Eight thousand pages of documents related to the Pentagon's illegal propaganda campaign, known as the Pentagon military analyst program, are now online for the world to see, although in a format that makes it impossible to easily search them and therefore difficult to read and dissect. This trove includes the documents pried out of the Pentagon by David Barstow and used as the basis for his stunning investigation that appeared in the New York Times on April 20, 2008.

Before the Texas and Ohio primaries in early March, the conservative talker began encouraging listeners to cross over and cast ballots for Clinton in Democratic primaries. At the very least, he figured, the Democrats would keep fighting each other and let GOP nominee John McCain float above the fray. In perhaps his most optimistic scenario, Clinton would grab the nomination, giving the right another crack at one of their favorite foes in a general election campaign.

Oh, I can't wait to get the e-mails from folks who will say, "Yeah, but Obama was a member of the church."

True, very true.

But if the marker is now saying anything unacceptable to the masses, then that should be the standard for any pastor: white, black, male, female, conservative or liberal. And any candidate, member or not.

Sometime in the last 24 hours, the Office of the Secretary of Defense quietly uploaded all 8,000 pages of docs used by the NYT in its expose of the military analyst/sock puppet scandal:

Tangentially, Disney is all concerned about Miley Cyrus showing some skin because Disney is all about family values; until you start looking at Disney behind the scenes. They refused to distribute Fahrenheit 911 and Disney has been up to much worse in the last few decades than sponsoring the twit offspring of an "Achy Breaky Heart" who offered up a glimpse of something that is already on sale with all its parts and levels. Whoring is the name of the game and whether you're talking about Janet Jackson's fashion accident, the musical accidents of the Mousketeers or the accidental coincidence of the violent rap they manufacture to counterpoint the high fructose content of the other, you're talking about hypocrisy and profit and souls and flesh for sale.

Now red flags are flying. Some of the most pointed criticism has come from PR professionals, who say the Hunter campaign runs afoul of basic PR tenets such as truthfulness and transparency.
Who do they think they are kidding???????? PR tenets such as truthfulness and transparency. Do you by any chance recall the PR campaign Hill and Knowlton cooked up to start a war? - M. R.

While the Pennsylvania primary has been over for nearly a couple of weeks now, this clip still seems fitting. Chris Matthews is surprisingly critical of the mainstream media's role in perpetuating the "delusion" that Clinton has a chance of winning.
See the story below regarding the ratings of the talk shows on which Obama and Hillary are appearing. - M. R.

After prying loose 8,000 pages of Pentagon documents, the New York Times has proven what should have been obvious years ago: the Bush administration manipulated public opinion on the Iraq War, in part, by funneling propaganda through former senior military officers who served as expert analysts on TV news shows.

May 4, 2008

One would think any fair-minded reviewer would at least make mention of the fact that Morris has made such comments. But, of course, The New York Times is rarely fair-minded when it comes to Israel.

A prominent military consultant and a Bush administration official have already been linked to a Washington, D.C.-area escort service that prosecutors contend was a prostitution ring. Others could join them after a television newsmagazine reports what it learned from the accused madam's phone records.
Except, of course, the network killed the story because some of their own executives were on the list of clients.

And now Palfrey herself has been killed. - M. R.

I remember thinking that censorship was something done in the 40s by priests who had to approve the films that the Italian public was allowed to watch. When I was young and naïve, I thought it was something that only totalitarian or ultra-repressed societies would dare to use. I now know much better, and it's not only the Big Media that simply does not allow content in that they disapprove of, it is far more sinister. It seems as though the journalists are aware of what is expected of them and they produce it without needing to be steered.

Well, one insider says she was booked on Keith Olberman and Morning Joe to talk about her tome -- and then unbooked. "These are shows that call her regularly to come on. And then the word came from on high that she had to be cancelled."

The Hillary Clinton campaign is dealing with a quickly exploding controversy. WSBT News has received dozens of emails about a YouTube video that shows a high level Clinton campaign advisor allegedly making degrading remarks about people from Indiana.

I HEREBY CHALLENGE THE VERY SAME MAINSTREAM MEDIA THAT ENDLESSLY PLAYED THE WORDS OF THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT TO GRANT EQUAL TIME TO AIRING THIS VIDEO.

Hillary's people are claiming that the video has been faked or altered, or simply shown out of context. But I would like to remind everyone that the video of Reverend Wright that we were all shown (over and over and over again) was also selectively edited to exclude the fact that Wright was quoting from another source when he made some of his comments.

Where the truth is on this is hard to figure out, but Hillary's people started playing dirty with the Reverend Wright and now they have to live with the consequences. - M. R.

Send the editor at TIME your opinion of this Palfrey bullshit article in which Moldea is quoted....

"She wasn't going to jail, she told me that very clearly. She told me she would commit suicide," Dan Moldea told Time Magazine. "She had done time once before [for prostitution]," Moldea recalls. "And it damn near killed her. She said there was enormous stress -- it made her sick, she couldn't take it, and she wasn't going to let that happen to her again."
Of course, Moldea never got this alleged "quote" on tape, as a truly responsible journalist would have done.

And we are to believe him just because he is making this claim?

Rational people wouldn't, because they understand that he has utterly no basis in fact for these statements.

What we do have on tape is the absolute opposite of what he has claimed, period, end of discussion.

And unfortunately, this is what passes for "responsible journalism" in the so-called main stream media these days.

Media outlets simply hire people to bend, or distort the truth, (or outright lie) to place their favored "spin" on any topic or event, then feed that as the truth to their audience. - M. R.

"[T]he president deserves everything he's doing tonight in terms of his leadership. He won the war. He was an effective commander. Everybody recognizes that, I believe, except a few critics. ... Here's a president who's really nonverbal. He's like Eisenhower. He looks great in a military uniform."

Summary: Since The New York Times reported on the hidden ties between media military analysts and the Pentagon on April 20, ABC, CBS, and NBC have still not mentioned the report. By contrast, during their April 28 evening news broadcasts, all three networks reported on the Vanity Fair photo of Miley Cyrus.

TV Networks Silenced Anti-War Voices...

As Wright takes a valedictory tour to take advantage of a national platform that has been offered to him by a media tinderbox filled with the kindling wood of race, the question remains as to why this is still front page news. Whether Wright is preaching the gospel and indignation to a media that can't get enough of this sidebar story because race sells only second to sex as far as spiking up ratings -- or whether he is just on an ego trip -- the point to ask is why this is a front page story at all.

April 28, 2008

It's important to remember that at the same time corporate TV outlets voluntarily abandoned journalistic ethics in the run-up to Iraq, independent media boomed in audience by making totally different journalistic choices. Programs like "Democracy Now!" featured genuine experts on Iraq who - what a shock! - got the facts right. Independent blogs and web sites, propelled by war skepticism, began to soar.

What if?... or "What happened to Christopher Hitchens?"

It was no surpise that Limbaugh would call for riots at the Democratic National Convention in Denver to embarrass the Democrats. Limbaugh -- and his fellow purveyors of hate on the airwaves -- are dangerous demagogues whom pro-democracy Americans too easily dismiss as poltroonish shills for the entrenched powers.

With the right wing resorting to false flag operations (911 is the supreme case of that), the alternative media will have to take up the challenge to be the "Fourth Estate", a position the main stream media has been shown to be unworthy of. People like Michael Rivero, at WhatReallyHappened.com are at the forefront of this fight back to reclaim freedom and true democracy to the citizens of the world.
I blush. - M. R.

Larry King believes there is no news so low that it cannot be stooped to. At a time when the American media, generally, seems out to lunch, a man claiming to be "President" of the United States commits capital crimes while a kiss up Congress rewrites the laws to get him off the hook retro-actively.

It's a pity Larry King didn't see fit to spend as much time examining Bush's non-military record as he has spent looking up Paris Hilton and down Anna Nicole. To his credit, King interviewed Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. He really grilled him with smurf balls like "...doesn't the idea of spying run against the grain of Americans?" And, how about this for hard-hitting journalism, "Senator Specter, though, did say he is troubled by it did he not?" Oh well! That changes everything!

Are the wonderful mainstream media, who gave us Saddam's mythical Weapons of Mass Destruction, lying to us again? The answer is yes.
If at first you don't succeed, lie, lie again! - M. R.

There are multiple reasons why substantial skepticism is warranted concerning the Bush administration's claims that the structure which Israeli jets destroyed inside Syria last September was a nuclear reactor Syria was developing with the aid of North Korea. Such skepticism, however, is difficult to find in most (though not all) American press accounts, which do little other than repeat Government claims without challenge.

THE New York Times' news room is bracing for a bloodbath in the next 10 days.

Below are a number of stories with links picked up in a cursory Google News Search. Child abuse cases involving rabbis and ultra-Orthodox families are percolating, and in some cases boiling over, in the Israeli, Australian, and Canadian press. Use any of the key words and you will likely find even more articles.

Funny, Wolf Blitzer and others don't seem to be talking about ANY of this. They're distracted by the "polygamy ranch" instead.

Talk show host Rush Limbaugh is sparking controversy again after he made comments calling for riots in Denver during the Democratic National Convention this summer.

A brief but shocking compilation from the documentary:
"OUTFOXED: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism"
http://www.outfoxed.org/

As Rupert Murdoch's 'war on journalism' hits new lows, droves of disgruntled employees are confessing their many misdeeds, brought upon by the Soviet-Union-esque environment they faced at FOX News. Watch how FOX executives dictate their bias by forcing reporters to follow memos that predetermine what they can say and how they should say it.

Rupert Murdoch has decided that the best approach to journalism is to parade opinions dressed-up as News. The reason is simple: No one can disprove an opinion, and therefore, credibility is easier to maintain. Should they ever be caught lying, the legal process affords them protection under the First Amendment. We also have Congress to thank for the bright idea of passing a rider Bill (hidden) to deregulate the News Media.

That's right; Corporate News entities can tell lies and distort the news as they please, and it's all perfectly legal.

To the best of my knowledge, no country can have or maintain democracy without an honest Press or, at least, one that can be held accountable. But where is ours?

Not convinced? "Florida Appeals Court ruled that there is absolutely nothing illegal in a major media organization lying, concealing or distorting information": http://www.netfeed.com/~jhill/RupertM...

FOX Lies!! Irresponsible Media! Barack Obama Pastor Wright...
Fox news doctored and falsified the video of Obama's pastor Wright. Wright did not preach those words himself. He was quoting a White Man.; Ambassador Edward Peck. And he is a retired, white, career U.S. diplomat who served 32-years in the U.S. Foreign Service and was chief of the U.S.mission to Iraq under Jimmy Carter. The complete video below will show that Pastor Wright is telling his audience that "I will tell you what a white man named Ambassador Peck said". And then he will quote Mr. Peck. And he ends by reminding his congregation "A white man said this, I didn't say it". Fox didn't show that because they wanted people to think it came from Pastor Wright. - M. R.

April 22, 2008

As posts on this site by Katrina vanden Heuvel and Ari Melber outline, yesterday's New York Times' front-page piece convincingly exposed the Pentagon's propaganda machine, its control over access and information, and its selling of the "war on terror" -- beginning with the buildup to the Iraq war. David Barstow's excellent reporting also underscored the complicity of the major media.

...On the hot spot is NDS Group, a UK-Israeli firm that makes smartcards for pay-TV systems like DirecTV. The company is a majority-owned subsidiary of Murdoch's News Corporation. The charges stem from 1997 when NDS is accused of cracking the encryption of rival NagraStar, which makes access cards and systems for EchoStar's Dish Network and other pay-TV services. Further, it's alleged NDS then hired hackers to manufacture and distribute counterfeit NagraStar cards to pirates to steal Dish Network's programming for free.

CNN personality Richard Quest was busted in Central Park early yesterday with some drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy in his boot, law-enforcement sources said.

s it a still a conspiracy theory when the entire plot is exposed on the front page of the Sunday NY Times? Today's story blows the lid off the myth that television is an any way fair and balanced, in any way trustworthy, and in any way real news.

The report exposes the complicity of the TV news networks in featuring military 'analysts' selected by the Pentagon to promote Bush's invasion and occupation of Iraq

To the public, these men are members of a familiar fraternity, presented tens of thousands of times on television and radio as "military analysts" whose long service has equipped them to give authoritative and unfettered judgments about the most pressing issues of the post-Sept. 11 world.

Hidden behind that appearance of objectivity, though, is a Pentagon information apparatus that has used those analysts in a campaign to generate favorable news coverage of the administration's wartime performance, an examination by The New York Times has found.

Just a relink to remind everyone that those "independent experts" seen on ABCNNBBCBS are actually part of the Pentagon's propaganda program. - M. R.

It's interesting to note that, at long last, the mainstream media is hinting that the words 'al Qaeda' has simplistically become a metaphor for those that are fighting the US in Iraq and elsewhere and that 'al Qaeda' is not, as they have pushed for years, a specific organisation that is led and organised by the equally metaphoric and very dead 'Osama bin Laden'.

Esoteric Agenda part 4...

Recently, the poll asked "As a parent, which would you find most offensive in a video game?" The results, as you can see to the right, found that more parents would be okay with cursing or even a severed head in video games over hetero-sex and "two men kissing." Yep, horrific violence just ain't so bad compared to two adult sharing a passionate moment together.
There is a joke in the motion picture industry that if you show a man kissing a woman's nipple it's an 'X' rating, but if that same man takes a knife and slices that nipple off, it's only an 'R'. Behind that humor lies something very revealing about our society. - M. R.

Kristol has been pimping for Israeli interests, putting the interests of a foreign country over his birth nation, America.

Kristol and his fellow travelers saw 9/11 not as a tragedy, but as an opportunity to push America into Israel's conflicts, as this article from the Atlantic Free Press shows:

As I've written elsewhere, "According to Scott McConnell, in the very first issue published after 9/11, the Weekly Standard 'laid down a line from which the magazine would not waver over the next 18 months.' Their line was 'to link Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden in virtually every paragraph, to join them at the hip in the minds of readers, and then lay out a strategy that actually gave attacking Saddam priority over eliminating al Qaeda.' An almost unbelievably absurd and weak hit piece against Jesse Ventura's contention that WTC 7 was deliberately imploded on 9/11 compares a 4-story church that was a stone's throw away from the twin towers with a 47-story skyscraper that was nearly 400 feet away.

If it is true that the power belongs to the people in America, and Congress still answers to the people, then what force prevents the people from rising up to demand that Congress answer to the people's will? Regardless of the outcome of the fighting which commenced upon the Iraqi Army's march to Basra on March 24, and which proved disastrous for Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki, we have been repeatedly "informed" of highly questionable assumptions. Most prominent amongst them is that the "firebrand," "radical" Moqtada Sadr -- leader of the millions-strong Shiite Sadr Movement -- led a group of "renegades," "thugs" and "criminals" to terrorize the strategically important city. Naturally Al-Maliki is portrayed as the exact opposite of Sadr. When the former descended into Basra with his 40,000-strong US-trained and equipped legions, we were circuitously told that the long-awaited move was a cause for celebration. The media also suggested we had no reason to doubtAl-Maliki's intentions when he promised to restore "law and order" and "cleanse" the city, or to question his determination when he described the Basra crusade as "a fight to the end." If anyone was still unsure of Al-Maliki's noble objectives, they could be reassured by the Bush administration's repeated verbal backings, one of which described the Basra battle as "a defining moment."

Indeed.

Legally Thomas is a man, but with reproductive organs that are still fully female. Finish unraveling the gender-bending layers, and what sort of news story are you left with? Air America has allegedly suspended talk radio host Randi Rhodes after she made scathing statements off-air about Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and former Democratic vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro.
Off the air, Randi Rhodes is an American, with the same right to freedom of speech as anyone else. I would argue that Randi has a First Amendment right to say her opinion ON the air as well, but clearly Air America (wasn't there a CIA proprietary by the same name????) is way out of line here!

Chinese Spy 'Slept' In U.S. for 2 Decades...
Note the double standard on display here. Chinese spies are dutifully reported to the American people, but if the spy is an Israeli, there is a media blackout. With the sole exception of the Hartford Courant, no US mainstream media outlet has dared carry the story of Dr., Philip Zack, the man actually caught on the security systems entering the storage area where the anthrax used in the letters was kept, without authorization and after being fired form his job over a racially-motivated attack on an Egyptian co-worker. Likewise, no US Mainstream media has asked by Dr. Barbara Rosenberg went out of her way to point the finger of blame for the anthrax attacks at the now-known-to-be-innocent Dr. Steven Hatfill.

"Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It's classified information." -- US official quoted in Carl Cameron's Fox News report on the Israeli spy ring and its connections to 9-11. - M. R.

It is surprising, to put it gently, that the question of whether or not the 1 million figure is right arouses such little interest. One group that is certainly not interested is the absolutist opponents of the invasion, whose representatives will no doubt soon appear in the Comments below. For them, 1 million is a fact - indeed, it is an under-estimate - regardless of the evidence. Just as the invasion was a "crime" based on "lies", so the minimum death toll is the highest number that any remotely authoritative source has ever come up with. For some time that was The Lancet's 655,000, and never mind that 54,000 of that was heart attacks, strokes and other illnesses, or that the survey methods had been challenged. Yet those who are interested in the truth of this troubling matter are surely under some kind of obligation to examine the evidence, even when it is so out of line with other, more authoritative, estimates of casualties, such as the World Health Organisation's recent figure of 151,000.
The thing about this article I object to is the suggestion that if only 100,000 Iraqi civilians have died, that this is somehow more acceptable than if a million died (3 more were killed as "collateral damage" in a strike against a militant in Basra this morning).

So, my question to John Rentoul is simply this: In a war started with lies about weapons of mass destruction, how do you justify even one civilian death as acceptable? - M. R.

Especially if you have no clue what the Question is...

March 30, 2008

I was recently banned from the site "Alternet" for daring to suggest "Al Qaeda" is largely a propaganda farce and hollow trap meant to deceive a rather gullible American public - which it certainly has. I didn't just up and decide to make this up, by the way. Documented authors Webster Tarpley ("Synthetic Terror") and Michael Chossudovsky ("America's 'War on Terrorism'") along with a host of other well-researched journalists, academics and government insiders have said the same and more.

Sound outrageous?

The abysmal performance of western TV and radio interviewers when dealing with issues surrounding Israel - that 'Rogue Regime' or 'Zionist Entity', as many now call it - is not only embarrassing but a blot on the escutcheon of journalism.

Even the most fearsome inquisitors purr like a pussycat. Their rottweiler instincts evaporate, their investigative skills desert them, objectivity takes a nosedive. Penetrating questions are seldom asked, lies go unchallenged. Any Israeli spokesperson or cheerleader is guaranteed an easy ride.

Have the nation's truth-seekers fallen under some wicked Zionist spell? Are their researchers on strike? Did somebody nobble the programme editors?

While we wait with mounting frustration for our broadcasters to get their act together, here are 20 simple questions the BBC and others seem anxious not to ask......

Gorenberg's piece explores why Malley was tagged with the anti-Israel label. Marty Peretz, former proprietor of the New Republic called him a "rabid hater of Israel." The New York Times idiotically reported the "charges" against Malley without explaining how ridiculous they are. And a million emails went out to Jewish primary voters warning about the dangerous Malley.

So what is the evidence that Malley is anti-Israel? As Gorenberg -- an Israeli and Orhodox Jew -- reports it stems from several articles Malley wrote following Camp David which made the claim (get ready to be shocked) that the failure of the 2000 Clinton summit was not all Arafat's fault but that Ehud Barak was also to blame.

Frontline's "Bush's War" on PBS Monday and Tuesday evening was a nicely put-together rehash of the top players' trickery that led to the attack on Iraq, together with the power-grabbing, back-stabbing, and limitless incompetence of the occupation.

Sending up the 32-metre light globe-shaped billboard burned so much gas - and emitted so much carbon dioxide - that we'll have to switch off 10,000 lights tomorrow just to make it up.

Perfect, then, that it landed in the Peanut Farm Reserve, and equally symbolic that The Age gave this wildly inappropriate stunt fawning coverage.

Why? Because Earth Hour proves that what threatens us is not so much global warming, but lousy journalism.

There is no more important question about the Iraq War than the question of how many Iraqis have died. It is impossible to truly evaluate the war or discuss where to go from here without knowing the human cost of the war, and that cost has overwhelmingly been borne by Iraqis. That's why it's so disappointing that NPR, looking back on the 5th anniversary of the war, treated this issue with either extreme sloppiness or deliberate dishonesty.

U.S. media attention to Iraq began to wane after the first months of fighting, but as recently as the middle of last year, it was still the most-covered topic. Since then, Iraq coverage by major U.S. news sources has plummeted, to about one-fifth of what it was last summer, according to the Project for Excellence in Journalism.

"It doesn't matter what you think," Bernie said flatly. The mainstream media, both print and electronic, are as important as the American people allow them to be. And we've allowed them total control over our thoughts, our beliefs. They're freaks -- actors whose role is to divert national attention, manipulate public opinion, and keep the public in a state of suspended paralysis. They're bullhorns for corporate Boss Hogs and administration creeps who are determined to seize power and keep the military industrial complex rolling in dough."

The US and New Zealand are the only industrialized countries that allow direct-to-consumer advertising (DTCA) of prescription drugs, although New Zealand is planning a ban. Is it time for the US to also ban the practice? In a debate in the open access medical journal PLoS Medicine, authors with divergent viewpoints lay out the possible public health benefits and harms from such advertising.

Earlier in the week, Sean Hannity denied, albeit in contradictory terms, ever having a relationship with neo Nazi/white supremacist Hal Turner. As I posted the night Hannity was confronted about Turner, the evidence conflicts with Hanniy's claims. Now Turner has confirmed their friendship and their sympatico views in a blog post called, "About Sean Hannity and Me. . . . . Yes, we were friends and yes, Sean agreed with some of my views."

Media Hacks Call Cheney A "Hero", Say They Love Him For Not Caring What Americans Think...
Which reveals something very fundamental about the media! - M. R.

First off, let's get something straight once and for all...Israel is neither a religion nor a people; it is a politically established nation. Opinions, discussions, reports, analyses or commentaries about Israel have nothing to do with "Jews," "Jewish" people or "Judaism!" Once you understand this you can now understand how anyone who stifles accurate commentary about Israel by slapping the commentator with an anti-Semitism label is using, and may I say exploiting the Jewish people by directly connecting all Jewish people with the actions of the State of Israel.

In recent weeks, conservative talk radio stars Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham have urged loyal listeners to vote for the much-despised Clinton in open Democratic primaries so as to prevent Obama from sealing the nomination, and there are some indications that their calls have already been heeded in states like Texas and Mississippi.
Or is this just a cover story for massive vote fraud? - M. R.

That said, the republican presidential candidate stated three times in the past few days that "everyone knows" that Iran is training al Qaeda and sending them back into Iraq. In this grand chess game being played there is a substantial difference between al Qaeda and Shiite extremists. I want you to imagine for one minute what the reaction would have been if either Hillary or Obama had uttered such a misstatement. We would have been greeted with non-stop coverage of the gaffe. Their foreign policy experience would have been called into questioned. They would have been deemed "not ready" to be commander in chief. Don't think so? Remember it was just a short while ago that Obama answered a hypothetical question about re-entering Iraq if he had pulled out and al Qaeda had cropped up again. Obama had answered "if al Qaeda was forming in Iraq I would..." After that, McCain jumped on Obama, playing him off as naïve because al Qaeda is already in Iraq. The missing piece of course was that McCain ignored the fact that Obama was answering a hypothetical. You expect that from a lying politician but the media turned it into questioning Obama's bonafides when it comes to foreign policy and didn't call McCain on the subterfuge.

May I suggest that everyone who reads this message send a letter to Lou Dobbs, Mr. American Middle Class Champion, and ask him to explain exactly who owns the Federal Reserve and why we allow the Federal Reserve to continue to control our entire economy. Then ask him why he, and everyone else in the media, have refused to explain this to the American people.

As Lou says every day: It's time for answers!

I was cleared in the Times Square blast. Why didn't the media get the message?

"Neutral" or "objective" news agencies like AP and Reuters, on the other hand, typically operate by certain long-standing traditions and rules. They're not supposed to express their political opinion or taint fact with opinion if it is not an Op-Ed or editorial. They should relate the story and not paint it with gratuitous content. They should not try to make a story fair and balanced. They should report the news as it went down. And they usually do.

Sort of.

They have clever ways of bending the rules to benefit one side--usually "the state," e.g., the USA or Israel or Great Britain. AP does it to perfection. In a short March 7 report titled "Israeli Warplanes Fly Over Beirut," the news giant uses the typical corporate media tools of omission and selective context to misinform the reader, but also employs creative quoting and extraneous content to further marginalize the source and tacitly apologize for the state's wrongdoing.

On Fox and Friends, Geraldo declared Times Square is a "magnet for these crazy people, for anarchists... that's what I think this is, this bomber isn't al-Qaeda, isn't anything like that, he is more like -- it's a man -- he's more like those 9/11 was an inside job kind of guys, they... they protest things in a violent way, but in a violent way almost like the eco-terrorist where they don't intend the inflict casualties."

Geraldo has absolutely no evidence the event in question was connected to anybody associated with the 9/11 truth movement and his characterization of the movement and its members as violent, at first glance, is so at odds with the facts as to be ludicrous.

FOXNews.com - State Department: Anti-Zionism is the New Anti-Semitism...
Claiming that people only criticize Israel because they hate Jews is like trying to claim that people only criticized the Nazis because they hate Germans, or that they only criticized the communists because they hate Russians.

The First Amendment gives us all the right to say what we want about politics. Indeed it is political speech that is the intended beneficiary of the First Amendment.

That the US State Department is trying to sell this lemon to the American people only illustrates how totally under the thumb of Israel the US Government has become. - M. R.

To illustrate the way these narrative attacks work, clips are shown of Fox News hosts or guests making a statement about Obama, along with the date of the statement, followed by a later statement from a pundit on a different channel. The idea, the filmmakers suggest, is that attacks are repeated by Fox News hosts and guests on the channel over the course of weeks and months until they eventually spill over into other news outlets.

Public awareness of the number of American military fatalities in Iraq has declined sharply since last August. Today, just 28% of adults are able to say that approximately 4,000 Americans have died in the Iraq war. A judge is trying to bankrupt an ex-reporter with daily fines as much as $5,000 for refusing to disclose her sources for stories about the 2001 anthrax attacks, press advocates said Saturday.
The original idea of shield laws was to allow a reporter to protect whistleblowers. But that is not what is happening in this case. The reporter is trying to protect a criminal who used the media to smear and frame Dr. Hatfill in order to divert attention away from the real anthrax suspect. The shield laws are not supposed to protect the guilty, and the judge is correct to require this reporter to divulge the name of the person who framed Dr. Hatfill. - M. R.

The same reporter that wrote the the article below referred to the breaking the wall down incidents a few months ago as a ’shopping spree’. The sentiments in that article and others regarding the situation were misleading and harmful to the plight of the Palestinian people. The breaking down of the wall was more than a shopping spree. Yes, the opportunity was taken to stock up on essentials like FOOD while in Egypt, but it was an exercise in FREEDOM… and an attempt to get the attention of the world . Instead, the western press, the Times included, had reports of Palestinians stocking up on cigarettes and Coca Cola… poking fun at a very desperate situation.
