syria. A spokesman for the US-led Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) was quick to dismiss the Russian statement Saturday, claiming that IS (Islamic State, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists continue to operate in Deir ez-Zor province.

"Even the very assumption of the possibility of a major US war with Russia or China raises questions to those who have voiced the idea." What is behind this assumption: elementary cynicism, provocation, a misunderstanding of the substance of the subject, or something else? "- asked the deputy.

Zarif Warns Europe Not to Side with US against Iran’s Missile Program

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described the JCPOA as a “rare triumph” of diplomacy over confrontation, urging Europe, instead of siding with Washington against Iran’s missile capabilities, to help maintain the nuclear agreement.

“The nuclear deal is a rare triumph of diplomacy over confrontation. Undermining that would be a mistake,” Zarif wrote in an article published by The New York Times.

He added, “Europe should not pander to Washington’s determination to shift focus to yet another unnecessary crisis — whether it be Iran’s defensive missile program or our influence in the Middle East. This would repeat the very dynamics that preceded the nuclear deal.”

Florida rally cheers when Republican predicts Trump’s Jerusalem embassy decision may usher in Armageddon

A conservative politician at President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Pensacola, Florida suggested that the president’s controversial decision to move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem may usher in the biblical end times.

Republican state Senator Doug Broxson represents the Florida Panhandle in the legislature and gave an introductory speech welcoming President Trump to Florida.

“Now, I don’t know about you, but when I heard about Jerusalem — where the King of Kings [applause] where our soon coming King is coming back to Jerusalem, it is because President Trump declared Jerusalem to be capital of Israel,” Sen. Broxson predicted.

That was the only jaw-dropping line of the speech.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I had a Jean-Luc Picard double facepalm, at velocity, upon reading this.

He certainly played to his base, on this; unfortunately, what he, and his brother and sister Republicans, are most likely to reap from this is World War III, created, in large part by Israel's hubristic treatment of all their Muslim neighbors, and the Palestinians in the occupied East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.

Egyptian Muslim leader rejects meeting with U.S. Pence over Jerusalem: statement

One of Egypt’s top Muslim leaders, the Imam of Al Azhar mosque, rejected a meeting requested by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence in protest against a U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Al Azhar said in a statement on Friday.

Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb had rejected a request from the United States for Pence to meet him on Dec. 20 at Al Azhar saying President Donald Trump must reverse his decision on Jerusalem.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly don't blame the guy for rejecting a meeting with Pence. Pence may wind up with a trip to the Middle East, and other than Israeli leaders, may well have no one who wants to meet with him.

And the true repercussions against the US for President Trump's announcement about Jerusalem being Israel's capital have not even started.

US forces could potentially lose next war to Russia or China, warns sobering Rand report

U.S. defense modernization efforts are "failing to keep pace" when compared with its two big adversaries, and American forces are "poorly postured to meet key challenges in Europe and East Asia," according to a starkly worded new report from think-tank Rand.

As tensions with North Korea heighten, Rand's 190-page report, entitled "U.S. Military Capabilities and Forces for a Dangerous World," also discussed war scenarios with NATO-Russia involving the Baltic states. It also broke down a possible U.S.-China clash over Taiwan and gaps in existing U.S. capabilities.

With those factors in mind, the Rand report's authors said that the nation's armed forces are "insufficiently trained and ready" when looking at the active service components. That assessment comes despite the U.S. military presence in several regions of the world, and ongoing anti-terrorism missions and the war in Afghanistan, which is nearing its 20th year.

'Worst Military Fiasco': US Media Reveals Details of Deadly Niger Operation

BuzzFeed News reported Friday, citing sources, that the deaths of eight soldiers, including four US servicemen, could have been avoided if the US military mission in October at the village of Tongo Tongo near the Malian border had been better planned.

BuzzFeed News described this deadly incident as the "the worst military fiasco under the Trump administration — in which four US soldiers were killed alongside four Nigerians by Islamist militants — was the result of reckless behavior by US Special Forces."

Senior US officials privy to the matter told the US media outlet that the "fiasco" came after US soldiers with alleged inadequate reconnaissance support and a lack of ammunition rushed into a tightly-secured hotbed of high-ranking Daesh militants. Buzzfeed News additionally revealed that a number of further "negligent" actions during the mission provided Daesh gunmen with a deadly dominance in accidental combat.

Russian Su-35 chased away rogue US F-22 jet: MoD blasts US Air Force for hampering Syria op

A Russian interceptor has been scrambled to stop a rogue US fighter jet from actively interfering with an anti-terrorist operation, the Russian Defense Ministry said. It also accused the US of provoking close encounters with the Russian jets in Syria.

A US F-22 fighter was preventing two Russian Su-25 strike aircraft from bombing an Islamic State (IS, former ISIS) base to the west of the Euphrates November 23, according to the ministry. The ministry’s spokesman, Major General Igor Konashenkov described the episode as yet another example of US aircraft attempts to prevent Russian forces from carrying out strikes against Islamic State.

Tillerson: 'Status of J'lem not final'

United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Friday the "status of Jerusalem was not final" and that it will be some time before the US is able to move its embassy to from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, pursuant to President Donald Trump's speech earlier this week recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and announcing the planned embassy move.

Any final decision on the status of Jerusalem will depend on negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, Tillerson said, appearing to add nuance to President Trump's decision.

"With respect to the rest of Jerusalem the president ... did not indicate any final status for Jerusalem," Tillerson said, speaking at a news conference in Paris alongside French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This, Mr. Tillerson, is pure and utter grade-A bovine excrement; no words you can possibly utter can undo the lethal damage to any possibility of a two state solution your boss created with his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel last week.

Look for a regional, if not a world war, to evolve from his statement Wednesday, and it will be a war in which the US government is bound, lock-step, in defense of Israel.

44,000 US Troops on ‘Unknown’ Deployments Worldwide

When the Pentagon wants to mislead the public about where US troops are, generally speaking, they just lie. Yet sometimes the number of troops is just too big to claim as a rounding error, and questions start happening.

This week, the focus is on over 44,000 US military personnel deployed to “unknown,” which immediately raises red flags, because that’s not a place. Pentagon officials, however, say there is “no good way” to describe where they are.

Pentagon spokesman Col. Rob Manning, on the one hand, presented this as an “operational security” and “denying the enemy any advantage,” including, it seems providing any specifics on who “the enemy” at this point even is.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would strongly suggest that these troops are not "unknown" to the Pentagon; they are simply...undeclared.

THOUSANDS MARCH IN TEL AVIV TO PROTEST AGAINST NETANYAHU, CORRUPTION, AGAIN

Thousands of Israelis protested in Tel Aviv on Saturday for the second consecutive week against government corruption and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is under criminal investigation over allegations of abuse of office.

Police estimated the number of demonstrators at about 10,000 and they followed last Saturday’s demonstration, which was by far the largest of the recent weekly anti-corruption protests when an estimated 20,000 people participated.

The protests have been sparked by corruption allegations against Netanyahu, who denies any wrongdoing. The four-term leader is suspected of involvement in two cases.

The first involves receiving gifts from wealthy businessmen and the second involves negotiating a deal with a newspaper owner for better coverage in return for curbs on a rival daily.

If charged, he would come under heavy pressure to resign or could call an election to test whether he still had a mandate to govern.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Netanyahu does not care about his alleged "mandate to govern"; all he cares about is military power, and is obsessed with "legacy", whatever that means to him.

PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS: AMERICA IS "WALKING INTO ARMAGEDDON"

The orchestrated hostility toward Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea protects the $1,000 billion annual budget of the military/security complex by convincing the American public that the US is threatened by enemies. It also keeps alive Democratic Party hopes that Trump can be removed from office, and it has prevented President Trump from normalizing relations with Russia. I have emphasized for some time that Washington’s gratuitous and aggressive actions against Russia and the constant barrage of false accusations against Russia and its government have convinced Russia that Washington is planning a military attack. There is nothing more reckless and irresponsible than to convince a nuclear superpower that you are preparing an attack on them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A major war is coming, based on the reality that the Elites of this country, who despise true justice, and want the financial favors to come to "Just Us" (meaning them) have rigged the financial system to the point of near-collapse, so need a major war to attempt to distract most Americans from the coming financial debacle.

A magician would use the term "misdirection", but this industrial strenth codswallop, getting force-fed to the American people, courtesy of the corporate prestitutes and whorespondents, about the ongoing "threats" this country faces are, most generally, narratives to push the war agenda.

And if, in fact, the Occupied, Unhinged, Surveilled States of America lose this next war, the US government, and its lacadaisical attitude toward its weapons manufacturers, will be be squarely to blame.

The world has seen the sterling success of Russia's weaponry and tactics in Syria, and are beating a path to its door to acquire those weapons.

Unfortunately, the culture of US weapons manufacturers has been coddled by the US government and military, to the point where their CEOS think it is perfectly fine to deliver weapons that do not work; are obsolete by the time they are delivered and field tested; and are horrifically overpriced.

This has to change, and immediately, before the US ever regains its tactical advantage with its weaponry again; unfortunately, that is not going to happen before the next major regional, or world war, happens, and our military are, once more, going to be left in the lurch because of what has become "acceptible and standard" practice by the US govenment and military.

Both phone calls took place after the American election. Neither had anything to do with possible collusion regarding the election.

State Department warns Americans they are in danger from terror attacks WORLDWIDE following Trump's Jerusalem decision

The State Department issued a new 'Worldwide Caution' to Americans traveling overseas on Wednesday, after President Donald Trump announced the U.S. has officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The update did not include specific warnings about Israel, the West Bank and Gaza; that region's travel advisory dates back to April.

But the State Department did advise Americans to avoid Jerusalem's Old City and the West Bank on Tuesday, anticipating strong reactions to Trump's speech once the subject matter became public.

The global warning advised American citizens to 'maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness when traveling.'

Webmaster's Commentary:

ISRAEL LAUNCHES MASSIVE SURPRISE MILITARY DRILL AHEAD OF TRUMP’S JERUSALEM SPEECH AND AFTER STRIKES IN SYRIA

Israel launched a large-scale surprise military drill late Tuesday along the country’s northern border with Lebanon, one of many regional countries to condemn President Donald Trump’s anticipated announcement recognizing the disputed city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The Israeli military reportedly mobilized its Galilee division, including hundreds of logistics corps soldiers and dozens of vehicles, without prior notice, in an effort to test its rapid-response capabilities in the event of a conflict breaking out in the tense northern region, near foes Lebanon and Syria. Both Arab nations have recognized Jerusalem solely as the capital of an independent Palestinian state, and have been hit by Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran-backed forces, such as Lebanon’s Shiite Muslim Hezbollah movement, which has focused on battling Syrian rebels and jihadis in recent years. It has also clashed with Israeli forces for decades.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel will be attacking Lebanon soon; it is just a question of time, and when they believe that, due to other world conflicts, they can actually get away with it.

Asia’s Other Nuclear Standoff

By roping India and Japan into its standoff with China, the U.S. is raising the nuclear stakes in Asia – including, dangerously, between India and Pakistan.

With the world focused on the scary possibility of war on the Korean Peninsula, not many people paid much attention to a series of naval exercises this past July in the Malacca Strait, a 550-mile long passage between Sumatra and Malaysia through which pass over 50,000 ships a year.

With President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un exchanging threats and insults, why would the media bother with something innocuously labeled “Malabar 17”?

They should have.

Malabar 17 brought together the US, Japanese, and Indian navies to practice shutting down a waterway through which 80 percent of China’s energy supplies travel and to war games closing off the Indian Ocean to Chinese submarines. If Korea keeps you up at night, try imagining the outcome of choking off fuel for the world’s second largest economy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

War with China (or Russia, for that matter) right now, would be the most pig-headedly, ham-fistedly stupid thing the US government could do right now.

This, unfortunately, is absolutely no guarantee that the US government won't haul off and do it. Paul Craig Roberts has made this claim, that there are plans in the works to do just that, and he presented this in an article he wrote last Spring:

America’s most famous whistleblower, the former military analyst who leaked the Pentagon Papers which helped end the Vietnam war – has just published a book revealing that he was also one of the main nuclear war planners for the United States in the 1960s.

Ellsberg said in an interview this morning on Democracy Now that the U.S. had plans for a first strike on every city in Russia and China … and that numerous field-level commanders had the power to start nuclear Armageddon:

Abbas: US Can No Longer Mediate Israel-Palestinian Talks

With the US so heavily committed to supporting Israel, and protecting them from any UN resolutions, it’s always been difficult for the Palestinian leadership to trust the US to be an impartial moderator for peace efforts. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says Wednesday’s move by President Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital has effectively ended that entirely.

Abbas says there is no way at this point that the Palestinians can trust the US to be a mediator, saying Trump’s move encourages Israel to continue the occupation and expansion of settlements, undermining the two-state solution.

Trump has suggested that the recognition of the capital is going to help the peace process, though the Secretaries of State and Defense are both warning the move risks provoking regional violence, and White House officials say that the recognition threatens the peace process in the near-term

Webmaster's Commentary:

What President Trump has done, effectively, in this act, is he has thoroughly destroyed the peace process; characterized American foreign policy, when it comes to the Palestenian people, as completely undeserving of any trust or credibility; destroyed any possibility of a two-state solution; and made new regional wars nearly inevitble.

These were precisely the outcomes Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu wanted, because fear of such internal violence and wars against its neighbors, have always been Netanyahu's major way to "glue" the Israeli people together, and let him do, basically, whatever he wants with Israel's government and military.

Remember the animated movie "Wreck-It Ralph"?!? Well, it appears that, when it comes to any Israeli/Palestinian peace and rapprochement, we have a "Wreck-It Donald" in the White House, a turn of events over which I am both profoundly unhappy, and deeply concerned.

‘Not if, but when’: N. Korea claims US warmongering makes potential nuclear war inevitable

North Korea views the endless military drills on its borders and repeated “bellicose remarks” by top US officials as means to “provoke” a nuclear war in the region, in which the US itself will be “burnt to death by the fire.”
“The large-scale nuclear war exercises conducted by the US in succession are creating touch-and-go situation on the Korean peninsula and series of violent war remarks coming from the US high-level politicians amid such circumstances have made an outbreak of war on the Korean peninsula an established fact. The remaining question now is: when will the war break out,” a spokesperson for North Korea’s foreign ministry said Wednesday in commentary provided by state news agency KCNA.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Tomorrow is December 8th; I am hoping (and praying) that these exercises will end quietly, and the Kim Jong Un doesn't feel like uncorking another ICBM test any time soon, as a response to these exercises.

Because should war break out, the casualties, on all sides, will be enormous, including, potentially, the dependents of the American military in South Korea. And although there are very few times I agree with the guy, I think Lindsey Graham was correct about pulling US dependents out of South Korea:

Lindsey Graham Calls on the Pentagon to Pull Families of Service Members out of South Korea due to War Worries

However, for the Pentagon, such a move would be a massive "tip of the hand", telegraphing an attack was coming, so no matter how much "collateral damage" may result for military families from a blitzkrieg-style, US attack against North Korea, I don't see an evacuation of military family personnel happening for just that reason.

Trump's Jerusalem Tit-For-Tat: Orders Saudis To ‘Immediately’ End Yemen Blockade

In a brief statement issued Wednesday afternoon, President Trump called on Saudi leadership to completely lift the years long Saudi military blockade on war-torn Yemen. The unexpected announcement came on the same day President Trump delivered an extremely controversial televised address wherein he gave official US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“I have directed officials in my administration to call the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to request that they completely allow food, fuel, water and medicine to reach the Yemeni people who desperately need it,” Trump said through a White House press release. “This must be done for humanitarian reasons immediately.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, please let me get my head around this; you are requesting that the Butcher of Yemen, AKA Prince Salman, end the siege of Yemen, after you just publicly recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital, keeping your promise to APIAC, and symbolically writing off your debt of $100 million dollars to Sheldon Adelson during the last campaign and yet, you are expecting all of this to make Prince Salman amenable to ending the seige of Yemen?!?

Sir, I am frantically looking for the logic in this request, and frankly seeing absolutely none.

What I would rather expect, particularly after your declaration yesterday regarding Jerusalem, is for Prince Salman to massively acellerate his bombing campaign in Yemen to the point of wiping out any Yemeni people still standing, in retalliation for your having recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

WHY THE GLOBALISTS NEED A WAR, AND SOON

In recent years the concept of “world war” has given way to a more insidious trend of constant and sporadic regional wars. In most cases these regional wars have helped to contribute to the steady downfall of the U.S. through accumulating national debts as well as international distrust or hatred. In fact, one might conclude that if we were to look at the macro-picture of the vast array of regional wars being perpetrated by the globalists we would see that all of them combined are amounting to a kind of world war in a different form.

PULITZER PRIZE WINNER SEYMOUR HERSH, JOHN PILGER, AND NOAM CHOMSKY ARE CONSIDERED ‘FAR-RIGHT CONSPIRACISTS’ IN THE SYCOPHANTIC NEW SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM.

Manadel al-Jamadi hung from the rusty rungs of a barred window, his hands behind his back in a style known as a Palestinian hanging. American troops beat him and demanded the unconscious prisoner reveal the whereabouts of a non-existent weapons cache. His face was hidden under a green bag and hanging down over his droopy shoulders, displacing from their sockets from gravity’s force, pushing his limp body down to the cold ground of his cell.

Half an hour passed, and the exuberant Americans soldiers started to think that the sorry Iraqi man was cheating them by playing dead ‘like a possum’, and released him from his stress position. They then realised that the prisoner had no pulse.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When telling the truth becomes criminal, the truth teller becomes, as have Hersch, Pilger, and Chompsky, anathemas to the Deep State, and are to be punished for having had the audacity to even look for the truth, particularly when that truth does not align with the official, consistently regurgitated, Deep State narrative, which has been created to further its agenda.

Gentlemen, welcome to our world.

How Many Wars Is the US Really Fighting?

This year, US Special Operations forces have already deployed to 135 nations, according to Ken McGraw, a spokesman for Special Operations Command (SOCOM). That’s roughly 70 percent of the countries on the planet. Every day, in fact, America’s most elite troops are carrying out missions in 80 to 90 nations, practicing night raids or sometimes conducting them for real, engaging in sniper training or sometimes actually gunning down enemies from afar. As part of a global engagement strategy of endless hush-hush operations conducted on every continent but Antarctica, they have now eclipsed the number and range of special ops missions undertaken at the height of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If there was ever a time this country needs a Department of Peace, to advocate for non-military resolutions to geopolitical conflicts, it is right the hell now.

Our troop strength is stretched way too thinly as it is.

Additionally, unlike what we have seen with Russian weaponry, which has performed brilliantly in Syria, the weaponry our soldiers get rarely works as advertised, and many times has to be scrapped just as it is coming on line. I submit, for your edification, the Navy's new rail gun, which may have to be scrapped.

I used to believe (perhaps, quixotically), that the US government had the skills and abilities to win in international conflicts through hard-won, moral negotiations; sadly, it seems that if such a capability ever truly existed on the part of the US government, it no longer does.

The Occupied, Unhinged, Surveilled States of America cannot seem to get what it wants, geopolitically, without clubbing other countries into submission with its military might, and that is precisely what we are seeing, in this deployment of American military around the world, both overtly... and covertly.

WHEN DID OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM AND FLAG, BECOME ALL ABOUT THE MILITARY?

The people of the USA have been programmed over the last century, to only think of our anthem and flag as it relates to the military. We have been conditioned for the past 65 years or so to associated our flag and anthem only with the military. The corporate elites have told us that we are enjoying our freedom as Americans because our military has fought for our freedom.Really! Which recent war did the US military fight in, which guarantee our freedoms as citizens of the USA?Was it the wars in Korea; Vietnam; Iraq; or the war in Afghanistan; the war on drugs; the war on poverty? Or maybe the military invasions during the 20th century of Grenada; Panama; Haiti; Nicaragua; Dominican Republic; the Philippines; Lebanon?Which one of these wars and military interventions in poor countries, guaranteed our freedom as American citizens? When was the last time any other nation threatened to invade the USA?

Why The Globalists Need A War, And Soon

International financiers and political puppets in Western AND Eastern countries share a deep rooted ideology called "globalism" or the "new world order." This ideology demands total centralization of economy and government resulting in a single global fiscal authority, a single global monetary system and a one world ruling structure. Obviously, such a pursuit would take extensive time and planning. It is a long term project, with moments of accelerated change.

War is Peace

No one has utilised the Orwellian dictate that ‘War is Peace’ better than Donald Trump. In Orwell’s1984, the Party maintains stability at home by waging constant war elsewhere.

Some contend that the American president is ‘illiterate’ and ‘ignorant.’ Others argue that it his intellectual skills that are limited. I have read some negative assessments of the President’s mental condition. But no one can really dispute Trump’s achievements. Against all odds, Trump became president. Despite relentless efforts to evict him from office, he has managed to cling to the White building. He regularly makes unpredictable unpopular decisions that make no sense to most reasonable, intelligent people. He communicates with the world by means of snippets and tweets. Yet miraculously, he prevails.

YEMEN’S WAR IS DESTROYING A GENERATION OF CHILDREN

Ahmed, 13, was picking guava fruit from trees in the Al-Jahmalia district of Taiz with four friends on Sept. 18 when the bombs fell.

After trying in vain to persuade his friends into a game of soccer, he’d wandered off. Minutes later a shell, fired by Houthi-Saleh forces, struck, shaking the earth beneath Ahmed’s feet. He ran back to check on his friends, only to arrive in time to watch the youngest, Rayan, 6, take his last breath on the street. The limbs of the others, ages 15, 14, and 12, were scattered across the narrow pathway between traditional stone houses.

“At the beginning of the war, we used to get scared. But now we are used to it,” said Ahmed, the crackle of gunfire and shelling echoing in the distance. He was standing in the same street where he’d watched his friends die two weeks earlier.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You have to understand: this is precisely the outcome Saudi Arabia's Butcher of Yemen, AKA Prince Salman, wants to see happening in Yemen.

And, of course, in light of the reality that the US government is aiding and abetting Saudi war crimes in Yemen, these are precisely the outcomes Prince Salman is getting; the assassinations of children, women, and the medical fragile elderly; deaths through malnutrition, through cholera and now, diptheria.

I would imagine, with the assination of former President Saleh, that the Prince may well order a concerted carpet bombing of Yemen, and complete his grisly and gruesome genocide against this country.

Trump to declare Jerusalem capital of Israel: White House officials

The president is expected to officially announce the policy changes in remarks at the White House at 1pm on Wednesday.

A U.S. official and a source close to the White House told ABC News that official recognition of Jerusalem as the capital is expected to be intentionally broad and not meant to preclude the possibility that the Palestinians could claim part of the historic city as a capital of a future Palestinian state. The president does not want to "prejudice" the outcome of any future peace negotiations for a two-state solution, one source familiar with the plan told ABC News.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please; if your desired outcome of this announcement was to light a match and throw it into pools of gasoline in order to ignite the entire Middle East on fire, you certainly have achieved your objective, bravo!! Well done!!

You had to understand that once this announcement was made, Israel will never allow the Palestinians to claim even a tiny portion of Jerusalem as their capital, and will continue to pursue brisk Jewish only settlements, coupled by brisk annexations and demolitions of homes in which Palestinians have lived for decades, which will engulf the West Bank and East Jerusalem into places of extreme violence, which will put both Israelis and Palestinians in great risk for violence.

By this action, you have incontrovertibly proven, and demonstrated fully, that the United states is pathologically incapable of being an honest broker for peace, and that the two state solution is, for all intents, and purposes, dead.

Congratulations on your monumental idiocy on this issue; your good buddy, Prime Minister Netanyahu got precisely what he wanted; but the price, in terms of potential violence for the entire region, is potentially going to be an horrific price to pay.

And one has to speculate; was this how he promised to pay back that hundred million dollar donation from Sheldon Adelson in 2016?!?

US bombers to fly over Korean peninsula: report

The U.S. Air Force will send a number of B-1B Lancer bombers to South Korea on Wednesday to take part in a week-long joint military exercise following Pyongyang's latest missile test, according to Yonhap News Agency.

An unspecified number of the long-range bombers will join more than 230 aircraft taking part in the two countries' largest-ever joint exercise, called "Vigilant Ace," a defense source told the South Korean news agency.

The move comes shortly after North Korea launched its first missile test in two months.

The supersonic bombers have previously flown to the peninsula in pairs as a show of force after past missile launches by the isolated nation's military.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am hoping (and, as a Christian, praying) that nothing goes haywire between now and the end of this week, when these exercises are supposed to end, and that Kim Jong Un will not believe it to be strategically in his best interest to launch another ICBM at the conclusion of these exercises.

FLASHBACK 1991 - Iraqi Missile Slams Into GIs' Barracks; 27 Killed : Scud attack: 98 are hurt in the deadliest such strike of the war. Quarters were for Pennsylvania reserve unit.

DHAHRAN, Saudi Arabia — Flaming debris from an Iraqi Scud missile slammed into a makeshift barracks full of U.S. troops near here Monday night, killing at least 27 soldiers and injuring 98 in a fierce explosion and fire, according to the U.S. military Central Command in Riyadh.

Eyewitnesses said a Patriot missile had intercepted the Scud overhead, but U.S. military officials in Riyadh said they could not confirm that a Patriot had been launched.

Russia Warns Korean Peninsula "On Brink Of War"

Following the launch of the "largest ever" US-South Korean aerial military drills, and Pyongyang's latest, most impressive, missile test, the Russian foreign ministry issued a warning that "the situation on the Korean Peninsula is on the brink of war," adding that "Kim seeks to raise the stakes before any talks."

The US and South Korea launched their largest aerial drills yet on Monday, less than a week after North Korea tested its new Hwasong-15 missile which military observers said has the capacity to strike Washington DC, or nearly any other location in the continental US. The launched shattered nearly two months of calm as many suspected the North’s benefactors in China were making good on their promises to rein in the restive state’s belligerent behavior.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am hoping (and, as a Christian, praying) that nothing goes haywire before the end of these exercises, and that Kim Jung Un doesn't throw another ICBM into the air right after them.

IF Russia is going to offer itself as an intermediary to ratchet down the tensions here, the US government should graciously accept any assistance in doing so.

But of course, that... would be logical, so it will be immediately rejected out of hand.

Trump and Netanyahu Conspire to Make Jerusalem Israel’s Capital as They Make Preparations to Attack Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is apparently now close to being indicted for corruption, is becoming increasingly desperate to cover up his alleged financial criminality. His strategy to deflect attention is to conspire with the Trump family for the US to collaborate in changing the status of Jerusalem from an ‘international city affording access to all faiths’, to being the political capital of Israel.

It is also alleged that he is colluding with the White House in making preparations for Israeli forces to attack Iran, presumably together with US troops and American F-35 strike aircraft. That would be a catastrophic political and military error that would have dire consequences for both the Middle East and Europe.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Netanyahu faces a country politically turning against him.

Thousands protest against Netanyahu's corruption

As reported in mondoweiss.net, the following article appeared:

The veteran journalist Larry Derfner reports from Israel that “everybody here feels war is coming.” He adds, “There’s so much tough talk from Israel, and the Saudis would love Israel to fight a war for their interests, and the tension is very high — all this is in the news all the time.” Derfner does not believe Hezbollah or Iran would start the conflict, “because they know they’d get crushed.” He explains, “The only one I see starting it is Israel, because Israel is both strong and paranoid.” Bradley Burston, a respected columnist in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, also could not have been more clear the other day. His opinion piece was entitled, “Netanyahu Needs a War. He Needs It to Be With Iran. And He Needs It Soon.” Burston argues that Netanyahu has several selfish reasons for wanting a conflict: 1) The Israeli political reality is turning against him. “He’s desperate now because he’s losing ground fast in the latest opinion polls.” 2) He sees he may be out of power soon, and he’s “obsessed by his place in history.” Burston writes, “Netanyahu still has no legacy beyond the number of all those many years in power.” 3) Netanyahu may also provoke war to distract from the ongoing probes into his corruption: “He’s desperate because police detectives and investigative journalists are closing in on him.”

CIA Chief: Saudi, Israel May Set Up ‘Joint Military Headquarters’

CIA Director Mike Pompeo says Saudi Arabia is working directly with Israel on confronting “challenges” in the Middle East, suggesting that the two sides could go as far as setting up “a joint military headquarters.”

Speaking at the Reagan National Defense Forum in California, Pompeo cited Daesh, Iran and “failed states” as posing a challenge to both Saudi Arabia and Israel, advising the two sides to develop their relationship.

“We’ve seen them [Saudis] work with the Israelis to push back against terrorism throughout the Middle East, to the extent we can continue to develop those relationships and work alongside them – the [Persian] Gulf states and broader Middle East will likely be more secure,” he said.

“It is incredibly important that in the Middle East, where we have failed states, where you have ISIS, where you have Iran, that we have got to develop a stronger coalition of countries that are willing to work together to confront these challenges,” he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

CIA Director Pompeo, forgive me please sir, but this is an officially horrible idea, and concretely telegraphs that the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, are all gung ho on attacking Iran, creating "regime change" in Tehran.

So Director Pompeo,I, need to ask a question of you here; should the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia do this, how will Russia respond, in light of the fact that Russian military and political leaders have vowed to protect Iran militarily, should it be attacked?!?

Director Pompeo, I truly believe that you owe all Americans, particularly those whose kids will be killed or mamed for life in such a war, a brutally honest assessment here of what the potential involvement of Russia's military would mean in a war against Iran.

An ominous warning: ‘Netanyahu needs a war with Iran. And he needs it soon’

2 December, 2017: In a dangerous escalation, Israel last night attacked a military base near Syria’s capital, Damascus, using both warplanes and surface-to-surface missiles. News sources in Syria said the target was an Iranian installation near Al-Kiswa, 7 miles south of the city.

This attack — Israeli officials declined comment — is just the latest ominous sign from Israel that the unholy alliance of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, may be planning to greatly expand war in the Mideast, targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, and its ally and patron, Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel may, in fact, start this war, but they will fully expect most of the costs, in blood and money, to be borne by a US intervention into this war, on Israel's side.

I hope President Trump thoroughly comprehends that should we attack Iran, Russia - whose political and military leaders have consistently vowed to protect it under attack - will enter the fray on Iran's side.

And, as having been demonstrated in Syria, Russian weaponry does work.

Yemen: 'Now there will be a new level of civil war'

The death of Yemen's former president Ali Abdullah Saleh raises doubts about the future of the war-torn country, as a Saudi-led coalition's fight against Houthi rebels will likely intensify, analysts say.

Saleh was killed on Monday by Houthi fighters - his former allies - and his death is considered a "very big blow" to his forces, said Hakim al-Masmari, editor-in-chief of the Yemen Post.

"His house has been under siege for the last two days and today they attacked the house. He escaped … he was found in a vehicle that had clashed with Houthi checkpoint forces," he told Al Jazeera from Yemen's capital, Sanaa.

"This is where he was killed along with a number of his senior aides."

Saleh, who ruled Yemen for more than three decades and played a pivotal role in the country's ongoing civil war, had called on the Saudi-led coalition to lift the siege it imposed on Yemen in a televised speech on Saturday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am fully expecting the Butcher of Yemen, Saudi Arabia's Prince Salman, to order as full and thorough carpet bombing of Yemen as he can conjur, leaving no Yemenis still breathing, and completely destroying what is already hideously destroyed infrastructure behind.

And let's call it by its proper name: genocide, in which the US government and military are blissfully complicit.

CBO: Trump military buildup would cost taxpayers an extra $683 billion

The military buildup President Donald Trump has called for would cost $683 billion more than current spending plans over the next decade, according to a new analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.

To achieve the buildup, the base budget would have to reach $688 billion by 2027, more than 20 percent larger than peak defense spending during the 1980s, CBO said in a report released Monday.

The CBO score comes as Trump closes out his first year in office without substantially advancing his promise to “rebuild the military” and — with statutory budget caps in place — no clear political path to the massive defense increase required to achieve it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word, please; can we look at spending more intelligently, rather than just spending more money?!?

Because this government has been busily throwing an inordinant amount of money on weapons systems which just don't work at all as advertised.

Please consider this; are political victories, in the name of party and personal power, bought by huge corporate donations, many times from the military industrial complex, worth the ultimate price of their weapons not functioning when our military desperately needs them to work, in order to win military conflicts?!?

There is something fundamentally wrong with the culture of our weapons systems developers, if that is the way they are being allowed to think by this government, and the elements in the government which assign weapons contracts.

That, President Trump... has to change, and change immediately, if our military is to regain its competitive edge.

US Officials Claim Assad ‘Not Capable of Winning’ in Syria War

With ISIS all but defeated and other rebel forces mostly boiled down to just the Idlib Province and a few smaller enclaves, most people have been saying for months at this point that the Assad government has effectively “won” the Syrian War and will survive the conflict, albeit with some reforms needed at the end.

US officials, however, are insisting that Assad is wholly “not capable of winning” this war, citing massive damage to the national infrastructure, huge casualties the military has suffered, and his growing dependence on his allies.

This prediction of “not winning” is likely to be the centerpiece of future US justifications for keeping large numbers of ground troops in Syria over the express objections of the Syrian government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is the US and its proxies who have actually lost in Syria.

And one has to wonder just how long the Russians are going to put up with this concocted "nonsense" as the justification for US troops remaining on the ground here.

Were I a betting person, I would bet: not very long.

US F-35 Reportedly Starts to Crumble in Okinawa in 'Routine Training Mission'

The reputation of the most expensive plane in history has once again been tarnished.

The F-35, a fifth-generation US stealth fighter, lost part of its fuselage, during a "routine training mission" near Kadena Air Base in Japan, according to the Defense News.

The incident, which occurred east of Okinawa on November 30, was reported by Japanese media at the time, but it wasn't until December 4 that US Air Force officials confirmed the report.

The loss of one of the plane's panels, measuring approximately 12 inches (30 centimeters) by 24 inches (60 centimeters), was noticed by the F-35's wingman as the aircraft was in the process of landing.
