Tar-like substance halts swimming in SC river
South Carolina health officials have banned swimming in parts of a major river after regulators found a gooey, tar-like substance in river mud.
The State newspaper in Columbia reports that signs advising people not to swim in part of the Congaree River went up on Friday.
