Pentagon Pushing for More Ground Troops in Eastern Europe

Ongoing US announcements of military build-ups in Eastern Europe, nominally in response to “Russian aggression in Ukraine,” are continuing apace, despite the Ukrainian Civil War remaining in a state of ceasefire for virtually the entirety of 2015. The latest reports have the Pentagon seeking to send multiple new brigades.

Military leaders are arguing Russia’s involvement in the war against ISIS threatens to distract from the war in Ukraine, which appears to be of particular concern since the war largely doesn’t involve any fighting anymore at any rate, and says they need to keep putting troops in to “deter” Russia.

Most previous deployments in Eastern Europe have been comparatively small, with the Pentagon settling for sending a few tanks or some infantry at a time as a way of spreading out the deployments. Gen. Philip Breedlove, however, suggests this new deployment would be announced in “a couple of months” and would be quite a bit larger.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is no logical reason for the US military to be concentrating more troops and materials to Eastern Europe, unless it is using these countries as a staging area for a war against Russia.

And at that point, I would expect to see masses of troops and materials deployed.

Biggest-ever U.S. data breach hits 100 million people with bank accounts

U.S. banks and other financial institutions have suffered their largest ever data breach.

U.S. officials confirmed the hack on Tuesday while bringing charges against four men for the theft of customer data of more than 100 million people. J.P. Morgan is among the banks that were hit, the company confirmed to Bloomberg.

Hackers gained access to customer information of nine companies, according to an indictment from Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, including two newspapers. The Wall Street Journal, which announced in October that it had been hacked, is among that group.

Syrian opposition provided intel to target terrorists around besieged key airbase - Russia

Syrian government forces received intelligence on terrorist positions around the besieged Kweires airbase from opposition sources, which helped them lift the two-year blockade, the Russian Defense Ministry has revealed.

“This airfield had been surrounded by ISIS [the former name of the Islamic State terrorist group] for two years,” Major General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian defense ministry, said in a daily briefing. “Intelligence on the locations of the terrorist fire positions and support points around Kweires was provided by the Syrian opposition and cleared by the communication center in Baghdad.”

US: Sinai Plane Bomb Likely Used Military-Grade Explosives

US officials, carrying out their own investigation into the bombing of a Russian Metrojet in the Sinai Peninsula despite not having access to the crash site or any of the direct evidence, say that they BELIEVE bringing down the plane would’ve required a “military-grade” explosive, likely something along the lines of C4.

US and British officials are expressing annoyance at not having been invited to directly participate in the investigation with Russia and Egypt, and warn that they may never be given enough access to independently determine exactly what happened.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to the US and UK governments; belief is neither evidence nor proof; and if the Egyptian and Russian governments are uncomfortable giving you access to the actual forensics work going on, you have earned their distrust by consistently wanting the alleged "results" to conform to your geopolitical narrative, whether it is actually true...or not.

Just a year or so ago, Bitcoin was weird. The digital “crypto-currency” had become fairly notorious as a preferred medium of exchange for hackers, outlaws, and the most strenuous libertarians. NASA’S MAVEN Solves Mars Atmosphere Mystery

There’s already evidence that suggests at one time early in its history Mars had a thick atmosphere rich in carbon dioxide that kept the planet warm enough to allow for liquid water to flow over its surface.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is a very obvious indication of what happened to Mars' atmosphere and water. If one studies the topography of Mars, one finds the planet is slightly "dented."

In the Tharsis region the crust of Mars is bulged upward, creating the highlands which are dominated by the great volcanoes and the fractured terrain of Valles Marinaris. Looking at the opposite side of the planet one finds Hellas, an obvious impact feature of gigantic size, suggesting that Mars was "killed" by a cosmic collision of such magnitude that the atmosphere was literally splashed away.

Netanyahu has nonetheless been allowed to maintain a convenient fiction that he supports the negotiated goal of Palestinian self-determination. In reality, he has never really supported it. Thanks in large part to Netanyahu’s leadership, a Palestinian state will likely never emerge. Due to his own obstinance, as well as American indulgence, a binational state or a formalized Apartheid regime have now become the most probable remaining outcomes to this disastrous, decades-long conflict.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Astronomers spot most distant object in the solar system, could point to other rogue planets

Astronomers have found the most distant object ever in our solar system, three times farther away than Pluto. The dwarf planet, which has been designated V774104, is between 500 and 1000 kilometers across. It will take another year before scientists pin down its orbit, but it could end up joining an emerging class of extreme solar system objects whose strange orbits point to the hypothetical influence of rogue planets or nearby stars.

“We can’t explain these objects’ orbits from what we know about the solar system,” says Scott Sheppard, an astronomer at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, D.C., who announced the discovery here today at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society. V774104 currently sits 15.4 billion kilometers from the sun, or 103 astronomical units (AU) away. One AU is the distance between Earth and the sun.

Pentagon Ready to Pay for the Iraqi Civilians It Kills. Next Step: Admit It Kills Civilians.

Some 3,586 airstrikes later, the American military is finally gearing up to compensate the families of Iraqis killed by American bombs in the ISIS war.
The Pentagon is about to get a $5 million fund to pay the Iraqi families of civilians killed by American airstrikes. It’s a big change for the U.S. military, which has yet to publicly acknowledge accidentally killing or wounding any innocents in the country even after 3,586 airstrikes targeting the so-called Islamic State.

Buried deep in the annual defense budget bill, passed by the House Thursday, is $5 million set aside for the Defense Department to use in Iraq if the U.S. military harms a civilian or destroys their property.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Somehow, the notion of the reality that one cannot win what is essentially a ground war from the air, hasn't really sunk in to the mindset of Pentagon leadership.

One would think that after the debacle which was the Vietnam War, such an understanding would have permeated military thinking, but it has not.

And extrajudicial assassinations have absolutely no place in American foreign policy, period, end of discussion.

Saudi Arabia is pushing the U.N. General Assembly’s human rights committee to condemn Iranian and Russian intervention in Syria, a move that prompted complaints on Tuesday from the delegations of Iran and Syria.
The non-binding draft resolution, prepared by Saudi Arabia and co-sponsored by Qatar and other Arab nations, the United States, Britain, France and other Western powers, was presented during a meeting of the assembly’s Third Committee, which focuses on human rights.
In addition, without mentioning Russia specifically, the draft “strongly condemns all attacks against the Syrian moderate opposition and calls for their immediate cessation, given that such attacks benefit so-called ISIL (Daesh) and other terrorist groups, such as al Nusra Front.”

Syrian army enters Aleppo air base after Islamic State siege: state TV

Syrian soldiers fought their way into an air base in northern Syria on Tuesday and freed military personnel inside, state television said, after a nearly two-year siege by Islamic State insurgents at the facility.

A military source close to the government said the army was working to secure the Kweires air base in Aleppo Province, where soldiers and officers have been under attack since 2013.

It is the most high-profile victory for Syria's army since Russia launched an air campaign in support of President Bashar al-Assad on Sept. 30.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looks as though the Russians, working in concert with the Syrian Army, are slowly, but surely turning back the terrorist tide (even of the US sponsored terrorists, like ISIS!)

And with their highly sophisticated jamming equipment, the Russians have created a virtual "no fly " zone over Syria, which the US military attempts to cross at its peril.

Paul Ryan Serves Warning to Obama: 'He Can't' Close Guantanamo

Newly elected House Speaker Paul Ryan warned President Barack Obama on Tuesday against attempting to use an executive order to close the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

With the Senate following the House on Tuesday in passing a new defense spending bill that included a ban on shuttering the prison and transferring prisoners to U.S. soil, the White House is reportedly mulling the idea of using an executive order to fulfill Obama's campaign promise.

“He can't. He doesn't have the authority to do it. It's just that clear,” Ryan told With All Due Respect host Mark Halperin.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Congress does not want many of these uncharged prisoners of war out of Gitmo, because water boarding was not the worst thing that was done to these prisoners.

The United States has tortured, and outsourced torture; these men's' bodies bear horrific testimony to that reality, and that utter, contemptible hypocrisy (from a country's leadership which allegedly values democracy, human rights, and humanitarian treatment of prisoners)just cannot be allowed to be seen by the world.

It's just that simple.

Benjamin Netanyahu Defends The Israeli Occupation At Progressive Think Tank

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concluded his visit to Washington with an appearance at the Center for American Progress, where he sought to redeem himself with the Democratic Party and draw broader acceptance of the indefinite Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

When pushed on the specifics of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Netanyahu rejected the notion that Israeli settlement construction in the occupied West Bank constitutes a threat to peace. “There have been no new settlements built in the past 20 years,” he said in an attempt to differentiate between building new communities and new settlement units. “The additions are in existing communities.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Indefinite occupation; serial genocide against the Palestinians; suppressing the Palestinian rights to peaceful protest, and the IDF attacking peaceful protesters with rubber bullets; denying health care to sick Palestinians; denying the right of Palestinian children to an education; and the brisk annexation of properties in which Palestinian families have lived for generations: Netanyahu is deliberately blind and tone deaf to what the ultimate consequences of these actions will be to Israel's future.

But hopefully and ultimately, he and his ultra-right cohorts will lose the fear-mongering game with the Israeli people, who will say, "Where is the logic in these actions which can only achieve an horrifically tense armistice with the Palestinians and can tear apart at any second, rather than build a just and lasting peace?"

Just ten companies control 65% of proprietary, or intellectual property (IP)-protected, seed, but it appears that it isn’t enough that they control GM seed. If this is allowed unchecked, the time-honored tradition of growing, saving, and exchanging seed could be limited to a few corporations.

At one time the US Department of Agriculture, formed in 1862, spent roughly a third of its budget disseminating seeds to farmers across the US, but now the agency seems bent on protecting the wealth of just a few individuals running a handful of companies at the expense of a viable world food supply.

Monsanto already attempted to patent a non-GM tomato, and now Syngenta has tried to patent natural foods, even though in Europe, non-GM plants cannot be patented by law. The company obtained the rights to patent a pepper strainwhich has been developed, arguably, over millions of years.

The War on Encryption

In another move to intensify surveillance, the U.K. has announced the Investigatory Powers Bill which will prevent internet firms such as Apple and Google from offering encryption secure enough to keep the firms themselves from accessing users personal data files. The bill is apparently intended to make the job of law enforcement easier, but many are saying that aside from the security issues that will result from the move, it simply won’t work.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It won't work. As we proved at whatreallyhappened.com, it is trivial for anyone with basic programming skills to create new systems of encryption that even the NSA cannot crack! Real criminals and terrorists will have already done this, so banning strong encryption cannot stop them, only make law-abiding citizens' communications open to spying by the government ... and cyber-criminals!

Large Companies Game H-1B Visa Program, Costing the U.S. Jobs

Théo Négri, a young software engineer from France, had come up with so many novel ideas at his job at an Internet start-up in San Francisco that the American entrepreneur who hired him wanted to keep him on.
From Our Advertisers

So he helped Mr. Négri apply for a three-year work visa for foreign professionals with college degrees and specialized skills, mainly in technology and science. With his master’s degree from a French university and advanced computer abilities, Mr. Négri seemed to fill the bill.

But his application for the H-1B visa was denied, and he had to leave the United States. Back in France, Mr. Négri used his data skills to figure out why.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The reason companies are desperate for H1-B Visas is that the American education (indoctrination) system, crippled by common core, is unable to produce young people with the skills needed to keep America competitive in the modern global marketplace! American kids know what they are supposed to believe in and how to be politically correct, but they don't know how to actually think, analyze, solve problems, or innovate, because those skills have become a threat to the US ruling class.

Republican Candidates Rip the Fed ... Again

Ordinarily we would post something on a different topic given that our first article examined central banking. However, this report (see above) on the Republic debate is important to note, as it provides further evidence of opposition to a central Fed meme – namely that the Fed is neither competent nor providing a necessary service.

Almost a half-decade ago, we announced the Federal Reserve as a credible monetary facility was in significant difficulty and was losing support of the citizenry it was supposed to serve. Since then we've seen nothing to change that conclusion. The Fed as an institution is certainly in trouble and continues to lose credibility.

Destruction of al-Aqsa is no conspiracy theory

Demolishing Arab and Islamic sites in Jerusalem is not unknown in Israeli policy and attitudes. In 1967, Israel razed the Moroccan Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem.

This was an architectural gem of Islamic civilization dating back to the late 12th century and had hosted some of the most important Islamic religious orders.

When Zionism appeared in Palestine, its leaders were not only trying to purchase land for settlement but also to buy what they considered to be Jewish Jerusalem.

Baron Edmond Rothschild attempted to buy the quarter at the end of the 19th century, as did the Zionist leadership under the British Mandate — to no avail. When purchasing did not work, it was taken by force during the 1967 War and demolished.

Two Israelis facing extradition to US for 'pump and dump' scam ordered kept in custody

The defendants, 31-year-old Gery Shalon and 40-year-old Ziv Orenstein, were indicted by a grand jury in New York in June, on multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit securities fraud.

Webmaster's Commentary:

They were indicted last June! But the fact that they were in Israel didn't get mentioned by the US media until now? All that time we kept hearing about how the hackers were "probably" in China!

Netanyahu urges Obama to recognize Golan Heights annexation

Israel has reportedly urged the United States to recognize Syria’s occupied Golan Heights as Israeli territory.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Look, we stole it fair and square. It's time you admit that. And we need you to pay for the equipment to get all that oil out so we can sell it to you!" -- Nodding Yahoo

Obama will probably do it, because it gives the US another vector for going after Assad, as Assad will likely retake the Golan once he and Russia have kicked out the US proxy army operating under the name of ISIS.

US recognition of Israel's annexation will "obligate" the US to defend Israel against Syria!

Two Israelis and an American busted in largest-ever heist of customers’ bank data

In e-mails released by the government, Shalon bragged that his sale of shares in one company was “a small step towards a large empire. We buy them very cheap, perform machinations, then play with them.”

He also wasn’t worried about getting caught because he was operating primarily in Israel.

“There is nothing to be afraid of in Israel,” he said.

Israel says EU is 'emboldening its enemies' with labelling plans

Binyamin Netanyahu has written a strongly worded letter to the European parliament president, Martin Schulz, voicing concerns over a proposed EU move to label products from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Netanyahu said the plan was “discriminatory” and “emboldening” those who seek to “eliminate Israel”. According to widespread reports in Israel, an announcement on labelling of settlement products is expected within days, perhaps as early as Wednesday, although late on Tuesday some sources in Brussels were suggesting a statement might be delayed.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter Implies Russia and China Are “Enemies” of America. What Next?

The weapons are more advanced; he expressed pride in that. And the former Warsaw Pact nations that were allied with the U.S.S.R. surrounding Russia, have increasingly joined NATO and become Russia’s enemies. (The U.S.S.R. terminated the Warsaw Pact, but the U.S. didn’t terminate NATO; instead, NATO with its former Warsaw Pact members increased from the 16 nations it had when the Soviet Union broke up, to the 28 nations today. And U.S. President Barack Obama and SecDef Carter want to increase that number to 29 by including Ukraine, which is on Russia’s border.)

Israeli peace activists Uri Avnry despairs as the extremist settler faction takes over the Israeli government

Israel, the state of the settlers

Many factories have left Israel proper, sold their land there for exorbitant sums and received huge government subsidies for relocating to the West Bank. They employ, of course, cheap Palestinian workers from the neighbouring villages, free from legal minimum wages or any labour laws. The Palestinians toil for them because no other work is available.

But even these “comfort” settlers become extremists, in order to survive and defend their homes, while people in Tel Aviv enjoy their cafes and theatres. Many of these old-timers already hold a second passport, just in case. No wonder the settlers are taking over the state.

The process is already well advanced. The new police chief is a kippah-wearing former settler. So is the chief of the secret service. More and more of the army and police officers are settlers. In the government and in the Knesset, the settlers wield a huge influence.

Full-House at Idaho Town Meeting on Jack Yantis Killing: "How can it be more obvious this is a crime!" Daughter of Rancher Says

There was a town hall meeting on the killing of local rancher Jack Yantis in Council, Idaho last night. The event was held at a local church, where the 'pastor' announced that recording was prohibited. However, many local reporters tweeted live as the meeting commenced. Following are a collection of all the tweets. Sherrif Ryan Zollman, whose deputies were trained by DHS, claims he's received death threats, will not step down, and will not name officers. When asked if the deputies had an AR-15, Zollman replied "It is true." Overall, people are very skeptical of the sheriff's office and the investigation into this shooting. "The government is holding all the cards and we have no knowledge," one citizen at the meeting said. Several folks raised questions about why body cams aren't on all the time of the shooting.

America's new, more 'usable', nuclear bomb in Europe

The $8 billion upgrade to the US B61 nuclear bomb has been widely condemned as an awful lot of money to spend on an obsolete weapon. As an old fashioned ‘dumb’ bomb it has no role in US or NATO nuclear doctrine, but the upgrade has gone ahead anyway, in large part as a result of lobbying by the nuclear weapons laboratories.

Here’s What Really Happened to the Idaho Rancher Who Was Killed By Police

When the death of Idaho rancher Jack Yantis was first reported, the details surrounding his case were sparse. According to the police, one of his bulls had escaped his property before getting hit by a station wagon on Highway 95. The irate bull was charging at emergency responders and police officers, who were trying to help the injured passengers that were still in the car. So the police decided to contact Yantis, and asked him to take care of his animal.

Yantis showed up to the scene with his rifle as Adams County deputies were preparing to put the bull down. An altercation ensued between Yantis and two deputies, who eventually shot him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his wife suffered a near fatal heart attack after hearing the news.

Berlin Pouring Cash into Anti-Russian Media Machine

A massive media network against Vladimir Putin is currently under construction in Eastern Europe. Not only NATO is behind this move, but also the EU, with a super-sized propaganda ministry – the “East StratCom Task Force”. The extent and the costs involved in this media war, are being disguised though many money pots. The real cost for this is too high: Europe's media is adjusting to the “guided reporting”. If western propaganda is to function well, it has to become the truth for us.

The media Cold War between the West and Russia, is getting ever hotter: NATO and the EU are expanding their propaganda offensive massively. A question by Die Linke to the Bundestag exemplifies this. The government was forced to react – the answer discloses something more.
