Mainstream Media has Lost Control: Let the Whining Begin

Actually, the “begin” part of the title might be a bit of an exaggeration as we have heard whining on this front for some time. Allow me to offer a recent – and rather blatant – example:

Press Versus Liars: Doing Good Journalism in These Trying Times

That’s the headline at Spiegel. Perhaps it doesn’t come across the same way in German, but it sure sounds over-the-top in English. There is what you hear from the (established) press, and there is what you hear elsewhere. What you hear from the press is true; what you hear elsewhere is lies.

Spiegel recognizes that credibility is lost; restoring that credibility is, somehow, your responsibility (emphasis added):

Zika: Biggest News Service In America Absolutely Clueless

Okay, here we go.

Of course, I’m talking about the Associated Press (AP)—and its recent coverage of the Zika story: January 27, “270 of 4,180 suspected microcephaly cases confirmed.”

AP actually had its hands on the most explosive information possible, it reported that information in one stunning paragraph, and then it let that paragraph sit there like a dead corpse. It didn’t do anything with it. Just another day at the office. Connect the dots? See the implications? Never heard of it.

War games. Bit of an oxymoron, isn’t it? However, Russia recently having annexed a whole chunk of the former Soviet Union, the prospect of an East-West conflict is less unimaginable now than it has been since 1989.

Jewish West Bank settlers are as smug as white South Africans in 1980

The great South African black poet Dennis Brutus once told me an anecdote that summed up this smug view. Brutus, who passed on in 2009, was the man who encouraged me to go to southern Africa and see for myself. He had been imprisoned on Robben Island in the 1960s, alongside Nelson Mandela and other national leaders. “One day one of the white warders approached,” Brutus said in his mellifluous voice. “He said, ‘Brutus, you seem like an intelligent man — why do you fight against a system that you will never be able to change?’ He was a decent sort, so I answered, ‘And why do you think you will keep dominating us forever?’ He answered simply, ‘Because America will never stop supporting us.'”

The same self-confident attitude shines through in Weiss’s reports. The settlers are absolutely certain the Israeli government will never uproot them, and behind that is the unspoken conviction that the United States will never put significant pressure on Israel.

The bad news for Ted Cruz

The bad news for Ted Cruz: His Iowa win looks very similar to Mike Huckabee’s and Rick Santorum’s

Ted Cruz's Iowa victory was a surprise, after the final polls showed him trailing Donald Trump. But Cruz also followed a very familiar path to victory in the Hawkeye State: heavy reliance on strong conservatives and evangelical Christians -- and not on first-time caucus-goers.

The entrance polling shows Iowa's Republican electorate was rich with both groups, with more than 6 in 10 identifying as evangelical Christians (64 percent) and 4 in 10 saying their political views are "very conservative."

More than three-quarters of Cruz's supporters identified as evangelical Christians, compared with fewer than 6 in 10 of Marco Rubio and Donald Trump supporters.

A Detailed Look at The New York Times’ Embarrassing, Deceitful and Illogical Endorsement of Hillary Clinton

In its endorsement of Hillary, the New York Times editorial board did such a sloppy job I can’t help but think it may have done permanent damage to its brand. Upon reading it, my initial conclusion was that the editorial board was either suffering from Stockholm syndrome or merely concerned about losing advertising revenues should they endorse Sanders. Then I thought some more and I realized my initial conclusions were wrong. Something else is going on here, something far more subtle, subconscious and illuminating. The New York Times is defending the establishment candidate simply because the New York Times is the establishment.

Why Clinton's Apparent Iowa Win Feels More Like a Loss

***
there are three reasons why this apparent victory for Clinton feels more like a loss.
One, there's already controversy, with the Sanders camp alleging that due to Iowa Democratic Party mismanagement, reports were late coming in from about 90 precincts
***
Two, winning essentially by one vote (err, five state delegate equivalents) instead of 1 percentage point, denied Clinton the opportunity to use ANY win as momentum heading into New Hampshire, where Sanders enjoys a sizable lead

Three, if you don't want to take our word for it, here's the attitude inside Clinton Land. "Clinton advisers … said they did not know if a significant staff shakeup was at hand, but they said that the Clintons were disappointed with Monday night's result and wanted to ensure that her organization, political messaging and communications strategy were in better shape for the contests to come,"

It examines the attempts to break up Syria’s civilian and military institutions, the delegitimization of the Syrian government, the attempts to procure a UN mandate for a military intervention in Syria, the imposition of suffocating economic sanctions on Syria, and most importantly the support that Western and regional powers gave to a plethora of armed groups, including al-Qaeda and ISIS, to fight the Syrian government.

The “Bernie Bros” Narrative: a Cheap Campaign Tactic Masquerading as Journalism and Social Activism

The concoction of the “Bernie Bro” narrative by pro-Clinton journalists has been a potent political tactic — and a journalistic disgrace. It’s intended to imply two equally false claims: (1) a refusal to march enthusiastically behind the Wall Street-enriched, multiple-war-advocating, despot-embracing Hillary Clinton is explainable not by ideology or political conviction, but largely if not exclusively by sexism: demonstrated by the fact that men, not women, support Sanders (his supporters are “bros”); and (2) Sanders supporters are uniquely abusive and misogynistic in their online behavior.

Global Deal To Cut Oil Production Unlikely

Conflicting reports last week that renewed anticipation of global oil production cuts, then quickly squelched it, left in doubt the prospects of crude prices that have plunged 70% the past 18 months and rocked the global economy.

News that OPEC and Russia could meet in February to trim output pushed up West Texas Intermediate 8% until reports shot down the possibility, causing crude to give back much of the advance. Still, speculation of a deal left the U.S. benchmark up 4% the past two trading days at $33.62 a barrel, capping its second straight weekly gain.

So is a global oil agreement likely?

Media Just Accused Megyn Kelly Of HELPING Trump In A Huge Way, She’s Not Going To Like This…

Multiple media outlets noted how Fox News host Megyn Kelly went after Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz over changes in their positions on immigration at Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate, and one of those outlets is arguing it is all to the benefit of Donald Trump.

Rule 1: Talk About Anything Political in Hollywood ... Except Gaza

As casualties mount in Gaza, an uncharacteristic reticence about the conflict has settled over high-level Hollywood. Cultural affinity and political support for Israel run deep in the entertainment industry, as they have since Israel's founding in 1948. It's commonplace for top executives to be on a first-name basis with prominent Israeli politicians and business leaders. As a consequence, the current Israeli incursion into Gaza, even with its civilian and child casualties, has not generated public debate among executive ranks. The celebrities and athletes who have expressed pro-Palestinian sentiments are being dismissed — for now at least — as "uninformed," an adjective expressed to THR by several top executives.

Western State Terrorists Slander Putin

Washington and London are all-out to demonize Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Only days after a British judge insinuated that Putin had ordered the murder of a former Russian intelligence agent, the BBC and the American Treasury Department were accusing the Russian president of financial corruption. Meanwhile, in the world of hard facts Washington and London are guilty of state terrorism involving the murder of millions of innocent people. We may marvel at the discrepancy. It’s called brainwashing

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

One cant understand the Palestinian-zionist conflict without bringing the whole geopolitical context that happened for half a century (and even beyond that) before the actual ethnic cleansing of Palestine:

First, Palestine was inhabited by the native Palestinians (regardless of their religion) for Thousands of years before the zionist thought to build their "jewish state" in Palestine.

Wow: Mark Dice on who runs Hollywood: "Ask about another group's influence and your career will be over within hours."

I've never heard Mark Dice talk about the Jews or Zionism, and he did not mention them, but this recent tweet from him about who runs Hollywood is very ... umm, 'interesting,' lol.

Paul Krugman Unironically Anoints Himself Arbiter of “Seriousness”: Only Clinton Supporters Eligible

For years, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman has repeatedly complained about the D.C. orthodoxy-enforcing tactic of labeling only those who subscribe to Washington pieties as “Very Serious People,” or “VSPs.” It’s a term Krugman borrowed (with credit) from the liberal blogger Atrios, who first coined it to illustrate how Iraq War opponents were instantly marginalized in establishment discourse and only war advocates were deemed to be Serious. Krugman mockingly uses it so often that the New York Times created a special tag for the term. The primary purpose of the “VSP” tactic is to malign anyone who dissents from D.C. establishment pieties as non-Serious or un-Serious, thus demeaning the person as someone who can (and should) be ignored as residing on the fringe, unworthy of engagement or a real platform regardless of the merits of their position.

CNN Will Air Trump Rally Opposite Fox News Debate

CNN has announced that they will air Trump’s rally that he is holding live opposite the Fox News Debate in a bit of a shameless ratings play. The thinking here is that this might cut into Fox News ratings, but let’s be honest: the people who were only tuning in to watch Trump were not going to watch tomorrow night anyway. The fact that he will be on CNN will not really change that equation.

The Cooptation of Satyrical Media: Hillary Clinton’s Top Financial Supporter Now Controls “The Onion”

Onion staffers may think twice before they produce more stories like Hillary Clinton Tries To Woo Voters By Rescinding Candidacy, Hillary Clinton To Nation: ‘Do Not Fuck This Up For Me,’ Hillary Clinton: The Merciless, Unrelenting March To The Presidency, or the signed Hillary Clinton editorial titled I’m Weighing Whether Or Not I Want To Go Through The Hell Of Appealing To You Idiotic, Uninformed Oafs.

Many news outlets covered Univision Communications’ purchase last week of a stake in The Onion, the world’s leading news publication. According to NPR, Univision bought a 40 percent controlling interest in the company, and also acquired the option to buy the remainder of The Onion in the future.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One also has to wonder about Clinton's connection to Comedy Central.

A couple of nights ago, on "The Daily Show". Trevor Noah did a hit piece on Bernie Sanders, including a photoshopped image of him buck naked from the back, with a garlanded g string.

Larry Wilmore, of "The Nightly Show", also appears to have been giving his marching orders to demonise both Trump and Sanders.

But I have noticed that neither has so much as breathed one quiet sentence, unflattering to Hillary Clinton.

Interesting.

BEX Alert!!! - "Report: LaVoy Finicum, armed with a handgun, reached for his waistband just before he was shot "

Everyone knew that LaVoy Finicum kept a Colt .45 on his hip.

That common knowledge could help explain how the occupier in Oregon died.

In the moments before he was shot by authorities Tuesday afternoon, Finicum led a high-speed getaway attempt. He then reached for his waistband, prompting authorities to open fire, according to a CNN report.

The report, which cites anonymous law enforcement officials but has not been confirmed by The Washington Post, is corroborated by a statement from an occupier who said he was traveling with Finicum at the time of the traffic stop.

Another self-described witness disputes that, saying that authorities opened fire before the getaway chase and that Finicum had his hands up when he was shot.

NYT: Global Warming Could Be Causing Malformed Babies In Brazil

The paper notes that researchers have suggested the Zika virus, which has stoked widespread panic in pregnant women in Mexico and Brazil, is likely the result of an upsurge in the mosquito population brought on by global warming. The carrier of the disease, a mosquito called the Aedes, is believed to carry other viruses, such as Dengue and Yellow fever.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The fact that GM versions of that exact mosquito were being released into the wild at that time is, of course, not to be considered as having anything to do with the problem.

This uprising is about more than knives

Inevitably, the journalists left once a massive crackdown significantly reduced the number of deadly attacks against Israelis in the city. It is an all too familiar pattern for Palestinians, who know by now that it’s only “escalation” when there are dead or wounded Israelis. Deaths, injuries, arrests and home demolitions inflicted on Palestinians by Israel are deemed business as usual, not worthy of further inquiry.

Jan 28 08:46

Is the dreaded Zika virus another giant scam?

So we now have governments warning women not to get pregnant. A new form of depopulation. Don’t get pregnant. If you do, and a mosquito bites you, you could give birth to a severely damaged child. Not only that, we have massive advisories against travel, for pregnant women. And 200,000 soldiers in Brazil, the site of the upcoming Olympics, are going door to door and distributing information about this new “plague.” Are the soldiers also telling men and women not to have sex? Who knows?

So let’s take a little side trip to Scam City and examine the science behind the Zika virus and the assertion that it is causing birth defects.

bex alert - Thank God for conspiracy theorists – they keep our society sharp

Those so-called “scientists” are at it again. First they tried to make us believe that men really landed on the moon. Now they’re claiming, with characteristic cheek, that any other theory is mathematically impossible.

An Oxford physicist, Dr David Grimes, has created an equation which expresses the maximum longevity of any given secret as a function of the number of people who are in on it. A plot involving 125 people might last a century, whereas one involving the 411,000 employees of Nasa would leak within three years and eight months.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The corporate media must be in a panic if they are piling fake Apollo landings, flat earth, and the holocaust into one big pile! :)

Even more amazing, they are allowing comments on this one!

EXPOSED: FoxNews Planned an ‘Ambush’ for Donald Trump at Iowa Debate

And today it was revealed how Trump’s decision may have been brilliant in light of shocking invitations from Fox News and Google to anti-Trump activists to participate and ask questions of the candidates — including a Muslim and an illegal alien.

FoxNews and Google invited three YouTube personalities who will be allowed to address the candidates directly at the debate. Two of them appear to have been chosen by Fox and Google because of their opposition to Trump’s positions against radicals Muslims and in favor of deporting illegal aliens.

FoxNews and the RNC approved the liberal Google’s choice of these radical activist. The third, Mark Watson, is a Black activist whose position on Trump is unknown.

The network, currently reeling from Trump’s debate withdrawal, is not responding to media inquiries as to why they accepted radical leftist activists to question GOP candidates.

Trump boycotts debate, says Fox’s Megyn Kelly is unfair

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump won't take part in Thursday's debate, claiming the Fox's Megyn Kelly isn't fair to him.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Kelly was hardly fair and balanced in the debates. She was in full-on attack mode right from the start as FOX wants to get Trump out of the race and move the party favorites forward; a repeat of how they treated Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012.

But FOX's hard line is going to blow up in their faces. The debate is going to be the losers, Megyn Kelly foremost among them, whining about Trump for on hour and a half. I don't intend to waste my time watching this debate and I suspect the audience numbers for the debate will be very low.
