August 21, 2004 THE Sudanese authorities have arrested seven people in Darfur for allegedly taking part in fabricated video footage of villagers being raped by soldiers, prosecutors said today.
Five of the seven - two women and three men - have appeared in court in the North Darfur state capital of El Fasher and confessed to their part in the forgery, the city's prosecution bureau said in a statement.
They charged that the fake video was "organised by two drivers belonging a foreign organisation", the statement said.
