My Two Cents: Disinformation in decline

It is a popular myth that the press is in business to make money with advertising. In truth, most of the American media are in business to make official announcements and shape public opinion.

Abraham Lincoln said, “In this and like communities, public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it, nothing can succeed. Consequently, he who molds public sentiment goes deeper than he who enacts statutes or pronounces decisions.”

What Americans know and don’t know is carefully controlled. Americans may be the most uninformed and misinformed people in the world, thanks to newspapers like the Post and Gazette.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I disagree that the level of government/corporate disinformation is in decline. Quite the contrary, they seem to have shoved the throttle wide open in a last-ditch attempt to reclaim the high ground.

There's Hope America: Anchor Walks Off Live TV, Refuses To Report On Kardashians

Is the distracted citizenry beginning to wake up? We can only hope so. Giving hope to Americans everywhere, after covering the usual local news, Orlando-area news anchor John Brown was transitioning into a segment about one of the Kardashian daughters recently naming her new pet rabbit "Bruce," he stood up and walked off set exclaiming, "I am having a good Friday, so I refuse to talk about the Kardashians today, you are on your own, Amy. I can’t do it." As the program’s co-host storms off set, he can be heard off-screen shouting, "I’ve had enough Kardashians. I can’t take any more Kardashian stories on this show."

Don’t Be Fooled by the Political Game: The Illusion of Freedom in America

snip: “We the people” now belong to a permanent underclass in America. It doesn’t matter what you call us—chattel, slaves, worker bees, drones, it’s all the same—what matters is that we are expected to march in lockstep with and submit to the will of the state in all matters, public and private. Through our complicity in matters large and small, we have allowed an out-of-control corporate-state apparatus to take over every element of American society.

Little-Known Facts About the Fox News Republican Debate

TIME has posted the transcript of the August 6th Fox News Channel Republican Presidential candidates’ debate, and there are a number of interesting features in it that have not generally been covered in the press:

Marco Rubio Pretends Those Billionaire Bucks Don't Buy Any Influence

Marco Rubio wants us to believe that all of that money flowing his way from the millionaires and billionaires funding his super pacs and political campaign don't have a bit of influence on his agenda.

And once again we can give Meet the Press host Chuck Todd the award for the false equivalency of the day for conflating the Clinton's charity with a political pac and treating them like they're the same thing with the framing the questions for Rubio. We all know you're never allowed to ask someone about Republicans behaving badly without the appropriate "but the Democrats" thrown in there as well, which is exactly what Todd did here.

Greece – A Dramatic Appeal by Mikis Theodorakis

The signatories are calling “all the peoples of the world, to realize that the struggle of the Greek people is also their struggle”.

Friends of Greece,

On 3 August 2015, MikisTheodorakis, the Greek world famous music composer and Resistance figure, called upon the Greek people – and the peoples of the world – to respect Democracy – the very Democracy, born in Greece some 2500 years ago and given to the world as a set of values for respect for each other, for humanity – for equal rights and for free expression.

The following text summarizes MikisTheodorakis’ appeal to stop the Syriza Government from selling out the Greek people’s country and stop the currently – almost in secret – ongoing negotiations with the troika on the modalities of the € 86 billion loan and the details of the new austerity measures – “negotiations” to be concluded by about 20 August 2015.

Trump trumps them all in Republican debates — Pepe Escobar

"Our country is in serious trouble. We don’t win anymore..." Donald Trump

Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz has said that the US, on the financial front, is “on the wrong side of history.” As for the Republican candidates chasing the nomination for the 2016 US presidential race, well, they may qualify only for the ‘wrong’ side of the bargain, as they hardly know what ‘history’ means.
And that brings us to a mammoth specimen of entertainment/reality TV; the first Republican debate, no less than a seemingly-eternal 15 months before the actual US presidential election.

It definitely started with a – what else? – celebrity TV bang. Would anybody raise their hands if they were mulling running as a third-party candidate, and ignore the eventual Republican nominee?

Hijacking the Rhetoric

Holocaust could be countered, neutralized and nullified with 100 million African slave victims of Jewish slave traders, 60 million Christian Russian victims of Jewish Communism, 8 million Holodomor, 1.5 million Armenian genocide, 15 million burnt German victims, and the still on-going Palestinian and Middle Eastern genocide.

Soft Power Dictatorships Versus A Soft and Hard Power Failing Imperial Democracy

The New York Times is a very good newspaper, except where ideology and party line demands intrude. Unfortunately these intrusions occur often and are of great importance. The Times is the paper of record of an imperial superpower whose leaders have long and regularly flaunted international law and used their great military and economic power recklessly, in good part because they can get away with it. They push and push, eventually starting or provoking a war when their target refuses to surrender (see Gareth Porter’s Perils of Dominance). The collapse of the Soviet Union worsened this situation by removing a force of containment.

He referred in particular to the Greek referendum in which the Greek people on 5 July 2015 voted with an overwhelming 61% against the continuation of the economic and financial strangulation of Greece by the infamous troika – the European Central Bank (ECB), the European Commission (EC) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

A Cold Summer for Europe

In the whole modern history of Europe, there was not such a shameful surrender, or even treason. ‘Alexis Tsipras’ is a Greek translation of ‘Vidkun Quisling’ or of ‘Maréchal Pétain’.

After the Syriza debacle of Greece, there is a very little trust for left-wing rhetoric. In the whole modern history of Europe, there was not such a shameful surrender, or even treason. ‘Alexis Tsipras’ is a Greek translation of ‘Vidkun Quisling’ or of ‘Maréchal Pétain’. The man received the full support of his people, and chickened out. (The first step of Syriza after the fiasco was to enter into military cooperation with Israel.) Now only the far-right Golden Dawn speaks loudly against surrender to the bankers, but this is a party in opposition, and it risks nothing by speaking out.

The Grateful Dead's Farewell Tour Was The Most-Watched Musical Pay-Per-View Event Ever

Over the years it’s been made clear that the Grateful Dead have a massive, dedicated following, so It isn’t hard to believe that the livestreaming of the band’s final five concerts ended up being the biggest pay-per-view musical event of all time.

(*That comes from Forbes .
In addition , many mainstream media magazine publications , such as
-Life https://timedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/lifegratefuldead_cover_...
-Newsweek http://www.dead.net/sites/default/files/gallery/nw_gratefuldeadsmall.jpg
-Rolling Stone http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91tDvQCbpML._SY355_.jpg have released 'Special Commemorative Issues' for the departure of The Grateful Dead's stand in the rock concert tour circuit
As a fan , maybe not at 'Dead Head' level 1 status , I'm aware of this .
The question on my mind , concerning this media blitz is;
Where The Grateful Dead were always about exploiting Peace , and Good Vibes , along with an acute ability to gather an amazingly large crowd for their events , do you think the Corporate Media is exploiting The Grateful Dead's amazing 50 year run in an attempt to shiest us into thinking that they too are great exploiters of Peace and Good Vibrations ?
I was just wondering .)

Why did the Times publish an article about a Novorossia dirty bomb?

News from The Times that Donetsk militia is engaged in the creation of a "dirty bomb" in cooperation with Russian scientists is not good.

I would not hurry to treat it as a typical nonsense, which is constantly written about Donbass.

Of course, it is impossible to seriously discuss this story in the way its portrayed in the West.

But the fact is that when someone wants to commit a crime — he must first create an alibi. Or, in our case, to create the background information that would blame the enemy.

Vaccine industry social influence document reveals attempted bribery of 'key social influencers' such as Disney / Marvel, ESPN, Oprah and a CNN reporter

The document is entitled Roadmap for Action to Reach the Healthy People 2020 Goals for Adult Vaccination. It is dated November, 2013, meaning that almost everything mentioned here has already been implemented as we've seen with the Disneyland measles false flag outbreak, the push for SB 277 in California and the insertion of pro-vaccine propaganda into Netflix programs.

The document openly admits that the vaccine industry pays people to exert social influence calling for increased sales of lucrative vaccines.

Vaccine industry specifically names ESPN, Disney, Oprah Winfrey, Sanjay Gupta and others

The document calls for the vaccine industry to, "Identify influential spokespersons from multiple sectors (e.g., business, sports, music) to reach each identified target population."

The Liberation of US Foreign Policy

Once we defeat the Israeli-directed attempt to derail the Iran deal in Congress we can safely go out into the streets declaiming: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we’re free at last!

The Iran deal is a turning point in US foreign policy, and its approval by Congress will represent a sea change in American politics: it will mark nothing less than a day of liberation which future generations might dub “VI Day” – victory over Israel day.

The signing of the Iran deal, and its probable approval by Congress – it doesn’t look like the War Party has the votes to overturn it – heralds the victory of the countercoup, i.e. the overthrow of the Lobby’s stranglehold and the eventual restoration of a pro-American foreign policy. This was evident in practically every line of President Obama’s recent speech at American University, and the text deserves closer examination than it has so far gotten.

Mohammad Ali’s destiny is not known, but he is on a positive track – and more importantly he is in good and caring hands. May he be testimony and symbol throughout Europe and the rest of the world for Greece’s compassion for refugees and their fate, for Greece’s generosity and thriving sense of solidarity – a sense of kindness that has been gravely devastated in the rest of the western world!

International Courts and the Mystery of the Malaysian Airliner

People are not equal in death, either. Some deaths are more newsworthy than others. The media and politicians love spectacular acts of terror, fires, disaster, the death of the wealthy and privileged, a death conducive to a cause. Such is the death of 300 passengers and crew of the Malaysian airliner flight 17 in the crash in Donbass, near Russian-Ukrainian border. Their deaths, regrettable as they were, are deemed to be of much greater importance, or at least newsworthiness than those of some ten thousand local people killed by the indiscriminate shelling of Donbass towns by Kiev regime troops, or that of a million Arabs. It is conducive to the cause of pushing Russia into a corner.

House Members In Israel for Obama-Bashing

Should Congress prevail in undermining “this strong, principled policy diplomacy”, we would have reached a shameful moment in U.S. foreign policy.

While President Barack Obama was speaking about the people’s business, and his Kennedy-like preference for diplomacy over war, freshman members of the U.S. House of Representatives were either 5,000 plus miles away in Israel, or preparing to go there to be feted and educated by a foreign power which opposes the nuclear agreement the U.S. has reached with Iran and major European powers.

Democratic freshman congress members who may or may not have heard the Obama speech, are traveling in Israel (all expenses paid) courtesy of an educational nonprofit “affiliated with” the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the American Israel Education Foundation, AIPAC’s charitable arm.

What “affiliated with” means is that AIPAC runs the trip while its “education foundation” pays the bills.

Donald Trump terrifies Republican field

Donald Trump didn’t just steal much of the show at a Republican debate Thursday night, he didn’t just command the stage whenever he chose to — he is an experienced TV performer, after all — but he showed his contempt for the very debate that he was taking part in.

And the audience ate it up.

Time and again, Trump said outrageous and sometimes repellent things and didn’t just get away with it, but often turned boos into cheers.

One of the Fox News moderators, Megyn Kelly, said to him: “You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.”

“Only Rosie O’Donnell,” Trump retorted.

There was an explosion. But it was an explosion of laughter.

BEX ALERT - Republican presidential debate: How Donald Trump's performance may stall campaign

He immediately earned the ire of the crowd, and likely many Republican supporters in general, when he would not commit to supporting the party's eventual nominee and would not rule out running as a third-party candidate. Many believe a third-party run would only split the Republican vote and ensure a Democratic victory.

"That, I think, damaged him considerably," said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean. "I think his numbers will slip because of that. It just didn't show loyalty to the Republican party."

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Eventual nominee?" Looks like the GOP has already decided who their candidate will be and wants to make Trump look "disloyal" for not going along with the pre-ordained dynastic ruler!

Following Thursday’s Republican debate in Cleveland, presidential hopeful Donald Trump told reporters that he felt the questions posed to him were “inappropriate” and that Fox News host Megyn Kelly especially “behaved very badly.”

“The questions to me were far tougher, and that I — supposedly, according to what everyone’s telling me, I won the debate, according to the call-ins and everything,” Trump told reporters after the debate, according to BuzzFeed. “But the questions to me were not nice, I didn’t think they were appropriate, and I think Megyn behaved very badly personally.”

No one eclipses Donald Trump at GOP debate

(CNN)It was the most dramatic opening to a presidential debate in recent memory—and Donald Trump stole the show before he'd even said a word.

Perched comfortably at the top of the polls and lapping his closest rivals by double digits, Trump was expected to do well at the first GOP presidential debate of the 2016 season on Thursday night. The onus was on his competitors to seize the spotlight, but none of them managed to change the dynamics in a race that Trump has dominated for more than a month.

Many contenders delivered strong performances and polished answers. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio showed his formidable political skills and compelling personal narrative. Ohio Gov. John Kasich gave crisp answers as he played to his home state audience. And Rand Paul and Chris Christie slammed each other during an impassioned debate over government surveillance.

CHILD MURDERS CONTINUE IN ISRAEL ~~ SILENCE CONTINUES IN WESTERN MEDIA

Not for the first time, Western media have been extremely accommodating to Israeli propagandists. The crocodile tears of Israeli politicians over one child’s death are treated as if they are genuine. Yet European and American journalists have not stopped to ask why the same politicians failed to condemn the killing of other young Palestinians on the same day.

If those journalists did some serious analysis or research, they would realize that the killing of baby Ali was not an aberration. Palestinian children and teenagers are regularly killed by Israelis.

Shocking! Roger Ailes Broke His Own Rules For The Debate

I know you're all as shocked as I am to discover that Roger Ailes massaged which final debate polls to use to decide who the top ten should be. Awhile ago I remarked that there was no way he'd leave Kasich out in the cold. He likes Kasich. Perry, not so much,

And so it came to pass that Perry got sent to the kids' table and Kasich was invited to hang with the adults. But in order for that to happen, it was imperative that Ailes ignore the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll which had Kasich in a virtual tie with Rick Perry and instead use the Quinnipiac poll, an older poll which had Kasich in front of Perry by a couple of percentage points.

Video Games, Predictive Programming, and the 21st Century Skinner Box

By Rusticus

Perhaps the most encouraging development in fostering freedom in our modern era is the rise of effective “counter-propaganda” to the machinations of Globalism, the likes of which have (arguably) not been circulated so widely since the pamphleteers of the 16th and 17th Centuries. The digital era has brought rise to propaganda and psychological warfare’s perfect foil: The alternative media’s adoption of open source intelligence analysis.

Open source investigations abound on virtually every subject of Deep Political significance today; and, as a result, propaganda can be deconstructed by anyone with an Internet connection. Didn’t know that Ben Affleck was a CIA agent whose handler is Chase Brandon? That information is available to you. US Politicians’ Racist Anti-Iranian Remarks Don’t Make Headlines

Imagine a US senator publicly calling the Chinese “evil people.” Imagine a governor saying African leaders are “animals.” Imagine a presidential candidate claiming Latinos are “liars.” In each of these cases, the media would rightfully explode, condemning the politicians for their overt racism.

A notable exception to this, however, exists in the US political system and media establishment: When politicians make ludicrous claims about Iranians, when Republicans deploy orientalist myths about purportedly bloodthirsty Persians in order to sabotage their own government’s attempts at diplomacy, the media largely sit on their hands.

RISK ASSESSMENTS ARE BEING USED TO SENTENCE PEOPLE TO JAIL AND DEATH

States are trying to reduce prison populations with secretive, new psychological assessments to predict which inmates will commit future crimes and who might be safe to release, despite serious problems and high-profile failures.

Five things to know about risk assessment surveys:

THEY COULD BE USED IN A COURT SYSTEM NEAR YOU: Dozens of different surveys are being used across the country. The surveys vary in the kinds of questions asked and how they are used. Largely confined to parole and probation decisions, these surveys are increasingly being used for sentencing.

IT'S A SECRET: The survey results — and in some cases the actual survey questions — are clouded in secrecy. Some states never release the evaluations, shielding government officials from being held accountable for decisions that affect public safety.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A head of the board of Governors from the US penal system needs, immediately, to call the head of the board of Swedish penal systems, because Sweden has been able to close down many of their prisons, due to not having enough inmates to fill them, and have kept their rate of recidivism very low.

And why?!?

(This is something the American penal system just doesn't collectively do)

The total focus of incarceration is rehabilitation in Sweden. In the US, by the time felons have "done their time", they are apt to be more psychologically more messed up than when they went in.

Fox announces lineup for GOP debate -- with Trump at center stage

Fox News has announced the lineup for the first Republican presidential debate, one that will probably be dominated by the figure standing at center stage, Donald Trump, whose attention-grabbing skills have allowed him to leap to the front of a crowded GOP field over the last six weeks.

Flanking Trump in the 10-candidate debate lineup will be Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida and onetime GOP front-runner, and Scott Walker, the governor of Wisconsin.

Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Govs. Chris Christie of New Jersey and John Kasich of Ohio and Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, will round out the field.

Slouching Toward Bedlam: Choosing The Fox Debate Candidates

Today will mark the end of seven campaigns for the Republican nomination. Roger Ailes and his number-crunchers are huddled in a room somewhere deciding which candidates will be featured in Thursday's opening Republican debate and which will be sent to the 'kids' table' airing at 5 pm.

Here Are the Polls Fox News Will Use to Select the Candidates for the First GOP Debate

Tomorrow around 5 p.m., Fox News executives are scheduled to gather in Roger Ailes's second-floor conference room at the network's midtown headquarters to decide the lineup of candidates who will participate in the first Republican debate on Thursday in Cleveland. Fox’s decision to limit the prime-time field to ten candidates has become a flash point in the GOP. Perhaps the biggest point of contention: The network’s refusal to tell campaigns which polls it will be using to select the participants for the 9 p.m. debate moderated by Megyn Kelly, Bret Baier, and Chris Wallace (the remaining seven candidates will face off in a 5 p.m. debate that’s being viewed as something of a JV contest). How Fox will choose the field has been an intense topic of speculation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

FOX News just now ran a story in which they polled GOP voters as to who they would NEVER vote for, in which they claim Trump comes in with 33%. This is a pathetic and obvious attempt to come up with some numbers justifying sidelining Trump if not ejecting him outright.

THE INFORMATION WAR IN MEXICO: JOURNALISTS MURDERED, CITIZENS MONITORED

On July 31, 2015, assassins broke into an apartment in Mexico City and executed five people: photojournalist Ruben Espinosa, 31, community organizer and human rights activist Nadia Vera, 32, student Yesenia Quiróz, 18, and two unnamed women. Their bodies showed signs of torture. Espinosa and Vera had fled to Mexico City from the state of Veracruz, 200 miles east the capital, on the Gulf of Mexico. According to the Committee to Project Journalists (CPJ), Veracruz is not only one of the most dangerous states in Mexico for journalists, but one of the most dangerous regions in the world.

Political Theater: Company with crowds for hire sees opportunity in politics

As the race for the White House heats up with the first Republican debateset for Thursday, there appears to be a growing number of supporters showing up at campaign speeches and appearances. The increasing pressure to gain an edge has some candidates paying actors to be faces in the crowd, CBS News' Carter Evans reports. When Donald Trump entered the presidential race, spurred on by an energetic crowd, apparently not all were true believers. According to an email obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, actors were offered $50 to wear T-shirts, carry signs and cheer.

Corbyn: the antidote to the Blairite ‘virus’ and Zionist snake-bite

Towards a more sensible foreign policy…

Many certainly can see Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister - a very different and totally new style of PM. He's astute and has a track record of honesty and openness, laced with a burning sense of justice.

Some polls are showing Jeremy Corbyn forging ahead in the Labour Party leadership race by as much as 20 points. The political Establishment is shaken and quite definitely stirred.

Power in the service of Power

Samantha Power has become something of an expert at Russia-bashing and using fiery rhetoric for her selective political aims at the UN Security Council.

The US, as with other NATO states, has set itself up as jury and judge on the MH17 tragedy, and has already decided on Russia’s guilt over the incident. From the outset, Western governments and media have insinuated that Russia or “Russian-backed rebels” in eastern Ukraine are the perpetrators. The case has already been poisoned with politicized prejudice, without any evidence. As Christopher Black, a respected international war crimes lawyer, has pointed out to this author, the tribunal proposed by the NATO countries would have been used as “a trap” to incriminate Russia and possibly even indict President Vladimir Putin for having ultimate responsibility.

The Imperial Designs on Iran

The Masters of the Universe seem to believe that the “pivot to Asia” won’t work if Iran is not part, as a vassal state, of the imperial design for Southwest Asia. Well, listen to Khamenei; that won’t happen.

So what is the Obama administration really up to in Iran? What sort of strategic calculations have led to what for the moment looks like a tactical geopolitical shift?

President Obama certainly concluded that the 36-year-long Wall of Mistrust against Iran was bound to fail. The real Masters of the Universe in Washington – those who control the deep state – always knew that the “nuclear weapons” hysteria was bogus. That was part of a strategic decision to keep the Islamic Republic isolated from the West as long as possible, and ultimately force regime change.

The Hunt for Red October

As a Social Democrat government came to power in September 2014, the Swedish Army, Navy and pro-NATO media plotted to prevent a possible rapprochement of Russia and Sweden.

These days, Sweden is all agog. In the midst of the coldest summer in living history that deprived the Swedes of their normal sun-accumulating July routine, the country plunged into an exciting search for a Russian submarine in the Stockholm archipelago, and (as opposed to the previous rounds of this venerable Swedish maritime saga) this time they actually found the beast.

On the Dangerous Aspects of Noise – An Analysis by Lawrence Davidson

Washington’s Fifth Columns Inside Russia and China

Russia and China finally caught on. It is amazing that the governments of the two countries that Washington regards as "threats" were so tolerant of foreign-financed NGOs for so long.

Americans need to understand that the biggest threat to them resides entirely in the crazed neoconservative ideology of Washington’s hegemony over the world and over the American people, Paul Craig Roberts believes.

It took two decades for Russia and China to understand that “pro-democracy” and “human rights” organizations operating within their countries were subversive organizations funded by the US Department of State and a collection of private American foundations organized by Washington. The real purpose of these non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is to advance Washington’s hegemony by destabilizing the two countries capable of resisting US hegemony.

If any of his opponents lands the leadership Labour will remain under the yoke of Zionist ambitions and enslave by the gangster regime in Tel Aviv. Total Poll Fail Ukraine: Putin Leading By 84%

A new information tragedy in Ukraine. It started so innocently: the nationally conscious patriotic website Nedelya.ua organized a survey. The question was: which politician would you entrust with governing your country?
41664 votes were cast. The results were a knock-out blow for the organizers--a full and crushing victory for Vladimir Putin. Treason!

J.Hawk's Comment: I'd add that even it was "bots and trolls" voting for Putin, where is the pro-Poroshenko/Yatsenyuk/Lyashko/Timoshenko enthusiasm? Right? That, in my view, is what speaks in favor of its authenticity, the fact that none (NONE, KARL!) of Ukraine's leaders elicit respect, admiration, emulation, gratitude, love, or even mere tolerance. No, they are all hated or, worse, despised. Putin, on the other hand, commands respect, grudging or otherwise, even in the US.

The purpose of this two-pronged propaganda blitz is to defeat the recently signed US-Iranian agreement and start another major Middle East war.

Editor of Prestigious Medical Journal Says “Science has Taken a Turn into Darkness”

And there we have it. The editor of a prestigious medical journal that has published peer-reviewed data since 1823 has openly admitted that the corrupt have indeed infiltrated the science community and its media outlets. Surely, this isn’t news to many, yet millions of readers have been and will continue to be deceived by the label of “peer-reviewed” in spite of this blatant confession.

What one can find almost laughable is that this isn’t the first time an editor of a prestigious medical journal has come forward and declared the science community and its publications to be manipulated and corrupt. In 2009, Dr. Marcia Angell of the New England Journal of Medicine wrote:

Wasserman-What? Broward congresswoman, ex-county commissioner in Wikipedia mixup

News flash: Wikipedia isn't always correct.

The online encyclopedia's penchant for posting inaccuracies isn't helping U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, whose parents are listed on Wikipedia as being two fallen public figures in Broward.

"She is the daughter of former Broward Commissioner Diana Wasserman-Rubin, and her stepfather is Richard Rubin," the entry about the congresswoman reads.

Wasserman-Rubin resigned from the Broward County Commission in 2010 and is facing trial on public corruption related charges, and Rubin, a former grants writer for Southwest Ranches, is serving a 10- month federal prison sentence for tax evasion.

Wasserman Schultz has a national profile as head of the Democratic National Committee, so conservative bloggers took the faux familial tie and ran with it.

Some of the headlines:

"DNC Chair's parents off to jail for corruption''

Webmaster's Commentary:

Someone sent me the link to this story over at Pamela Geller's site. Knowing what I know of Pamela I decided to do some basic fact checking and sure enough, the claim that Debbie Wasserman Schultz's parents have been jailed for corruption is junk, the result of an error in familial relations in the Wikipedia article.

Greece – And the Horror of Europe

Dear Reader, this is as far as we have fallen since the ascent of neoliberalism in the last twenty-some years. No ethics, no moral, no law, just coercion for greed and ultimate hegemony – enslavement of the people while and after they are lulled and dulled with lies 24/7.

According to UNHCR about 50 million refugees are on the move every day on our globe. This is most likely an understatement, as this figure doesn’t take into account what takes place in the almost hermetically closed-off Central Africa, Congo, Zaïre, where western corporations are exploiting for a pittance and with millions of slaves precious metals, uranium, hydrocarbons and rare earths – and where millions have died over the past ten years, by butcher regimes supported and armed by the west – and where millions are on the run.

The real figure of refugees on the run is easily 60 to 65 million;

Iran Political Fulmination Versus Diplomatic Deal

Viewers and readers should question polls, whether reported by CNN or Fox or MSNBC with the same vigor the old Chicago News Bureau once counseled, “If your mother says she loves you, check it out”.

Blessings upon New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof for pointing out that “fulmination” is the right word to describe opposition to the diplomatic deal President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have just reached with Iran and the P5+1 major world powers.

The P5+1 offers a strong array of international powers. The term P5+1 refers to the UN Security Council’s five permanent members (the P5); namely China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States; plus Germany.

The PPP poll finds that “there’s strong support nationally for the Iran deal, that voters want their members of Congress to let it move forward, and that there’s no potential political backlash for members who do support the deal”.

Incongruities in the News — Paul Craig Roberts

Jonathan Pollard, a paid spy for Israel described by Michael D. Shear as “one of the country’s most notorious spies,” has been pardoned from his life sentence.

Pollard is a hero to Israel, not to America, and it is Pollard who is released. Manning, Snowden, and Assange are heroes to America, and they continue to be confined.

What disturbs me about the case is that it is Pollard, who spied for a foreign country, who is released. In contrast, Manning and Snowden who spied for the American people are locked away, Manning in a federal prison and Snowden in his Russian exile. Julian Assange, who merely did his job as a journalist and made available to newspapers documents leaked to him, is confined to the Ecuadoran embassy in London.

Media blackout system to be relaunched

A media blackout system to stop lives being put at risk has been relaunched amid a growing focus on counter-terrorism and intelligence.

The long-standing DA-notice process that warns newspapers and broadcasters not to publish material which could jeopardise national security has become the Defence and Security Media Advisory (DSMA) system.

It comes after an increase in the number of cases relating to sensitive information about national intelligence rather than defence. Around 40% of the issues dealt with over the last 18 months were about security.

The changes follow a review of the process, most widely known as the D-notice system, by academics and leading industry figures.

BEX ALERT - What turns someone into a conspiracy theorist? Study to look at why some are more 'receptive' to such theories

He believes that some people are more vulnerable to “intellectual vices” such as dogmatism, gullibility and close mindedness and this in turn makes them more likely to listen to extreme "alternative" sources of information.

He told The Independent: “The other explanation is that that these people are literally mad or mentally ill but I don’t really go for that theory.

Fabrication in BBC Panorama “Saving Syria’s Children”: Substitution of “Napalm Bomb” Footage

The below admission from the BBC that its substitution of Syria footage between two 2014 broadcasts breaches its own Editorial Guidelines on accuracy is a modest victory in the battle to attract scrutiny to the wider charges that one of the reports in question (at least) was largely, if not entirely, fabricated.

Happy Birthday may finally be free after bombshell discovery

he world’s most popular song dates from 1893 but a studio has been forcing people to pay for it all the same. Now, last minute evidence in a closely-watched court case could make “Happy Birthday” free at last, and end one of the most controversial copyright claims in history.

The evidence comes in the form of a book of music from 1927 titled “The Everyday Songbook,” which was put before a federal judge in California this week. There, in its pages, is a copy of the words and melody of “Happy Birthday,” whose appearance should serve to put the famous song in the public domain once and for all – and end a licensing gig that reportedly nets publisher Warner/Chappell’s $2 million per year.

Jon Stewart Obama Secret Meetings Ethics Debate: TV Host Was 'Useful Prod' For White House

News of the private meetings surfaced Tuesday as Stewart prepares to end his tenure as host on Aug. 6.
