Syrian Kurdish Forces Launch Powerful Counterattack Against Turkey

Turkey is hoping for a quick victory in Afrin, but its soldiers and allied Syrian militiamen are facing counter-attacks by Kurdish forces on villages close to the border. The Kurds are reported to be readying reinforcements to join the battle from their bases in north east Syria where they have thousands of troops who until recently were fighting Isis.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan says there would be “no stepping back from Afrin” which means that the campaign, bizarrely named ‘Operation Olive Branch’, will continue. But it will take time to drive the Kurdish YPG paramilitary forces out the Afrin enclave north of Aleppo. So far the Turkish offensive has captured only a few villages close to the border in three days of fighting and there are a total of 350 villages in Afrin.

The population of the enclave is estimated to be 200,000, many of whom will be come refugees if Turkey and Arab militiamen take control.

US Struggles With Fighting Between Turkey, Syrian Kurds, Two Key Allies

US warnings and calls for restraint have failed, and Turkey has invaded Syria’s Afrin District, beginning what could be a protracted battle with the US-backed Kurdish YPG. Two major US allies are in open conflict.

US allies have often clashed in the course of the Syrian War, but this is shaping up to be a long military campaign by Turkey, which has been looking to push against the Kurds for quite some time.

The US is so far just calling for “restraint,” but their involvement in the fight could come quite quickly, as Turkish officials have repeatedly said after Afrin, they’ll be attacking the YPG-held city of Manbij, a city that has US troops embedded within.

The US initially sent troops to Manbij to try to deter a Turkish invasion, betting they wouldn’t want to risk causing casualties to a fellow NATO member. That the fight is already ongoing now may change that calculation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get this straight; the US military has troops embedded with the YGB in Mandij, the city in Syria Turkey has announced it will attack next.

Is the White House planning to create an exit corridor through which the American troops be able to leave, and quickly, or are they "sacrificial lambs" with which to justify a full-on invasion of Syria and/or Turkey?!?

This is about to get ugly, quickly.

Sessions: ‘No Stone Unturned’ To Find FBI Agents’ Missing Text Messages

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Monday that the Justice Department “will leave no stone unturned” in trying to figure out how the FBI lost five months of text messages exchanged between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, the FBI agents who exchanged anti-Trump messages while working on the Clinton and Trump investigations.

“We will leave no stone unturned to confirm with certainty why these text messages are not now available to be produced and will use every technology available to determine whether the missing messages are recoverable from another source,” Sessions said in a statement.

“Shadowy” FBI Official Protected Obama After Unsecured Email Exchange With Hillary

Additional text messages sent and received by disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok were recently handed over to Congress, reports the AP.

Buried in the report are text messages between Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page discussing how hackers likely obtained an email exchange between then-President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. The exchange was later covered-up by the FBI after the incident was removed from Comey’s closing statement on Clinton’s email investigation.

Destroying, Suppressing Evidence Is FBI Standard Procedure

The FBI-issued cell phone of Peter Strzok, whose previous texts to his mistress (also an FBI employee) showed fierce hostility to Trump, suddenly had problems due to “software upgrades” and other issues — and voila — all the messages between the two from Dec. 14, 2016, to May 17, 2017 vanished. Strzok, who oversaw the Trump investigation from its start in July 2016, was removed from Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation last summer after the Justice Department Inspector General discovered his anti-Trump texts.

Stephen Boyd, the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs, notified a Senate committee that “data that should have been automatically collected and retained for long-term storage and retrieval was not collected.” The missing texts could have obliterated the remnants of credibility of the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign.

House Republicans clash over secret memo

House Republicans are sharply divided over how to handle a classified memo that President Donald Trump’s allies say contains explosive details of misconduct by senior FBI and Justice Department officials.

The memo, compiled by House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes and fellow Republicans on the panel, claims that senior federal officials abused a secret surveillance program, commonly known as FISA, to target the Trump campaign. It also alleges other federal law enforcement wrongdoing that some Republicans insist should lead to the firings of senior officials.

But while several Republicans have publicly cited the document as cause for alarm—triggering an aggressive Twitter campaign that has featured dozens of supportive tweets by the president's son, Donald Trump Jr.—they have not detailed its specific allegations.

How ex-congresswoman helped squelch reports of secret government surveillance

When two New York Times reporters learned in 2004 that the George W. Bush administration was secretly wiretapping Americans, and collecting their phone and email records, the reporters’ attempt to publish their findings were thwarted by the administration’s intense and successful lobbying of their editors.

“There are times when classified materials must be protected,” she told The Chronicle.

Details of the far-reaching, legally unauthorized surveillance program remained secret until the Times published the article in late 2005, more than a year after Bush was narrowly elected to a second term.

FBI caught out lying about 'lost' texts

Knowledge of the missing texts was revealed in a Saturday letter from Ron Johnson (R-WI), Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) – after the Committee received an additional 384 pages of text messages between Strzok and Page, several of which contained anti-Trump / pro-Clinton bias. The new DOJ submission included a cover letter from the Assistant AG for Legislative Affairs, Stephen Boyd, claiming that the FBI was unable to preserve text messages between the two agents for a five month period between December 14, 2016 and May 17, 2017 – due to “misconfiguration issues” with FBI-issued Samsung 5 devices used by Strzok and Page (despite over 10,000 texts which were recovered from their devices without incident).

DAVOS, Switzerland — It may be tempting fate to try to gather 60 heads of state and hundreds of global business leaders in the dead of winter in a Swiss mountain valley. This year, the World Economic Forum’s luck seems to have run out.

Fat, damp snowflakes have been tumbling down for the past six days, burying the town in six feet of snow, three feet of it in the last two days alone. Snow was still falling fast on Monday night, and the steep, pine-dotted slopes were so heavily laden that some neighborhoods here in Davos had to be evacuated for fear of avalanches.

'Convenient accident': Twitter reacts after FBI 'lost texts' between Russia investigation staffers

Reactions are rolling in after the FBI reportedly lost five months of text messages between staffers who worked on probes into Hillary Clinton's emails and alleged collusion between Russia and Donald Trump's campaign.
News of the reportedly 'lost emails' broke after Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, Chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, wrote in a January 20 letter that the FBI's technical system had failed to preserve texts sent between two staffers. The texts were exchanged by lawyer-agent Peter Stroz and lawyer Lisa Page, his mistress, in the period December 14, 2016 to May 17, 2017.

Previous exchanges between Stroz and Page, originally obtained by Fox News, referred to Trump as an "idiot" and "loathsome human."

RIP: Weather Channel founder John Coleman dies – Called ‘global warming’ a ‘hoax’

RIP John!

John Coleman, the dancing, prancing San Diego weatherman who tickled television viewers by the way he would sing out the letter U in KUSI-TV’s call letters, died on Saturday. He was 83. Coleman, who also angered many people by insisting that global warming is a hoax, died at his home in Las Vegas, according to KUSI, where he served as a forecaster from 1994 to 2014, when he retired. The station did not announce the cause of death, but it did say that Coleman was surrounded by family when he passed away. His 2014 retirement capped a 60-year career during which served Coleman as the first forecaster on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” then went on to found the Weather Channel during the early days of cable television.

Lost FBI Texts Could Form Basis for Motion to Dismiss in Trump Team Fight Against Russia Probe

The latest news that five months’ worth of text messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok and DOJ attorney Lisa Page is sure to make supporters of President Donald Trump continue to claim that the Russia investigation is a politically-motivated scheme. More importantly, however, Trump’s lawyers will now be able to do the same.

Strzok has already been outed as anti-Trump, leading to his dismissal from the probe, and his past communications with Page showed a potential Justice Department bias towards Hillary Clinton. The fact that now nearly half a year’s worth of text messages between Strzok and Page during the time leading up to Robert Mueller‘s appointment as Special Counsel weren’t preserved by the Justice Department will surely fuel motions from Team Trump’s lawyers against the investigation.

Turkey ‘will not take a step back’ in Afrin operation: Erdo?an

Turkey will “not take a step back” from its operation into Afrin and has an agreement with Russia regarding its military offensive against the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the northwestern Syrian city, President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an said on Jan. 22.

He was speaking on the third day of “Operation Olive Branch,” during which one civilian in the southern province of Hatay was killed as a result of rocket fire from YPG militants across the border in Afrin.

“The Afrin issue will be resolved. There will be no step back. We have discussed it with the Russians and we have an agreement with them,” Erdo?an told businesspeople gathered for an award ceremony in the capital Ankara.

He reiterated that Turkey’s offensive into Afrin will only be over once objectives are accomplished in the field, “just like the Euphrates Shield Operation” in mid-2016.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Note that Edrogan states that " We have discussed it with the Russians and we have an agreement with them.”

Very few US news outlets, even blogs, are discussing this, and there is no mention on the corpratized US presstitute media, and I will go into the reasons for this a little later in this article.

I am going to be linking to several articles which appear today at http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com, a Turkish daily blog in English which has a number of news/op-ed pieces which, I believe, all thinking Americans should be reading.

Turkey, Russia, and Iran agree on 1600 Attendees list for Sochi Meeting

This meeting is will be dedicated to creating a peaceful, stable situation in Syria, where the voices of minorities can get heard.

Turkey was infuriated by unilateral US actions in Syria-Lavrov

This article goes on to state that:

"Unilateral U.S. actions in Syria infuriated Turkey, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said, adding that Washington’s bid to cooperate with the People’s Protection Units (YPG), which Ankara sees as a terrorist group, is a misunderstanding if not a provocation.

“Either it is a misunderstanding of the whole situation, or a deliberate provocation,” Anadolu Agency quoted Lavrov as saying at a press conference in Moscow on Jan. 22.

“We have already drawn attention to the fact that the U.S. have embarked on the creation of alternative authorities in large parts of Syrian territory,” Lavrov said.

“In Syria, Washington supplies arms both openly and discreetly to groups that cooperate with them, especially the SDF,” he said referring to the Syrian Democratic Forces, which is largely dominated by the YPG.

“The U.S. has announced the creation of certain ‘border forces’ in Syria. Clumsy denials followed. But the fact is they are still trying to control the border,” Lavrov said.

The reason yhou have barely heard a thing from the corporatized presstitutes on this issue, is that the on-going Turkish invasion of Syria represents a staggering "epic fail" of American foreign policy in the Middle East, but right now, without declaring (or NOT declaring a war, but acting covertly) against Syria; Turkey; or Russia, the US government is thoroughly impotent of doing anything about it, other than issue "milk toast", boiler-plate stements calling for "restraint"

THAT is why you are seeing, ad nauseum, images of a thouroghy disfunctional Congress, trying to figure out how to get back to working (allegedly) for We the People!

I even doubt that the adroitly skilled and nuanced Sarah Saunders, White House Press Secretary, will be able to put a positive spin on this Turkish invasion of Syria. No matter how she tries to slice and dice it, the neon red, flashing optics are officially horrible, with regard to US foreign policy.

"BRAZEN PLOT TO EXONERATE HILLARY CLINTON" AND FRAME TRUMP UNRAVELING, SAYS FORMER FED PROSECUTOR

A former Federal Prosecutor sat down with The Daily Caller to give perhaps the most comprehensive rundown of the Obama Administration's "brazen plot to exonerate Hillary Clinton" and "frame an incoming president with a false Russian conspiracy."

In this highly recommended 30 minute interview with Joe diGenova, the former Special Counsel who went after both the Teamsters and former NY Governor Elliot Spitzer, paints a very clear picture of collusion is painted between the Obama administration, the FBI, the Clinton campaign and opposition research firm Fusion GPS.

What this is about, this is about a lavabo, a cleansing of FBI and the upper echelons of the Department of Justice.

WATCH: COP ATTACKS HANDCUFFED SCHOOL GIRL, VIOLENTLY SLAMS HER INTO THE CONCRETE

A school resource officer is under fire after a video was released online that showed him slamming a female student to the ground and then handcuffing her, while two other men stood nearby and did nothing to intervene.

After the video went viral, the La Mesa Police Department responded in a statement, claiming that the 17-year-old girl was “arrested by a La Mesa Police School Resource Officer for refusing to obey a lawful order to leave school grounds and resisting arrest.”

The department claimed that the video released online showed a small segment of an encounter in which “Helix High School staff requested the assistance of the School Resource Officer to remove a student, who was on suspended status and non-compliant with staff directions to leave the campus.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Welcome to "education" in public schools in Amerika, where the State's Representative can slam a kid's head into the floor with absolutely no real provocaton or cause whatsoever, and there will be absolutely no repercussions for that "Resource Officer".

Were I a parent at Helix High, I would pull my kid out of that school so quickly that the principal's head spin.

Before I did this, however, I would be researching the nearest "magnet schools", private schools, and home schooling groups where my kid would at least be educated, and where teachers and principals, working to gether with families, want to keep parents in the loop consistently.

And if all parents here did this, the school would no longer receive the Federal or California State grants which fund it, and the school, ultimately, would have to shut down.

Parents have more power than they realize; but they need to be ready to "come up to the plate" and use it wisely and morally, in defense of their kids.

MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX ENSURES AMERICANS WAR WILL GO ON DESPITE GOV’T SHUTDOWN

The United States government’s mission of spreading empire, destabilizing peaceful countries, and violent regime changes will not be hindered by the government shutdown. Our fearless rulers have ensured Americans that the military-industrial complex will be just fine—despite not paying the soldiers.

On Saturday, Vice President Mike Pence encouraged troops to focus on their missions and ensured them that they will be just fine even though their paychecks won’t come in next week.

Although military personnel remain deployed and on the job, they won’t be paid unless Congress votes to compensate them.

“We’ll get this thing figured out in Washington,” Pence said early Saturday as he greeted US servicemen in Ireland shortly after the government shutdown. “Stay focused on your mission,” he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to remind both sides of the aisle that without paychecks, our military and their families will not be able to put food on the table, or pay their mortgages or rents.

Desperate, they may well become targets of "payday loan" sharks, which dole out relatively small amounts of money for staggeringly usurious interest rates.

As much as I abhor war as what appears to be, in the minds of those in the bowels of power, the only only way in which the US government can resolve their geopolitical differences with other countries, not paying our military stinks to high heaven.

THANKS TO "CONSENT" BURIED DEEP IN SALES AGREEMENTS, CAR MANUFACTURERS ARE TRACKING TENS OF MILLIONS OF US CARS

Millions of new cars sold in the US and Europe are "connected," having some mechanism for exchanging data with their manufacturers after the cars are sold; these cars stream or batch-upload location data and other telemetry to their manufacturers, who argue that they are allowed to do virtually anything they want with this data, thanks to the "explicit consent" of the car owners -- who signed a lengthy contract at purchase time that contained a vague and misleading clause deep in its fine-print.

Car manufacturers are mostly warehousing this data (leaving it vulnerable to leaks and breaches, search-warrants, government hacking and unethical employee snooping), and can't articulate why they're saving it or how they use it.

NY Times: Kushner received “$30M From Israeli Firm”

Russiagate smells like a rotten corpse

Jared Kushner has been strengthening Israelgate. According to the New York Times itself, he received at least $30 million “from Menora Mivtachim—one of Israel’s largest financial institutions—just before he accompanied Trump on his first diplomatic trip to Israel last year.”[1] The New York Times admitted:

The deal, which was not made public, pumped significant new equity into 10 Maryland apartment complexes controlled by Mr. Kushner’s firm. While Mr. Kushner has sold parts of his business since taking a White House job last year, he still has stakes in most of the family empire—including the apartment buildings in and around Baltimore.”[2]

Journalist Glen Greenwald knocks Kushner out by saying that he is “the worst and most oppressive kind of slum lord. Are you comfortable with having Jared Kushner be the beneficiary of huge amounts of Israeli financing at the same time he’s overseeing U.S. foreign policy on Israel?”[3]

No, I don’t. The interesting thing is that the New York Times and the entire Zionist outlet cannot draw the logical deduction that this covert enterprise by Kushner is an indication of what one ought to call Israelgate.>>>>

Fake feminist group Zioness used rapper’s image without her approval

A South African artist is rejecting any ties to a Zionist women’s group that is using her image in its propaganda.

Dope Saint Jude, a Cape Town hip hop artist and producer confirmed that her image had been used by Zioness in posters and graphics promoting the pro-Israel group’s presence at the Women’s March in cities across the US last weekend.

One image, in a style reminiscent of Shepard Fairey’s famous poster of Barack Obama, shows Dope Saint Jude standing with arms crossed above the slogan “Zionists 4 Women’s Rights #TheResistance.”

Another includes the slogan “Zionesses stand with women in Iran.”

The Zioness movement appears to be an astroturfing effort to portray support for Israel as feminist, in line with the propaganda strategy adopted by Israel and its lobby groups to try to co-opt progressive support.

Terrorist Plots, Hatched by the F.B.I.

THE United States has been narrowly saved from lethal terrorist plots in recent years — or so it has seemed. A would-be suicide bomber was intercepted on his way to the Capitol; a scheme to bomb synagogues and shoot Stinger missiles at military aircraft was developed by men in Newburgh, N.Y.; and a fanciful idea to fly explosive-laden model planes into the Pentagon and the Capitol was hatched in Massachusetts.

But all these dramas were facilitated by the F.B.I., whose undercover agents and informers posed as terrorists offering a dummy missile, fake C-4 explosives, a disarmed suicide vest and rudimentary training. Suspects naïvely played their parts until they were arrested.

NSA deleted surveillance data it pledged to preserve

The National Security Agency destroyed surveillance data it pledged to preserve in connection with pending lawsuits and apparently never took some of the steps it told a federal court it had taken to make sure the information wasn’t destroyed, according to recent court filings.

Word of the NSA’s foul-up is emerging just as Congress has extended for six years the legal authority the agency uses for much of its surveillance work conducted through U.S. internet providers and tech firms. President Donald Trump signed that measure into law Friday.

Since 2007, the NSA has been under court orders to preserve data about certain of its surveillance efforts that came under legal attack following disclosures that President George W. Bush ordered warrantless wiretapping of international communications after the 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S. In addition, the agency has made a series of representations in court over the years about how it is complying with its duties.
