BlogviewPatrick Cockburn Archive Uncritical Support from the US Will Do Israel More Damage Than Good

The Palestinian issue is back on the international agenda more than at any time over the last 15 years. If the move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem was intended to demonstrate that the Palestinians were powerless and there was nothing they could do about it, then it has failed.

The embassy move, signalling that the US has abandoned even its previous modest restraint on Israeli actions, had exactly the opposite effect to the one intended. The protesting Palestinians and not the celebrating Israelis and Americans became the central feature of the event. Television split screens showed what looked like a Trump campaign rally in Jerusalem side by side with Israeli soldiers shooting dead 62 Palestinians and wounding a further 1,360 in Gaza.

Israeli claims that they were defending the fence that surrounds Gaza from an attack by Hamas activists armed with stones and kites were contradicted both by the television pictures and the lack of any Israeli casualties.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Patrick Cockburn, whose work I greatly respect, misses one critical point in his equation; the Trump Presidency has absolutely outsourced his Middle East policy to Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu, and that creates an horrific danger for this country, the Middle East in general, and the world.

Please understand; Israel wants to see Lebanon, Syria, and Iran "neutralized, and to see regime change in all countries to create governments which are more Israel-centric. He also wants to see Hamas fail spectacularly in Gaza, and is doing everything within his power to accomplish that goal.

However, the caveat I would share here, is that he only wants this done at the costs of American blood and American money.

And then, there is the 6,000 lb gorilla, snoozing on the Bosendorfer grand, in the living room in the situations in Syria and Iran; that is the presence of Russia, which has pledged to prevent both the regimes in both countries from falling, if they are attacked militarily.

Tel Aviv would love nothing better than creating the climate for "Let Russia and the US fight it out in Syria and Iran." And what happens if such a war is a Pyrrhic victory for both sides?!?

Israel is then in position to control all the region's oil, and in what currency that oil will be sold.

Do not be deceived here; in terms of nation-to-nation "friendship", Israel is a true "frenemy", ready to instantly turn away, when the dead host, WarMerica, can no longer support its hubristic warmongering in the region.

And this is followed by a companion article, also from antiwar.com, which is more than a little eye-opening on the topic of the US government "never being able to do enough for Israel":

Israeli MPs Push Trump to Let Them Use Military Aid on Non-US Equipment

The article goes on to state:

"The $38 billion aid package is to be spent on US-made equipment. This has been a common way to make foreign aid politically safe, as it means that money is ultimately going to US arms makers who have a lot of influence.

Israeli officials, however, see this US armament as a problem for their economy. The Israeli Knesset Finance Committee is estimating that 22,000 Israeli jobs would be lost if the US doesn’t just send Israel the money straightaway and let them spending on Israeli-made arms."

Washington’s Pax Americana Cartel

In 2016, Donald Trump distinguished himself from his chief Republican opponents and certainly from Hillary Clinton by saying out loud what many ordinary Americans already suspected: that in terms of immediate threats, it’s not some faraway axis of evil that we need to worry about so much as pervasive stupidity among the managers of Pax America in Washington. In memorable fashion, Trump vowed to “drain the swamp” and to formulate an “America First” approach to policy. If elected, Trump would end the reckless squandering of American power. So, at least, he said.

May 22 11:35

The Day of Shame

For me, the moving of the US embassy means nothing. It is a symbolic act that does not change reality. If and when peace does come, no one will care about some stupid act of a half-forgotten US president. Inshallah.

So there they were, this bunch of self-important nobodies, Israelis, Americans and those in-between, having their little festival, while rivers of blood were flowing in Gaza. Human beings were killed by the dozen and wounded by the thousand.

The ceremony started as a cynical meeting, which quickly became grotesque, and ended in being sinister. Nero fiddling while Rome was burning.

When the last hug was exchanged and the last compliment paid (especially to the graceful Ivanka), Gaza remained what it was – a huge concentration camp with severely overcrowded hospitals, lacking medicines and food, drinkable water and electricity.

Syrian Army Has Full Control of Metro Damascus After ISIS Ouster

The Syrian Army has issued a statement today declaring victory in the fight over metro Damascus, saying that effective Monday Damascus and all of its surroundings are “completely secure” and under military and government control.

Expelling rebels and jihadists from suburbs of Damascus has been a priority for awhile. The defeat of rebels in Eastern Ghouta was a major step in that direction, but it was only this weekend, with the evacuation of the last few ISIS fighters, that the whole area was secure.

ISIS forces managed to infiltrate the Yarmouk refugee camp and surrounding area, south of Damascus. The refugee camp, which once housed a large number of Palestinians, has been contested repeatedly since the Syrian War began.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Congrats to the Russian, Syrian, and Iranian forces which have contributed to making this happen.

But this vile, US/NATO backed war against Al Assad has left the country in utter ruins, and the question of how Syria can get help in rebuilding must be asked, and answered quickly.

South Koreans See John Bolton as an Obstacle to Trump-Kim Summit

While President Trump’s reaction to “hiccups” in diplomacy ahead of the North Korea summit is to threaten Kim, South Korean officials say they see the real problem as John Bolton. MP Chung Dong-young referred to Bolton as one of “several land mines” that are in the way of the summit.

South Korea’s current pro-diplomacy government has a lot of familiar faces to their last such government, which was in power when Bolton was a hawkish ambassador. South Korean analysts saw Bolton’s hawkish stance on North Korea before as a problem, and say he hasn’t changed.

When Bolton’s talk of the “Libya model” in North Korea immediately provoked fury from the North Korean government, US officials didn’t seem to understand why. South Korean officials say the “Libya model” was an obvious red light to North Korea.

Indeed, it’s a blunder to the point where officials suggest that Bolton is deliberately interfering in the peace process, and trying to botch it in doing so.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bolton is one of the most war-centric people around this President, and that is a real problem for any kind of peace to have a chance to happen between the two Koreas.

He will try to do his utmost to scuttle the meeting between Trump and Kim Jung Un, and he, and his cohorts, do have a rather wide assortment of tactics they can deploy in their diplomatic, and military, arsenals, to prevent this from happening.

Pentagon Threatens More Aggressive Stance Toward Iran

Following up on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s bellicose threats toward Iran, Pentagon officials suggested that moving against Iran would require a “whole government solution.” They pointed toward the Pentagon being more aggressive toward Iran in the future.

While officials were not specific about what the Pentagon would or even might do, they condemned Iran’s “malign influence” in the region. Some talked up freedom of navigation operations, which has long been a favored way for the US Navy to pick fights or escalate tensions with rivals.

Purely theoretically, the freedom of navigation exercise is just meant to prove that ships can safely transit certain waters. Though Iran has never impeded anyone’s ships passing around their sphere of influence, the US Navy has favored parking ships along Iran’s maritime borders, and occasionally hugging that border.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What alleged "malign influence" is the Pentagon talking about here, regarding Iran, please?!?

Just because Iranian advisors were not going to allow Syria to go down in flames, courtesy of a US/NATO cabal, supporting rebels in taking control of Damascus' government, and throwing Al Assad out, is this the reason for the Pentagon's ire against it?!?

Someone... has some 'spaining to do, as to the actual, and specific, activities Iran has really done, then honestly document them, if they think for one moment that they can lead the American people to a mindset of wanting war against the Iranians, who have done nothing negative, or wrong, to the people of the US. The people of this country are both war-weary, and war-skeptical, and more wars will be a lose for any candidate who supports more wars, before mid-term elections here in the US.

Russian Airbase In Syria Attacked By Drones Of "Unknown Origin"

Did the Russians just repel another al-Qaeda mass drone attack, similar to the one in January of this year?

Though details are still unclear, Damascus-based journalist Danny Makki reports that numerous drones have been downed by Russian air-defenses near Khmeimim airbase (or alternately Hmeimim airbase). In the nearby coastal city of Jableh loud aerial explosions could be heard sometime before 11pm local time — thought to be Russian missile defense systems engaging the drones.

The Russian Defense Ministry quickly acknowledged the attack, telling RT News that "An unmanned aircraft of unknown origin has been shot down near the Russian Khmeimim airbase in Syria." And further: "No one was injured in the incident and the base did not sustain any damage," the Russian Defense Ministry said

Webmaster's Commentary:

And if they were from Al Qaeda, how did Al Qaeda get them?!? From the US or the UK, perchance?!?

And also, we have a companion story yesterday from blackistednews.com, stating the following:

The U.S. Army Is Turning to Robot Soldiers

From the spears hurled by Romans to the missiles launched by fighter pilots, the weapons humans use to kill each other have always been subject to improvement. Militaries seek to make each one ever-more lethal and, in doing so, better protect the soldier who wields it. But in the next evolution of combat, the U.S. Army is heading down a path that may lead humans off the battlefield entirely.

Over the next few years, the Pentagon is poised to spend almost $1 billion for a range of robots designed to complement combat troops. Beyond scouting and explosives disposal, these new machines will sniff out hazardous chemicals or other agents, perform complex reconnaissance and even carry a soldier’s gear.

Russia, China Would Destroy U.S. Command Aircraft on 'Day 1' of War, Air Force Warns

Russian and Chinese air defense superiority means that even the most cutting-edge command and control aircraft in the American fleet would be shot down immediately in the event of a war, leaving U.S. forces blind on the battlefield.

Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson told the Senate Appropriations subcommittee on defense that even with planned upgrades to the planes, Russian and Chinese technology means they would be too easy a target for effective use, the Air Force Times reported.

AN ISRAEL-IRAN WAR IS UNLIKELY TO HAPPEN ANY TIME SOON

Writing in the Asia Times earlier this month, David P. Goldman lamented that an Israel-Iran war is unlikely to take place any time soon. His observation appears surprising considering the mainstream media has been hyping up the idea of such a war over the past few months.

Nevertheless, he is correct. Short of something catastrophic that completely upsets the current status quo, there are many signs that Israel and Iran are not headed for a direct confrontation in the immediate future. Though the mainstream media dishonestly advertises such a war, the truth is that Israel’s next war will not take place in Iran — or even Syria for that matter. It is far more likely to take place in Lebanon.

As Goldman explained:

Webmaster's Commentary:

First, why in the name of heaven, is this man "lamenting" that it doesn't look like there will be war between Israel and Iran in the near term, but a war against Hezbullah in Lebanon is close to a dead moral certainty?!?

For intelligent people, any war is to be avoided if there is any other way to resolve geopolitical differences.

Apparently, when it comes to David Goldman's thinking, all wars bringing Israel closer to acheiving the "Erez Israel" model, should be pursued, and immediately.

Sweden distributes 'be prepared for war' leaflet to all 4.8m homes

The Swedish government has begun sending all 4.8m of the country’s households a public information leaflet telling the population, for the first time in more than half a century, what to do in the event of a war.

Om krisen eller kriget kommer (If crisis or war comes) explains how people can secure basic needs such as food, water and heat, what warning signals mean, where to find bomb shelters and how to contribute to Sweden’s “total defence”.

The 20-page pamphlet, illustrated with pictures of sirens, warplanes and families fleeing their homes, also prepares the population for dangers such as cyber and terror attacks and climate change, and includes a page on identifying fake news.

The publication comes as the debate on security – and the possibility of joining Nato – has intensified in Sweden in the wake of Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and recent incursions into Swedish airspace and territorial waters by Russian planes and submarines.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question I need to ask here is, why now?!?

You have to love the irony of this story, written by John Henley, as the Swedish officials talk about how to spot fake news, then in a couple of paragraphs down, Henley makes the false claim that Russia "annexed" Crimea, which never happened.

In 2014, after the coup threw the duly elected Ukrainian President Yanukovich under the proverbial bus, and replaced him with Poroshenko, Crimean officials realized that there was no true rule of law in Ukraine at that point.

What they did was a two-step referendum, first asking their people if they wanted to stay with Ukraine of leave it (the people voted overwhelmingly to leave, due to Ukraine's massive corruption), and secondly, petition the Russian Federation to join it, and Russia accepted that petition. These are the facts on the ground which cannot be erased, period, end of discussion.

And John, for having included that codswallop "bit" about Russia having annexed Crimea, because that is the American And European narrative, and you have been given your "marching orders" not to stray from it, even though you know it never happened, shame on you, sir.

DUMA PASSES BILL ON COUNTER-SANCTIONS, GIVES RUSSIAN GOVT POWER TO IMPOSE RESTRICTIONS

The Russian State Duma has passed a bill aimed at defending "economic interests and security" in response to the latest sanctions introduced by the United States and its allies.
The motion was drafted by State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and the heads of all four parliamentary caucuses in mid-April, days after the US Treasury Department released a list of 24 Russian citizens and 14 Russian corporations that fall under new sanctions imposed over Russia’s foreign policy.

“The main objective of this federal law is to defend the economic interests and security of the Russian Federation, its territorial integrity and the rights and freedoms of its citizens, from unfriendly actions of the USA and other foreign states that impose political or economic sanctions against the Russian Federation, its citizens and companies or any other activities aimed at destabilizing Russia’s politics or economy,” reads the freshly approved bill.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And so, the escalation continues, essentially due to the US government punishing Russia for things it has not done, like allegedly annexing Crimea, which never actually happened.

I hate the way trade wars can escalate into shooting wars, which the Presidents of both countries claim that they do not want, but right now, it looks like a question of when, rather than if, we are looking at a military confrontation between the two.

I cannot tell you if we are looking at that confrontation in Syria; Iran; Dombass/Ukraine, or elsewhere; but I can feel it coming, and with a certain, particular dark aura of ...inevitability.

The Messiah Is Here

Excellent piece covering the last couple of weeks in the Mideast.
Pretty well sums it up! Trump and Putin in Netanyahu's pocket.

The arrival of Benjamin Netanyahu on that day was a heaven-sent gift for Putin. Here was the man who could call upon the US Senate, who can deal with the US President, and now he came in person, Mr World Jewry personified, supporting the Russian narrative of history

Netanyahu repaid his host by a missile strike upon Syria, almost right away. This is a standard Israeli procedure: upon any high-level meeting with the Russians, bomb their allies, so they would know who is more important. They bombed Syria while Russian Defence Minister Shoygu’s jet was still in flight from Moscow to Tel Aviv.
Putin swallowed it, and promised to refrain from supplying S-300 to Syria, despite his Chief of Staff’s words.

Trump's Big Defense-Spending Plans Still Aren't Enough For This Beltway Think Tank

Earlier this month, SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) which monitors global military spending, released its latest report. To no one's surprise, the US topped the list, with more spending than the next seven biggest spenders combined.

According to the report, in 2017 the US spent 610 billion dollars, while China spent 228 billion. The rest of the list engaged in miniscule amounts of spending by comparison, with Russia spending 66 billion, the UK spending 47 billion, and Japan spending 45 billion — to list a few examples.

Viewed in light of the deterrent power of the US's enormous nuclear stockpile, US military capability is far greater than even the SIPRI report suggests.

Nevertheless, there are some in Washington who every year cry wolf over how the US military is being stripped to the bone, and that the US must "rebuild" its military capability.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The issue isn't more money; it is getting every penny's worth of taxpayer dollars in what the DOD is already spending.

The corporate weapons industry culture believes that it is just fine to deliver products which are obsolete at the time of delivery; products which don't work as advertised; and that have insane cost overruns, breaking the budget. And why do these people believe this?!?

Because they contribute so intensely, overtly and covertly, to national political campaigns, they never think that things need to change, and this has put the US military in a position falling behind Russia and China in development, because their weapons manufacturers are delivering what their countries are asking of them, and even more.

We need that to start happening in the US military/industrial complex, and quickly.

Corporate leaders in this industry need to understand that in the next phase of US weapons development, they either deliver equipment on time, within budget, and working as advertised, or... the US government could well nationalize its weapons development.

War Authorization on a Silver Platter: The “Authority for the Use of Military Force 2018” (AUMF), A “Forever Vote” Is on the Move

The AUMF 2018 would replace AUMF’s 2001 and 2002 which proponents suggest would remove the onerous Constitutional responsibility from a self-proclaimed over-burdened Congress from voting to approve every single separate act of war. While final approval of the AUMF 2018 represents a “Forever Vote,” product of a low vibration consciousness, the ACLU, which should be leading a vigorous national campaign against the proposal, appears absent from the debate.

Approval of a one-size-fits-all AUMF will greatly facilitate the Pentagon’s long held desire to ‘take out’ seven countries in five years – although somewhat behind the original timeline, military conflict is ongoing throughout the Middle East and will allow dramatic escalation in each of those countries without meaningful accountability or Constitutional Congressional oversight.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It didn't take long for me, in my perspective about the Vietnam War, where many of my college mates were drafted into fighting it, and a number of them didn't return, other than in a cheap, aluminum coffin, or returned with PTSD, to realize that there was one thing Karl Marx had said, which made absolute sense; all wars are economic in origin.

At the moment, our troops are fighting and dying for contol over all the oil in the Middle East, and in what currency that oil will be sold; it is just that simple.

Yes, we can wrap these wars in a pretty, red, white, and blue flag, and talk about honor, glory, and protecting the "American Way of Life" (or what passes for it in the Unhinged, Surveilled State of WarMerica); but at the end of the day, as it has been for all the years in which wars have been fought, won, or lost, it is about control of resources, and control of the money in which those resources can be purchased.

IF Congress is unwilling to do its duty, by declaring war, or preventing it, as Constitutionally required, then every single alleged representative should be SACKED in the midterms, and replaced with someone who understands their responsibility here.

3 die of wounds in Gaza, rallies death toll up to 114: medics

Three Palestinians died Saturday of their wounds sustained during May 14 clashes with Israeli soldiers near the border, medics said, making the rallies' death toll increase to 114.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of Gaza health ministry, said around 12,000 were injured and some 50 are still in critical conditions.

The Palestinian side accused Israel army in an official press statement of using ammunitions that are internationally forbidden.

The rallies, which started on March 30 in the Gaza Strip, are demanding the world's recognition of Palestinians' right of return and the lifting of a 11-year blockade on the Gaza Strip by Israel.

More reasons to be worried about cancer-causing chemicals on military bases

As children at Patrick Air Force Base in the early 1980s, Kristen Emery and her siblings fished Florida’s Banana River and strung their catch on the back porch to eat. They dug up the backyard, muddying their hands. When they were thirsty, they drank tap water at their base housing.

Kristen’s nose bled all the time. She was in and out of the emergency room constantly with asthma or other illnesses from kindergarten through second grade.

“They just thought I was a sick kid,” Emery, now 41, says.

When puberty hit at 13, a large mass grew on her neck. The diagnosis was terrifying: Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She spent her teenage years in chemotherapy.

Then they found a tumor on her brother. A trip to the Mayo Clinic found it to be benign.

Israel, US Try to Block International Force for Gaza Strip

A draft resolution backed by Kuwait and by the Palestinian Authority is headed to the UN Security Council this week, seeking the creation of an international force in the Gaza Strip to prevent further Israeli attacks on the area.

The Security Council resolution likely will have a majority of votes, but the US has signaled that they will veto it. Both the US and Israel are feverishly working to try to kill any support for the resolution. Israeli envoy Danny Danon claims the resolution would be a violation of Israel’s sovereignty, and amounts to a support of war crimes.

The draft is unlikely to die in the Security Council, however, with Palestinian officials saying they intend to advance the matter to the UN General Assembly after a US veto. A General Assembly vote would be non-binding, but still significant.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, for all practical intents and purposes, the fate of the Palestinian people may well be sealed; to remain 2nd class citizens, even if they do hold Israeli citizenship and passports, and continue to get gradually marginalized and relegated to the worst areas of Gaza and the West Bank.

Very few of Israel's neighbors will take them in as refugees, and the living conditions at those camps are utterly appalling.

Taking in refugees gives Israel more control of the lands in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, so host countries understand that even though it would be life-saving for many of these potential refugees, not taking them in puts greater focus on how Israel treats Palestinians.

The the Israeli government and its IDF will never allow an international force to protect Gazan Palestinians, and will continue to do everything in their power to prevent it.

US approves $45mn sale of 3,200 bombs & bunker busters to Bahrain

The US has cleared the sale of 3,200 bombs valued at about $45 million, including powerful bunker busters, to Bahrain. The Persian Gulf monarchy is hosting the US 5th Fleet and has been involved in the Saudi-led bombing of Yemen.
The order would consist of 1,500 Mark-82 general purpose bombs; 600 Mark-83 bombs; 600 Mark-84 bombs; and 500 BLU-109 “bunker busters,” bombs armed with special warheads designed to penetrate hardened targets, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on Friday.

The ordnance is intended for Bahrain’s US-made F-16 combat jets, and would come directly from US government stocks. Bahrain “will use these munitions as a deterrent to regional threats, strengthen its homeland defense, and execute counter-terrorism operations,” the agency said, as well as “operate with US-led and US-supported coalition operations.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a double Picard face-palm, at warp speed, upon reading this article.

These bombs will be most likely used both against peaceful Shiite protestors in Bahrain, who are simply asking for a constitutional monarchy, and against the Yemeni people, like the young Yemeni child in the image below, holding on desperately to his dead father, and refusing to let him go.(warning: very graphic)

The Boy who should be the face of the horrors of the Saudi-led, Bahraini and US-enabled war in Yemen, courtesy of Ruptly

Doesn't this just make you SO proud to be... a WarMerican?!?

The RT article, by Alexandre Antonov, goes on to state:

"Photos and footage were taken after the bombing, which happened in a remote village in the northwestern province of Hajjah. Appearing to be aged seven or eight, the boy tightly grasps the body of a man, grabbing his shirt and repeating “no, no, no” as rescuers try to take him away. People on the ground told Ruptly the boy insisted his killed father was just sleeping, and would soon wake up and take him to their home village not far from the one that was bombed.

Here is a little prediction. This boy will not feature at prime time in the mainstream media, regardless of how heart-wrenching are his little figure and fruitless defiance. No well-paid anchor with perfect make-up will say in a tearful voice how she cannot look at him. No correspondent will confront the Saudi foreign minister, showing him the pictures, saying: “This is a war crime, sir.” At the UN Security Council, his tragedy will not be used to denounce a criminal regime, killing civilians with impunity."

It is for this reason, that I am asking all of our friends in the independent media who have blogs both nationally and internationally, to credit both the story, written by Mr. Antonov of RT, and this image, by Ruptly, copy this story, and this image, and bump it to the top of their websites; America is colluding in these horrific war crimes in Yemen with both Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, and it is high time that a very peaceful, and very public public conversation about this, happens in this country.

And to both Mr. Antonov and Ruptly, thank you for pulling the curtain back and revealing the horrendous consequences of this Saudi-generated, and US and Bahraini-enabled war against the Yemeni people.

Even a new version of the Air Force’s JSTARS battlefield management and control aircraft would be vulnerable to being shot out of the sky during the opening salvo of a conflict with Russia or China, Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson told lawmakers Thursday.

Did Putin Just Ask For Iran's Exit From Syria In Meeting With Assad?

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad paid an unannounced visit to Vladimir Putin on Thursday evening at the Russian president's summer home in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi where the two leaders discussed the process for winding down the war in Syria, and notably the reduction of foreign troop presence in the country.

This marks the third such known meeting inside Russia between Assad and President Putin since 2015, and the first since two major instances of external airstrikes on the Syrian government dramatically escalated the prospect for broader war. The first was the April 13th US-led coalition attack involving over one hundred missiles on sites in and around Damascus; and the second was the May 10 Israeli attack on dozens of targets inside Syria in what was the biggest military escalation between the two countries in decades.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is imminently possible that Putin made this suggestion to Al Assad, as a way to attempt to prevent further Israeli bombing attacks against Syria; unfortunately, however, even if Iran withdraws its military advisors, or troops here, this will be no guarantee that Israel will not continue to bomb Syria, to insure that it remains the captor of Syria's Golan Heights, won militarily in 1967, and from which Israel is illegally selling oil contracts.

US LAYS OUT 12 DEMANDS FOR A NEW NUCLEAR DEAL WITH IRAN

The Trump administration escalated its demands on Iran on Monday while giving Tehran a possible loophole if it wants the US to return to the nuclear deal which President Trump unilaterally cancelled last month, laying out a list of demands that Iran has to satisfy for the deal to be restored, including a stop to all uranium enrichment and halt to Iran's support for militant groups in the region.

The administration’s demands were outlined in a speech by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, which for the first time spelled out all of the administration’s requirements for a new agreement. Pompeo laid out an onerous list of 12 "basic requirements" on Iran which toughened the nuclear demands and called for a wholesale change to Iran’s military posture in the region, that he says should be included.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Pompeo has laid out, in these demands, are all the reasons Iran will absolutely not agree to them, setting the stage for an Israeli-desired, US-directed war against it, which is the basic premise for these demands being raised.

This has been the consummate wet dream of the Israeli government for some time now; legitimizing the US government's military attack against Iran, which may well mean war with Russia, as Russian military and civilian leadership have frequently promised Iranian leadership would happen, in the event of an attack against it.

But what people in this country have got to understand, is that Israel expects this war to be waged only at the costs of American blood and American money. Should such a war happen, look for the reinstitution of the draft in this country, and this time, it will be coming not only for our young men, but also our young women as well.

Right now, the Israeli government believes it can talk President Trump into anything that feeds his ego, and his ability to be flattered into making bone-headed decisions, like the one signing off on these 12 demands, or the moving to the US consulate from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, is huge.

And although there is no timetable at this moment, for Iran's acquiesence to these demands, it is only a question of time before there is an "or else" deadline tacked on to them.

What this ultimatum will accomplish, will be to push Iran closer to Russia, China, and Europe; and the fact that neither Trump nor Pompeo understands this, does not bode well for peace in the region at all.

Army veteran jailed over 'sinister' anti-Jewish speech

A far-right activist has been jailed for stirring up racial hatred after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) initially declined to prosecute him. Jeremy Bedford-Turner, 48, of Lincoln, called for his "soldiers" to liberate England from "Jewish control" in a speech at London's Cenotaph in 2015. The Army veteran was handed a year-long jail term at Southwark Crown Court ... Sentencing Bedford-Turner, of Rudgard Lane, Judge David Tomlinson described his 15-minute speech as "poisonous" and "sinister". In the speech, which was made at a rally against a Jewish neighbourhood watch group on 4 July, Bedford-Turner said "let's free England from Jewish control. Let's liberate this land" ... Bedford-Turner, who speaks Pashtu and Arabic, bowed and saluted about 35 supporters who gave him a standing ovation as he was led to the cells.
Note:It is impossible to overstate the control of Jewish, Zionist, Israeli influence in world and local control.

China Resists Trump Deficit Demand, Agrees To Buy More US Goods

Beijing had offered to reduce the US trade deficit by "at least $200 billion" - on Friday the U.S. and China wrapped up the second day of trade talks, and while Beijing made a vague, unenforceable commitment to buy more U.S. goods and services, it resisted Trump's core demand that it cut by more than half the $375BN bilateral trade deficit.

According to the WSJ, while the Chinese were wary of committing to specific purchases - even though Kudlow also said China would buy more farm products, energy and financial services - they continue to look for a way to ease trade tensions between the two nations even if it means with token promises and gestures.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am sincerely hoping that both countries can back away from the precipice here, because it is very uncomfortable to understand how quickly trade wars can be preludes to shooting wars.

FACEBOOK ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH THINK TANK CONNECTED TO NATO, MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Facebook has announced a new partnership with the Atlantic Council, a think tank with close ties to the Military Industrial Complex and Defense Department.

On Thursday Facebook announced a new partnership with the Atlantic Council, a think tank which officially claims to provide a forum for international political, business, and intellectual leaders. The social media giant said the partnership is aimed at preventing Facebook from “being abused during elections.” The press release promotes Facebook’s efforts to fight fake news by using artificial intelligence, as well as working with outside experts and governments.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If there was EVER a reason to run, not walk from, Facebook, it is this moment, in its evolution, to abandon it permanently.

An Empire Of Nothing At All - A Staggeringly Well-Funded Blowback Machine

As I was putting the finishing touches on my new book, the Costs of War Project at Brown University’s Watson Institute published an estimate of the taxpayer dollars that will have gone into America’s war on terror from September 12, 2001, through fiscal year 2018. That figure: a cool $5.6 trillion (including the future costs of caring for our war vets). On average, that’s at least $23,386 per taxpayer.

In reality, the costs of America’s wars, still spreading in the Trump era, are incalculable. Just look at photos of the cities of Ramadi or Mosul in Iraq, Raqqa or Aleppo in Syria, Sirte in Libya, or Marawi in the southern Philippines, all in ruins in the wake of the conflicts Washington set off in the post–9/11 years, and try to put a price on them. Those views of mile upon mile of rubble, often without a building still standing untouched, should take anyone’s breath away. Some of those cities may never be fully rebuilt.

Republicans’ Apocalyptic Fantasies Are Now Playing Out in the Middle East

ore than 20 people in Gaza were dead on Monday before anyone in Washington had had their breakfast. This was pitched to the awakening nation as a series of “deadly clashes,” even though the deadly part only applied to one side. It was a great start to a day in which the president*, who doesn’t know anything about anything, prepared to toss a lighted match into a lagoon of gasoline in the Middle East.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This genocidal behaviour on the part of the IDF toward the Palestinians, encouraged and abetted by President Trump's acquiescence to the movement of the American embassy to Tel Aviv, coupled with the end-times insanities of Jeffress and Hagee (which are very dubious, in terms of both Biblical origins and interpretations), and the rabidly wretched racisim of Israeli Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, paints a very ugly picture of 21st century Israel.

The author of this article's likening of what Trump has done here, geopolitically, as being akin to tossing a lighted match into a lagoon of gasoline in the Middle East, is a very adept analysis.

People in the Middle East do not dislike us "For our freedoms", as the war criminal President Bush famously used to love to say; they dislike us because US foreign policy in the region has been completely oursourced to Israel, and Americans have been forced to live with those negative consequences of that Israeli-outsourced foreign policy for far too many years.

That foreign policy led to war with Iraq; it may well lead to a war against Hezbullah in Lebanon; a continuing war against Syria; and a war against Iran. And trust me on this; Tel Aviv wants those wars outsourced to the US military to fight,, but only at the costs borne in American blood, and American money.

The only political leader I am seeing as the adult in the room on these issues of stopping further wars in the region, will be Russia's President Putin; but even he may not be able to stop what I am seeing as the American rush to war in the Middle East, again, to control their pipelines, and in what currencies their oil will be sold.

Trump Hits North Korea With Barrage of Mixed Signals: Trump dismissed 'Libya Model,' threatens Kim with Gadhafi's fate

The Trump Administration appears determine to respond to North Korea’s recent concerns about war games near their border ahead of the June 12 summit. It doesn’t seem that officials are entirely clear what North Korea wants to hear, however, so they’re trying pretty much everything.

President Trump in particular is throwing every combination of threats and incentives he can think of at North Korea, attempting to disavow the “Libya Model” talked of by John Bolton, while at the same time threatening to see Kim Jong-un end up dead like Libya’s Gadhafi if he doesn’t capitulate.

North Korea objects to the Libya Model primarily because of its consequences. Gadhafi agreed to give up his WMD equipment in 2003, in return for improved diplomatic ties. This never really panned out, however, and by 2011, NATO attacked Libya, helping rebels to ultimately capture and kill Gadhafi.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When I heard that President Trump had made these completely contradictory statements yesterday, I had an industrial strength Picard double-face palm, at velocity.

As I have said many times on this blog, just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing an American government official could say, or do, is absolutely no guarantee that they won't do it; such it was with President Trump's statement about the potential for the "Libyan Option" with North Korea.

While acknowledging that President Trump is a very astute businessman, there are moments, in his role as President, when he comes off as a rather "blunt instrument.", and yesterday was, truly, one of those terror-inducing moments when he did just that.

These mixed messages have absolutey no place in any negotiating process internationally, period, end of discussion; so now, what we have is the potential for the Singapore summit between Trump and Kim Jung Un potentially cancelled, and primarily due to US governmental stupidity.

And the other issue which deserves scrutiny, is why the South Korean and the US military went ahead with these exercises, right before the negotiations, in a move they knew was going to tick Kim Jung Un off, because he believes every exercise like this is a practice run for an invasion of North Korea?!?

Everyone knowledgeable about Kim Jung Un's thinking could have predicted this, which begs the question; was this the outcome most of DC wanted, the scuttling of these talks, which would have been potentially huge, and a way to have stopped a potential war sabotaged?!?

Fighting Displaces Tens of Thousands of Yemenis Near Key Houthi Port

Tens of thousands of civilians have been displaced from Yemen’s coastal province of Hodeidah, as pro-Saudi forces invaded the area with an eye toward eventually seizing the last port held by Shi’ite Houthi forces.

The civilians say they were facing terrifying mortar attacks, with rockets flying overhead and landmines ripping people to shreds. Amnesty International is reporting that the worst is yet to come, however, for the entire nation, as this offensive worsens.

That’s because as the last Houthi port, Hodeidah is the lone source of humanitarian aid for roughly half of the country. That makes it a “strategic target,” but the fall of the port also means that half of the country, the half already on the brink of starvation and recovering from a record large cholera epidemic, will be under even tighter siege.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The continuing Saudi genocide in Yemen, aided and abetted by US military forces, has to be one of the worst "silent screams" of the 21st century.

And I say this, because not one of the presstitute corporate US media is covering any of this; you have to go to the independent media, like WRH, to get any word of what is happening on the ground. Because of this, as a Christian Pacifist Activist, I will continue to cover this horror just as long as it continues. And here are some images (very disturbing) of what is being done, and enabled by US troops, in collusion with Saudi troops, in your name, and with your tax dollars, in Yemen:

At least 20 killed as Saudi airstrike hits Yemeni wedding

Saudi Led coalition killed 68 children in Yemen

Images: Yemeni children getting maimed and killed by Saudi bombing runs

Saudi Bombing Is Said to Kill Yemeni Civilians Seeking Relief From the Heat

Seen enough?!? Doesn't it make you feel PROUD to be a Warmerkian?!?!

Because people, if we are not part of a peaceful public dialogue to at least get the US government to withdraw its military and financial aid to this slaughter, we are part of the problem.

Please share these images with your Congressional Representatives, and ask them what they intend to to to stop this genocide. Be polite, but firm. Because if they know that the issue of US war crimes in Yemen is going to be an election-preventer in the coming mid-term elections, it just might cause them to speak up, speak out and at least end the US government's involvement in Yemen.

The US must secure its supply chain in the face of anti-satellite weapons

At the 34th National Space Symposium in April, U.S. Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson announced that the service is taking steps to secure its satellite networks by working with allied forces, commercial satellite owners and international organizations to share satellites currently in orbit.

Testifying before Congress, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats warned that U.S. adversaries “continue to pursue anti-satellite [ASAT] weapons as a means to reduce U.S. and allied military effectiveness.” While the threat is serious and sharing allied satellites provides a measure of security, the Air Force will not be able to preserve America’s edge in space unless it focuses on securing the satellite supply chain here on Earth.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More money for that supply chain, and the US also has ASAT weapons.

Donald Trump warns Nato members will be ‘dealt with’ if they refuse to pay more for military alliance

Donald Trump singled out Germany in renewing his criticism of Nato members he accuses of not contributing enough, saying laggards would be “dealt with”.

Germany “has not contributed what it should be contributing and it’s a very big beneficiary”, said the president, who has long had a frosty relationship with the German chancellor, Angela Merkel.

"FUCK TURKEY": NETANYAHU SON'S MESSAGE TO ANKARA OVER GAZA MASSACRE

"Fuck Turkey."
That was the message the Israeli prime minister's son gave to the world, as a state-level row with Ankara over Israel's killing of 62 Palestinians on Monday descended into the bawdiest of insults.

Yair Netanyahu posted the message on Instagram on Wednesday, as Israel and Turkey expelled each other's top diplomats after Ankara's condemnation of Israel's live-fire tactics against Gaza protesters.

Benjamin Netanyahu's son included the message in an image similar to the Turkish flag, which has a red background and white star and crescent moon in the centre. The image showed the words “Fuck Turkey” with the crescent moon in place of the letter ‘c’.

— Amichai Stein (@AmichaiStein1) May 16, 2018

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder; is this kind of heubristic apartheid on the part of Netanyahu's son, inherited in the DNA, or is it carefully taught?!?

I am recalling the lyrics of a song, written many years ago, by Rogers and Hammerstein, from a show called "South Pacific", talking about prejudice.

And if you are my age (I just turned 69), you might recall your mom or dad making a pilgrimage to the local grocery store, and coming home, triumphantly with a big round thing, called a "record", which one would play on a record player, and I would love the opportunity to learn all the songs from a current Broadway show.

And a couple of lines I remember most vividly from this show are as follows are:

"You've got to be taught
Before it's... to late!
Before you are six... or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!!"

But then, what is to be expected from the son of a Prime Minister in a wretchedly apartheid, self-proclaimed theocracy with nuclear weapons?!?!

Unfortunately and very sadly, what he just posted on instagram, is perfectly predictable, under the circumstances.

SPECIAL OPS GETTING 1000S OF SMALL GLIDE MUNITIONS THAT PACK A BIGGER PUNCH THAN HELLFIRES

As global counterterrorism operations show no signs of slowing down, U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) are receivingthousands of light, gliding missiles that are smaller and more powerful than an AGM-114 Hellfire and fired from a Lockheed C-130 Hercules above the modern battlefield.

In recent years, insurgent groups have outsmarted American precision-guided weapons launched from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with fast traveling vehicles. However, a new powerful gliding munition can chase down and destroy these fast-moving targets.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This shift in weapons used by Special Ops, simply manifests the grim reality that the US government and military is going to be at war against those countries whose resources they want to expropriate, to which the US government has utterly no moral right, and define in what currencies they will be sold, perpetually.

The Ruinously Expensive American Military

America’s Republican politicians complain that “entitlements,” by which they mean pensions and medical care, are leading the country to bankruptcy even as they fatten the spending on the Pentagon, which now takes 12 percent of the overall budget. And it should be noted that while workers contribute to the social programs during all their years of employment, the money that goes to the military comes straight out of the pockets of taxpayers before being wasted in ways that scarcely benefit the average citizen unless one seriously thinks that folks over in Syria, Iran and Afghanistan actually do threaten the survival of the United States of America.

“Greater Israel”: The Zionist Plan for the Middle East

President Donald Trump has confirmed in no uncertain terms, his support of Israel’s illegal settlements (including his opposition to UN Security Council Resolution 2334, pertaining to the illegality of the Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank).

Moreover, by moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and allowing for the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories and beyond, the US president has provided a de facto endorsement of the “Greater Israel” project as formulated under the Yinon Plan.

Bear in mind: this design is not strictly a Zionist Project for the Middle East, it is an integral part of US foreign policy, namely Washington’s intent to fracture and balkanize the Middle East. Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is intended to trigger political instability throughout the region.

Senate Panel Endorses Gina Haspel, Despite Her Facilitation of Torture

The Senate Intelligence Committee voted 10-5 to support Gina Haspel’s nomination today, despite the fact that her facilitation of torture should disqualify her from assuming the role of CIA director.

Next the full Senate will make a final decision on Haspel’s nomination in a vote that is expected to take place next week but could occur as early as tomorrow.

In her testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on May 9, Haspel insisted that the CIA’s interrogation program during the Bush administration was legal. Haspel, a 33-year CIA veteran, argued that it could not be determined whether torture was effective to gain intelligence. She refused to state categorically that torture is immoral. And she never condemned the torture program in which she participated.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Haspel wins the nomination of the Senate on this appointment, consider the international rules of law having completely thrown out by the Trump Administration. We will then witness more continuous US-led wars for resources, to which this country has absolutely no moral right, and the return to the draft, both for our young men... and young women.

And with that will come more waterboarding, and more torture, and more abuses both at home and abroad.

Is love or politics behind Putin’s promotion of Chabad?

JTA — When even Russian policemen had to pass security checks to enter the Sochi Winter Olympics, Rabbi Berel Lazar was waved in without ever showing his ID.

Lazar, a Chabad-affiliated chief rabbi of Russia, was invited to the opening ceremony of the games last month by President Vladimir Putin’s office. But since the event was on Shabbat, Lazar initially declined the invitation, explaining he was prevented from carrying documents, among other religious restrictions.

So Putin ordered his staff to prepare an alternative entrance and security-free route just for the rabbi, according to one of Lazar’s top associates, Rabbi Boruch Gorin.

Weak-Kneed Russian Response to US Jerusalem Embassy Opening

Putin just loves Israel!
Trump’s moving of Washington’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, an international city, demands universal condemnation.

Not from Russia, notably not after Putin shamefully welcomed Ziofascist Netanyahu as an honored guest in Moscow for the 73rd Great Patriotic War triumph commemoration.

On Monday while Israeli soldiers were massacring Gazans, Russia failed to condemn it – nor Great Friday March of Return Friday mass-killings since March 30, nor moving Washington’s Israeli embassy to Jerusalem.

Palestinians are isolated on their own, struggling valiantly against a ruthless occupier, committing high crimes with impunity because the world community fails to stop them.

Commissioner: EU Willing to Block US Sanctions on Iran

EU Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulus has conformed on Wednesday that the EU is fully prepared to pass legislation to block US sanctions targeting Iran. The US has threatened to punish EU-based companies for doing business with Iran, despite the P5+1 nuclear deal, which European nations are a party to, obliging sanctions relief.

Iran has warned that staying in the deal hinges on the remaining signatories ensuring that Iran’s sanctions relief still happens despite the US withdrawing from the pact. Already, two major companies, France’s Total S.A. and Germany’s Siemens, have suggested that barring EU legislation, they’re going to stop deals with Iran out of fear of US retaliation.

Avramopoulos indicated that the legislation being considered by the EU would be straight-forward, outright making it illegal for EU companies to comply with US sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program. Other EU officials have hinted at other measures to support Iran economically.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looks like one of President Trump's unintended consequences from walking away from the P5+1 deal, will be an economic war with Europe over Iran.

I am quite sure Russia's Putin saw this coming, and is just laughing himself silly, at how ridiculous a move this was for President Trump, at a time when the last thing he needs is a trade war with Europe over Iran.

US Watchdog: Pentagon Gave Wrong Numbers on Afghan Troop Levels

The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has offered an updated report on the shrinking Afghan military, revealing that their previous report was in error. The previous report, released earlier this month, said the Afghan military had lost around 30,000 fighters, or 10%.

SIGAR now says that the actual number was only about half that. The Pentagon, which provided SIGAR with the data, accidentally forgot about a 17,000-man border patrol that had been transferred from the police to the army, and which didn’t end up in the previous report under either category.

Lt. Col. Martin O’Donnell, from the US-led Afghan mission, confirmed his office was behind the problem and “it was our bad.” SIGAR noted this was just the latest in a series of problems they’ve had getting reliable data out of the Pentagon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Pentagon is not terribly interested in providing accurate numbers for Afghanistan; and why would that be?!?

Because the situation on the ground has not become any less dire for our troops than they have in the last 16 years of this abominiable war?!?

IF the US and NATO leadership had a braincell to share between then, they would evacuate those troops as quickly as would be safely possible, and negotiate with whatever government was left standing in Kabul about the rights to the minerals, oil pipelines, and opium, a trade which has burgeoned under US/NATO occupation.

Of course, that... would be logical.

Netanyahu: “Let’s You and Him Fight”: Brandishing the American Military

Why did the Cockatoo-in-Chief renege on the Iran deal deeply prized by Russia, China, France, Germany, England, and the European Union? Why did he deliberately damage relations with Europe and cost American workers many thousands of jobs at Boeing among others? Why do all of this to hurt a country that poses no danger to the United States?

Israel.

Always Israel.

If Iran were a threat to the existence of Israel, things would be different. If Muslims conquered the Jews, they would presumably treat them as badly as Israelis ,and very likely worse. It would be ugly in the extreme. To prevent this, use of the American military would be justified.

But Iran does not threaten the existence of Israel. It does threaten Israel’s dominance in the Mid-East.

North Korea Livid as Trump Administration Suggests ‘Libya Model’ for Denuclearization

There aren’t really examples of nations with substantial nuclear arsenals giving them up as part of a broad negotiated settlement and it working out. North Korea’s denuclearization, then, is very much uncharted territory. The Trump Administration, however, insists on drawing parallels to Libya.

National Security Adviser John Bolton in particular is trying to draw this comparison, even though there are obvious, dramatic differences between the two situations. North Korea is also furious about the Trump Administration’s talk of Libya, and it’s not hard to see why.

Libya never had functional nuclear weapons, and gave up its equipment in 2003 in hopes of ending its international isolation and reforming its image. North Korea’s interest in diplomatic engagement is one commonality, but makes it a particularly poor example, as Libya never really enjoyed much of a reward.

Washington Examiner Promotes and Encourages Terrorism Against Russia

This week, a bridge across the Kerch Strait linking the Taman Peninsula with the Crimea Peninsula opened to road traffic. For over a century there were discussions about building such a bridge, but it was only in 2015 that construction finally began. The opening ceremony on the 15th of May was attended by numerous dignitaries including the Russian President who drove a large truck across the bridge in a maiden journey across the new structure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder if John Bolton was whispering into Tom Rogan's ear, saying "Go ahead; it is just fine for you to be advocating terror against Crimea, because it did, as it had the power to do, under the Charter of the United Nations, exersize its right to peaceful self-determination by removing itself from Ukraine, after the coup in 2014, and petition the Russian Federation to join it, a petition which the Russian Federation accepted."

The one thing people need to remember here, is that Crimea was never "annexed" by Russia; in a series of two peaceful, and fair and free referendums, Crimea decided to leave Ukraine, because of the putsch which put Poroshenko into power, and request an alliance with the Russian Federation.

Through this article, Rogan has revealed himself to be, in the most viciously vile, and public way possible, an agent of the American Deep State, which has never accepted Crimea's decision to peacefully leave Ukraine, and peacefully join the Russian Federation.

Annexation never happened.

Rogan and his ilk still believe that the big lie can still be put over on the American people,coupled with a call to physical violence against a part of Russia, but I would very much like to disabuse this man of that notion;
not after the Warmonger-in-Chief President Bush declared that "Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction." will Americans ever believe such a great lie, ever again.

Never mind that such violence would most probably spin out of control, into a war which the US military may not win, because it doesn't have the weaponry; the troop strength; the manufacturing, or the money, to ensure a positive outcome to such a war. Just this morning, the following article appeared in blacklisted news:

US intelligence over russia getting invincible weapon by 2020

I have rarely seen a more morally bankrupt opinion of what Crimea decided to do, post 2014 putsch, but this has to be at least one of the worst possible approaches to Crimea's self-directed reunion with Russia, that I have ever seen so far, of course coupled with NATO's perfectly predictable "big lie" about Crimea having been annexed, as it appeared in the Star of Lebanon blog today:

NATO CONDEMNS RUSSIAN BRIDGE TO MOSCOW THROUGH "ANNEXED" CRIMEA

And to NATO's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg; do you really believe you have to continue to carry America's water on this issue?!? Every thinking person in this world, sir KNOWS that this condemnation is premised on a lie!!

Putin: Russian cruise missile-armed ships to remain in Syrian waters to prevent terrorist comeback

Russia will keep its warships – armed with Kalibr cruise missiles – in the Mediterranean to thwart the possible re-emergence of terrorist groups in Syria, President Vladimir Putin said, hailing the navy’s operations overseas.
Russia’s standing naval task force, which includes warships equipped with Kalibr-class cruise missiles, will remain off Syrian shores on permanent deployment “given the persistent threat of terrorist incursions” in the country, Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

Russia’s naval presence in the Mediterranean has become a game-changer in combatting terrorism in Syria, Putin said, adding that “missile strikes as well as efficient action by our naval aircraft inflicted serious damage to terrorists.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

What was not said, but loudly telegraphed in this statement, is that Russia will not permit the return of US-sponsored, funded, and armed terrorist groups to Syria.

BRANDON SMITH: GLOBAL ELITISTS ARE NOT HUMAN

It is often said that “other-izing” people overall can be dangerous and other-izing your enemies specifically can be tactically detrimental. For one, it can lead to a false sense of superiority over those people as you assert some kind of imagined genetic advantage. It can also lead to dangerous generalizations of vast groups as you categorize and pigeonhole millions as being exactly the same when this is rationally impossible. However, other-izing is perhaps the only option when faced with a very particular type of person embracing a very particular brand of ideology; other-izing can become a matter of survival.

I am of course talking about globalists.

HYPERSONIC GLIDER: US INTELLIGENCE IN PANIC MODE OVER RUSSIA GETTING INVINCIBLE WEAPON ‘BY 2020’

Russia’s state-of-the-art hypersonic glide vehicle, which analysts say is capable of easily cutting through the existing US missile shield, will become operational by 2020, reports citing US intelligence have warned.
Speaking to CNBC on the condition of anonymity, sources aware of US intelligence reports, said the Russian military successfully tested the weapon twice in 2016. The third known test of the weapon was allegedly carried out in October 2017, and allegedly failed when the device crashed seconds before hitting its target.

The sources believe the device would be a significant breakthrough which could enable Russian military to surpass US counterparts. The intelligence sources claimed that the hypersonic gliders will get onboard countermeasures to enable them to defeat even the most advanced missile-defense systems.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question General Hyten should be asking, is not why the Russians have this technology, but why, with all the money spent on the military/industrial complex, for their weapons, the US military does not?!?

And why the veiled beg for more money for this industry, when the money they do get is so thoroughly, and completely wasted, with absolutely zero financial oversite of how the money gets spent?!?

Well, let's start with the collective corporate culture of our weapons manufacturers. Because all of these companies contribute so heavily to Presidential political campaigns, those executives at the very top believe that it is perfectly fine to deliver already outmoded weapons, at huge cost overruns, when they may well be obsolete upon delivery, and do not function at all as advertised.

That has to change, and there should be laws to change it, preventing this industry, so critical to America's maintaining a large technological and military edge, from contributing one penny to any Presidential campaign, to sway contracts their way.

The second thing which has to be legally codified, is that when defense contractors don't deliver, on time, within budget, equipment which actually works, there needs to be a personal cost to the executives who sign off on these practices, and instead of fines, there should be hard jail time served, for so betraying our men and women in uniform, by that lack of technological expertise and military edge.

As those of you know, I am a Christian pacifist activist, who abhors the use of war by this country to resolve its geopolitical differences. However, that being said, when our military out in the field are deployed, I want them to have the best of the best of the best, when it comes to weaponry, and they are certainly not getting it now, courtesy of the culture of the military industrial complex.

US Envoy to UK: London Should Spend More on F-35s, Less on Healthcare, Education

Ambassador Woody Johnson's aggressive pitch to Washington's ally across the pond seemed aimed at pressuring the island nation to buy more of America's new fifth-gen fighter jets.

Speaking to reporters at the US embassy in London, the envoy urged the UK to do better on defense, even at the expense of other government spending.

"Healthcare is always going to be an issue; education is always going to be an issue; transportation and infrastructure are always going to be issues, etc. But how important is it to defend yourself?" Johnson asked.

Pro-Saudi Forces Announce Start of Offensive Against Last Yemeni Rebel Port

Pro-Saudi forces have announced Monday that the “large-scale military operations” against the northern port city of Hodeidah have begun, and that forces intend to continue advancing north until “victory” is achieved.

Hodeidah is the lone seaport under the control of the Shi’ite Houthi movement, and by extension is the only port through which humanitarian aid can flow for the entire northern half of the country. A vital humanitarian location, which to pro-Saudi forces is a vital military target.

Successfully conquering Hodeidah would, after all, mean the Houthi territory, including the capital city and many millions of people, would have no access to food or medical aid. This would be an opportunity for the Saudi invading force to really crack down on them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is apparent that the B.O.Y. (the Butcher of Yemen, AKA Saudi Prince Bin Salman) and his accomplice in these war crimes, President Trump, do not give a damn about the staggering number of people this military operation will kill, through starvation and disease, now that food and medical aid will stop arriving in Yemen.

And where are the US corporate presstitutes on this?!?

No where at all. This is simply not to be spoken of, in any way whatsoever, lest the American peole actually get the notion that their government is routinely complicit in war crimes, this association with the Saudis in Yemen being one of the worst in recent history.

Putin’s stock rises as 'go-to' mediator between Israel, Iran

Russian diplomacy shifts into high gear

Following the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Russian President Vladimir Putin may be the best bet, or last man standing, to offer a diplomatic off-ramp for Israel and Iran to avoid war.

Two weeks ago, this column observed that Russia might be well-placed as a potential mediator between Iran and Israel, a trend Al-Monitor has followed for over four years. That role places Putin on a tightrope balancing Russia’s all-in support for the Syrian government, while facing the limits of Moscow’s uneasy but vital relationships with both Iran and Israel and reckoning with a continued slide in US-Russia relations. The regional picture is additionally complicated by the US decision to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem, the Palestinian demonstrations in the Gaza Strip, the absence of an Israeli-Palestinian diplomatic track and Hezbollah’s win in Lebanon’s elections.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As could have been predicted, President Putin is a zillion chess moves ahead of both President Trump and the West on this issue, and is doing everything in his power to prevent a regional war, which could, potentially, go nuclear.

A DOZEN GOOGLERS QUIT OVER GOOGLE'S MILITARY DRONE CONTRACT

Google's "Project Maven" is supplying machine-learning tools to the Pentagon to support drone strikes; the project has been hugely divisive within Google, with employees pointing out that the company is wildly profitable and doesn't need to compromise on its ethics to keep its doors open; that the drone program is a system of extrajudicial killing far from the battlefield; and that the firm's long-term health depends on its ability to win and retain the trust of users around the world, which will be harder if Google becomes a de facto wing of the US military.

A dozen googlers have put their money where their mouths are, publicly resigning over the contract; 4,000 more googlers have signed an open letter to the company's CEO asking him to cancel the contract.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Google's reputation is already in tatters; looking at what it has done with its data, and the algorithms it uses to suppress certain ways of looking at issues, it is obvious that its leadership has the morals of a dead tree stump (and trust me, I WILL get letters from dead tree stumps on this!!)

A dozen Google employees quit over military drone project

Despite protests from employees, Google is still charging ahead with a Department of Defense collaboration to produce machine-learning software for drones. Google hasn't listened to a contingent of its employees that is unhappy with Google's involvement in the military-industrial complex, and now a report from Gizmodo says "about a dozen" employees have resigned over the issue.

The controversial program, called "Project Maven," sees Google applying its usual machine-learning and image-recognition expertise to millions of hours of drone footage collected by the military. The goal is to identify people and objects of interest. While a Google spokesperson says the program is "scoped for non-offensive purposes," a letter signed by almost 4,000 Google employees took issue with this assurance, saying, "The technology is being built for the military, and once it's delivered, it could easily be used to assist in [lethal] tasks."

America Spends About Half of World’s Military Expenditures

The National Priorities Project headlines “U.S. Military Spending vs. the World” and reports: “World military spending totaled more than $1.6 trillion in 2015. The U.S. accounted for 37 percent of the total.” But it can’t be believed, because, even if other nations aren’t under-reporting their military expenditures, the U.S. certainly is — under-reporting it by about 50%. The reality is approximately twice the official figure, so that America’s current annual military expenditures are around $1.5 trillion, which is to say, almost equal to that entire global estimate of “more than $1.6 trillion in 2015.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, if you were wondering where all your tax money goes ... now you know!

US, SWEDEN, AND FINLAND BOOST MILITARY COOPERATION TO FORM NEW ALLIANCE

The US, Swedish, and Finnish defense ministers signed a trilateral Statement of Intent (SOI) to expand defense cooperation on all fronts. The signing ceremony took place in Washington on May 8. In 2016, the two Scandinavian nations finalized separate defense SOIs with America. Now they have signed a joint document to unify those previous agreements and enhance their interoperability.

The Scandinavian visitors claimed this was just a starting point for a more mature relationship. The agreement emphasizes the countries’ combined joint exercises and streamlines the procedures that have been established to manage them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia... will not attack Sweden or Finland; this appears to be just a US military pre-positioning for a war against Russia, which would be the most him-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could possibly do.

Unfortunately, just because a political/military choice would be the most ham- fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing it could possibly do, is no guarantee that they will not do it; like, say, a US-led decap strike against Damascus or Iran.

TRUMP'S FAMILY APPLAUDS ZIONIST MASSACRE OF PALESTINIANS IN GAZA

At some settler event in the capital of Palestine Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, mentioned today's Gaza massacre in which Israeli soldiers murdered at least 52 and maimed 1,200 unarmed Palestinians. He accused them of being the guilty ones because they protest against the Zionist theft and occupation of their land:

"As we have seen from the protests of the last month and even today, those provoking violence are part of the problem and not part of the solution."
The White House omitted that sentence in its official transcript. In its daily press briefing the White House called the murder committed by the Zionist army "a propaganda attempt" by Hamas and Palestinians.

In response to today's massacre South Africa recalled its ambassador from Israel. It is so far the only country which did so. South Africa knows apartheid and colonial violence. It no longer condones it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Kushner is yet another wretched Israeli apologist, condemning the Palestinians for Israeli occupation, and who deeply wishes that Tel Aviv would be allowed to move forward with its own "Final Solution" against all Palestinians, which would be the elimination of every one of them from the face of this earth.

He does, however, appear to have the horse sense to understand, that the optics of such a move would make Israel even more of a pariah state on the international stage than it is already, if that is conceivably possible.

The U.S. Army Is Preparing to Send Anti-Aircraft Strykers to Europe

The U.S. Army is fast-tracking newly configured Stryker armored vehicles with helicopter and drone-killing weapons to counter Russia in Europe and provide more support to brigade combat teams. “We are looking for a rapid solution for the near-term fight,” Maj. Gen. John Ferarri told Warrior Maven in an interview.

The Strykers will fire a wide range of weapons to destroy close-in air threats attacking ground units, to potentially include Hellfire or Stinger missiles. The program, which plans to deploy its first vehicles to Europe by 2020, is part of an Army effort called Short-Range Air Defense or SHORAD.

Senior leaders say the service plans to build its first Stryker SHORAD prototype by 2019 as an step toward producing 144 initial systems.

US Navy to buy 7,000 rockets from UK arms maker

The US Navy has awarded British weapons manufacturer BAE Systems a $175 million contract to produce more than 7,000 laser-guided rockets.

Dubbed advanced precision kill weapon system (APKWS), the rockets are standard 2.75-inch (70-millimeter) missiles that have been transformed into precision munitions by installing a guidance kit between their warhead and engine compartments.

BAE Systems is ramping up production to build toward an annual level of more than 20,000 units, with officials noting that the US contract might be extended for 17,500 APKWS.

The company has reportedly began delivering the rockets and hopes to fulfill the contract ahead of schedule by coordinating production in facilities in New Hampshire and Texas as well as its supplier chain.

You Build A House. Israel Destroys It. You Raise A Child. Israel Kills Him.

The unambiguous absence of morality in the Israeli government is why Putin’s invitation to the greatest immoralist of them all, Netanyahu, to be an honored guest at the Russian celebration of victory over Germany in WW II has done such damage to Putin’s and Russia’s reputation. Russia fought the genocidal Nazis and now honors with presidential invitations the genocidal Netanyahu whose policy is genocide for the Palestinians. And for Syria. And for Iran.

Ocean's Monopoly: How Nations Use Science to Conquer the Sea

What if a country didn't end at the coastline but would simply continue under water? A territory the size of a continent would come up - a territory uncontrolled and open for seizure. But who owns the sea bed, is it territory still to be claimed?

The fact that the world's oceans cover three-quarters of the earth's surface once meant very little to governments around the world. This changed when water exploration teamed with demand for specific resources and the need for power.

The first scientific study of the ocean floor was undertaken by German survey vessel Meteor, which saw it conduct research on the Atlantic Ocean between 1925 and 1927. The information uncovered about the ocean bed changed how nations viewed their once complacent takes on the importance of the ocean - politically and otherwise.

America on its way to $30 trillion debt by 2028 as military expenditure soars

The mounting US debt is likely to grow by another $10 trillion in the next decade, according to estimates contained in the recent budget proposal.

According to the White House Office of Management and Budget, the national debt will hit $29.9 trillion by 2028. The deficit will be equal to 101 percent of America’s GDP, the Watchdog Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget forecasts. The country’s current debt stands at a record $20.6 trillion – its highest level since shortly after World War II.

If current laws stand, widening budget deficits will increase that debt sharply over the next 30 years, with the deficit reaching 150 percent of GDP in 2047, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) predicted last year.

Under the new budget, President Donald Trump is requesting a record $686 billion for the Pentagon – a 13-percent increase compared to the 2017 budget.

Serbian President Slams NATO Yugoslavia Bombing as More Kids Get Cancer

In 1999 NATO used ordnances containing depleted uranium in their bombardment of then-Yugoslavia in a bid to stop the killings of Albanians in Kosovo. According to Serbian data, they resulted in thousands killed and wounded civilians.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has slammed NATO's bombing campaign against then-Yugoslavia using munitions containing depleted uranium during the opening ceremony of the new Oncological Institute. According to him, Serbian doctors determined that such ordnances have severely affected the health of the country's young population.

"Today in the Oncological Institute I learned that more and more children are diagnosed with cancer in our country. I'll be honest, at first I didn't believe in the depleted uranium theories […] but today, after speaking with doctors, I realized that depleted uranium is among many of the factors that cause cancer during a young age," Vucic said.

‘You Are a Terror State’: Erdogan Says Israel Pushing Region Into War

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of using unnecessary aggression in Syria and blamed Tel Aviv for pushing the entire region toward full-scale war.

In an interview with BBC Arabic on Sunday, Erdogan said that Israel is "sowing fear and pushing" the Middle Eastern "region to war."

The Turkish leader also denounced an Israeli airstrike on Syria that took place three days ago, calling it an attack on the sovereignty of the beleaguered nation, now in its seventh year of civil war.

The Summer of War and Chaos: US-Israel Plan to Balkanize the Middle East

Tensions are at an all-time high in the Middle East as Israel launched more than sixty missiles at Syria because Israel claimed that Iranian forces fired rockets into the Golan Heights, an Israel-occupied territory since the 1967 Six-Day War.

ran responded to the Israeli claims in a Zero Hedge report:

In the aftermath of one of the most severe Israeli attacks on Syria “in decades,” Iranian lawmakers said Thursday that Iran had no role in the attack, and that Shia nation doesn’t operate any bases in Syria.

Mohammad Javad Jamali Nobandegani, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, said Israel’s claim that Iran had provoked Israel by firing first was “a lie,” adding that

“Israel’s history of carrying out unprovoked attacks in Syria has been well-documented.” “Iran does not have military base in Syria,” Nobandegani added

Webmaster's Commentary:

Trust me, Israel, enabled by the US government will continue to provoke and provide provocations against Iran, until Iran has no recourse but to fight back; at least, that is what Israeli government officials are hoping to attack.

So, one has to wonder; what will Russia do, if there are more attacks against Syria, with the ultimate goal of getting Iran to act militarily?!? I certainly hope that Russia's Vlad Putin has his chess moves in order here, because I think at the moment, he is the only world leader capable of preventing the Middle East from devolving into the chaos Netanyahu and Trump seem to so desperately want to see happen.
