Fake News and War Party Lies – Pat Buchanan

Now, Americans should be on guard against “fake news” and foreign meddling in U.S. elections.

Yet it is often our own allies, like the Brits, and our own leaders who mislead and lie us into unnecessary wars. And is not meddling in the internal affairs, including the elections, of regimes we do not like, pretty much the job description of the CIA and the National Endowment for Democracy?

‘Total respect!’ Troops show their love for Trump at Army-Navy game; check out the video, photos

This is the year of breaking records, Army beating Navy after 14 years
The annual Army-Navy game is a proud American tradition often attended by U.S. Presidents ever since Theodore Roosevelt first attended a snow-filled event in 1901.

The 117th annual game, however, saw the first president-elect on record in attendance.

If you were at the game or watching on television, you couldn’t have missed Trump’s entrance thanks to the massive cheers coming from the military cadets in attendance.

Rolling Back the Empire: Washington’s Proxy-Army Faces Decisive Defeat in Aleppo

It appears that the battle of Aleppo is about to end and the Syrian Army is on the “verge of total victory.”

Syrian Army helicopters dropped leaflets on parts of eastern Aleppo on Sunday warning anti-government fighters to surrender while they still had the chance. Hundreds of jihadists have already laid down their weapons and surrendered while a hardline corps of deadenders continue to fend off the rapidly advancing army.

The Tide Is Turning Against the Oligarchs — Paul Craig Roberts

The ruling oligarchy and their presstitute media have become desperate now that they are losing control over explanations and Americans’ minds. Thus, they charge independent Internet journalists such as myself with being Russian agents peddling fake news.

Recent legislation in the House of Representatives, the list of 200 alleged Russian agents, and the attacks on president-elect Trump from within the US intelligence community make it clear that pressures on truthtellers are increasing.

Is Peace Possible? A Dialogue With Johan Galtung On Ukraine; Trump, Putin, And…

I expect these two men to cooperate — Johan Galtung

JG: I think there is a big difference in the campaigner Donald Trump, with his horrible remarks, and all his prejudices, and the President-Elect—who announces himself as the President for all Americans! While we are focusing on Ukraine, I was particularly interested in a statement made by a member of the Trump team about the 200-year relationship between Russia and the United States: the point was made that Russia supported what became the United States, against the French and the English empires. And that was Tsar Alexander I!...

It helps to have a long time-perspective! This is the first time in my life that I have heard of a President-Elect, or a President, having an historical perspective!

‘Mad Dog’ Mattis and the Spirit of Trumpism

When it comes to foreign policy, the incoming Trump administration displays a split personality.

Mattis exemplifies the dual nature of the new administration.
This was readily apparent during the campaign, when, on the one hand, Donald Trump told us we were lied into the Iraq war, that NATO is “obsolete,” and that we have no business supporting regime change in Syria – and, on the other hand, he declared that he would crush ISIS, that it was a mistake to leave Iraq, and that we have to “rebuild our military,” as if we don’t already spend as much as the top ten defense spenders.

Beijing Calls on US to Refuse Taiwan President Entry During Diplomatic Trip

Days after President-elect Donald Trump riled Beijing by speaking to Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, China has asked Washington to not let Tsai visit the US on her way to Guatemala. China maintains a rocky relationship with Tsai, as they believe she may push for full independence of the autonomous nation.

Trump’s talk with Tsai on Friday was the first communication between a Taiwanese head of state and an American President-elect or President since the Taiwan Relations Act was passed in 1979, under US President Jimmy Carter.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi blamed Taiwan for the conversation just hours after it happened, stating that, "This is just the Taiwan side engaging in a petty action, and cannot change the 'one China' structure already formed by the international community…I believe that it won't change the longstanding 'one China' policy of the United States government."

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi: The Chinese are very much admired for looking at the long term, in terms of how its government creates its strategies for moving forward economically and politically.

Your criticism of Taiwan's President's congratulatory call to President-Elect Trump, coupled with your demand that President Tsai not be allowed to visit the US on her way to Guatemala, does not seem to be in character with those attributes.

MAJOR FOREIGN POLICY SHIFT: TURKEY ABANDONING EU FOR SCO

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on November 20 that Turkey did not need to join the European Union «at all costs». Instead, it could become part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), or Shanghai Pact. The Turkish leader said he had already discussed the idea with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The SCO is a Eurasian political, economic, and military organization founded in 2001 in Shanghai. Its members are Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan speak Turkic languages.

Economically and geopolitically, for a lot of reasons, it makes far more sense for Turkey to joint the SCO than the EU; Erdogan has called this correctly.

China military says it's seriously concerned by Japan-South Korea pact

China's Defence Ministry on Wednesday expressed serious concern about South Korea and Japan signing a military intelligence pact to share sensitive information on the threat posed by North Korea's missile and nuclear activities.

The signing of the General Security of Military Information Agreement had originally been expected in 2012, but South Korea postponed it due to domestic opposition.

The case for the neighbors to pool intelligence has increased, however, as North Korea has been testing different types of missiles at a faster rate, and claims it has the capability to mount a nuclear warhead on a missile.

Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun said the move would add a new unsafe and unstable element to northeast Asia and smacked of a Cold War mentality.

"China's military expresses serious concern about this," Yang told a monthly news briefing, adding to previous opposition to the deal from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun: please, try to this from both the Japanese and South Korean perspectives.

Your client State, North Korea, appears drifting toward more instability, and this is coupled with the reality that its President, Kim Jung-Un, appears to be hell-bent to develop a viable nuclear weapons program, which has guidance that works, and soon.

Sir, forgive me, but if you were heads of state, or even citizens, in either South Korea or Japan, would you not be just a little ...nervous, knowing that this was going on?!?

I would strongly suggest, sir that your President, Xi Jinping, needs to recommence negotiations with North Korea, bringing in South Korea, Japan, and the US government, to hammer out a true peace treaty.

This would replace the current Armistice, which is simply a cessation of hostilities, and would include the provision for trade guarantees, as long as North Korea stops developing nuclear weapons, and becomes a signatory to the NNPT, as Iran did.

It can be done, if the will is there. And I hope China's experience with President-Elect Trump will be a far more positive working relationship than it has been with the current (and soon to be Ex) President Obama.

That Obama dissed China at the last G20 meeting, hosted by China, by accusing them of South China Sea "aggression", was the geopolitical equivalent to relieving oneself in someone's face, then telling them it was raining.

To the extent any of the Trump protesters are sincere and not merely paid tools of oligarchs, such as George Soros, military and financial interests, and global capitalists, they should consider that false claims and unjustified criticism can cause Trump and his supporters to close their ears to all criticism and make it easier for neoconservatives to influence Trump by offering support.

The Iran-Russia-China Strategic Triangle

21 November 2016
By F. William Engdahl

The developing economic, political and military links binding Iran, China and Russia in what I see as an emerging Golden Triangle in Eurasia, are continuing to deepen insignificant areas. This, while it seems to be US geopolitical strategy in a prospective Trump Administration to distance Washington from both Iran and from China, while dangling the carrot of lessened confrontation between Washington and Moscow–classic Halford Mackinder or Kissinger geopolitics of avoiding a two-front war that was colossally backfiring on Washington by trying to shift the power balance. At present, the dynamic of the past several years of closer cooperation by the three pivotal states of the Eurasian Heartland is gaining strategic momentum. The latest is the visit of China’s Minister of Defense and of Russian senior officials to Teheran

Modi, in his permament search for personal glorification could easily impose a state of emergency or martial law. This is in fact extremely likely, perhaps even inevitable, for the so-called intellectuals will beg for it.

As we have said previously: this will go down in the history books as one of the most naïve, least thought through policy decisions ever, a massive man-made disaster.

Japan Releases Instructions for Citizens in Case of Nuclear War with North Korea

JAPANESE people are bracing themselves for nuclear attack with chilling advise on what to do if Kim Jong-un presses the red button.

For the first time since North Korea began a series of nuke tests, people in Japan are being issued with terrifying instruction on how to deal with nuclear war.

A downloadable pamphlet is now available on the island nation’s civil defence website.

Called “Protecting Ourselves against Armed Attacks and Terrorism,” it outlines emergency measures in the event North Korean missiles are fired at the country.

It bears similarities to the creepy Protect and Survive documents issued in Britain and Northern Ireland during the early 1980s following the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan.

Like the UK’s booklet it give top-tips on how to avoid being fried and radiated.

It urges people to take shelter indoors behind thick walls to avoid blast injuries but also radiation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The timing of the release of such information by any government is never accidental. But I have to ask: why is this info being disseminated now?!?

Is the Japanese government concerned about an "accidental" nuclear strike because of the historical failure of North Korea's missile guidance systems?!?

Traditionally, the big problem for the North Korean military and scientists have had with their missiles, has been that of guidance.

I have a hard time believing that this has been miraculously "cured" since North Korea's last underground nuclear test last September.

That being said, I think we may be in for at least another missile test, or underground nuclear test...or perhaps both, from North Korea, and soon.

Kim Jung-Un appears to be using these tests as "leverage" against the US, South Korea, and Japan, after seeing what happened with the P5+1 agreement with Iran.

What Kim Jung-Un wants is a true peace treaty to replace the armistice which has existed between North and South Korea for the last 60 years, with guarantees on trade, in exchange for stopping his nuclear weapons program.

And the sooner the US can cajole China into sitting down at the table to make such negotiations happen, the better.

Of course, that will not happen now until Trump is President, looking at the horrific gaffe Obama pulled that last time he was at the G20 meeting in China, where he excoriated China about its actions in the South China Sea.

More Rohingyas flee to Bangladesh as violence spreads in Myanmar

More Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar poured into neighboring Bangladesh this week, with some feared to have drowned after a boat sank during a bid to flee violence that has killed at least 86 people and displaced 30,000.

Some Rohingya refugees have been missing since Tuesday after a group crossed the River Naaf that separates Myanmar and Bangladesh. Those who managed to enter Bangladesh sought shelter in refugee camps or people's homes.

"There was a group of people from our village who crossed the river by boat to come here, but suddenly the boat sank," said Humayun Kabir, the father of three children untraceable since the mishap.

Although many of those on board could swim, and were able to reach the river bank, seven people remain missing, he added, his children among them.

Myanmar troops poured into the western state of Rakhine along the frontier with Bangladesh in response to coordinated attacks on three border posts on Oct. 9 that killed nine police officers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Aung San Suu Kyi's inability to put down the violence against the Rohingya does not augur well for the future of peace in her country.

I frankly would have expected more of a Nobel Peace Prize winner; but then again, look at all the carnage the US's President Obama has created since becoming a recipient of that prize, which actually makes the awarding of it to him on esick joke!!

Connecting Two Continents: The Ultimate Engineering Challenge

The Bering Strait was last crossed by humans 20,000 years ago during the ice age, when ice formed a bridge between North America and Asia. Today, 47 miles and some of the harshest ocean and arctic conditions separate the two continents.

The $65 billion project aims to feed North America with raw goods from the Siberian interior and beyond, but it could also provide a key link to developing a robust renewable energy transmission corridor that feeds wind and tidal power across vast distances while linking a railway network across 3/4 of the Northern Hemisphere.

Myanmar’s New “Democratic Dictator”: Aung San Suu Kyi

The Western media is portraying Myanmar’s recent elections as historic. One commentator described Myanmar as an “exuberant nation prepared for a new era of democracy and political freedom.” But one wonders what sort of democracy and political freedom can be borne of elections in which nearly a million voters were banned from casting their ballots and with the apparent victor already declaring herself above the law.

Sidestepping these inconvenient facts, the West is nonetheless excited about the prospect of Aung San Suu Kyi and her National League for Democracy (NLD) taking power in Myanmar.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wow!! I never thought in my lifetime, I would ever have to say, "Watch out: here come the Buddhists!"

But unfortunately, for the Islamic Rohingya minority residents of Myanmar, who have been living here for hundreds of years, that seems to pretty much be the case right now.

Malaysian protesters march against Prime Minister Najib

Tens of thousands of protesters, undeterred by the arrests of opposition leaders, marched in Malaysia's capital on Saturday demanding that Prime Minister Najib Razak step down.

Protesters clad in yellow shirts marched through the heart of Kuala Lumpur bringing traffic to a standstill in several tourist spots, wrapping up peacefully in front of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers after an initial plan to assemble at Independence Square was thwarted by police.

Najib has faced criticism since the Wall Street Journal reported last year that around $700 million from state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) was diverted into the personal bank account of the prime minister.

Najib ran into further trouble when lawsuits filed by the U.S. Justice Department in July said over $3.5 billion was stolen from 1MDB, which was founded by Najib, and that some of those funds flowed into the accounts of "Malaysian Official 1", whom U.S. and Malaysian officials have identified as Najib.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looks to me as though Najib's government itself is the extremist and corrupt element here.

Dear President Trump: Just Say No to the Neocons

Tell Eliot Cohen to get lost.

For the central canon of the neocon creed has been and always will be a militant internationalism.

The kudzu vine is one of the most invasive plants in existence: you cut it back, but that just emboldens it! You dig it up, but it keeps returning, stronger than ever. It is, in short, the horticultural equivalent of the neoconservatives, who have survived in spite of leading us over a cliff in Iraq, being roundly repudiated by the voters in the last three presidential elections.

Scenes Of Panic In India As Gold Price Skyrockets After Currency Ban

Here is a link to Part 1, about what happened in the first two days after India’s government made Rs 500 (~$7.50) and Rs 1,000 (~$15) banknotes illegal. They can now only be converted to Rs 100 (~$1.50) or lower denomination notes, at bank branches or post offices. Banks were closed the first day after the decision. What follows is the crux of what has happened over the subsequent four days.

Today India is on the verge of a major social-political crisis, unless either the government backs off from the decision of banning the currency or some real magic happens. There is chaos in the streets and daily life is slowly but surely coming to a full halt.

What Modi did was not only heavy-handed, hugely arrogant, and of no value, it has been very badly implemented to boot — as everything in India always is — and carries the real potential of escalating and snowballing into something horrific. They could have seen that this was not going to end well by simply using primary school math.

Can Trump find enough fresh thinkers to do the job?

Trump’s Slim Chance for Greatness. Donald Trump must decide – and decide quickly – whether he wants to be a great U.S. President or a robo-signature machine affixing his name to whatever legislation comes from congressional Republicans and a nodding figurehead acquiescing to more neoconservative foreign policy adventures.

Or, to put it in a vernacular that Trump might use, does he want to be “Paul Ryan’s bitch” on domestic policies? And does he want to surrender his foreign policy to the “wise guys” of Washington’s neocon establishment.

The Donald Trump Cabinet: He Is Not A Masochist

He may temporarily forgive, but he does not forget. This rule of thumb has served him well in transforming his father’s multimillion dollar but fledgling real estate company into the multi-billion dollar international real estate powerhouse that it currently is.

So what gives in regards to the names of his Cabinet that are being floated around?

Mind you, some of the list below was gleaned from the New York Times, so a huge grain of salt should be taken before one delves into this analysis.

What Donald Trump Needs To Do

There has never been a better-suited and more experienced President when it comes to these issues...

Now that Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States of America, there are a lot of things he needs to do.

He has seen firsthand the unseemly underbelly of the various Deep State actors that have fought tooth and nail to both undermine and character assassinate him, as well as destroy him personally and professionally.

But Donald Trump is made of legendary stuff, and not only endured these constant and underhanded attacks, but also exposed and destroyed them all, one by one.
