How The Media Buried Two Huge FBI Stories Yesterday

For more than a year and a half, the media have gone all-in on reporting every possible angle of President Donald Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia. No story update has been too small, no encounter with a Russian too inconsequential, and no anonymous source too sketchy to generate outsize coverage and histrionic claims from major media.

But as the Russian collusion story disintegrates, another interesting story ascends. Investigations by multiple congressional committees as well as an investigation by the inspector general of the Department of Justice have shown irregularities in the handling of the most politically sensitive probes in recent memory: the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information while secretary of State and the investigation into the Trump campaign’s alleged nefarious ties with Russia to meddle in a U.S. election.

Russian-Turkish axis in Syria faces meltdown

With suspicions running high that the nominal allies drew each other's blood on February 3, Ankara may well seek a modus vivendi with the US.

Two things differentiate the downing of a Russian Su-25 ground-attack jet in the western province of Idlib on February 3 from the drone attacks on the Russian air base at Hmeimim a month earlier.

Suffice to say, the air is thick with innuendos and dark hints that Russia and Turkey may have drawn each other’s blood on February 3, despite notionally being allies in Syria’s hybrid war.

The Nunes Memo Needs More Work – Philip Giraldi

As a former intelligence officer, the first thing I noticed was that the claim by Democrats on the Committee that the memo’s release amounted to “treason” and would compromise classified information does not hold water.

Even the FISA court is aware of FBI inventiveness.

FBI procedures and ambiguities aside, this is nevertheless serious business.

If it can be determined that the omissions in submissions to the FISC were deliberate and calculated, the astute blogger Publius Tacitus has correctly observed that some senior FBI and DOJ officials who signed off on misleading or fraudulent applications concealing the antecedents of the so-called Steele Dossier to the FISC are now facing possible contempt-of-court charges that would include prison sentences. They include James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Sally Yates, Dana Boente and Rob Rosenstein.

The FBI and the President – Mutual Manipulation

Seldom has there been greater collusion in the perpetration of crimes against civil liberties, electoral freedom and free and lawful expression as what has taken place between the FBI and the US Justice Department.

Few government organizations have been engaged in violation of the US citizens’ constitutional rights for as long a time and against as many individuals as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Seldom has there been greater collusion in the perpetration of crimes against civil liberties, electoral freedom and free and lawful expression as what has taken place between the FBI and the US Justice Department.

Britain's Mirror buys Express for £126.7m as sales drop

The publisher of Britain's left-wing Daily Mirror newspaper struck a £126.7 million deal on Friday to buy a series of titles including the right-wing Daily Express in a bid to stem a decline in advertising revenues and sales.

The papers were the biggest two in Britain after World War II but are both seeing big drops in circulation, according to the latest figures.

The £126.7 million ($176 million, 143.6 million) deal signals a major consolidation for a sector that is struggling against falling revenues in Britain.

The Daily Mirror had a daily circulation of around 580,000 in December 2017, a drop of 18.84 percent since the same month in 2016, while the Daily Express fell to around 364,000—a decline of 6.82 percent.

German AfD Party to Set Up Newsroom in Spring to Bypass 'Fake News'

The parliamentary group of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is going to redirect its communication to its own newsroom scheduled to be launched in spring in order to avoid any misinterpretations of party's positions by mainstream media, AfD parliamentary leader Alice Weidel said Thursday.

"As long as the AfD is ignored by many media or deliberately targeted by fake news, there can only be this way," Weidel told the Focus magazine, commenting on the party's move.

US ambassador clashes with Israeli Haaretz paper over who lacks more ‘decency’

An Haaretz columnist, who has been attacked for an opinion piece criticizing David Friedman’s support for Israeli settlements, has told RT he stands by the freedom of speech, something the US ambassador knows little about.

“I still think, and cannot think otherwise, that all the settlements are in violation of international law,” Haaretz columnist Gideon Levy, at the center of the recent scandal, told RT. “I guess the ambassador knows too little about freedom of speech, about the right to criticize even his Excellency the Ambassador to the United States.”

News Corp CEO rails at 'dysfunctional' online environment

News Corp's chief executive on Thursday took a swipe at Google and Facebook for fostering a "dysfunctional" and "debased" online environment which harms the news media and responsible journalism.

Robert Thompson, CEO of the publishing arm of Rupert Murdoch's media empire, stepped up his criticism of the online giants as the company released its quarterly earnings.

Thompson said the steps announced by Google and Facebook to stem misinformation and improve the quality of online news were "modest steps toward changing a digital environment that is dysfunctional at its core."

"The bot-infested badlands are hardly a safe space for advertisers, whose brands are being tainted by association with the extreme, the violent and the repulsive."

Webmaster's Commentary:

MR. Thompson, a word please: a lot of the independent media completely distanced from Google and Facebook, do a very creditable job of reporting the truth, and this is why you are losing viewership, and we ( at sites like WRH) are gaining.

Our reporting is neither debased nor chaotic; it is as factual as humanly possible, and not supportive of either US government narratives, leading usually to wars, or US government agendas, the primary purpose of which to achieve US world hegemony and domination.

Living in an Orwellian Tyranny

Yesterday Nick Timothy, Theresa May's former aide, was accused of using an antisemitic slur in his article on Brexit. He co-authored a Telegraph report titled, George Soros, the man who 'broke the Bank of England', backing secret plot to thwart Brexit.

Not only did Timothy not criticise Soros as a Jew, he didn’t even refer to him as a Jew. But it seems the fact that Soros is a Jew was enough to censure Timothy as an ‘antisemite.’ It took no more.

“Fake News” Is Fake News

The people who created Facebook and Google must be smart. They’re billionaires, their companies are worth multi-multi billions, their programs are used by billions around the world.

But all these smart people, because of Congressional pressure, have swallowed the stories about “fake news”. Facebook hired a very large staff of people to read everything posted by users to weed out the fake stuff. That didn’t last too long at all before the company announced that it wasn’t “comfortable” deciding which news sources are the most trustworthy in a “world with so much division”. We all could have told them that, couldn’t we?

Facebook’s previous efforts to ask its users to determine the accuracy of news did not turn out any better. Last year, the company launched a feature that allowed users to flag news stories they felt were inaccurate. The experiment was shuttered after nine months.

Anti-Semitism accusations leveled at the Telegraph following its George Soros ‘exclusive’

Theresa May’s former chief of staff, Nick Timothy, has been accused of “peddling textbook anti-Semitic tropes” in a Telegraph article outlining George Soros’ £400,000 donation to a pro-EU lobby group.

Following the article’s publication on Thursday, Timothy was accused of anti-Semitism in the front-page exclusive he co-authored, and which RT UK along with many other national outlets picked up.

The article outlines how Soros, described by the Telegraph as the “man who broke the Bank of England” in reference to the fortune he made betting against the sterling in the 1990s, is attempting to undermine the Tory government by donating £400,000 (US$560,000) to pro-EU group Best for Britain.

Professor Stephen F. Cohen: Rethinking Putin – A Critical Reading

Professor Cohen is right: the real Putin has absolutely nothing, nothing at all, in common with the pseudo-Putin the Western media presents to its infinitely gullible and zombified audience.

I do believe that Professor Cohen will eventually go down in history as the most intellectually honest and courageous Russia expert in the US. In the meanwhile, the West is still stuck in its old, ideological ways: imperialism, nationalism and messianic exclusivism on one hand, and a complete surrender to post-modernism, cultural self-hatred, petty minority politics and moral relativism on the other.

“Even when pressed by the demands of inner truth, men do not easily assume the task of opposing their government’s policy, especially in time of war. Nor does the human spirit move without great difficulty against all the apathy of conformist thought within one’s own bosom and in the surrounding world. Moreover, when the issues at hand seem as perplexing as they often do in the case of this dreadful conflict, we are always on the verge of being mesmerized by uncertainty. But we must move on.” ~ Martin King, Beyond Vietnam, April 4, 1967

US jets bomb 'pro-regime' forces in Syria, killing 100

U.S. air strikes late Wednesday into early Thursday killed more than 100 fighters aligned with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, American military officials said.

The U.S. jets and artillery were called in when Syrian “pro-regime forces” moved tanks and artillery and fired mortars about 5 miles east of the Euphrates River in Khusham, Syria.

The river has long been a dividing line between U.S.-backed forces and Russian- or Iranian-backed fighters of the Assad regime.

The build-up of Syrian pro-regime forces took place over the past week and included approximately 500 fighters in a large, formation supported by artillery, tanks, multiple-launch rocket systems and mortars, one official said.

Ohio Gov. Candidate Dennis Kucinich Calls Out The Deep State, MSM Can’t Handle It

By Brandon Turbeville

Dennis Kucinich, who recently launched his campaign for Governor of Ohio, has never been afraid to go against the grain and speak out with an unpopular opinion and an unpopular time. This was the case when he was mayor of Cleveland and throughout his tenure as a Congressman. It was also the case when, after the election of Donald Trump, Kucinich spoke out against an obvious attempt by the Deep State to control and steer the new Trump administration in a direction of their own using internal leaks, scandals, and other forms of pressure against the President.

Unfortunately for Kucinich, in Democratic party circles as well as in the mainstream media, it’s become a law that, before you can speak a word, you must first condemn Donald Trump. Anything short of disagreement on every aspect of Trump’s administration and raving attacks on his every move is considered treason...

Tim Allen Joins Anti-PC Comedy Documentary ‘No Safe Spaces’

Not only is Tim Allen a Republican in Hollywood, he dared have a show in which he played one on television. For 130 episodes, his show “Last Man Standing” commonly expressed conservative views to an audience of almost 9 million per episode.

Despite the show’s wild success, it was canceled in May of 2017 after six seasons, and many quickly began to suspect that politics played a role in the cancellation. Allen simply said that he was “stunned and blindsided by the network I called home for the last six years.”

ABC said that they canceled the show because they were doing away with comedy shows on Friday nights, but they could’ve easily moved it to another day of the week.

Las Vegas Review-Journal killed story in 1998 about Steve Wynn sex misconduct claims

Claims that casino developer Steve Wynn sexually harassed employees could have surfaced years ago but the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 1998 stopped publication of a story that would have brought the issue to light. After killing the article, the newspaper ordered the reporter who wrote it to delete it from the newspaper’s computer system.

The Review-Journal’s decision came after Wynn’s attorneys met with the reporter and the newspaper paid for lie-detector tests for two women who alleged a culture of harassment at the Wynn-owned Mirage.

Allegations about Wynn’s conduct appeared in a Wall Street Journal story last month. Similar claims were made in a court filing in 1998.

In a lawsuit, a Mirage cocktail server alleged supervisors did not protect women from gamblers who harassed them. She said waitresses were sent to sexually “accommodate” high rollers at the resort’s luxury villas throughout the 1990s.

Monday Massacre At Newsweek Leaves Publication With Uncertain Future

When asked about the uncertain climate at Newsweek, national affairs reporter Alexander Nazaryan expressed confusion, telling The Daily Caller News Foundation that “Honestly I know less than anyone.”

Both Katz and Saul had written a number of articles investigating Newsweek Media Group, the parent organization of Newsweek and IBT.

The shakeup Monday is just the latest series of troubles facing the struggling media company. Officials from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office raided Newsweek’s offices in January and confiscated servers as evidence for an ongoing criminal investigation into the company’s finances.

The co-founder of Newsweek Media Group, Etienne Uzac, as well as his wife and financial director Marion Kim, resigned Thursday in the midst of the DA’s investigation.

You’ve done it now, Mogg. The BBC will be out for your blood

The morning after being ‘caught up in a scuffle’ at the University of the West of England (a scene that BBC Somerset’s James Craig described as ‘very aggressive and unexpected’), found Jacob Rees-Mogg being interviewed on BBC Radio Four’s Today programme.

The purpose of the interview was not, though, the previous night’s headline-making attack on him, which was sufficiently intimidating to draw condemnation from both Labour’s Shadow Education spokesman Angela Rayner and the Lib Dems’ Jo Swinson.

It was not this at the front of presenter Nick Robinson’s mind. He neither bothered to inquire what had happened (which would have given him an account from the horse’s mouth), nor asked after his interviewee’s wellbeing, or even what Mr Rees-Mogg made of this assault on free speech.

One consequence of this continuing Republican incompetence is that it allows the presstitutes, who also know about the FISA court memorandum, to ignore that confessions validating the “Nunes Memo” are in the hands of the FISA court. US Sanctions, Baffled Russians, Hot Air and History – The Saker
