The government of French President François Hollande is renewing its efforts to fatally undermine fundamental Palestinian rights, particularly those of refugees.

France’s Le Figaro has obtained the text of a draft UN Security Council resolution that the Hollande administration plans to introduce sometime before September.

The resolution should be seen as the international counterpart to France’s increasingly fierce crackdown on Palestine solidarity at home under the guise of fighting anti-Semitism.

Mistral deal cancellation may cost France up to 5 billion euros — reports

The cancellation of a deal on delivering Mistral-class helicopter carriers to Russia may cost France some 2 billion or 5 billion euros, the French weekly Le Point reported on Thursday.
"Instead of bringing the French shipyards corporation DCNS the profit of 1.2 billion euros and its contractors some 890 million euros, the cancellation of the deal may cost France approximately 2-5 billion euros due to non-performance of the contract," the report says.
According to the report, now the French and Russian sides "have significant differences in regard to compensational payments" in case of the non-performance of the contract. "France is trying to return Russia the sum less than 890 million euros that has already been paid earlier," it says.
On May 16, the period of force majeure circumstances that allowed a temporary delay in the handover ends and Russia will get the full right to demand compensations for the non-performance of the contract, the report says.

The French president has admitted delivering weapons to the Syrian rebels during a period of EU embargo, a new book about to be published in France reveals.

The deliveries took place in 2012, before the embargo was canceled in May 2013, according to François Hollande's last year interview with journalist and writer Xavier Panon. "We began when we were certain they would end up in the right hands. For the lethal weapons it was our services who delivered them," Hollande told the writer, AFP reports.

French authorities have identified some of their troops accused of sexually abusing children in Central African Republic while there on peacekeeping duties, a French judicial source said on Thursday.

The matter, which risks damaging the reputation of France's military operations in Africa, came to light this week when Britain's Guardian newspaper published an internal U.N. report that raised allegations of the rape of boys by French troops.

The source said an initial reading of that report suggested 14 soldiers were involved in the alleged abuse, which took place between December 2013 and June 2014. Subsequent French inquiries had identified some of them, the source said, adding that no soldiers had been questioned yet.

France ready to pay in case Mistral contract is severed — Hollande

There are no conditions yet for supply of Mistral helicopter carriers to Russia, French President Francois Hollande said Wednesday at a joint news conference with Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko in the Elysee Palace.

"As of today, their delivery, taking into account the well-known context, is impossible," Hollande said.

He said the issue of Mistrals will become one of the points of his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to be held in the Armenian capital Yerevan on Friday. "We will discuss all variants," he said.

The French leader also said in case the contract on delivery of Mistrals is finally severed, France will be ready to pay a cancelation fee.

France is ready to support Ukraine in the fight against organized crime and in the strengthening of domestic security, says a joint declaration signed in Paris on Wednesday by presidents Francois Hollande and Petro Poroshenko.
