The US Coast Guard and the Environmental Protection Agency are assisting Texas state regulators in cleaning dozens of toxic spills from the vast network of petrochemical plants and refineries in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

EPA spokeswoman Terri White said it was not possible to provide an estimate for the amount of chemicals spilled.

Case against ex-Auschwitz medic Hubert Zafke dropped due to dementia

The decision on Tuesday came after Hubert Zafke was found unfit to stand trial for his role in the murder of more than 3,600 people at the Nazi death camp.

German prosecutors submitted a motion last month to the Neubrandenburg state court asking it to dismiss the case.

Zafke, who uses a wheelchair, was diagnosed with dementia in October 2015, which led to doubts about his ability to stand trial.

The United States Of Hubris

If anyone should have any questions about whether the United States of America is not the most aggressive, warlike, and terroristic nation on the face of the earth, its latest proposed action against the supposed rogue state of North Korea should allay any such doubts.

Last week, the US circulated a draft resolution which it intends to present to the UN Security Council that would give the American Navy and Air Force the power to interdict North Korean ships at sea to determine if they were transporting “weaponry material” or fuel and that US forces would be given “the right” to use “all necessary measures” to “enforce compliance.”*

The question which must be asked, at this point in its history, is whether the Unhinged, Surveilled States of Amerika are going to disappear as the result of a world war, or simply a sheer, economic collapse?!?

Because it is looking to me that we are headed to either one of those destinies as a nation; and unfortunately, there is no middle ground whatsoever here.

A bomb threat at the Santa Monica Pier in California is being investigated by police who have evacuated the popular tourist destination. The timing of such a scare on the 16th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks may heighten security concerns.

Rep. Franks Predicts Awans Will Get Immunity For "Significant, Disturbing Story" About Wasserman Schultz

Last week the Washington Examiner reported that Hina Alvi, the wife of Debbie Wasserman Schultz's now-infamous former IT staffer Imran Awan, had struck a deal with federal prosecutors to return to the U.S. where she currently faces charges of conspiracy and bank fraud. The deal with prosecutors mandates a return to the U.S. during the "last week of September 2017" and is structured so that she will not be arrested in front of her children.

Now, if you're the cynical type, then it might have struck you as somewhat odd that Alvi would agree to return from Pakistan, the place to which she successfully fled specifically to avoid the charges she now seems to be embracing.

One has to wonder just precisely what DWS (Debbie Wasserman Shultz) will do, or to what lengths she will go, to avoid indictment, coupled with a jury verdict against her, leading to jail time?!?

IF the Clintonistas expect her to take the fall for Clinton's dark doings, they may just want to reconsider.

FBI: Awans Security Clearances “Forged;” Granted Access to Congressional Intel Despite Falsified Vetting

Federal law enforcement agents working the Imran Awan and Hina Alvi fraud probe said the couple, along with other members of the family, were never properly vetted for Congressional security clearances.

Instead the clearances, which provided the Awans access to dozens of Congressional Democrats computer networks and IT systems, were likely approved absent each individual background file getting “fully investigated.”

“I seriously doubt they could have passed a full background (check),” one FBI insider said. “These clearances were pushed through.”

FBI insiders used the word “forged” to describe the process of what happened to the Awan files. Federal law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case divulged:

Either someone with clout in Congress, or higher, made sure the Awans received their security clearances despite glaring problems or the investigators pushed their files through for approval as part of a systemic breakdown.

IF, in fact, these charges are true, how many other Awans are floating about in DC, unvetted and unchecked, hacking and securing classified information from all sorts of Government officials?!?

Syria Summary – A New Clash Looms in Syria’s East

When the Islamic State siege on Deir Ezzor was broken by the Syrian Arab Army we asked:

Will the SAA cross the Euphrates at Deir Ezzor to retake the valuable oilfields east of it? Or will it stay south of the river and leave those oil fields to the Kurdish U.S. proxies in the north?

To cross the river is clearly desirable but also potentially contentious.

Since then several convoys of military bridging equipment have been seen on the road to Deir Ezzor. It is now obvious that the SAA will bridge the river (all regular bridges have been destroyed by U.S. bombing) and send significant forces across. New questions now are: When, where and with what aim?

The hatched areas of the map show possible next aims for the U.S. proxy campaign (yellow) and the Syrian government forces (red) in their fight against ISIS (grey) and against each other.

The question in my mind is not a question of if, but when US forces connect (unpleasantly) with Russian and Syrian forces over these oil fields.

War with Russia could be triggered on many fronts, like Ukraine, Iran, or Syria; it appears that those in the Bowels of Power in the Unhinged Surveilled States of America, are thinking seriously about the best scenario to "sell' to the American people as the justification for doing this.

Unfortunately for them, however, the citizens of this country have become very war-skeptical and war-weary, and are beginning to demand of those power brokers in the USSA, that they resolve their geopolitical differences with true diplomacy, and rational, moral hard-won negotiations, rather than through bombs and bullets.

The cost, in American blood and American money, has just been far too great to continue upon this path to national economic self-destruction;and remember that no 16 year-old teenager alive today has ever lived on a planet where the USSA wasn't at war, declared or undeclared, with some other country.

Lieberman warns Syrians any confrontation will ‘end badly for them’

After Syria threatens repercussions following airstrike attributed to Israel the state's Scientific Studies and Research Center, Israel’s defense minister issues tough warning against following up on threats, warning Syria ‘not to test us, because we take threats seriously.’

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Monday issued a threatening message to President Assad's regime in Syria, saying "I strongly suggest to our neighbors in the north not to try us or make threats," while warning any confrontation would "end very badly for them."

Regarding the attack attributed to Israel in Syria, Qassem said that it was not a prelude to the war and that there was no need to blow the situation out of proportion.

UN Nuclear Watchdog Defends Iran Deal

The UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is responsible for verification of the P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran. This means they offer monthly assessments, all of which have affirmed Iran is in total compliance with its requirements under the deal.

Monthly reminders of that fact are increasingly seen as insufficient, however, with the US government publicly attacking the pact and making wild accusations of unspecific Iranian violations. Now, IAEA officials feel obliged to publicly defend the concept of a deal, the nature of this specific deal, and Iran’s compliance all at once.

IAEA chief Amano Yukiya today defended the deal’s verification program as the “most robust” ever, noting that the IAEA has dramatically increased its number of inspections in Iran since the deal was signed, calling the pact a “clear and significant gain.”

I would very strongly caution President Trump against taking a more martial posture against Iran, and will politely remind him of the following: his BFF in the Middle East, Israel's Prime Minister Beyamin Netanyahu, is constantly clamoring for regime change in Tehran; but only at the costs of American blood and American money.

Senate Leaders Attempt to Limit Debate on Repealing AUMF

Senate officials are hoping to get to a final vote on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a military spending bill in excess of $700 billion. Getting to that vote, however, means dealing with all the military and war-related amendments in the bill.

Senate leaders appear to have decided that the easiest way to get around this is to severely curtail debate on certain particularly controversial issues, with an 89-3 vote today agreeing to limit procedural debates on the matter.

Sen. Paul intends to repeal the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF). The amendment is seen as politically awkward for some hawks, who argue that they want to create a new AUMF that explicitly covers current wars, but who are reluctant to see any limitations placed on the way America’s wars are waged.

The real problem with the AUMF, as it is currently written and acted upon, is that it has given Presidents Bush, Obama, and Trump a "blank check" for funding wars to their liking, but has absolutely neutered Congress' abilities, and responsibilities, for waging wars, as they are given power to do by the Constitution.

And the last thing Congress doesn't want to have to do, is own responsibility for these wars when they go "mammary glands vertical", as they have in Libya, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, 16 years on.

Russia to US: ‘Stop destroying our relationship, start solving problems you’ve caused’

The much-touted meeting between US Under Secretary of State Thomas Shannon and Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in Helsinki has produced no breakthrough, with Russia confirming that further retaliatory measures against US diplomats are imminent.
“We urged them to stop destroying Russian-American relations and undermining international law, and to occupy themselves with solving problems that have arisen not due to any fault of our own,” said a statement from the Russian foreign ministry at the conclusion of the first day of a two-day summit.

A private company is turning a profit by surveilling people online and then selling valuable information to law enforcement and government agencies.

According to The Washington Post, the company, Babel Street, offers “a subscription called Babel X” which trawls through “some 40 online sources, scooping up data from popular sites such as Instagram and a Korean social media platform as well as inside ‘dark Web’ forums where cybercriminals lurk.”

Monster Solar Flare Marks 7th Powerful Sun Storm in 7 Days

The sun fired off yet another powerful solar flare yesterday (Sept. 10), its seventh in seven days.
The flare, which peaked at 12:06 EDT (1606 GMT), covered North and South America in high-energy light. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) released a statement that warned of strong, high-frequency radio blackouts and navigation-system disruption, potentially lasting up to an hour.

Two of the six recent flares from AR 2673 were X-class — including Wednesday's (Sept. 6) monster X9.3, which was the most powerful solar flare since 2005.

Strong solar flares are often accompanied by coronal mass ejections (CMEs), eruptions that send clouds of superheated solar plasma racing into space at several million miles per hour. CMEs that slam into Earth can trigger geomagnetic storms, which can temporarily disrupt power grids and interfere with satellite communications, among other negative effects.

MASSIVE RUSSIAN, NATO WARGAMES SET TO BEGIN AMID MUTUAL ACCUSATIONS OF PROVOCATION

NATO, having outlived its usefulness, post World War II, seems to have had to conjure up a bogeyman to justify its existence in the 21st century, and seems to have settled upon Russia as the "villain du jour" right now.

But looking at troop movements recently, in which NATO troops literally have Russia surrounded, any stupid miscalculation, any miscommunication, could trigger a shooting war which thinking people in Europe or Russia wants at all.

WELCOME TO 1984: BIG BROTHER GOOGLE NOW WATCHING YOUR EVERY POLITICAL MOVE

Google has taken the unprecedented step of burying material, mostly from websites on the political right, that it has deemed to be inappropriate. The problem, however, is that the world's largest search engine is a left-leaning company with an ax to grind.

Let's face it, deep down in our heart of hearts we knew the honeymoon wouldn't last forever. Our willingness to place eternal faith in an earth-straddling company that oversees the largest collection of information ever assembled was doomed to end in a bitter divorce from the start. After all, each corporation, just like humans, has their own political proclivities, and Google is certainly no exception. But we aren't talking about your average car company here.

The short answer, if you do not want your life surveilled by Google, is to use alternative search engines which are censorship free, like Yandex, or DuckDuckGo, while you still can.

RON PAUL: POLICE STATE WAS PLANNED, 9/11 JUST ‘PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY’ TO IMPLEMENT IT

Sept. 11, 2001, is remembered for a number of reasons, and one of the most important, which often goes unnoticed, is that it was used as an excuse to degrade the liberties of Americans through the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act.

The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act was signed into law by President George W. Bush on Oct. 26, 2001—just 45 days after 9/11. The act passed in the Senate with a vote of 98-1, and it passed in the House with a vote of 357-66.

Former Texas Congressman Ron Paul was one of the few who voted against the act when he was in the House of Representatives, and he has been speaking out against it ever since. Paul is also known for his presidential campaigns, and when he was seeking the Republican nomination in the 2012 election, he reminded the world of one of the most crucial aspects of the PATRIOT Act.

Those of us who are old enough to remember a time before 9/11 can recall “the good old days” before the police state was ramped up to the militaristic control grid that it is today.

We remember a time before fear became the only thing that your television fed you. Sure, the propaganda machine and the war machine has existed long before 9/11, but since that fateful day, the fear peddlers and the tyrants have cranked it up a notch – or ten.

Freedom diminishing step one: The TSA

Think about it; Google's algorithms can now push a search for an "unfavorable narrative" so deeply down, that it cannot be found.

And new legislation continues to be proposed to side-step the First Amendment to the point where it is utterly meaningless.

If ever there was a time to peacefully push back against this slo-mo diminution of our rights, which has made some men, like Michael Chertoff , filthy rich by manufacturing the equipment the TSA uses to "Code Napoleon" you (literally declaring you are guilty, through their "pat down process" before being proven innocent, before boarding a flight), right the heck now is the time.

Donald Trump was interviewed on WWOR 9 News in New York on 9/11/2001. Excerpt: "It wasn’t architectural defect. The World Trade Center was always known as a very very strong building. Don’t forget that took a big bomb in the basement (1993). Now, the basement is the most vulnerable place because that’s your foundation and it withstood that and I got to see that area about three or four days after took place because one of my structural engineers actually took me for a tour because he did the building and I said “I can’t believe it”. The the building was standing solid and half of the columns were blown out. This was an unbelievably powerful building. If you don’t know anything about structure it was one of the first buildings that was built from the outside. The steel, the reason the World Trade Center had such narrow windows is that in between all the windows, you had the steel on the outside, the steel on the outside of the building.
