Two NYU Students Say They Were Racially Profiled At A Marco Rubio Event

Two journalism graduate students said they were racially profiled at a Marco Rubio town hall on Sunday in New Hampshire.
The students, who are black, attended the event with a group from New York University as part of a reporting trip to cover the days before the New Hampshire primary. The students did not have press credentials, but rather attended as part of the general public.

Sanders and Clinton Get Substantive. That's Where They Go Wrong.

Thursday night’s Democratic debate in New Hampshire was, all commentators agreed, unusually substantive. Bernie Sanders has clearly gotten the idea that he might actually win this thing, and decided it was time to actually attack Hillary Clinton, rather than gamely smiling and saying she was a nice lady, but what about Glass-Steagall?

A malicious computer program is targeting Skype users and listening in to their conversations, security experts have warned.

The Trojan, called T9000, was spotted by experts at Palo Alto Networks, who call it 'backdoor malware'.

The researchers also warned it is so sophisticated, it can hide from even the most popular anti-virus software, making it extremely difficult to detect.

#CancelTelAviv: Jenifer Lopez faces Twitter backlash over plans to perform in Israel as she is accused of 'entertaining children's killers'

Jennifer Lopez is facing a social media backlash from pro-Palestine supporters over her rumoured plans to perform in Israel for the first time in the summer.

Writing under the hashtag #CancelTelAviv, activists have been questioning her motives for wanting to gig in Tel Aviv, accusing her of 'entertaining children's killers'.

Some of the tweets were accompanied by graphic photos purportedly showing injured children in Gaza, with the caption questioning the American singer's unconfirmed decision.

'Iraq Was Invaded to Secure Israel,' Says Senator Hollings

When a prominent American political figure speaks boldly about Jewish-Zionist power, that's news. So the remarks by South Carolina's senior Senator that Iraq was invaded "to secure Israel," and that "everybody" in Washington knows it, are indeed remarkable ... Bush's motive in going to war for Israeli interests, charged Ernest "Fritz" Hollings, was to get Jewish support in election campaigns.

American Lawmakers Must Pledge to Support Israel or Risk Funding, Says Former US Member of Congress

Former US lawmaker Cynthia McKinney says every candidate for Congress must pledge to support Israel's military superiority in the region and continued large-scale US funding for the Zionist state, or risk losing the ability to raise funds for election campaigns. "If you don't sign the pledge, you don't get money," she says in this in this interview with Marzieh Hashemi, an American-born journalist who lives in Iran. "You make a commitment that you would vote to support the military superiority of Israel, that the economic assistance that Israel wants, that you would vote to provide that," she adds. If a candidate does not sign the pledge or perform accordingly, "then you do not get money to run your campaign," McKinney says. After she made the pledge public, she says, the tactic changed, but the basic requirement remained. Runtime: 4:35 mins.

No Matter Who Becomes President, Israel Wins

The next American president will almost certainly be bought and paid for by the Israel Lobby. Hillary Clinton has already declared that when she is elected president she intends to take relations with Israel "to the next level" and has also promised to invite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit on her very first day in office. It is difficult to imagine what the next level might actually be in America's already servile deference to Israeli interests so she should perhaps be careful regarding what she commits herself to do ... [Sheldon] Adelson is the Republican version of Saban. He believes that the United States should nuke Iran as a "negotiating tactic," has an estimated $23.8 billion fortune derived mostly from casinos in Las Vegas and in Asia. He is a Republican funder for those prospective candidates who promote unlimited US support for Israel.

TPP Deal Just Signed: Paves Way for Authoritarian Technocracy

Beware TPP. It's nothing more than the further formalization of the worst part of the 20th century: The warfare/welfare state.

It's just been signed in New Zealand by the 12 negotiating parties and now US President Barack Obama is pressuring Congress to get it passed quickly. Obama wants it passed so that the US will be able to "write the rules of the road in the 21st century," enabling it to shape global trade to its own advantage.

Obama is nothing but a puppet for Western banking interests that want to disguise and expand their growing global control via TPP. It will be a disaster that places multinational corporations on an equal footing with nation-states.

TPP is an authoritarian exercise that further solidifies various kinds of global "bigness" while squeezing out the average citizen.

Reports: First death from meteorite impact recorded in India

One man is dead and three injured following a reported meteorite strike in India.

Indian media report police officials saying the death was the result of an explosion on university grounds in the Southern town of Vellore that shattered windows and killed the unnamed bus driver.

If confirmed it would be the first recorded death from a meteorite strike.

Photos from the scene show members of a police bomb squad inspecting a hole perhaps three feet in diameter with debris or rubbish scattered.

Police have not found evidence of a bomb blast at the impact site.

I have shown from official data that a smart single-payer system would save so much money it would be the equivalent of eliminating the income tax for 99% of Americans.

The zeal of Bernie Sanders supporters is a mystery to many people, especially those who cringe at the word "socialist."

How, can a geriatric Brooklyn-born Jew who speaks in long, complex sentences, his hands providing the punctuation, draw bigger crowds than Donald Trump, despite claiming a tiny fraction of the mogul's TV news coverage? How could he battle Hillary Clinton to a virtual tie in Iowa, with a good chance of beating her Tuesday in New Hampshire? How could he be closing the gap with her in national polls?

Saudis provide cover for Turkey to start military operation in Syria

Danger exists that Saudi Arabia and Turkey will provide support to armed groupings fighting against the government troops of Syrian President Bashar Assad if these two countries launch a ground operation against the Islamic State terrorist organization on the territory of Syria, experts polled by TASS said on Friday.
On Thursday, a day after the Geneva talks on the Syrian settlement were suspended, Saudi Defense Minister, General Ahmed Asiri said that the armed forces of Saudi Arabia were ready for a ground operation in Syria as part of the US-led international coalition. This statement was welcomed by Pentagon Chief Ashton Carter. Saudi sources told The Guardian that thousands of special force fighters could be moved to Syria, possibly in coordination with Turkey.

Clinton's thin lead over Sanders in Iowa shrinks to 0.25

Democratic Party officials in the US state of Iowa have found new errors in the original count in Monday’s Iowa caucus where Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton narrowly beat Bernie Sanders.

The audit by the Iowa Democratic Party discovered errors in five of 14 precincts across the state from last week’s caucuses that shrink Clinton’s overall advantage to a 0.25 percent lead over Sanders.

Sanders picked up small additional totals of state delegate equivalents because of precinct mistakes in Marion, Woodbury and Poweshiek counties. Reports of discrepancies in other precincts are still being reviewed.

Not Russian op, but NATO’s incursion in Middle East to blame for Syrian crisis – Moscow

Russia’s Defense Ministry has slammed NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg, labeling as ‘nonsense’ his comments that the Russian air operation in Syria is causing tensions and undermining the peace process in the country.
The NATO Secretary General made the controversial statement on Friday when he arrived at the EU defense ministers meeting in Amsterdam.

"The intense Russia air strikes, mainly targeting opposition groups in Syria, are undermining the efforts to find a political solution to the conflict… also causing increased tensions and violations of Turkish airspace,” Stoltenberg said.

Saudi Troops Headed to Syria? Saudi-Turkey Invasion in Support of ISIS?

Russia’s aerial campaign aiding Syrian ground forces continues unrelenting, Putin committed to combating all terrorist groups until defeating or reducing them to a shadow of their peak strength – enabling government troops to contain their remnants.

A previous article cited Russian evidence, indicating possible Turkish ground incursion preparations. Earlier Russian video evidence exposed Turkish shelling of Syria’s Latakia province – whether ahead of plans to invade its territory remains to be seen.

Does Riyadh have the same intention? Weeks earlier, it set up a military coordination body with Ankara. Saudi General Ahmed Asseri said “(t)he kingdom is ready to participate in any ground operations that the (US-led) coalition may agree to carry out in Syria” – on the phony pretext of combating ISIS.

Washington created ISIS, using its fighters as imperial foot soldiers – supported by other NATO nations, Gulf States including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel and Jordan.

The Super Bowl Promotes War. NFL to Publicly Display Love for Soldiers and Weaponry

The idea that there is anything questionable about coating a sporting event in military promotion is the furthest thing from the minds of most viewers.

Super Bowl 50 will be the first National Football League championship to happen since it was reported that much of the pro-military hoopla at football games, the honoring of troops and glorifying of wars that most people had assumed was voluntary or part of a marketing scheme for the NFL, has actually been a money-making scheme for the NFL. The U.S. military has been dumping millions of our dollars, part of a recruitment and advertising budget that’s in the billions, into paying the NFL to publicly display love for soldiers and weaponry.

it turns out, buying beer at one of the biggest sporting events of the year in the newest stadium in the NFL isn't exactly cheap. Nothing else is very cheap either. A draft beer will set you back $13 or $15, depending on which size you get. A glass of wine is also $15.

Skipping the alcohol won't save you much. A "souvenir soda" is $10. Gatorade is a mere $7. The biggest crime of all: a bottle of water is $7.

Did Hitler shake hands with black 1936 Olympic hero Jesse Owens?

It has long been regarded as the greatest sporting snub in history - when Adolf Hitler stormed out of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin because Germany had been humiliated by a black man.

Or so the story goes.
But now a veteran sports reporter in Germany has come forward to claim that, though Hitler did indeed leave the stadium after the race, it was not before shaking Owens' hand.
Siegfried Mischner, 83, claims that Owens carried around a photograph in his wallet of the Fuehrer doing just that.
Owens, who felt the newspapers of the day reported 'unfairly' on Hitler's attitude towards him, tried to get Mischner and his journalist colleagues to change the accepted version of history in the 1960s.
Mischner claimed Owens showed him the photograph and told him: 'That was one of my most beautiful moments.'

Everyone in Hillary’s Inner-Circle Lawyers-Up; FBI Quickly Closing In on Hillary

Here’s the problem with Hillary's most recent version of the story… which is about the 12th version by the way: Senior officials at the FBI came out today and said the FBI does NOT even conduct “security reviews.” They conduct CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS!

As you’ll see in the video below, adding to Hillary’s nightmare is the fact that the FBI recently contacted all the members of her ‘inner, inner circle’ about her emails; every single one of them lawyered up. Current FBI Director James Comey has already threatened to take the evidence against Hillary public if Loretta Lynch at the Department of Injustice does not indict Clinton, and thus far the FBI has been silent, so that suggests even though there hasn’t been an indictment yet, the FBI still believes one to be forthcoming…

Online polls: Trump triumphant in latest GOP debate

Donald Trump easily won an online poll to pick the winner of Saturday night’s GOP presidential debate.

“Seven Republican presidential candidates took to the stage for a debate Saturday night in New Hampshire. Who do you think won?” Time magazine asked its readers.

Trump took a resounding 65 percent of the more than 50,000 votes cast by late Sunday morning in the unscientific poll.

Chris Christie and Marco Rubio, who engaged in a memorable exchange during the debate, are tied for second in the poll with 8 percent support apiece.

Ted Cruz and John Kasich follow with 7 percent each.

Four percent picked Jeb Bush and 2 percent selected Ben Carson to round out the poll.

Trump now has more than double the support of Sen. Marco Rubio, who came in second with 16 percent support.

Sen. Ted Cruz has 14 percent for third place.

Gov. John Kasich follows with 11 percent, while no other GOP candidate broke single-digit support.

One in four Germans say they back a policy to shoot unwanted illegal refugees at their borders

The Alternative for Germany (AFD) party leader Frauke Petry caused a storm a week ago when she advocated the right of border police to gun down migrants. But her comments have struck a nerve in a country being pushed to the brink by the crisis with 29 per cent of respondents in a weekend poll backing her extremist plan.

This, say observers, is proof of the greatest fear among liberal politicians - citizens pushed into the embrace of the far-right and its intolerant attitudes which brought Hitler to power in the 1930s.
