Cheney is batting zero getting support for an invasion of Iraq. The problem is that in order to invade Iraq, at least one nation with a sizable border shared with Iraq must agree to allow the invasion to originate on their side of the border. An invasion of Iraq cannot be won from the air (we learned that lesson in Vietnam), nor can it be supported from the air. There must be logistical support via the sea lanes of communications and a staging area from which to deploy/disperse ground troops. And therein lies the problem. Every nation which shares borders with Iraq has informed the United States that they will not allow an invasion of Iraq to be launched from their territory. The only exception is Kuwait, which as of this writing has not made a definitive statement one way or the other. But whether with or without Kuwait, the United States is looking at trying to land ground forces at the narrow southeastern tip of Iraq, after a long transit of the gulf. Militarily, this is a disaster in the making. Without a long broad front and the room to exploit mobile warfare doctrine, the US forces will find themselves in a bottleneck against all of Iraq's forces. UPDATE: It appears that the United States, having been refused permission to stage the invasion of Iraq from any country with which Iraq shares a border, and despite the concerns voiced by the military experts of virtually every nation on Earth, is indeed planning to attempt an invasion of Iraq by air, establishing a beachhead under the no-fly zone in the north. 03/17/02 03/17/02 There are, of course, some problems with this approach. The first is that unlike the flat terrain in the South where Desert Storm was fought, large portions of the north are as rugged as eastern Afghanistan, where the recent Operation Afghanistan was long-fought to an inconclusive end. Second, airlifting in every single piece of equipment is costly. In some cases the cost of transport by air will exceed the cost of the actual items. Logistics will be a nightmare by air. An expensive nightmare. Guess who will be required to pay the bill? Third, given that Iraq's neighbors have refused permission for use of their territory from which to launch this invasion, the US Government will either have to maintain its supply route in Iraqi airspace coming up from Bahrain, or commit overt acts of war by over-flying other nations' airspace without permission. Fourth and final, an invasion of Iraq despite rejections by the other Arab nations could easily unite the entire Arab world against the United States.

I have been concerned for some time that as public support for the War On Terror waned (as it has been) that the cabal that wants a war
to control the Mid East and central Asian oil resources would try to stage another terror attack to blame on Arabs.
It looks like such a staged event might be in the offing. Just yesterday, World Net Daily carried a claim by Dr. Robert Morey,
who makes his living writing religious pamphlets, that Pakistanis were smuggling a nuclear weapon in from Canada to the US.
Now we have the above story about the Pakistanis, missing from a ship in Virginia.
But as was the case with the Afghanistan invasion, there are signals that a plan has already
been in existence to trigger
another war. As was reported on Reuter's
the US was ALREADY removing personnel from Pakistan prior to the news of the missing Pakistanis.
Frankly, were real terrorists going to use a ship to smuggle a nuclear weapon into the US, the simplest means is to weld it
under the keel
or into a ballast tank. Ships follow a precise timetable, and the bomb could be detonated with a timer. No personnel are needed. Even the
crew of the ships would not know the bomb was there. Since 18 feet of water is equivalent
to 1 foot of lead shielding, a radioactive
bomb concealed in the keel of the ships would be difficult to detect.
Therefore, the only reason to have Pakistani men (or someone pretending to be Pakistani) is to deliberately call attention to their
purported nationality and their presence by leading the INS on a highly newsworthy wild goose chase. This is highly
reminiscent of the
supposed Muslims who went out of their way to be noticed in the strip bars of New York on the night before the attacks on the World Trade Towers.

When the policy makers (war mongers) talk about taking the weapons of mass destruction of other nations "seriously", what they are building up to is outright unprovoked bombing of other nations' weapons plants. Given that many of these are located underground, this implies a willingness by the US to use nuclear weapons in a first strike role against those targets. Given that an unprovoked first strike is something the American people and indeed the rest of the world cannot and will not view favorably, plans to use nukes against Iran, Iraq, and North Korea (and anyone else on the list) will have to be preceded by a staged "Operation NORTHWOODS" strike against the US itself, in order to pretend that attacks on other nations are "retaliations". Which means the US and Russia will get dragged into an India/Pakistan war on opposing sides. ARE THE CATTLE CARS ON THE WAY?Stung by accusations of being caught off guard by 9-11 and stung even more by lingering doubts as to who really planned the attacks on the WTC, the US Government appears to be "pre spinning" the next staged terrorist attack by announcing it ahead of time and making sure the designated perps are waved in front of the public ahead of time, to remove all doubt as to who we are all to assume is guilty of whatever is about to happen. Note that in this case the lead terrorist suspect is Yemeni. And, just as plans existed to invade Afghanistan long before the WTC attacks, plans already exist to invade Yemen, which together with Somalia, control the entrance to the Red Sea. The US has already accused Yemen of harboring al Qaeda terrorists as a pretext for conquest. Russia, perhaps already aware that control of the world's oil is the real goal of the US conquests, has started sending modern warplanes to Yemen and Somalia. But as the media continues to hammer into the collective consciousness that the terrorists are amongst us, it is good to remember that Nazi Germany played the exact same game, using the fear of terrorists in the midst of the general population to create public support for sweeps of gays, gypsies, the mentally retarded, and the Jews, who were then loaded onto cattle cars, sent to concentration camps, and never seen again. Now, maybe it's just a coincidence, or given the close ties between the Bush family and Hitler, maybe it isn't. But we are seeing what appears to be the start of massive racially based roundups within the United States of America, in violation of the Constitution, but excused and justified because of the threat of terrorists in our midst. History repeats itself. (That's what's wrong with history).
