Tillerson Urges China to Refrain From Retaliation Against THAAD in S Korea

It isn't economic retaliation Tillerson is bleating about. China moved some heavy EW jammers up to where they can jam THAAD making it useless against an NK riposte!
The Chinese say checkmate.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urged China on Friday to refrain from creating economic policies which could hinder South Korea’s deployment of a US Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-ballistic missile system.

"While we acknowledge China's opposition, its economic retaliation against South Korea is inappropriate and troubling. We ask China to refrain from such actions," Tillerson said during a press conference following his talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se.

China promises ‘firm response’ if Japan interferes in South China Sea

China pledged to have a “firm response” if Japan further fans regional tensions and “threatens China’s sovereignty and security.” The statement comes after a Reuters report that Japan will send its largest warship to the disputed South China Sea.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a press briefing on Thursday that based on its own interests, Japan has recently been compromising stability in the South China Sea, “causing strong dissatisfaction and opposition from the Chinese people.”

“If Japan persists in taking wrong actions, and even considers military interventions that threaten China’s sovereignty and security… then China will inevitably take firm responsive measures,” she said.

Trump's aggressive North Korea stance may face backlash in Seoul, Beijing

President Donald Trump, known to elude conventional foreign policy, is expected to seek out new solutions to reign in a belligerent Pyongyang, instead of continuing former President Barack Obama's strategy of economic sanctions. Speaking in Tokyo on Thursday, Tillerson highlighted the need for a fresh approach, acknowledging that two decades of American efforts to denuclearize North Korea have failed.

But while Tokyo may be open to a more forceful stance, the same isn't true for Beijing and Seoul.

South Korea's new president and Chinese sovereignty concerns could emerge as key obstacles to Washington's goal of a unified, confrontational stance against North Korea.

Tillerson’s Asia Visit: Could US Change Stance on N. Korea Even If It Wanted To?

As US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson travels across Japan, China and South Korea, amid the impeachment of South Korean president Park Geun-hye and a recent missile launch by North Korea, Radio Sputnik’s Brian Becker invited columnist and author Patrick Lawrence to discuss what’s at the heart of the new diplomat’s trip.

Will a New South Korean Leader Improve Relations With Pyongyang?

The impeachment of South Korean president Park Geun-hye has plunged South Korea into a time of uncertainty. Between America's undecided foreign policy and the massive unpopularity of its THAAD system deployment in South Korea, Park's successor may take an unexpected stance. This seems likely, given that the most probable candidate to win the elections is Moon Jae-in, a supporter of the Sunshine Policy, the idea of close cooperation with North Korea without military intervention.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would love to think diplomacy had a chance here; unfortunately, for both citizens of both North and South Korea, China, Japan, and the world, it appears that the American Deep State has already made up its mind. As reported today at the dailymail.co.uk:

The US prepares to 'incapacitate' Kim: USS Carl Vinson carrying huge fleet of fighter jets arrives in South Korea as military sources reveal plan to 'remove' Jong-un's war chiefs

These troops, coupled with the 300,000 Korean and 17,000 American troops in exercises, called Foal Eagle, off the coast of North Korea, constitute a formidable force. The US has installed Gray Eagle attack drones near North Korea's borders. And, at the end of next month, presuming the South Korean government actually approves it, post-Park Geun-hye's conviction, and removal from office. the US will have its THAAD anti-missile system installed in South Korea, and operational.

You do not deploy a huge number of troops, weapons, and materials, unless you are pretty certain you are going to use them, and quickly; it is very hard to keep up morale and readiness for a long period of time without using those resources.

Therefore, I think that the US war with North Korea is pretty much a near certainty, and that the timing is eminent. Watch for the "false flag", to be blamed on North Korea, and we will be off and running.

I will be interested to see what Tillerson's statements are upon returning from South Korea; those will provide the clues about in which way the US government is going to act here.

China waits to hear why Japanese warship going to South China Sea

China said on Tuesday it was waiting for an official word on why Japan plans to send its largest warship on a three-month tour through the South China Sea, but that it hopes Japan can be responsible.

China claims almost all the disputed waters and its growing military presence has fueled concern in Japan and the West, with the United States holding regular air and naval patrols to ensure freedom of navigation.

The Izumo helicopter carrier, commissioned only two years ago, will make stops in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Sri Lanka before joining the Malabar joint naval exercise with Indian and U.S. naval vessels in the Indian Ocean in July, sources told Reuters.

Eurasia: The Strategic Triangle that Is Changing the World

Away from the current chaos in the United States, major developments are progressing, with Iran, Russia and China coordinating on a series of significant moves crucial for the future of the Eurasian continent. With a population of more than five billion people, constituting about two-thirds of the Earth’s population, the future of humanity passes through this immense area. Signaling a major change from a unipolar world order based on Europe and the United States to a multipolar world steered by China, Russia and Iran, these Eurasian states are carving out a leading role in the development of the vast continent. As part of the challenges faced by these leading multipolar countries, the disruptive events originating in the post-WWII Euro-Atlantic world order will need to be tackled.

Trump’s wiretap claims are totally plausible

The Trump wiretap debacle is laying the US deep state bare.

President Trump’s claim his phone was tapped during the election campaign by the Obama administration has been ridiculed as “outrageous.” Now, with the latest WikiLeaks disclosure of the large CIA hacking capacity, Trump’s claims aren’t crazy at all.

Indeed one might say allegations of illegal surveillance by US intelligence agencies is consistent with the concept of a ‘deep state’ operating as a shadow government.

The WikiLeaks’ bombshell release this week, the so-called Vault 7, of over 8,000 documents purporting to show a global arsenal of CIA hacking methods appears to be authentic. That is, the illegal surveillance of computers, smartphones and even household televisions by the American intelligence agency is happening on a massive scale.

Full disclosure: I’ve met with Russians. I met with a Russian this morning. She brought me coffee. Such crazy and dangerous things can occur in Moscow. I am afraid the CIA and NSA could take notice of this meeting, and then it can be used – even against you. “You have perused an article by Israel Shamir. Were you aware he had Russian contacts?”

Though I am not too young, this is the first time I have witnessed such a witch-hunt. In Russia, there are many foreigners, Europeans and Americans as well, and Russians mingle with them freely, with no fear.

Into the Syrian Quagmire – Trump meets complexity

In order to fulfill his pledge to “quickly” dispatch ISIS, Trump is ramping up the US presence – and we’re well on the way to getting sucked into the Syrian quagmire.

Donald Trump thinks he’s going to get rid of ISIS in Syria “quickly,” and then we’ll be on our way to making America great again – but already he’s finding that the terrain there is a bit crowded, and that he has a bit more than the fast-dissipating “Caliphate” to contend with.

According to reports, the Pentagon has come up with a plan to carry out Trump’s pledge, as ordered, but reality is racing ahead of the generals – and auguring a clash of civilizations in the midst of Syria’s blasted out cities.

In an earlier interview Marshall had said "Just like Jesus said, 'The poor will always be with us,' There is a group of people that just don't want health care and aren't going to take care of themselves. Just, like, homeless people. I think just morally, spiritually, socially, just don't want health care. And I'm not judging, I'm just saying socially that's where they are.

Donald Trump set to send B-52 NUCLEAR BOMBERS to South Korea after North fires missiles at Japan and US warns of ‘overwhelming’ response

DONALD Trump is reportedly planning to send nuclear bombers to the Korean peninsula as tensions in the region reach breaking point.

North Korea and the US have been teetering on the brink of war for months after Kim Jong-un carried out a series of controversial missile launches.

Earlier this week, trigger-happy Kim pushed his luck once more when he fired off four ballistic missiles into the seas near Japan.

Now US military chiefs are reportedly planning to fly in B-1 and B-52 bombers – built to carry nuclear bombs – to show America has had enough, according to the Korea Times.

South Korea and the US have also started their annual Foal Eagle military exercise sending a strong warning to North Korea over its actions.

A military official said 300,000 South Korean troops and 15,000 US personnel are taking part in the operation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These military exercises are scheduled to last for two months, and have just begun. That's a lot of time for something to go "south", either in terms of an accidental blunder, or a deliberate"false flag", to be blamed on the North Korean government.

What would deescalate the situation would be if the US, Japan, South Korea, and China were to get North Korea back to the bargaining table, and replace the current armistice with an actual peace treaty with North Korea, with the caveat being, that in return for a legitimate peace treaty, North Korea would give up its nuclear weapons program.

Of course, THAT...would be logical.

The Hannigan resignation is not occurring in a vacuum, and some in the large and highly networked retired intelligence community have come to believe that it is connected to the investigation and downfall of Trump’s first national-security advisor, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy has detailed exactly how the Flynn case does not appear to fit into any acceptable category that would have mandated an investigation and interrogation by the FBI. Surveillance of a Russian official would be authorized under FBI guidelines, but to extend that type of monitoring or investigation to a U.S. citizen would require specific authority from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court to issue a warrant based on probable cause.

FLASHBACK : The Roots of the Refugee Crisis Caused by the West

“The reason so many are fleeing places such as Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq is that U.S. and European interventionist foreign policy has left these countries destabilized with no hopes of economic recovery,”explainedformer congressman and three-time presidential contender Ron Paul, a leading voice for a constitutional, non-interventionist U.S. foreign policy. “This mass migration from the Middle East and beyond is a direct result of the neocon foreign policy of regime change, invasion, and pushing ‘democracy’ at the barrel of a gun.”

“Contrary to what one might expect, U.S. military aid doesn’t produce willing, cooperative, or effective security partners. Instead, it incentivizes bad behavior and drives the sources of terrorism: corruption, violence, and poor governance. Unwittingly, this policy is creating its own enemies,” writes Jeremy Ravinsky.

Bangladesh to relocate Rohingya refugees to remote island

Authorities in Bangladesh have controversially decided to encamp tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees from neighboring Myanmar at a remote offshore location.

A committee comprising state officials in the coastal districts of Bangladesh has been set up to direct authorities to help identify undocumented Myanmarese refugees and relocate them to a remote island in the Bay of Bengal, media reported on Monday.

“The committee will assist transferring both registered and unregistered refugees from Myanmar to Thengar Char near Hatiya Island in Noakhali district,” according to an order issued by the Cabinet Division last week.

The order says all the refugees will be relocated to Hatiya Island and required to stay there.

And what about the kids?!? Will they ever get a chance to achieve an education to elevate their life condition, over and above the grinding poverty to which life in this camp condemns them?!?

Myanmar defies OIC call to stop atrocities against Rohingya

Myanmar has defied a call by Muslim governments to stop atrocities against Rohingya Muslims, slamming instead Malaysia for hosting a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

At an extraordinary OIC meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, the Malaysian premier called on Myanmar to end its crackdown on Rohingya Muslims and stop the "unspeakable cruelty" against them.

Myanmar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday said it was "regrettable" that Malaysia had called the emergency meeting to discuss the plight of the Rohingya.

The ministry accused Malaysia of exploiting the crisis "to promote a certain political agenda" and disregarding alleged efforts of the Myanmar government to tackle the crisis.

Myanmar’s military began its crackdown in Rakhine State after an attack on the country’s border guards on October 9 left nine police officers dead, which the government blamed on the Rohingya.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Malaysian Prime Minister Razak, you have no earthly idea who I am, but I thoroughly support your call for Myanmar to stop persecuting its Muslim minority, the Rohingya.

And to Aung San Suu Kyi; sorry, my dear, but the world cannot "unsee" these images of Rohingya pain, suffering and death, at the hands of your military:

Malaysian PM tells Myanmar to 'stop the killing' of Rohingya, as Muslims meet

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak called on Myanmar on Thursday to stop all discrimination and attacks on Rohingya Muslims, and urged the world's Islamic countries to act to end an unfolding "humanitarian tragedy".

Malaysia has spoken out strongly against mostly Buddhist Myanmar over its treatment of its Rohingya minority, especially since October, when security forces launched a crackdown in the north of Rakhine State on the Bangladesh border, where many Rohingya live.

At least 86 people have been killed and an estimated 66,000 have fled into Bangladesh since nine Myanmar policemen were killed on Oct. 9 in attacks on border posts the Myanmar government blamed on Rohingya supported by foreign militants.

"The killing must stop. The violation of women and girls must stop," Najib, the leader of Muslim-majority Malaysia told a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called by Malaysia to discuss the Rohingya.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi: sorry, my dear, but the world cannot possibly unsee these atrocities:

Images: Rohingya getting burned out of their homes

Images: Rohingyas being persecuted by Myanmar military

So Aung San Suu Kyi, I have a message for you: if you don't like the reality that the world is witnessing this persecution of your ethnic Muslim minorities, and Malaysian Minister Razak is calling you out on this, then stop the damned behaviour by your military against them!!

I never thought this lifetime that I would have to say, "Watch out: here come the Buddhists!"

Unfortunately, Myanmar has become a place where this vicious persecution of its Muslim members makes that warning a reality.

China expert: Tillerson's plan for the South China Sea would 'certainly end up in a shooting war with China' Business Insider

(Kevin Lamarque/Reuters)
President-elect Donald Trump's secretary of state nominee, Rex Tillerson, made waves internationally on Thursday by suggesting that the US should "send China a clear signal that, first, the island-building stops, and second, your access to those islands also is not going to be allowed."
Suggesting China stop its building of artificial islands and militarizing them doesn't sharply break with the policy of President Barack Obama's administration, but suggesting a blockade — or forcefully stopping China from sailing to its land features in the South China Sea — does.
China's response, at first muted, has come back strong, with Chinese media saying that "unless Washington plans to wage a large-scale war in the South China Sea, any other approaches to prevent Chinese access to the islands will be foolish."

Is Trump Already Finished? — Paul Craig Roberts

Is Trump Already Finished?

Paul Craig Roberts

It did not take long before we knew there was no hope of change from President Obama. But at least he went into his inauguration with an unprecedented number of Americans on the Mall showing their support for the President of Change. Hope was abundant.

But with Trump, we are already losing faith, if not yet with him, at least with his choice of those who comprise his government even before Trump is inaugurated.

Trump’s choice for Secretary of State not only sounds like the neoconservatives in declaring Russia to be a threat to the United States and all of Europe, but also sounds like Hillary Clinton in declaring the South China Sea to be an area of US dominance. One would think that the chaiman of Exxon was not an idiot, but I am no longer sure. Is Trump About to Debunk the Media’s ‘Putin-gate’ Conspiracy Theory?

So get out the popcorn, and put your feet up: the entertainment is about to begin!

Cold war drama fizzling fast

“It wouldn’t be a bad opening for a Tom Clancy novel about the Cold War” – that’s how the Los Angeles Times described the sequence of events leading up to the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats (“spies”) and the latest face-off between Washington and Moscow.

Indeed the whole episode of has about it a fictional aura, which is, after all, only appropriate, since the entire basis of this latest cold war drama is pure invention.

The Establishment Is Trying To Steal The Presidency From Trump And the Liberal-Left Is Helping

Where is the liberal-left’s moral conscience?

The US military, the CIA, and their whores in the US media are undemocratically pursuing their own agenda independent of the policy of the president-elect.

We could dismiss Trump’s admission as throwing a bone to the CIA so they can feel vindicated and get off his back, and the statements by Tillerson and Mattis could be dismissed as what has to be said in order to be confirmed.

US Intel Agencies Try to Strong-Arm Trump Into War with Russia

The big shots who run the country are trying to strong-arm ‘the Donald’ into carrying their water so the depredations can continue...

Powerful elites are using the credibility of the US Intelligence agencies to demonize Russia and prepare the country for war.

Last week’s 25-page report, that was released by the Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, illustrates to what extent intelligence is being “fixed around the policy”.

The Intelligence Community has been coerced into compromising its credibility to incite fear of Russia and to advance the geopolitical ambitions of deep state powerbrokers.

Risks and Opportunities for 2017

Just a few days into 2017 and we can already say with a great degree of confidence that 2017 will be a historical year. Furthermore, I submit that 2017 will be the “Year of Trump” because one of roughly three things will happen: either Trump will fully deliver on his threats and promises, or Trump deliver on some, but far from all, his threats and promises or, finally, Trump will be neutralized by the Neocon-run Congress, media, intelligence community. He might even be impeached or murdered.

Of course, there is an infinity of sub-possibilities here, but for the purpose of this discussion I will call the first option “Trump heavy”, the second one “Trump light” and the third one “Trump down”.

Let Trump Be Trump?

Could Trump redefine the presidency?

Donald Trump may be a historic figure, but that does not mean he is easy to understand or anticipate. One thing is for sure – he has a unique style and form of communication.

Is the US Positioning Itself for A Military Presence in Myanmar? Using the “Rohingya Crisis” as a Pretext?

The governments of the United States and United Kingdom have spent decades and millions of dollars creating the political opposition fronts that constitute support for Myanmar’s new (and first ever) State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi. This support includes backing Suu Kyi’s saffron-clad street fronts who make up a nationwide network of “monk” alliances and associations.

And it is these alliances and associations that have served at the forefront of persecution against Myanmar’s Rohingya minority.

Also for years, this violent persecution has unfolded in what was otherwise a media blackout across North America and Europe. When violence reaches fevered pitches, American and European media organisations intentionally introduce ambiguity as to who precisely is leading anti-Rohingya violence.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What is that line about "never letting a good crisis go to waste"?!?

So now, the US expects its military to go in as "advisors" for the Myanmar military against a horrifically persecuted minority group, the Muslim Rohingya who, many times literally get burned out of their shacks?!?

I never thought, looking at various wars blamed on religious differences, but actually, about access to resources, that I would have to say "Watch out; here come the Buddhists!" Unfortunately, Myanmar is the exception to that, and big-time.

The Neocon’s declaration of war against Trump

This is a political coup d’etat...an attempt at removing Donald Trump from the White House.

After several rather lame false starts, the Neocons have now taken a step which can only be called a declaration of war against Donald Trump.

It all began with CNN published an article entitled “Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him”

Within one short week we went from allegations of “Russian hacking” to “having a traitor sitting in the White House”

Obama’s ‘Farewell To Arms’ As War Presidency Ends

Self-declared liberal Americans consider Bush to be a warmongering disaster, yet somehow they hail Obama as some kind of progressive «peace president».

Eight straight years of warmongering come to an end as US President Barack Obama bows out with his «farewell to the nation» speech this week, as fawning American media dubbed his valediction.

In reality, Obama’s outgoing address should have been billed as a «farewell to arms» made by arguably one of the most belligerent presidents to ever have occupied the White House.

Only in exceptionally delusional America could such a pernicious paradox be presented as something honorable and sentimental.

Stephen F Cohen: Who Are the Real Enemies of US National Security?

If anti-Trump American forces are behind untrue allegations of this magnitude, those forces are the primary enemies of US national security and should be investigated fully and publicly.

Cohen raises the following issues, which he and Batchelor discuss:

Two conflicting interpretations are suggested, says Cohen. Either Trump is about to become a potentially seditious American president. Or powerful US forces are trying to destroy his presidency before it begins, perhaps even prevent him from taking office.

The biggest moments from Donald Trump’s fiery press conference

“It’s all fake news. It’s phony stuff. It didn’t happen, and it was gotten by opponents of ours, as you know..."

President-elect Donald Trump held his first press conference Wednesday since winning the election and answered questions about his relationship with Russia, arrangements for the future of his business, and some of his plans for the first days of his administration. Trump vowed to repeal and replace Obamacare within the “same hour,”. He also promised to name a Supreme Court nominee within the first two weeks after he takes office. The event was marked by tense exchanges...

2016: The Year of Russia’s Triumph – The Saker

2016 has been a fantastic year for Russia. Putin’s policy of slow, low-key and deliberate move and counter-move has proven to be extremely effective.

Just like European maps place Europe in the center of the planet, so do most western commentators look at the past year from a US/Europe-centered perspective. Which is fair enough. Furthermore, the AngloZionist Empire has just suffered two major disasters, the Brexit and the election of Trump.

The credit for the election of Donald Trump goes first and foremost to the American people to whom I sincerely believe the entire planet owe a heartfelt and loud “THANK YOU!!!!!”.

Not only did the British people defy the Empire and vote for a Brexit, but now the Imperial Homeland has “backstabbed” them by electing a patriot who is not interested in maintaining the global empire (or so he says, at least for the time being).

Putin’s Bear to Obama’s Turkey

Putin's stoic statesmanship speaks for itself.

Not for the first time, the contrast in character between Putin and Obama was illustrated in the latest diplomatic spat over alleged Russian hacking.

For one thing, Putin’s gracious magnanimity always in the face of American provocations shows the Russian leader to be a fine statesman and human being; whereas Obama looks like a pathetic, cheap nonentity.

President Putin made a surprise attack:

He said that his government would not take retaliatory measures. Indeed, he went further by offering seasonal goodwill greetings to President Obama, his family and the people of America, as well as repeating invitations to the children of accredited US diplomats in Russia to festivities being held at the Kremlin.

What is Henry Kissinger Up To? — Paul Craig Roberts

Until Trump relegates 'the neocons' to the ideological backwaters, Russia and China had best hold on to their strategic alliance.

Kissinger, an old cold warrior, is working to use Trump’s commitment to better relations with Russia in order to separate Russia from its strategic alliance with China.

China’s military buildup is a response to US provocations against China and US claims to the South China Sea as an area of US national interests. China does not intend to attack the US and certainly not Russia.

Back to the Future: From the USSR to the Eurasian Century

Get ready, because the thick of the action starts now.

The 2008 casino capitalism-provoked financial crisis, plus the American “resolve” to remake the so-called Greater Middle East through wars of choice, regime change and covert ops miserably failed.

As we wait for the dawn of the Trump era – an almost intergalactic geopolitical question mark – what’s certain is that the War Party US deep state won’t admit defeat. And the key geopolitical riddle to be answered is how strident internal American tensions will deal with the hub of progressive Eurasia integration: Russia, China and Iran.

Japan minister visits controversial shrine honoring war dead after Pearl Harbor trip

Japan's defense minister visited a controversial shrine to Japan's war dead on Thursday, just after accompanying Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on a historic visit to Pearl Harbor, where Japan's attack brought the United States into World War Two.

Television footage showed a smiling Tomomi Inada in a black jacket and skirt arriving at Tokyo's Yasukuni Shrine, which honors Japanese who lost their lives in the country's wars, including several leaders executed for war crimes.

Visits to the shrine by prominent Japanese officials anger neighbors China and South Korea, which consider Yasukuni a symbol of Japan's militarism and a reminder of its wartime atrocities.

China and South Korea again voiced their disapproval on Thursday, with China saying it would make "solemn representations" to Japan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear Japanese Defense Minister Inada; right after the Pearl Harbor visit, the optics of a visit to the Yasukuni Shrine was just...ugly, geopolitically, and insensitive; and I am utterly gobsmacked that you didn't understand this.

Can you please tell Japanese voters just what you intended to signal, with this trip?!? Because I sure as heck do not understand what this is all about.

I do, absolutely, understand why governmental spokespeople from China and South Korea expressed their displeasure so publicly with this trip.

The dynamic future of Asia has to be built on countries in the Asia/Pacific region working together, and collaborating, and building strength, economically and socially, through peaceful trade.

CIA has interfered with over 81 foreign elections in the past century

These acts, carried out in secret two-thirds of the time, include funding the election campaigns of specific parties, disseminating misinformation and propaganda...

China-led AIIB invests in gas pipeline linking Azerbaijan with Turkey, Europe

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has approved its biggest loan so far for the construction of a gas pipeline connecting Azerbaijan to Turkey and Southern Europe.

The Beijing-based AIIB will lend US$600 million to the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP) which, when completed, will transport natural gas from fields in Azerbaijan through Georgia into Turkey and then onto markets in Southern Europe.

The bank said investment in the project, which will be financed together with other multinational lenders including the World Bank as well as commercial investors, was vital for linking the South Caucasian country with new markets.

“This crucial upgrade of energy infrastructure between Asia and Europe will further strengthen the economy of Azerbaijan while underpinning energy security in Turkey, as well as several countries in southern Europe,” AIIB Vice-President DJ Pandian said in a statement on Wednesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This pipeline will be a huge boost, economically, for Azerbaijan, and give Turkey and Southern Europe more options in terms of purchasing natural gas.

Okinawa governor rescinds action against US base relocation

The governor of Okinawa has reportedly rescinded an action against the relocation of a US airbase, despite being an extremely vocal critic against the presence of American troops on the Japanese island, according to sources cited by Kyodo News.

Governor Takeshi Onaga's apparent decision follows his defeat last week in a lawsuit filed by the central government over a plan to move the US Marine Corps Futenma Air Station from Ginowan to the less-populated area of Henoko, in Nago.

Japan’s Supreme Court found that it was illegal for Onaga to revoke the approval granted by his predecessor, Hirokazu Nakaima, for land reclamation required to build replacement runways at the new base.

Bipartisan War – A new study urges more U.S. interventions

Written before the presidential election, the co-authors could not have anticipated a Donald Trump victory, but they might be hoping that the report would serve as a guideline for the new administration.

Hopefully they will be wrong in that expectation, but it is difficult at this point to see where the next White House will be going with its Middle Eastern policy.

There are a number of things wrong with the report from my perspective. Most significant, it assigns to the United States the responsibility to set and enforce standards of governance in parts of the world where the American people have little in the way of actual interests.

The Real Saboteurs of a Trump Foreign Policy

The real danger may be that a new Trump foreign policy could be hijacked or scuttled by anti-Trump Republicans, not only on Capitol Hill but inside the executive branch itself.

Incoming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sees Russian hacking as a way to put a cloud over the administration before it begins. But it is the uber-hawks hereabouts who are after the really big game.

If the War Party can convert this “fake story” into the real story of 2016, then they can scuttle any Trump effort to attain the rapprochement with Russia that Trump promised to try to achieve.

West Directed Killer’s Hand in Assassination of Russian Ambassador

Virtually everything that Western official sources have been saying about Aleppo, and the Syrian war more generally, is seen to be a grotesque lie.

The climax of condemnation reached unconscionable heights last week when Washington, its Western allies and the UN – all amplified unquestioningly by the Western news media – vilified Russia for allegedly slaughtering civilians in east Aleppo. American ambassador Samantha Power specifically cited unverified reports of children being killed in a basement by Syria and Russian forces.
