THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"We may have to resort to arms in the future, as we have in the past. We may have to use them to prevent atomic war from being launched against us. But let us have the wisdom to realize that the use of force is a sign of weakness on a higher plane, and that a policy based primarily on recourse to arms will sooner or later fail." -- Charles Lindbergh, Of Flight and Life, 1948

Leftover Synaptics debugger puts a keylogger on HP laptops

For the second time this year, HP has had to patch its laptops after a security researcher found a driver-level keylogger – and this time, other laptop-makers might have to check their own products.

The debug trace was in the Synaptics Touchpad driver used almost across-the-board in HP laptops, and while it is turned off by default, a registry entry could turn it on. While few home users would be likely to turn it on, it would be a tasty exploit for RAT (remote access trojan) herders.

US military operations overseas lead resurgence of global arms sales

The research revealed last year marked the end of five consecutive years of decline with a 1.9 percent rise in the sale of arms globally. The number represents an increase of 38 percent since 2002. The SIPRI report covers the top 100 companies manufacturing weapons and offering military services.

The growth in arms sales was expected and is driven by the implementation of new national major weapons programs, ongoing military operations in several countries and persistent regional tensions that are leading to increased demand for weapons,” the report states.

Trump Risks Uniting the Entire Arab World Against the US

President Trump and the Israeli government will have foreseen and discounted a Palestinian “day of rage” and protests among Muslims everywhere in the wake of the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and plans to move its embassy there. They assume that this will all blow over because US allies such as the rulers of Saudi Arabia, UAE and Egypt will be satisfied with pro-forma protests, and the Palestinians are too weak to do anything except demonstrate ineffectively.

Jerusalem, the Capital of Apartheid

By acknowledging Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, President Trump has demonstrated a genuinely deep historical insight. Even if Israel itself had claimed any other city as its capital – be it Tel-Aviv, where Israel’s declaration of independence took place in 1948; or Hebron, where once Abraham bought a graveyard, and where nowadays a few hundred Jewish settlers terrorize hundreds of thousands of Palestinians; or even Vilnius, once known as “Lithuania’s Jerusalem” for its prosperous Jewish community (Israelis now parrot that “every people has a right to choose its own capital”, so why not?) – the leader of the free world would have been correct in pointing at Jerusalem as the true and genuine capital of the Israeli Apartheid.

Since the fall of the South African Apartheid in 1994, no capital – in fact, no other city on the globe – has been divided into 60% first-class full citizens and 40% second-class “residents”>>>

Florida rally cheers when Republican predicts Trump’s Jerusalem embassy decision may usher in Armageddon

A conservative politician at President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Pensacola, Florida suggested that the president’s controversial decision to move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem may usher in the biblical end times.

Republican state Senator Doug Broxson represents the Florida Panhandle in the legislature and gave an introductory speech welcoming President Trump to Florida.

“Now, I don’t know about you, but when I heard about Jerusalem — where the King of Kings [applause] where our soon coming King is coming back to Jerusalem, it is because President Trump declared Jerusalem to be capital of Israel,” Sen. Broxson predicted.

That was the only jaw-dropping line of the speech.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I had a Jean-Luc Picard double facepalm, at velocity, upon reading this.

He certainly played to his base, on this; unfortunately, what he, and his brother and sister Republicans, are most likely to reap from this is World War III, created, in large part by Israel's hubristic treatment of all their Muslim neighbors, and the Palestinians in the occupied East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.

EXCLUSIVE – Jackie Mason on Gloria Allred: She Makes Hillary Clinton Sound Honest

Comic legend Jackie Mason slammed lawyer and activist Gloria Allred as “the only person in the world that can make Hillary Clinton sound like an honest human being.”

Israeli police target ultra-Orthodox protesters with weapon developed against Palestinians, and it stinks

Last week, the roof of Ma’alot Hatorah Yeshiva, which is associated with the so-called Jerusalem Faction – a radical Ashkenazi Haredi, or ultra-Orthodox, group in Jerusalem – was full of clothing hung out there by the students. “The place smells like a carcass, you can’t go near it,” one of the students says, adding that he is still recovering from the aftermath of a demonstration against the draft of Haredim in central Jerusalem.

The stench was caused by a weapon called the “Skunk,” a liquid compound that has become one of the main means used in recent weeks by the police against the religious demonstrators, who are protesting the detention of draft-dodging members of their community. The smell of the spray can stick to the body for days.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF this chemical has been signed off on by the Israeli government for use against their own, God only knows what horrors await Palestinian protestors angry with President Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Israeli soldiers filmed harassing schoolchildren in occupied Hebron (VIDEO)

Footage shot in Hebron in occupied Palestinian territory shows Israeli soldiers routinely harassing teachers and schoolchildren on a number of occasions. Rights activists say it is part of a state policy aimed at forcing Palestinians to leave the city.
The incidents shown in the video were recorded in October and November by activists attached to B’Tselem, an Israel-based human rights group, near the Ziad Hamuda Jaber Elementary School for Boys, where some 300 pupils are educated. The facility is located in the Wadi al-Nasarah neighborhood of Hebron. Around 50 meters from the neighborhood is a road leading to the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Arba – the first that was established in Hebron after the city was occupied by Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is thoroughly predictable behavior from a wretchedly aparthied, self-proclaimed theocracy with nuclear weapons.

That thumpa-thumpa sound you are hearing from that part of the world, is from some of the early founders of Israel, turning over in their graves at this horrific IDF behavour against innocent Palestnian school children.

Wrecks of Japanese and U.S. warships — including first American vessel to fire shot in WWII — found off Philippines

The sunken remains of five Japanese and two U.S. warships — including the vessel that fired the first American shot of World War II — have been found off the Philippines, a team of deep sea explorers funded by billionaire Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Paul Allen have announced.

Released earlier this week, ahead of the anniversary of Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, underwater footage shows one of the ships is the USS Ward, the destroyer that fired the first American shot in the war on the morning of the surprise attack, just outside Pearl Harbor. Its second shot sank a Japanese midget submarine.

Briefing reporters Thursday aboard the research vessel Petrel, docked in the port city of Surigao on the northernmost tip of Mindanao island, the team also presented images of what are believed to be wrecks of the Japanese warships Yamashiro, Fuso, Yamagumo, Asagumo and Michishio, which were found between Nov. 22 and 29 on the Surigao Strait seabed.

Egyptian Muslim leader rejects meeting with U.S. Pence over Jerusalem: statement

One of Egypt’s top Muslim leaders, the Imam of Al Azhar mosque, rejected a meeting requested by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence in protest against a U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Al Azhar said in a statement on Friday.

Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb had rejected a request from the United States for Pence to meet him on Dec. 20 at Al Azhar saying President Donald Trump must reverse his decision on Jerusalem.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly don't blame the guy for rejecting a meeting with Pence. Pence may wind up with a trip to the Middle East, and other than Israeli leaders, may well have no one who wants to meet with him.

And the true repercussions against the US for President Trump's announcement about Jerusalem being Israel's capital have not even started.

US forces could potentially lose next war to Russia or China, warns sobering Rand report

U.S. defense modernization efforts are "failing to keep pace" when compared with its two big adversaries, and American forces are "poorly postured to meet key challenges in Europe and East Asia," according to a starkly worded new report from think-tank Rand.

As tensions with North Korea heighten, Rand's 190-page report, entitled "U.S. Military Capabilities and Forces for a Dangerous World," also discussed war scenarios with NATO-Russia involving the Baltic states. It also broke down a possible U.S.-China clash over Taiwan and gaps in existing U.S. capabilities.

With those factors in mind, the Rand report's authors said that the nation's armed forces are "insufficiently trained and ready" when looking at the active service components. That assessment comes despite the U.S. military presence in several regions of the world, and ongoing anti-terrorism missions and the war in Afghanistan, which is nearing its 20th year.

'Worst Military Fiasco': US Media Reveals Details of Deadly Niger Operation

BuzzFeed News reported Friday, citing sources, that the deaths of eight soldiers, including four US servicemen, could have been avoided if the US military mission in October at the village of Tongo Tongo near the Malian border had been better planned.

BuzzFeed News described this deadly incident as the "the worst military fiasco under the Trump administration — in which four US soldiers were killed alongside four Nigerians by Islamist militants — was the result of reckless behavior by US Special Forces."

Senior US officials privy to the matter told the US media outlet that the "fiasco" came after US soldiers with alleged inadequate reconnaissance support and a lack of ammunition rushed into a tightly-secured hotbed of high-ranking Daesh militants. Buzzfeed News additionally revealed that a number of further "negligent" actions during the mission provided Daesh gunmen with a deadly dominance in accidental combat.

Tillerson: 'Status of J'lem not final'

United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Friday the "status of Jerusalem was not final" and that it will be some time before the US is able to move its embassy to from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, pursuant to President Donald Trump's speech earlier this week recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and announcing the planned embassy move.

Any final decision on the status of Jerusalem will depend on negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, Tillerson said, appearing to add nuance to President Trump's decision.

"With respect to the rest of Jerusalem the president ... did not indicate any final status for Jerusalem," Tillerson said, speaking at a news conference in Paris alongside French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This, Mr. Tillerson, is pure and utter grade-A bovine excrement; no words you can possibly utter can undo the lethal damage to any possibility of a two state solution your boss created with his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel last week.

Look for a regional, if not a world war, to evolve from his statement Wednesday, and it will be a war in which the US government is bound, lock-step, in defense of Israel.

44,000 US Troops on ‘Unknown’ Deployments Worldwide

When the Pentagon wants to mislead the public about where US troops are, generally speaking, they just lie. Yet sometimes the number of troops is just too big to claim as a rounding error, and questions start happening.

This week, the focus is on over 44,000 US military personnel deployed to “unknown,” which immediately raises red flags, because that’s not a place. Pentagon officials, however, say there is “no good way” to describe where they are.

Pentagon spokesman Col. Rob Manning, on the one hand, presented this as an “operational security” and “denying the enemy any advantage,” including, it seems providing any specifics on who “the enemy” at this point even is.

According to the GAO's Comptroller General, "Journal vouchers are summary-level accounting adjustments made when balances between systems cannot be reconciled. Often these journal vouchers are unsupported, meaning they lack supporting documentation to justify the adjustment or are not tied to specific accounting transactions…. For an auditor, journal vouchers are a red flag for transactions not being captured, reported, or summarized correctly."

Trump Team Didn’t Just Collude with Israel, Kushner was Acting as Foreign Agent for Tel Aviv

Mehdi Hassan from The Intercept writes:
“… Why aren’t more members of Congress or the media discussing the Trump transition team’s pretty brazen collusion with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to undermine both U.S. government policy and international law? Shouldn’t that be treated as a major scandal? Thanks to Mueller’s ongoing investigation, we now know that prior to President Donald Trump’s inauguration, members of his inner circle went to bat on behalf of Israel, and specifically on behalf of illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, behind the scenes and in opposition to official U.S. foreign policy. That’s the kind of collusion with a foreign state that has gotten a lot of attention with respect to the Kremlin – but colluding with Israel seems to be of far less interest, strangely.”

Honduras opposition demands 'rigged' vote be canceled

Honduras's leftwing opposition is demanding a presidential election held two weeks ago be voided and its results annulled, alleging it was "rigged" in favor of incumbent President Juan Orlando Hernandez.

The Alliance Against the Dictatorship coalition backing Hernandez's chief rival in the poll, Salvador Nasralla, lodged the demand late Friday with the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.

Both Hernandez and Nasralla claimed victory after the November 26 election.

The electoral tribunal has not declared a winner, though the complete results it has released show Hernandez scoring a slender advantage over Nasralla -- despite an initial count putting Nasralla comfortably in the lead.

Vaccine Industry in Panic as New Study Reveals Why Flu Shots Don’t Work

The flu shot is a quack science medical hoax. While some vaccines do confer immunization effectiveness, the flu shot isn’t one of them. Recent studies, for example, have proven that flu shots sharply weaken immunity in subsequent years following immunization. In some years, the flu shot viral strains are completely wrong, offering no immunity at all to influenza strains circulating in the world. Even when flu shots are the “right” strain, flu vaccine insert sheets readily admit the shots have not been subjected to double blind placebo controlled studies, and there is no legitimate scientific evidence whatsoever that supports the claim that each year’s flu vaccine confers meaningful immunity. (See photo of the Flulaval vaccine insert sheet, below.)

The U.S. Media Yesterday Suffered its Most Humiliating Debacle in Ages: Now Refuses All Transparency Over What Happened

FRIDAY WAS ONE of the most embarrassing days for the U.S. media in quite a long time. The humiliation orgy was kicked off by CNN, with MSNBC and CBS close behind, with countless pundits, commentators and operatives joining the party throughout the day. By the end of the day, it was clear that several of the nation’s largest and most influential news outlets had spread an explosive but completely false news story to millions of people, while refusing to provide any explanation of how it happened.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This behaviour, on the part of CNN and the other corporate presstitutes, is nothing new; when a story does not follow the agenda of the deep state, it is falsified, or just not reported alltogher.

Expect no truth whatsoever from the corporate presstitutes or whorespondents; you have to find it out for yourself, online, and make the determinations about what is real, and what is fake news, on your own.

How clever of the Defence Ministry to tell Chancellor Philip Hammond to pay his overdue bills if he wants to carry on flying in RAF planes.

The only problem with the plan is that Mr Hammond will simply whisk the cash out of your pocket and mine, and carry on as before, sinking into the leather seats of Her Majesty’s executive jets and avoiding the normal horrors of travel.

SIMON WALTERS: Outsider Gavin Williamson is a man in a hurry and has his sights zeroed in on Number 10

Just a month ago the idea of Gavin Williamson succeeding Theresa May if, as many expect, she stands down as Prime Minister after Britain leaves the EU in March 2019, would have been dismissed as a joke.

Few had heard of him until he replaced Defence Secretary Michael Fallon who was forced to resign last month over sexual harassment claims.

But the moment Williamson got his feet under his MoD desk he launched a one-man publicity blitz: he picked a public fight with Chancellor Philip Hammond over defence cuts, saved two military dogs from being put down and last week said all Britons who had fought for ISIS should be killed.

Bitcoins Bulgarian police seized from an 'organised crime gang' would now pay off a FIFTH of the country's national debt after value rises by 600% in six months

Bulgarian police have seized enough Bitcoins to pay off a fifth of the country's national debt after the value surged by 600% in half a year.
Officers are said to have confiscated hundreds of thousands of units of the virtual currency worth $500million from an organised crime gang in May.

That is enough to pay off almost a quarter of Bulgaria's national debt, although it is not known what the authorities have done with the currency.

BIG LIST OF GOP LAWMAKERS WHO WANT TO SAVE OBAMA'S AMNESTY

A group of 34 House Republicans are pressuring Speaker Paul Ryan to give a Christmas present to the roughly 800,000 young people who entered the country illegally and were granted special status by former President Obama’s DACA program.

DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a policy enacted in 2012 by a stroke of Obama’s pen.

At the time, most Republicans derided the policy as unconstitutional while Democrats championed it as the right thing to do for children brought to the United States illegally by a parent “through no fault of their own.”

Now, 34 GOP House members have come out of the shadows and seen the light of Obama’s policy, and they want it codified by Christmas, according to a letter they sent to Ryan on Dec. 5.

But there’s a movement afoot to call the 34 to account.

THOUSANDS MARCH IN TEL AVIV TO PROTEST AGAINST NETANYAHU, CORRUPTION, AGAIN

Thousands of Israelis protested in Tel Aviv on Saturday for the second consecutive week against government corruption and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is under criminal investigation over allegations of abuse of office.

Police estimated the number of demonstrators at about 10,000 and they followed last Saturday’s demonstration, which was by far the largest of the recent weekly anti-corruption protests when an estimated 20,000 people participated.

The protests have been sparked by corruption allegations against Netanyahu, who denies any wrongdoing. The four-term leader is suspected of involvement in two cases.

The first involves receiving gifts from wealthy businessmen and the second involves negotiating a deal with a newspaper owner for better coverage in return for curbs on a rival daily.

If charged, he would come under heavy pressure to resign or could call an election to test whether he still had a mandate to govern.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Netanyahu does not care about his alleged "mandate to govern"; all he cares about is military power, and is obsessed with "legacy", whatever that means to him.

IF there is a "snap election" in Israel, expect it to be more crooked than is a dog's hind leg, in order to keep him in power.

"They should understand that they are not wanted here, they are not part of us," the minister told the Army Radio.

Commenting on Saturday's protests in the region over US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Jewish state's capital, Lieberman said that Wadi Ara residents "have no connection with this country," adding that the riots are "intolerable."

Russian MoD: Coalition Destroyed Syrian Cities With Carpet Bombings, While Syrian Army Crushed Daesh

The Russian Defense Ministry has compared the operations against Daesh carried out by the US-led coalition and the Syrian army, which had recently announced the complete defeat of Daesh.

According to the Russian military, "in three years of its presence in Syria, the coalition only recently achieved its first ‘result’ in the fight against Daesh by destroying Raqqa along with the civilians."

The Russian ministry has further accused the US-led coalition of allowing the core Daesh terrorists to leave Raqqa, as confirmed by the BBC broadcaster, and join other jihadists near Deir ez-Zor.

P.C.Roberts: Avoiding Nuclear War Is Our First Priority

***
Trump’s election was like Reagan’s. He appealed to the people instead of to the ruling interest groups. As a high official in Reagan’s government who was aligned with Reagan’s goals to end stagflation and the Cold War, I experienced first hand the cost of going against the powerful interest groups that are accustomed to ruling. We took part of their rule away from them, but now they have taken it back. And they are now stronger than before. Essentially, Trump is powerless and is limited to expressing his frustrations on Twitter.

In my opinion, the lesson being dealt to Trump will teach any future presidential candidate not to challenge the ruling oligarchy by appealing to the American people.

This means that democracy in America is stone dead. I sometimes wonder if democracy can be revived without violent revolution, and of course revolutions can go wrong.

Are Americans capable of violent revolution? If they are not, will the greedy elites remain in control until they stumble into a nuclear war?

Buchanan: The Nutball the Neocons Wanted in NATO

What triggered this observation was an item on Page 1 of Wednesday’s New York Times that read in its entirety:

"Mikheil Saakashvili, former president of Georgia, led marchers through Kiev after threatening to jump from a five-story building to evade arrest. Page A4"

Who is Saakashvili? The wunderkind elected in 2004 in Tbilisi after a "Rose Revolution" we backed during George W. Bush’s crusade for global democracy.

During the Beijing Olympics in August 2008, Saakashvili sent his army crashing into the tiny enclave of South Ossetia, which had broken free of Georgia when Georgia broke free of Russia.

In overrunning the enclave, however, Saakashvili’s troops killed Russian peacekeepers. Big mistake.>>>

Trump Forfeits US Mideast Mediator Role, Russia Should Step In

President Donald Trump’s announcement this week that the US is henceforth recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will have many harmful repercussions for the entire Middle East.

But out of the ashes of US policy, something better can arise. Russia should step in to give badly needed leadership.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was among many world leaders who warned that Trump’s intervention will likely derail peace prospects, not just for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but for the region as a whole.

Palestinians, Arabs and Muslim nations are infuriated by what they see as Trump’s betrayal of a righteous cause for Palestinian statehood, with East Jerusalem being the future capital of that state.

By declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel, Trump is effectively pre-empting any negotiated settlement to a conflict which has raged for 70 years.
