Israeli Police Enter Netanyahu's Home For Questioning Over Corruption Allegations

As the Obama administration shunned Israel last week, we warned that police were calling on Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit to allow them to open a full criminal investigation against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Today, as Channel 2 reports, Israeli police entered Bibi's home for questioning. The prime minister was quick to react, blasting "don't celebrate too soon over corruption probe."

As we detailed last week, on Monday, December 26th, Israeli police announced that they are absolutely convinced that a criminal investigation will be opened in the next few days due to new documents that were recently received in a special inquiry that began about 9 months ago.

The offenses that Netanyahu allegedly will face will be bribery and aggravated-fraud. In June it was reported that police had recently started their secret investigation, with demand that no details be leaked to the media.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It will be interesting to see how Israeli politics will move, because of the corruption scandal.

The Israeli national laws allow for snap elections.

And without the power of the Prime Ministry behind him, Netanyahu may not be able to come out of this investigation politically unscathed.

Circle January 15th: 70 Nations Will Gather In Paris To Discuss The Creation Of A Palestinian State

On January 15th, representatives from 70 different countries will gather in Paris, France for an unprecedented global conference. The stated goal of this conference is to promote a “two-state solution” as the way that lasting peace will be brought to the Middle East. In Israel, there is a tremendous amount of concern that whatever is agreed upon at this conference will immediately be used as the basis for a UN Security Council resolution that would permanently divide the land of Israel and create a Palestinian state. But things would have to move very rapidly in order for that to happen, because Barack Obama’s time in the White House comes to an end on January 20th, and Donald Trump has already made it exceedingly clear that he would never support such a resolution.

“The tide of history is going against Israel,” says a British scholar, arguing that the regime is not going to survive much longer despite receiving overwhelming support from its allies like Britain and the US.

Dr. Rodney Shakespeare, a London-based university professor and political analyst, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Sunday, adding that no matter how pro-Zionist, the British and American governments will soon develop second thoughts for their support of Israel.

Well, the sturm und drang caused by the passage of United Nations Resolution 2334, condemning Israeli settlements, is like the shot heard ‘round the world. Israel's never-ending crimes: It's not just settlements. Israel has not just committed unspeakable acts of genocide but done so with absolute transparency.

In its least appealing landscape painting, it would appear that the resolution seemingly bestows upon already completed settlements de facto legitimacy and addresses only that part of the building glut currently under way or planned for tomorrows yet to come.

To make matters worse, despite its gratuitous dicta, the resolution remains very much a toothless declaration without any enforcement mechanism whatsoever - essentially relying upon a sudden burst of Israeli conscience to reverse a steady march of indifference to international law that has led Israel's way since the very first day it was manufactured from stolen land in Palestine.

Secretary of State John Kerry faced further ire on Wednesday after saying the settlements threaten prospects for peace in the region.

Yet part of the reason the administration decided to speak out forcefully about the settlements is because they are such a key feature of Israel’s occupation ? now approaching its 50th year. The occupation affects almost every aspect of Palestinians’ lives in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.

Israel Approves Settler Building In East Jerusalem Ahead Of Kerry Speech

The approval came after Israel postponed authorization of hundreds of other homes ahead of a speech on the Middle East by the U.S. secretary of state.

Israel approved construction of a multi-story building for settlers in annexed East Jerusalem on Wednesday, an NGO said, after postponing authorization of hundreds of other homes ahead of a speech on the Middle East by the U.S. secretary of state.

The Obama administration provoked the Israeli government’s fury on Friday by failing to block the passage of an anti-settlement resolution in the U.N. Security Council.

Secretary of State John Kerry was to give further voice to international opposition to settlements in an address at 11 a.m. ET (1600 GMT) that a State Department official said would lay out his vision for ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has joined Israeli leaders in attacking the outgoing Obama administration’s move at the U.N.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My bet is that the Israeli government will go ahead, and approve the other settlements, the approval of which is currently"postponed", when it believes that either the international community is distracted, or not paying attention, to enable Israel to ram the approvals through, and go ahead with construction.

When that happens, in light of the fact that Israel is no longer funding the UN, and literally scoffs at the notion of international law, Israel should be voted out of the UN, with severe economic sanctions to follow immediately upon its expulsion.

Israel suggests US should consider cutting funds to UN after Security Council vote

Israel's ambassador to the United States on Monday slammed the United Nations Security Council's adoption of a resolution opposing Jewish settlements in occupied territory, suggesting the incoming Trump administration and Congress should take a close look at how much money the U.S. hands over to the U.N.

Speaking on Fox News' "Special Report," Ambassador Ron Dermer also doubled down on Israel's claim the U.S. orchestrated the resolution vote before abstaining last week. Still, he gave few specifics. "We have that evidence... we're going to present it to the new administration, and if they choose to share it with the American people, that'll be their choice."

Webmaster's Commentary:

And may I politely suggest, considering the fact that Israel has cut its funding of the UN, and scoffs at the notion of international law, that it be removed from its status as a UN member by a General Counsel vote?

This expulsion should be followed immediately by the most severe sanctions the UN can levy against it, because that is the language its government in Tel Aviv understands.

Israel warned New Zealand that UN resolution was 'declaration of war': report

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally phoned New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully to warn him a UN resolution co-sponsored by the country was a "declaration of war", according to a leading Israeli newspaper.

The UN Security Council resolution called for Israel to stop building settlements on occupied Palestinian land, including East Jerusalem, declaring the settlements "illegal".

It was picked up and sponsored by New Zealand and three other countries after US President-elect Donald Trump reportedly pressured Egypt into dropping it.

It was passed on Saturday after the US abstained instead of vetoing, as they historically have done on votes concerning Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to the New Zealand Government: Were I you, and your colleagues in Government, I would take Netanyahu at his word.

However, wars come in all kinds of modalities in the 21st century.

I would strongly suggest that the government of Israel, under Netanyahu's watch, is not above doing some asymmetrical moves to destabilise your economy, under the National Party's watch, New Zealand Foreign Minister McCully.

Israel to Spray Pesticides Along Gaza Border

The Palestinian ministry of agriculture has warned local people that the Israeli occupation authorities are going to spray pesticides along the Gaza border between 25 December and 5 January. The ministry’s statement was reported by a number of media outlets.

“This is an annual Israeli activity which takes place at the end of the year to get rid of unneeded grass in this farming strip along the border,” the General Director of the Ministry of Agriculture in Gaza, Younis Al-Zaytouniyeh, told Quds Press.

He noted that the Israeli pesticides have a negative effect on Palestinian crops. This sometimes causes huge losses for Palestinian farmers in the besieged territory. Last year, he explained, most of the crops near the border were damaged.

Hell just froze over: the New York Times runs an article saying Zionism is racist

Trump’s election is having fascinating consequences. Today the New York Times ran a long piece titled, “Liberal Zionism in the Age of Trump,” by Omri Boehm of the New School saying that liberal Zionism is a contradiction: liberal American Jews have “identified themselves with Zionism, a political agenda rooted in the denial of liberal politics.”

Boehm’s most startling point is that Zionism has anti-Semitic strains, witness its collaboration with Nazis. Hannah Arendt is happy today.

The piece will greatly increase the pressure on liberal Zionists to choose one idea or the other, and to stop denying the existence of apartheid.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a fascinating analysis, and it will be interesting to see if it changes the way Zionists see themselves, and how they perceive how the world sees them.

As a Christian pacifist activist, I would love to see both a thriving Israel, and a thriving Palestinian state, created not by bloodshed, but by hard-won, ethical negotiations.

Unfortunately, the newest, internationally condemned Jewish-Only housing developments, happening in East Jerusalem, and in the West Bank, will make a contiguous Palestinian state impossible; this is by design.

And also, unfortunately, such actions are completely to be expected from the wretchedly apartheid, self-proclaimed theocracy,( with nuclear weapons) which Israel has become in the 21st century.

Israel Threatens to Give Trump ‘Iron-Clad’ Proof Obama Was Behind UN Vote

Spokesmen for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claim to have come upon “iron-clad information” from several sources which pins last week’s UN Security Council vote, which condemned Israeli expansion of settlements in the occupied territories, on a scheme by the Obama Administration.

Spokesman David Keyes insisted Obama helped create the resolution in the first place, and Ambassador Ron Dermer said Israel intends to present the evidence to the Trump Administration “through the appropriate channels.” Dermer encouraged Trump to share it with the American people to prove that the US “was behind this ganging up on Israel at the UN.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF Netanyahu actually had proof of Obama's creation, or collusion in the crafting, of this UN resolution, he would be screaming it from the rooftops in Tel Aviv.

In light of the fact that Israel is consistently guilty of choosing to disregard international law, and has stopped paying their required fees to the UN, the UN should simply boot Israel out of the UN, and declare their representative "persona non grata" at their functions.

Israel Pressing Ahead With Settlements Despite UN Resolution

The Jerusalem municipality, undeterred by a U.N. anti-settlement resolution, is due to consider on Wednesday requests for construction permits for hundreds of new homes for Israelis in areas that Israel captured in 1967 and annexed to the city.

Israel is still fuming over the resolution approved last Friday by the United Nations Security Council that demands an end to settlement activity in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Israel has also described as “shameful” the decision of its long-standing ally the United States to abstain in the vote rather than wield its veto. The Obama administration is a strong opponent of the settlements.

An agenda published by Jerusalem City Hall listed applications for at least 390 new homes whose approval looks certain to intensify international and Palestinian opposition to the Israeli settlement-building.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Given that Israel has stopped its normal share of funding for the UN, and refuses to abide by the norms of international law, the UN's only intelligent answer to this is to expel Israel from the UN; place sanctions against it; and declare that their UN representative is now "persona non grata".

I sincerely hope that this act on the part of the Israeli government energizes the BDS movement, because such actions speak a language both Israeli corporate business owners, and Israeli leadership, understands.

Did Obama Orchestrate UNSC Anti Settlement Resolution?

Along his presidential campaign, President-Elect Donald Trump promised to 'make America great again.' For some peculiar reason, the Israelis already know that they have him in their pocket. Is it true? Is this really Trump's vision of American greatness, keeping America a subservient Israeli colony? Soon enough we will be able to answer this question.

Israel Tantrum Continues, Slashes UN Funds After UN Vote

Israel has responded with anger, taking a number of retaliatory moves after the U.N. resolution was passed.

Following Friday’s U.N. vote where a historic, but largely symbolic, motion was passed condemning the Israel's illegal settlement-building, Israel has retaliated in a number of ways. Most recently, Israel announced Sunday it will be axing all funds to several U.N. institutions.

Israel waging war against US government: House Democrat

Israel’s recent claims that the US government was behind a UN measure against illegal Israeli settlements amounts to “the beginning of a war” on Washington, Democratic Representative Jim McDermott says.

“What we’re seeing is the beginning of a war on the American government,” he told MSNBC on Monday, arguing that Israeli officials were trying to make a case against the administration of President Barack Obama and force his successor Donald Trump to fully comply with their demands.

Israel to approve 100s of new homes in East Jerusalem in defiance of UNSC resolution – reports

Jerusalem’s zoning committee is expected to approve construction permits for hundreds of new homes in East Jerusalem, in a move which is illegal under international law. Settlement construction was slammed by the latest resolution adopted by the UN Security Council.

Palestinian statehood
The Jerusalem Local Planning and Construction Committee is expected on Wednesday to approve permits to build 618 apartments in Jewish neighborhoods across the Green Line, Haaretz reported.

Some 140 homes will be erected in Pisgat Ze’ev, 262 in Ramat Shlomo and 216 in Ramot, Haaretz reported, adding that even more permit requests for Pisgat Ze’ev and Ramot may be added before this week’s meeting.

According to other Israeli media reports, the Committee might approve as many as 5,600 homes in response to the United Nations Security Council resolution which condemned Israeli settlement activities and called for a halt to illegal construction.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What these building plans mean for Palestinian leadership, is that now there can be no contiguous Palestinian state, which I am certain Israeli leaders in Tel Aviv made a very certain outcome of these developments.

Netanyahu understands that the UN is utterly impotent to stop these illegal settlements from being built.

And for pulling all funding for UN bodies, Israel should be be thrown out of the UN immediately

Netanyahu accuses Obama of betraying ‘commitment’ to Israel and initiating U.N. resolution

Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement to his Cabinet this morning is an amazing read, because Israel’s situation is so naked in the wake of the Security Council resolution to condemn the settlements, which passed on Friday with the abstention of the United States. Netanyahu surely speaks the truth when he says that the resolution is “destructive,” and that the Obama administration is not Israel’s friend but Donald Trump is. Certainly Obama is not a friend of this Israeli government.

In a further sign of diplomatic crisis, Haaretz says that Netanyahu has summoned the US Ambassador Dan Shapiro.

Israel's prime minister has summoned the US ambassador amid a growing row after the US eased the passage of a resolution against Israel at the UN.

Benjamin Netanyahu, who is also foreign minister, took the unusual step of calling Dan Shapiro to his office.

It comes after Israel summoned ambassadors from countries which voted for Friday's resolution.

The reprimands came after Israel vowed to take retaliatory steps for what it called a "shameful" act by the UN.

The measure, which harshly criticised Israeli settlement activity in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, passed when the US abstained instead of using its veto.

Jewish Daily Forward: "What Do Israelis Think About Americans? Start With Disdain."

“Or — just regular mud with a ‘Dead Sea’ sticker on it.” But it’s not just American tourists whom many Israelis see as guileless. American foreign policy is held up to similar scrutiny here, even as Israel receives billions of dollars in foreign aid from the United States each year. “Americans are perceived to be naive, especially when it comes to the Middle East,” said Uri Dromi, who served as a spokesman for the Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres governments. “It is a bad neighborhood and it seems like they just don’t realize it.”

UN Resolution 2334 Is good For Israel

For once, the USA decided to join the rest of humanity and didn’t veto the resolution. The Jewish State and its lobbies are people like no other. 14 out of 15 members of the UNSC voted against Israel, the US abstained. In the most clear terms, the UNSC denounced the Jewish state’s treatment of the Palestinian people. If Israel would be an ordinary state, as Zionism initially promised, it would take some time to reflect on the resolution and consider the necessary measures to amend its public image. But as one would expect, the Jewish State did the complete opposite. It took the path of the bully and decided to punish the world.

But as was reported when these claims were made on earlier occasions Hizbullah actually took such APCs from the Southern Lebanese Army which was an Israeli proxy force used during the Israeli occupation of Lebanon. When in 2000 Hizbullah finally kicked Israel out of Lebanon, the SLA dissolved and all the weapons Israel had delivered to it were taken into Hizbullah's stocks. Farmland, pasture and natural water sources serves as the mainstays of the local economy and as the basis for the formation of an entire culture that ties the residents deeply to their surroundings. The villagers employed mostly traditional dryland farming, cultivating olives and fruit trees, legumes and grains. For hundreds of years, the villagers largely subsisted off farming and shepherding.

U.N. chief urges Israeli lawmakers to reconsider settlement bill

Outgoing United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon on Friday urged Israeli lawmakers to reconsider a bill to legalize Israeli settlement homes on private Palestinian land as Arab states mull putting forward a Security Council resolution on settlements.

The Palestinians want an independent state in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, areas Israel captured in a 1967 war. Most countries and the United Nations view Israeli West Bank settlements as illegal and an obstacle to peace.

"I strongly urge legislators to reconsider advancing this bill, which will have negative legal consequences for Israel and substantially diminish the chances for Arab-Israeli peace," Ban told a U.N. Security Council briefing on the Middle East.

Israeli officials are concerned the bill could provide grounds for prosecution by the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

The State of Israel will not rest until all Palestinians are either deported outside of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, or slaughtered outright.

Trump picks hard-line attorney as Israel envoy, angering Jewish left

President-elect Donald Trump plans to nominate David Friedman, an Orthodox Jewish lawyer with highly conservative views on Israel, as the next U.S. ambassador to the tiny Jewish-majority state.

He is a supporter of Israeli settlement construction, has downplayed the need for a Palestinian state, and is considered a key force behind the incoming president's relatively hard-line pro-Israel positions, including supporting moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“The bond between Israel and the United States runs deep, and I will ensure there is no daylight between us when I’m President,” Trump said in a statement Thursday evening. “As the United States’ ambassador to Israel, David Friedman will maintain the special relationship between our two countries. Jewish Power is now British Law – It’s Official!

For years I have argued that Jewish power is the power to silence criticism of Jewish Power. Now, UK Prime Minister Theresa May has confirmed that my observation is spot on.

According to the IHRA, “antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”

I guess the Americans must be used to the fact that their presidential campaigns are now totally funded by Jewish oligarchs such as Saban, Soros and Adelson. How does it feel being interfered with, America?

Seriously, is anyone listening to US complaints about outside meddling in their elections?
I'm referring to the fuss over allegations that Russia was hacking Clinton's emails during the US presidential campaign. Such small beer compared with the heavy-handed way America interferes in other people's business.

How does it feel being interfered with, America?

Stuart Littlewood highlights the irony of Americans complaining about alleged Russian meddling in their elections when the US and its UK ally seem to have set themselves regime change as a standard foreign policy goal.

TRUMP CONSIDERING MOVING EMBASSY TO PALESTINE

Stolen land that is ….

Relocating the embassy means endorsing the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem, and predetermining the fate of Jerusalem in a final status solution. This endorsement includes acceptance of Israel’s illegally built settlements and the wholesale confiscation of Palestinian refugee property.

Embarking on rare visit to Muslim countries, Netanyahu vaunts Israel’s popularity

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took off Tuesday morning for Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, pointing to his trip to the two Muslim countries as an indication that rather than being politically isolated, Israel is courted by countries around the world.

During his two-day visit, aimed at fostering security, economic, and diplomatic ties, Netanyahu will become the first sitting Israeli prime minister to visit the region in almost 25 years of diplomatic relations between Jerusalem and the former Soviet republics of Central Asia. Visits by Israeli leaders to non-Arab Muslim-majority countries are rare.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, the prime minister said the trip was a further indication of Israeli success in developing relationships with Muslim counties.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"...courted country.", my ASTROLABE: Netanyahu is in these two countries on a weapons-selling junket. As reported by the Jerusalem Post yesterday:

Iranian adversary reveals it bought $5 billion of weapons from Israel

What is that old line from the Middle East, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"; that is what is going on here.

The Israelis manufacture superlative weapons; Azerbaijan's government wants more of them.

It is just that simple.

REDEFINING ANTISEMITISM IN GERMANY

It is infuriating how Jews are made victims again in Germany, and how philosemitism has substituted anti-Semitism. On the other hand, Germans who engage for the end of the illegal occupation of Palestine, are defamed and excluded. The bad conscience of the perpetrators‘ progeny is not entitled to label the victims‘ progeny with a kosher stamp for human rights and international law violations. Since Germans know what a system based on injustice was and is able of doing.

KOSHER RAPE

Krim’s most misogynistic ruling was in response to the following question by an anonymous man: “Is it allowed nowadays for an IDF [Israeli army] soldier, for example, to rape girls during battle, or is such a thing forbidden?”

In response, Krim ruled: “Even though fraternizing with a gentile woman is a very serious matter, it was permitted during wartime … the Torah permitted the individual to satisfy the evil urge.”

UN Says Israeli Bill to Legalize Settler Homes 'Unequivocally Illegal'

The UN human rights chief on Thursday slammed a bill in Israel that would legalize some 4,000 settler homes in the West Bank, saying it would clearly violate international law. Israeli lawmakers voted Wednesday to advance the bill, which would legalize settler homes built on private Palestinian land. "I strongly urge lawmakers to reconsider their support for this bill, which if enacted, would have far-reaching consequences and would seriously damage the reputation of Israel around the world," said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein ... The United States, UN officials and the European Union have warned that continued settlement building is eating away at the possibility of a two-state solution to the conflict. All Israeli settlements are viewed as illegal under international law ...
