Student bans threaten free speech

Free speech is under growing threat at British universities, with serious restrictions on expression at more than half of campuses.

Student unions or universities banned speakers, pressure groups, types of behaviour, songs and even hand gestures on 55 per cent of campuses last year, up from 41 per cent in 2014, according to a new analysis.

Some curbs on free expression were in place at 90 per cent of campuses, compared with 80 per cent the previous year, with the elite Russell Group universities showing high levels of intolerance.

Universities 'are killing free speech', says group of leading academics

Universities are "killing free speech" by banning anything that causes offence, a group of leading academics have warned.

Students are being denied the opportunity to debate opposing views due to political correctness and censorship, the group argued in a letter published in The Telegraph.

Academics led by Frank Furedi, a professor at the University of Canterbury, said universities see students as customers and do not dare to stand against them.

The letter argued universities are curtailing freedom of speech “like never before” and also concluded that “students who are offended by opposing views are perhaps not yet ready to be at university”.

Sausalito Marin City School District, just north of San Francisco, has ditched fried, greasy foods for healthy ones that are free of genetically modified organisms (GMOs)provided by Conscious Kitchen. The program was created by Turning Green, a nonprofit dedicated to “a systemic transformation of school dining, to the health and wellness of our children, and to a thriving future for our planet.” [1]

“FLOSN” is the foundation of Conscious Kitchen – Fresh, Local, Organic, Seasonal, Non-GMO.

The organic food is being served to 500 students at Bayside MLK Jr. Academy and the Willow Academy in Sausalito.

“Students everywhere are vulnerable to pesticide residues and unsafe environmental toxins,” says Judi Shils, Turning Green’s founder. “Not only does this program far exceed USDA nutritional standards, but it ties the health of our children to the health of our planet. It’s the first program to say that fundamentally, you cannot have one without the other.” [2]

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a brilliant program, teaching kids about nutrition and the dangers of eating GMOs; which is why Monsanto is probably doing its best to fight the program and shut it down permanently.

And one of the most interesting advantages of this program is the reality that it "reduced disciplinary issues". That breathes new life into that phrase "you are what you eat."

Violence Against Anti-Zionist Protesters At Presidential Campaign Rallies Needs To Be Preempted

The neocons seem very happy that the heckler who shouted "Marco Rubio is owned by Jews!" was violently attacked. The guy behind the heckler, who looked literally like Brutus from the Popeye cartoons, immediately attacked the heckler and pulled him to the ground, to cheers from the crowd and laughs from Rubio himself. It's outrageous how quickly these thugs resort to violence, it's very disgusting. When I shouted at Donald Trump about the Israelis arrested on 9/11, I wasn't attacked at all, despite being surrounded by 9,000 Trump fans whom Trump himself called 'maniacs' at that very rally. I will explain why. I took several preemptive measures. Common sense warns us to take action in order to prevent an anticipated event from happening.

?9-tetrahydrocannabinol (commonly referred to as “?9-THC,” “D9-THC,” “d9-THC” or simply “THC”) is a neutral cannabinoid, well known for being strongly psychoactive. Of all the scientific discoveries that have been made about THC, probably the single most important was how THC enabled scientists to discover the existence of the Endocannabinoid system in vertebrate animals (including humans): a critical part of physiology that, up until then, was unknown. THC has been shown to be effective in the treatment of a variety of ailments and disorders including pain, tumors, nausea and ADHD.

Broken Promises On Display At Native American Treaties Exhibit

For centuries, treaties have defined the relationship between many Native American nations and the U.S. More than 370 ratified treaties have helped the U.S. expand its territory and led to many broken promises made to American Indians.

A rare exhibit of such treaties at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., looks back at this history. It currently features one of the first compacts between the U.S. and Native American nations – the Treaty of Canandaigua.

EXCLUSIVE: Textbook sales leader says national Common Core education standards are 'all about the money' as teacher insists bureaucrats created a 'new f**king system that f**king sucks to sell more books'

The guerrilla video crew that exposed Obamaphone cheaters and shut down the left-wing advocacy group ACORN is at it again, this time hammering the 'Common Core' education standards as a scheme for publishers to sell more textbooks.

The West Coast sales manager from one of the nation's biggest school book sellers, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, told an undercover muckraker with Project Veritas that 'I hate kids.'

'I'm in it to sell books,' Dianne Barrow said of her advocacy for Common Core. 'Don't even kid yourself for a heartbeat.'

How we know God is a man: no mother would ever let her children get as out of control as they are on Earth

*hyperlinks/video live at source*

Several years ago, my wife said out of the blue,

"I know God has to be a man."

I paused, thought, and asked, “Why do you say that?”

"Because no mother would ever let her children get as out of control as they are on Earth."

She’s right, as she is about 99% of the time on everything (she’s not good at predicting sports outcomes, so that drives down her average).

The .01% pretend to be “leaders” and wanna-be masters, but they’re nothing more than what my wife also told me several years previous to her proof that God is male.

She said:

"You know, you’re wasting your time trying to end poverty, fix education, fix the economy, and whatever else. This is a planet of children."

I politely asked, “What do you mean?”

Goldman Sachs: Higher Ed Ripe for Disruption

A Goldman Sachs investment research report issued last month paints a very grim picture of the state of American higher education (h/t Bryan Alexander). The bottom line: “returns on a college education are falling,” and quickly.

According to a striking graph included in the report, the average “wage premium” from going to a four-year college (that is, the difference in incomes between college graduates and high school graduates) and college tuition (including room and board) rose in tandem throughout the 1990s. Then, starting in about 2002, something changed—the wage premium growth started growing more slowly, even as tuition kept rising as fast as ever.

Parents outraged after Maine high school recruits students to work on Hillary Clinton's campaign as a way to get extra credits

Parents of students at a public high school in Maine are outraged after the institution tried to recruit students to work on Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign this week.

Students at Marshwood High School received an email from the Clinton campaign asking them to sign up for positions as unpaid 'fellows' in order to fill the school community service requirement, reports Fox News.

Tim and Elita Galvin told Fox News that they found the email to their son and other students to be 'disingenuous and sneaky,' and said that both they and their son are not supporters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't have a problem with students being encouraged to participate in the political process, but to direct them to one specific candidate is clearly inappropriate! Native American Indians Occupy Alcatraz Island, 1969-1971

The armed protest and occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon calls to mind a very interesting historical event which occurred on Alcatraz Island in 1969. It seems few people are aware of this very fascinating history. On November 20, 1969, a group of native American Indians commandeered Alcatraz Island off San Francisco to protest the U.S. Government's numerous and egregious violations of treaties with Native American tribes. At one point there were over 100 Indians living on the island. The National Park Service notes that "it would become the longest prolonged occupation of a federal facility by Indian people to this very day."
Supporters would bring out food and supplies by boat to the island. The FBI and military took a "hands off" approach and the standoff didn't end until to June 11, 1971.

Last Year Was an Epic Year for Cannabis – Here are the Best….and the Worst Weed Stories of 2015

Let’s face it: 2015 has been a bumpy ride across the board — government intruded into our private lives by clandestinely passing CISA and laughed in our face by passing the ironically-monikered USA Freedom Act; the Police State kicked into high gear, with cops having killed at least one person in all 50 states by the time Christmas rolled around; and the attack in San Bernardino codified the presidential candidates’ push for war, while threatening to further erode any number of liberties for all of us. And that’s just a taste of what happened in the United States.

In order to narrow focus sufficiently for the confines of a single article, the struggle for cannabis rights earned more victories for the people than ever before, though the State still managed to ruin lives in several stunningly unjustifiable examples.

Following are a mere five stories of the countless wins — and sadly numerous losses — concerning cannabis, that took place in 2015.

Fr. Coughlin's New Years Day Message, 1933: Not Despair, But Hope Of 'Understanding The Flagrant Financial Abuse Of The Rothschild System'

On January 1, 1933, Father Charles E. Coughlin broadcast his New Year's Day message to the American people. He spoke of "the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few, a system of unbridled financial control...No longer shall an awakened American public be lulled into inactivity by empty promises which are impotent to contradict present facts." Coughlin continued, "On the one side shall stand the arrayed and determined forces whose watchword is love. On the other, the entrenched powers of those who believe in exploitation. Time and time again I have enunciated the principle that money must never be used as a medium of control despite the fact that Rothschilds advocated this very thing. You can't keep that philosophy and be a Christian. Time and time again I have brought before this audience that money must not obstruct the exchange of food and clothing and shelter and the necessities of life, although today every High School boy understands that this very thing is happening..

Accounting for the Rise in College Tuition

We develop a quantitative model of higher education to test explanations for the
steep rise in college tuition between 1987 and 2010. The framework extends the qualitymaximizing
college paradigm of Epple, Romano, Sarpca, and Sieg (2013) and embeds
it in an incomplete markets, life-cycle environment. We measure how much changes in
underlying costs, reforms to the Federal Student Loan Program (FSLP), and changes
in the college earnings premium have caused tuition to increase. All these changes
combined generate a 106% rise in net tuition between 1987 and 2010, which more than
accounts for the 78% increase seen in the data. Changes in the FSLP alone generate
a 102% tuition increase, and changes in the college premium generate a 24% increase.
Our findings cast doubt on Baumol’s cost disease as a driver of higher tuition.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There was a recent study, which I will link here, that really nailed why tuition is skyrocketing, and, of course, the answer is the non-dischargeable student debt signed into being by the Clinton Administration. This was, as usual, a huge gift to the banks by the Clinton Administration, and explains why the banks supported Hillary both for Senate and for the Presidency.

After we win: Education’s focus on truth, technology, and love

*hyperlinks/videos live at source*

From ZenGardner, StormCloudsGathering’s The truth about school in 2 minutes:

When We the People have some time to reflect upon our world once we’ve won our global contest against a criminal .01% (documentation in “Truth” section), we’ll demand three obvious transformations for educating our children:

Truth: correct lies of omission and commission in all subjects.
Technology: utilize released technology for optimal human freedom.
Love: in human preference and connected reality, explore/create Life newly in light of expressing love.

Let’s consider each point:

1. Truth: Education, corporate media (including school text publishers), and .01% “leaders” centered in government and money constantly lie in omission and commission. We the People will win because the Emperor’s New Clothes game-changing truths are revealed to anyone who cares to look:

Hillary Clinton Touts Overthrow of Gadhafi, but Doesn’t Mention That Clinton Foundation Donors Did Big Business in Tyrant’s Libya

On Saturday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton again justified the 2011 U.S. policy of regime change in Libya, citing, at least in part, the fact that dictator Moammar Gadhafi had killed Americans.

“We have to continue to do what is necessary when someone like Gadhafi, a despot with American blood on his hands, is overturned,” Clinton said during the weekend’s Democratic presidential debate in Manchester, New Hampshire. “But I’ll tell you what would have happened if we had not joined with our European partners and our Arab partners to assist the people in Libya, you would be looking at Syria.”

But early in the administration, Clinton had championed an allegiance with the Libyan regime under Gadhafi, during a time when some of the major U.S. corporations doing business in Libya were also donating heavy sums to the Clinton Foundation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Do not for a moment imagine that this "pay to play" mentality will suddenly leave her consciousness, if she is able to win (or steal) the election; it will simply continue, unabated. For her and Bill Clinton, inhabiting the White House is simply another way to make millions of dollars through her foundation, and the public be damned.

And this is why we have to bring her past behaviour to the unblinking gaze of documented fact, because, if in fact, past is prologue to the future, we can expect massive international interventionism from a second Clinton presidency.

And has anyone out there had the "male attributes" to ask her if the current post-Ghadaffi situation in Libya, which has been rife with civil war since 2011; whose leadership has been badly factionalised and has just this month created a basis for a national unity government, was the outcome she desired when she green-lit Ghadaffi's assassination?!?

And what about the reality that Libya has become a
second home to ISIS?!?

Because if all I have stated here were not the outcomes Clinton desired as Secretary of State, and were simply "unintended consequences" of her policies here, please consider Libya a thoroughly terrifying, but very real, "prequel" to what a Clinton presidency will look like.

If We Don't Change the Way Money Is Created and Distributed, We Change Nothing

The only real solution in my view is to create and distribute money at the base of the pyramid rather than to those in the top of the pyramid. Many well-intended people want to reform the status quo for all sorts of worthy reasons: to reduce wealth inequality, restore democracy, create good-paying jobs, and so on. All these goals are laudable, but if we don't change the way money is created and distributed, nothing really changes: wealth inequality will keep rising, governance will remain a bidding process of the wealthy, wages will continue stagnating, etc.

Parents and their children stage a class walkout to see Santa after a Jewish mother 'waged war on Christmas' and got their public school to cancel the holiday field trip

A Jewish mother is under attack after she successfully petitioned her child's public school to cancel their annual trip to visit Santa Claus.

The woman, whose name is Talia, has a daughter at Sartorette Elementary School in San Jose, California, did not want her to participate in a kindergarten field trip where the children write letters to Santa then go to deliver them, drink hot chocolate and sit on his lap.

She decided to write a four-page letter to the school committee, and now the decade-long tradition has been canceled by the principal and superintendent.

This move however has angered other parents, who staged a walkout on Friday with their children and took them to see Santa.

Students were told to copy a Muslim statement of faith known as the Shahada which translates to “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah” in Arabic. The assignment included other religious faiths as well. The school claimed the lesson was meant to “illustrate the complexity of the written Arabic language”.

While this specific message the kids were writing is a well known profession of faith for Muslims, it also happens to appear on the flags of the Islamic State.

Silent Spaces? Yale Students Eagerly Sign Petition to Repeal the First Amendment

This pathetic display shows the ivy leaguers at Yale not just signing a petition to do away with the First Amendment, but actually fawning over how wonderful of an idea they all think repealing the First Amendment is because of reasons like if something hurts someone’s feelings, it should not be protected as free speech...

£34,000-a-year girls' boarding school uses finger vein scanners to check pupils in for lessons and even lunch

A £34,000-a-year girls' boarding school is using finger-vein scanners to check pupils in for lessons and even lunch, it has been revealed.

Pupils at the well respected St Mary's School Ascot in Berkshire are registered for the day by passing one of their fingers over a scanner, which identifies them from their pattern of veins.

The school, which is the UK’s first to use the technology to keep track of pupils, is warned if pupils are missing - and expects them to scan their fingers whenever they exit or enter the school grounds.

Politically Correct School Bans Huckleberry Finn – the Mark Twain Classic That Critiqued Slavery – for Using the “N” Word

History is being rewritten left and right to avoid hurting anyone’s feelings in this country.

Now a school in Philadelphia recently announced that it was removing Huckleberry Finn, the Mark Twain novel written in 1885 that ranks as one of the all-time great American novels ever, from its classroom curriculum…

Because the book dares, in its historical accuracy, to include use of the “N” word.

Of course, the book is poignantly ahead of its time in its critique of slavery, and depicts a boy who befriends a slave and goes through many difficulties to help him reach freedom…

But the truth stopped mattering a long time ago in America.

LA schools closed due to credible ‘threat;’ 640,000 students kept at home

Los Angeles schools were closed “in an abundance of caution” Tuesday after authorities received what was described as a credible terror threat — resulting in more than half a million children being kept home.

It is “important that I take the precaution based on what has happened recently and what has happened in the past,” Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Ramon Cortines said, explaining the move to shutter schools in the light of a heightened concern following recent mass shootings and a terror attack in San Bernardino, California.

Cortines said he wants to see the more than one thousand schools in the district searched “to make sure that it is safe for children and safe for staff to be there on Wednesday.” He also said that while schools get “threats all the time,” the circumstances around this particular one made it a “rare threat,” without further elaborating.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Cui bono?!? Who benefits from this?!?

I would submit that perhaps those in power, in California and beyond, want the American people psychologically "infected" with the same "learned hopelessness" and fear that was administered to prisoners of war in Abu Ghraib, and today at Gitmo, but on a much more finely-adjusted, gradual scale, without the beatings, waterboardings, or NG tube feedings.

And where are we most vulnerable in our feelings?!?

It's about our kids, who we love like crazy.

Mike and I don't have children of our own, but do have some wonderful children in our extended family we love very much; and we worry about the quality of their future greatly, even though they have a terrific mom and dad.

So now, the message to parents in Los Angeles, and across the country is, you can no longer protect your kids from terror or violence in school. WE can barely manage to do that. The message is, be fearful, and be fearful 24/7, so that the fear absolutely impedes your ability to make sound judgements, and destroys your critical thinking abilities.

That appears to be the desired outcome here.

So what draconian measures will be taken in public schools in LA?!? Will we see armed guards, with guns chambered, installed in every classroom, including kindergarten?!?

Oh yes, THAT is going to contribute to the emotional comfort, and learning capabilities of our kids in public schools!!

But what I have described above may well become the "new normal" for (alleged) public education in this country, after this incident. After all, it's "for the children".

Terms 'Christmas' and 'Thanksgiving' banned at school

A Brooklyn principal is generating controversy for her removal of certain traditions at her school.

The New York Post reports that Eujin Kim of PS 169 has put an end to recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance as well as references to Santa Claus, Christmas, and Thanksgiving.

In fact, the latter terms are being broadly referred to as "winter celebrations" and the "harvest festival," respectively.
