School in crisis as all the teachers quit over ‘impossible’ workload

Sixteen teachers, including an acting head, cover staff and a number of staff with more than 20 years’ service, have left Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School, Bristol, since the start of the academic year last September.

The final seven walked out yesterday on the last day of term.

A union representative blamed the “impossible” workload imposed by executive head Louisa Wilson.

The US Empire, the CIA, and the NGOs

The CIA recruited the Muslim Brotherhood to fight a proxy war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, which led to the withdrawal of the Soviets from the Hindu Kush. Since then, the CIA used the mercenaries to fight more proxy wars in the Balkans, Chechnya, and Azerbaijan. Due to the wars of aggression against Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen the US and its vassal states created sectarian violence that led to civil wars. Right now, the CIA and the Muslim Brotherhood are present in the form of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

California College Chancellor Wants To Abolish Algebra Requirement, Calls It A ‘Civil Rights Issue’

The chancellor of California’s community college system said he wants to abolish the college algebra requirement and called it a “civil rights issue” in a Wednesday interview.

Eloy Ortiz Oakley, chancellor of California Community Colleges, made the argument while speaking with NPR. He pegged algebraas overly burdensome due to the disproportionate rate at which it prevents students from graduating from community colleges; nearly 50 percent of community college students do not complete their math requirement.

“This is a civil rights issue, but this is also something that plagues all Americans — particularly low-income Americans,” said Oakley. “If you think about all the underemployed or unemployed Americans in this country who cannot connect to a job in this economy — which is unforgiving of those students who don’t have a credential — the biggest barrier for them is this algebra requirement. It’s what has kept them from achieving a credential.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

So ... it's your civil right to be stupid?!?

The Student Loan Bubble and Economic Collapse

The inevitable collapse of the student loan “market” and with it the takedown of many higher educational institutions will be one of the happiest and much needed events to look forward to in the coming months/years. Whether the student loan bubble bursts on its own or implodes due to a general economic collapse, does not matter as long as higher education is dealt a death blow and can no longer be a conduit of socialist and egalitarian nonsense for the inculcation of young minds.

Black Lives Matter cost University of Missouri millions

College campuses have long been ruled by big government-loving socialists.

When Donald Trump announced his candidacy, these institutions became the epicenter of anti-Trump protests.
But now, one major university is facing the consequences, and it comes with a hefty price tag.
The University of Missouri made national headlines in 2015 when the campus erupted in Black Lives Matter protests.

Now, reports show that freshman enrollment dropped 23% from 2015 to 2016.

It just dropped another 16% for the coming 2017 fall term and overall enrollment at the Columbia campus is at its lowest in nearly a decade.

Some reports estimate the drop in enrollment could cost the school as much as $14.5 million.

The Kansas City Star reports:

The University of Missouri expects to cut 400 positions, possibly including nearly 100 layoffs, to manage significant losses in state revenue and tuition dollars.

Student loan tsunami on the horizon:  Of $847 billion in Direct Loan program, only $535 billion is actually being paid back at the moment.

The amount of student debt continues to grow like a skyscraper reaching for the clouds. There seems to be an unlimited amount of student debt that college students are willing to take. As of today, there is $1.44 trillion in student debt outstanding. But how much of this is being actively serviced? After all, if you take out a mortgage or auto loan you start paying on it right off the bat. You will be surprised at the small amount of student debt that is actually being paid back at the moment. Young Americans that are already cash strapped are going to get even more budget tightening once they graduate and need to pay back the large amounts of loans they have taken on.

How 1,000s Of Student Loans Worth Billions Are Getting Erased On A Technicality

Now, ordinarily when a student defaults on their loan, NCF simply files a lawsuit in local or state court as a means for negotiating a settlement or payment plan with the borrower. Often times, NCF wins these cases automatically as the borrowers don't even bother to show up for their court date. In cases like that, NCF can use their court victory to garnish wages and/or federal benefits from entitlement programs like Social Security which can haunt borrowers for decades (we actually wrote about it here: Baby Boomers Increasingly Having Social Security Checks Garnished To Cover Student Loan Payments).

That said, NCF is increasingly finding that, much like the subprime mortgage debacle from 10 years ago, student lending institutions apparently had a really hard time keeping tracking of paperwork over the years and/or processed deeply flawed contracts with incomplete ownership records and mass-produced documentation (who can forget that whole robo-signing catastrophe).

Earth’s Economy Glorifies Waste, Exploitation, Debt, Expediency and Magical Thinking

Humanity appears to default to magical thinking when faced with untenable situations that demand systemic change.

How would extraterrestrial anthropologists characterize Earth’s dominant socio-economic system? It’s not difficult to imagine their dismaying report:

“Earth’s economy glorifies waste. Its economists rejoice when a product is disposed as waste and replaced with a new product. This waste is perversely labeled ‘growth.’

The stripping of the planet’s oceans for a few favored species of edible fish is also considered ‘growth’ as the process of destroying the ocean ecosystem generates sales of the desired seafood.

Even more perversely, the resulting shortages are also causes of rejoicing by the planet’s elites, as their ability to purchase the now-scarce resources boosts their social status and grandiose sense of self-worth.

This glorification of waste is the same dynamic that destroyed the civilization on Zork.

REVEALED: Why you’re more likely to be a criminal if you’re born in the 70s

Researchers at Princeton University and Brown University uncovered a link between exposure to lead in peoples’ younger years and criminal behaviour.

The material was a key component in paint during the 1960s and 1970s, before it was banned from house paint in 1976.

Leaded gasoline was also phased out between 1979 and 1986.

Exposure to lead in preschool years significantly increases the likelihood children will be suspended or incarcerated during school, the study found.

They correlated falling rates of antisocial behaviour with the decline in lead paint used over the past few decades.

Researchers discovered children aged up to six-years-old who had been exposed to lead showed displayed more aggressive behaviour, had trouble paying attention and exhibited poorer thinking skills and impulse control.

Links have been established between getting into trouble in school and going on to be involved in crime as adults.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You have to wonder if this kind of exposure leads to the utter craziness we see on display in Washington DC these days!!

The dumbing of an age: America’s public schools are failing, and here are the facts to prove it

When compared with other countries in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), the United States has abysmal scores. This cross-national survey gauges the knowledge and skills of 15-year old students in the country, and going by the most recent results from 2015, they’re lagging behind their foreign counterparts. Out of 71 countries, the U.S. ranked 38th place in math and 24th place in science.

The aforementioned figures are nothing short of depressing, especially when you consider that education is the most expensive item in 41 state budgets, and that the Department of Education has an annual spending budget of $73 billion. Just as saddening is the fact that, when adjusted for inflation, the amount of money being spent on each student in American public schools has increased by a staggering 663 percent.

14 Facts That Prove That America’s Absolutely Pathetic System Of Public Education Deserves An ‘F’ Grade

One thing that almost everyone can agree upon is that our system of public education is broken. We spend far more money on public education than anyone else in the world, and yet the results are depressing to say the least. Considering how much we are putting into education, we should be producing the best students on the entire planet, but it just isn’t happening. Personally, I attended public schools from kindergarten all the way up through law school, and the quality of education that I received was extremely poor. Even on the collegiate level, most of the courses were so “dumbed down” that even the family dog could have passed them. And of course millions of other people all over the country would say the same sorts of things about their own educations. Many refer to what is happening to our society as “the dumbing down of America”, and if we don’t get things fixed the United States is on course to become a second class nation.

Baltimore has turned into a Democratic wasteland with six schools that can’t even produce a single student proficient in English or math

An investigation by Project Baltimore found that five high schools and one middle school in the district should pretty much be shut down at this point because they’re serving no useful purpose whatsoever. Booker T. Washington Middle School, Frederick Douglass High School, Achievement Academy at Harbor City, New Era Academy, Excel Academy at Francis M. Wood High, and New Hope Academy all failed to pass even just one student that met the minimum requirements for exceptional proficiency in either of the two subjects.

Frederick Douglass High School had the worst results out of all six schools. With 185 students in total, a shocking 165 of them achieved a 1/5 on the proficiency scale, with 1 indicating that these students in no way met proficiency expectations. Nineteen students partially met expectations ranking at 2/5, but were still considered to be not proficient. Only one student scored a 3/5 for “approaching expectations,” though even this one was dubbed not proficient.

Turkey to stop teaching Darwin’s theory of evolution in high schools

TURKEY will stop teaching Darwin’s theory of evolution in high schools, deeming it controversial and difficult to understand, a senior education official says.

Critics say President Tayyip Erdogan and the Islamist-rooted AK Party are undermining modern Turkey’s secular foundations by pushing a conservative agenda, including tighter regulation of alcohol and other restrictions, since coming to power in 2002.

A chapter entitled Beginning of Life and Evolution will be deleted from the standard biology textbooks used in schools and the material will be available only to students who go on to university studies from age 18 or 19, Alparslan Durmus, head of the national education board said in an online address this week.

IN RHODE ISLAND, STUDENTS AND PARENTS MUST LET SCHOOLS SPY ON THEM DAY AND NIGHT THROUGH THEIR LAPTOPS

A majority of the Rhode Island school districts with "1-1" programs where each student is issued a laptop have a blanket policy of spying on the students and everything they do on their laptops, during, before and after school hours, on or off school premises, without any evidence (or even suspicion ) of wrongdoing.

The schools analogize this to school locker searches, in which students are denied any Fourth Amendment protections. But that (very dubious) principle is being stretched beyond the breaking point, as school lockers are in schools, whereas these laptop searches are being carried out remotely, everywhere, anywhere.

This isn't so different from the policies asserted by employers who require workers to take devices home, then assert the right to spy on them using those devices, installing their own certificates so they can stage "man-in-the-middle" interceptions of private sessions between employees and their email providers, financial institutions, etc.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How "1984" of Rhode Island!!

Were I a parent with a kid in school where these devices are mandatory, I would immediately pull that kid out of that school, and put them in a private school where such policy does not exist.

Failing that, because of the cost, I would "vote with my feet", and move to another state where this policy is not pursued.

High Schools Drop "Valedictorian" Distinction Fearing Lower-Ranked Kids May Feel 'Triggered'

We've spent a fair amount of time over the past several years writing about the 'participation trophy generation' (a.k.a. You see millennials, despite what your enabling handlers (a.k.a. In fact, taking a moment to truly internalize the following quote from our favorite movie would serve you well.

KIDS HORRIFIED AFTER COPS HOLD MOCK CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING DRILL, WITHOUT SAYING IT’S A DRILL

The Florida Highway Patrol is reviewing its presence at the Girls State Program after troopers conducted a kidnapping/human trafficking drill which went “horribly wrong” according to WFTV News Channel 9.

The girl’s program is attended by some of best and brightest high-schoolers Florida has to offer. “Everyone who’s going is at the top of their class,” Cameron Carlyle said describing the high-quality candidates who attend the elite leadership camp. But no amount of education could have prepared the girls for what happened on the last night of their training.

The Girls State director along with six Florida State Troopers, all female, pulled an attendee aside and told her she would be participating in a kidnapping drill, one which highlighted the real-world problem of sex trafficking. Under the cover of secrecy, the volunteer named “Katrina” was taken to a safe place. Thereafter, roll call was taken with the remaining girls.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I a parent of one of these young women, I would have pulled my daughter out of that program, and their school, so quickly that it would make heads spin.

Sexual trafficking is a serious problem.

That being said, what the State Troopers should have done was to educate these young women about how they can avoid getting into situations where something like this could happen, and how to fight back, if they are abducted.
