Your Government Shutdown Survival Guide

On or around October 2, the US federal government will shut down – again. The actual date could be a bit earlier or later, depending on how the government’s cash flows. Technically, the government should have shut down on March 15, 2017. That was the date that a congressionally approved temporary extension of the debt ceiling expired. So on that date, the amount of debt on the books ($19.808 trillion) became the new debt ceiling. Since then, the Treasury hasn’t been able to issue any more federal debt.

The Next Ginned-Up War of Aggression

When politicians are feeling the heat, they start a war and their popularity goes up even if the war is unnecessary or completely ridiculous. Donald Trump, the presidential candidate who promised that he would not take the nation into another Middle Eastern war, did so when he launched a fifty-nine cruise missile barrage against a Syrian Air Base even before he knew for sure what had happened on the ground. It was totally stupid but proved to be popular, even among talking heads and Congressmen, some of whom described his action as “presidential” in the best sense of the word.

California Legislature Wants to Tax Drinking Water for First Time in History

Although Senate Bill 623 is titled: “Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund,” a coalition of agricultural and environmental lobbyists convinced its author Sen. Bill Monning (D-Carmel) to amend the ground water cleanup bill that has been moving through the Legislature since February, to quietly add a water tax of 95 cents per month on every residence and business. The bill would also tack on $30 million in farm and dairy fees.

North Korea Warns "More Drills" Coming, Says Launch Was "Prelude To Containing Guam"

Just when it seemed that a full day may pass without some diplomatic fiasco between North Korea and the US sending stocks surging on rising risks of World War III, moments ago North Korea's state-run news agency KCNA issued a statement quoting Kim Jong Un, who said that "the current ballistic rocket launching drill like a real war is the first step of the military operation of the KPA in the Pacific and a meaningful prelude to containing Guam" and added the necessity to "positively push forward the work for putting the strategic force on a modern basis by conducting more ballistic rocket launching drills with the Pacific as a target in the future."

NEW SENATE BILL TARGETS WIKILEAKS, RUSSIA, INDEPENDENT PRESS, AND FIRST AMENDMENT

WITH THE RUSSIAN MEDDLING NARRATIVE SERVING AS A PRETEXT, THE U.S. SENATE, EMBRACING THE “POMPEO DOCTRINE,” IS MOVING TO STIFLE AND CRIMINALIZE WIKILEAKS AND, BY EXTENSION, ANY SUCH “DANGEROUS,” TRANSPARENCY-PROVIDING ENTITIES THAT THREATEN TO CAST DOUBT UPON WASHINGTON’S “OFFICIAL STORIES.”

The Senate Intelligence Committee is pushing Congress to label WikiLeaks a “non-state hostile intelligence service,” having adopted that very position in the Intelligence Authorization Act (IAA) it approved last month. The terminology used in the bill originates from a speech given in April by CIA director Mike Pompeo, who called the pro-transparency media organization a “non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted” by “hostile” nations.

WikiLeaks’ editor-in-chief, Julian Assange, has slammed the Senate bill as an attempt to legislate what he termed the “Pompeo doctrine.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but a logical question must be asked here; what specific, documented, and credible evidence does the US Senate Intelligence Committee have regarding Russia having allegedly tampered with the 2016 elections?!?

The short answer is: none.

And there is a second logical question which needs also to be asked: when, ever, has Wickileaks lied about any of the information it made public?!?

The short answer is, never.

This bill is not about the truth that Wickileaks has shared with the public, or alleged "Russian meddling" in the 2016 elections, which cannot, to date, be documented: it is about the degree to which Wickileaks has embarrassed those in the Bowels in Power in DC, who now want to seek the most severe retribution for Wikileaks' unwavering honesty that it possibly can.

IF this bill gets passed, any defender of free speech, or actually telling the documented truth, is fair game for massive government prosecution, including Christian pacifist activists like me, who never advocate violence, and constantly exhort their government to resolve their geopolitical disputes through hard-won, moral negotiations, rather than through war.

This bill, should it be passed, constitutes a two-front war, against both free speech and government accountability, at an unparalleled level.

To all of Rivero's Rangers out there: please call, email, text, or write to your (alleged) Senators, and tell them that if they vote this bill through, that you can never, in good conscience, vote for them ever again: it is just that simple.

US TROOPS IN SYRIA BATTLE ANTI-ASSAD REBELS ONCE FUNDED BY THE CIA

US troops in SyriaAmerican troops deployed in Syria have exchanged fire with rebels that were until recently supported by the United States Central Intelligence Agency. In 2013, soon after the outbreak of the Syrian Civil War, the then-US President Barack Obama instructed the Central Intelligence Agency to provide covert support to fighters in Syria. Acting on the president’s directive, the CIA promptly joined forces with spy agencies from Britain, France, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to assist fighters affiliated with the Free Syrian Army. At that time, Washington saw the Free Syrian Army and forces affiliated with it as ideologically moderate. It also agreed with the group’s main aim, which was to topple the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

How the Red Cross Raised Half a Billion Dollars for Haiti and Built Six Homes

In late 2011, the Red Cross launched a multimillion-dollar project to transform the desperately poor area, which was hit hard by the earthquake that struck Haiti the year before. The main focus of the project — called LAMIKA, an acronym in Creole for “A Better Life in My Neighborhood” — was building hundreds of permanent homes.

Today, not one home has been built in Campeche. Many residents live in shacks made of rusty sheet metal, without access to drinkable water, electricity or basic sanitation. When it rains, their homes flood and residents bail out mud and water.

The Red Cross received an outpouring of donations after the quake, nearly half a billion dollars.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is the reason I can never, ever donate to the Red Cross ever again, this lifetime.

Oh, and the Clintons certainly had their "hands in the till" in terms of defrauding both donors, and the Haitian people, after that earthquake, which devastated the island nation:

A federal agency rushed to approve funding for a Clinton donor’s sham Haiti recovery project that ended up defrauding the U.S. government out of millions, according to court transcripts and internal government documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. Miami businessman Claudio Osorio, who is currently serving 12 years in federal prison on fraud charges, leveraged his relationship with Bill and Hillary Clinton to help his company InnoVida obtain a $10 million loan from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) for a Haiti housing project in 2010. OPIC is an independent government agency that submits its annual budget requests through the State Department and works closely with the agency. Bill Clinton helped arrange for a high-powered Florida law firm to represent Osorio during loan negotiations with OPIC, according to court testimony. An internal OPIC memo said Hillary Clinton was prepared to marshal State Department resources to assist with the donor’s project. InnoVida was supposed to use the funding to build houses in Haiti after the earthquake, but it defaulted on the loan and the homes were never built. After InnoVida went bankrupt in 2011, a court-appointed investigator said it appeared that over $30 million of its funds had been diverted to foreign bank accounts and were not retrievable.

Typical Clintonista behaviour, nothing new here!

The Saudi-Led Coalition’s ‘Weaponization of Disease’. Yemen’s Cholera Epidemic

The vast majority of deaths from Yemen’s cholera epidemic occur in rebel-held areas on account of the attacks by the Saudi-led coalition on health centers and infrastructure and because of the coalition blockade:

Dr Homer Venters, director of programmes for the research group Physicians for Human Rights, told Al Jazeera that coalition hits on clinics and sewage works were a Saudi “tactic of war” that amounted to the “weaponisation of disease”. [bold mine-DL]

Coalition attacks and a blockade on fuel and other supplies have left civilians in Houthi areas more vulnerable to cholera, and less able to get antibiotics and other life-saving help than those in other parts of the Arab world’s poorest nation, he said.

“Aside from the devastation from air strikes on hospitals and clinics, the health emergency in Yemen has been made significantly worse by Saudi restrictions on petrol imports, leaving the remaining health centres without power,” Venters said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All the war crimes in which the US government is complicit with the Saudis in Yemen, does't make me " proud to be an American citizen" it angers and disgusts me, and makes me think seriously about getting out of this country while it is still possible. Unfortunately, Mike and I are too old- and broke - to see this happen.

And yet, both the US command there; the Saudi government, and the House of Saud all seem perfectly morally comfortable with the assassination of children, women, and the medically infirm; using starvation as a tool to cow the people of Yemen into total surrender; the use of DU weapons; and the use of white phosphorous against non-combatants.

Russia orders MASS EVACUATION over North Korea missile launch

Russian civil defence officials were reportedly ordered to shift residents in the country's far east to "safe areas" in a extraordinary move amid fears of a worldwide conflict.

North Korea angered the international community by launching a missile that flew directly over Japan.

In response, US President Donald Trump threatened the communist state with military action, warning "all options are on the table".

As Trump reeled from the provocative test, thousands of people from the city of Vladivostok were moved as part of an emergency operation.

Russia President Vladimir Putin fears the US may wage war against the secretive state after Trump threatened to unleash "fire and fury" should it fire more missiles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

US Intel Officials Resist Trump’s Push to Claim Iran ‘Violates’ Nuclear Deal

Reports out of the US intelligence community suggest that President Trump’s cabinet push to declare Iran in violation of the P5+1 nuclear deal has expanded into pressure against intelligence analysts themselves to try to invent some sort of justification for the claim Trump desperately wants to make.

At the same time, officials say that the beating the intelligence community took for its role in lying the US into war in 2003 is informing its decision on the matter, and that many are very resistant to letting their assessments become politicized.

Former CIA analyst Ned Price was very frank about the matter, saying “they told me there was a sense of revulsion. There was a sense of deja vu. There was a sense of ‘we’ve seen this movie before’.” Other officials suggested Trump made his conclusion first and is now trying to get the intelligence community to find evidence to back it up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Good on the intel people, standing their ground in this instance.

But the deeper problem, here, is this; every bit of info and intel President Trump has on Iran is coloured by the deep and unrelenting prejudices of AIPAC; the Saudis, Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu; and the Neocons, who are itching to invade Iran in order to control its oil pipelines.

But Mr. President, if I may please have word here?!?

Invading Iran, most probably on another false flag/lie, is going to greatly alienate your base, because during your campaign, you swore to the American people that you would disengage from using war as your only plausible weapon with which to resolve this country's geopolitical challenges.

Such a move would completely void that promise; and you are dealing with a VERY war-weary, war-skeptical country.

And sir, there's that added bit of Russia having promised Iran that should it be invaded, Russia will come to its aid militarily.
/strong>

Do the risk/benefit assessments on such a war, coming from the Pentagon, even mention this well-known fact?!?

And sir, war against Russia over Iran is a really, really bad decision to be making right now; and I say that both as a person who does care greatly for this country, and someone who has to blurt out what I strongly believe to be the truth: at this moment in its history, the US military does not have the troop strength; the weaponry; the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war with Russia.

I hope and pray that your trinity of "President Whisperers", consisting of Mattis, Mc Masters, and Kelly, are giving you straight answers on these issues.

Also, to accuse Iran of violating the P5+1 agreement, when the IAEA demonstrably concludes that they have not, will make this country look like the nether end of a jaysap in the eyes of the world, just to get a war going to control their pipelines, and make your BFF, Israel's Netanyahu, happy.

Of course, Tel Aviv has always been shilling for regime change in Tehran; but only if the costs are borne in American blood, and with American money.

Four Multinational Battlegroups in Baltic States 'Fully Operational' - NATO

NATO's four multinational battlegroups in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland are fully operational and represent a "defensive and proportionate deterrent force," the alliance said in a statement on Monday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — It was stated that establishment of these multinational troops was a part of the alliance's policy to boost its military presence in Eastern Europe, adopted at the 2016 Warsaw Summit.

"NATO’s four multinational battlegroups in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland are now fully operational. This milestone comes after the Canadian-led battlegroup based at Camp Adazi in Latvia became the fourth battlegroup to complete its Certification Exercise," the press release read.

According to the statement, the battlegroups in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland are led by Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States respectively.

FREEDOM FOR THE SPEECH WE HATE: THE LEGAL INS AND OUTS OF THE RIGHT TO PROTEST

“If there is any principle of the Constitution that more imperatively calls for attachment than any other, it is the principle of free thought — not free thought for those who agree with us but freedom for the thought that we hate.”— Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes

There was a time in this country, back when the British were running things, that if you spoke your mind and it ticked off the wrong people, you’d soon find yourself in jail for offending the king.

Reacting to this injustice, when it was time to write the Constitution, America’s founders argued for a Bill of Rights, of which the First Amendment protects the right to free speech. James Madison, the father of the Constitution, was very clear about the fact that he wrote the First Amendment to protect the minority against the majority.

What Madison meant by minority is “offensive speech.”

There is little new in this story. The 9/11 atrocity was the first of many terrorist attacks, each succeeded by the dramatic extension of draconian state powers at the expense of civil liberties, backed up with the projection of military force in regions identified as hotspots harbouring terrorists. Yet there is little indication that this tried and tested formula has done anything to reduce the danger. If anything, we appear to be locked into a deepening cycle of violence with no clear end in sight.

AFGHANISTAN: AMERICA'S TRILLION DOLLAR WAR

16 years since the Bush administration launched its military intervention in Afghanistan, President Trump has announced his intention to increase the U.S. military presence in the country. As Statista's Niall McCarthy notes, there are approximately 8,400 U.S. troops on the ground in Afghanistan and reinforcements could start arriving within days. Trump's new strategy is set to extend the longest war in U.S. history and add even further to its already staggering cost.

Website "The Balance" has been keeping track of Afghanistan's economic impact and the conflict has now cost the U.S. at least $1.07 trillion since 2001.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF the Taliban could evolve from a paramilitary organisation into a political one, and engage with the standing government in Kabul, that would, perhaps, be a hopeful direction; I am, however, not holding my breath quite yet, that it is actually possible right now.

HOW THE DEEP STATE TIES DOWN TRUMP

He now has been rendered “helpless”: in respect to détente with Russia — gulliverized, spitefully, by his own party, working with the Democrats, to empty Trump’s constitutional prerogatives in foreign policy – and to seize them for Congress.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I must offer a caveat that I hope and pray that I am dead wrong in the following scenarios.

However, that being said, just in case you were not aware, there has been a soft coup in the Unhinged, Surveilled States of America, and the junta now running the show are Mc Masters, Mattis, and Kelly, all former military.

Look for massive increases in wars, and the US military's commitment to them (as we are now observing in Afghanistan, with the allegedly "new serge"); against Iran; (Israel's favorite whipping post in the Middle East); more war crimes in Yemen, courtesy of collusion with the Saudis there; and against North Korea, China; and Russia.

These wars, in the larger scheme of things , will be waged to prevent the further ascendancy of the Yuan and the Ruble in international currency markets; control of rare earth elements necessary for manufacturing processes; control the oil pipelines, and insure that the oil is only sold to countries which are western-centric, and only for the US dollar.

Look for a return to the draft in this country, coming for both our young men as well as our young women; and if there is much more rioting in the streets, look for a suspension of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and the imposition of martial law.

I sincerely wish I could see a trajectory totally different from that which I have just described; but looking at the destruction and crumbling of US infrastructure, which is very much evidenced in the horrific damage caused by Harvey in Texas and Louisiana; the grinding into poverty of what used to be the American Middle Class through offshoring and outsourcing; the fragility of our financial system, coupled with strangling Federal debt, I just cannot see it right now.

The only suggestions I can offer at this point are simple, and common-sense.

Make certain you have long-term, storable food, potable water, and extra medications for yourselves, and your pets. Have a plan to meet with family, and bug out, if this is necessary.

If you have kids in school, find out what the school's policy is on releasing a child to their parents at a time which is not the regular dismissal time. IF there is a national crisis of some kind, some schools may well be locked down.

Get personal protection for yourselves and your loved ones with which you feel comfortable; because when the excrement hits the ventilation system, looters will be out in force to see what they can steal from you, again as witnessed by the flooding, and subsequent looting, in Huston over the last several days.

FORMER UTAH CONGRESSMAN SAYS WASSERMAN SCHULTZ’S “IT CONSULTANT” SCANDAL GOES WELL BEYOND BANK FRAUD (VIDEO)

Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo had former Utah representative Jason Chaffetz on her show to discuss several issues including the arrest of former DNC char, Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s “IT consultant” Imran Awan.

Chaffetz made the stunning claim that federal agents were watching Imran Awan for months before his arrest, which means that this scandal is much bigger and deeper than the bank fraud charges for which Awan is currently charged with.

The Duran reported…

Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s IT specialist could very well bring down the entire fake news Russia story that Hillary Clinton and her campaign staff put together in the run up to their election defeat to Donald Trump.

This would explain why this Pakistani “hacker”, who is now under arrest for bank fraud charges while attempting to flee the United States, has been curiously blessed with high powered Clinton attorneys.

Internal CIA Memos Expose Media As Agency's "Principal Villains", Urges "Intervention In Journalism Schools"

A series of 1984 memos from the CIA Inspector General’s (IG) office reveals some alarming views on the press and how to deal with them. Among other things, the memo shows that 33 years before the Agency declared WikiLeaks a hostile non-state intelligence service, they were viewing the general press in the same terms.

The SECRET memo began by endorsing the proposals that Page had laid out in her paper. Specifically praised among her proposed initiative was new legislation, a special FBI unit, and a special prosecutor. While it was obviously hoped that this would help enforce the law, the member of the IG staff also hoped that they would create a chilling effect. The sole criticism for Page’s paper was that it lacked a strategy for dealing with the media, who were the “principal villains” in all of this.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is chillingly interesting, and ironic, that these memos to attempt to silence the press happened in 1984.

Journalist Interrogated, Fired For Story Linking CIA And Syria Weapons Flights

A months-long investigation which tracked and exposed a massive covert weapons shipment network to terror groups in Syria via diplomatic flights originating in the Caucuses and Eastern Europe under the watch of the CIA and other intelligence agencies has resulted in the interrogation and firing of the Bulgarian journalist who first broke the story. This comes as the original report is finally breaking into mainstream international coverage.

Investigative reporter Dilyana Gaytandzhieva authored a bombshell report for Trud Newspaper, based in Sofia, Bulgaria, which found that an Azerbaijan state airline company was regularly transporting tons of weaponry to Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Turkey under diplomatic cover as part of the CIA covert program to supply anti-Assad fighters in Syria. Those weapons, Gaytandzhieva found, ended up in the hands of ISIS and al-Qaeda terrorists in Iraq and Syria.

Bay Area TV Anchor: "I Experienced Hate First Hand Today In Berkeley" From Antifa

After the media lashed out at right-wing extremists in the aftermath of the tragic violence in Charlottesville, the tide now appears to be turning against the all-black-clad "Antifa."

"My wife told me I'm going to get crucified by posting this. I told her I didn't care. This is what happened. This is what I saw. This is what I experienced. This is the truth. Period.

If people dont want to hear the truth thats not my problem. I have no agenda. Im just saying that this is what happened to me today, think about it. And make your own decision."
And judging by the 2800 comments and 10s of 1000s of 'shares', Somerville's report (below) struck more than a chord...

I experienced hate first hand today... It came from these people dressed in all black at a protest in Berkeley.

Ironically they were all chanting about NO hate.

Some had shields and gloves. Some had helmets. Some had gas masks.

YouTube "Economically Censors" Ron Paul, Labels Videos "Not Suitable" For All Advertisers

Former US Congressman Ron Paul has joined a growing list of independent political journalists and commentators who’re being economically punished by YouTube despite producing videos that routinely receive hundreds of thousands of views.

In a tweet published Saturday, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange tweeted a screenshot of Paul’s “Liberty Report” page showing that his videos had been labeled “not suitable” for all advertisers by YouTube's content arbiters.

The Structure of Power in American Society: A Military Junta is Now Ruling the United States

On election day I noted that only the military had supported The Not-Hillary President. The corporate and executive corners of the triangle had pushed for Hillary Clinton and continued to do so even after Trump had won. (Only recently did the “collusion with Russia” nonsense suddenly die down.) I wrote:

The military will demand its due beyond the three generals now in Trump’s cabinet.

That turned out to be right. A military junta is now ruling the United States:

Countdown to War on Venezuela – Step II: Trump Imposes More Sanctions

The White House statement calls Maduro a “dictator” and his Presidency “illegitimate”. Both descriptions are laughable. Maduro was elected in free and fair elections. The former U.S. president Jimmy Carter called the election system in Venezuela the best in the world. The new sanctions will likely increase the support for the current government.

The White House hinted at further economic measures:

In a call to brief reporters on the measures, the [senior Trump] official said the United States has significant influence over Venezuela’s economy but does not want to wield it in an irresponsible manner that could further burden the already-struggling Venezuelan people.

Venezuela will now have some troubling times. But unless the U.S. launches an outright military attack on the country -by proxy of its neighbors, through mercenaries or by itself- the country will easily survive the unjust onslaught.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is the kind of job for which President Trump would most likely sign off on the use of hired assassins, like Erik Prince's Academi.

US Troop deployment is stretched so thinly, that I would not imagine him placing US military resources there.

As US Empire Fails, Trump Enters a Quagmire

A quagmire is defined as a complex or unpleasant position that is difficult to escape. President Trump’s recently announced war plans in Afghanistan maintain that quagmire. They come at a time when US Empire is failing and its leadership in the world is weakening. The US will learn what other empires have learned, “Afghanistan is the graveyard of empires.”

During the presidential campaign, some became convinced that Trump would not be an interventionist president. His tweets about Afghanistan were one of the reasons. In January of 2013, he tweeted,

“Let’s get out of Afghanistan. Our troops are being killed by the Afghanis we train and we waste billions there. Nonsense! Rebuild the USA.”

Now, we see a president who carries on the interventionist tradition of US Empire.

Putin and Netanyahu: The World’s Most Powerful President Meets the World’s Most Powerful Liar

There is no doubt that Vladimir Putin is the world’s most powerful President. By comparison, while China’s Xi Jinping is highly powerful and intelligent, China’s leadership retains a collective element while in Russia, Vladimir Putin maintains an unwritten but obvious veto power over all major decisions.

By the same extrapolation it is abundantly clear that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli leader is the world’s most powerful liar. His power comes from the fact that he is in charge of the highest portion of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East, including nuclear weapons.

His dishonesty is immediately revealed by his statements about Iran. When speaking in front of the Russian President, Netanyahu said,

“…where the defeated Islamic State (Daesh) group vanishes, Iran is stepping in”.

This statement is disingenuous on many levels. First of all, Netanyahu stated to Putin that he felt that Iran is a danger and secondly, that this danger is tantamount to that of Daesh.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These are dangerous times for Israel's Prime Minister; caught in a corruption probe at home, Corruption and bribery: Netanyahu Chief of Staff Revelations and disdained by heads of state abroad, he has become geopolitically cornered, and wounded; and no one can be more vicious than a cornered, wounded politician.

Several days ago, Prime Minister Netanyahu made the following statement:

IDF will stop Iranian threat in Syria, declares Israeli defense minister

The article then goes on to say:

"Source: IDF will stop Iranian threat in Syria, declares Israeli defense minister

Israel will do what it takes to prevent an Iranian threat on its northern border, Liberman declared."

"Israel will not stand by while Iran advances in Syria and establishes itself militarily on Israel’s northern border, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman stated."

So is the Israeli government seriously looking at attacking Syria, using the excuse/justification that the presence of Iranian forces is just too large to tolerate?!?

Were I a betting woman, I would not bet against Netanyahu doing something like this, in order to deflect attention from his upcoming corruption trial.

And if that happens, what wil Russia do at that point?!?

I seriously hope that when Putin and Netanyahu met last week to discuss this, Russia issued some red lines here regarding Syria, in terms of what absolutely cannot be tolerated, in terms of an Israeli military response.

Also, if there is an American military component to Israel's plans for Syria, that could well mean war against Russia and Iran over this country.

Trump expected to lift ban on military gear to local police forces

The Trump administration Monday lifted a controversial ban on the transfer of some surplus military equipment to police departments whose battlefield-style response to rioting in a St. Louis suburb three years ago prompted a halt to the program.

The new plan takes effect immediately and fully rolls back an Obama administration executive order that blocked armored vehicles, large-caliber weapons, ammunition and other heavy equipment from being re-purposed from foreign battlefields to America's streets.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who led the campaign for the program's reinstatement, outlined the President Trump's new executive order Monday in an address at the annual meeting of the Fraternal Order of Police, the nation's largest police union.

NORTH KOREA KEEPS SAYING IT MIGHT GIVE UP ITS NUCLEAR WEAPONS — BUT MOST NEWS OUTLETS WON’T TELL YOU THAT

THE CURRENT PHASE of the decades-long U.S.-North Korea standoff began this past July 4, when North Korea launched its first genuine intercontinental ballistic missile. In a statement, North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-un called it “a gift for the American bastards.”

Meanwhile, North Korea explained that it was examining its options “for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam,” a U.S. territory. Kim later walked this peculiar provocation back, at least for the moment.

But here’s what you don’t know, unless you’re an obsessive North Korea-watcher:

Also starting on July 4, North Korea has been saying over and over again that it might put its nuclear weapons and missiles on the negotiating table if the United States would end its own threatening posture.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There was a South American Cardinal (who got assassinated) who made the powerful claim that Americans were among the most lied-to people on earth; unfortunately, the guy was absolutely right, in his assessment here.

There are many, in the US deep-state, bowels of power, in the Unhinged, Surveilled States of America, who want see such a war go forward, no matter how many millions of North and South Koreans die in the process.

This would be an invitation to a total catastrophe, should China join the fight on North Korea's side, because at this point in its history, the US military doesn't have the weaponry, the troop strength, the manufacturing, or the money to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against China.

The logical thing to do here, is to get North Korean, South Korean, US, and Chinese diplomats, working together, to craft a true peace accord for North Korea, guaranteeing unrestricted, unsanctioned trade, with the proviso that North Korea would stop its nuclear weapons program as the trade off.

But as I said earlier; that...would be logical.

Pakistan FM: Afghan Troops Sell US Arms to Taliban

While US officials continue to blame the Pakistani government for the enduring Taliban opposition to their Afghan occupation, Pakistan has been increasingly firing back regarding US missteps, and the impact those have had on the Pakistani side of the border.

So while US officials argue that the Pakistani government is providing “safe haven” for the Taliban, Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif today noted that throughout the 16-year US war, Afghan soldiers have been routinely selling US-provided arms to the Taliban.

This has been a recurring problem in the Afghan War, as the Taliban really are awash in US arms, both a product of sales from corrupt Afghan soldiers, and of Taliban looting of Afghan police checkpoints and making off with entire armories.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why am I not surprised, and I have to wonder; just what Sec-Def Mattis has in mind to prevent this in present and future deployments?!?

Without unobstructed free expression, no matter how contentious or offensive to some, all other freedoms are threatened.

On Friday, Germany shut down linksunten.indymedia.org, a disturbing pretext saying it was for “sowing hate against different opinions and representatives of the country," according to Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere, calling material on the site a “criminal offense.”

German authorities unacceptably consider the site an “association,” not a news outlet, irresponsibly circumventing constitutional protections of free expression - now banned by Merkel’s right-wing regime.

US Raid Killed Civilians, Not Militants: Somalia Army Chief

A Friday morning raid by US and Somali troops in Barire village left at least 10 civilians dead, including three children. This incident was initially reported by the deputy governor of the region, and confirmed over the weekend by Somalia’s Army Chief.

Army Chief Ahmed Jimale Gedi told reporters he was “shocked” by the incident, and attributed it to distrust on both sides. The Somali government had formally dismissed the report Friday, claiming everyone slain was al-Shabaab militants.

The government’s refusal to admit what happened is an ongoing problem, with the provincial deputy governor confirming that the families have placed the bodies of the slain in storage, and are refusing to bury them until the national government admits what happened and agrees to pay compensation.

Trump expected to lift ban on military gear to local police forces

The Trump administration is preparing to lift a controversial ban on the transfer of some surplus military equipment to police departments whose battlefield-style response to rioting in a St. Louis suburb three years ago prompted a halt to the program.

The new plan, outlined in documents obtained by USA TODAY, would roll back an Obama administration executive order that blocked armored vehicles, large-caliber weapons, ammunition and other heavy equipment from being re-purposed from foreign battlefields to America's streets.

On Monday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is scheduled to address the annual meeting of the Fraternal Order of Police, the nation's largest police union, and he may outline the program changes there.

Administration officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In looking at the lifting of this military weapons ban, it is very interesting to speculate about what the White House, Pentagon, and national police are expecting to happen in the near term in this country.

68,000 DOCTORS BRIBED BY BIG PHARMA WITH $47 MILLION TO PRESCRIBE DANGEROUS PAINKILLER DRUGS, ANALYSIS FINDS

As America grapples with alleviating the opioid addiction crisis that killed more than 30,000 people in the country in 2015, the debate rages on over the best way to tackle the issue. One aspect many people can agree on, however, is the fact that doctors are overprescribing these dangerous drugs, spurring addictions that can eventually send patients to the street to get their next high once their prescription runs out.

Why are so many doctors prescribing these pills despite the dangers? The answer is simple: money. A study out of the Boston Medical Center’s Grayken Center for Addiction Medicine that was published in the American Journal of Public Health revealed that one out of every 12 American doctors has received at least one payment from an opioid pharmaceutical company. It was the first national, wide-scale study that focused specifically on opioid-related industry payments.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I had firsthand experience with this kind of practice.

A number of years ago, I had horrific, unexplained joint pain, that made simple walking, or playing my keyboard, completely impossible.

The pain could best be described as that of walking over broken glass, but the broken glass was not on the outside, but the inside of my hands and feet.

The podiatrists who were part of my HMO prescribed a drug for my pain. But this never actually worked all that well, and the pain persisted. When I finally went to my orthopedist, who had ex-rays taken, and said that he could find no physical basis for my pain, I remember coming home in tears, and saying to Mike "How do I pencil in the time to be a hypochondriac, please?!?"

Mike, being the wonderful husband he is, started checking on the net for what on earth was the culprit for my pain, and he - unlike my medical team- found the root core of the problem; I am violently allergic to formaldehyde precursors, which, in the US, are allowed to be put into a myriad of products, because it's a cheap preservative, and, theoretically only involves the outside of your body, but should not affect the interior. So we went around the house, looking at products, like scented soaps, and low-end cosmetics, with the offending chemicals, and threw them all out.

The next morning, it was like a switch had been thrown; I could walk, and play my keyboard absolutely without pain; it felt like a miracle had happened, but not one I could attribute to my physicians.

And the one test, that could have prevented this half-decade of agony... was somehow never ordered for me, and that was a test for chemical sensitivity.

I later learned that the drug company making the (alleged) pain killer I was taking was compensating physicians who prescribed this drug; and about 5 months after that, the podiatrists who I had been seeing were no longer on the website roster of my HMO.

So now, if I need to see a physician, and there is a prescription ordered, I have absolutely no shame in looking them straight in the eye, and asking them if they get compensated for proscribing the drug they have ordered for me, and letting them know I understand that the practice is quite common, for Big Pharma.

Clients of medical practitioners should have the right to know, and the absolute right to request a change in medication, if the medication prescribed (and potentially for which your doctors were financially compensated) absolutely doesn't work for them.!!

IRS REHIRES HUNDREDS OF EMPLOYEES FIRED FOR FRAUD, THEFT, ABUSING TAXPAYER DATA

The Inspector General for Tax Administration has discovered that under Commissioner John Koskinen, the Internal Revenue Service re-hired 212 employees it had previously fired for offenses including tax evasion, theft, and abuse of taxpayer data.

The title of the report makes it clear that the IRS “continues to rehire former employees with conduct and performance issues.” The inspection was requested by a U.S. Senator, who is not named in the report, although Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) introduced legislation to block the agency from rehiring such employees shortly after the report was released.

Damore's Revenge: Google Faces Growing Legal Threats As Other Googlers Come Forward

James Damore gained instant fame earlier this month when he was fired for "un-Googly conduct" after publishing a paper on an employee chat board suggesting that men may be better equipped biologically for engineering jobs than women. Apparently science is embraced by the Left when discussing climate change but not so much when it's used to suggest that anatomy might just be coded in a person's DNA rather than being a personal choice that each millennial can make, and change, on a whim.

But, according to a new note from Wired Magazine, Damore's firing for discussing an 'un-Googly" political position might not be just an isolated event. As Damore's attorney and prominent San Francisco Republican Harmeet Dhillon points out, several other Googlers have come forward claiming that they too were discriminated against for challenging Google’s liberal political orthodoxy.

Saudi Arabia and Israel Might 'Directly Intervene' in Syrian Conflict

Sputnik Radio discussed this statement with Israel Shamir, a Russian-Israeli journalist and Middle East expert, who said that the Russian Defense Minister could be a "little bit overoptimistic."

"There is a danger that some external forces would not agree with the settlement of the Syrian war. Those forces are Saudi Arabia and Israel," Shamir told Sputnik.

Once upon a time, Syria was a powerful state, he went on. However now it is in disarray, therefore Saudi Arabia and Israel are worried that this change on the ground could be to the advantage of Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, that is how this is going to come down; the US and Israel taking chunks out of Syria,to be "awarded" to the Kurds for an independent Kurdistan, with certain provisions as to who actually controls Kurdish oil,and in what currencies for which it is sold.

Trump Attorney Sues Greenpeace Over Dakota Access Pipeline in $300 Million Racketeering Case

Energy Transfer Partners, owner of the Dakota Access pipeline, has filed a $300 million Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) lawsuit against Greenpeace and other environmental groups for their activism against the long-contested North Dakota-to-Illinois project.

In its 187-page complaint, Energy Transfer alleges that “putative not-for-profits and rogue eco-terrorist groups who employ patterns of criminal activity and campaigns of misinformation to target legitimate companies and industries with fabricated environmental claims and other purported misconduct” caused the company to lose “billions of dollars.”

US to Hand Raqqa Over to ISIS Affiliates After “Defeating” ISIS

US policymakers have recently announced plans to hand over control of the Syrian city of Raqqa to former Islamic State (ISIS)-affiliated officials, Newsweek would report.

In its article, “Syria: Arab Tribes Who Once Supported ISIS Turn to U.S. As Endgame Being In Raqqa,” Newsweek reports:

A top U.S. diplomat in the fight against the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) has praised recent talks with Syrian tribal leaders slated to play a large role in governing Raqqa once the jihadis are expelled.

But the plan to create a careful balance of local power on the ground in Raqqa that will likely see former ISIS-affiliated officials ultimately in charge could cause a split between the U.S. and its Kurdish allies.

What appears to be ill-conceived policy is in fact the United States providing direct military protection to the remnants of terrorist organizations operating in Syria it has supported, including fighters of the so-called “Islamic State.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING ME?!?

This is the mechanism through which the US military will be staying in Raqqa, and other portions of Syria, for a long time to come.

But I must ask: have Syria's President Bashir Al-Assad and Russia's President, Vladimir Putin gotten the memo yet?!?

Because this US occupation in Syria could well lead to a war against Russia, within Syria and beyond, at any moment.

More American Troops to Afghanistan, To Keep the Chinese Out? Lithium and the Battle for Afghanistan’s Mineral Riches

The US military bases are there to assert US control over Afghanistan’s mineral wealth. According to Foreign Affairs, “there are more U.S. military forces deployed there [Afghanistan] than to any other active combat zone”, the official mandate of which is “to go after” the Taliban, Al Qaeda and ISIS as part of the “Global war on Terrorism”.

Why so many military bases? Why the additional forces sent in by Trump?

The unspoken objective of US military presence in Afghanistan is to keep the Chinese out, i.e hinder China from establishing trade and investments relations with Afghanistan.

More generally, the establishment of military bases in Afghanistan on China’s Western border is part of a broader process of military encirclement of the People’s Republic of China.–i.e naval deployments in the South China sea, military facilities in Guam, South Korea, Okinawa, Jeju Island, etc. (see 2011 map below)

NATO says Russia should be transparent about its military drills

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Friday the alliance would closely watch Russian military exercises in western Russia and Belarus next month, urging Moscow to be transparent about the drills.

The maneuvers, the largest in years, with tanks, naval and air units operating in and around the Baltic and North Sea, have raised NATO’s concern that the official number of troops participating might be understated.

“We are going to be watching very closely the course of these exercises,” Stoltenberg told reporters after meeting Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo on a visit to check on the deployment of the U.S.-led alliance’s forces in the country’s east.

“All countries have the right to exercises of their armed forces, but the countries should also respect the obligation to be transparent.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I NATO'S Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, I would not be speaking of "Russian Transparency" in these drills, but rather on the issue of mutual cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Talking, then acting together, in accord, on these areas, will do far better to ratchet down tensions between Europe and Russia than an accusatory statement about the lack of transparency (whatever the heck that is) in Russia's military drills.

China says nothing will stop its long-range air force drills

No amount of interference or shadowing of its aircraft will stop the Chinese air force from carrying out long-range drills, the defense ministry said, announcing another round of exercises of the type that have unnerved neighbouring Taiwan and Japan.

The air force carried out further long-range exercises on Thursday, the ministry said, without giving details of where they happened. Japan said it was concerned about bombers flying close to its territory.

Such “normal” drills accord with international law and practices and are part of an “ordinary need” to raise combat abilities and strengthen the military, it added.

“No matter what obstructions are encountered, the Chinese air force will carry on as before; no matter who flies with us, the Chinese air force will fly a lot and as normal!” the ministry added, citing an air force spokesman.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Can one logically object to this, understanding that the US has been doing "freedom of Navigation" deployments in and around the South China Seas for some time now?!?

The short answer is, no!

I ASKED THE U.S. MILITARY FOR ITS LEAFLETS ABOUT JOSEPH KONY. IT SIDESTEPPED THE REQUEST, THEN BURNED THEM.

“JOSEPH KONY Est Mort,” reads a leaflet bearing the murderous Central African warlord’s visage and the message, in French, that he has died.

Over the last six years, the United States invested the better part of $1 billion to make that statement a reality. America sent military advisers, set up bases, gathered intelligence, and funded and equipped local proxies across the region in an effort to kill or capture Kony and destroy his Lord’s Resistance Army, a militia that has committed atrocities since the 1980s. The U.S. military even created that flier to tout Kony’s death and sent reams of them to a shadowy outpost in the Central African Republic where they sat, waiting for the day they could rain down from the sky. Now that leaflet — and that dream — have gone up in smoke.

Korea, Afghanistan, And The Never-Ending War Trap

While the US-backed 'Hunger Games' in South Korea plow on, a 'new strategy' for Afghanistan is really all about business. But China is already there... There are more parallels between an unfinished 1950s war in Northeast Asia and an ongoing 16-year-old war in the crossroads between Central and South Asia than meet the eye.

U.S. will not tolerate Venezuelan 'dictatorship': Haley

U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said on Friday that U.S. sanctions against Venezuela were a strong message to President Nicolas Maduro that the United States would not tolerate a “dictatorship” in that country.

Haley, speaking at United Nations headquarters in New York, said she had not been asked to meet at the UN with visiting Venezuelan foreign minister Jorge Arreaza.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What, precisely, does Ambassador Haley mean when she says that the US "... will not tolerate a dictatorship in Venezuela."?!?!?

Ambassador Haley, a word please; the US government has been very cosy with dictatorships it has helped install around the world, from that of the Shah of Iran to Pinochet in Argentina; and to Petro Poroshenko in Ukraine (an action over which some of the more aware career State Department staffers are experiencing "Buyer's Remorse", but I digress).

Hugo Chavez used Venezuela's great oil wealth for the good of Venezuelan citizens.

Economic policies of Hugo Chavez

You and your colleagues are very comfortable with dictators, just as long as they are western-centric, and to your liking, economically.

But what you and your colleagues are "lusting after in your collective hearts", is to insure Venezuela is controlled by a US centric puppet; give control of the Venezuelan oil fields to American or US-friendly foreign nationals; and insure that Venezuela's oil is only sold in US dollars.

I am certain that if you believe you can accomplish "regime change" in Caracas, you will do that, most probably militarily, no matter how many innocent Venezuelans get killed.

In terms of its ability to fight back, militarily, Venezuela may appear to be "the low hanging fruit" for regime change.

But Ambassador Haley, I must strongly caution you that the US government needs to review its recent military epic fails around the world to date, and spanning several administrations; the US wars against Iraq; Afghanistan; Somalia; and Libya were not the "poster child" wars successive administrations thought they were going to be.

IF the US government goes in with a decap strike against Maduro, it may not go terribly well, as the Venezuelan people will most probably not accept an outside military force as "liberators".

Just saying...

Israel’s Alarm over Syrian Debacle

But rather than making a wider war less likely, the upshot is to make it even more. Having bet on the wrong horse, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu now finds himself facing a nightmare scenario in which Iran takes advantage of Assad’s winning streak to extend its reach from Iraq and Syria into Lebanon beyond. It’s not just a question of political influence, but of the emergence of a powerful Iranian-led military bloc.

Eleven years after fighting a vicious 34-day war in southern Lebanon, Israel thus finds itself facing not only Hezbollah but the Syrian Arab Army, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards, and Iraqi Shi‘ite militias – all backed by Russian military might – in a front extending across its entire northern border. All are battle-hardened after years of combat, better armed, better led, and more self-confident to boot. Israel finds itself confronting a new threat that is many times more powerful than Hezbollah (or Syria) alone.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is the "justification" Israeli politicians will make to the world for a pre-emptive strike against Syria.

And the proof to Israel's claim that Iran is building a missile factory in Syria's Baniyas? Most probably non-existent, unless someone from Tel Aviv can show the world incontrovertible, non-photo-shopped 2017 images of this alleged bomb manufacturing site.

Prime Minister Netanyahu, a word, please: you have used the "scaremonger/victim" card, as a characterisation of Israel, one too many times, so it has lost its luster for thinking people around the world.

And I would very politely remind those in the Bowels of Power in Tel Aviv that Iran hasn't started a war in over two hundred years.

IF, in fact, Iranian missiles are being manufactured at Baniyas, they will only be defensive in nature, to prevent a US/Israeli attack against it.

Please, what logical reason would Iran have to attack Israel?!? The short answer is, none!!

Iran's Majlis and senior government officials are many things; but they are not fools. They understand that any attack against Israel would bring the US into the fray immediately, and turn Iran into molten glass, should they dare to try it.

One of the things Netanyahu HATED about the P5+1 accord, was that it stopped its nuclear weapons program (and is still declared in compliance with that treaty by the IAEA very recently), which meant that the Americans had no reason to invade Iran, and regime change it.

Oh, yes: the Israeli government is very keen on regime change in Tehran; but explicitly wants all the costs in blood and money be borne by the Unhinged Surveilled States of Amerika.

IF Israel goes ahead with any bombing of Syria, it will entail a mighty military effort from the US as well, and most probably a nasty military response from Russia, which is protecting the Al-Asad government in Damascus.

One of the things the Israeli government loves to do to its own people, is to terrify them into believing, every second, that Israel is under near-immediate threat of attack from its Arab neighbors, when logic indicates that Israel, through generous financial and military assistance, is bristling with weapons and personnel who understand how to fight back, or initiate a strike, when commanded.

So I would suggest that the Arab nations surrounding Israel have every reason to be concerned about pre-emptive strikes against them, rather than the other way round. This threat of a strike against Syria is a perfect example of that.

Trump and Korea: I’m Also Scared

Meanwhile, Trump has backed himself into a corner over North Korea. His threats and bombast have not made the North’s leader Kim Jong-un stop threatening to launch nuclear-armed missiles at the US island of Guam, Hawaii, Japan and South Korea. That is, if the US and South Korea keep up their highly provocative annual military war games on North Korea’s borders that each year invoke North Korea’s fury.

Unless, of course, Trump, who managed to avoid Vietnam era military service because of a bump on his foot, decides to go nuclear. This would mean hitting North Korea with a score or more nuclear weapons, large and small, before the North could riposte. North Korea would be totally destroyed, and its 25 million people left dying, maimed or starving. Japan, the world’s third largest economy, would also be shattered.

US Dismisses UN Plea: Won’t Stop Bombing Civilians in Raqqa

The soaring civilian death toll form US airstrikes against the ISIS capital city of Raqqa has gotten so bad that yesterday, it actually fueled a statement from the UN requesting the US pause their airstrikes to allow more civilians to flee the city.

US officials are rejecting this call, however, with Special Envoy Brett McGurk insisting that the war against ISIS is going very well, and that the “number one thing that we have to do to” to help civilians in Raqqa is continue the war and defeat ISIS outright.

McGurk went on to say that President Trump is “focused like a laser destroying ISIS,” and that the war is going well, but that they will take the UN call to pause the strikes “under advisement.” It’s clear, however, they aren’t taking the call seriously.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This event very much reminds me of the statement by the Papal Legate at the siege of the Cathars at Montsegur, France.

When informed that women and children were with the men, taking refuge here, the Papal Legate's command was: "Kill them all; God will find his own!!"

Given this bloodlust for killing everyone still breathing in Raqqa, allegedly to take out ISIS, I am completely astonished that Special Envoy McGurk has not requested the use of several MOAB bombs against the city.

Because it has become painfully apparent that in US diplospeak, "helping people" now means "assassinating civilians".

US, Somali Troops Execute 10 Civilians, Including Children, in Village Raid

US and Somali troops attacked the farming village of Barire early Friday morning, capturing a group of ten civilians and summarily executing them one at a time. Locals brought the bodies, including three children, to the capital of Mogadishu to protest the incident.

Deputy Governor of Lower Shabelle Ali Nur Mohammed blamed the US forces, saying that they rounded up the farmers working in the fields, then “one by one” shot them, saying that all the slain were unarmed civilians.

US African Command confirmed that US troops were “supporting” the Somali operation, but offered no details. They confirmed being aware of reports of civilians being killed and promised an “assessment” of the matter.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Hey, particularly the murder of those children; wow, it was like shooting fish in a barrel!!" - Official Somali government souse.

Just when the hell, please, did I become a citizen of a country which assassinates children, then just throws a whitewash on the whole action, with complete cynical impunity?!?

ANGRY MARINE WHO DISCOVERED AWAN'S "SMASHED HARD DRIVES" BREAKS SILENCE, UNLOADS ON WASSERMAN SCHULTZ

Andre Taggart, the U.S. Marine who alerted the FBI when he moved into a house he rented from Imran Awan only to find a garage full of "smashed hard drives", has decided to reveal his identity in a stinging, at least for Debbie Wasserman Schultz, new interview with the Daily Caller.

Taggart, a black U.S. Marine who says he typically votes Democrat, is apparently fed up with Debbie Wasserman Schultz's Islamophobia smoke screen which he views as just a dishonest attempt to shield the Awans from their crimes. In his epic rant to the Daily Caller, Taggart says the whole thing just "pisses me off" and that he's "absolutely disgusted with everything going on in the country right now."

As we noted a few weeks ago, Taggart first discovered Awan's smashed hard drives after he rented a house in Lorton, Va. that belonged to them. Upon moving in, the Marine found a trove of abandoned computer equipment in the garage, much of which had been destroyed, and called the FBI to take a look.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Welcome to my world, Mr. Taggart; and you did a brave and noble thing by turning those smashed drives over to the FBI, and I hope and pray that some of the intel on them will reveal the insidious, drug-drenched money-junkie workings of the DNC and the Clinton Foundation.

NORTH KOREA RISKS ‘FIRE AND FURY’ WITH LAUNCH OF THREE ‘SHORT-RANGE’ MISSILES

In a move which can only be construed as calling President Trump’s bluff over his ‘fire and fury’ threat over further provocations, U.S. Pacific Command announced that North Korea has launched several ‘Short-Range’ ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan today.

Earlier today, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that several ‘unidentified projectiles’ from area of Gitdaeryong in Gangwon Province at around 6:49 a.m. local time, flying over 250 Km (155 miles) towards the North East.

“Our military is closely monitoring for North Korean additional provocation and strengthened surveillance and security postures and maintaining readiness postures,” the South Korean release said.

Meanwhile, Japanese officials told Kyodo news service that the North had fired ‘a projectile’ into the sea between Japan and the Korean peninsula.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In light of the fact that no people or property appeared to have been harmed in the falling of these missiles, I think, at this moment, President Trump is going to show restraint; at least, that is what I would caution him to do right now, were I a "president whisperer".

MUGABE SAYS ZIMBABWE "WILL NOT PROSECUTE KILLERS OF WHITE FARMERS"

93-year-old Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe made it clear in an address this week that people who murdered white farmers during a government-sanctioned purge in the 2000s will never be prosecuted.

In 2000, Zimbabwe implemented a controversial land reform program that saw squatters invade and seize hundreds of white-owned farms around the country. As Newsweek details, the violent seizures resulted in the murder of several white farmers, with many more displaced, and close associates of Mugabe given large chunks of land.

And now, speaking at a rally in Harare, Mugabe confirmed this massacre will go unpunished, according to Zimbabwean news site NewsDay.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This was never a "land reform" program; it was a land grab program, and by any means necessary, including summary execution of the existing land owners.

And to the people of South Africa; apparently, if you are non-indigenous person owning agricultural land, you are next:

Sears Death Spiral Accelerates: Vendors Halt Shipments As Cost Of Default Insurance Soars

When we commented back in March on the unexpected "going concern" notice in Sears' 10-K which sent the stock crashing, we pointed out the immediate spin provided by Eddie Lampert's distressed retailer which promised that its comeback plan may help alleviate the concerns, “satisfying our estimated liquidity needs 12 months from the issuance of the financial statements", to which however we added the footnote that "the question is what happens when vendors start demanding cash on delivery as concerns about SHLD.'s liquidity concerns continue to grow.

Shortly after, we wrote "Sears Enters Death Spiral: Vendors Halt Shipments, Insurers Bail" in which we described that as Sears financial condition deteriorated, vendors were boosting their "defensive measures", such as reducing shipments and asking for better payment terms, to protect against the risk of nonpayment as the company warned about its finances.

Rome Is Burning... This Time It's By Refugees

Police in Rome evicted 100s of refugees that had occupied Piazza Independenza just one block from the country’s main train station.

The squatters were defiant so local police used water cannons and batons in the forceful eviction. As Reuters reports,

Some 100 refugees had occupied Piazza Independenza since Saturday, when most of about 800 squatters were evicted from an adjacent office building they had occupied for about five years.

Hung on the building was a sheet with writing reading “We are refugees, not terrorists” in Italian.

A small fire burned on the pavement and a sheet hanging from a first-floor window was set alight by squatters inside. Most of the squatters were Eritreans who had been granted asylum. Police said they had refused to accept lodging offered by the city.

More than 600,000 boat migrants have arrived in Italy from North Africa since 2014.

LA’s response to homeless encampments ‘isn’t working,’ councilman says

Amid rising homelessness and mounting outcry from residents and business owners, a Los Angeles city councilman said Wednesday he wants to take a hard look at the way the city responds to the increasing presence of encampments and recreational vehicles.

“What we have isn’t working,” Councilman Mitchell Englander said.

In recent months, the issue of homelessness has become inescapable, with residents encountering more homelessness in their neighborhoods, according to the councilman, who represents the northwest San Fernando Valley.

“There’s not a conversation I have — whether it’s fixing a street, trimming a tree, walking to school or going to a grocery store — where we don’t talk about homelessness,” he said.

Out of Los Angeles City Councilman Joe Buscaino’s office: “Ditto,” said spokesman Branimir Kvartuc.

“We’re very, very conscious of it,” Kvartuc said. “It’s a battle every day.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a horrific image of America, going out to the world, that we do not have the means, or willingness, to deal with the problem.

I cannot imagine anyone saying to themselves, "Oh, I just want to be so financially stressed, after losing my job and my residence, because I couldn't pay the rent, that I sincerely want to homeless now."

I am no bleeding heart; I was very lucky to come from a family with true work ethics, and have learned to make what I'm good at into a profession.

Newsletter on UCCS: 'Veterans should be banned from four-year universities'

The university explained while this group is not affiliated with the college, they say it is free speech and the group can post what they want.

The article says veterans should be banned from UCCS and other four-year colleges. It also generalizes veterans and says they are unsympathetic to the LGBTQ community. The article says all veterans have far right-wing ideologies.

"They [the authors of the letter] try and talk about inclusion as a principle," said UCCS student Joe Hollmann. "Yet, they're excluding one of the most important members of society, those that are guarding our freedom to even talk about this."

Webmaster's Commentary:

ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING ME?!?

This is just one of the most misconceived concepts in a long history of misconceived concepts; to deny an education to Veterans because of some assessment, created by magical thinking, they are all right wingers, so have no right to an education at this school?!?

Where is the logic, here?!? Has anyone actually come up with a standards and means test to determine what former military think, to make that determination?!? And please, aren't we all Americans, even if we think differently about political issues?!? And that to me, coupled with the First Amendment restrictions and educational restrictions someone at this school, or may have attended this school, want to force on their community.

NAFTA Is 23 Years Old – Here Are 20 Facts That Show How It Is Destroying The Economy

Back in the early 1990s, the North American Free Trade Agreement was one of the hottest political issues in the country. When he was running for president in 1992, Bill Clinton promised that NAFTA would result in an increase in the number of high quality jobs for Americans that it would reduce illegal immigration. Ross Perot warned that just the opposite would happen. He warned that if NAFTA was implemented there would be a “giant sucking sound” as thousands of businesses and millions of jobs left this country. Most Americans chose to believe Bill Clinton. Well, it is 20 years later and it turns out that Perot was right and Clinton was dead wrong. But now history is repeating itself, and most Americans don’t even realize that it is happening. As you will read about at the end of this article, Barack Obama has been negotiating a secret trade treaty that is being called “NAFTA on steroids”, and if Congress adopts it we could lose millions more good paying jobs.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Any trade deals which do not better the situation of workers in the US makes them worse for the American worker, and consequently, should not be ratified by the US Senate.

But we know what will happen here; corporations who support these alleged congressional representatives, will be come "The Congressional Whisperers", and insure that trade deals which compromise the American people, financially, will ultimately be ratified, because those deals support their corporations, no matter how horrific they may well be for We the People.

US Military Bio-labs in Ukraine, Production of Bio-weapons and “Disease Causing Agents”

Ukraine turned into the proving ground for the new generation of US biological weapons, European mass media report.

In 2015, American alternative media outlet InfoWars accused the Pentagon of developing new types of biological weapons in secret military laboratories in Ukraine. The facilities were constructed under the terms of the bilateral agreement signed between the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Department of Defense in 2012.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just lovely; why are they not putting energy and effort into curing people, rather than killing them?!?

I have to wonder against whom these weapons are to be used; and that makes me very nervous.

Whistleblower Lawsuit Charges Illegal Retaliation, Dangerous Practices at CIA’s Elite Directorate of Operations

The Pars lawsuit claims that, in 2015, the CIA’s Chief of Base at a US military facility routinely required subordinates to risk their lives by passing through an area of hostile fire without any operational need to do so. The Chief of Base who did this, the lawsuit says, was an officer with “limited to no” previous experience operating in a conflict zone.

For reporting the misconduct to his superiors, the lawsuit says Pars was sent home in an act of unlawful retaliation, directed by the Chief of Station, the highest-ranking CIA official in the unnamed country which, given details in the complaint, appears to be Afghanistan. Since the alleged reprisal more than two years ago, the lawsuit says Pars, his career in shambles, has made dozens of unsuccessful attempts to get a new assignment. Meanwhile, there is no public record of any accountability for the Chief of Station or other CIA officials allegedly involved.

The CIA declined to comment.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is obviously completely insane, and should have been stopped by this lady's superiors; that fact that they didn't, yet set upon Pars, to "murder the messenger", rather than fix the problem.

This is an institutional problem for many American alphabet soup agencies, and needs to be fixed.

NEW BILL WOULD FORCE ARRESTED PROTESTERS TO PAY POLICE OVERTIME, OTHER FEES

A NEW BILL INTRODUCED by seven Pennsylvania Republican state lawmakers could force protesters arrested at demonstrations to pay for police overtime and other fees related to the action.

The bill, SB 754, has been introduced by Rep. Scott Martin of Lancaster County; his district has been the site of anti-pipeline protests aimed at the Atlantic Sunrise natural gas pipeline.

Under the terms of the bill, “a person is responsible for public safety response costs incurred by a State agency or political subdivision as a result of the State agency’s or political subdivision’s response to a demonstration if, in connection with the demonstration, the person is convicted of a felony or misdemeanor offense.”

In other words, they could be on the hook for costs, such as police overtime, medical or emergency response, or other basic public services associated with protests. Whatever felony or misdemeanor offense the protester was convicted of would come with its own independent penalty.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This will have an horrifically chilling free speech, protected by the Bill of Rights and Constitution, and would also have a chilling effect on peaceful protestors who just want to make their voices heard, creating no violence whatsoever, which is probably precisely the design intention of the author of this bill.

It very much reminds me of the brilliantly dystopian quote from Orwell's 2984: “The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.”

IF this kind of behaviour is asserted at the State and Federal levels, we will reach a point in this country, where the Constitution and Bill of Rights will be thoroughly eviscerated, and no longer exist as protections against a government which does not serve We the People, but only serves Those the Corporations; we have become irrelevant to our alleged representatives in State and Federal Government.

To those with skills and kids, get the hell out of this country right now; it is morphing into a dictatorship will all the techno bells and whistles to guarantee that you are thoroughly surveilled, 24/7, and you won't understand the ramifications of that surveillance until it is far too late.

Big Brother Wants Warrantless Access to Your Smartphone

Imagine you’re a journalist, meeting with a secret government source. Thanks to the information provided by this source, you break an astronomically important story of government fraud or abuse. After the story breaks, the government decides it wants to go back and look at your cell phone’s historic geolocation information and metadata, tracking your every move and jeopardizing your source. Current Supreme Court precedent and a decision by the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals allow government to collect this type of metadata without a warrant.

That’s why a group of 20 media organizations has filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court, urging the justices to overturn the lower court’s order, and require law enforcement to obtain a warrant before collecting archived cell phone location data and metadata. The brief is signed by media nonprofits such as the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and media publishers like First Look Media, publisher of The Intercept.

Mattis: US Actively Considering Arming Ukraine

On a visit to Ukraine today, Defense Secretary James Mattis played up the narrative that the ongoing fighting in Eastern Ukraine was wholly Russia’s fault, vowing that the US “stands with Ukraine” against the Russians, and confirming active considerations are ongoing to providing lethal military aid to them.

Ukraine’s President Poroshenko claimed 3,000 Russian troops are in Ukrainian territory, a claim which appears to be built around the assumption that Crimea, which seceded from Ukraine and joined the Russian Federation, is still technically Ukrainian.

Still Mattis appeared to accept the number unquestioningly, accusing Russia of trying to “redraw” the map of Europe by military force, and vowing that the US would stand against them. Though he stopped short of promising arms to Ukraine, he gave the impression they were probably coming.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sec General Mattis, a word, please: these alleged "defensive weapons" will most probably not be used in this context. Rather, the Ukrainian military will likely use them in an offensive manner against independent, pro-russian bastions in the Southern and Western parts of the country, which could well erupt into all out war in the region, pitting the US against Russia over Ukraine.

And I sincerely hope you have thought all possible scenarios through, completely, to their logical conclusion before you make this move.

Iran Ready to Support Saudi Arabia in Improving Bilateral Ties

Iranian Foreign Minister claimed that his country is willing to support Saudi Arabia's move to improve bilateral relations.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iran is ready to improve bilateral relation with Saudi Arabia whenever the latter expresses a similar interest, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said Thursday.

“If the Saudi authorities take steps to improve their relations with us, Iran will certainly respond in a positive manner,” Zarif was quoted as saying by the Anadolu news agency.

U.S. SENATE WANTS TO LABEL WIKILEAKS A “NON-STATE HOSTILE INTELLIGENCE SERVICE”

“It is the sense of Congress that WikiLeaks and the senior leadership of WikiLeaks resemble a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors and should be treated as such a service by the United States,” a section of the Act reads.

The Act almost unanimously passed a Senate panel last month 14-1, rejected by only one man, Sen. Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat who staunchly opposed the measure due to the provision that was snuck in about WikiLeaks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Attorney General Jeff Sessions previously said in April that the arrest of WikiLeaks’ publisher Julian Assange was a “priority” for the DOJ."

Why, please sir?!? Do you any possible clue, or the slight comprehension, of what this kind of petty, impotent language helps makes the Unhinged, Surveilled States of Amerika, look to the rest of the world?!?

To the best of my understanding, the guy has an enviable track record for getting the truth out there, and I find that commendable; you and your buddies in the Senate, however, want him arrested because he has embarrassed the American government by telling American citizens, and the world, the truth about your, and our Government's, activities you didn't want us to have.

D.C. judge approves government warrant for data from anti-Trump website

The Justice Department last week proposed amending the scope of its warrant to exclude the IP addresses of website visitors and limit the search only to records from July 1, 2016, to the Jan. 20 Inauguration Day.

But DreamHost said the warrant was still too broad, as it could sweep in people who sent emails to disruptj20 addresses. The company objected to the two-step process that would require it to turn over data in bulk and let prosecutors search for and seize evidence of criminal involvement in the riots.

Morin said at a hearing on Thursday that he recognised the tension between free speech rights and law enforcement's need to search digital records for evidence. He said he added safeguards to his order granting the government's request for information in an effort to balance those two concerns.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Morin knows the drill in DC: "Plata o Plomo";silver... or lead.

How that gets defined in the bowels of DC, is as: you help me get out this scrape, and you will be rewarded; but if you do not, please accept the reality that we will terminate you... with extreme prejudice.

And Morin, to no great shock, was a Clinton appointee, so he may well be better acquainted with where the bodies are buried, than other of his colleagues.

Morin was appointed judge in 1996 by President Clinton and previously served as presiding judge of the court’s criminal division, where he helped oversee management of calendars for judges who handle criminal cases. He also has worked representing death-penalty clients at the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta and with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.

I wonder just what, instead of ratcheting down the parameters of his investigation so severely, he would have found if he had been led to connections with some very powerful people, who have utterly no sense of fair play or morality?!?

That's why he got this case; to tighten the screws and button down any attempt to really find where the money went, or implicate any of the DNC in his investigation of these protests.

CONGRESS QUIETLY PASSED A BILL ALLOWING WARRANTLESS SEARCHES OF HOMES—ONLY 1% OPPOSED IT

The proposal for a safety commission to act as a wing of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority may sound logical, when its power includes thing such as the ability to “Adopt, revise, and distribute a written State Safety Oversight Program” and to “Review, approve, oversee, and enforce the adoption and implementation of WMATA’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan.”

However, there is one major red flag buried within the text of the bill that stems from the list of “powers” given to the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission, and it violates one of the basic tenants of the U.S. Constitution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is absolutely just as suspicious as it appears to be, and I hope that this law is, ultimately, repealed in a Supreme Court case.

US TAXPAYERS SPENT $50 MILLION FOR LUXURY CARS, GUNS, & BOOZE TO MENTOR AFGHAN INTEL OFFICERS

A foreign company hired by the U.S. government to mentor and train Afghan intelligence officers billed Uncle Sam for more than $50 million in luxury cars - including Porsches, an Aston Martin, and a Bentley - and the lucrative salaries of executives and their spouses (who didn’t do any work). The firm also spent $1,500 on alcohol and $42,000 on automatic weapons prohibited under the terms of the contract, according to figures provided by a U.S. Senator from a federal audit that has not been released to the public.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And I would almost be willing to wager a penny ...that this report will never be released to the General Public.

And this, when homeless American Vets sleep rough in our alleys, and are unable to get treatment from the VA?!?

This spending in Afghanistan, demonstrates, once again, that average US citizens are irrelevant to those in the bowels of power in DC, and the government is only answerable to the monied corporate class, interested in controlling Afghanistan's pipelines; harvest its minerals; and keeping the burgeoning opium trade here going.

And trust me, in this next "surge" in Afghanistan; it won't be the men and women from the monied class who will die, or get maimed for life, serving this country's economic interests.

HERE'S HOW MANY AMERICANS ARE LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK (HINT: IT'S A LOT)

Is your family forced to count down the days each month until the next paycheck arrives? If so, you're part of a staggering, and growing, majority of households in America, the richest country on the planet, that is forced to do the same.

According to a new poll conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of CareerBuilder, over three-quarters of American households are forced to live paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet.

The survey highlights a troubling trend in household finances: More than eight years since the end of the recession, the share of Americans who are living on the financial edge is growing, said Mike Erwin, a spokesman for CareerBuilder. While some may want to blame Americans' spendthrift ways, Erwin pointed to two trends that continue to put financial stress on households: stagnant wages and the rising cost of everything from education to many consumer goods.

The Petro-Dollar is dead. It had served so well for over 40 years in maintaining the USDollar as global currency reserve, while keeping tight the controls on geopolitical power. The link between crude oil and the USDollar has been broken, painfully evident since 2016 with a harsh price decline that cannot rise about the $50 level. It remains stuck below that level despite heavy collusion in a demonstration that OPEC is dead defunct also. A void has been created in the energy sector, a most important sector. Enter Russia & China to fill the void. Both the crude oil market and the natural gas market have new alliances which feature nations acting in a cooperative manner. The common element is Russia on the production side, complete with pipeline arrays. The common other element is China on the demand side with large customer needs and financial influence. This article describes the two emerging organizations, which the Jackass calls the Oil Consortium and the NatGas Cartel.

OUTRAGE BUILDS OVER GRADE-MANIPULATION SCANDAL IN BALTIMORE SCHOOL SYSTEM

Earlier this month, ‘Project Baltimore’, an investigative reporting initiative, which was launched in March 2017, by Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. uncovered a Baltimore City school with zero students proficient in math and the highest graduation rate in the area.

The school in focus is Northwood Appold Community Academy II, or NACA II, after teachers contacted Project Baltimore saying grades were being change so students can graduate.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are many, horrific examples of abuse of children; but such abuse, intellectually, is visited on more poor and minority students as their alleged "education" in low income areas.

If any kid is NOT being prepared for achieving intellectually, academically, and in real life goals, this is a travesty against that child's future, and the highest possible outcomes for that child scream drug dealer; gang member; and thoroughly addicted adult. Not pretty. are they?!?

The film "Stand and Deliver", was based on a real-life situation with a teacher in the LA area who refused to take failure on the part of his math class to be the norm. So what he did was prepare them to complete in a state level math challenge, which they won, handily. But the School Boards accused them of cheating, so he went back, prepared them again, and they again won-handily.

And why?!? Because this teacher saw potential and giftedness in these kids where others saw them as complete failures, barely graduating high school, and getting them from high school to either social services, or juvenile hall, which were, in their minds, the only outcome for these kids; and that so absolutely was not true.

One of the things we have to do in this country, if we want to grow as a nation, is that all parents, working in tandem with schools, need to participate in the child's,and the school's, life. Be there for the open houses; make time for the PTA meetings, and look your kid's teacher in the eye, and say, "I'm here to help; what can I do, please, in looking over my kids' shoulder at their homework"?!?

OBAMACARE 'ARCHITECT' SETTLES SUIT OVER FRAUD ALLEGATIONS

Jonathan Gruber, the MIT professor who has been dubbed the architect of Obamacare, has settled a lawsuit accusing him of filing fraudulent claims for government payments.

According to the settlement agreement, Gruber’s allegedly fraudulent claims date back to 2014, when the economics professor was hired by the State of Vermont to conduct research and economic modeling “relating to the implementation of Vermont’s single-payer healthcare system.”

Gruber rose to notoriety in late 2014 when video footage surfaced showing him admitting that the Affordable Care Act was passed under false pretenses, even boasting that “the stupidity of the American voter” made the grand deception possible.

The settlement notes that in two of the submitted invoices, Gruber documented that his “research assistants” worked for 500 hours at a rate of $100 an hour.

Webmaster's Commentary:

An interesting piece of work President Obama hired, but that's just the point; Gruber's hiring was due strictly to connectedness and party affiliation.

It was certainly not due to his competency or morality (of which he has absolutely none); it was all about how much money he could intensely suckle from the system, until he was found out to be an utter and complete fraud, who knew the Obamacare system would ultimately collapse under its own weight.

RUSSIA UNVEILS ‘INVISIBLE’ SUPERSONIC FIGHTER JETS HARD TO TRACK ON ENEMY RADARS

Officially revealing the fifth generation of Sukhoi-57 supersonic stealth fighter aircraft, Russia has made a statement that it is in the game of stealth warfare. The Sukhoi-57 is designed to compete with the American F-22 Raptor and the Chinese Shenyang J-31 Falcon Hawk, claimed the official statement from the Russian Ministry of Defence.

“T-50 was created for qualitative superiority over predecessors, opponents and competitors,” says MIA’s Alexander Khrolenko. “This is the answer to the US aircraft of the fifth generation F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This fighter jet looks pretty capable; and in the hands of an experienced pilot, capable of doing some great damage.

With the show Russian WMDs put on in Syria, countries around the world are clamoring for these weapons, as opposed to a lot of what US weaponry manufacturers are creating these days.

And those weapons manufacturers in the US have no one but themselves to blame for this turn of economic events against them.

NEXT STOP, RECESSION: THE FINANCIAL METEOR STORM IS HEADED OUR WAY

Business-cycle recessions are not just inevitable, they are necessary to flush bad debt and marginal investments/projects from the system.

The next recession--which I suggested yesterday has just begun--will be more than a business-cycle downturn; it will be a devastating meteor storm that destroys huge chunks of the economy while leaving other sectors virtually untouched.

The dynamic that's about to play out is simple: wages for the bottom 95% have gone nowhere for 17 years, while costs have soared far above official inflation for everyone exposed to real-world costs.

We have filled the widening gap between stagnant household income and rising expenses with debt. This stop-gap works for a while, but eventually the cost of servicing debt consumes the entire budget, leaving little to nothing to save or invest.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Again, please, don't panic; but prepare as well as you are able for the coming financeapocolypse.

There are a couple of things to remember here; first, get your debt load paid down as much as you can, and try not to used credit to get stuff you don't really need. To keep your credit score healthy, keep it at a near-zero balance, then buy something small with your credit card, and pay it off as close to zero as you can. There is an impending hike rate coming from the Fed, so that will affect your credit card interest greatly.

One other thing to understand is your credit score, and its meaning, and that can be done free at places like creditkarma.com. Then, if there is something negative and outstanding, you can work to resolve it, so that your credit score goes up.

Why Does US Military Have Records On 2013 Egyptian Military Coup?

Egyptian army chief, General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, led a coup against Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in 2013. The Egyptian constitution was subsequently suspended. When it happened, President Barack Obama avoided the use of the word “coup” to describe what unfolded. This was to ensure U.S. military aid continued to flow to the country. And, as The Guardian noted, “Ties between the Pentagon and the Egyptian military [were] already close.”

A Sinister War On our right to hold cash.

An operation that began as a seemingly obscure academic discussion three years ago is now becoming a full-blown propaganda campaign by some of the most powerful institutions in the industrialized world. This is what rightly should be termed the War on Cash. Like the War on Terror, the War on Cancer or the War on Drugs, its true agenda is sinister and opaque. If we are foolish enough to swallow the propaganda for complete elimination of cash in favor of pure digital bank money, we can pretty much kiss our remaining autonomy and privacy goodbye. George Orwell’s 1984 will be here on steroids.

The U.S. Senate is considering a bill that would classify WikiLeaks as a “non-state hostile intelligence service” bundled as part of the 2018 Intelligence Authorization Act. Presumably, that classification would authorize the use of force against WikiLeaks. “It is the sense of Congress that WikiLeaks and the senior leadership of WikiLeaks resemble a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors and should be treated as such a service by the United States,” a section of the Act reads.

NETANYAHU TO PUTIN: IRAN MUST LEAVE SYRIA OR "WE WILL ACT"

For Netanyahu and other Israeli officials the chief concern was never the black clad death cult which filmed itself beheading Americans and burning people alive. "Let the Sunni evil prevail," they say.

Israel is threatening to escalate military action in Syria against perceived Iranian interests. This week Netanyahu declared, "we will act when necessary according to our red lines" while hinting he prefers ISIS presence in Syria as opposed to Iran aligned fighters at his border. This comes as ISIS is now crumbling, and at a time when most world leaders of nations driving the external proxy war in Syria have toned down their rhetoric regarding the future fate of the Assad government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Prime Minister Netanyahu, where are you hearing the following?!? ""We cannot forget for a single minute that Iran threatens every day to annihilate Israel."

Are the voices in your head getting louder, perhaps, sir?!?

Because in semi-official Iranian blogs such as presstv.com, and farsnews.com, which I read and to which I link pretty much daily, there is not a word about destroying Israel, but some deep, and intelligent, criticisms of how Israel treats the Palestinians, and particularly Palestinian children.

Where, please, do indefinite detentions, and the routine torture of children, to get them to accuse others in their communities of crimes they did not commit,"fit" in the only alleged democracy in the Middle East, which, by the way, still has no constitution, 69 years after it was founded?!?

Just curious, sir.

You could immediately make peace in a win/win situation by flying to Tehran, and developing a relationship with President Rouhani. And the reality here, sir, is that unlike what one sees in anti-Iranian Israeli propaganda, Jews in Iran are thriving.

Don't Tell Mother I'm In Iran

But of course, you won't, because part of the power Israeli politicians hold over their people is the power of fear; that the others in the region are ready to tear the hearts out of Israeli children, when it is generally Israeli settlers who are illegally claiming Palestinian land; encroaching more deeply in East Jerusalem, and the West Bank, and briskly evicting Palestinians whose families have lived on certain spots for multiple generations.

And we all know that you most likely won't be fighting directly against Iranians in Syria; you have the American troops to do do that for you.

American troops will be in Syria for decades

An independent Kurdistan is being established in sections of Iraq and Kurdistan, in order to balkanize those countries, and control their oil, something Israel is encouraging.

And we all know that you would love to regime change Tehran, but only at the costs of American blood and American money.

So please, don't give us this codswallop about "Iranian aggression", when Israeli aggression against its neighbors and the Palestinians have made it the absolute pariah of the entire Middle East.

How We Know The So-Called “Civil War” Was Not Over Slavery

Paul Craig Roberts

When I read Professor Thomas DiLorenzo’s article ( http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2017/08/21/lincoln-myth-ideological-co... ) the question that lept to mind was, “How come the South is said to have fought for slavery when the North wasn’t fighting against slavery?”

Two days before Lincoln’s inauguration as the 16th President, Congress, consisting only of the Northern states, passed overwhelmingly on March 2, 1861, the Corwin Amendment that gave constitutional protection to slavery. Lincoln endorsed the amendment in his inaugural address, saying “I have no objection to its being made express and irrevocable.”

If the South’s real concern was maintaining slavery, the South would not have turned down the constitutional protection of slavery offered them on a silver platter by Congress and the President. Clearly, for the South also the issue was not slavery.

Moqtada Al-Sadr and Saudi Arabia— The New Allies

After the meeting with Mohamed Bin Salman and other Saudi officials, Al-Sadr’s office stated that there would be a Saudi consulate in Najaf. Although looking at the suggestion superficially the intention seems to be to strengthen the Saudi relations with Iraqi government, there is more to that. It’s not a coincidence that Najaf was chosen. This would give Saudi Arabia the opportunity to crackdown on Shia opposition in the gulf countries while using religious authorities like Al-Sadr on their side. Al-Sadr left to Iraq, and Saudi bulldozers flattened Awamiya, terrorizing people and forcing hundreds to flee.

'A very bad day': Kim Jong-un orders production of more warhead tips as North Korea reveals missile plans

Kim Jong-un, the North Korean dictator, has ordered his scientists to step up production of warheads and solid fuel rocket engines for long-range ballistic missiles.

Requests in recent days from both South Korea and the United States for Pyongyang to halt its provocations and return to the discussion table appear to have fallen on deaf ears after Mr Kim was shown making his demand during a visit to the Chemical Material Institute of the Academy of Defence Sciences.

"He instructed the institute to produce more solid-fuel rocket engines and rocket warhead tips" through the use of carbon compounds, the Korean Central News Agency reported on Wednesday. Pictures show Mr Kim touring the research facility, trailed by uniformed officials assiduously scribbling in notebooks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF you, as the commander in chief of your country, were looking at the naval juggernaut represented by the US/Japanese/South Korean troops drilling just off the Korean peninsula, wouldn't you, logically, be doing precisely the same thing?!?

Kim appears to be convinced that war is coming; therefore, he is making plans to be able to defend North Korea as well as he possibly can.

The U.S. Military Is Cozying Up to Sudan, of All Countries: A genocidal regime is America's newest possible ally

The United States seems to be working toward courting an unexpected ally in its operations in Africa. On Aug. 9, 2017, Alexander Laskaris — an American diplomat that works for the U.S. military’s Germany-based Africa Command — visited Sudan for a series of meetings with military and diplomatic officials.

The visit comes amid a gradual move toward warmer relations. In March 2016, the Sudanese government reopened the military attache’s office in its U.S. embassy after a 28-year gap. Around the same time, Washington named a military attache for its own embassy Khartoum. And in April 2017, a delegation of Sudanese military officials met with AFRICOM in Stuttgart.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why not cozy up to a genocidal regime, when the US has been raining down genocide in Yemen, along with Saudi Arabia, and supporting the government of Bahrain and the Al Khalifa monarchy, which are torturing and jailing the Shia members of their population for wanting a constitutional monarchy?!?

Hey, if it is anything the Unhinged, Surveilled States of Amerika know how to do , it is how to commit genocide!!

But, I digress. Let's look at a map of Sudan:

Map of Sudan with surrounding countries

This would be a very convenient, centralized place in which the US military might want to build a number of installations, with eyes all of of Sudan's neighbors, which include: Egypt; Libya; Chad; Eritrea; Democratic Republic of Congo; Kenya; and Ethiopia.

But there must be something more than just location; as reported at Wikipedia:

"Petroleum is Sudan's major natural resource. The country also has significant deposits of chromium ore, copper, iron ore, mica, silver, gold, tungsten, and zinc."

I would think that this sudden US "warming" toward Sudan has a two-fold purpose; as a strategic location for US military sites in Africa, and the control of Sudan's oil and mineral capabilities.

Amid outrage, Philippine opposition presses Duterte to stop killings

Political opponents of Philippine leader Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday urged him to end a culture of impunity and quell a surge in drug-related killings, amid widespread anger at police over the death of a teenager.

Allegations of a cover-up in last week's death of Kian Loyd delos Santos has caused rare outrage among a public largely supportive of Duterte's campaign, which saw more than 90 people killed last week in three nights of intensified police operations.

The 17-year-old student was killed in a rundown area of Manila and according to a forensic expert who conducted an autopsy, Delos Santos was shot in the back of the head and ears while on the floor, suggesting there was no gunfight, contrary to an official police report. The victim's family reject police allegations he was a drug courier.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That... was the only reasonable thing President Duterte could have said, under the circumstances.

But when you give police the authority to act with extreme violence, you are giving them the power to act illegally, with impunity, and not serve and protect the community.

Israel to High Court: Law seizing Palestinian land is humane response to 'distress' of thousands of settlers

The state on Monday asked the High Court of Justice to reject legal challenges to a controversial law that would allow for the retroactive expropriation of land owned by Palestinians in West Bank settlements. It called the law “a humane, proportional and reasonable response to the genuine distress of Israeli residents.”

In seeking to persuade the court to reject the legal challenges – filed by Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations – the state argued that the “practical alternative” to the law is the maintenance of the existing situation, which the state said is disruptive to the lives of “hundreds of families” in settlements, including families who built homes based on representations by government authorities that it was permissible.

The state added that the law is constitutional under Israeli law and also meets the requirements of international law.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable!!

The New Trump: War President

Life with Deterrence

In the meantime, the White House needs to calm down and learn to live with mutual deterrence. That conclusion is surprisingly being reached even by some traditional hawks.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Eliot Cohen, a co-founder of the Project for a New American Century, states flatly, “The United States is simply not ready for a war in Korea, even if one were the lesser of two evils. . . . The American military may have the aircraft to hammer North Korean nuclear sites, but it is also fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, and returning to Europe to bolster deterrence there. . . . This could, in other words, all turn out much worse than even the president’s wary advisers, who know war (though far less ferocious war than this would likely be) may think.”

The Mini-Skirt Deception: How McMaster Got His Afghan ‘Surge’A photo of Soviet era Afghanistan won Trump over

According to reports, Gen. H. R. McMaster convinced President Trump to give up his longstanding opposition to the Afghan war by showing him this photograph, below, of Afghan women in what the media are describing as “miniskirts.” As the Washington Post put it:

“One of the ways McMaster tried to persuade Trump to recommit to the effort was by convincing him that Afghanistan was not a hopeless place. Haley Demands IAEA Launch New Inspections of Iran Military Sites

Heading to Vienna to meet with officials at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley intends to demand that the agency begin conducting thorough inspections of Iranian military sites, claiming the P5+1 deal gives them authority “to look at any suspicious sites.”

This is likely to be a matter of serious dispute, as before the P5+1 deal was signed, the IAEA had already confirmed all issues surrounding Iran’s military sites were resolved, and the public version of the P5+1 text does not give them any access to random military sites for inspections.

Despite Haley’s claim that the IAEA has such authority, she goes on to accuse Iran of having something to hide, likely because she knows full well Iran isn’t going to comply with these demands, even if the IAEA capitulates and asks for access to the sites.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ambassador Haley has obviously been given her "marching orders" from Tel Aviv, through President Trump, that she has to find some way to destroy that fragile element of trust between Iran and the rest of the signatories of the P5+1, by forcing Iran to walk away from the deal, as a prelude to a US-generated war against it.

Israel demonizes Iran as its "existential enemy" in the Middle East, and wants to see it regime-changed, ASAP (but only, of course, at the costs of American blood and American money).

Should the US wage war against Iran, however, it will most probably be meeting a formidable foe here, and that will be Russia, whose politicians and military have stated, consistently, that should Iran be attacked, Russia will come to its aid militarily.

Right now, the US military does not have the troop strength; the money; the weaponry; or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia.

I hope to heaven that there are some realists in the Pentagon who understand this, and will warn President Trump against such a potential colossal military misadventure.

US, North Korea Clash at UN Forum Over Nuclear ArmsAmbassador: US Ready to Use 'Full Range of Capabilities' Against North Korea

ensions between the US and North Korea are rising again today, at a UN Conference on Disarmament, as both sides played up the threat posed by the other, and the necessity of preparing a response to the other’s “aggression.”

US Disarmament Ambassador Robert Wood was eager to emphasize the “growing threat” of North Korea, vowing that the US would use “the full range of capabilities” at its disposal to deal with North Korea, which he declared a top priority for the US.

North Korea’s own envoy insisted that their efforts to develop a nuclear deterrence was fully justifiable in the face of “apparent and real threats” from the US, noting that the US had made “constant nuclear threats” against North Korea.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are 8 more days of the Joint US/South Korean/Japanese naval exercises on and around the North Korean peninsula: these drills end on 31 August.

If nothing goes bang/boom, from North Korea (or if there is no false flag created to be blamed against it), I will consider that nothing less than an absolute miracle here.

But I am deeply concerned about there being an attempt to provoke Kim Jung Un to the point where he feels it absolutely necessary to respond, militarily, in order not to lose "face", which is a very important component of Asian politics.

North Korea has demonstrated restraint here, but the question of "for how long?!?" is an open one.

No End in Sight for US War in Afghanistan

Starting with the 2001 invasion, the US war in Afghanistan is now 16 years in: as President Trump pointed out in last night’s speech, the longest war in American history. Even President Trump thought this was excessively long, admitting that “my original instinct was to pull out.”

But the US isn’t pulling out. Instead, President Trump recommitted the US to a new round of escalation with no concrete end conditions, and formally disavowed a “time-based” approach. He added that he doesn’t think the US should publicly announce the dates for ending their “military options.”

The reality behind this rhetoric, though, is that once again any pretense of the Afghan War ending is out the window, and the seemingly endless war again has no end in sight. Trump has laid the ground for reckless new escalations, and in presenting 9/11 and the Iraq withdrawal as justification, is committed to staying.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am profoundly disappointed in President Trump's decision to continue this horrific, wasteful conflict, but apparently, his "president whisperers", Kelly, Mattis, and Mc Masters, have somehow convinced him that this is, in spite of all the blood and money spent, "winnable", 16 years on.

Of course, there is the billion dollar opium poppy trade to be supported by the US military for various US alphabet soup agencies for programs over which Congress has utterly no oversight:

Images: American troops guarding Afghani poppy fields

And there is, of course, that embarrassment of riches from Afghan minerals (if only we could get the Afghanis "pacified enough" to mine them, which will, allegedly pay for the continued US/NATO occupation in this country);

$1 Trillion Trove of Rare Minerals Revealed Under Afghanistan

How in the name of heaven President Trump and Mc Master, Kelly, and Mattis believe they can change the course of this horrific war is absolutely beyond me; I think this coming surge in troop strength had more to do with the fear of not wanting to say we've lost this than a concrete, workable plan to win this war, because history has shown that everything we've done in Afghanistan to date has not worked.

Jury refuses to convict in Bundy ranch standoff

A federal jury in Las Vegas refused Tuesday to convict four defendants who were retried on accusations that they threatened and assaulted federal agents by wielding assault weapons in a 2014 confrontation to stop a cattle roundup near the Nevada ranch of states' rights figure Cliven Bundy.

In a stunning setback to federal prosecutors planning to try the Bundy family patriarch and two adult sons later this year, the jury acquitted Ricky Lovelien and Steven Stewart of all 10 charges, and delivered not-guilty findings on most charges against Scott Drexler and Eric Parker.

More than 30 defendants' supporters in the courtroom broke into applause after Chief U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro ordered Lovelien and Stewart freed immediately and set Wednesday morning hearings to decide if Parker and Drexler should remain jailed pending a government decision whether to seek a third trial.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The judge did everything possible to throw the trial to the prosecutors, but the jury saw through it all.

F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Squadrons Will Encircle North Korea

As many as 100 more F-35 joint strike fighters could be summoned to the Korean Peninsula to support allies in South Korea and Japan against the nuclear and ballistic missile threat posed by North Korea, according to recent media reports.
F-35A jets forming the US Air Force’s 34th Fighter Squadron are slated to deploy to Iwakuni, Japan, and Osan Air Force Base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, by the end of the year, UPI reports, citing South Korea’s Yonhap News.

The F-35 force operating proximate to South Korean and Japanese airspace is poised to be strengthened by Seoul’s agreement to buy 40 of the multi-role joint strike fighters. The jets are slated for delivery by 2021, the UPI report added.

Japan has already agreed to purchase 42 F-35s from Lockheed Martin.

Webmaster's Commentary:

North Korea Finishes Preparation for Guam Strike - Embassy in Russia

The charge d’affaires of the North Korean embassy in Russia told Sputnik that Pyongyang has finished preparationg for a strike on the US territory of Guam and is ready to carry it out in case of a "provocation."
The US must stop pressuring North Korea, the North Korean embassy's charge d’affaires Jin Jong Hyop said, emphasizing that whether there is a war on the Korean Peninsula depends on Washington.

"As you know, we have completed the preparation of the Guam strike. Everything will depend on whether the United States acts sensibly or not. If they do not do so, they will be shamed yet again on the Korean Peninsula in front of the whole world," Jin Jong Hyop said.

"They must stop blatant provocations and unilateral pressure," Jin Jong Hyop said. "This will determine whether there will be a war on the Korean peninsula or not."

Webmaster's Commentary:

To the COs in charge of these drills; please be aware that Kim Jung Un interprets these navel maneuvers as practice/prelude for an invasion of North Korea

Any miscommunication, any stupid act, could trigger this guy into launching whatever he has, and thousands in Japan and South Korea will most likely die as a result.

This is why I read sputniknews.com; rt.com; presstv.com; and farsnews.com in English; to figure out what is actually going on when the US corporate press chooses not to tell me what is going on.

And that, must usually, is 24/7.

HOW GOOGLE IS SECRETLY RECORDING YOU THROUGH YOUR MOBILE, MONITORING MILLIONS OF CONVERSATIONS EVERY DAY AND STORING THE CREEPY AUDIO FILES

DID you know that Google has been recording you without your knowledge?

The technology giant has effectively turned millions of its users' smartphones into listening devices that can capture intimate conversations - even when they aren't in the room.

If you run Android software on your smartphone, Google may have been recording you every day - without you knowing

If you own an Android phone, it's likely that you've used Google's Assistant, which is similar to Apple's Siri.

Google says it only turns on and begins recording when you utter the words "OK Google".

But a Sun investigation has found that the virtual assistant is a little hard of hearing.

In some cases, just saying "OK" in conversation prompted it to switch on your phone and record around 20 seconds of audio.

It regularly switches on the microphone as you go about your day-to-day activities, none the wiser.

Understanding this, I am about ready to go back to a 2-way radio.
