US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Thursday that the US would not "say yes or no" to an Israeli military strike on Iran. In an interview with Yahoo News and Politico, she also said that Iran's answer to the incentives package offered by world powers “is not a really serious answer”, and warned that new economic sanctions were the next likely step if the country continued to refuse to freeze its nuclear program.
The Iranians are only enriching their uranium 3%, which is consistent with creating a nuclear power plant, not a weapons program, as so many stories in the English versions of Israeli news articles love to ignore.
And Iran is not going to attack Israel militarily, because they know that Israel has nuclear weapons, and don't - thank you - want to be on the receiving end of a nuclear attack.
The people in the government in Iran are absolutely not stupid.
At the end of the day, engagement - rather than economic isolation - will be the key to a much more peaceful Middle East.
