U.S. quietly starts channeling arms from $1.6 billion fund to Iraq

The United States has quietly started delivering promised arms for Iraqi soldiers from a $1.6 billion fund approved by Congress last year, officials said, following mounting Iraqi frustration over the pace of coalition assistance. The Pentagon said long-awaited equipment from the Iraq Train and Equip Fund (ITEF) started being fielded about two weeks ago and was moving as fast as possible. Officials noted extensive, previous arms transfers under different U.S. authorities.

VIDEO: Utah cop executes unarmed man who was listening to headphones, gets away with it

Dillon Taylor was murdered by Officer Bron Cruz outside of a Salt Lake City convenience store on August 11, 2014; he was unarmed and wearing headphones and minding his own business. Officer Cruz was acquitted of any wrongdoing on Oct 1, 2014. The DA who cleared him said "Taylor's shooting was justified not because he posed an actual threat, but because (Officer) Cruz reasonably perceived a threat."

ARMS COMPANIES ARE MAKING MONEY BY TAKING OVER UK SCHOOLS

Europe’s largest arms manufacturer, BAE Systems, has applied to sponsor the failing Furness Academy. The reason is profit. Corporations have already established a growing foothold in many UK schools, but the idea of Europe’s biggest arms company running a school still seems like something out of an Orwellian nightmare.

GREEK BANKS ON VERGE OF TOTAL COLLAPSE: BANK RUN SURGES "MASSIVELY" AS DEPOSITORS YANK €700 MILLION TODAY ALONE

While the Greek government believes it may have won the battle, if not the war with Europe, the reality is that every additional day in which Athens does not have a funding backstop, be it the ECB (or the BRIC bank), is a day which brings the local banking system to total collapse. As a reminder, Greek banks already depends on the ECB for some €80.7 billion in Emergency Liquidity Assistance which was about 60% of total deposits in the Greek financial system as of April 30. In other words, they are woefully insolvent and only the day to day generosity of the ECB prevents a roughly 40% forced "bail in" deposit haircut a la Cyprus.

Snowden: “The Balance of Power Is Beginning to Shift”

Snowden’s commentary noted that privacy advocates still have work ahead of them given the fact that the newly-signed USA FREEDOM Act essentially compels corporations to sweep up Americans’ phone records on behalf of the government. “Some of the world’s most popular online services have been enlisted as partners in the NSA’s mass surveillance programs, and technology companies are being pressured by governments around the world to work against their customers rather than for them. Billions of cellphone location records are still being intercepted without regard for the guilt or innocence of those affected. We have learned that our government intentionally weakens the fundamental security of the Internet with ‘back doors’ that transform private lives into open books.

A Government That Ignores Its Own Laws Is NOT a GOVERNMENT!

This missive was written by a little-known liberty organization back in November 2012... it's more relevant today than ever.

It is absolutely true that the Founding Fathers gave us a system of government that should have protected our nation from the excesses of any single president. However, the checks and balances, balance of powers, and other limitations enshrined in the Constitution, have all been ignored by our current government. Those checks and balances disappeared as soon as those in power realized that they could ignore the law and no one would do anything about it...

A government that ignores its own laws is NOT A GOVERNMENT!!!

It’s just a bunch of bullies asserting the power through coercion and threats. Our government now ignores its own laws.

UPDATE 5-Fracking not a 'widespread risk' to drinking water -U.S. EPA

Fracking for shale oil and gas has not led to widespread pollution of drinking water, a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency draft report said on Thursday, although it warned some drilling activities could potentially cause health risks.

The study, requested by Congress and five years in the making, said fracking could contaminate drinking water under certain conditions, such as when fluids used in the process leaked into the water table.

The EPA said it found isolated cases of water contamination, but "the number of identified cases ... was small compared to the number of hydraulically fractured wells.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am sure that executives of oil companies which do the fracking, and contribute mightily to both parties, in this country, are doing their happy dance right now.

Of course, I am an individual who firmly believes that all state and national representatives who approve of fracking must be compelled to live right over land where the fracking is done, and see what fun it is to find your health compromised by this activity, even for infants in the womb.

As reported at Web MD.com:

Living close to a high number of "fracked" natural gas wells may be linked to an increased risk of having a lower birth weight baby, according to a new study of Pennsylvania birth rates. High-volume hydraulic fracturing -- also known as "fracking" -- allows access to large amounts of natural gas trapped in shale deposits. Natural gas wells using this method are increasingly common in the United States. For example, the number of these types of wells in Pennsylvania's Marcellus Shale rose from 44 in 2007 to more than 2,800 in 2010, the researchers pointed out. In this study, University of Pittsburgh researchers analyzed the birth records of more than 15,400 babies born in Pennsylvania's Washington, Westmoreland and Butler counties between 2007 and 2010. Women who lived close to a high number of natural gas fracking sites were 34 percent more likely to have babies who were "small for gestational age" than mothers who did not live close to a large number of such wells, the study found. Small for gestational age means a baby is smaller than normal based on the number of weeks the baby has been in the womb, according to the March of Dimes. The findings held true even after the researchers accounted for numerous factors that could affect a newborn's weight, including whether a mother smoked, her race, age, education, prenatal care and whether she'd had previous children, as well as the baby's gender. The study, published online June 3 in the journal PLOS One, does not prove that living close to a high concentration of natural gas fracking sites caused lower birth weights, but does show the need for further investigation, the researchers said. "Our work is a first for our region and supports previous research linking unconventional gas development and adverse health outcomes," study co-author Bruce Pitt, chair of the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health's Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, said in a university news release. "These findings cannot be ignored. There is a clear need for studies in larger populations with better estimates of exposure and more in-depth medical records," he added. Fracking produces waste fluids, along with air and noise pollution. "Developing fetuses are particularly sensitive to the effects of environmental pollutants. We know that fine particulate air pollution, exposure to heavy metals and benzene, and maternal stress all are associated with lower birth weight," Pitt said.

But, of course, to the politicians who get paid off to look the other way, and the oil companies making huge profits from this process, these babies and their families are simply "collateral damage".

LAND OF THE UNFREE – POLICE AND PROSECUTORS FIGHT AGGRESSIVELY TO RETAIN BARBARIC RIGHT OF “CIVIL ASSET FORFEITURE”

In a nutshell, civil forfeiture is the practice of confiscating items from people, ranging from cash, cars, even homes based on no criminal conviction or charges, merely suspicion. This practice first became widespread for use against pirates, as a way to take possession of contraband goods despite the fact that the ships’ owners in many cases were located thousands of miles away and couldn’t easily be prosecuted. As is often the case, what starts out reasonable becomes a gigantic organized crime ring of criminality, particularly in a society where the rule of law no longer exists for the “elite,” yet anything goes when it comes to pillaging the average citizen.

FEDERAL JUDGE ORDERS INVESTIGATION OF ACCUSATIONS THAT PENTAGON INSPECTOR GENERAL DESTROYED DOCUMENTS IN WHISTLEBLOWER CASE

A federal judge is probing whether the Department of Defense’s inspector general (IG) destroyed documents related to the case of Thomas Drake, a former National Security Agency official turned whistleblower.

Drake endured retaliation from the government and prosecution from the Obama administration for cooperating with other whistleblowers starting a dozen years ago regarding NSA surveillance programs. The Department of Justice tried to convict Drake of violating espionage laws while acting as a whistleblower, but the case fell apart and prosecutors had to settle for getting Drake to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The absolute, wanton corruption, at the highest levels of this government no longer shock me; it has become the absolute norm for this administration.

TSA has no excuse to continue the groping

Last August, Transportation Security Administration chief John Pistole attacked an article I wrote, stating that it was "Misleading, inaccurate and unfairly disparages the dedicated (TSA) workforce. … We will not sit back and allow misinformation and conjecture to malign our employees."

Pistole resigned last December — in time to miss the uproar this week about TSA agents failing to detect 95% of the weapons and bombs smuggled past them by Inspector General testers. While Pistole is leading the PR pushback to absolve his former agency, the I.G. report is the latest confirmation that TSA continues blindly blundering and pointlessly abusing Americans' rights and privacy.

Shortly after TSA was created in late 2001, one of its early mottoes was "Dominate. Intimidate. Control." From the start, the TSA put more focus on browbeating hapless travelers than intelligently focusing on actual aviation hazards.

TPP Begins to Unravel as Obama Launches Final Push For Votes

The Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade package is beginning to unravel, with more prominent voices slamming President Obama and the Republican leadership over the secretive deal that threatens to cost American jobs and hand big corporations new powers that would violate national sovereignty.

House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Rules Committee chairman Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) refused to reveal to Breitbart whether they had read the TPP agreement but still said they would support the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and allow President Barack Obama to fast-track the TPP.

Why armed drug cops took ‘every belonging’ from a Michigan soccer mom

Annette Shattuck wasn't home when the masked men entered her house and ransacked it. But her 56-year-old mother was, clipping coupons and watching over Annette's four children under the age of 10, Shattuck recalled last week before the Michigan House of Representatives.

"After they breached my door, at gunpoint, with masks," she said, repeating what her family told her, "they proceeded to take every belonging in my house. And when I say every belonging, I mean every belonging." That included, she said, her husband's tools, the lawnmower and a bicycle. They took credit card statements, tax returns, and the public assistance card Shattuck used to help feed her family. They even took $90 worth of birthday money out of her daughter's "pink bedroom," as it's listed in a summary of seized property compiled by the police.

It’s official: the USA FREEDOM Act is just a destructive as the USA PATRIOT Act

Secret FISA courts still exist. Lone wolf surveillance authority and roving wiretaps still exist. They can still grab oodles of other data like medical and business records.

And the US Attorney General has even been awarded new ’emergency powers’ to use in his/her sole discretion… just in case the secret courts might be uncooperative.

The big victory being cheered by the media pertains to the collection of phone records. This one is actually hilarious.

The USA FREEDOM Act prevents the government from seizing and storing ‘call detail records’, the so-called meta-data information like your phone number, the other caller’s phone number, the length of the call, etc.

But section 107(k)(3)(B) of the new law specifically states that ‘call detail records’ do NOT include the *actual content* of the call itself. Or your name. Address. Financial data. Cell-site location. Etc.

So basically they can’t archive your phone number. But everything else is fair game.

Ex-intel officials: Pentagon report proves US complicity in ISIS

According to leading American and British intelligence experts, a declassified Pentagon report confirms that the West accelerated support to extremist rebels in Syria, despite knowing full well the strategy would pave the way for the emergence of the ‘Islamic State’ (ISIS).

The experts who have spoken out include renowned government whistleblowers such as the Pentagon’s Daniel Ellsberg, the NSA’s Thomas Drake, and the FBI’s Coleen Rowley, among others.

Their remarks demonstrate the fraudulent nature of claims by two other former officials, the CIA’s Michael Morell and the NSA’s John Schindler, both of whom attempt to absolve the Obama administration of responsibility for the policy failures exposed by the DIA documents.

Secret Surveillance Agency More Powerful Than the NSA

The National Security Agency (NSA) may have been forced to take a stutter step in its surveillance program (or resort to methods not made public) earlier this week regarding the collecton of metadata under the PATRIOT Act, but there is another agency that is more secretive, more invasive, and has more information on you than could be gathered from your metadata.

Gawker’s Phase Zero reports on the scope of this shadow agency’s surveillance:

If you have a telephone number that has ever been called by an inmate in a federal prison, registered a change of address with the Postal Service, rented a car from Avis, used a corporate or Sears credit card, applied for nonprofit status with the IRS, or obtained non-driver’s legal identification from a private company, they have you on file.

Special Report: Website “The Counted” Tracks Police Shootings of Americans

You wouldn’t think a country like the United States, that is supposedly the most free and prosperous country in the world, because of its freedom, would need to have a website to track police shootings. The Counted is a huge database with records of Americans killed by police (by year), and offers you the ability to report, or give a tip of a recent shooting you may know about.

When the official history of the realm is one day written, it may contain several chapters that establish President Barack Obama as a great flag-bearer of liberty, free trade, and economic recovery. Police Killings At An All-Time High

A major investigative report by the Washington Post tells a chilling story: police killings nationwide are on a pace to eclipse 1,000 by year's end. That's more than double the national average in recent years. Even more disturbing is the fact that police shootings are largely underreported. Mind you, these statistics do not include police-inflicted deaths by means other than police bullets, such as stun guns and people in police custody.

The report states, "'These shootings are grossly underreported,' said Jim Bueermann, a former police chief and president of the Washington-based Police Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving law enforcement. 'We are never going to reduce the number of police shootings if we don't begin to accurately track this information.'"

"And in a high-rise apartment in Birmingham, Ala., police shot an elderly man after his son asked them to make sure he was okay. Douglas Harris, 77, answered the door with a gun."

Leaked TISA Documents Reveal Privacy Threat

Under the draft provisions of the latest trade deal to be leaked by Wikileaks, countries could be barred from trying to control where their citizens’ personal data is held or whether it’s accessible from outside the country.

Wikileaks has released 17 documents relating to the Trade in Services Agreement (TISA), currently under negotiation between the US, the European Union and 23 other nations. These negotiating texts are supposed to remain secret for five years after TISA is finalized and brought into force.

The deal, which has been under discussion behind closed doors since early 2013, is intended to remove barriers to trade in services. It’s a sort of companion piece to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which cover trade in goods – but potentially far bigger, with Wikileaks claiming that ‘services’ now account for nearly 80 per cent of the US and EU economies.

2016: Rubio, Graham Refuse to Answer Whether They Read Obamatrade Before Voting on It

Only two GOP presidential candidates currently in the U.S. Senate publicly admit to have read the Obamatrade agreement prior to voting on it: Sens. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)

Star Wars fan? Lucas wrote this ‘false flag’-terrorism-war story about America devolving to dictatorship

*hyperlinks/video live at source*

“How do democracies get turned into dictatorships? The democracies aren’t overthrown; they’re given away... Star Wars was really about the Vietnam War.” - George Lucas, creator of Star Wars

“The (Star Wars) Empire is like America ten years from now.” - George Lucas, 1973

Adjusted for inflation, Star Wars is likely the most popular film series in history. Stories are popular because they communicate themes that resonate with the public. Creator George Lucas communicates that a powerful republic is overcome by false flag deception that devolves all into the most evil dictatorial empire possible.

“Dictatorship” literally means a government from what is dictated/said whenever government “leadership” says so. The US has lost almost all Constitutional rights to the dictates of “leaders” in government. In contrast, a constitutional republic is limited government acting within its constitution.

“Mrs. Mosby is the one who did an announcement discussing what she said the evidence was in a nationally televised speech, and now that it is time to turn over the evidence, to ask for a protective order is beyond disingenuous,” Bates told the Sun. “It’s as if she wants to do everything to make sure our clients do not get a fair trial.”

“Nobody would know anything but the state and the defense, so they would totally hide it from the public,” he added. “If your case is as good as you said it was, why don’t you just show the evidence?”

USA Freedom and Obama's Doublespeak

Almost everything the president says about the USA Freedom Act is false. He does not at all "welcome" the law's passage. If Obama had his way, Congress would have never even considered this law because the National Security Agency's illegal activities would still be secret.

The only reason any of this is happening is that Edward Snowden spilled the NSA beans. If the president truly welcomes surveillance reform, then he should thank Snowden instead of charging him with crimes against the state.

The president's claim to have himself called for reforms is laughable. His own Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technologies, convened after the Snowden leaks, gave him 46 specific recommendations in its January 2014 report. To date, he has implemented exactly zero of them.

Back from the dead: US officials to ask secret court to revive NSA surveillance

The Obama administration intends to use part of a law banning the bulk collection of US phone records to temporarily restart the bulk collection of US phone records.

US officials confirmed to the Guardian that in the coming days they will ask a secret surveillance court to revive the program – deemed illegal by a federal appeals court – all in the name of “transitioning” the domestic surveillance effort to the telephone companies that generate the so-called “call detail records” the government seeks to access.

The unconventional and unexpected legal circumstance depends on a section of the USA Freedom Act, which Obama signed into law on Tuesday, that provides a six-month grace period to prepare the surveillance and legal bureaucracies for a world in which the National Security Agency is no longer the repository of bulk US phone metadata.

‘Ban Snowden’s name’: Terror trial prosecution fears anti-surveillance jury bias

US prosecutors are trying to ban any mention of whistleblower Edward Snowden in the case of 21-year-old Adel Daoud, a Chicago terror suspect – fearing the jurors may disregard the evidence because of the way it was collected.

Daoud, a US citizen of Egyptian origin, was arrested in September 2012 during an FBI sting operation. According to the federal prosecutors, he was contacted by undercover FBI agents posing as terrorists in May that year, and discussed a plot to kill a large number of Americans by setting off a bomb at a Chicago bar. The man pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

A court of appeals last year denied the man's defense team to study Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court records on Daoud although the lawyers said they were required to get ready for the trial. According to the defense, the teenager was targeted by an FBI-orchestrated sting because of computer searches related to a term paper, which contained Osama bin Laden’s name.

Elements of the Coulibaly affair recall the role of the French services in 1999

One thing led to another, and I arrived at three major conclusions :

- The Front National was as creation of the Gaullists, aimed at stabilising the different groups who were excluded from national political life (as the losers of the Second World War, and losers of decolonisation) and re-inserting them into the political arena.

- From its creation, the FN was piloted by the secret services under the vigilant eye of the Elysée.

Doubts Still Plague the 31-Year-Old Lester Bower Case But Texas is About to Kill Him Anyway

Bower maintains his innocence. He has alleged his defense at trial was deficient, and that prosecutors withheld critical evidence from his attorneys. Moreover, since his conviction, witnesses have come forward to say that they know who really killed the four men in the aircraft hangar at the B&B Ranch — and it wasn’t Les Bower. Although the issues raised by Bower’s case are significant, and questions about his guilt linger, the case has nonetheless escaped wider scrutiny.

Lester Bower’s story is everything that’s wrong with the death penalty

Barring last-minute interference from the U.S. Supreme Court, Lester Bower will soon be dead. And as Jordan Smith at the Intercept reports, that would be a travesty of justice. His story is everything that’s wrong with the death penalty in America.

Bower is one of the country’s longest-serving death row inmates. He was sentenced in 1984. He’s now 67 years old. There is still significant doubt about Bower’s guilt, including evidence that was suppressed at his trial. But in the three decades Bower has lived on death row, the court system hasn’t been processing the new exculpatory evidence. Rather, the court fights have been over whether it should even be considered. And they’ve decided that it shouldn’t.

Ron Paul: Before Applauding Freedom Act, Address “CIA Secret Government Far Above the Law”

SHTFplan.com

The passage of the USA FREEDOM Act and the expiration of parts of the PATRIOT Act are being hailed as monumental steps in ending unwarranted surveillance, but – signed into law by President Obama – it is largely a weak half measure aimed at giving the appearance of restored trust in government:

Former presidential candidate Ron Paul notes: before Americans applaud a minor step toward transparency, they should recognize the corrosive nature of the CIA, a secret government operating far above the law.

“They are a secret government,” Paul says of the CIA. “Way out of control.”

Secret Aerial FBI Program Uncovered By 23-Year-Old Journalist

The FBI has admitted to flying secret surveillance flights over American cities in recent weeks.

The FBI is now acknowledging that they are the ones gathering the surveillance and that everything being gathered is for ongoing investigations. Richards isn’t so sure about that, and he is working on a follow-up story.

“I have been getting a lot of email and messages on Twitter and elsewhere from people who are interested,” he said.

The FBI isn’t saying which investigations this plane’s surveillance is linked to or what kind of data it’s collecting.

The agency admits the planes can be equipped to identify thousands of people on the ground through their cell phones, even if they’re indoors.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The first thing that comes to mind is a test of a system to locate someone via their cell phone even if the cell phone network has been shut off during an uprising!

So, if you are doing something the government doesn't like, and the phones are not working anyway, duct tape the phone to a stray dog!

Idiotic CIA Director says debating mass surveillance aids terrorism

Whether or not it’s disclosures of classified information, or whether it’s changes in the law and policies, they’re looking for the seams to operate within,” he added. “This is something that we can’t afford to deal with right now, because if you look at the horrific terrorist attacks and violence that’s being perpetrated around the globe, we need to keep our country safe.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Given that the spying hasn't actually cracked any cases (FBI and DOJ) and TSA hasn't yet found a terrorist, please explain h9ow a debate on said unconstitutional actions helps terrorism? One more thing. The recent test of TSA showed 95% of the bombs and guns got through. With a high failure rate like that, there is only one explanation for why there hasn't been a terrorist attack; there are no real terrorists, only the phonies created by the government to scare us all into pouring our money and our children's blood into the war machine.

How The USA Freedom Act is Actually Reducing Freedom in America

The USA Freedom Act successfully passed in the U.S. Senate with a final vote of 67-32. This was preceded by a tumultuous weekend of Rand Paul throwing sticks into the wheels of other senators willing to renew an un-amended version of the original Patriot Act, which allegedly was the only document allowing for the NSA and other federal agencies to perform mass-surveillance on millions of unsuspecting Americans.

The Ultimate Call: Will Federal Reserve Be Caught Without Gold in ‘Repatriation Rush’?

Gold accumulation is happening at a very astounding rate – and the repatriation of gold by foreign nations, and now states, is setting a tense deadline for the most massive currency war ever seen on a global scale.

A game of musical chairs has begun, and someone will be left standing when the music stops.

Texas has just taken it up a notch, with a high profile move to keep its gold holdings at home for safe keeping and strong collateral.

Senator: Use RICO Laws to Prosecute Global Warming Skeptics

That's right -- a sitting U.S. Senator is suggesting using RICO laws should be applied to global warming skeptics. Courts have been defining RICO down for some time and in ways that aren't particularly helpful. In 1994, the Supreme Court ruled RICO statutes could be applied to pro-life activists on the grounds that interstate commerce can be affected even when the organization being targeted doesn't have economic motives.

Obviously, there's a lot of money hanging in the balance with regard to energy policy. But when does coordinating "a wide range of activities, including political lobbying, contributions to political candidates, and a large number of communication and media efforts" go from basic First Amendment expression to racketeering?

Never Mind FIFA, How about a Crackdown on the Banksters?

FIFA boss Sepp Blatter’s sudden resignation this week only days after being re-elected shows that the US campaign to bust the football federation over alleged financial corruption is probably going to intensify during the weeks and months ahead. Blatter had been re-elected for the fifth time last Friday as the federation’s president. He had earlier brushed off calls for his resignation from the American and British governments, amid a storm of media allegations over corruption at the World Cup organising body. Now only four days after being re-elected, the FIFA chief executive is quitting, saying somewhat cryptically that he does not have a sufficient mandate in the world of football to continue at the helm of the organisation.
