“CrossTalk” Aggressive NATO

Now NATO has focused on what is described as “Russian aggression.” Does NATO create its own security risks?

Since the end of the Cold War, NATO has been trying to find its new role. Its operations in Afghanistan and Libya were disasters.

Merkel Urged to Temper NATO’s Belligerence

U.S. intelligence veterans are calling on German Chancellor Merkel to bring a needed dose of realism and restraint to the upcoming NATO conference, which risks escalating the dangerous new Cold War with Russia.

MEMORANDUM FOR: Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany

We longtime U.S. intelligence officers again wish to convey our concerns and cautions directly to you prior to a critically important NATO summit – the meeting that begins on July 8 in Warsaw. We were gratified to learn that our referenced memorandum reached you and your advisers before the NATO summit in Wales, and that others too learned of our initiative via the Sueddeutsche Zeitung, which published a full report on our memorandum on Sept. 4, the day that summit began.

NATO Marches Toward Destruction

The Brexit is just one rumbling of such discontent.

As the West’s elites growl about “Russian aggression” – as they once did about Iraq’s WMD – NATO leaders meet in Poland to plan a costly and dangerous new Cold War, while shunning the few voices of dissent.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s cry of distress is that of a man watching a tidal wave of destruction gathering force, similar to ones that have engulfed his country twice in the Twentieth Century.

Hillary Rebuffs Bernie’s Policy Demands

Eager to hold the political “center,” Hillary Clinton has budged little on Bernie Sanders’s policy proposals beyond nice-sounding platitudes, a strategy that could lead to clashes at the Democratic convention, says Lawrence Davidson.

Hillary Clinton has pursued the presidency for almost a decade with a tenacious determination. She almost achieved the nomination in 2008 only to lose to Barack Obama. That led to an eight-year stifling of this ambition.

Finally, in the long run-up to the 2016 election, she was convinced the nomination was hers.

Jeremy Corbyn gives #Chilcot statement

The much-edited Chilcot Report finally arrived and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has issued a pretty-sounding apology for his party’s decision to go to war in Iraq in 2003. He called it the most serious foreign policy calamity of the last 60 years and “a stain on our party and country”.

It’s unfortunate that he dignifies the evil Iraq war conspiracy by suggesting it had anything to do with policy of the British people. It was a private venture, pledged in secret, by a Labour prime minister and his closest henchmen, and backed by the Cabinet.

Iraq Verdict: Trouble if heads don’t roll

First and foremost it was not so much a foreign policy disaster as a flat-out war crime for which Blair as chief perpetrator must be tried. And so must his Cabinet, who carry collective responsibility.

There will be mega-trouble if heads don’t roll.

Trump Hammers On Brexit, “Independence Day” And Repudiation Of Rule By The Global Elite

One thing is clear, whether or not everyone will agree with what is said, Trump is at least speaking more directly than most politicians do

Globalists and Neocons Prove Incapable of Understanding Reality

If Trump wants to put America first, he needs to start firing the Neoconservatives and their lackeys from the White House and putting them on trial for making Americans look really bad.

Rather than listening and learning and modifying their actions, the ruling elites stick to “more of the same.” This process clearly emblematized by the endless procession of Bushes and Clintons replacing each other in the positions of power.

US Ratchets Up Tension South China Sea

By Tony Cartalucci

The United States, as part of its stated agenda of raising tensions in the South China Sea to encourage cooperation across Southeast Asia with the US in encircling and containing Beijing’s regional and global rise, has included several high-profile naval and aviation incidents. However, there is a legal battle lurking just behind these more spectacular headlines, and once again the United Nations is being brought in and undermined in the process...

Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here I am...

A political beacon is about to be extinguished unless he breaks with the doomed Labour Party and sets up on his own

Well I don’t know why I came here tonight
I got the feeling that something ain’t right,
I’m so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I’m wondering how I’ll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.
Yes I’m stuck in the middle with you,
And I’m wondering what it is I should do,
It’s so hard to keep this smile from my face,
Losing control, yeah, I’m all over the place,
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right…

Victory Is Possible – Israel Shamir

Brexit is a game-changing event. Now Euro-sceptics all over Europe has got fresh wind in their sails.

Few people expected the positive outcome of Brexit referendum. Among other doubters, I expected the UK government will borrow a trick from the Clinton collection, and proclaim the "Bremain" hath it.

The political establishment of both leading parties, the Tories and Labour, wished to remain in the cosy lap of the EC. This was the will of the Bank of England, and of the City of London; of the powerful media lords, of the creative minority of yuppies, of cosmopolitan intellectuals.

Armenia is Swarmed by Western NGOs

The tactics of employing non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for the preparation of so-called “color revolutions” in North Africa, the Middle East and a number of former Soviet states has been the modus operandi of the US and its satellites, which have been thoroughly discussed in various NEO articles.

It’s curious that these NGOs who are heavily sponsored by Washington choose to act precisely in those moments when a specific state begins resisting pressure applied on it by the so-called Western World. This resistance often is manifested as a reluctance to support certain projects that were put forward by Washington.

If we are to talk about post-Soviet regions, all Western NGOs, and American ones in particular, have been particularly active in Central Asian and Caucasus states over recent years in a bid to launch “color revolutions” across the majority of them.

Recent attempts to blow up Kazakhstan, the largest and wealthiest state in the Central Asia region, come down the pike every so often. Kazahk security agencies reported that they had found caches of Molotov cocktails, gasoline and iron rods near the protest site in Almaty, and weapons at some activists’ addresses in the city. A few weeks after the failure of this aborted “color revolution”, another attempt to capture the entire city of Aktobe in the western part of the country was made...

What Japanese Media Doesn’t Want You to Say!

Write that ‘Japan is part of the neo-colonialist clique’, and you will never again be invited to participate in any public debate conducted by Japanese mass media outlets.

And that is exactly what I wrote several months ago, after being approached by an important publication based in Okinawa.

When my documentary film about the US bases on Okinawan territory was broadcasted by the South American television network TeleSUR in both Spanish and English, there seemed to be at least some appetite to bring my opinions on the subject to the Japanese public. At one point I was asked to write a 1,200 words essay, placing Japan in the world context, whilst also addressing the grievances of Okinawa.

Japan: US to hand over controversial land as anti-base resentment surges in Okinawa

“The United States Marine Corps in Okinawa may hand back a 40.5 square km tract of land to Japan early next year, its commander said on Saturday, as Washington confronts a surge in opposition to US military bases there following the murder of a Japanese woman.

“Okinawa, which was under US occupation until 1972, still hosts 30,000 military personnel living and working on bases that cover a fifth of the island. Local resentment about that burden surged after an American civilian working at a US base was arrested last month in connection with the murder of a local 20-year-old Japanese woman.

Trump as the ‘Relative Peace Candidate’

The danger to the rest of us is not Trump, but Hillary Clinton. She is no maverick. She embodies the resilience and violence of a system whose vaunted ‘exceptionalism’ is totalitarian with an occasional liberal face.”

Hillary Clinton has shown no real remorse over her support for neocon “regime changes,” aggressive wars and belligerence toward Russia, leaving the oft-obnoxious Donald Trump as the relative peace candidate, says John V. Walsh.

Let us hear from these heretics, among them William Greider, Glen Ford, John Pilger, Jean Bricmont, Stephen F. Cohen and William Blum. Their words are not to be construed as “endorsements,” but rather an acknowledgement of Trump’s anti-interventionist views, the impact those views are having and the alternative he poses to Hillary Clinton in the current electoral contest.

Japan to strip to US army bases of immunity

Secretary General of the Japanese Cabinet Yoshihide Suga stated Tokyo intended to revise the status of the US military in the country. "We will take swift and effective measures," Suga said, TASS reports. According to him, the Japanese government is extremely concerned about the recent murder of a Japanese woman by a serviceman of the US army base in Okinawa. The government also shares the feelings of the local residents in connection with the crime, Yoshihide Suga said. In May of this year, Japan police arrested former Marine Kenneth Franklin, who had killed a 20-year-old Japanese woman. He stunned her with a blunt object, then stabbed her and took the body to the woods. Not that long ago, as many as 65,000 Okinawa residents took to the streets to protest against illegal actions of US military men serving at the US army base in Japan.

Slavery in Thailand: How Southeast Asian Slaves Catch the Seafood Eaten in the US

Seafaring slave ships didn’t vanish in the 19th century. They still persist.

And there’s a good chance they’re catching your dinner.

Just a few years ago, the dark underworld of forced labor in Thailand’s fishing sector was little known. The dirty secrets of this $7.3 billion powerhouse industry have since been explored by the media and international watchdog groups.

But this international outcry has changed little on the lawless seas, where men still slave away on Thai-captained trawlers under savage conditions. Implications for the US are disturbing: Thailand is America’s second-largest seafood supplier behind China.

The men who haul these fish from the sea were typically suckered into working for zero pay. Almost all of the victims are smuggled from destitute villages in Myanmar or Cambodia under false promises of gigs in factories, farms or construction yards.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, will the US Congress, understanding clearly that Thailand uses maritime slavery, do for Thailand what it did for Malaysia in its reclassification of its labor status in order to join TPP, which Thailand ultimately wants to join?!?

As reported at huffpo on 27 July 2015:

The Obama administration outraged human rights advocates on Monday by removing Malaysia from its list of the world’s worst human trafficking offenders — a move that the activists said damages U.S. credibility — simply to boost the president’s trade agenda. “The Administration has turned its back on the victims of trafficking,” Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) said in a written statement. “They have elevated politics over the most basic principles of human rights.” Hundreds of Democrats and a handful of Republicans had previously urged the State Department to maintain Malaysia’s ranking as a “Tier 3” human trafficking violator. For years, the Malaysian government has largely turned a blind eye to sex slavery involving men, women and children. Forced labor is rampant in several sectors of the country’s economy, particularly the electronics industry. In April, mass graves holding more than 130 human trafficking victims were discovered near the country’s northern border with Thailand. That same month, the U.S. ambassador to Malaysia said the government needed to take human trafficking prosecution more seriously. Nevertheless, the State Department officially upgraded Malaysia’s status to Tier 2 on Monday.

It never ceases to amaze me to what depth President Obama is willing to sink to get his agenda successfully enforced to enrich the elites of this world, even when that agenda means the acceptance of slave labor, as it did with Malaysia's being accepted as a TPP member.

As usual, she goes for the military solution, ridiculing the notion of diplomacy.

Preparations underway for summit on Nagorno-Karabakh in St. Petersburg

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and French Ambassador to Moscow Jean-Maurice Ripert have discussed preparations for the trilateral summit on Nagorno-Karabakh in St. Petersburg, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

The meeting was held on the request of the French ambassador who was accompanied by co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Pierre Andrieu.

"During the meeting, the sides discussed issues connected with international efforts on resolving the crisis in Ukraine, as well as preparations for the trilateral summit on Nagorno-Karabakh settlement in St. Petersburg. They also touched upon the situation in the South Caucasus and in Central Asia," the foreign ministry said.

The ministry did no clarify the concrete date of the summit.

Hillary Clinton: Electing a Foreign Spy for President?

As Sherlock Holmes would say, “We are entering in deep waters, Watson”.

The executive leadership now faces the problem of how to deal with a traitor, who may be the Democratic Party nominee for US President. How do the executive leadership and intelligence agencies back a foreign spy for president, who has been deeply compromised and can be blackmailed? This may explain why the FBI, NSA, and CIA hesitate to press charges; hesitate to even seriously investigate, despite the obvious nature of her offenses. Most of all it explains why there is no indication of the identity of Secretary Clinton’s correspondents in the various reports so far available.

Did Clinton’s Emails Expose CIA Agents?

Even as Hillary Clinton closes in on the Democratic nomination, facts continue to emerge indicating that her sloppy email practices may have endangered secrets, including the identities of covert operatives, writes Peter Van Buren.

These are facts. You can look at the source documents yourself. This is not opinion, conjecture, or rumor. Hillary Clinton transmitted the names of American intelligence officials via her unclassified email.

From a series of Clinton emails, numerous names were redacted in the State Department releases with the classification code “B3 CIA PERS/ORG,” a highly specialized classification that means the information, if released, would violate the Central Intelligence Act of 1949 by exposing the names of CIA officials.

Electing a Foreign Spy for President?

As Sherlock Holmes would say, “We are entering in deep waters, Watson”.

There are several lines of inquiry against Mme. Clinton:

(1) Did she work with, as yet unnamed, foreign governments and intelligence services to strengthen their positions and against the interest of the United States?

(2) Did she provide information on the operations and policy positions of various key US policymakers to competitors, adversaries or allies undermining the activities of military, intelligence and State Department officials?

(3) Did she seek to enhance her personal power within the US administration to push her aggressive policy of serial pre-emptive wars over and against veteran State Department and Pentagon officials who favored traditional diplomacy and less violent confrontation?

(4) Did she prepare a ‘covert team’, using foreign or dual national operative, to lay the groundwork for her bid for the presidency and her ultimate goal of supreme military and political power?

Japan Puts Military On Alert For Possible North Korea Missile Launch

Japan put its military on alert on Monday for a possible North Korean ballistic missile firing, while South Korea also said it had detected evidence of launch preparations, officials from Japan and South Korea said.

Tension in the region has been high since North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test in January and followed that with a satellite launch and test launches of various missiles.

Japan ordered naval destroyers and anti-ballistic missile Patriot batteries to be ready to shoot down any projectile heading for Japan, Japan’s NHK state broadcaster said.

A Japanese official, who declined to be identified as he is not authorized to speak to the media, confirmed the order. A spokesmen for Japan’s defense ministry declined to comment.

A Patriot missile battery on the grounds of Japan’s Ministry of Defense had its missile tubes elevated to a firing position.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Historically, the guidance systems on North Korean missiles have performed miserably, to date.

That having been said, however, if another country, like Israel, (which was caught attempting to sell nuclear technology to then-apartheid South Africa) , sells North Korea a functional guidance system, which North Korean scientists can reverse-engineer, then all bets are off, and the region may well be headed into war.

Israeli Weapons Flow to Azerbaijan

In early April, as renewed fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region made headlines in Turkey, there was little talk of the crucial role of Israeli weapons in the clashes. Only the daily Hurriyet reported on Azerbaijan’s use of the Israeli Harop armed drone, which generated Armenian protests.

Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesperson Omer Celik summarized why the issue should be important to the press: “Azerbaijan’s battle is our battle; their martyrs are our martyrs.” Indeed, Azerbaijan consistently scores as Turkey’s closest friend in Turkish public opinion polls, while Israel maintains its status as a serious threat in the same polls.

OBAMA LIFTS ARMS EMBARGO TO THE “POLICE STATE” OF VIETNAM

Don’t let anyone tell you Barack Obama’s a lame duck. Our CEO of war was recently spotted in Southeast Asia spreading around some of that famous peace and democracy.

Vice News reports:

US President Barack Obama announced on Monday that Washington would fully lift an embargo on sales of lethal arms to Vietnam, despite human rights organizations describing it as “among the world’s most repressive regimes.”

The decision to lift the arms trade ban, which followed intense debate within the Obama administration, suggested that US concerns about China’s assertiveness outweighed arguments that Vietnam had not done enough to improve its human rights record and that Washington would lose leverage for reforms.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The unrelenting state of siege against human and political rights by the Vietnamese government against its own people means absolutely nothing to President Obama, or the people around him; this is all about the money the US military/industrial complex will make off of the coming weapons sales to Vietnam.

Japan protests to US over Okinawa woman’s death

Japan has submitted an official letter of protest to the US diplomatic mission in Tokyo over the brutal murder of an Okinawan woman, which is suspected to have been carried out by an American.

On Thursday, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida summoned US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy to the Foreign Ministry and handed over the letter after the police arrested the 32-year-old suspect.

The body of Rina Shimabukuro, who had been missing since late April, was recently found in a weed-covered area in southern Okinawa. Police have found DNA matching the dead woman's in a car belonging to Kenneth Franklin Shinzato, a former US Marine, who lives in southern Okinawa and works at the US Air Force's Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan's southernmost prefecture.

The police, accordingly, suspect the man of having murdered the victim and disposed of her body.

Vietnam says U.S.-based group, culprit behind social disturbance

Social order in Vietnam's capital Hanoi and southern Ho Chi Minh City have been recently disrupted due to mass gatherings held in the name of environment protection using the context of the unusual mass fish deaths in the country's central coastal region.

"The U.S.-based terrorist organization Viet Tan was the real culprit behind the social disturbances," according to Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA on Wednesday.

Viet Tan members inside and outside the country incited people, including juveniles and ex-convicts, to gather at public places. They even delivered money to participants, with the hidden intention of blowing up the protest into a riot, thus hindering the upcoming general elections, said VNA.

Armenia, Azerbaijan forces resume fire

Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan have reportedly resumed fire in violation of a ceasefire that had ended deadly clashes in the disputed Caucasus region of Karabakh last month.

On Saturday, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said that Armenian armed forces had violated the truce on the contact line with the Azerbaijani armed forces in the conflict area 122 times over the past 24 hours.

Armenian forces shelled Azerbaijani positions both from Armenian territory and from the territory under dispute, it said. “Taking into account the operational situation, the Azerbaijani armed forces delivered 123 strikes upon the enemy positions,” the ministry said.

Yerevan had earlier claimed that Azerbaijani forces had violated the ceasefire on the border with Armenia in the early hours of Saturday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Japan’s Prime Minister Invites Putin to Tokyo Despite Washington’s Fury
