Naked man runs rings around three policemen through Italian town square while shouting 'praise to Allah'

Give me your tired, your poor and your buck naked crazies yearning to eat pasta!

A naked man shouting out 'praise to Allah' was filmed in a public square running rings around three police officers who struggle to catch him.
The 22-year-old man from Tunisia, who has not been named, was seen running in the nude around the Pratto della Valle Square in the city of Padua in the northern Veneto region of Italy.
He was spotted by a passing police patrol and amused onlookers watched as a game of cat and mouse unfolded.

Home About Antiwar.com Donate Blog US Casualties Contact Latest NewsObama Denies Advance Knowledge of Turkish Coup

Speaking at the White House today, President Obama denied unequivocally that the US had any prior knowledge of last week’s failed military coup in Turkey, calling on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to make sure everyone in Turkey knows the US wasn’t involved.

The early US reaction to the coup has raised a lot of speculation, as Secretary of State John Kerry, during the coup, issued a tepid comment just urging “stability.” The US only condemned the coup when it became clear, later that evening, that it was going to fail.

Methinks the American government doth protest too much on this issue!

Grinning Obama JOKES during statement on Munich carnage as he shifts gears to say he'll miss daughter Malia when she leaves the nest for college

As news reports of a gun massacre in Munich crossed the Atlantic Ocean on Friday, the President of the United States was cracking jokes.
Barack Obama delivered a brief update to reporters at the White House about the still-unfolding shooting rampage that left the German city on lockdown.
Eight are confirmed dead, and 10 injured.

The president was speaking to law enforcement agents at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House.

But as cameras rolled on the somber moment, Obama grinned and chuckled – and drew laughs from his audience – about his elder daughter Malia leaving the nest and heading for college.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is perfectly predictable from one of the most emotionally "tone-deaf" Presidents we have ever had.

And of course, for a man who frequently signs off on extrajudicial assassinations around the world, the tragedy of Munich meant absolutely nothing to him.

"TURKEY’S SECRET PACT WITH ISLAMIC STATE EXPOSED BY OPERATIVE BEHIND WAVE OF ISIS ATTACKS"

New evidence has emerged that the Turkish government under President Erdogan is covertly providing direct military, financial and logistical support to ISIS, even while claiming to fight the terror network.

The evidence comes in the form of testimony from an ISIS terrorist captured by Kurdish Peshmerga fighters, widely recognised as the most effective force confronting ISIS on the ground.

The testimony has been reported by two Kurdish news agencies, the Syrian-Kurdish Harwar News Agency (ANHA) based in Rojava, and the Turkish-Kurdish Ajansa Nûçeyan a Firatê (Firat News Agency or ANF News). The latter’s head office is based in Amsterdam.

Websites of both news agencies are blocked in Turkey.

Interviews with the ISIS fighter, captured by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), reveal that Turkish military and security forces are facilitating ISIS operations within Syria, as well as ISIS terrorist attacks inside Turkey.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF true, this is a very damning development.

And even if not true, my bet will be that the US government will use it as anti-Turkey propaganda.

Unfortunately, however, President Obama is in a very difficult situation.

Turkey has our 2700 troops at Incerlik, and 51 nuclear bombs; Turkey has formally demanded the extradition of Imam Gulen, a demand to which the US government has not responded, and most probably will not.

And the reason I say this is because Gulen is a CIA asset, who most probably will blab everything he knows about the CIA's presence in Turkey at the first threat of "enhanced interrogation."

Look for Gulen to become "very depressed" about the situation in his homeland, get suicided", and Fedexed back to Erdogan in a cheap metal casket.

Political assassinations have become such a norm in this country that I would not bet against it right now.

THE “DRUG WAR” IS A CRONY WAR: CORRUPT COP COMES CLEAN, 50-60 CONVICTIONS OVERTURNED, COP GOES TO JAIL AND ASKS FOR FORGIVENESS (VIDEO)

The question is fundamentally what is worse, the drugs or the drug war? It seems clear to me that the drug war is far worse.

The drug war destroys lives of innocent people. It incentivises police corruption. It incentivizes the distribution of hard drugs. It puts money into the pockets of organized crime. It often keeps people who need help from getting help. It undermines our very Constitution. The drug war is a failed and very expensive social experiment. We need to find another way.

AT LEAST 61 KILLED AFTER SUICIDE BOMBING ATTACK IN KABUL CLAIMED BY ISIS

At least 61 people were killed and 207 injured when a huge blast rocked a mass demonstration by members of the mainly Shia Hazara minority in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Saturday. The attack was claimed by terrorist group Islamic State: "Two fighters from Islamic State detonated explosive belts at a gathering of Shiites in the city of Kabul in Afghanistan," said a brief statement on the group's Amaq news agency.

A freelance journalist working for BBC Afghan said blood and body parts were everywhere, with debris strewn around.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are multiple, powerful reasons why Afghanistan has earned the title "the graveyard of empires."

The only guy who was able to hold on to it was Alexander the Great, and even through a series of elaborate alliances and marriages, that was only for 3 years.

Almost 15 years in to this US/NATO occupation, there is absolutely no military metric by which one could possibly judge this occupation as having created a "military victory."

The Afghani people are no more "pacified" than they were the day they got invaded; there is no true democracy, and neither the US nor NATO can protect the people from either the Taliban or ISIS.

The only non-brain-dead option the US government and NATO have right now, would to be to evacuate their soldiers and hired mercs as safely as is possible, and leave the country.

Then, negotiate with whatever government is left standing for the pipeline and mineral rights.

Of course, that...would be logical.

‘I was bullied, now I kill you’ - the BABY-FACED KILLER behind deadly Munich shooting

The youth blamed 'bullying' for carrying out the attack before killing himself.

In an exchange with a witness, he shouted: "Because of you I was bullied for seven years.

“And now I have to buy a gun to shoot you.”

Comments on social media also indicate bullying may have led to the attack, with one message board user claiming: “I know this f*****g guy, his name is Ali Sonboly.

“He was in my class back then, we always mobbed him. And he always told us that he would kill us.”

Munich gunman was treated for depression; ‘no evidence’ of IS link

There is “no evidence” that the suspected gunman who killed nine people in a shooting spree at a Munich shopping mall on Friday had links to the Islamic State group, local police chief Hubertus Andrae said Saturday.

Munich prosecutors said Saturday that the shooter in the attack — named in the media as 18-year-old Iranian-German national Ali Sonboly, the son of a taxi driver — had been in psychiatric care and treated for depression. The attack appears to be a “classic shooting rampage” and not terrorism, the prosecutor said. Police said investigators suspect the gunman was “deranged.”

Carson: Media Made It Sound as If I’d Called Hillary a Devil-Worshipper

Ben Carson, in Line at the Airport: The Liberal Media Made It Sound as If I’d Called Hillary a Devil-Worshipper

CLEVELAND—Right now, thousands of giddy Republicans and bedraggled journalists are making their way out of town. A little while ago, I found myself in the TSA security line behind Ben Carson, where I had the chance to ask him the question that’s been on my mind since his speech on Tuesday, when he said, apropos of Hillary Clinton, “Are we willing to elect as president somebody who has as their role model somebody who acknowledges Lucifer?” I wanted to know: What is the connection between Clinton and the devil?

Carson thought this was an unfair question. He had merely said that Clinton was influenced by someone, Saul Alinsky, who praised Lucifer. (In an epigraph to his 1971 book Rules for Radicals, Alinsky described Lucifer as “the first radical known to man.”) The liberal media, Carson said, had twisted it to suggest that he’d called Clinton a devil-worshipper.>>>

Armageddon Approaches : Paul Craig Roberts on US-NATO vs. Russia.

Americans need to wake up to the dangerous situation that Washington has created, but I doubt they will. Most wars happen without the public’s knowledge until they happen. The main function of the American left-wing is to serve as a bogyman with which to scare conservatives about the country’s loss of morals, and the main function of conservatives is to create fear and hysteria about immigrants, Muslims, and Russians. There is no sign that Congress is aware of approaching Armageddon, and the media consists of propaganda.

Yet Trump has turned the tables on the War Party: it is they who are being put on the defensive by his relentless assault, and his willingness to say what most normal people are thinking. Report: Murdoch Son 'Horrified by Potential Trump Presidency' Forced Out Roger Ailes

Roger Ailes was reportedly forced out of Fox News by Rupert Murdoch's Trump-hating son.

Gabriel Sherman, whom Slate describes as "the nation's foremost Fox News beat reporter," yesterday told Slate: "James Murdoch is, by my reporting, extremely turned off and horrified by the concept of a Trump presidency, and he sees the politics of the right-wing populism fueled by Fox News as a catalyst that allowed Trump to become the Republican nominee. He's been wanting to get Ailes out."

Gretchen Carlson's post-firing "sexual harassment" suit was the perfect excuse. Ailes, despite supporting Megyn Kelly, is said to be friends with Trump and talk to him regularly. Now, he's been forced out at Fox News by Rupert Murdoch's hyper-leftist son just some three months before the election.

“It Is Really Hard To Argue With Trump About This”: Face It, America Is In Decline

America is in decline. There are some that still attempt to deny this, but the reason why Donald Trump’s campaign slogan has so strongly resonated with the American people is because deep inside most of us realize that America is not as great as it used to be. Our economy is a mess, we are 19 trillion dollars in debt, our infrastructure is crumbling, crime is on the rise, moral decay is all around us, other countries don’t respect us as much anymore, and our nation is the most divided that it has been in decades. Anyone that believes that America is better than it has ever been in 2016 is either completely delusional or simply has not been paying attention.

Pokemon Go - A company with a questionable pedigree, sporting the next step in technology already used to destabilize and destroy countries, has wrapped its latest creation in decidedly disarming cartoon characters

With Google's cozy relationship with the US State Department amply established, and John Hanke's history with both, as well as Niantic - the developer of Pokemon Go - the general public's interest should at the very least be piqued. Though Niantic was officially "spun-off" from Google, it is difficult if not impossible to establish what connections Hanke maintains formally or informally with either of his former employers and what role this new "interactive tracking application" may play in experiments or implementations related to US domestic and/or foreign policy.

But if one's suspicion has yet to be aroused, they should consider the Niantic AR game that preceded Pokemon Go - Ingress.

It too is an interactive location-tracking application, but its premise was decidedly darker and had less potential for wider public uptake, particularly overseas.

The ‘drive’ was allegedly prepared days in advance, even with dry runs, according to street cameras and telephone conversations between Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel (MLB), the driver of the truck, and a bunch of friends, whom he also asked to supply him with weapons. The Unavoidable Fall of the American Empire

Is America getting worse or better? Is America going to be “great” again, whatever that has meant since the 1980s? But more to the point, what difference does any of it make? Let’s be honest here about the so-called future of the United States of America. Since the dawn of what humanity likes to call “civilization” (i.e. the ability of a government to rob honest people under the guise of taxation), very few governments/nations/kingdoms have survived more than a few hundred years. Now, the United States has had a pretty good run. We’ve done a lot and accomplished a lot, not the least of which is inventing the ability to destroy the entire planet.

Pentagon to No Longer Label Independent Journalists as Spies

The Pentagon removed from its manual threat of punishment for independent journalists who cover hostilities from both sides of the conflict line.

OSCOW (Sputnik) — The Pentagon revised its Law of War manual on Friday to remove threat of punishment for independent journalists who cover hostilities from both sides of the conflict line.

The update came a year after the US military faced a barrage of criticism from press organizations for labelling journalists as potential spies and saboteurs, in its first ever legal handbook released for personnel last June.

"The changes to the manual reflect the department’s concerted effort to address those concerns and clarify specific language," Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement.

Pentagon Revises Law of War Policy Treating Reporters Like Spies

The Pentagon is changing the U.S. military's manual of war after listening to criticism of the language regarding journalists, which seemed to let commanders treat reporters as spies, The Huffington Post reports.

The U.S. Department of Defense manual was released in June 2015, and quickly drew attention from The New York Times, which pointed out the guidelines on journalists and called for their repeal.

Under the 2015 version, journalists could be treated as "unprivileged belligerents," which entails fewer legal protections than those afforded to prisoners of war and combatants.

"The new language is a seismic shift for the U.S. military," said Frank Smyth, senior adviser for journalist security at the Committee to Protect Journalists. "This affirmation of journalists' right to report armed conflicts freely and from all sides is especially welcome at a time when governments, militias, and insurgent forces around the world are routinely flouting the laws of war."

Webmaster's Commentary:

"...fewer legal protections than those afforded to prisoners of war and combatants."?!?!?!

Considering how hellish the treatment of prisoners of war has been at Gitmo,
apparently saying something the Pentagon doesn't like (the truth), you, as a reporter, can therefore be indefinitely detained without due process.

When telling the truth becomes criminalized, you know that the society doing it is in deep, intense trouble.

Public have no right to know who is funding Hillary Clinton's $60 million coronation at Democratic National Convention, party says in bid for secrecy on donors

The host committee for the Democratic National Convention wants to keep its donor list under wraps until after the convention even though a state open records agency has ordered its release.

A Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee lawyer told a judge Thursday the release of fundraising records could harm the organization's last-minute efforts to seek donations and negotiate vendor contracts.

Lawyer David Pittinsky said those efforts were still ongoing even though the four-day convention starts Monday.

The host committee set out to raise about $60 million from private sources, but secured a $15 million line of credit from the city as a safety net. The committee must therefore file financial updates with the city.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Trumped - A Nation On The Brink Of Ruin... And How To Bring It Back

America’s faltering economy has been made in Washington DC, not at the illegal crossing routes on the Arizona border or the containership berths at Long Beach. For more than three decades the nation’s central banks have flooded the US and world economies with too much free money and Washington politicians have accommodated the beltway lobbyists and racketeers and the country’s huge entitlement constituencies with too much free boot.

So the real disease is bad money and towering debts. The actual culprits are the Wall Street/Washington policy elites who have embraced statist solutions which aggrandize their own power and wealth.

That much, at least, Donald Trump has right. Throwing-out the careerists, pettifoggers, hypocrites, ideologues, racketeers, power-seekers and snobs who have brought about the current ruin is at least a start in the right direction.

The Crisis in Turkey Could Swallow Us All. Is America behind the Coup?

Erdogan has said he did not want to link the delivery of Gulen to Turkish justice with the continued cooperation between the U.S. and Turkey in using the Incirlik air base – thereby linking the two. Incirlik is a Turkish base with a strong NATO presence (including some 2,700 Americans). The previous Turkish commander of the base is now under arrest for his role in the coup, including sending up F-16s and refueling tankers from Incirlik. Erdogan might well ask: what did the Americans there know, and when did they know it? Incirlik is important in the war on ISIS as the base from which most air attacks on ISIS originate. Responding to the coup, the Turkish government cut power to Incirlik and imposed a no-fly zone, shutting it down. That sealed-off condition continued through July 20, with no one allowed to leave or enter the base, although air attacks on ISIS have reportedly resumed.

ISIS TERRORJUL 21 2016, 11:59 AM ETISIS Trying to Topple Saudi King with Attack on Mohammed's Mosque

Current and former U.S. officials say a recent ISIS attack on the tomb of Mohammed in Saudi Arabia -- Islam's second holiest site -- shows the terror group is now directly challenging the kingdom's ruling family and trying to topple the monarchy.

"The Saudi king's tiles include 'Protector of the two Holy Cities," said one senior U.S. counterterrorism official. "The message of the attack is that that protection doesn't exist."

The kingdom's two holy cities, Mecca and Medina, are home Islam's two holiest sites, the Qabba in Mecca, which millions of pilgrims visit every year, and the Mosque of the Prophet in Medina, which holds Mohammed's tomb.

Said the counterterrorism official, "If [the royal family] can't protect those places -- and people traveling to those cities from across Islam - it calls in to question the fitness of their ruling power and its legitimacy."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, I would want to have an immediate chat with US Ambassador Westphal as to what the hell American trained and supported ISIS was doing in Saudi Arabia.

Tulsa County Sheriff's Department officials left a paralyzed inmate lying on the floor for 5 days before he died in his cell

After more than five days on the concrete floor of Medical Cell #1, Elliott Williams died naked, cold and alone, unable to move.
Hungry and thirsty, Williams screamed for help but couldn’t convince anyone at the David L. Moss Detention Center to help him.
Detention officers at the Tulsa Jail tossed three styrofoam trays of jail food at his feet, but Williams could not retrieve them. Though Williams begged for something to drink, he couldn’t pick up the styrofoam cups of water they placed near him.

Atlanta mayor rejects demand to end Israel police training

“There was a demand that I stop allowing the Atlanta Police Department to train with the Israeli police department,” Mayor Reed acknowledged at a press conference (video above). “I’m not going to do that,” he told reporters.

“I happen to believe that the Israeli police department has some of the best counterterrorism techniques in the world,” Reed insisted. “And it benefits our police department from that longstanding relationship.”

It was an interesting choice of words considering that Israeli, Palestinian and international human rights organizations, as well as the UN, have repeatedly condemned Israeli forces, including the police, for a range of human rights violations, particularly for their frequent extrajudicial executions of Palestinians.

It was also recently revealed that Israeli police are authorized to use lethal force as a first resort against Palestinians they suspect might throw rocks, including minors.

B’Tselem: 63% of casualties in 2014 war were civilians

Two years after Operation Protective Edge, a B’Tselem report said 1,394, or 63 percent, of the 2,202 Palestinians killed by the IDF did not take part in the conflict.

This is lower than the figure cited by the United Nations and other NGOs of 70% but is still higher than Israeli intelligence estimates of 50%. Sixty-six soldiers and seven civilians were killed on the Israeli side.

The data gathered by B’Tselem, and released on Wednesday, was collected from field researchers in Gaza, cross-referenced with publicly available data.

This report is the first time B’Tselem has collected data on the war. Prior to this all casualty numbers were based on outside figures.

According to B’Tselem spokeswoman Sarit Michaeli the purpose of the report is to inform the Israeli public of the war’s high death toll.

“Our main goal is to enable the Israeli public to be informed,” she said.

Turkish Parliament Grants Erdogan Sweeping New Powers for State of Emergency

In a 346-115 vote, the Turkish parliament has approved a three month state of emergency across Turkey, the first time such a state will be applied over the entire nation. The vote grants sweeping new powers to President Erdogan, who had already centralized an unprecedented level of power before the failed coup.

The new powers aim to facilitate the expansion of the ongoing purge against broad swathes of Turkish society, allowing longer detention for suspects without charges, and for Erdogan to effectively rule by decree on several issues, without parliament approval.

Beyond that, the state of emergency allows the government to effectively ignore human rights law entirely, with the constitution only limiting them to the extent that there are limits in place from international treaties. Turkey’s withdrawal from the European Commission on Human Rights today suggests that they are planning to pare down such limits.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I a foreign national doing business in Turkey, I would cut my losses, and get the heck out of Dodge immediately, if not sooner.

This will not end well.

There is a great tyrannical darkness descending over this nation, and Attaturk, the founder of modern-day religiously-neutral Turkey, is most probably rolling over in his grave, at warp speed.

America's broken digital copyright law is about to be challenged in court - The Electronic Frontier Foundation is suing the US government over ‘unconstitutional’ use of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) filed a lawsuit on Thursday that American copyright wonks, technologists and security researchers have been hotly awaiting for nearly 20 years.

If they succeed, one of America’s most controversial technology laws will be struck down, and countries all over the world who have been pressured by the US trade representative to adopt this American rule will have to figure out whether they’ll still enforce it, even after the US has given up on it.

Top Clinton Lobbyist Bundlers Tied to Foreign Banks, Governments

A number of Hillary Clinton’s top lobbyist bundlers, who have raised millions for her presidential campaign, either directly represent foreign entities or work at firms that represent foreign entities, according to documents from the Justice Department’s Foreign Agents Registration Unit.

Hillary for America, Clinton’s campaign committee, has hauled in more than $7 million in bundled lobbyist contributions since its inception. The committee finished 2015 with $4.1 million in bundled lobbyist contributions. It has since added more than $2.9 million to its coffers from lobbyists, with $1.2 million of that amount pouring in during the second quarter of 2016, from April 1 to June 30.

Tony Podesta, owner of the Podesta Group and brother of John Podesta, the chairman of Clinton’s campaign, is a top bundler for Hillary for America. Podesta has bundled $267,835 in contributions to date. Podesta was hired to work on behalf of Saudi interests.

Miami cop shot caregiver while trying to protect him from autistic man with toy truck: police union

North Miami police offered a weird excuse for the officer who shot and wounded a black, unarmed hospital caregiver tending to an autistic man.

The head of the Florida city’s police union said the officer, whose name still has not been released, actually meant to shoot the autistic man playing in the street with a toy truck, reported the Miami Herald.

John Rivera, head of Miami-Dade’s Police Benevolent Association, said the officer was actually trying to protect the caregiver, Charles Kinsey, from his autistic patient by firing three shots from a military-style rifle.

But he apparently missed and shot Kinsey instead.

Video showing most of the encounter has been released, and the shooting has gained international attention.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The intensity of police brutality borders on insane right now in this country.

Instead of being trained to calm down, or walk back from, an allegedly volatile situation, it appears that US police believe they can shoot to kill, and get away with it with absolutely impunity.

HIGHWAY BLUETOOTH DETECTORS ARE SPYING ON MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS

DHS, the Dept., of Transportation and probably the DEA are using Bluetooth detectors to spy on motorists and pedestrians.

Government agencies like DHS and the DEA use Bluetooth detectors to gather Bluetooth data from a Wireless Sensor Network.
Wireless technology that allows electronic devices to communicate directly with one another
Recently emerged as viable travel time collection technology
Open standard, allows for off-the-shelf equipment
Detection range limited to about 328 feet (100 meters)
Less expensive than many other options
Flexible installation
Some potential privacy concerns
Detection technology relies on drivers' use of Bluetooth-enabled devices
“The whole country is doing this,” Paul Misticawi, vice president of public sector sales for traffic data software company.

Bluetooth detectors will soon be able to identify everyone

Webmaster's Commentary:

These are the acts of a government terrified of their own people.

And in terms of surveilling ME?!?

The question would be, why the heck?!?

I'm a Christian pacifist activist, and the choral director of a small local church choir; what "threat level", please, do I present to this government?!?

The logical, short answer would be, zero.

But because I post to this blog, and work through information as logically and intelligently as I can, under the NDAA, I can be imprisoned indefinitely without due process whatsoever.

And as Shakespeare said, "Aye, there's the rub."

When logic itself becomes criminalized, the society in which this is happening is in deep kim chee. (Here in the Islands, that's literally a sour cabbage dish, but it means being in deep trouble.)

And folks, this is already starting to happen in this country.
