National Inflation Association (NIA) believes that the decoupling we have been predicting of precious metals from the Dow Jones has now officially taken place. We have now seen the Dow Jones decline by 6.1% from its high on August 9th, along with both gold and silver rising by about 3.3% during this same time period.

Border Agents Slam Obama Administration
"How many times have Americans heard lawmakers, mayors, governors, and immigration advocates when asked about Arizona enforcing immigration law, claim that their police officers aren't authorized or trained to enforce immigration laws?" asks a career law enforcement officer from New York.
"Well, either these government leaders are too ignorant to to hold office or they're out-and-out lying to the American people," said former NYPD detective Sid Franes.
The Immigration and Nationality Act includes section 287(g), added in 1996, that grants local and state jurisdictions the ability to enforce immigration law with proper training and supervision by federal authorities.

BP Gulf Oil Spill's Walking Dead

Millions exposed to uncontrolled hemorrhaging, lesions, cancers

Recently, frustrated scientists presented evidence that millions of Gulf area residents were poisoned by the BP Gulf disaster. Worse, they believe that millions more could be exposed to long term poisoning.

Yet other than those worried scientists few seemed to care.

Now more frightening evidence has emerged: areas of the Gulf Coast may have been saturated with high levels of benzene, hydrogen sulfide and radioactive hydrocarbon effluents--three deadly substances that can cause disease and death years after the initial exposures.

"Benzene and Other Toxic Solvents and Chemicals" - Benzene is a known human carcinogen. Work-related exposure to benzene has been linked to the development of blood cancers and blood disorders. Examples of blood diseases that may be caused by occupational benzene exposure include acute myelogenous leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome (which can progress into acute myelogenous leukemia over time), aplastic anemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. Certain other toxic solvents and chemicals may also be a cause of blood cancers and disorders. Link:

BP releases benzene in Texas too For 40 days, flares burned 500,000 pounds of toxic chemicals over BP's Texas City refinery. Yet residents didn't know until weeks later that the flare released 17,000 pounds of cancer-causing benzene. Link:

“Radioactive Hydrocarbon Effluent ...from oil and which possesses higher levels of radium isotopes. The deeper the petroleum reserves, the more likely the reservoirs of oil and methane in those geological formations will contain uranium, thorium or radium. Given the elevated levels of radioactivity at the source, the level of radioactivity associated with the hydrocarbon effluent coming out of the well will inevitably be impacted. Radium isotopes have inherent health risks that ought to be identified and properly disseminated. The concerned resident of the Gulf Coast may want to initiate him/herself in the area of health impacts due to long-term exposure to low grade radioactivity. Of course, the seafood, the waters and the beaches all provide different vehicles for such contamination to take place, each with varying consequences.'

The War on Food: Eggsactly What Is Going On Here?

Small family farms, once these bills pass (and we assume they will, just like previous crisis legislation), will be annihilated as the government will force them to use only ‘approved' seeds, feed, equipment and fertilizers. They will be mandated to follow specific regulatory procedures for production and distribution, for which they will pay additional fees. Eventually, the farmers will go out of business, in many cases losing their land to foreclosure. And, we suspect, that large farming corporations will quickly step in to snatch up their farms at significant discounts.

Prepare yourself for the War on Food. One day, food raids will be as common as a drug raid

Review of Justin Vaïsse, Neoconservatism: The Biography of a Movement

By Stephen J. Sniegoski (My Catbird Seat)

The mainstream media acclaim Neoconservatism: The Biography of a Movement as the best book on neoconservatism—the definitive account—and portray its author, Justin Vaïsse, a French specialist on American foreign policy and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, as a veritable Alexis de Tocqueville for his masterly insights.

The mainstream’s high praise of this book, however, would seem to be due in large part to its minimization of two taboo issues—neoconservatism’s Jewish nature and its focus on Israel. Where the book breaks through what was heretofore largely blacked-out in the mainstream media is its discussion of the major role played by the neoconservatives in bringing about the war on Iraq.

Vaccines May Help Prevent Egg Recalls

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Low-cost vaccines that may help prevent the kind of salmonella outbreak that has led to the recall of more than a half-billion eggs haven't been given to nearly half the nation's egg-laying hens.

The vaccines aren't required in the U.S., although in Great Britain, officials say vaccinations have given them the safest egg supply in Europe. A survey conducted by the European food safety agency in 2009 found about 1 percent of British flocks had salmonella compared to about 60 to 70 percent of flocks elsewhere in Europe, said Amanda Cryer, spokeswoman for the British Egg Information Service.

Since Britain's vaccinations began, the only salmonella outbreaks in eggs have been linked to those imported from elsewhere in the European Union, Cryer said. Overall salmonella cases in the country dropped by half within three years.

Investigation under way in clunker program

WASHINGTON, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- At least 20 car dealerships are being investigated for violating rules in last year's U.S. cash-for-clunkers program, officials say.

The investigation has found that up to $94 million in rebates might be ineligible because of improper documentation, USA Today said Monday.

The $3 billion program was designed to help the economy, and officials say while there is no indication of widespread fraud nine dealers have paid a total of more than $71,000 in fines.

The program had some other problems, officials said.

Trade-in vehicles that were supposed to have been destroyed may have been illegally shipped overseas, said Gary Middleton, a program manager for the Department of Transportation's inspector general's office.

Massachusetts Towns Stop Enforcing Marijuana Laws

BOSTON — Some Massachusetts towns have given up enforcing a law that decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana, saying the law is written with too many loopholes to be effective.

The law established a civil fine of $100 for those caught with an ounce or less of marijuana. That replaced what had been a criminal offense carrying a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $500 fine, also for possession of an ounce or less of the drug.

But the law – overwhelmingly passed as a ballot measure in November 2008 – does not require offenders correctly identify themselves nor does it provide a way to force them to pay the fines.

BP Gulf Oil Spill Seafloor Fractured So Bad Oil May Leak For Years Even If Relief Well Succeeds

Since the blowout BP has stonewalled congress about the integrity of the well and cracks in sea floor.

Immediately after BP capped the well the pressure was far short of target BP and the Government set for an “intact well” and as time passed the pressure still failed to rise significantly indicating the well integrity test failed.

Soon afterward the ROV’s spotted a new leak on the BOP.

The feds then ignored the warning signs, which included multiple leaks on the BOP and the sea bed. and allowed the well to remain shut in even though it risked an uncontrolled underground blowout and came up with a fantasy story about well depletion being the cause of the low pressure in the well.

Then came the news that 40 feet of the relief well collapsed followed by the discovery of a new methane leak found coming from the base of the BOP just inches from the well.

The government then allowed BP to fill the well with mud during the static kill operation and declared that the well was dead even though the well continued to leak.

As the well continued to leak the Government then gave BP the authorization to fill the production casing with cement even though there was a risk that the cement would not cure properly because of the leaks.

That was followed by an increase of oil and methane hydrate leaks popping up all over the sea floor after which BP started filtering the video feeds to hide the leaks.

Then 48 hours after cementing the well the leaks coming from the sea floor continued and became worse as BP started to degrade the quality of the video feeds and was caught once again filtering the video to hide oil and methane leaks from the cracks on the sea floor.

Then oil industry experts came forward and declared that the entire static kill operation failed and has made it even harder for BP to seal the well.

Finally, almost out of the blue, BP lowered a tool to the well flush it of hydrocarbons in a test that was supposed to run for 48 hours but for some unexplained reason was interrupted last light.

That leads us up to today when the federal government has postponed the relief wells until September while admitting that a collapse in the rock formation and not the cement it pumped into the well may be preventing the flow of oil.

Meanwhile the leaks on the sea floor continue and we have even seen a massive tornado form on the sea floor and a crater that was apparently created from it.

All of these events combined with BK Lim’s analysis and Dr. Bea’s revelations tell us that we have some massive fractures on the sea floor that are leaking all over the place and while the BP and the Feds have declared mission accomplished in reality this is far from over.

Thousands strain Fort Hood's mental health system

About every fourth soldier here, where 48,000 troops and their families are based, has been in counseling during the past year, according to the service's medical statistics. And the number of soldiers seeking help for combat stress, substance abuse, broken marriages or other emotional problems keeps increasing.

A common refrain by the Army's vice chief of staff, Gen. Peter Chiarelli, is that far more soldiers suffer mental health issues than the Army anticipated. Nowhere is this more evident than at Fort Hood, where emotional problems among the soldiers threaten to overwhelm the system in place to help them.

Counselors are booked. The 12-bed inpatient psychiatric ward is full more often than not. Overflow patient-soldiers are sent to private local clinics that stay open for 10 hours a day, six days a week to meet the demand.

"We are full to the brim," says Col. Steve Braverman, commander of the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center on the post.

Benjamin Netanyahu rejects demands to continue settlement freeze

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, threw hopes for a smooth resumption of Middle East peace talks into turmoil by rejecting demands to continue a freeze on settlement building in the West Bank.

Mr Netanyahu said any deal must provide real security for Israel, provide a solution to the refugee problem within a future demilitarised Palestinian state, and must include Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state and an 'end of conflict’ clause.

Let me get this straight, Netenyahu wants Palestinians' to recognize the state of Israel's ownership of stolen lands and not to retaliate when they kill or blow-up Palestinian homes and other public buildings. Recall that Israel has never defined its boarders, which allows them to annex adjacent lands. Coupled with the blockade around the remaining Palestinian territory that is slowly starving them to death. A Vision For State-Owned Banking in Wisconsin

David Redick

State-owned banks are finally being seen as a step in the right direction away from dependency on, and control by, the Federal government and its cohort, the private Federal Reserve. State-banking initiatives have now been undertaken in 14 states, with Wisconsin being a recent addition.

The long-term goal of state-run banks is to end inflation, and reduce wars and business cycles by abolishing the Federal Reserve (and its unlimited supply of fake money), while allowing private mints to issue real gold currency, and "representative" paper certificates and token coins, redeemable for gold to bearer on demand, for convenience. The short-term goal is to keep the profits and lending in the state to enhance local economic development.

We successfully went in four more times, taking in another 100+ witnesses, European members of Parliament, charity workers from the Gulf, doctors, activists who stayed to work in Gaza, and Palestinians who just wanted to go home and visit. We brought out 38 Palestinians, including students who had visas to attend universities, yet Israel would not allow them to leave.

Open Letter to the Panorama BBC Team

Mairead Maguire, Nobel Peace Laureate (

Dear BBC Panorama Team

I write to you regarding your programme of 16th August, 2010, about The Freedom Flotilla and particularly the killings of unarmed civilians by Israeli Navy Seals on the ship MV “Mavi Marmara’, on 3lst May, 2010.

I have been campaigning for the rights of Palestinians for over ten years. I have visited Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories many times. I was part of the Freedom Flotilla in May on the MV ‘Rachel Corrie’, my third journey on a Free Gaza boat. I am deeply disappointed at the misrepresentation, lack of truth, and bias displayed by your programme.

The Iraq Legacy: Tell It Like It Is

By Medea Benjamin (
With the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq, the administration, the military and the media are trying to put a positive spin on this grim chapter of U.S. history. It would certainly give some comfort to the grieving families of the over 4,400 soldiers killed in Iraq if their sacrifices had left Iraq a better place or made America safer. But the bitter truth is that the U.S. intervention has been an utter disaster for both Iraq and the United States.

CEOs Blame Consumer Class for Joblessness: Admit Economy Grows From Bottom Up

Eric Blair
Activist Post

The economic debate has been going on for decades: if only we give more money to the wealthy Elite, they will create jobs and some crumbs will trickle down to the hungry public. Many in the middle-class herd bought this carrot in hopes of heehawing their way into the next tax bracket.

Indeed, this approach may have been effective during the industrial revolution when entrepreneurs used the capital to open American factories. And surely this method can also work if fair trade agreements existed that would motivate job growth at home, but that is just not the world we live in anymore.

A 'habitual offender' unleashes nearly half a billion salmonella-tainted eggs
Tom Philpott
Thu, 19 Aug 2010 18:39 CDT
As a jaded observer of the livestock industry, I just sighed when I learned the scale of the current salmonella-tainted egg recall: 380 million eggs, distributed under 10 different brands in 17 different states, all from a single producer - Iowa-based Wright County Farms. Another day, another industrial-ag gaffe imperiling the health of millions.
"Jack DeCoster is one of the most reviled names in industrial agriculture."...The outrage is that regulatory authorities at both the state and national levels have allowed him to continue hiring workers and producing food as violations piled up.

Pay Up: Got a blog that makes no money? The city wants $300, thank you very much.

So even if your blog collects a handful of hits a day, as long as there's the potential for it to be lucrative — and, as Mandale points out, most hosting sites set aside space for bloggers to sell advertising — the city thinks you should cut it a check. According to Andrea Mannino of the Philadelphia Department of Revenue, in fact, simply choosing the option to make money from ads — regardless of how much or little money is actually generated — qualifies a blog as a business. The same rules apply to freelance writers. As former City Paper news editor Doron Taussig once lamented [Slant, "Taxed Out," April 28, 2005], the city considers freelancers — which both Bess and Barry are, in addition to their blog work — "businesses," and requires them to pay for a license and pay taxes on their profits, on top of their state and federal taxes.

Obama’s Delusions: The Economy and Iraq

Contrary to his recent statements, Obama has not improved the economy. He has overseen a catastrophic destruction of jobs on a state-by-state basis, in part due to state budget crises and the pathetic lack of response on the national level: Obama’s first stimulus was under-funded and misdirected (too much emphasis on tax cuts for businesses, etc.), while Obama’s recent “stimulus”— only $26 billion — is simply farce.

When it comes to the Iraq war, Obama is equally off kilter. He recently announced the end of “combat operations” in Iraq, which we are meant to interpret as “mission accomplished.”

Globalized Business Cares Little About Left or Right

Chrystia Freeland

Here's the good news about China's emergence as the world's second largest economy -- US business has figured it out. And here's the bad news -- while US companies can go global, most US citizens can't. The result, in this age of globalization, is a growing tension between the interests of America's business leaders and the interests of much of its middle class. Indeed, the most important fault-line in American politics may not be between Democrats and Republicans, it is between those businesses and business people who are succeeding in the global economy and those who are not.

IRAN: Building a Nuclear Weapon? You’re Kidding, Right?

By Bob Nichols – Veterans Today

(San Francisco) Many people are asking if Iran can build a nuclear weapon. The answer is No, they cannot. Iran does not have the tools or material to do so. Some 40 countries would probably like to build a reactor, though, according to the IAEA, the International Atomic Energy Agency. A reactor is the first step to a nuclear weapon.

But, the President of the US, politicians in Israel and other important people say Iran “might” be able to build a weapon in a few years. So what? I might like to jump over the moon too; but, it ain’t gonna happen.

The Imam of the now infamous “ground zero mosque” is a member of the ultra elitist Council On Foreign Relations and receives financial backing from powerful globalist sources including the Rockefellers, the Carnegie Corporation and the Ford Foundation.

GRANT SMITH: The Israel Lobby Swims The Atlantic

“” — Jeffrey Goldberg’s current cover story in The Atlantic, “The Point of No Return,” achieved massive distribution across a broad spectrum of old and new media in the United States. Some observers – including Glenn Greenwald in “How Propagandists Function” – noted how well the methodology and message of Goldberg’s piece serves the Israeli government’s efforts to push U.S. military action against Iran. Gareth Porter views it as part of an overarching strategy to keep the U.S. from restoring productive relations with Iran. A huge trove of newly declassified documents subpoenaed during a Senate investigation reveals how Israel’s lobby pitched, promoted, and paid to have content placed in America’s top news magazines with overseas funding.

Brazil and Venezuela: Two Turning Point Elections this Fall

By James Petras

Two elections in Latin America this fall will have decisive importance in the direction of economic and foreign policy for the coming decade.

Venezuelan legislative elections on September 26 will determine whether President Chavez can secure the two-thirds majority needed to proceed with his democratic socialist agenda without the procedural obstructionism of an increasingly hardline Right.

Brazil the most powerful and dynamic industrial and agro-export economy in the region, faces Presidential elections on October 3rd.

In both countries, the electorate is highly polarized, though in Brazil not along a socialist-capitalist axis.

Five myths about the Iraq troop withdrawal

As of this month, the United States no longer has combat troops in Iraq.

1.Not even close. Of the roughly 50,000 American military personnel who remain in Iraq, the majority are still combat troops -- they're just named something else. The major units still in Iraq will no longer be called "brigade combat teams" and instead will be called "advisory and assistance brigades." But a rose by any other name is still a rose, and the differences in brigade structure and personnel are minimal.

Thanks to the troop "surge," Iraq is secure enough that it will not fall back into civil war as U.S. forces pull out.

2.Security in Iraq has improved enormously since the darkest days of 2005-2006, but the jury is still out on what will happen in the months and years ahead

The United States is leaving behind a broken political system.

3.If some on the right want to claim (incorrectly) that the surge stabilized Iraq to the point that civil war is impossible, their counterparts on the left try to insist (equally incorrectly) that the change in U.S. tactics and strategy in 2007-2008 had no impact on Iraq's politics whatsoever.

Iraqis want U.S. troops to stay. Or they want them leave.

4. Be very, very careful with Iraqi public opinion. Polls are rarely subtle enough to capture the complexity of Iraqi views. Typically, they show a small number of Iraqis who want the Americans out immediately at any cost, a small number who want them to stay forever and a vast majority in the middle -- determined that U.S. troops should leave, but only after a certain period of time. When Iraqis are asked how long they believe our troops are needed, their answers range from a few months to a few years, but are strongly linked to however long the respondent believes it will take Iraq's forces to be able to handle security on their own.

The war will end "on schedule."

5. Going forward, America's involvement in Iraq can (and hopefully will ) be much reduced, but the need for a U.S. presence will endure for many years. Iraq has demonstrated great potential, but at this point it is only potential. The country still holds great peril as well -- not just for Iraqis, but for our interests in one of the world's most strategically important regions.

New industry meetings over net neutrality being hosted by lobbyists

While much of the focus has been on Google and Verizon when it comes to net neutrality as of late, the Wall Street Journal has reported that lobbyists began a new set of talks among a much wider group on Wednesday.

The Information Technology Industry Council is a lobbying firm which represents dozens of companies, including Apple, AOL, Cisco, HP, Microsoft, Nokia, and RIM among others. Reports indicate Microsoft is in attendance as is Cisco. AT&T and Verizon are also involved in the negotiations, but Google is not.

No public interest groups have been invited to this round of talks, unlike the unsuccessful FCC talks. Those groups used that fact to point out that the consumer has no representation in these latest talks, making them illegitimate.

"The public does not need more time-consuming deliberations," Media Access Project senior vice president and policy director Andrew Jay Schwartzman said in a statement. "The FCC should take prompt action to assert its authority over broadband providers' network management practices, without further delay."

Without explanation, NIST statements & reports ignore and/or contradict:

e) Scores of reports of explosions in oral histories of first responders.[7]

NIST’s neglect of the very important data source of these oral histories is shocking and incomprehensible. Equally stunning is NIST’s conclusion that evidence for explosions was not found, a claim it defended later on the absurd and otherworldly justification that it did not look for that evidence.[8]

This is nothing other than the “logic of the ostrich” that refuses reality by shading its view.

It seems that we are witnessing the death of our planet right before our very eyes. The extreme weather, Gulf oil disaster and use of deadly dispersants, to decades of agrichemical and synthetic medicines leeching into water ways, and general human pollution resulting in having to now map the North Atlantic Garbage Patch (not to be confused with the Great Pacific Garbage Patch) -- has resulted in major breaches to our interdependent life system.

Here are a few recently-reported disturbing indicators that our life support system may be nearing critical condition:

A Serious Message from the Heart of America

The recent, so-called bail out and stimulus bills should really be called the National Mugging and National Shakedown Acts. They are funneling trillions of dollars from the people’s purses and pockets to accounts and financial institutions controlled by the wealthiest families and individuals on the planet. This is point blank robbery: the banks are robbing the people.
I say again: the nuclear missiles are the ultimate genocidal enforcer of this criminal economic arrangement, which is based on a global system of lifelong debt peonage designed to ensnare all humanity in economic bondage.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange accused of rape

Ms Rosander said there were two separate allegations against Mr Assange, one of rape and the other of molestation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This may be a publicity play for sympathy, to make Julian look like a victim. Frankly, given that his "leaks" describe Bin Laden as still alive, and his dismissal of the 9-11 truth movement, there is something odoriferous about Assange's whole operation, over and above the rather large amount of money he suddenly received to play with. This may just be a PR stunt to build sympathy.
