REVEALED: US FIGHTER JETS, TROOPS HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED IN EAST AFRICA SINCE JULY

The US Air Force deployed a fleet of aircraft to east Africa over the summer to respond to potential threats in South Sudan.

A statement released by US Africa Command on October 13 indicates that the Pentagon has been prepared to engage in South Sudan since July, when the US Air Force quietly moved a number of F-16 fighters and KC 135 refueling tankers to Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti.

"[The deployment was a] precautionary measure in order to protect Americans and American interests in South Sudan if required," said a statement from US Africa Command, according to Stars and Stripes.

"These assets have remained in Djibouti out of an abundance of caution in response to that situation in South Sudan."

The move included roughly 50 combat-ready troops.

Defensive in nature, the deployment was a response to diplomatic personnel coming under fire.

SOUTH SUDAN: US EMPIRE STIRS VIOLENT BREW OF BLOOD & OIL AS CHINA THREATENS WESTERN HEGEMONY

The ongoing civil war in South Sudan has left at least 50,000 dead and nearly 3 million displaced. While incidents of rape, torture, and bloodshed ebb and flow with the tides of war, the conflict, and especially its political context, remains little understood in the mainstream media.

Indeed, the war in South Sudan has been flung down the memory hole with the typical neo-colonial disregard for the African continent and its people that has been the hallmark of Western imperial policy (and Western consciousness) there for the past five centuries.

Chad Republic has just fined Exxon Mobil $74 billion—almost seven times its GDP

A court in the central African nation of Chad has ordered Exxon Mobil to pay $74 billion in fines, a record figure that is almost seven times the country’s gross domestic product.
The country’s high court announced the ruling following a complaint from the ministry of finance that a consortium led by Exxon hadn’t met its tax obligations, according to Bloomberg, The court also called for the payment of $819 million in royalty fees. The figure is the rough equivalent of a US court ordering a company to pay over $100 trillion dollars in fine.

The Dreadful Chronology of Gaddafi’s Murder

Jean-Paul Pougala’s April 14, 2011 piece in Pambazuka News titled “The Lies Behind the West’s War on Libya” describes how Africa first developed its own transcontinental communications system by purchasing a telecommunications satellite on December 26, 2007: the African Development Bank ponied up $50 million toward the nearly $400 million cost of the orbiter and the West African Development Bank added $27 million more. Libya contributed $300 million, which made the purchase possible. Pougala writes that when it was up and running, the new system was “connecting the entire continent by telephone, television, radio broadcasting, and several other technological applications such as telemedicine and distance teaching.”

Oil, Power and Money: “Assad Must Go”

Secret cables and reports by the U.S., Saudi and Israeli intelligence agencies indicate that the moment Assad rejected the Qatari pipeline, military and intelligence planners quickly arrived at the consensus that fomenting a Sunni uprising in Syria to overthrow the uncooperative Bashar Assad was a feasible path to achieving the shared objective of completing the Qatar/Turkey gas link. In 2009, according to WikiLeaks, soon after Bashar Assad rejected the Qatar pipeline, the CIA began funding opposition groups in Syria. — Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Why the Arabs don’t want us in Syria, Politico

The conflict in Syria is not a war in the conventional sense of the word. It is a regime change operation, just like Libya and Iraq were regime change operations.

The main driver of the conflict is the country that’s toppled more than 50 sovereign governments since the end of World War 2. (See: Bill Blum here.) We’re talking about the United States of course.

The amount of money that the US Transportation takes in ever year, particularly within the Tri-State Area, is truly staggering – some would argue that is in the trillions of dollars per year with the obscene amount of tolls, taxes (federal state and local) as well as the other methods of raising revenue that should be earmarked for American infrastructure – the ultimate question is where the hell is all of this money going?

People constantly talk about “Auditing the Fed,” but what about auditing the US Department of Transportation?

British historian dies after savage beating in South Africa by armed robbers at his home

A British historian who spent almost 20 years working as a tour guide in South Africa specialising in the Anglo-Zulu war has died after a savage beating by armed robbers at his home.

Robert Gerrard trained under David Rattray, the most celebrated historical storyteller in the region and a close friend of the Prince of Wales.

Mr Gerrard later became the resident tour guide at Isandlwana Lodge in KawZulu-Natal, with his home overlooking the hillside where one of the region's most famous battles took place.

Both men met the same fate: Mr Rattray was gunned down in his home by armed intruders in 2007, while Mr Gerrard was tortured and left unable to walk after armed men burst into his cottage in February this year.

Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton – The debate

Pentagon And CIA at War in Syria

What a mess! In the crazy Syrian war, US-backed and armed groups are fighting other US-backed rebel groups. How can this be?

It is so because the Obama White House had stirred up war in Syria but then lost control of the process. When the US has a strong president, he can usually keep the military and intelligence agencies on a tight leash.
But the Obama administration has had a weak secretary of defense and a bunch of lady strategists who are the worst military commanders since Louis XV, who put his mistress, Madame de Pompadour, in charge of French military forces during the Seven Year’s War.

As a result, the two arms of offensive US strategic power, the Pentagon and CIA, went separate ways in Syria. Growing competition between the US military and militarized CIA broke into the open in Syria.

Fed up with the astounding incompetence of the White House, the US military launched and supported its own rebel groups in Syria, while CIA did the same.

US Trained Militants That Formed the 'Core of Daesh'

A top Daesh leader with a 3-million-dollar bounty from the US State Department on his head received counter-terrorism training in the United States for 11 years, CNN reported. In an interview with Sputnik, Dr. Alon Ben-Meir, political analyst told Radio Sputnik that the case with Khalimov is not isolated.

According to Ben-Meir, US trained militants that formed the core of what is now known as Daesh.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There was a line from the old comic strip "Pogo", and that was: "We have met the enemy, and he...is us!!"

Looking at the way the US government has been training people who are "allegedly" our enemies the statement would be: "We have met the enemy...because we have trained him!"

It is painfully obvious by now that the groups, such as Daesh and Isis have been trained, funded, and equipped by the US government to serve as the "Emmanuel Goldsteins" of the 21st century, against whom Americans need to be spewing their "15 minutes of hate", and buy the narrative that the US government "has to do something" about them.

As reported at mintpress.com in December of last year:

Daesh: The ‘Enemy’ The US Created, Armed, And Funded

Please do not be deceived; the Deep Government, the banks, and Military/Industrial Complex in the US wants perpetual war, and will do anything to achieve that end.

That it winds up always being your sons and daughters getting slaughtered, or maimed for life, is completely irrelevant to them.

They, and their propagandists, will always wrap these wars in a pretty little flag, as though this country's soldiers are actually fighting for "democracy, honor, and the American way of life"; but at the end of the day, it is always about which countries and corporations control the world's resources, and in which currencies those resources will be sold.

U.N. Peacekeepers, U.S. Embassy Stand Down As American Aid Workers Beaten, Raped In Sudan

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — The soldier pointed his AK-47 at the female aid worker and gave her a choice.

“Either you have sex with me, or we make every man here rape you and then we shoot you in the head,” she remembers him saying.

She didn’t really have a choice. By the end of the evening, she had been raped by 15 South Sudanese soldiers.

On July 11, South Sudanese troops, fresh from winning a battle in the capital, Juba, over opposition forces, went on a nearly four-hour rampage through a residential compound popular with foreigners, in one of the worst targeted attacks on aid workers in South Sudan’s three-year civil war. They shot dead a local journalist while forcing the foreigners to watch, raped several foreign women, singled out Americans, beat and robbed people and carried out mock executions, several witnesses told The Associated Press.

The Danger of Excessive Trump Bashing

The widespread disdain for Donald Trump and the fear of what his presidency might mean have led to an abandonment of any sense of objectivity by many Trump opponents and, most notably, the mainstream U.S. news media. If Trump is for something, it must be bad and must be transformed into one more club to use for hobbling his candidacy.

Do you acknowledge that? Is that a positive step for the country?

US Military Pivots to Africa and the News Is Grim

U.S. Africa Command boasts that it “neutralizes transnational threats” and “prevents and mitigates conflict,” while training local allies and proxies “in order to promote regional security, stability, and prosperity.” Rodriguez’s tenure was, however, marked by the very opposite: increasing numbers of lethal terror attacks across the continent including those in Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, and Tunisia. In fact, data from the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland shows that attacks have spiked over the last decade, roughly coinciding with AFRICOM’s establishment. In 2007, just before it became an independent command, there were fewer than 400 such incidents annually in sub-Saharan Africa. Last year, the number reached nearly 2,000.

That’s the reality that made Trump possible, and that’s what this election is about, economic insecurity.

Forgotten stories: Humanitarian catastrophe looms in Lake Chad

The United Nations Organization warns of "emergency levels of severe acute malnutrition" and "famine" in Borno State, Nigeria, affecting over a quarter of a million people directly and indirectly, some 3.8 million. The situation is nearing calamitous proportions and the international community, as usual, has failed to honor the appeal. NATO countries alone spend one point two trillion USD each and every year on their military budgets. So far the UNICEF appeal for funds to feed the needy and hungry in Nigeria, mainly children, has gathered a paltry 23 million USD of the 55.5 million requested. Such is the response of the international community in 2016. The situation is serious, very serious, and deteriorating, specifically in 15 camps in Nigeria's Borno State, which hold some 275,000 people.

These Beekeepers Are Saving the Forest and Producing Honey at the Same Time

By Christina Sarich

Zimbabwe’s beekeepers won’t let you go near their forest. Hundreds of their beehives are hidden within a dense patch of forest along the river in the Mpudzi Resettlement, and the beekeepers watch out for the trees just as vehemently as their bees.

At the center of the Sudanese conflict is a familiar resource, energy lying beneath that nation's blood soak sands of Africa...

Mike Flynn: ‘Americans Are Fed Up With the Bullshit’

Americans fed up with the bullshit they've been fed for many years. They want the truth.

Flynn: This is where I think the world has misread Donald Trump. He has no intention to step away without examining all relationships that we have. His intent is to relook at the way we are organized globally, where the US is sort of expected to be a global leader, but relook at these alliances and these charters that we are under to make sure that they are still viable for the 21st century. It doesn’t mean that President Trump comes into office and NATO goes away. But I would say that NATO as a political alliance does need to be relooked at in terms of everything — resourcing, capabilities.

The demise of Sanders’ “political revolution”

Throughout the Sanders campaign, the Socialist Equality Party has welcomed the broad shift to the left that it revealed in the thinking of millions of working people and youth, while warning that the Vermont senator would inevitably disappoint his supporters.

Bernie Sanders ended his presidential campaign Tuesday, not with a bang but a whimper. The Vermont senator formally endorsed his rival in an undignified prostration before the Democratic Party establishment and Wall Street’s favored presidential candidate, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The unity rally featuring Sanders and Clinton in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, had all the spontaneity and enthusiasm of a going-out-of-business sale. The funereal atmosphere was perhaps fitting
