Nature Takes on Tech As Lightning Strikes Google FOUR TIMES Erasing Cloud Data

In an iconic moment of the data-driven society, a Google data-center in Belgium was struck not once, but four times by lightning during a storm.

The old adages apparently don't apply in this modern age, as a power outage temporarily took down the computing facility after the repeated strikes of lightning hit its power grid.

The string of incidents resulted in a loss of a relatively small amount of cloud computing information, that nonetheless underscore the vulnerability of customer data. The London Telegraph reports:

Repeated lightning strikes have caused a Google data centre in Belgium to lose a small amount of data after the company was unable to restore some information.

Four successive strikes on the electricity grid that powers facilities in Saint-Ghislain, near Mons, affected 5 per cent of persistent, or non-virtual disks in the zone that powers Google Compute Engine, its cloud computing platform.

Two Major US Aquifers Found to Be Saturated with Uranium

They found that the parts of the High Plains Aquifer (also often referred to as the Ogallala) is saturated with uranium at a level that is 89 times higher than the EPA's safe limit. The southern half of California's Central Valley was even worse, with a uranium concentration that is 180 times higher than the EPA's "maximum contaminant level." Altogether, almost 2 million people live above the most contaminated sections of these aquifers. The research suggest that the Uranium contamination is being caused by agricultural activities. The nitrates in fertilizers and animal waste can cause the oxidation of naturally occurring uranium, which makes it more water-soluble.

NOT Satire: Presidential Candidate "Deez Nuts" Polls Better than Traditional GOP Hopefuls

When people say that these nuts are climbing in the campaign polls, they’re usually referring to candidates making outlandish statements ? not an internet meme. But independent politician Deez Nuts is outperforming several other presidential contenders.

Deez Nuts is polling at 9 percent in North Carolina ? tied with Republican hopeful Marco Rubio, and outperforming GOP candidates Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee and Scott Walker, who garnered 6 percent each, a Public Policy Polling survey released Wednesday found.

Jared Fogle, ex-Subway pitchman, paid kids for sex on New York trips, prosecutor says

Longtime Subway pitchman Jared Fogle capitalized on his business trips to New York City to arrange sexual encounters with minors in luxury hotels, federal prosecutors said in charging the Indiana man in a case that also documented his acceptance of child pornography from a close associate.

Fogle agreed Wednesday to plead guilty to allegations that he paid for sex with girls as young as 16 and received child pornography. The case already has destroyed his career with the sandwich-shop chain and could send him to prison for more than a decade.

The Deceptions of Hillary Clinton

selective enforcement snip : Consider this. In the past month, the Department of Justice indicted a young sailor who took a selfie in front of a sonar screen on a nuclear submarine and emailed the selfie to his girlfriend. It also indicted a Marine who sent an urgent warning to his superiors on his Gmail account about a dangerous Afghani spy who eventually killed three fellow Marines inside an American encampment. The emailing Marine was indicted for failure to secure classified materials. Gen. David Petraeus stored top-secret materials in an unlocked desk drawer in the study of his secured and guarded Virginia home and was indicted for the same crimes. And a former CIA agent was just sentenced to three years in prison for destroying one top-secret email.

Why Obama is torpedoing Hillary Clinton

The president craves a successor who will preserve his legacy

Webmaster's Commentary:

Obama is not torpedoing Hillary. He has the FBI working to cover up the story of the emails and the link to Benghazi (which is what started the whole email issue) the way the FBI provably covered up the murder of White House Deputy Council Vincent Foster.

Hillary sent weapons to the US' declared enemies Al Qaeda and ISIS in Syria during the declared war on terror. That is treason. I don;t think Hillary took that step on her own, and Obama knows that if Hillary goes down, so does he!

Court says Clinton emails broke ‘government policy’

A federal judge said Thursday that former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s unique email arrangement broke “government policy” and prodded the department to talk to the FBI about getting a look at the computer server and flash drives used to store her emails.

Judge Emmet G. Sullivan was surprised the State Department hadn’t even made that request, and poked at the administration’s claim that the FBI needed to be left alone to conduct its investigation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The FBI is being left alone to cover up the email scandal, just like it covered up the murder of White House Deputy Council Vincent Foster!

U.K. Police Stripped Of Stop and Search Powers For Persistent Abuse

United Kingdom — The Northamptonshire police force has announced it will strip officers of the right to stop and search individuals if officers are deemed to have abused the law enforcement tactic. Police officers will be given “three strikes” on stop and search “errors” before their powers are withdrawn, according to the Northampton Chronicle. The panel has already stripped the power from three special constables, two regular constables, and three sergeants since last October. Six of the nine have since had their powers reinstated after further training.

Federal Judge Orders DEA to Release Information about Illegal Mass Surveillance

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has been ordered by a federal judge to provide information on its secretive mass surveillance program to a human rights group. Human Rights Watch (HRW), with legal help from the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), sued the DEA and other federal agencies to stop the collecting of data on international phone calls made by Americans to overseas parties—a form of unauthorized surveillance that the DEA quietly performed for two decades, according to EFF.

"This Country Is Destroyed": 26 countries, 35 days in Europe During the Economic Collapse of 2015

Many discerning people are expecting an economic collapse at any moment, yet it's still possible to travel without spending a lot of money. My wife and I took off July 10th & went to Europe for 35 days. We hit 26 countries, at a pretty fast pace. We bought the EuroRail pass & travelled throughout Europe by train. From Copenhagen to Istanbul, Norway to Bosnia, this was quite a trip. We met all sorts of interesting people including several in Athens, Greece, who told me "this country is destroyed."

Notes on Police Violence in America: St. Louis Police Kill 18-year-old, Send SWAT Teams against Demonstrators

The rapid police suppression of this minor protest in St. Louis reveals the advanced state of decay of democratic rights in the United States. When a crowd gathers to express anger and protest, the response of the state is increasingly to send in heavily armed, militarized police to intimidate protesters and quell social opposition.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As a Christian pacifist who abhors violence, I am watching in great alarm as minor protests get escalated, generally by police violence. As long as a protest remains peaceful, the police do not, Constitutionally, have a legal right to intervene.

It is painfully clear that the underlying problems of poverty, drugs, and crime, have not been dealt with by city and country officials in St. Louis at all, one year after the shooting of Kajieme Powell.

I would like to hope that the leadership of all faith communities, churches, synagogues, and mosques in St. Louis come together to create some meaningful dialogue with police, and develop a better sense of trust.

I would also like to encourage the leadership of all faith communities to come together to create a public/private partnership for education in jobs which cannot be outsourced to the cheapest international pools of labor (as has most manufacturing).

These alarming new passport laws are being snuck through Congress right now

Just the other day we wrote about a U.S. House “suspension” bill that would give the Secretary of State the authority to cancel your passport if he decided that you had “aided” an organization that he rules is terrorist.

There is no definition of what “aided” means, no chance to dispute the Secretary’s decision, no trial or presentation of evidence, and in fact any evidence the government has can be classified as secret so that you may not see it. In effect the Secretary of State can unilaterally consign you to internal exile and there is nothing you can do about it.

Because Members of the U.S. House were too cowardly to go on record voting for such an anti-American piece of legislation, the bill passed by a voice vote.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Is America, in the 21st century still the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" or has it become the "Land of the Cowed, and the Home of the Surveilled"?!?

The border between the US and Mexico is completely open, with no real control whatsoever; now, they want to lock the border against legal Americans leaving?!? Something is absolutely wrong with this picture.

U.S. Official: Saudis Have Used Cluster Bombs in Yemen

The U.S. knows the Saudi government has employed cluster bombs in its ongoing war against Shiite Muslim rebels in neighboring Yemen, but has done little if anything to stop the use of the indiscriminate and deadly weapons during what has become a human rights catastrophe in one of the Arab world's poorest countries.

With watchdog groups warning of war crimes and attacks striking civilians in Yemen, the Pentagon declined to comment publicly on whether it has discussed cluster bombs with Saudi Arabia or encouraged its military to cease using them, deferring all such questions to the State Department. But a Pentagon official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, tells U.S. News "the U.S. is aware that Saudi Arabia has used cluster munitions in Yemen."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Cluster bombs do such a magnificent job of ripping infants and toddlers apart with deadly dispatch.

It is painfully obvious that the Saudi government and military, and the US government, which allowed the Saudis to buy these weapons, collectively, have the morals of a trout, to be deploying this weapon in Yemen.

As reported at motherjones.com in June of this year:

On April 29, three adults and a child came across some fist-sized canisters on the ground outside of Baqim, a Yemeni town controlled by Houthi rebels. To the 10-year-old boy among them, they "looked like toys." Out of curiosity, they picked up the cannisters, which then exploded. All four were injured; a nurse told Human Rights Watch that the child was wounded in the stomach, and one of the adults received injuries to his face, torso, thigh, and crotch. Considering the kind of damage that cluster-bomb submunitions can cause, they're lucky to still be alive. Fighter jets from the Saudi Arabia-led coalition have been carrying out strikes against Houthi rebels since late March, when Yemeni President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi fled the country. Now, according to two recent Human Rights Watch investigations, they are also using cluster munitions, some supplied by the United States. The first HRW report was published on the heels of mounting concern over the growing toll of civilian casualties from the air campaign—more than 1,800 people have been killed as of late May; at least 135 of them were children. The second report found evidence that US-supplied cluster munitions deployed near populated areas are harming civilians. Here's a look at why American cluster bombs, which have been banned by more than 100 countries, are being used in Yemen. Which US cluster bombs are being using in Yemen? Of the three types of cluster munitions identified recently in Yemen, two were manufactured in the United States and supplied by the US government. The notorious BLU-97, dubbed "Yellow Killers" for their high failure rate, were supplied to Saudi Arabia in the early '90s and have been dropped by Saudi-led forces in Yemen's Saada Province. The other type is the CBU-105 Sensor Fuzed Weapon, manufactured by Textron Systems Corporation. The CBU-105's 10 submunitions each contain four "skeets." "Those are the things that actually go boom," says Goose. In 2013, Textron landed a controversial $641 million contract to produce 1,300 of the cluster bombs for Saudi Arabia. While the CBU-105 is banned under the Convention on Cluster Munitions, US law allows its export.

So let me get this straight: these cluster bombs are courtesy .... of the US government's allowing them to be sold for export?!?

HOW JEB BUSH FUNNELED PENSION MONEY TO LEHMAN BEFORE GETTING A $1.3 MILLION A YEAR CONSULTING JOB AT THE FIRM

At this point, it almost feels like kicking someone while he’s down. Jeb Bush can’t even stand up to Donald Trump, let alone his own growing series of scandals.

In the latest revelation from David Sirota and team at International Business Daily, we learn that:

For Florida taxpayers, the move by the administration of then-Gov. Jeb Bush to forge a relationship with Lehman Brothers would ultimately prove disastrous. Transactions in 2005 and 2006 put the Wall Street investment bank in charge of some $250 million worth of pension funds for Florida cops, teachers and firefighters. Lehman would capture more than $5 million in fees on these deals, while gaining additional contracts to manage another $1.2 billion of Florida’s money. Then, in the fall of 2008, Lehman collapsed into bankruptcy, leaving Florida facing up to $1 billion in losses.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable, but perfectly predictable from this political dynasty.

They are all about the money; and the people they hurt through their shenanigans can simply go to hell.

IF you want a President who will not give a damn about any of you, but only about his wealthy cronies, please continue to support this crook in his campaign.

On Michael Savage Today THREE Consecutive calls from govt. workers with high security clearances OPEN NEW CAN OF WORMS ON HILLARY EMAILS

One person after another – now it’s three four callers – were revealing stuff that there are extraordinary procedural requirements and systems that protect the top secret emails.

It’s difficult for me to regurgitate what the callers said, but Hillary has broken major laws to be able to send or receive the emails that she sent and received.

It’s literally impossible for non secure email accounts to send emails to the top secret rooms where those top secret emails must go when being sent or received.

So the Pentagon would be unable to send a satellite photo to her nonsecure email account nor could it receive one from a nonsecure email account.

They said it would take putting the emails on a thumb drive or the equivalent to remove it from the secure room. I got the impression that doing so was highly illegal.
