BEXALERT: Hard to digest: Inmates eat holiday steak during shutdown while prison workers go unpaid

Been there and done that. The BOP has a set menu and the private prisons follow that menu. The grilled steak was most likely fried soy burgers. Never heard of garlic macaroni biscuits. They feed prisoners lots of beans and faux soy meats, very few veggies or fruits, mostly empty carbs. If you are Jewish or Muslim you get to eat kosher or halal, which means you get real meat and fruit and veggies. Never heard of Cornish hens being served, sure never ate one. Chicken wing and thigh day was the best you would get.

Lobe: The role of the Weekly Standard, devoted to Israel, in promoting war

There was really no surprise in this. Just a few floors up from The Standard’s offices were those of the neoconservative American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a veritable hive of pro-war activity and part-time Pentagon “consultants.” AEI was, more specifically, the home of Richard Perle, a favorite of Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, who, as chairman of the Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board, played a critical role in getting Paul Wolfowitz and Douglas Feith placed into their posts as Deputy Secretary of Defense and Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, respectively, and of positioning Iraqi expatriate con man par excellence Ahmad Chalabi at the center of the administration’s policy- and decision-making.

Roy Moore says he was duped into appearing on comedy show

Former U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore says he didn't know he was dealing with comedian Sacha Baron Cohen when he agreed to appear on a television show, his lawyers wrote in court filings last month.

Moore in September filed a $95 million defamation lawsuit over his appearance on Baron Cohen's "Who is America?" In court filings, Moore argued the agreement he signed waiving legal claims from the appearance is unenforceable because of fraud.

Moore said he was told he was receiving an award for supporting Israel and instead was lampooned as a possible pedophile. Moore said the agreement he signed had "zero" mention of Cohen.

The segment ran after Moore faced misconduct accusations during the 2017 Senate race in Alabama. He denied the accusations.

Durgin-Park To Close

Boston Landmark Durgin-Park To Close

Durgin-Park, a centuries-old Boston landmark that has long attracted tourists with its clam chowder, pot roast, and other quintessential New England Yankee fare, is closing its doors.

The Faneuil Hall restaurant will close on Jan. 12, according to restaurant manager Kenneth Thimothee, who cited financial reasons including an increased minimum wage.

“It’s very unfortunate, but the costs are too high,” he said.
The establishment lays a claim to being one of the oldest restaurants in the city. It’s named after John Durgin and Eldridge Park, who along with John Chandler opened it in 1827.

Most of you know that the organs (as Solzhenitsyn might have styled them) are using their effective monopoly control over all modern forms of communication – the Internet, social media – to stifle information and opinion that isn’t orthodox.

For a brief decade or so, the Internet really was free. It enabled contrarian viewpoints to end-run what had been the information lockdown of pre-Internet media outlets – i.e., the major TV networks, of which there were just three; the major print media, of which there were also basically just three – The New York Times, Washington Post and LA Times – all of them run by the ideologically simpatico.

Five Weeks After The Guardian’s Viral Blockbuster Assange-Manafort Scoop, No Evidence Has Emerged — Just Stonewalling

From the start, the massive holes in The Guardian’s blockbuster were glaring. As I noted on the day the story published, analysts from across the political spectrum — including those quite hostile to Assange — expressed serious doubts about the article’s sourcing, internal logic, self-evidently dubious assertions, and overall veracity, even as many media figures uncritically trumpeted it.

In particular:

How could it be that Manafort, of all people, snuck into one of the most monitored, surveilled, videoed, and photographed buildings on the planet on three separate occasions without any of that ostensibly “smoking gun” visual evidence having emerged, including in The Guardian’s own story?

Why would The Guardian publish a story of this magnitude without first requiring that its Ecuadoran intelligence sources provide them with such photographic or video evidence to publish it or at least review prior to publication?

REPOST: The Biggest Secret - My Life as a New York Times Reporter in the Shadow of the War on Terror

One year ago: Former New York Times national security reporter James Risen reveals how the paper repeatedly suppressed stories at the request of the Obama and Bush administrations

I was sitting in the nearly empty restaurant of the Westin Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia, getting ready for a showdown with the federal government that I had been trying to avoid for more than seven years. The Obama administration was demanding that I reveal the confidential sources I had relied on for a chapter about a botched CIA operation in my 2006 book, "State of War." I had also written about the CIA operation for the New York Times, but the paper’s editors had suppressed the story at the government’s request. It wasn’t the only time they had done so.

Outrage after Netflix pulls comedy show criticising Saudi Arabia

Netflix has taken down an episode of a satirical comedy show critical of Saudi Arabia in the country after officials from the kingdom complained, sparking criticism from Human Rights Watch, which said the act undermined the streaming service’s “claim to support artistic freedom”.

It comes three months after the brutal killing of the Saudi dissident and Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi – which US senators have blamed on the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman – and as the war in Yemen continues to devastate the country.

The American comedian Hasan Minhaj was critical of the Saudi heir in an episode of the standup show Patriot Act, delivering a wide-ranging monologue mocking the Saudis’ evolving account of what happened inside the country’s consulate in Istanbul in October, when the journalist was killed.

Fake News & Feminism - MGTOW

I'm going to take this opportunity to discuss what happened a while back when Hilary Clinton made the following statements about the so called fake news. I'm sure everyone has heard the argument from the mainstream media by now that mainstream news outlets called the presidential election for Hilary Clinton and were probably hoping that if they said it enough times then this would provide enough social proof for voters to go out there and vote for Hilary. By the way her presidential campaign cost over one billion dollars. When she lost she was throwing furniture around the room on election and getting violent with people. But when she finally calmed down she brought up the issue of fake news at a speech for Harry Reid's retirement party mentioning that the US government and Silicon Valley were going to team up and start to punish fake news sites.

Top 10 FAKE NEWS liberal media stories of 2018 designed to keep the “sheeple” brainwashed and voting for more Democratic-Socialistic-Communistic abuse

Mainstream news is fake news, through and through. Nearly every story is twisted or straight up made up and fabricated out of thin air, all to support diabolical narratives that keep their clones highly emotional, frustrated, and distracted from anything and everything that really matters in this world. -- Even when the major networks, newspapers and websites get caught red-handed fabricating stories, embellishing, and horribly exaggerating, they never admit it, apologize, or outright walk-it-back. All they do is publish some tiny blurb in some obscure spot about a “misprint,” or they simply just claim their source may have misinterpreted something somehow somewhere (imagine that). The total tell-tale sign of fake news rears its ugly head anytime they claim that the source or sources are “anonymous.”

BBC office fails to confirm data from its own publication - Russian diplomat

The British broadcaster BBC’s Moscow office has once again failed to confirm that it filed a complaint with the Russian foreign ministry following publication of the list of its 44 employees, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Sunday.

"On Sunday morning, we contacted the BBC office where we ran into a very strange situation because the office said it could not confirm data from its own publication. We asked to tell us when the complaint was lodged and by whom to, at least, figure out what the whole thing was about. As a result, correspondents from the office, or, to be more precise, not correspondents but office employees, were unable to say when and where the complaint was filed," she said in an interview with the Ekho Moskvy radio station.

According to the Russian diplomat, the office’s employees only "passed the buck to London saying that the entire information originates from there." What is now going on there is paradox and absurd, she stressed.

Two More Spiegel Employees Out After Fake News Scandal Expands

Two senior editors at Germany's Der Spiegel have been fired amid the country's largest newsroom scandal in decades.

Ullrich Fichtner, and editor-in-chief, and Matthias Geyer, a chief editor, have been "suspended until the (magazine's) internal commission has completed its investigation into the affair," according to editor-in-chief Steffen Klusmann, according to AFP, citing a copy of an internal letter obtained on Friday.

"Superstar" journalist Claas Relotius, a 33-year-old reporter for Der Spiegel and several other publications, falsified at least 14 articles according to Klusmann. Relotius abruptly resigned amid the December 19 announcement by Der Spiegel.

"The Relotius affair raises the question as to whether" Ullrich and Fichtner "can continue in their jobs after such a disaster," said Klusmann. "The first discovered it for Der Spiegel, the second hired him and was until recently his superior."

Outrage After Swedish TV Downplays Gruesome ISIS Beheadings, Threatens Prison For Sharing Video

Swedish state broadcaster SVT has outraged viewers after they ran an article claiming that the gruesome ISIS-inspired murder of two Scandinavian girls in Morocco "had nothing to do with Islam," before warning Swedes that sharing a graphic beheading video of the incident could result in up to four years of imprisonment.

Maren Ueland, 28, of Norway and Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, 24, of Denmark were murdered while backpacking in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco. Both girls were stabbed multiple times, while one of them was beheaded on video. The culprits can then be seen pledging allegiance to the Islamic State leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

The ISIS fanatics gloated about the killing - while images of the killing were posted to the Facebook page of Ueland's mother, and the video was sent via Private Message to Ms. Jesperson's friends, according to the Daily Mail.

The struggle for the future of this country is being fought in the hearts and minds of its citizens. The media is the enemy and Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the warrior who takes them on day after day.

The huge media sector easily outnumbers the Ouachita Baptist University grad taking them on.

CNN alone has 4,000 employees. The New York Times has nearly as many. And when she singlehandedly faces off against 49 people in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room and the less than 30 people on her staff take on a mainstream media machine of tens of thousands, it’s a true underdog story.

For a year and a half, Sanders has been reporting for duty as the White House Press Secretary. She’s been shouted at, called names, had her appearance demeaned, and was kicked out of a restaurant. Mainstream media White House correspondents, invariably male, try to talk over her and shout her down. But she’s been so effective that there have been calls by the media to boycott her press briefings.

Google Erases Map of Kurdistan After Turkey Complains of ‘Terrorist Propaganda’

Kurdish news agencies report on Friday that a map of greater Kurdistan – featuring territory belonging to Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Syria – no longer appears on Google Earth, replaced by a message stating that the map violated “our Terms of Service and/or policies.”

The map, which appeared to be user-generated and not a recognition of a sovereign state of “Kurdistan,” became the focal point of controversy this week after several Turkish lawmakers complained that the map was “at the service of terrorist organizations” by recognizing the existence of a territory where ethnic Kurds are the majority.
