Israel’s Netanyahu to ask for more time to form government

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will ask Israel’s president for more time to form a new government, a spokesman said on Saturday, reported Reuters.

In office for a decade, Netanyahu won a record fifth term in an April 9 parliamentary election, largely seen as a de-facto referendum on his leadership as he faces possible indictment in three corruption cases. He denies the charges.

Netanyahu is negotiating terms with nearly all the right-wing, nationalist and religious parties that form his outgoing government. No party in Israel has ever won an outright majority in the 120-seat Knesset, making coalition governments the norm with political negotiations often dragging on.

Israeli home demolitions skyrocket in Jerusalem

Israeli occupation forces have sharply escalated their demolitions of Palestinian properties in East Jerusalem.

As a result, more Palestinians have been made homeless this year than in all of 2018.

United Nations humanitarian coordinator Jamie McGoldrick decried the alarming trend, calling on Israel to immediately halt all destruction of Palestinian property.

“Demolitions in East Jerusalem have increased at a staggering pace over the last month, leaving tens of Palestinians displaced and others who have lost their livelihoods overnight,” McGoldrick said last week.

These Palestinians in Gaza make sculptures and art pieces out of Israel’s weapons.

Majdi Abu Taqiyeh, 40, got the idea of making sculptures out of Israeli bullets when his brother was shot during the Great March of Return demonstrations along Gaza’s eastern boundary.

Israeli snipers have killed more than 200 Palestinians since the demonstrations started in March last year.

“I chose the occupation’s bullets as a medium to work with so they become messages to the world,” Abu Taqiyeh told The Electronic Intifada.

13 attacks by Israel settlers on Palestinians over two-week period

Israeli settlers carried out 13 attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank over a two-week period 23 April-6 May, reported United Nations OCHA.

According to the monitoring body, the attacks “resulted in the injury of three Palestinians” as well as in “damage to Palestinian property across the West Bank”.

In one incident, “a group of Israeli settlers, some of whom were armed, physically assaulted and injured three Palestinian men, who were surveying land” in Kafr Ni’ma village near Ramallah.

Meanwhile, “Israeli settlers accompanied by the Israeli army, vandalized Palestinian property in Ein Harrasheh water spring and a public park in Area B of Al Mazra’a Al Qibliya village” near Ramallah on five separate occasions over the two-week reporting period in question.

P.A: “Deal Of The Century; An Official American Recognition of Israeli Apartheid In Palestine”

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry issued a statement, Thursday, denouncing the so-called “Deal of the Century,” proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, and stated that this “deal” is an official American recognition, and sponsorship of Israel’s illegal colonization and apartheid in occupied Palestine.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry said the American statements, and the unconditional support for Israel, and now the so-called “Deal of the Century,” are just providing Israel, and its ruling right-wing extremist parties, with more support to illegally occupy and annex more Palestinian lands.

It added that that the stances of Trump, and his government, are also encouraging Israel to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people and their lands, in addition to encouraging Israel’s illegal colonization of Palestinian lands, including the holy sites.

Has Israel Already Annexed The West Bank?

While the international community and media created an uproar when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intent to annex the West Bank in a bid to garner votes during last month’s elections, many Palestinians living in the occupied territory were not fazed by the right-wing leader’s words.

“It’s obvious that the West Bank is already de facto annexed,” Wael Abdul Raheem, a 35-year-old lawyer residing in Ramallah, told Al Jazeera.

He recounted a recent incident when he was handed a traffic fine by an Israeli police officer on Road 60 – an Israeli road that cuts through the occupied territory used by both Israelis and Palestinians – near his village of Madama in the northern West Bank.

“I had to go to Beit El (an illegal Israeli settlement in the West Bank) in order to pay the fine. Israel already treats this area as its own. So, no, I definitely was not shocked by Netanyahu’s statement,” he said.

Trump administration gets war marching orders from Tel Aviv: American analyst

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s anti-Iran threats are nothing but “bombastic” comments stemming from the same war rhetoric already used by Washington against Libya, Syria and Iraq, which itself receives “war marching orders from Tel Aviv,” says an American political analyst.

Rodney Martin, a former congressional staffer based in Scottsdale, Arizona, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV after Pompeo cancelled his scheduled meeting with German officials in Berlin to pay an unannounced visit to the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, where he continued attempts to sow discord between the two neighboring countries of Iran and Iraq.

Attempts to disarm Palestinian resistance will spark war this summer: Islamic Jihad

Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad resistance movement Ziad al-Nakhala has said that attempts to disarm Palestinian resistance factions will spark a war in the coming summer.

"We, the resistance, will face any war against us with complete readiness," said al-Nakhala, speaking to the Lebanese al-Mayadeen television channel.

"What happened in Gaza was a maneuver with live fire in preparation for the upcoming war," added al-Nakhala, referring to last week's confrontation between Israel and the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza strip.

The Gaza escalation erupted last Friday following the deaths of four Palestinians in an Israeli air raid on the coastal sliver of land and the regime’s live fire targeting Gaza protesters.

Israeli warplanes struck some 350 sites in Gaza, claiming the lives of 27 Palestinian people.

TRUMP’S “DEAL OF THE CENTURY” WILL USE SANCTIONS, MILITARY THREATS TO FORCE PALESTINIAN ACCEPTANCE

The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, owned by top Trump donor Sheldon Adelson, has published in Hebrew a leaked draft of the Trump administration’s “Deal of the Century” for the Israel-Palestine conflict. The draft was given to the newspaper by an official from Israel’s Foreign Ministry, which is currently headed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan, which has been drafted by President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt, is expected to be released this June after the conclusion of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, according to Mondoweiss.

‘Beautiful Diverse Sensational’: Israel sets up fake Eurovision boycott page to counter BDS campaign

Sporting the URL boycotteurovision.net Israel’s PR website masquerades as part of a campaign to boycott the Eurovision song contest in Tel Aviv, but actually features pro-Israel narrative.

For most people who follow the issue, the acronym ‘BDS’ refers to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, which aims to financially pressure Israel into improving treatment of Palestinians. However, according to a new website promoted via ads on Google, it now stands for how Israel is “beautiful, diverse, sensational.”

Despite the deceptive URL and the fact that the page doesn’t identify itself as run by the Israeli government, Tel Aviv’s PR ministry confirmed to Reuters that they were behind the campaign.

Thinking fast and slow in reporting Israel-Gaza fighting

At some level, you have to feel sorry for the members of the American corporate media reporting on the periodic clashes between Israel and the resistance forces in Gaza. Reporting in any situation of war or civil conflict is a harrowing, high-stake business. You have some amount of fear about your own safety and that of your loved ones. Getting details of a murky, fast-moving story can be really hard. You have to tread numerous super-fine lines of journalistic judgment/ethics in how you gather the news and report it. And meantime, you’re working under pressure of very tight deadlines on a “big”, high-stakes story…

Calls for protests in support of Palestine against ‘attempts to annihilate the cause’

As the 71st anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba approaches, the Palestinian Forum of Britain (PFB) has called on everyone who believes in freedom and human rights to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people against attempts to “annihilate” their cause.

In a statement the group said that since the occupation began, Palestinians have successfully confronted scores of plot and campaigns to eradicate their cause and will continue to do so.

The call comes as leaked reports in the Israel press have revealed details of the US’ peace plan, dubbed the “deal of the century”, which will expected to be unveiled next month. The details appear to show that the Palestinians will continue to live under Israel’s military control and be subjected to its rule. They will also suffer the loss of Jerusalem as their capital and large swathes of the occupied West Bank would be annexed by Israel, under the terms of the deal.

Report: 19 violations against Palestine media in April

In its monthly report, the Palestinian Centre for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) reported 19 violations against media freedoms in Israel and the occupied territories, Safa said yesterday.

In a statement, MADA said the Israeli occupation committed 11 of these violations, the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the occupied West Bank committed five and the authorities in Gaza committed three.

This number is much lower that the number of violations which have been witnessed in previous months, when the Israeli occupation committed 80 violations and the Palestinian authorities in the West Bank and besieged Gaza Strip together carried out 37 violations.

Behind the biased headlines of Israel’s occupation

Every day, Western media headlines showcase intense conflicts between Palestinians and Israelis, with the Palestinians more often than not getting the blame. Some are major news stories, as we saw in the three-day war that took place last weekend between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip which received much high-profile coverage.

But many incidents get little mainstream media attention or coverage, putting the civilians and journalists, especially the Palestinians, at risk and taking the edge off of the harsh reality of Israel’s excessive use of force, the racism that underlines Israeli policies and the cost on the everyday lives of Palestinian civilians who often are the victims of the crossfire.

As the world focused on the rocket battle between Hamas and Israel this week, life went on as usual in the Israeli occupied West Bank were Palestinians are forced to accept an inferior status, denied civil rights that can range from survivable clashes to the loss of life.

Australian, Canadian firms pull out of Israeli settler railway

The Electronic Intifada can exclusively reveal that Canadian engineering giant Bombardier has pulled out of a bid to expand and operate an Israeli tramway linking settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Bombardier is one of several global firms – two others being Australia’s Macquarie and Germany’s Siemens – to drop out of the tender to build the next phase of the Jerusalem light rail.

The light rail system links settlements to each other and to Jerusalem, helping to entrench and facilitate Israel’s colonial expansion in the occupied territory – a war crime.

The tramway is a symbol of oppression for Palestinians.

Netanyahu's Visit to China: Opportunities beyond Iran

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to make an official visit to China in early May 2013. This would be the first visit by an Israeli prime minister to China in over six years, and given the rarity of the meetings between the two heads of state and China’s increased influence internationally, the trip is important. This will be an opportunity for Israel to meet China’s new leaders, some of whom are expected to remain in their positions for the next ten years.

US and China Compete for the Haifa Port

In July 2018, 180 acres of the Northern port in Haifa were transferred to the Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) for a 25-year period of management. This sparked a heated discussion in the Israeli press and the academic world, as well as a special discussion by the Israeli cabinet. It also came up in discussions between US National Security Advisor John Bolton and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when they met on January 7, 2019.

Ostensibly at issue are the implications of the port’s management by a Chinese company for Israel and its ties with its main strategic ally, the United States. But while the direct implications of the port’s management are of interest to China and the US, these concerns are more related to a Cold War-type struggle.

US providing extreme one-sided support for Israel: Analyst

A shift in US policy toward equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism highlights Washington’s “extreme one-sided support” for Israel, says an American author and radio host.

“The idea in the US of equating anti-Zionism or anti-Israel with anti-Semitism is an absolute disgrace,” Stephen Lendman told Press TV on Tuesday.

Anti-Zionism is entirely separate from anti-Semitism; the former is legitimate criticism of Israel while the latter is a form of racism, Lendman said.

“There’s no relationship between these two; it shows the extreme one-sided support for the US to Israel, ignoring its high-crimes, its crimes of war against humanity, its slow motion genocide,” he added.

Five British Prime Ministers, some of them renowned war criminals, united yesterday in a call to build a Holocaust Memorial in proximity to Parliament. I would take it further: don’t just build a holocaust shrine in Westminster, make our parliament into a Holocaust monument. We don’t really need a House of Commons; as things stand, we better get direct orders from our true rulers in Tel Aviv.

Kushner’s peace plan is ‘pretext’ for Israeli land grab: Palestinian UN ambassador

The Trump administration’s long-awaited plan peace for the Middle East is really a cover for Israel’s annexation of West Bank settlements, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Riyad Mansour said Tuesday.

A peace deal devised by White House senior adviser Jared Kushner is expected to be released in June, after Ramadan, following repeated United States moves that appear to embolden Israel and hurt the Palestinians.

“If what we read is what is to be expected from this plan, then it seems that the objective of it is not a solution to the conflict, but to give pretext to the Israeli government to annex other portions” of the West Bank, Mansour told a small group of reporters at UN headquarters.

Israel wants the Trump administration to attack Iran, but U.S. mainstream media ignores Netanyahu’s instigating

Why is the Trump administration escalating its economic war against Iran, a dangerous policy that could eventually lead to a shooting war and trigger a world recession? Iran in 2019 is no danger to U.S. interests anywhere. Tehran is not threatening American shipping, or military bases; its allies, like Hizbollah in Lebanon, have not targeted U.S. civilians or soldiers for years.

The U.S. is squeezing Iran mainly because Israel wants it to. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in a de facto alliance with Saudi Arabia, and has warm relations with the other Gulf states and with the Abdel Fattah el-Sisi dictatorship in Egypt. Iran is the only regional power that is deterring him from completely annexing the West Bank. Iran is also a major supporter of Hamas, the resistance movement in Gaza.

Israel Again Bombs Gaza - But Is It "In Response"?

Most readers do not read further than the headline and maybe the first paragraph. Their impression will understandably be that "militants in Gaza" started the fight and that the Zionists "responded". But that is far from the truth.

One has to read down to the fifteenth paragraph to learn that those 'facts' are probably false:

The Israeli military reported on Friday that two soldiers were lightly wounded in a shooting incident along its border with Gaza. In response, Israel struck sites belonging to the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, killing two fighters.
Also on Friday, two Palestinian protesters were killed taking part in ongoing weekly demonstrations at the border fence with Israel, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

Note the sequencing. The exchange is again described as a "response" by Israel. The two murdered demonstrators, who were unarmed and posed no threat to Israel, are mentioned as an aside.

Donald Trump Should be Prosecuted for Failing to Register as an Agent of a Foreign Government

US President Donald Trump has proved himself not to be an agent of the American people, but an agent of Israel.

With his administration’s decision to send an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf, the latest of his escalations in the Middle East, it is only appropriate that he be required to register as an agent of a foreign government.

It is the law that in order to work in the US on behalf of a foreign government, you need to register as such. Recently, there were two high-profile cases where people have been sent to prison for failure to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, namely, those of Paul Manafort and Maria Butina.

As we are all too well aware, Donald Trump has done nothing for America.

Scoop: Israel passed White House intelligence on possible Iran plot

Israel passed information on an alleged Iranian plot to attack U.S. interests in the Gulf to the U.S. before national security adviser John Bolton threatened Iran with "unrelenting force" last night, senior Israeli officials told me.

Why it matters: Bolton's unusual and aggressive statement included news that the U.S. would move an aircraft carrier to the region. The officials said intelligence gathered by Israel, primarily by the Mossad intelligence agency, is understood to be part of the reason for Bolton's announcement.

Behind the scenes: Information about possible Iranian plots against the U.S. or its allies in the Gulf were raised two weeks ago in talks held at the White House between an Israeli delegation headed by national security adviser Meir Ben Shabbat and a U.S. team led by Bolton, the Israeli officials told me.

Once again, ‘NYT’ distorts the news, dishonestly making Gazans the aggressor and Israel the victim

Here’s today’s misleading headline in the Times; “Gaza Militants Fire 250 Rockets, and Israel Responds With Airstrikes.” This is a classic Times tactic to rig its Israel/Palestine coverage; distort the timeline to make it seem like the Palestinians started the violence, and that Israel is (reluctantly) “responding.”

Amos Harel, who covers the military for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, is hardly a supporter of Hamas. But he is an honest reporter, and you can turn to him (or one of his colleagues), rather than to the New York Times whenever there is a new outbreak of violence so you can try and figure out what is actually happening.

Amos Harel tells a more complicated story. He reports that the day before the rocket barrage, during Friday protests along the Gaza border, an Israeli jeep came under fire; one Israeli officer received “moderate” wounds and a soldier was wounded lightly. Then,

A state of cautious calm prevailed in the Gaza Strip on Monday, two days after an Israeli military onslaught against the blockaded territory left 25 Palestinians dead – including two infants and three women – and scores more injured, reports Anadolu Agency.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Israeli military pounded the coastal enclave with airstrikes and artillery barrages, while Gaza-based resistance factions responded by firing rockets towards southern Israel.

The violence ended at dawn Monday when a ceasefire went into effect.

According to the Al-Aqsa television channel, the truce began at 4:30 AM local time.

Gaza ceasefire holding following bloody weekend

A ceasefire has been reached between Israel and Palestinian factions, according to the latter, seeming to put an end to violence that has rocked the Gaza Strip since Friday, and left 23 Palestinians and four civilians in Israel dead.

According to Palestinian officials, the ceasefire came into effect at 4.30am local time (01:30 GMT), after Israel and Hamas, the movement that governs the Strip, agreed to taper the fighting that reached a peak on Sunday.

As is common in such situations, Israel has not publicly commented on whether a ceasefire has been reached.

However, there appeared to be no rocket fire coming from Gaza following the Palestinians’ announcement.

World Condemns Israeli Attack On Anadolu Agency Office

A growing list of news agencies, advocacy groups and leaders condemned an Israeli attack on Anadolu Agency office, in the Gaza Strip, on Saturday.

Israeli warplanes hit the building with at least five rockets after firing warning shots, Anadolu Agency’s correspondent in Jerusalem reported.

No injuries or death were reported.

“The targeting of the Anadolu Agency office is the attempt to remove witnesses and prepare for the massacres of Israel against Gaza,” Ibrahim Melhem, spokesman for the Palestinian government told Anadolu Agency.

The Association of the Balkan News Agencies- Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE) and Athens News Agency has also condemned the attack.

“We condemn the attack against Anadolu Agency office in the West Bank,” Secretary General of ABNA-SE and President of Athens News Agency, Michalis Psilos said, in a statement.

“It’s urgent to defend press freedom against such attacks,” Psilos said.

Analysis Netanyahu's Partners Are Blackmailing Him – and a New Election Won't Save Him

In the 2003 election, Likud under Ariel Sharon won 38 seats in the Knesset, which grew to 40 following a merger with Natan Sharansky’s party. Sharon made a point of meeting with the leaders of all the parties, including the Arab ones, while he was forming his coalition. That was his way of sending the message that the election campaign was over, the mudslinging was a thing of the past and he was now the prime minister of all Israelis. My door will always be open, he promised the party leaders, I’ll always be happy to meet and talk. And he was as good as his word, until the day he collapsed, in 2006.

In a first, Israel responds to Hamas hackers with an air strike

For the first time, Israel has used brute military force to respond to a Hamas cyberattack, three years after NATO proclaimed "cyber" an official battlefield in modern warfare.

The "bomb-back" response took place on Saturday when Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an air strike against a building in the Gaza Strip. They claimed it housed Hamas cyber operatives, which had been engaging in a cyberattack against Israel's "cyberspace."

"We were ahead of them all the time," said Brigadier General D., the head of the IDF's cyber defense division. "The moment they tried to do something, they failed."

Israeli officials did not disclose any details about the Hamas cyberattack; however, they said they first stopped the attack online, and only then responded with an air strike.

Israel kill Hamas commander in airstrike and 'prepares Gaza ground invasion' as it hits back after 600 militant rockets kill four and injure 66

An Israeli man, 58, became the first citizen to be killed in the Middle East hostilities since the 2014 war.

Seven Palestinians, including a pregnant mother and her baby daughter, were also reportedly killed.

Israeli PM Netanyahu said Hamas is paying a 'heavy price' and has ordered ground troops up to Gaza's border.

Three Israelis, including an 80-year-old woman, were also wounded by rocket fire in the weekend of combat.

Webmaster's Commentary:

People who have been following the demonstrations at the border knew that this was coming; it was only a matter of time, until the israeli military felt that the "optics" of such an invasion would most probably be seen as a "Justified retaliation" by the rest of the world.

And this time, the IDF is going to kill as many innocent non-combatants as humanly possible; it will be a no holds barred situation, and the Israelis will not negotiate a cease fire this time.

ISRAELI ENVOY CALLS FOR CRIMINALIZING ANTISEMITISM AFTER NYT CARTOON

The only way to stop antisemitism is to criminalize it, Israel's Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon told reporters in New York on Monday. "The time for talking and having a conversation is over," Danon said. "What Israel and the Jewish community around the world demand is action - and now." Danon, speaking on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council meeting, said that those who engage in antisemitism "must be punished. Whether it is here at the UN [or by] political leaders, editors, policy pundits or college professors, it does not matter. "Antisemitism should have no place in our society," he continued. "Until it becomes criminal, this bigotry will persist; it will fester. It is only a matter of time until it erupts again in violence and bloodshed."

The Occupation of the American Mind (45-minute version)

Over the past few years, Israel's ongoing military occupation of Palestinian territory and repeated invasions of the Gaza strip have triggered a fierce backlash against Israeli policies virtually everywhere in the world -- except the United States. The Occupation of the American Mind takes an eye-opening look at this critical exception, zeroing in on pro-Israel public relations efforts within the U.S.

Narrated by Roger Waters and featuring leading observers of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and U.S. media culture, the film explores how the Israeli government, the U.S. government, and the pro-Israel lobby have joined forces, often with very different motives, to shape American media coverage of the conflict in Israel's favor.

The wounded around me

It’s been more than a year since the Great March of Return protests started in Gaza.

The weekly demonstrations were launched as a way to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians living under a draconian siege that has left Gaza on the brink of a humanitarian disaster.

They are also a reassertion of the Palestinian right of return to the lands and homes from which Palestinians were dispossessed in 1948. Two-thirds of Gaza’s population of approximately two million people are refugees.

But the activism of demonstrators has come at a high and deadly cost. Still, people march.

Israel’s Eurovision flop

The Eurovision song contest is set to take place in Israel later this month.

The Israeli government is treating the event as a major propaganda opportunity, with full support from the state, backed by more than $30 million in government financing.

But recent Israeli reports suggest that, despite all these efforts, the event could end up as a total flop, with negative future consequences for the prospects of Israel’s efforts to influence global public opinion in its favour.

The Brussels conference set out to whitewash Israel’s policies

The European Union and donor countries held a conference yesterday to discuss a new financial proposal to solve the crisis of Israel deducting or “stealing” about $139 million of the tax revenues collected by the occupation state on the Palestinian Authority’s behalf. This is the amount that the PA pays as stipends to the families of prisoners and martyrs, and Israel’s reluctance to pay the cash puts the PA at risk of financial collapse.

The new proposal actually involves accepting Israel’s policy and convincing PA President Mahmoud Abbas to back down from his nationalist, principled position of refusing to accept the entire amount as long as Israel continues to use Palestinians’ money as a means to punish them and put pressure on the authority. What is this new mechanism? How does it serve Israel?

In video - Dozens of Israeli settlers storm Urif, attack Palestinians

Dozens of Israeli settlers from the illegal settlement of Yitzhar stormed the Urif village, south of the northern occupied West Bank district of Nablus, overnight on Thursday.

Head of Urif village council, Mazen Shehadeh, told Ma'an that heavily armed Israeli forces provided protection to dozens of Israeli settlers as they stormed the village and attacked Palestinian residents.

Shehadeh added that Israeli forces repeatedly fired tear-gas bombs towards Palestinian residents under the pretext that “unknown individuals” stole sheep from the illegal Yitzhar settlement.

Shehadeh also confirmed that Israeli settlers vandalized one Palestinian-owned vehicle, belonging to Urif resident, Muataz Najeh al-Safdi.
Over 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law, with recent announcements of settlement expansion provoking condemnation from the international community.

More New ‘AIPACs’ Popping Up

New organizations dedicated to “defending” Israel are proliferating due to concerns that the American people are finally waking up to the fact that they have been getting ripped off by a vast Zionist conspiracy for the past 70-plus years. Ironically, while it has become possible to criticize Israel even in the mainstream media, the United States government itself has become more firmly in the grasp of the Israel lobby, most recently manifested in bills passed by Congress pledging undying love and affection for war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu and all his works. This has been due in large part to the effective lobbying by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which met in Washington in March and drew 18,000 of its supporters to both show up and lobby their congressmen.

Israel had plutonium core ready to turn into nuke in ’67 war, US journal reveals

In the lead-up to the 1967 Six Day War, Israel hid a plutonium core in an old British-built police station outside the town of Gedera, with plans to turn it into a functioning nuclear bomb if necessary, according to testimony from a former Israeli official who guarded the site, which was published Wednesday.

The article was published as part of a new series on the nuclear aspect of the Six Day War in the Nonproliferation Review, a journal run by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies that describes itself as focusing on the “causes and consequences of the spread of weapons of mass destruction.”
