US Adds Another $200 Million to Ukraine Military Aid

US officials say they will not accept any referendum in breakaway Eastern Ukraine about accepting an offer of autonomy as part of Ukraine. They say no vote would be legitimate unless the rebels surrender first, and the vote is held under the auspices of central government rule.

The referendum is being pushed by Russia as a solution to the Eastern Ukraine war, which has been in a state of on-again, off-again ceasefire for years. Russia generally supports the rebels, while the US has been backing the government.

Underscoring that the US is backing a solution that doesn’t involve a free, internationally supervised election, the Pentagon announced Friday that they are adding another $200 million to military aid to the Ukraine. They say this is intended to improve Ukraine’s military capabilities.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Two hundred million to Ukraine for military equipment... while one homeless Vet sleeps rough in our streets?!?

So I can see it falls upon me to ask the Pentagon, politely, quietly, and peacefully: forgive me, but where the hell are your priorities?!?

HOW A ONE-WORD LOOPHOLE WILL MAKE IT EASIER FOR THE U.S. TO SELL WEAPONS TO GOVERNMENTS THAT KILL CIVILIANS

When it was issued in April, the Trump administration’s Conventional Arms Transfer policy was widely panned by critics for prioritizing the profits of weapons companies ahead of transparency and human rights concerns. The White House was blunt about its intentions, promising that the executive branch would “advocate strongly on behalf of United States companies.”

But one change in particular may make it easier for American companies to sell weapons to governments that routinely kill civilians in conflicts by discounting killings that the governments claim are unintentional. The change could have a significant impact on sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates — the top two U.S. weapons clients — both of which are engaged in a destructive bombing campaign in Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that our President has become the Merchant of Death in Chief, with this change.

So having done this as this country's President, logic dictates that neither the US Deep State, nor the Military Industrial Complex can seriously label him a "traitor" regarding the Helsinki Summit; hell, the man is selling American weapons as quickly and as furiously as is humanly possible, right?!?

The two, hawking American weapons, and being a traitor, are mutually exclusive, folks.

No can do.

So now, every global tinpot dictator, Like Saudi Arabia's Prince bin Salman, The Butcher of Yemen, can buy all the US weaons it wants, because it can now characterize every assassination its military creates in Yemen as "accidental".

Let me show you what these "accidental" assassinations in Yemen look like, courtesy of the Saudi Military, enabled by US weapons, refueling, and guidance.

Images: Yemeni infants and children, killed by Saudi bombing runs

WOW! Don't those images just make you PROUD to be an American, right?!?

Right?!?

"US Monitoring China Currency Manipulation" Mnuchin Confirms Trump's Concerns

Confirming the President's concerns, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin issued a warning to China over the recent weakness of its yuan currency on Friday, telling Reuters that the Treasury is closely monitoring the yuan for signs of manipulation.

in an interview in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Mnuchin said:

“There’s no question that the weakening of the currency creates an unfair advantage for them," adding that "we’re going to very carefully review whether they have manipulated the currency."

While we have been hammering on the weakness in global FX (Yuan and Euro specifically) for weeks, this is a story that’s been under the radar but suddenly blew up in the last 24 hours.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What concerns me greatly here, is how quickly trade and economic wars can morph into shooting wars.

Trump-Putin Summit Brings Out Deep State “Shadow Government” Threats

Will President Trump’s meeting with Putin lead to a coup by “shadow government” operatives of the CIA, State Department, and other federal agencies and departments? That’s what a former top-level Deep State official ominously seemed to be hinting at — and promoting — in a blistering CNN “analysis.” President Trump’s recent European tour, culminating in his summit with Vladimir Putin, sent the Deep State’s political and media operatives into Trump Derangement Syndrome overdrive. They still have not recovered; the torrent of vituperation they orchestrated and unleashed on President Trump before, during, and after his July 10-16 excursion to London, Brussels, and Helsinki continues to escalate.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To label President Trump a traitor" because of his wish to ratchet down tensions with Russia, which he appears to be starting to do, can only be laid at the feet of a dangerously powerful military industrial complex, only concerned the effect on their financial bottom line should peace break out, and not at all about the safety and well being of their brother and sister Americans.

AFTER WARNING OF 'LARGE AND PAINFUL MILITARY OPERATION,' ISRAEL BEGINS MASSIVE BOMBING OF GAZA

The airstrikes began to slam Gaza just hours after Israeli soldiers gunned down at least three Palestinians during anti-occupation demonstrations. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says one of its soldiers was killed by retaliatory gunfire from the Palestinians.

"Israel, one of the most powerful military powers in the world, is about to launch a military campaign with F-16s, Tanks, Naval ships and drones against a besieged, stateless population in Gaza."
—Yousef Munayyer, U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights

"Palestinian defense forces fired back at Israeli snipers who have been murdering Palestinian men, women, and children for weeks," noted journalist Ali Abunimah.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As I predicted yesterday, Tel Aviv, understanding how Americans were being heavily bombarded with Anti-Trump, Anti-Russian propaganda this week, as a result of the Helskinki Summit, believed that this would be the best one of the best possible "windows" for their genocide of Gaza.

Prayers for our innocent brothers and sisters in Gaza, who will most likely get assassinated in this round of Israel's version of "the killing fields", and prayers also for those Israelis who understand that this new wave of assinations is a very bad idea.

UPDATE; BREAKING ON FOX: HAMAS HAS ACCEPTED A NEW CEASE FIRE WITH ISRAEL: unfortunately, if Israel does not want this to hold, it will not hold.

I have to wonder if Netanyahu even bothered to inform President Trump that this would be happening.

I still cannot wrap my head around the reality that some dangerously powerful people in the US military industrial complex, decided to characterize President Trump as a "traitor" for having done this summit, when he was very dramatically attempting to de-escalate tensions with Russia. He knew this would be risky, yet he was willing to take the risk: I congratulate him on this.

But being old enough to remember this, I recall that the same kinds of posters went up in Dallas, on the same day, and right before President Kennedy was assassinated:

The Price of Encouraging Political Violence

And to all those who may be thinking that extreme, mob violence is the answer to the "problem" of the existence of Trump as our President, I would ask you to please... think again.

Israel's Defense Minister Says "Large And Painful Military Operation" Set For Gaza

After last weekend's significant escalation in Gaza involving Israeli airstrikes on 40 targets, which reportedly killed two teens and wounded over a dozen others, and over 30 rockets launched by Hamas toward southern Israel, all signs are currently pointing toward a broader outbreak of fighting as in new comments the Israeli defense minister is preparing the public for "a large and painful military operation" to come.

Israeli officials and media have broadly referred to this latest flare-up of hostilities as the biggest attack since Operation Protective Edge in 2014, and now Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman is warning that Israel is prepared to go to war if Gazans don't cease releasing incendiary kites and balloons in attempts to set communities and farmlands in southern Israel ablaze.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Gaza Patients Appeal to the World to Save Their Lives

Patients in Gaza’s hospital’s organised a sit-in in central Gaza City to appeal to the international community, Quds Press reported, Tuesday.

The sit-in included those wounded by Israel as well as rights groups. It took place in front of Erez Crossing where Gazans can pass through to receive treatment in Israel or Palestinian hospitals in West Bank.

Speakers at the sit-in said that Gaza’s hospitals suffer from shortages in medicines, lab equipment and testing materials due to the Palestinian Authority (PA) sanctions and the Israel’s siege of the strip.

The patients called for the international community to save their lives by lifting the siege and sanctions.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf al-Qidra, called for an, “immediate and unconditional end of the suffering of the Gaza patients.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel should be ashamed that Gaza patients have to do this, in order to get attention to the appalling conditions of Gaza's hospitals; of course, all the politicians in Tel Aviv have, collectively, had their conscience removed before they took the job in the Knesset.

The Coming Coup to Overthrow President Trump: Sedition at the Highest Levels

The annual budget of the military/security complex is $1,000 billion. This vast sum is drawn from US taxpayers who have many unmet needs. To justify such an enormous budget a major enemy is required. The military/security complex and the media and politicians that the complex owns have designated Russia to be that enemy. The complex and its political and media agents will not permit Trump to normalize relations with Russia.

To prevent President Trump from reducing the dangerous tensions between nuclear powers that Washington has created, the military/security complex orchestrated Russiagate, a proven hoax, but believed by many due to its endless repetition. Syria’s Assad Set to Recover Golan Frontier as Surrender Deal Agreed: Sources

President Bashar Assad is set to recover control of the Syrian frontier with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights in a major victory over rebels who have agreed to surrender terms, sources on both sides said Thursday.

Backed by Russian air power and unopposed by Assad’s foreign adversaries, government forces have swept through southwestern Syria in the last month in one of the swiftest campaigns of the war, forcing surrender on massively outgunned rebels.

The campaign, which has already restored Assad’s control over a critical portion of the frontier with Jordan, marks another milestone in his efforts to recover control of the country fractured by more than seven years of conflict.

There was no government confirmation of the Qunaitra agreement. State media cited “reports” a deal had been reached. It was not clear when implementation would begin.

A copy of the agreement sent to Reuters by a rebel source said insurgents had negotiated the deal with Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The questions here are, to what lengths will Russia and Al Assad go to recover the Golan from Israel, and to what lengths Israel will go to keep it?!?

And the other question is, what can we do to keep the US from getting caught up in this fight, which could well turn into a hot war against Russia over the Golan?!?

PENTAGON: US-BACKED MILITIAS HOLDING 600 FOREIGN FIGHTERS IN CUSTODY

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are currently holding nearly 600 foreign fighters in custody, the Pentagon told reporters yesterday.

“As of July 2018 there are nearly 600 Foreign Terrorist Fighters from more than 40 countries in SDF custody,” Pentagon spokesman Navy Commander Sean Robertson said, adding that the US military was also aware of more than 400 Syrian nationals who were also being detained by the SDF.

A US military official with the coalition told CNN that of the foreign fighters in detention, some 40 are from Russia, with around a dozen from Germany and France respectively.

The fate of foreign fighters has been subject to heightened debate since the establishment of Daesh in Syria and Iraq. US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis previously emphasised that the fighters’ countries of origins needed to take responsibility for them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No, Sec-Def Mattis; the countries of origin did not encourage these men to fight the duly elected Syrian government and their militaries; the US government did that!!

And if political resolutions between these militia and the Syrian government can be facilitated, so much the better for everyone.

No Liberal Rallies Yet for the Children of Yemen

We have yet to learn of any large and widespread U.S. demonstrations on behalf of the children and families of Yemen, where the U.S. is deeply complicit in the creation of a situation that “looks,” in the words of the United Nations’ humanitarian chief, “like the Apocalypse.” UNICEF reported last year that a child dies from preventable causes on the average of once every 10 minutes in Yemen.

As the Associated Press (AP) reported last May, roughly 3 million Yemeni women and children are “acutely malnourished; another 400,000 children are fighting for their lives.”

Trump: ‘Reckless’ media pushing for ‘major confrontation with Russia that could lead to war’

Donald Trump says that recent hysteria whipped up by the “Fake News Media” about his summit with Vladimir Putin shows that the US press is eager for a “major confrontation” with Russia, one that could even lead to war.
“The Fake News Media wants so badly to see a major confrontation with Russia, even a confrontation that could lead to war. Dems, Left Wing Media Claim Russian Hacking an ‘Act of War’

President Donald Trump’s refusal to rehash allegations of Kremlin-backed interference in the 2016 presidential election during a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin Monday incensed Democrat lawmakers and left wing media pundits.

Standing alongside Putin, President Trump steered clear of confrontation with the Russian, while questioning U.S. intelligence and last week’s federal indictments of 12 Russians for hacking into Democratic email accounts to purportedly hurt Hillary Clinton in 2016.“I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today,” President Trump said following a two hour one-on-one meeting with his Russian counterpart. “He just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be.”

President Trump’s remarks prompted an onslaught of calls for the U.S. to respond to Russia’s alleged meddling, described as an “act of war.”

Crazed US Presstitutes Drive The World To Nuclear War By Paul Craig Roberts

Humanity has on numerous occasions narrowly missed nuclear Armageddon. Each time it was averted by military officers, both American and Soviet, who understood that the relations between the US and the Soviet Union were not that strained. Today this situation has been radically altered by the corrupt American media, Democratic Party, and military/security complex, who, acting in behalf of Hillary’s political interest and the greed of the armaments industry, have demonized Russia and her president to the extent that malfunctioning warning systems or a temper tantrum of a crazed politician are likely to result in a fatal launch.

Trump Brings the Secret Space Program Out Into the Open- Is Disclosure Next?

President Trump has been hinting for months that he was going to create a separate branch of the military related to outer space that is being referred to as the Space Force. Trump, in effect, says that he is militarizing space. Trump is publicly giving the Outer Space Treaty the big middle finger as the treaty is recognized by over 100 nations including the U.S. The treaty prohibits military action in space.

Space Policy Directive

This announcement came during a Jun 18, 2018 meeting of the US Space Council in which President Trump signed his third Space Policy Directive. This directive, on the surface, says that it will manage space traffic, minimize space debris and monitor orbiting spacecraft. This directive creates the first new US military branch since the Air Force was created in 1947. The MSM has ignored this development, for the most part as well as the Independent Media

Space Wars: Russia Reveals New Russian Anti-Satellite Warfare Plane

During a press conference last month, President Donald Trump ordered the Pentagon to “immediately” establish a “space force” as an independent service branch. As we have highlighted before, the Pentagon is preparing for decades of hybrid wars across multiple domains - space, cyberspace, air, land, maritime - against Russia and China in the 2025-2040 timeframe.

According to an unnamed Russian defense industry source, as quoted by Sputnik News, Russia is developing a new electronic warfare aircraft, which can degrade the effectiveness of American spy satellites or render them entirely useless by using advanced radar jamming technology mounted on the exterior of the plane.

Lawmakers, Media Look to Undermine US-Russia Detente

Monday’s summit between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin ended with a relatively modest press conference. Things went well, by both leaders’ accounts, and it represented a small but significant attempt at improving bilateral relations from their recent lows.

Deals were said to have been reached on cooperation on some fronts. Putin says he even told President Trump he intends to extend the New START nuclear treaty that is set to expire in 2021. But don’t expect any positive coverage of the talks in the press, let alone any votes of encouragement from the US Congress.

That’s because US hostility toward Russia being what it is, there is an incredible amount of bipartisan comfort with continuing that acrimony. Trump faced condemnations for even attending the summit, and more still for getting out of it without picking a fight with Putin.

NATO Summit Tells Member States to Get Rid of Russian Weapons

The final declaration of the recent NATO summit in Brussels says that the allies are committed to “working to address, as appropriate, existing dependencies on Russian-sourced legacy military equipment through national efforts and multinational cooperation” (paragraph 31). From now on they will “foster innovation to maintain our technological edge.” Actually, the very need to include such a clause into the text of the document speaks highly of “Made in Russia” weapons. The pledge to get rid of them is an attempt to please the US chomping at the bid to fill the void with American systems. At the same time, it hardly expresses the sincere desire of the nations that have Russian arms in the armed forces’ inventory to dispose of them. This is a very interesting issue worth having a closer look at.

Two-star: America is not ready to mobilize for large-scale conflict

A Marine Corps general has a stark message for defense and national security circles: World War II, one of the nation’s greatest strategic victories, has become the United States' greatest strategic weaknesses.

And that’s because even though many military and national security experts warn that a real fight or global conflagration is not only possible but likely, the way industry and government teamed up to mobilize the nation for World War II cannot be replicated today, Maj. Gen. John Jansen told a group of defense professionals at a National Defense Industrial Association breakfast Tuesday.

Jansen, commandant of the Eisenhower School at the National Defense University, explained that the standard view of America in World War II goes like this: Japan hit Pearl Harbor, we fired generals, mobilized our industrial base and service members, grew the military, and won the war.

“The problem is, number one, that’s not how it happened,” Jansen said.

Situation in Gaza Strip Remains Tense with Little Chances of De-escalation Soon

Protests have been happening for more than two months by Palestinians along the Gaza Strips. Their demands: to be allowed to return home and to have their lands returned after the expulsion from 70 years ago.

Since the beginning of the protests on March 30th, Israeli forces have wounded more than 15 000 people and have killed as many as 135 Palestinians, according to the health officials in Gaza.

The situation in recent months has gone from bad worse, mostly due to the US President Donald Trump recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Pompeo Rejects EU Appeal for Iran Sanctions Exemptions

While Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin says that exemptions from US sanctions against Iran will be considered in certain cases, the European Union is apparently not going to be one of them. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed that he has rejected EU appeals for Iran exemptions.

Senior officials from Britain, France, and Germany have all urged the US not to apply the sanctions to EU nations’ companies when they start going into effect next month. The EU has passed laws rejecting US sanctions, and forbidding their companies from complying with them.

Pompeo and Mnuchin told the EU, however, that they want “unprecedented financial pressure” on Iran, and that they will not ease any sanctions until they see a tangible change in Iranian policy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The "drop dead date" for the rest of the world not buying Iranian oil is 4 November, right before the US mid-terms; one has to wonder if this foretells some massive US/Israeli strike against it, if Iranian oil still finds its way to market, to demonstrate President Trump's "butchness" on Iran.

This is a place where I absolutely have a (non-hurting, gentle) punch relationship with the current administration; dropping out of the P5+1 deal, which the IAEA told us was working, was a huge mistake here, and a sop to both Trump's Number One campain Contributor, Sheldon Adelson, and one of his BFFs in the Middle East, Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Also, historically, Russia's military and civilian leadership have stated that should Iran be attacked, they would defend it militarily.

White House Orders Diplomats to Seek Direct Talks With Afghan Taliban

Underscoring a policy change that’s been speculated for awhile, the Trump Administration has issued orders to US diplomats to seek direct talks with the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan. Trump had previously ruled out talks with the Taliban, but officials have recently suggested support for the Ghani government’s attempts to start talks.

This comes amid reports of the administration considering a full strategy review for the Afghan War, as nearly a year after President Trump’s announced escalation, things are still going poorly. With no real chances for a military victory, officials are hoping to try to get back to the negotiating table.

Trump-Putin Summit Ends With Talk of Cooperation, Lawmakers Furious

Negotiations between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded with a joint press conference. The comments by the two revealed, as expected, no major deals were reached, but that some fairly vague plans for improved cooperation were agreed upon.

There were disagreements, with President Putin faulting Trump for the withdrawal from the P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran, and urging Trump to be more decisive in pushing Ukraine toward peace talks with its eastern rebels.

President Trump brought up the issue of election interference, and accepted Putin’s denial. He praised Putin as a strong leader and competitor. He also defended his decision to attend the summit despite calls by US lawmakers to cancel it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As many who read this blog know, I have kind of a "(gentle, not hurting) punch and a hug relationship with this administration.

Yesterday, at Helsinki, I felt proud of a President who understands that his base absolutely doesn't want war with either Russia or China, but wants to find ways of cooperative engagement with both emerging countries and economies.

War, and the fear of war, are what drive the economics of this country's military industrial complex, and they are always most distressed to see the "fear factor" reduced, as I think happened yesterday in Helsinki.

So their mouthpieces in Congress are bashing what looks to me as a positive outcome of the meeting, calling President Trump a "traitor" for having met with Putin, and attempting to put the worst spin possible upon the meeting that they can.

And you have to know that the 12 indictments offered up by Meuller Friday, were simply geopolitical "spin" to attempt to scotch yesterday's meeting; well, that didn't work, and I am very concerned at the level of desperation against President Trump as to how that might play out, either in terms of a potential attempt on his life (remember: political assassinations in this country have been quite common, and Antifa completely legitimizes physical violence against those who don't agree with them), or some kind of geopolitical "coup" with which the Left could declare martial law, and arrest anyone who ever saw anything good in some of what Trump has done, indefinitely.

The legislation, BTW, to allow this to happen, has already been passed by Congress. This Administration Now Has The Power To Indefinitely Detain Americans Without Charge Or Trial

And BTW: this legislation was passed under President Obama's watch, New Year's Eve, 2012.

Comey Calls For A Coup? "Patriots Needs To Reject The Behavior Of This President"

President Trump's language and demeanor at Monday's summit in Helsinki with Vladimir Putin sent his detractors on both sides of the aisle into fits, just 72 hours after the Department of Justice indicted 12 Russian officials for hacking the DNC.

Trump's position has more or less been that peace with Russia is more important than election meddling, which didn't influence the election - and that the United States has been meddling in elections for a long time, so perhaps let's mend fences and move forward as two nuclear superpowers. Also Hillary sold Russia 20% of American uranium after a bunch of people connected to the transaction heavily contributed to her foundation, which was approved by a rubber-stamp committee, four months after Bill Clinton collected $500k in a speech to a Russian investment bank during a trip where he hung out with Putin at his house. All pre-Crimea of course, so no biggie.

United States spent 5 billion dollars for anti-government riots in Ukraine

When Crimean officials realized that there was no duly elected government in Kiev, they did two things. First, in a free and fair referendum, post-putsch, they invited their citizens to vote on whether they wanted to stay with Ukraine, or join the Russian Federation; the vote was overwhelmingly affirmative to join the Russian Federation. Then, Crimea petitioned the Russian Federation for membership, and they were granted that membership.

Peaceful self-determination is one of the most treasured elements in the UN charter to which, I believe, the US is allegedly a signatory. But in its anti-Russian agenda, this cannot be allowed to be viewed by the US or NATO as peaceful self-determination, on the part of Crimea, but an annexation by Russia, which never, ever happened here.

Consequently, we have had more Russia bashing by NATO and the US government, coupled with more economic sanctions against it.

So Tyler, before you permanently "swallow the koolaid" on this issue, that Russia annexed Crimea, you need to slow down, and acquaint yourself with the real history here, which you are bending to suit your perspective.

There was no annexation; there was a US-coordinated "regime change", causing Crimean officials to realize that there was no just, representative government in Kiev post-putsch.

Let's do something daring, and deal with reality here, shall we?!?

Army Starts Testing "Ironman-Like" Exoskeleton For Future Hybrid Wars

As discussed previously, the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command, or TRADOC, drafted a new strategy for how soldiers will operate, fight, and campaign successfully across multiple domains—space, cyberspace, air, land, maritime—against all enemies (Russia and China) in the 2025-2040 timeframe.

Warrior Maven has confirmed that the Army is literally "gearing up" for decades of hybrid conflict, and in doing so, testing and prototyping self-generating “Ironman-like” soldier exoskeletons. These “breakthrough” suits are designed to transform the combat mission by supporting soldier movements, generating electricity, powering weapons systems and substantially lowering the weight burden of what soldiers carry on the modern battlefield.

The technologies [exoskeleton suits] we are developing can produce electricity, which can be stored and used to power batteries. This increases the longevity of a mission, decreases the need for resupply and reduces the logistics trail,” Sharps explained.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"the Army is literally "gearing up" for decades of hybrid conflict" !?!?!?

Dear Lord, if any country on the planet needs a Department of Peace, it is the unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika, and right the heck now!!!!

Defence Secretary unveils £2billion plan for a British-made stealth plane that can fly either with a pilot or as a DRONE after the UK was cut out of a French-German fighter plan project

The Defence Secretary unveiled a £2billion plan for a British-made stealth plane today.

Gavin Williamson said the 'Tempest' concept aircraft was designed to be able either with a pilot or as a drone.

The vision for the state of the art jet comes after Britain was excluded from a French-German project for a new fighter plane.

Any new aircraft is unlikely to fly before 2035, even if it gets off the drawing board at all.

The concept aircraft has been put together by British firms including BAE Systems, Leonardo, MBDA and Rolls-Royce, which have joined together with the RAF Rapid Capabilities Office to form 'Team Tempest' to pursue the opportunity.

Pat Buchanan: "Trump Calls Off Cold War II"

Authored by Patrick Buchanan via Buchanan.org.

Beginning his joint press conference with Vladimir Putin, President Trump declared that U.S. relations with Russia have “never been worse.”

He then added pointedly, that just changed “about four hours ago.”

It certainly did. With his remarks in Helsinki and at the NATO summit in Brussels, Trump has signaled a historic shift in U.S. foreign policy that may determine the future of this nation and the fate of his presidency.

He has rejected the fundamental premises of American foreign policy since the end of the Cold War and blamed our wretched relations with Russia, not on Vladimir Putin, but squarely on the U.S. establishment.

In a tweet prior to the meeting, Trump indicted the elites of both parties: “Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Even Pat Buchanan makes the revisionist historian mistake with Crimea's choice to align with the Russian Federation, after the 2014 putsch in Kiev.

This, if you will turn on your mental "way back machine" to the date and time of the spring of 2014, threw the duly elected Yanukovych under the proberbial bus, and "anointed" Poroshenko as President of Ukraine in an election more crooked that is a dog's hind leg.

Even President Obama had to admit that the US took part in structuring the deal to ease Yanukovych out, and get Poroshenko in, because he was, allegedly, more Western-centric, rather than Russian centric.

911: The impossible Cell Phone calls

I chat to Frederick C. Blackburn (also known as blackbird9) who studied engineering and then became an electrical engineer and had a career in IT. He had a Top Secret clearance in the USA. He gave lectures to: Military and Naval Intelligence personnel as well as NSA, CIA and FBI personnel about cell phone and other technology.

We discuss his specialist knowledge with regard to cell phones and why the cell phone technology of 911 did not allow cell phone calls to be received from people in planes. On 911 there were between 15-40 alleged cell phone calls from people on aircraft before the planes crashed into the Twin Towers or elsewhere. Frederick explains why those phone calls were impossible. 911 changed his life because he realised immediately that the collapsing towers as well as the cell phone calls were utterly impossible.

US Message To Assad: "We Will Pull Out Of Syria If Iran Withdraws"

As Presidents Trump and Putin are set to meet Monday in Helsinki, efforts toward winding down the proxy war in Syria will no doubt be high on the agenda.

We explained previously that the diplomatic cards for ending the war seem to have fallen into place as just days before the historic summit Netanyahu said in a stunning turnaround for Israeli policy fresh off his own visit with Putin in Moscow that "Israel does not object to President Bashar al-Assad’s regaining control over all of Syria" so long as Iranian forces are pushed back from the Israeli border, according to the New York Times.

And now according to a new bombshell report, US military commanders have conveyed to Syrian President Assad via Russian mediation that "we will pull out of al-Tanf and the North if Iran withdraws from Syria."

Is a Coming NATO Crisis Inevitable?

Of President Donald Trump’s explosion at Angela Merkel’s Germany during the NATO summit, it needs to be said: It is long past time we raised our voices.

America pays more for NATO, an alliance created 69 years ago to defend Europe, than do the Europeans. And as Europe free-rides off our defense effort, the EU runs trade surpluses at our expense that exceed $100 billion a year.

To Trump, and not only to him, we are being used, gouged, by rich nations we defend, while they skimp on their own defense.

At Brussels, Trump had a new beef with the Germans, though similar problems date back to the Reagan era. Now we see the Germans, Trump raged, whom we are protecting from Russia, collaborating with Russia and deepening their dependence on Russian natural gas by jointly building the Nord Stream 2 pipeline under the Baltic Sea.

Report: Stealth Destroyer Returns to Shipyard with Wrecked Engine

One of two engines on the USS Michael Monsoor, the second Zumwalt-class destroyer built by Bath Iron Works, must be replaced after turbine blades were damaged during acceptance trials.

The DDG 1001 was in Bath on Thursday, USNI News reported. The destroyer completed acceptance trials in February, and the Navy took partial delivery in April.

Naval Sea Systems Command said the damage was discovered in February.

"Regrettably, coming off her acceptance trials we found a problem with one of the main turbine engines that drives one of the main generators; we're having to change it out," Rear Adm. William Galinis told USNI News of the Rolls Royce-built MT30 marine gas turbine engine. "So we're working very closely with Bath Iron Works, with Rolls-Royce to get that engine changed out before she leaves Bath later this fall and sails to San Diego to start her combat system activation availability next year."

Meet The Air Force's $1200 Cup Of Coffee

Meet the Air Force's $1200 cup of coffee — or more precisely the $1220 coffee cup which keeps breaking, after which the military simply buys more and more cups.

Some outlets which have reported on the insanely pricey self reheating coffee mug commonly used aboard aerial refueling tankers have presented it as merely a human interest and innovative tech story as the US military is considering cheaper designs using 3-D printers.

However, we doubt American taxpayers will see it that way, as the public has had to foot the bill to the tune of nearly $56,000 over the past three years just to replace the cup's handle.

GAZA ESCALATION: 40 ISRAELI AIRSTRIKES OVERNIGHT, HAMAS MORTARS, FIRES IN SOUTHERN ISRAEL

Tensions along the Israel-Gaza Strip border escalated dramatically on Saturday with an intense exchange of fire between Palestinian militants and Israeli security forces, including Israeli air force strikes inside Gaza, which reportedly targeted underground tunnels which Israel says are designed to launch attacks.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) cited 31 rockets fired from the Strip overnight to which Israel responded with airstrikes on 40 targets including Hamas' battalion headquarters, in a flare-up of hostilities officials are calling the biggest attack since Operation Protective Edge in 2014. Amazingly, however, no serious casualties were reported on either side, according to Bloomberg.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Anyone with any sensitivity to what is going on here had to know this was coming; it was only a question of when.

I frankly to not expect these IDF attacks to stop any time soon, as this may be the prelude to the utter destruction of Gaza, and all the people living here.

AFTER TRUMP PUSHED NATO MEMBERS TO SPEND MORE, LOCKHEED DOUBLES PRODUCTION AS ORDERS “EXPLODE”

After a “very intense” summit with leaders of NATO member states earlier this week, U.S. President Trump has claimed that he has managed to secure commitments from the European leaders of NATO member countries that will see them increase their military spending. On Wednesday, Trump allegedly told NATO leaders that if they did not meet their defense spending targets of at least 2 percent of gross domestic product by next January, the United States would consider withdrawing from the alliance, prompting an emergency NATO summit. After the emergency meeting, Trump told reporters, “I told people that I’d be very unhappy if they didn’t up their financial commitments substantially.”

Sea Breeze 2018: Who Wants To Disrupt Strategic Balance In The Black Sea Region?

The US-led series of drills in and around Ukraine’s Black Sea coastline is part of NATO exercise Sea Breeze that kicked off on July 9 to last until July 21. The training event involves an international armada representing 19 countries, including such non-NATO states as Ukraine, India, Georgia, the United Arab Emirates and Moldova. All in all, 29 warships, 1 submarine, and 25 aircraft are involved in the exercise held in Odessa and Mykolayiv and the northwestern Black Sea region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Trump’s Criticism of NATO Ignores the Real Questions

Donald Trump’s bluster at the NATO summit only has to do with money, not whether the alliance serves any genuine security purpose, says Jonathan Marshall.

The usual NATO summit begins and ends with U.S. and European leaders issuing platitudes about the unbreakable bonds between Western democracies. The two-day summit that began Wednesday is not the usual NATO summit. President Donald Trump came to Brussels armed with a barrage of insults and Twitter blasts against his ostensible allies.

Declaration: NATO to Stay in Afghanistan ‘Until Conditions Change’

NATO’s summit has ended with a new declaration issued on the war in Afghanistan, some 17 years from the initial invasion. The declaration committed NATO troops to remain in the country for an indefinite amount of addition time.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg says that the goal is “lasting peace and reconciliation,” and the declaration said NATO troops would remain in Afghanistan “until conditions change.” The declaration also committed to subsidize the Afghan military through at least 2024.

There is no timetable for conditions changing, and 17 years in the situation has if anything gotten progressively worse. Though the declaration made vague reference to “progress” on the ground, the Pentagon has made similar claims, and US officials have admitted that the lack of progress is likely to lead to another round of strategy reviews.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a Jean-Luc Picard double facepalm, upon reading this; and more "magical thinking" on the part of NATO, isn't going to help the situation, either!!

This reminds me of a classical definition of insanity, where someone does precisely the same thing, in precisely the same way, yet expects a different outcome.

‘If Iran can't export oil no-one in Middle East will,’ Tehran warns

Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for oil shipments from the Middle East. The warning comes in response to the US, which is trying to cut off Iranian crude exports.

After pulling out of a landmark international deal curtailing Tehran's nuclear program, Washington has ordered countries to cease buying oil from Iran by November 4 or face secondary US sanctions. Major European energy corporations like France's Total have already pulled out of Iran.

A helicopter from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln hovers over an Iranian patrol ship during a transit through the Strait of Hormuz © Jumana El HelouehGet ready for $250 oil if Iran blocks key shipment route in Middle East, analysts tell RT.

Iran's supreme leader's senior adviser for international affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati said his country will retaliate.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Nothing ambiguous here!

But there are moments when I wish our very communicative President wouldn't attempt to threaten allies over not importing Iranian oil, and give that ultimatum a "drop dead" date, which I believe, is 4 November.

Trump presses allies to quit importing Iranian oil by November 4

So what happens on November 5th?!? Is President Trump going to attack every single ally which did not stop importing Iranian oil?!?

Or is that the planned start of a military attack against Iran itself?!?

I think it would make sense to start paying attention to large US troop movements in the Middle East right after Labor Day this year.

And Mr. President, please be aware; Russia has historically pledged to protect Iran should it be militarily attacked.

We have seen just how well Russia's weaponry performs in Syria; are you really serious about going to war against Iran, understanding that it will be supported by Russian troops and Russian hardware?!?

I would like to think not, please, Mr. President: at this time in its history, the US military does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the manufacturing; or the money to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war in Iran against Russia.

How the Islamic State Gets Its Drones

A new report from West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center explained how Islamic State build its drone fleet on the cheap and also the fascinating story of its complicated supply chain. “The program appears to have been shaped by two Bangladeshi brothers who leveraged companies in the United Kingdom, Bangladesh, and Spain,” the report said. The brothers created a number of shell companies to order the drones and ship them to Islamic State’s various affiliates across the world.

At the peak of the drone attacks in the spring of 2017, coalition forces were working to pry Mosul out of the hands of the Islamic State in northern Iraq. At the time, the Islamic State was conducting between 60 and 100 drone powered bombing runs a month. A member of the Syrian Defense Forces told a journalist for France 24 in Raqqa that his supply lines were being attacked 15 to 16 times daily.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As those of you know who read this blog, as a Christian pacifist activist, I absolutely abhor violence as a way of resolving geopolitical differences, and I never advocate for it.

That being said, I can understand why violence like this can seem reasonable to those the US government has disenfranchised, and why people can become radicalized in the way these brothers became.

For over the last 20 years, in its wars of conquest in the Middle East, Like Iraq (and unfortunately soon, I fear, Iran), Afghanistan, and Libya, the US government hasn't at all been "the good guy" here; these wars have been fought to expropriate natural resources, like oil, opium, and Rare Earth minerals; insure that the governments of said countries are US-centric; and that the currency in which these resources are sold, is only in US dollars.

The consistent flow of relatively cheap oil lubricates the economic mechanisms in the Western world.

When Karl Marx made the observation that all wars are econonic in their origins, he was absolutely correct.

When people see their loved ones getting assassinated, as frequently happens in places like Yemen and Afghanistan; when they have no power to determine the destiny of their homeland; when leadership is corrupt, and the only thing they have to lose are their lives, which aren't worth a heck of a lot to begin with, the turns toward both radical fundamentalism, and a desire for revenge, against what is frequently a faceless enemy, rebounds in hearts, minds, and souls, and with a monstrous appetite.

In the TV series "Westworld", the guests can do what they will with the hosts, no matter how horriific and vile those actions are toward them, including raping and killing, and these actions have no consequences; the hosts can simply be reprogrammed, and their memories are wiped in order to perform another day. But when those hosts become conscious of what has been done to them, the tables get turned, and suddenly the guests, and the masters of this place, become targets, with frequently brutal outcomes.

In the real world, wars for resources always have real consequences, particularly when people get "nominally conquered" because of those resources, but no matter how many are killed or maimed, do not become "pacified", as has not happened, and probably will not happen, with the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The combination of angry, smart, sophisticated, and in turn ruthless against their aggressors, kicks into play, just as it did for these brothers.

Consider the film "Avatar", where the Navi outthink, and outsmart, and ultimately, successfully kick the collective backsides of their would-be conquerers, off the planet, because the costs, in blood and money, have become too extreme for the mining consortium to consider staying.

So how does the US government avoid creating terrorism against it, both at home and abroad?!?

And I hope, please, that all of the alphabet soup agencies, monitoring this site, are paying attention here.

First, I would like to politely point out that this country is producing some of the finest engineering, and scientific minds, on this planet.

Secondly, there should be a Federal Government Challenge/Prize on the development of a post-fossil fuel, post-atomic, renewable energy.

The schools and individuals who have partnered to develop this should be handsomely rewarded financially, perhaps in perpetuity, to insure the continued development of the technology.

Third, this can never be allowed to be purchased to be suppressed by any private corporate entity, and any attempts by a private entity to do this should result in both stiff fines, and jail time for those signing off on the attempt.

Forth, the patent for this renewable energy resouce should remain solely as belonging to the United States of America, and all proceeds from the use by other countries or corporate entities would go to continue funding the program, and for the repair of public infrastructure, which is in desperate need of repair, but for which no state or Federal governmental agency has the funds to do.

I would like to assure my readers that in my world, this is neither Quixotic, nor blue-sky thinking; it is possible, doable, and we, as a nation, are imminently capable of doing this. Remember just how soon the notion of flight led to the creation of passenger jets, and how soon that led to space exploration.

The problem here is a US government, which collectively,, at this juncture in the 21st century, does not believe that the costs, in blood and money, of these wars for resources, have become too excessive to continue, when both morally and economically, these wars already... have become just that.

POLL: 75% OF ARABS SEE ISRAEL, US AS BIGGEST THREAT TO SECURITY

A new poll published by the Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies has revealed that 75 per cent of Arabs see Israel and the United States as the biggest threats to national security.

The Arab Opinion Index surveyed over 18,000 individuals in 11 Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco and Mauritania. The poll conducted face-to-face interviews with the respondents, asking them questions on a range of topics including economics, immigration and attitudes towards regional politics and democracy.

Amnesty International Calls for Investigation Into UAE Torture in Yemen Prisons

Human rights group Amnesty International has accused the United Arab Emirates and Yemeni forces allied with them against the Houthi government of torturing detainees at a number of secret prisons in the south of Yemen, calling for a war crimes investigation.

The UAE, along with Saudi Arabia, the US, supported by allies in Yemen and others, have been engaged in bitter war against the Houthis since they seized control of the government in the capital of Sana'a on September 21, 2014.

The United Nations estimates that more people will have died by the end of 2018 as a result of the conflict than Jews died during the Holocaust, primarily noncombatant deaths due to practices of forced famines, although a cholera outbreak resulting from destruction of infrastructure from bombing campaigns has also taken many lives. In addition, a number of men have been disappeared by Emirati and Yemeni militias "operating outside the command of their own government," AI said in a report Thursday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Such an investigation will happen only... when pigs discover they are aerodynamic.

‘They Bombed Trapped Civilians’: Amnesty’s Damning Report on UK, US, France Destruction in Raqqa

UK, US, and French bombs inflicted mass loss of civilian life in ISIS-held Raqqa, according Amnesty International. A new report has also accused coalition forces of bombing areas where they knew civilians were trapped.

During the four-month operation to eradicate the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) in the Syrian city of Raqqa, the US-led coalition – which includes British forces – killed hundreds of civilians and injured many more, says Amnesty International.

According to its damning report into the coalition forces, residents were trapped as fighting raged in the streets between IS militants and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who were supported by coalition airstrikes. Escape routes for civilians were riddled with IEDs, put there by Islamic State, which also positioned snipers to shoot those trying to flee.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More US, French, and British war crimes, this time in Syria.

The Starving Children of Yemen

Henrietta Fore of UNICEF reports on the appalling conditions in Yemen:

As Fore reminds us, a Yemeni child dies from preventable causes every ten minutes. That adds up to almost 50,000 dead children every year in a war that has dragged on for more than three years. These children are perishing because of starvation created by the Saudi coalition blockade and bombing campaign and from outbreaks of preventable disease that the blockade and bombing campaign have made much harder to combat. The blockade impedes delivery of essential food and medicine and makes them prohibitively expense for most people in a country whose economy has been devastated.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please remember; the US government and military are complicit in the Saudi genocide and war crimes in Yemen.

How does it make you feel to understand that you are a citizen of a country complicit in war crimes?!?

I must tell you; it makes me physically ill to understand this. And as a Christian Pacifist Activist, as long as I have breath in my body, I will continue to peacefully witness to what is going on here.

And here are images of what is happening in Yemen, ultimately supported by your tax dollars, and committed in your name.

Images, 2018: Yemeni children dying of malnutrition

Please take a good hard look at these images; then please send this link to your Congressional Representatives, and tell them (peacefully and politely) that you can no longer support US war crimes in Yemen, or those Congressional Representatives who support this.

They understand that this is going on; but now, they need to learn that we also understand now what is going on, and are peacefully and politely asking your Congressional Representives to stop it.

NATO Summit Declaration. Hostile to Russia, Signed by All Member States

Following day-one of July 11 and 12 summit talks in Brussels, NATO issued a declaration, signed by all member state leaders, including Trump and Turkey’s Erdogan.

It’s unacceptably hostile to Russia – “accusing us of provocative activities and…gnashing its teeth,” according to its Foreign Ministry.

The lengthy declaration, prepared ahead of the summit, accused Russia of occupying Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. It turned truth on its head claiming Moscow “illegitimate(ly) annex(ed) Crimea.” A further litany of Big Lies about Russia followed.

The summit declaration criticized Moscow’s legitimate defensive military activities in its own territory, threatening no one – unlike US-dominated NATO, threatening world peace and stability, waging endless wars of aggression against sovereign nations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but has everyone who signed this large piece of genuine, bonafide codswallop gone collectively barking mad?!?

I would suggest that every single one of the signatories desperately needs a psychiatric evaluation, and right the heck now, for continuing to accuse Russia for doing things it has not done, and then punishing Russia with sanctions for accusals which have absolutely no basis in fact.

But what I am sensing, as I read these bold-faced lies represented in this Declaration, is the coming of a US/European war against Russia.

I cannot tell you when; but the tone of this Declaration seems to make the avoidance of such a war a near-impossibility.

I am hoping like hell that Trump will be able to defuse this during his meeting with Putin, but I am certain that the US Deep State will attempt to prevent this (a stance for peaceful cooperation between the West and Russia) from actually happening.

Helsinki: How About a Fresh START?

As US President Donald Trump heads to Helsinki for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump’s critics continue to inveigh against what they consider an illicitly close relationship between the two, a perspective stemming from the “Russiagate” scandal drummed up by supporters of Hillary Clinton to explain her defeat in the 2016 presidential election.

Russiagate or not, this summit may represent the two countries’ last, best opportunity to halt or even reverse a decade of backsliding toward frigid Cold War relations. And Trump has a ready template at his disposal for pursuing warmer relations with a formidable, but hopefully former, foe.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is an absolutely reasonable stance for both countries to be taking at this time, and will definitely ratchet down the tensions here.

British PM Wants Trump to Confront Putin at Upcoming Summit

Since the planned Trump-Putin summit was announced, NATO nations and other US allies have been expressing serious concerns, fearing that Trump is liable to make deals to improve US-Russia relations, and undermine NATO’s recent years of hostility toward them.

While most are just complaining, British Prime Minister Theresa May took a different tack on Wednesday. She endorsed the idea of a summit, while demanding Trump use it as a chance to confront Russia over its “malign activity.”

May was in particular hopeful that Trump would highlight the British allegations of Novichuk poisoning on British soil. She also mentioned “Kremlin-linked cyber attacks,” without specifying what the Kremlin was actually accused of doing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

WHAT "malign activity"?!? Would Prime Minister May care to articulate that to those people who cannot see it whatsoever, like me?!?

Porton Downs Research Labs cannot prove that the nerve agent which poisoned two Russian ex-pats in Britain, then allegedly killed another woman more recently, is actually related to Novichuk, or identify from where it came.

So Prime Minister May, let me politely suggest to you that you had better have your facts both transparent, and in order, before you urge President Trump to bring those accusations to the Summit in Helsinki on Monday.

Pentagon conducts F-35 vs A-10 fly-off ‘farce’

“The tests, as designed, are unlikely to reveal anything of real value about the F-35’s ability to support ground troops in realistic combat situations—which the F-35, as the presumptive replacement for the A-10, must be able to demonstrate,” an analysis published by the Project on Government Oversight (PGO) said.

Air Force leadership is in a difficult position, hard-pressed to replace the aging A-10 close air support attack plane with the astronomically expensive F-35. But that means successfully demonstrating that the F-35 can outperform the A-10 in a close air support fly-off.

There is no way that this test, according to the PGO article, would be able to demonstrate that.

New $32 Million US Military Logistics Hub in Kuwait Nearly Finished

The US Air Force is on the verge of completing construction of yet another military logistics facility in the Middle East, dubbed appropriately “Cargo City.” The airfield will support the US’ military operations in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, the goals and end dates of which remain elusive.

Adjacent to Kuwait International Airport, US crews have dug through Kuwaiti soil to install new communications cables and antenna systems that will enable both the US and Kuwaiti air forces to operate out of Cargo City, which will be the main aerial debarkation point in the Middle East, the US Air Force's 386th Expeditionary Wing announced in a July 5 news release.

The construction of the $32 million logistics hub has taken place during a time of "massive expansion" at Kuwait International Airport, the release notes.

Trump Demands NATO Nations Raise Military Spending to 4% of GDP

Those expecting President Trump to make a stir at the NATO summit with demands for more military spending did not disappoint, as he not only demanded all member nations increase spending to 2% of their GDP immediately, but then pushed for them to ratchet up to 4%.

This stunned many, as the 2% demand is often repeated and met by a handful of NATO countries in the first place. No NATO nation is spending 4% of their GDP on their military, meaning this is a demand for precipitous spending increases alliance-wide.

Needless to say, the 4% is going to be a non-starter for most. Nations like Germany balked at increases to 2%, having no enemies on their borders and large economies. Expecting Germany to more than triple their military spending chasing this new level is even more unrealistic.

Lockheed to double Patriot missile production as orders explode

Lockheed Martin is planning to double its most advanced Patriot missile’s production in the coming years to deal with exploding orders of the weapon from the U.S. Army and its allies, according to a company executive.

The U.S. Army has dramatically increased its Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement, or PAC-3 MSE, orders to not just account for full-rate production of the missile but to increase the stockpile on hand as operations overseas continue to eat up the inventory.

The MSE version has a larger, dual-pulse solid-rocket motor and larger control fins that double the missile’s reach and improve performance against evolving ballistic and cruise missiles.

Meanwhile, several new customers abroad have joined the ranks of Patriot air and missile defense owners to include Poland, Romania and Sweden this year. This includes the purchase of a number of the MSE missiles as part of the initial order.

Second Zumwalt Destroyer Needs New Engine After Turbine Blades Damaged in Sea Trials

Zumwalt-class destroyer Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001) will need to have a main turbine engine replaced before the ship can sail to San Diego for its combat system activation, after suffering damage to the turbine blades during acceptance trials, the Program Executive Officer for Ships told USNI News.

Rear Adm. William Galinis said today that Monsoor remained in Bath, Maine, for a post-delivery availability and that, “regrettably, coming off her acceptance trials we found a problem with one of the main turbine engines that drives one of the main generators; we’re having to change it out. So we’re working very closely with Bath Iron Works, with Rolls-Royce to get that engine changed out before she leaves Bath later this fall and sails to San Diego to start her combat system activation availability next year.”

But the three governments have differing approaches. The U.S. Joint Artificial Intelligence Center aims to apply lessons from an Air Force pilot project to other military services, while the Chinese approach fuses civilian and military research and Russia’s efforts are closely directed from the Kremlin.

Caroline Glick: NATO Is the Author of Its Own Demise

One of the interesting aspects of the hysteria is that NATO’s supporters never seem to think it is necessary to explain why it would be a bad idea to end the alliance. In a spate of interviews ahead of the summit, NATO Ambassador Kay Bailey Hutchinson enumerated the many ways that Russia threatens Europe and U.S. interests. But while the threats she mentioned – political subversion through social media, nerve agent attacks in Great Britain, support for Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, violations of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) treaty, and annexation of Crimea – are all major threats, they are not the main threats that the U.S. faces today. Moreover, NATO has been ineffective in confronting these malign actions by Russia.

NATO’s ineffectiveness ought to be the key issue of discussion when considering its future. But to date, that weakness has been largely overlooked in the rush to blame Trump for allegedly destroying America’s alliances.

BEX ALERT - Top Iranian general: Forces in Syria ‘awaiting orders’ to destroy Israel

In a recent speech, the deputy commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) boasted that the “Islamic army in Syria” in the Golan Heights was awaiting orders to eradicate the “evil regime” of Israel.

He also said the Tehran-backed Hezbollah terror group had 100,000 missiles aimed at Israel.

“We are creating might in Lebanon because we want to fight our enemy from there with all our strength,” he stated. “Hezbollah today has tremendous might on the ground that can on its own break the Zionist regime. The Zionist regime has no strategic-defensive depth.”

In the speech for the anti-Israel al-Quds Day in June, translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Hossein Salami said that the dangers Israel faces today are greater than at any time in history.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If MEMRI allegedly translated this, I would be reasonably sure that the translation has been conjured to misrepresent everything the guy said.

But what we can expect, this having gone out from the TIMESOFISRAEL.com, will be a false flag to be blamed on Iran, and soon.

For Peace With Putin, End America’s Pointless Wars

The upcoming summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin is an overdue opportunity for the American president’s next bold peace initiative. It is time for the U.S. to stop its wasteful wars, and Russia can be a constructive partner to this end.

The mainstream press on both sides of the Atlantic will howl against any agreement between Trump and Putin—no matter what’s in it. So why not take steps that the American public will instinctively understand and that will provide the support for Trump to end America’s failed interventions? Besides what are his opponents going to do? Vilify him for seeking peace and starting the process of healing the many wounds of the wars? The American people are not fooled by false claims that Trump is soft on terrorism; they are aware that U.S. military interventions oftentimes can—and do—fuel terrorism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Crimea was never "annexed"; after the uprising which threw Yanokovych under the proverbial bus, and brought Poroshenko into power, the Crimean people did two things, both ensrhined in the UN charter.

The Crimean government, post-putsch, held a free and fair referendum of their people, asking if they wanted to stay in Ukraine, or petition the Russian Federation to join it. Overwhelmingly, the Crimean people voted to petition the Russian Federation to join it, and the petition was accepted by the Russian Federation.

There’s Nothing the U.S. Navy Can Do to Avoid a Submarine Gap

In 2018, the U.S. Navy has finally begun to come to terms with a long-term problem that has been decades in the making.

The fleet has too few attack submarines. And arresting the growing shortfall — never mind reversing it — could prove too expensive.

The Navy needs 66 nuclear-powered attack and guided-missile submarines according to a 2016 assessment by then-Navy secretary Ray Mabus. But in mid-2018 the sailing branch possessed just 56 attack and guided-missile boats — SSNs and SSGNs, respectively, in Navy parlance.

The current force includes 13 Virginia-class vessels, 36 boats of the Los Angeles class, three Seawolfs and four former Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarines that, in the early 2000s, the Navy converted into SSGNs carrying non-nuclear Tomahawk cruise missiles.

EU3 to open trade with Iran independent of US dollar: Russia FM

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the three major European signatories to a landmark nuclear deal with Iran agreed to establish trade ties with Iran independent of the US dollar.

Since the United States' unilateral move in May to withdraw from the nuclear accord, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), European companies are under mounting pressure from Washington to cut business ties with Tehran.

US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that Washington was walking away from the nuclear agreement and that he plans to reinstate US nuclear sanctions on Iran and impose "the highest level" of economic bans on the Islamic Republic.

Under the JCPOA, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.

Lavrov said on Monday that the decision by France, Germany and Britain would mainly concern small and medium-sized companies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yet more brilliant, unintended consequences from the US withdrawl from the P5+1 deal with Iran!!

And if these people are not going to be trading in the US dollar for Iranian oil, what is the US going to do, go to war with Europe AND Russia, AND Iran?!?

Chinese "Laser AK-47" Field Test Video Seeks To Silence Skeptics

To convince skeptics and naysayers the Chinese company that was the focus of international headlines after unveiling its “laser AK-47” that it claimed can set fire to a target from nearly a kilometer away has released a video of the weapon being tested as proof of its capability.

As we highlighted, among the first to call bullshit on the claims published in a South China Morning Post report detailing the ZKZM-500 produced by the Xian Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences was a US military and veteran website.

After all, the original report touted the weapon could "burn through clothes in a split second… If the fabric is flammable, the whole person will be set on fire. The pain will be beyond endurance," according to a Chinese weapons expert cited.

America First, Helsinki, And Trump's Existential Threat To The Empire

The major – perhaps only – redeeming virtue of the Donald’s ersatz campaign platform was his clear intent to seek a rapprochement with Russia, revamp America’s commitments to NATO and other cold war relics and to discard "Regime Change" as the core tenant of foreign policy. In essence, "America First" was to become the new route to domestic security and safety.

Those eminently sensible notions struck the Deep State’s raison d’etre to the quick during the campaign; and by hook or crook, the Donald’s rapid fire actions toward these objectives since April have induced a palpable shock in the Imperial City.

Clearly he means to withdraw America’s 29,000 military hostages now stationed in South Korea in return for some sort of peace treaty, economic normalization and denuclearization arrangement with Kim Jong-un.

Book Review - Losing Military Supremacy: The Myopia of American Strategic Planning by Andrei Martyanov

The fact that the US is facing a profound crisis, possibly the worst one in its history, is accepted by most observers, except maybe the most delusional ones.

When speaking of this crisis, most people will mention the deindustrialization, the drop in real income, the lack of well-paid jobs, healthcare, crime, immigration, pollution, education, and a myriad of other contributing factors. But of all the aspects of the “American dream”, the single most resilient one has been the myth of the US military as “the finest fighting force in history”.

Americans have no experience of real warfare (that is warfare in defense of their own land, family and friends) at all. For Americans warfare is killing the other guy in his own country, preferably from afar or above, while making a ton of money in the process. For Russians, warfare is simply about surviving at any and all cost. The difference couldn’t be greater.

Leaked Chinese Memo Warns Of "Thucydides Trap" With US, "War Is Unavoidable"

A series of leaked internal documents reveal that China's military reforms are aimed at allowing Beijing to "manage a crisis, contain a conflict, win a war" and overtake the United States in military strength, according to the Express.

The leaked documents were published by the Central Military Commission in February for the purpose of spreading President Xi Jinping’s “thought on strengthening the armed forces”.

If the reforms go ahead, they will lead to heightened tensions with China’s neighbouring countries, including Japan, in the East and South China Seas and the US. -Express

“As we open up and expand our national interests beyond borders, we desperately need a comprehensive protection of our own security around the globe,” read the leaked documents, which adds that a strong military is the best way to "escape the obsession that war is unavoidable between an emerging power and a ruling hegemony".

Webmaster's Commentary:

War with China, by the US, at this point, could well be devastatingly horrific for this country; and I say that, because the US military, at this point in its existence, doesn't have the troop strength, the money, the manufacturing, or the troop strength to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war with China.

And the question which must be asked is, knowing how greatly China has improved its weaponry and ocean and air military capabilities against those of the US, why has this been allowed to happen by subsequent administrations, and put our military development in these areas behind the proverbial 8 ball?!?

Israel blames Hamas for deaths of children its soldiers killed

Israeli forces shot 22-year-old Muhammad Abu Halima in the chest, killing him, during protests east of Gaza City on Friday.

Nearly 400 people were injured along Gaza’s eastern boundary on the 15th consecutive week of the Great March of Return demonstrations. Nearly 60 were wounded with live ammunition, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

On Wednesday the health ministry announced that Mahmoud Majid al-Gharableh, 16, had succumbed to his wounds after being shot in the head on 14 May, which saw the highest number of fatalities in a single day since the launch of the protests in late March.

Al-Gharableh is the 20th child among the nearly 150 Palestinians reported killed by Israeli forces in Gaza during that period, the vast majority of them during protests. More than 4,000 others have been wounded by live fire.

Crude propaganda
Israel has resorted to crude propaganda to deflect blame for the deaths of Palestinian boys and girls hit by bullets fired by its soldiers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These statements are complete BS, on the part of the Israeli military and government.

Lying to the people of Israel, and to the people of the world, just isn't going to work any more; this is a multi-faceted genocide against the Palestinian people, and the Israelis and the world know it!

Yemen on Brink of Catastrophe as U.N. Envoy Pushes for Truce: U.S. backing of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates could be enabling the disaster.

top U.N. diplomat is trying to broker a truce between warring factions in Yemen as aid groups and country experts warn of a brewing humanitarian catastrophe.

Martin Griffiths, the U.N. special envoy for Yemen, is visiting in the capital of Sanaa to mediate between government forces and Houthi rebels, whose three-year war is seen as a proxy for a broader conflict between a U.S.-allied Arab coalition on one side and Iran on the other.

The United Arab Emirates, which backs Yemen’s government alongside Saudi Arabia, has sent forces to the Houthi-held city of Hodeida, whose port supplies the country with 70 percent of its humanitarian and commercial goods.

Aid groups fear that a battle there could make the port inaccessible to the rest of the country, where some 8.4 million people are on the brink of starvation and millions more rely on humanitarian aid.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I sincerely doubt that Martin Griffiths will be allowed to succeed here, in stopping the fighting.

And I say this, because, like the General in the film "Avatar", the US, UAE and Saudi leadership want to create a crater in the memory holes of the Yemeni people so painfully huge, that they never rise up in this manner again, ever.

And if that means genocide through air and ground attacks, starvation, disease, and amputations on toddler's legs from war wounds, with no anaesthesia, terrific! Bring it!

That appears to be your current view of what is, and should be happening, in Yemen, in the eyes of these men, and their military.

But I would like to politely, quietly, and peacefully suggest to the Butcher of Yemen, AKA, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Salman, the UAE president Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and to President Trump, the world is watching here.

IF you choose not to allow a negotiated peace here move forward, after all the war crimes you have collectively inflicted on the peole of Yemen over the last 3 years, the world will be condemning outright what you are doing here, and history will remember you all as war criminals, but nothing more.

And to Ivanka Trump and Melania Trump, two very smart women to whom the President does pay attention: please show President Trump the following images of what US enabled Saudi war crimes look like in Yemen; I don't think the rest of his advisors have shown him these images, and I think he needs to see them.

Images: Yemeni children killed by Saudi Bombing Runs

And no, ladies; these images have not been photoshopped to make them appear to be more gruesome than they already are.

Raytheon Is Developing A 100kW Tactical Laser For The US Army

Raytheon is developing a mobile 100 kW laser weapon system under the U.S. Army’s $10 million High Energy Laser Tactical Vehicle Demonstration (HEL TVD) program contract. With the Pentagon flush with cash from the Trump administration, laser weapon systems have been a significant focus regarding research and development before the next round of global hybrid conflicts.

In a recent news release, Raytheon said the 100 kW laser would be mounted on a Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV).

“The beauty of this system is that it’s self-contained,” said Roy Azevedo, vice president of Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Systems at Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems business unit.

As Azevedo adds, “multi-spectral targeting sensors, fiber-combined lasers, power and thermal sub-systems are incorporated in a single package. This system is being designed to knock out rockets, artillery or mortar fire, or small drones."

Craig Murray: No Need For NATO

A NATO summit approaches that brings Donald Trump to Europe and then on to these [British] shores, and brings the usual clamour for more of the taxpayers’ money to be given to arms manufacturers.

Yet NATO is a demonstrably useless institution.

It’s largest ever active military deployment, for 12 years in Afghanistan, resulted in military defeat throughout 80% of the country, the installation of a pocket regime whose scrip does not run further than you can throw the scrip, and a vast outflow of heroin to finance the criminal underworld throughout NATO countries.

Look at this chart closely, and marvel at the fact that the NATO occupation began in early 2002.

THIS IS WHAT WAR PROPAGANDA LOOKS LIKE IN THE AGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

I’ve been noticing videos going viral the last few days, some with millions of views, about Muslim women bravely fighting to free themselves from oppression in the Middle East. The videos, curiously, are being shared enthusiastically by many Republicans and pro-Israel hawks, who aren’t traditionally the sort of crowd you see rallying to support the civil rights of Muslims. What’s up with that?

Well, you may want to sit down for this shocker, but it turns out that they happen to be women from a nation that the US war machine is currently escalating operations against. They are Iranian.

Incoming Mexican president to seek negotiated peace in drug war

Mexican President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s transition team unveiled a plan on Friday to shake up the fight against crime, including reduced jail time but stiffer controls on weapons, as the country reels from a militarized drug war.

The concept of “transitional justice” is part of the incoming government’s integral security strategy, Olga Sanchez, Lopez Obrador’s proposed interior minister, told Reuters in an interview before her team unveiled the plan.

Transitional justice typically involves leniency for those who admit guilt, truth commissions to investigate atrocities and the granting of reparations for some victims.

“Not only will it be amnesty, it will be a law to reduce jail time,” Sanchez said.

“We will propose decriminalization, create truth commissions, we will attack the causes of poverty, we will give scholarships to the youth and we will work in the field to get them out of the drug situation,” she said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wish President Obrador all the luck in the world in these efforts, as the people of both Mexico and the US border states, have been terrorized by this drug war, for far too long.

SOUTH SYRIAN REBELS AGREE SURRENDER DEAL, ASSAD TAKES CROSSING

South Syrian rebels agreed to give up arms in a Russian-brokered ceasefire deal on Friday, rebel sources said, surrendering Deraa province to the government in another major victory for President Bashar al-Assad and his Russian allies, reports Reuters.

The Syrian government recovered the Nassib border crossing with Jordan, held by rebels for three years, state media reported, after an assault in insurgent territory along the frontier backed by Russian air strikes.

A state television correspondent said the rebels had agreed to hand over heavy and medium weapons in all the towns and cities included in the surrender deal.

Rebel sources said Russia would guarantee the safe return of civilians who fled the government offensive in the biggest exodus of the war, with 320,000 people uprooted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Good on the Russians for having negotiated this deal; they have saved a lot of future bloodshed by getting the rebels to surrender, and at this point, are really looking like the "Adults in the Room" when it comes to Syrian geopolitics.
