U.S. And NATO Accelerate Military Build-Up In Black Sea Region

The establishment of U.S. and NATO naval, air and infantry bases and interceptor missile installations in Black Sea nations is the prototype for expansive and permanent military build-ups in Eastern Europe and into former Soviet space, which is being replicated in the Baltic Sea region. An imaginary Iranian threat is the subterfuge employed to justify the presence of U.S. and NATO warplanes, warships, troops, mechanized and airborne units, missile batteries, training centers and radar facilities in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions.

Iran does not border either of the two seas and has neither the ability nor any reason to threaten nations that do.

Obama is Boxed In From the Gulf to Afghanistan

Afghanistan and the BP oil spill are uncannily identical in reality and reaction. Boxing himself in on both, each crisis quickly surpassed "the experts" and Obama's worst expectations. The White House’s subsequent cover-ups mirror and at times exceed its actual attempts to halt the flow of Taliban and oil.

Senators press for National Guard troops on border

Homeland Security and Pentagon officials are at loggerheads over a plan to send National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, even as President Barack Obama is pledging to bolster security there.

The Guard stalemate has festered for nearly a year, and frustrated lawmakers are demanding action to stem the spread of violence and drug trafficking that has spilled across the border into their states. The inaction raises questions about whether the White House is convinced the federally funded deployment is necessary, or whether border states will be forced to bear the costs of dispatching the Guard troops on their own.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This most probably will not happen; neither the Federal Government, nor the states, have the funds to make this a reality, and the Federal government doesn't really care what is happening to the southern border states due to crime or illegal immigration.

Watchdog groups file FOIA requests to learn true extent of oil spill

Former EPA investigator charges, ""What the government has done over the past several years is taught BP that it can do whatever it wants and will not be held accountable"

As the current Gulf oil spill crisis intensifies, previous incidents involving BP have begun coming under renewed scrutiny, intensifying suspicions that the company may be concealing the true extent of the spill.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) and Greenpeace have now filed four Freedom of Information Act requests seeking documents and video feeds.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears, under Obama's watch, that the US government has been the primary enabler of BP's professional malfeasance.

CASPER OPINON: MAY 20, 2010

For weeks all the news said 5000 barrels a day leaking into the gulf. This morning BP says 5000 barrels a day being 'captured'. Tuesday I met with an engineer who had just returned from the well site Sunday. He said 'the word' on site is that as much as 70,000 barrels a day have been spewing into the gulf. The oil has been suppressed below surface level using toxic chemicals provided by a BP affiliate. The engineer said the suppressed oil now covers an area the size of Delaware and Rhode Island combined. Obama, his HLS management on site and BP are intentionally suppressing from public view the enormity of the disaster.

Fishermen Report Illness From BP Chemicals

More and more stories about sick fishermen are beginning to surface after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

One fisherman said he felt like he was going to die over the weekend.

"I've been coughing up stuff," Gary Burris said. "Your lungs fill up."

"Kill Them All, For God Will Know His Own"

The truly sickening thing about the death of Aiyana Jones is that the decision to carry out a SRT raid was almost certainly dictated by the media ambitions of Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans, who -- in the words of Detroit News columnist Charlie LeDuff -- is positioning himself as a "reality TV" star.

"Television executives around the country have been shown what is known in television parlance as the `sizzle reel' of Chief Evans himself, a video compilation of Detroit's top cop trying to take back the streets," writes LeDuff, who saw that footage several weeks ago. "It is part of a pitch for a full-blown television series."

Juan Cole : Iran Threatens to Pull out of Nuclear Deal over new UN Sanctions

Turkey and Brazil, with full backing from Washington DC and in close cooperation with the Obama administration, had apparently succeeded by Monday morning in negotiating a deal whereby Iran would send over half of its low enriched uranium to Turkey, which would then send it on to (presumably) France and Russia for enrichment to 19.75 percent for use in Iran’s medical reactor for the production of medical isotopes. The deal was nearly identical to the one sought last October in Geneva by the Obama administration. Iran had agreed to something like this arrangement, but then reneged.

Rand Paul, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the Senate from Kentucky, has issued a statement entitled The United States Special Relationship with Israel, in which he takes positions on Israel that are far from those advocated by his father, Texas Congressman Ron Paul.
Israel and the United States have a special relationship. PHILIP GIRALDI : Shaping the Story on Iran

There have been recent reports that Iran has enabled the travel of al-Qaeda leaders to Afghanistan and Pakistan where they will be able to confront and kill American soldiers. If you think you have heard the story before, you have, in another context. In the earlier rendition it was Saddam Hussein who was hand-in-glove with al-Qaeda, helping the group in its nefarious planning to attack the United States and kill Americans. Saddam, who was in reality only a threat to his own people, was on the receiving end of a barrage of fabricated information claiming that he was secretly developing weapons of mass destruction and clandestinely dealing with the terrorists who were responsible for 9/11. Or so the story goes.

White House Covers Up Menacing Oil "Blob"

In an exclusive for Oilprice.com, the Wayne Madsen Report (WMR) has learned from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sources that U.S. Navy submarines deployed to the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean off the Florida coast have detected what amounts to a frozen oil blob from the oil geyser at the destroyed Deep Horizon off-shore oil rig south of Louisiana. The Navy submarines have trained video cameras on the moving blob, which remains frozen at depths of between 3,000 to 4,000 feet. Because the oil blob is heavier than water, it remains frozen at current depths.

One month after the fiery collapse of the Deepwater Horizon, BP bowed to demands from scientists and members of Congress yesterday and said it would post a live video feed of the gusher of oil on the ocean floor.

Gulf Oil Spill: Government Remains Blind To Underwater Oil Hazard

The Obama administration is actively trying to dismiss media reports that vast plumes of oil lurk beneath the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, unmeasured and uncharted.

But the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, whose job it is to assess and track the damage being caused by the BP oil spill that began four weeks ago, is only monitoring what's visible -- the slick on the Gulf's surface -- and currently does not have a single research vessel taking measurements below.

Nightmare scene as oil smothers Louisiana wetlands

Crude oil spread through fragile US marshlands Thursday, a month after a drilling rig blast released a devastating spill that now threatens Florida, Cuba and even beyond.

Oil has been pouring into the Gulf of Mexico since the massive April 20 explosion on the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon rig that killed 11 and ruptured an underwater well pipe.

While British Petroleum said Thursday that a tube was now siphoning away 3,000 barrels of oil a day from the leak, a nightmare scene was unfolding in Louisiana wetlands.

Dear Mr. Blitzer,

Yesterday, you and CNN were all over the story about the conviction of Khalid Ouazzani, an American citizen who donated money to Al Qaeda. While watching, it occurred to me that you do an excellent job of defining what is terrorism and what isn't. Here was a brown guy, a Muslim, who donated $23,000 to Al Qaeda for use overseas. Obviously, he's a terrorist, and you took care to make that clear throughout your broadcast.

There was also a sentancing yesterday you didn't mention. The guilty man's name is Pastor Robert Joos. He's guilty, along with two others, of sending a mail bomb to The Scottsdale City Diversity Office. It was opened by the diversity officer, Don Logan, who sustained major injuries from the explosion. Additionally, one of Joos's congregants, Timothy Coombs, is wanted for the sniper slaying of the officer who arrested Joos--Coombs shot him, pro-life style, through the policeman's kitchen window while he was making a dish of ice cream.

Paul Jay of Real News Network blogs "On reality and bitter truths."

That's the problem with most news these days. Journalists know that people with power publicly say things that are in their interests, and often not what they really think or want. Journalists understand there is an economic and political elite and when they say "for the good of the nation", they mean themselves. That we live in a class society is a fact everyone knows but few journalists acknowledge in their work.

There are great economic and social pressures brought to bear on journalists to go along with the official narrative. We saw this in the extreme in American newsrooms after 9/11 and in coverage of the Iraq war. Dan Rather and Tom Fenton of CBS have both talked about the fear in US newsrooms of being called unpatriotic if they criticized the Bush administration.

How Bush's DOJ Killed a Criminal Probe Into BP That Threatened to Net Top Officials

West was the special agent-in-charge at the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Criminal Investigation Division who had been probing alleged crimes committed by BP and the company's senior officials in connection with a March 2006 pipeline rupture at the company's Prudhoe Bay operations in Alaska's North Slope that spilled 267,000 gallons of crude oil across two acres of frozen tundra - the second largest spill in Alaska's history - which went undetected for nearly a week.

West was confident that the thousands of hours he invested into the criminal investigation would result in felony charges against BP and the company's senior executives who received advanced warnings from dozens of employees who worked at its Prudhoe Bay facility that unless immediate steps were taken to repair the severely corroded pipeline, a disaster on par with that of the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill was only a matter of time.

Gulf oil spill may be 19 times bigger than originally thought

The latest glimpse of video footage of the oil spill deep under the Gulf of Mexico indicates that around 95,000 barrels, or 4 million gallons, a day of crude oil may be spewing from the leaking wellhead, 19 times the previous estimate, an engineering professor told Congress on Wednesday.

Professor of Mechanical Engineering Estimates that 4 Million Gallons of Oil are Leaking Every Day

As the Christian Science Monitor writes:

It's now likely that the actual amount of the oil spill dwarfs the Coast Guard's figure of 5,000 barrels, or 210,000 gallons, a day.

Independent scientists estimate that the renegade wellhead at the bottom of the Gulf could be spewing up to 25,000 barrels a day. If chokeholds on the riser pipe break down further, up to 50,000 barrels a day could be released, according to a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration memo obtained by the Mobile, Ala., Press-Register.

Outspoken Professor Fired from Oil-Spill Team

Jonathan I. Katz, a physics professor at Washington University in St. Louis., said he was fired from the team of scientists chosen by U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu to help BP Plc control the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

“Some of Professor Katz’s controversial writings have become a distraction from the critical work of addressing the oil spill,” Stephanie Mueller, a spokeswoman for the Energy Department, said in an e-mail today. “Professor Katz will no longer be involved in the department’s efforts.

Poor Thai ‘red shirts’ victims of the New World Order

As the proverbial red carrot, ‘democracy’ is held out by the World’s elite via the by-them-controlled mass media, as “the ideal system that will bring liberty and equality, and bla bla bla“, and it is all a total lie!
Just look at the United States itself, that great proponent of this big lie, its voting machines are rigged and its government is now fully hijacked by a financial power elite, driving away and marginalising their own normal people into “tea parties” because they want to “take back their country!”

GORDON DUFF: SLAVE AMERICA, HOLOCAUST BY DECEIT

In order to be slaves, we had to be conditioned to become slaves. This was done in increments, causing us to distrust each other, put our reliance on charismatic leaders, all of whom have turned out to be sociopaths, professional liars and thieves, mouthpieces for a very real conspiracy against the American people. Part of that conditioning was confusing Americans to the point where we would blame each other, one imaginary enemy after another, all blamed for our failures, our poverty, our decline while, when we weren’t looking, our economy drained into the foreign bank accounts of the few and our jobs flushed into Mexico, then China.

The Death of Aiyana Jones: "Showtime Syndrome" Claims a Child (UPDATED)

Conflict and danger, whether genuine or contrived, make for high-impact television; de-escalation and sober, careful police work do not. Thus embedding camera crews with the police -- only officially vetted personnel from State-aligned media are suitable; Mundanes with cameras are subject to summary arrest -- creates a perverse incentive for "peace" officers to choose an approach more likely to result in avoidable death, injury, and property destruction.

Aiyana Jones, the 7-year-old girl shot to death early Sunday (May 17) during a SWAT raid on her Detroit home, was almost certainly a victim of the "COPS Effect."

A Dangerous Precedent?

Few will argue that there are not sexually dangerous prisoners who should not see the light of day. Due to lax laws, lenient judges and a corrupt judicial system, all manner of criminals are let loose upon society after their sentences are over to continue their deviant ways.

But today's supreme court decision that federal officials can indefinitely hold inmates considered "sexually dangerous" after their prison terms are complete could be setting the stage for 'indefinite detention' and 'preventive detention' of prisoners of all sorts, including political ones.

Planet Chomsky vs. Dershowitz’s Orbit by Gilad Atzmon

The Israeli Interior Ministry on Sunday denied entry to Jewish American linguist Prof. Noam Chomsky turning him back from the Allenby Bridge border crossing in the Jordan Valley. Seemingly, the moral ash cloud that is pouring out of the morbid Jewish ghetto known as Israel is not going to clear. It is there to stay.

Criminal Negligence: Despite Knowing It Had a Damaged Blowout Preventer, BP STILL Cut Corners By Removing the Single Most Important Safety Measure

Several weeks before the Gulf oil explosion, a key piece of safety equipment - the blowout preventer - was damaged.

As the Times of London reports:

"[Mike Williams, the chief electronics technician on the Deepwater Horizon, and one of the last workers to leave the doomed rig] claimed that the blowout preventer was then damaged when a crewman accidentally moved a joystick, applying hundreds of thousands of pounds of force. Pieces of rubber were found in the drilling fluid, which he said implied damage to a crucial seal. But a supervisor declared the find to be "not a big deal", Mr Williams alleged."

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to hazard a guess that because the managers and executives at PB thought they were untouchable for any liability, due to the company's significant political clout, they would make decisions like this, and ignore standards and practices which might have prevented this disaster from happening.

Oil Already in Loop Current, Headed for Florida Keys

Researchers have evidence that oil from the Deepwater Horizon well accident in the Gulf of Mexico is on its way to the Florida Keys, carried by currents.

That evidence comes from computer models, satellite images and an eyewitness observation on a University of South Florida research vessel.

That ship, the Weatherbird II, returned Monday after studying plankton levels at the oil spill site.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We're going to see "dead zones" in a lot of the areas into which the oil has already spilled.

As oil spill approaches, dead animals wash up in Mississippi

Gus Holliman has spent the last two days riding the beaches in this coastal Mississippi town, hoping not to find dead animals.

On Saturday the sea turtles started washing up on shore. On Sunday, the turtles were joined by dead catfish, horseshoe crabs, and birds -- a duck, a pelican and a seagull.

Before the April 20 rig explosion and oil started pouring into the Gulf, the city might see a small turtle wash up every six months -- one that got caught in a net, or died from some natural cause, said Holliman, a City of Pass Christian patrol officer, who works the harbor.

Tar Balls Found Off Key West

The U.S. Coast Guard says 20 tar balls have been found off Key West, Fla., but the agency stopped short of saying whether they came from a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Some 5 million gallons of crude has spewed into the Gulf and tar balls have been washing ashore in several states along the coast.

Scientists are worried that oil is getting caught in a major ocean current that could carry it through the Florida Keys and up the East Coast.

Director of federal drilling safety oversight in Gulf calls it quits

Chris Oynes, appointed during the Bush administration to oversee offshore energy oversight at the Mineral Management Service (MMS), has quit.

"After 35 years of service," an MMS employee told AFP, Oynes plans to announce his retirement soon, leaving behind a career forever tarnished by a photo of him presenting Transocean, the Deepwater Horizon's owners, with a safety award.

His agency is blamed for severely lax safety oversight and neglecting inspections in BP's massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Under Oynes' watch, there literally was no oversight, which lead this country to the catastrophe we see today in the Gulf.

This man does not deserve a retirement and a watch: he deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of Federal law for absolute dereliction of duty.

The Responses to the Gulf Oil Spill and to the Financial Crisis Are Remarkably Similar ... And Have Made Both Crises Much Worse

Indeed, the industry and government spokespeople have used the exact same word as each crisis - financial and environmental - unfolded. They said the problem was "contained".

In both cases, we the people are left holding the bag because the giant companies and their campaign-contribution-buddies in DC are trying to sweep the severity of the problem under the rug, to manage the crisis as p.r. campaigns to protect those who let it happen ... instead of actually taking steps necessary to solve the problems, and to make sure they won't happen again.

Saakashvili: Brazil, Turkey-brokered Iranian Deal is Breakthrough

President Saakashvili said on May 17 that an agreement, mediated by Brazil and Turkey, to send low-enriched uranium to Turkey in exchange for receiving nuclear fuel for an Iranian nuclear reactor was "a diplomatic victory" and "a matter of survival" for the small countries of the region.

"This is a real diplomatic breakthrough and a great diplomatic victory for Iran, Europe, the United States and the world and for the entire region, for Turkey and of course for Georgia... This is peace for Iran and for the entire region and for Georgia as well," Saakashvili said.

Purposely Killing The Gulf?

The private, foreign International Monetary/Banking Cartel controls its puppets in Washington as it controls its oil company executives. And everything the Cartel does is anti-life, there are absolutely no exceptions; and their pretended Gulf oil clean-up is a glaring case in point.

Instead of cleaning up the unprecedented catastrophe created by the Cartel's mega-corporations (Halliburton, Transocean, and British Petroleum), these very same companies are purposely killing our Gulf of Mexico, under the pretense of cleaning it up.

Instead of using safe, non-toxic ways to gather up the rogue oil gushing from their incompetence, or planned cataclysm, the private Cartel is using an extremely toxic chemical dispersant, with the approval of the Obama administration.

Franklin Lamb : Why We Petition For Palestinian Civil Rights in Lebanon

“We don’t have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change or resistance. Small acts, when multiplied by many people, can transform the world”

“If we remember those times and places–and there are so many–where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.” Professor Howard Zinn (1922-2010)

Elvis Costello: Withdraws from two performances scheduled in Israel

It Is After Considerable Contemplation….

I have lately arrived at the decision that I must withdraw from the two performances scheduled in Israel on the 30th of June and the 1st of July.

One lives in hope that music is more than mere noise, filling up idle time, whether intending to elate or lament.

Then there are occasions when merely having your name added to a concert schedule may be interpreted as a political act that resonates more than anything that might be sung and it may be assumed that one has no mind for the suffering of the innocent.
