Nezavisimaya Gazeta: French disappointed in Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron's ratings are declining, with his performance approved by just 36% of the population, Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes citing the results of a survey conducted by the Ifop research center. Macron’s popularity rating reached a new low, having fallen by almost 20 points compared to July when his performance was approved by 54% of Frenchmen. According to local media, even Francois Hollande, one of the most unpopular French leaders, did not encounter such public discontent during the first 100 days of his presidency. Many tend to link Macron’s growing unpopularity to his reforms, particularly, with the liberal economic agenda and plans to reduce the country’s budget deficit. Macron’s decision to implement the most painful reforms at the beginning of his five-year presidential term looks quite logical, Sergey Fyodorov, Leading Research Fellow at the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for European Studies, told the paper.

Migrants & Refugees Have Tried To Breach UK Border 17,000 Times This Year – France

Migrants and refugees have made up to 17,000 attempts to jump aboard UK-bound lorries and trains since January, according to the French Interior Ministry.

US Sanctions — a Looney Tunes Bad Remake

By F. William Engdahl
5 Aug 2017

The ever-so-wise members of the Congress of the United States have just passed one of the most bizarre pieces of legislation in US history. Unilaterally, it makes illegal and severely punishable investments by European companies in international energy projects where Russia is involved. But it does far more. Unlike earlier US sanctions acts, the EU countries were not even consulted on the new act. It may well be that the bill, HR-3364: Countering Americas Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (sic) and its Senate counterpart will mark the irreversible decline of the United States as a global power and forge new ties between Russia, China, Iran and, yes, the major states of the EU including Germany .

What the Act says
That's All Folks!

Air France expands North Korea no-fly zone after missile miss

Air France-KLM (AIRF.PA) has expanded its no-fly zone over North Korea after one of its jets flew past the location where an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) splashed down 10 minutes later, an airline spokesman said on Thursday.

Air France's flight 293, a Boeing (BA.N) 777 carrying 323 people from Tokyo to Paris, missed North Korea's latest ICBM as it fell to earth on July 28 by about 100 km (60 miles), the spokesman said, citing flight data provided by Japan.

Air France-KLM flies direct to Tokyo and Osaka and the expansion of the no-fly zone could make the flights 10 minutes to 30 minutes longer, depending on the direction, the spokesman said.

North Korea said on Saturday its latest ICBM test proved its ability to strike America's mainland, drawing a sharp warning from U.S. President Donald Trump and a rebuke from China.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It's got to be a pain for business passengers with schedules to keep, but under the circumstances, I understand Air France/KLM's decision to do this completely.

‘DISGUSTING’ Fury as French embassy uses Passchendaele to say EU 'brought peace' to Europe

On its official Twitter account, the embassy posted to its 13,000 followers: “Today we commemorate #Passchendaele100. An opportunity to cherish peace, unity and solidarity brought by the EU.”

But the message immediately sparked fury amongst social media users, who accused French diplomats of politicising a 100-year-old tragedy and of wilfully trying to rewrite history in favour of the EU project.

On July 26th, the French foreign ministry issued a declaration about the package of new sanctions targeting Russia and Iran making its way through Congress to President Trump’s desk in the Oval Office.

In the estimation of the French foreign ministry, “the extraterritorial scope of [the sanctions] appears to be unlawful under international law.” The statement outlined the need for the Europeans to “adapt our national mechanisms and update European mechanisms” to protect themselves from the U.S. legislation. The French foreign ministry called for coordination with European partners to address American overreach.

Macron Is Setting Himself up as the Go-between Putin and Trump

French President Emmanuel Macron has positioned himself as a possible go-between in facilitating a reduction of tensions between the U.S. and Russia, a move that makes sense for France but may anger Official Washington’s hawks who want to escalate the New Cold War. I interviewed Paris-based journalist and historian Diana Johnstone about Trump’s recent visit to Paris. Johnstone is the author of From Mad to Madness: Inside the Pentagon’s Nuclear War Planning Machine, recounting the experiences of her father, Paul Johnstone, as a senior analyst in the Pentagon’s Strategic Weapons Evaluation Group and a co-author of the Pentagon Papers. The French Government Tried To Build A Migrant Shelter In This Small Town – Residents Responded By Building A Wall Around It

When most people consider how many migrants have entered Europe in recent years, they probably assume that the whole continent is a beacon of tolerance and love for foreigners who are seeking a better way of life. But a more accurate picture of Europe would suggest that the only thing most Europeans are tolerant of, is their corrupt governments who aren’t willing to close the borders. That tolerance is quickly wearing thin however, as most Westerners reject the migrants, who are burdening the social fabric of their communities.

Which would explain a recent incident in the French town of Séméac, where the government recently bought a hotel in the hopes of turning it into a migrant shelter.

LEADERS OF LIBYA’S STRONGEST FACTIONS SIGN ACCORD IN PARIS

The French President Emmanual Macron has hosted the two most influential leaders in Libya in what is being called an attempt to re-unite the totally fractured failed state that has plagued Libyan politics since 2011 when the revolutionary leader Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown during a NATO invasion.

In reality, Macron is engaging in a big face-saving exercise on two fronts. Although the NATO war on Libya was largely authored and agitated for by Hillary Clinton, because of Barack Obama’s apparent reticence to associate himself with the kind of aggressive western war against a Muslim majority country that many at the time still associated with George W. Bush, French President Nicholas Sarkozy became the public cheerleader for the disastrous war, complete with a premature ‘Mission Accomplished’ moment in Tripoli along with then British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Fingers crossed, that this can create some degree of stability in Libya, after the absolute fiasco of the Clinton-inspired NATO invasion, which saw to it the Ghaddafi got assassinated.

The third issue is cyber security which was understandably given considerable attention. The presidents agreed that this area is becoming ever more dangerous. Of course, President Trump also mentioned that certain circles in the United States keep on spinning the issue of Russia’s interference in the US elections even though they are unable to prove that.

“Greater Israel” in the Making? Israel to Control Mediterranean From Beirut to Gaza?

FALSEHOOD IN WAR-TIME: Propaganda Lies of the First World War by Arthur Ponsonby MP, 1928

"The use of the weapon of falsehood is more necessary in a country where military conscription is not the law of the land than in countries where the manhood of the nation is automatically drafted into the Army, Navy, or Air Service. The public can be worked up emotionally by sham ideals. A sort of collective hysteria spreads and rises until finally it gets the better of sober people and reputable newspapers".

UK AND FRANCE PROPOSE AUTOMATED CENSORSHIP OF ONLINE CONTENT

By OpenRightsGroup: Theresa May and Emmanuel Macron’s plans to make Internet companies liable for ‘extremist’ content on their platforms are fraught with challenges. They entail automated censorship, risking the removal of unobjectionable content and harming everyone’s right to free expression.

The Government quietly announced Tuesday June 13th that Theresa May and the French President Emmanuel Macron will talk today about making tech companies legally liable if they “fail to remove unacceptable content”. The UK and France would work with tech companies “to develop tools to identify and remove harmful material automatically”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What concerns me here is, in the worlds of Macron and May, when does truth become "objectionable", to the point of even becoming criminal?!?

I am a Christian pacifist activist, who never advocates violence as a way to resolve issues, and constantly exhorts her government to use hard-won moral negotiations as the best way of resolving geopolitical issues.

Probably neither May nor Macron like my reporting on the Saudi genocide in Yemen, enabled by the US military (and BTW, who, please, sold the Saudis the white phosphorus which they are using in Yemen?!?); would that be consigned to the bit bucket, courtesy of their algorithms?!?

Radicalism doesn't come from nothing. There are those in the West who would assure you that this is true, but it is not; it comes from living in a Western-sponsored corrupt dictatorship, or seeing your child, your auntie, your mom, your brother, your friends, being blown to smithereens, courtesy of a drone weapon, as the US, France, and the UK expropriate resources to which they have no moral right, then make sure those resources are only sold in "acceptable" currencies.

So to Prime Minister May, President Macron, and President Trump, a word, please. The US, the UK, and France have some of the finest universities, and scientific minds in the world. Together, you could create a consortium developing usable, workable alternative energy which could, collectively, be patented as a revenue stream, to be divided equally among your countries, and provide a very healthy stipend for each university which was part of this process.

Such a development would be an absolute game-changer, and lead to other significant scientific discoveries as well; or, your countries can continue to murder and regime change in order to control the fossil fuel and mineral or elemental resources (like lithium), as you have for decades.

A van driver died on the highway to the French port of Calais in an accident caused by a roadblock of tree trunks set up by migrants. Nine Eritrean nationals have been detained in connection with the incident, according to local official.

The Polish-registered vehicle rammed into one of the three trucks which stopped in front of the roadblock, catching fire.

Paris attack on police vehicle on Champs-Elysees

A man rammed his car into a police vehicle in Paris' Champs-Elysees shopping district Monday, prompting a fiery explosion, and was killed in the incident, authorities said. France's anti-terrorism prosecutor opened an investigation.

Interior Minister Gerard Collomb told reporters near the scene that the driver died after the "attempted attack" on security forces. He said the car was carrying explosives.

No police officers or passers-by were hurt, the Paris police department said. It is unclear why the attacker drove into police, though the Interior Ministry spokesman said the incident was apparently deliberate.

Analysis: Desire for change saw the French ready to elect 'goats, donkeys and hippos'

Analysts and politicians have suggested that French voters would have elected goats, donkeys or even hippos, such is their desire for change in France and for new President Emmanuel Macron to succeed.

The theory has been aired several times over the last week: French voters were so desperate for change and for new President Emmanuel Macron to succeed that they blindly elected his party's candidates to parliament.

Macron's Republic on the Move (REM) party and its allies won a massive majority in the French parliament on Sunday, indeed one of the biggest majorities in decades.

Macron govt shows ‘worrying signs’ of hostility towards media independence, French journalists warn

Unions representing journalists at more than 20 French media outlets including AFP, BFMTV, Libération and Le Monde say the government of President Emmanuel Macron is showing “extremely worrying” signs of hostility towards media independence.

“Faced with the freedom to inform, the new government has chosen to pressure [media outlets],” read a statement by the chapters of the Societe des Journalistes (SDJ) association, released by AFP on Tuesday.

The government of the newly-elected French president is sending “worrying signals” concerning “media independence” and “protection of sources,” the commentary added.

Record low turnout hangs over Macron's expected win in parliament

Fewer than half of all registered voters cast a ballot on Sunday, unprecedented in France's post-war Fifth Republic, prompting some of Macron's opponents to cast doubt on the strength of the likely mandate of the president, who wants to quickly introduce economic reforms.

Pollsters blamed voter fatigue, disillusion with politicians and projections that Macron would secure a commanding majority for the high abstention rate.

Macron's party is still poised to win comfortably in the second round.

Macron, not Le Pen, to turn state of emergency into common law

Emmanuel Macron very quickly made it official: He will introduce a bill which will transform extraordinary state of emergency powers into regular police practice.

According to Le Monde, which saw a leaked copy of the bill: “…almost all the measures of the state of emergency will be found in common law.”

What this means is that the post-Charlie Hebdo war hysteria has not only never stopped, but will have become the new, permanent normal: Anyone can be arrested, searched and detained with just a simple accusation. Judges simply need to be “informed”; police have carte blanche.

Brexit under threat: Macron set for landslide victory that may drastically alter EU exit

According to final opinion polls, the 39-year-old head of state's Republique En Marche! (REM) party could win between 395 and 425 seats in the National Assembly.

If the CEVIPOF-Le Monde figures prove correct, this would be far above the 289 needed to secure an absolute majority.

...

Mr Macron previously described the prospect of the UK leaving the European Union as "a crime", and insisted: "The EU will be united in Brexit negotiations."

But he also said he would rather see a so-called Hard Brexit – including UK leaving the European Single Market - rather than conceding advantages to the exiting state.

On the campaig trail he said: “If your Government decides to organise a Brexit, I will be pretty tough on it,” he told Channel 4 in February.

“We have to preserve the rest of the European Union and not to convey the message that you can decide to leave without any consequences.”

In Europe, Donald Trump is making Russia great again

Under Barack Obama, America succeeded in driving a wedge between Russia and the European Union. After a few months of Donald Trump, it appears Russia is slowly moving back into the French and German good books.

‘WikiLeaks’ Vault 7 cache shows US – not Russia – hacked past French elections’

It appears that this attack was of such of low technical level it could have been done by a script kiddie from their mom’s basement. So rather than this hysteria about: ‘The Russians must have done it, the Russians must have done it,’ which reminds me to a certain extent of the Monty Python script that ‘you must always expect a Spanish Inquisition.’ It is beyond parody. We have a situation now where he was trying to make political hay. It seems to me that any establishment-anointed political candidate now wants to immediately say they are under attack by the Russians because it gives them credibility. It is just crazy.

"MACRON IS DANGEROUS, A PSYCHOPATIC TO ELISE": SAYS A PSYCHIATRIC

In this regard, from Tempo, Segators confirmed his analysis of the "En Marche" candidate, explaining that at the origin of everything, there would be "a serious abuse that he then abandoned by his teacher Brigitte."

The Crusades When Christianity Pushed Back after Four Centuries of Being Attacked: Charles "The Hammer" Martel

The year is 732 A.D., and Europe is under assault. Islam, born a mere 110 years earlier, is already in its adolescence, and the Muslim Moors are on the march.

Growing in leaps and bounds, the Caliphate, as the Islamic realm is known, has thus far subdued much of Christendom, conquering the old Christian lands of the Mideast and North Africa in short order. Syria and Iraq fell in 636; Palestine in 638; and Egypt, which was not even an Arab land, fell in 642. North Africa, also not Arab, was under Muslim control by 709.

The only thing the Frankish and Burgundian European forces have going for them is their leader, Charles of Herstal, grandfather of Charlemagne. He is a brilliant military tactician who, after losing his very first battle, is enjoying an unbroken 16-year streak of victories.

NATO LAUNCHES ITS OWN OPERATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST

The recent NATO summit took a decision to formally become a member of the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (IS), in addition to its training mission in Iraq.

Despite all the speeches ringing alarm bells about the deadly threat coming from the IS – the mortal enemy of the West that vowed to fight it till it exists – the bloc’s combat ready forces are deploying…against Russia in the Eastern Europe! As a result, the alliance has seen no need to counter the IS plans to create a caliphate. It stubbornly turns a blind eye on the peril coming from the South.

Migrant flows are flooding the territories of European alliance members, terrorist acts are committed to kill citizens of the NATO member states, US and Turkish military are fighting the extremists on the ground but the bloc largely limits itself to words of condemnation while demonizing Russia – the country which says it does not want to provoke confrontation and calls for a dialogue!

Webmaster's Commentary:

It has become painfully clear, that the obvious intent of this military intervention, is regime change in Syria.

And the question must be asked; how long before NATO and US forces are in direct conflict with Russia over Syria?!?

And the way I see it, the short answer is, not long.

As a nationalist I fully support the decision of President Trump to pull out of the Paris deal. FRANCE PREPARES PRO-AL-QAEDA INTERVENTION IN SYRIA

AFP pushes a nice story about al-Qaeda ruled Idleb, Macron sets the stage for a fake "red line" chemical attack plot and then meets the Saudi financed opposition to implement it:

The unannounced meeting with Riad Hijab and a broader delegation from the Riyadh-based High Negotiations Committee (HNC), which includes political and armed groups, came as Macron seeks to review French policy on the six-year civil war.
"The president spoke of his personal commitment to the Syria dossier and of his support for the Syrian opposition in view of a political transition," his office said in a statement.

The HNC "armed groups" are allied with al-Qaeda.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question is, how is Marcon's French military going to get away with a false flag chemical attack, as the "justification" for a bombing campaign to aid Al-Qaeda, when the Russian and Syrian troops know this is coming?!?

Naturally the French press have picked up the story and run with it, while pointing out that so far there is no proof that anything illegal was done.

France’s Macron seeks to extend state of emergency to November

President Emmanuel Macron will ask France’s parliament to extend a state of emergency, in place since the 2015 attacks by Islamic State (IS) group militants, following this Monday’s suicide bombing in Manchester.

France’s new president said in a statement that he will ask lawmakers to prolong the measure from July 15, its current expiration date, until November 1. It would be the sixth extension of the state of emergency, which gives police exceptional powers.

He made the decision after a security meeting Wednesday in which top officials "studied the implications of this new terrorist attack on measures of protection to ensure the security of our compatriots".

The statement from the Elysée presidential palace once again noted “the bonds that unite France and the United Kingdom in the fight against terrorism”.
