'They Aren't Wanted Here': Israeli Defense Minister Calls for Boycott of Arabs

"They should understand that they are not wanted here, they are not part of us," the minister told the Army Radio.

Commenting on Saturday's protests in the region over US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Jewish state's capital, Lieberman said that Wadi Ara residents "have no connection with this country," adding that the riots are "intolerable."

Trump Forfeits US Mideast Mediator Role, Russia Should Step In

President Donald Trump’s announcement this week that the US is henceforth recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will have many harmful repercussions for the entire Middle East.

But out of the ashes of US policy, something better can arise. Russia should step in to give badly needed leadership.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was among many world leaders who warned that Trump’s intervention will likely derail peace prospects, not just for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but for the region as a whole.

Palestinians, Arabs and Muslim nations are infuriated by what they see as Trump’s betrayal of a righteous cause for Palestinian statehood, with East Jerusalem being the future capital of that state.

By declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel, Trump is effectively pre-empting any negotiated settlement to a conflict which has raged for 70 years.

Iranians hold nationwide protests against US al-Quds decision

Large groups of Iranians have taken to the streets across the country to protest against US recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s “capital.”

Protesters in the capital city of Tehran and other cities across the country staged anti-Israeli rallies after Friday prayers.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday defied global warnings and said the US formally recognizes Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel, and will begin the process of moving its embassy to the occupied city, breaking with decades of American policy.

In Tehran, tens of thousands of protesters condemned Trump’s decision, chanting slogans against Israel and the US and expressing support for the Palestinian nation.

US al-Quds move aimed at legalizing Palestine's occupation: Iran diplomat

A senior Iranian diplomat says a decision by US President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s “capital” is aimed at legitimizing the Israeli regime's occupation of Palestine.

"Occupation of the Palestinian land lies at the root of all crises in our region and any action to deny the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including with regard to the holy city of al-Quds and particularly al-Aqsa Mosque, will only result in more bloodshed and rage," Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gholamali Khoshroo said in an address to a United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York on Friday.

He added that bids aimed at legitimizing the Israeli occupation in the Middle East region by rejecting the historical realities would "gravely" undermine peace.

Trump’s decision on Jerusalem al-Quds is ‘a rash, unwise move’: Analyst

US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel's capital is “a rash, unwise move,” but that is “the fulfillment of a decades-long policy on both sides of the American political spectrum,” according to American writer and political analyst Daniel Patrick Welch.

In a speech at the White House on Wednesday, Trump officially declared Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel's capital, saying his administration would also begin a process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city, which is expected to take years.

Welch told Press TV on Friday that there aren’t two sides in the United States and there never have been “when it comes to Israel.”

After the prayers Iranians took to the streets of Tehran and other cities to protest against Trump’s decision, calling for “death” to Israel and the United States and burning their flags.

Thousands protest in Britain against Trump’s Jerusalem announcement

Thousands of people took the streets of Britain yesterday in protest against the decision by Donald Trump to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Demonstrations were held in at least 10 cities, including London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Organised by the Palestinian Forum of Britain and other major civil society groups, those taking part defied the bitterly cold weather to show their solidarity with Palestine. In London, protesters gathered in front of the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square.

“The recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of an oppressive entity is a violation of every legal norm,” insisted the chair of the Forum, Hafez Al-Karmi. “If international laws and conventions are neither respected nor followed, we should not be surprised if there is chaos in the world.” We are prepared to stand together against the terrorists of Daesh, he asked, so who will stand and fight the terror adopted by Trump and Netanyahu today?

Egyptian churches insist Jerusalem is a Palestinian Arab city

The leading Protestant Christian in Egypt insisted on Friday that Jerusalem is a Palestinian Arab city, Anadolu has reported. “It is inevitable that it will return to Palestinian sovereignty,” added Reverend Dr Andrea Zaki, the President of the Protestant Community of Egypt and General Director of the Coptic Evangelical Organisation for Social Services.

Rev. Zaki called for the nations and states which care about peace to work towards maintaining the Arab identity of Jerusalem because it is the place of the three monotheistic faiths of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. “The American decision has hurt the feelings of millions of Arabs, Muslims and Christians,” he pointed out. “This decision will never change the fact that Jerusalem is occupied.”

According to the senior theologian, he has been in constant contact with international church organisations in an effort to mobilise support for the Palestinians “at this decisive moment” and “to reiterate that Jerusalem is an Arab city.”

Debunking Trump’s claims about “reality” in Jerusalem

In his speech on Wednesday, Trump described his endorsement of Israel’s claim to Jerusalem as “nothing more, or less, than a recognition of reality.”

Trump added that Jerusalem is “the home of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, as well as the Israeli supreme court” as well as “the location of the official residence of the prime minister and the president. It is the headquarters of many government ministries.”

In the debate I pointed out that this “reality” was the direct consequence of Israel’s military rule and occupation which prevents millions of Palestinian Muslims and Christians from free access to the city.

I posed the question of why Israel, alone, has been able to develop national institutions in the city.

For decades, Israel has been forcibly closing Palestinian institutions in occupied East Jerusalem, including, most famously in 2001 the Orient House.

Trump's Decision on Israel Will Torpedo US Influence in Muslim World

The expected announcement by President Trump that the US recognises Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and will move the US embassy there could mark a critical stage in the reduction of US influence in the world. Seldom, if ever, has such an important US policy initiative been so universally criticised or condemned by almost every country in the world.

But this time round expressions of extreme disagreement are more than usually mixed with scorn and bemusement at a move which may help Mr Trump in US domestic politics but will seriously damage US political primacy in the region. Even steadfast US allies do not want to become collateral damage.

Jerusalem embassy move has zero upside for America

Why is it a problem that the Trump administration is recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital with plans to relocate the American Embassy there? After all, Israeli’s entire government is located in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is where the American government conducts its relations with Israel. It is the stated capital of Israel, one of America’s closest allies.

The answer is that the status of Jerusalem is deeply contested. Both Israel and Palestinians claim it as the capital of their respective states. Both sides have agreed to negotiate the city’s status, but thus far have not come up with any solutions, even on the most basic question of whether or where to locate the boundary between the areas each claims for itself: Israel claims the entire city as its capital while the Palestinians claim East Jerusalem.

Erasing the Liberty: The Battle to Keep Alive the Memory of Israel’s Massacre on the USS Liberty

On June 8, 1967, the virtually unarmed USS Liberty (AGTR-5), the U.S. Navy’s most sophisticated spy ship, while monitoring communications in international waters in the eastern Mediterranean during the Six-Day War—to find out if the Soviet Union was assisting its Arab client states—was viciously attacked by unmarked Israeli jets and marked Israeli motor torpedo boats.

The unprovoked, premediated assault murdered 34 young American boys and wounded 174, out of a crew of 294, an almost 71% casualty rate. The ship took nearly 1,000 cannon and rocket holes—some the size of basketballs—as well as over 5,000 armor-piercing shells, through the skin of the vessel. The Israelis dropped napalm on the defenseless ship and shot at sailors attempting to rescue the wounded and put out fires, as well as firing on all the remaining life rafts, a war crime.

State Department warns Americans they are in danger from terror attacks WORLDWIDE following Trump's Jerusalem decision

The State Department issued a new 'Worldwide Caution' to Americans traveling overseas on Wednesday, after President Donald Trump announced the U.S. has officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The update did not include specific warnings about Israel, the West Bank and Gaza; that region's travel advisory dates back to April.

But the State Department did advise Americans to avoid Jerusalem's Old City and the West Bank on Tuesday, anticipating strong reactions to Trump's speech once the subject matter became public.

The global warning advised American citizens to 'maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness when traveling.'

Israel launched a large-scale surprise military drill late Tuesday along the country’s northern border with Lebanon, one of many regional countries to condemn President Donald Trump’s anticipated announcement recognizing the disputed city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The Israeli military reportedly mobilized its Galilee division, including hundreds of logistics corps soldiers and dozens of vehicles, without prior notice, in an effort to test its rapid-response capabilities in the event of a conflict breaking out in the tense northern region, near foes Lebanon and Syria. Both Arab nations have recognized Jerusalem solely as the capital of an independent Palestinian state, and have been hit by Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran-backed forces, such as Lebanon’s Shiite Muslim Hezbollah movement, which has focused on battling Syrian rebels and jihadis in recent years. It has also clashed with Israeli forces for decades.

Abbas: US Can No Longer Mediate Israel-Palestinian Talks

With the US so heavily committed to supporting Israel, and protecting them from any UN resolutions, it’s always been difficult for the Palestinian leadership to trust the US to be an impartial moderator for peace efforts. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says Wednesday’s move by President Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital has effectively ended that entirely.

Abbas says there is no way at this point that the Palestinians can trust the US to be a mediator, saying Trump’s move encourages Israel to continue the occupation and expansion of settlements, undermining the two-state solution.

Trump has suggested that the recognition of the capital is going to help the peace process, though the Secretaries of State and Defense are both warning the move risks provoking regional violence, and White House officials say that the recognition threatens the peace process in the near-term

Webmaster's Commentary:

What President Trump has done, effectively, in this act, is he has thoroughly destroyed the peace process; characterized American foreign policy, when it comes to the Palestenian people, as completely undeserving of any trust or credibility; destroyed any possibility of a two-state solution; and made new regional wars nearly inevitble.

These were precisely the outcomes Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu wanted, because fear of such internal violence and wars against its neighbors, have always been Netanyahu's major way to "glue" the Israeli people together, and let him do, basically, whatever he wants with Israel's government and military.

Remember the animated movie "Wreck-It Ralph"?!? Well, it appears that, when it comes to any Israeli/Palestinian peace and rapprochement, we have a "Wreck-It Donald" in the White House, a turn of events over which I am both profoundly unhappy, and deeply concerned.

“The European Union has a clear and united position. We believe the only realistic solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine is based on two states and with Jerusalem as the capital of both,” EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini told a news conference.

Mogherini's statement comes as President Trump on Wednesday said the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and announced plans to move the U.S. Embassy there from Tel Aviv.

His decision drew widespread criticism from European leaders.

Egypt minster calls for opening Arab embassies in Palestine’s Jerusalem

“America has proven it is not neutral in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and has revealed its complete bias in favour of the Israelis. We must stop looking at the US as a neutral party to resolve the conflict. It would be more honourable for the US, if it has any honour left, to sit on the Israeli side of the table in any future negotiations.”

Types With Tired Fingers

I have recently had a religious epiphany. I have decided to convert to the Sun Dance faith. This is a religion practiced by many of the North American native people for thousands of years. It's easy to be a Sun Dancer; you can see the Sun! That's a definite plus compared to religions relying on that imaginary playmate in the sky.

In the spirit of traditional naming custom I have taken an aspect of my life as a blogger and adopted my new Native American name, "Types With Tired Fingers." Because I am now religiously connected with the original people of the North American continent, who have been there for thousands of years, I hereby call on the United States Government to withdraw and return this land to its rightful traditional owners, myself included. After all, "We" were here first!

Sounds silly, doesn't it?

Trump's Jerusalem Tit-For-Tat: Orders Saudis To ‘Immediately’ End Yemen Blockade

In a brief statement issued Wednesday afternoon, President Trump called on Saudi leadership to completely lift the years long Saudi military blockade on war-torn Yemen. The unexpected announcement came on the same day President Trump delivered an extremely controversial televised address wherein he gave official US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“I have directed officials in my administration to call the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to request that they completely allow food, fuel, water and medicine to reach the Yemeni people who desperately need it,” Trump said through a White House press release. “This must be done for humanitarian reasons immediately.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, please let me get my head around this; you are requesting that the Butcher of Yemen, AKA Prince Salman, end the siege of Yemen, after you just publicly recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital, keeping your promise to APIAC, and symbolically writing off your debt of $100 million dollars to Sheldon Adelson during the last campaign and yet, you are expecting all of this to make Prince Salman amenable to ending the seige of Yemen?!?

Sir, I am frantically looking for the logic in this request, and frankly seeing absolutely none.

What I would rather expect, particularly after your declaration yesterday regarding Jerusalem, is for Prince Salman to massively acellerate his bombing campaign in Yemen to the point of wiping out any Yemeni people still standing, in retalliation for your having recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Lebanon's Hezbollah blasts Trump's Jerusalem decision as aggression

Hezbollah lawmakers said on Thursday that U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital constituted an aggression against Palestine and resistance was the only way to recover lost rights.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision marks the “worst and most dangerous” to come from any American administration, Lebanese Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc said.

Trump reversed decades of U.S. policy on Wednesday by recognising disputed Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The decision has imperilled Middle East peace efforts and upset the Arab world and Western allies alike.

'Death Sentence': World Leaders Slam Trump Over Reckless Jerusalem Stunt

US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was roundly denounced by the UN General-Secretary and even US allies in Europe including Germany, France and the UK. But the sharpest rebukes came from Muslim leaders.

The ancient city of Jerusalem is claimed as the capital by both Israel and Palestine, which are locked in a bitter, decades-long dispute over borders and sovereignty. The international community does not recognize the unilateral annexation and considers the status of the city to be one of the core problems of the Middle East conflict. For this reason, all foreign embassies are located in Tel Aviv.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, notes with deep concern the decision of the United States Government, announced today, to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel. Iran says Trump's al-Quds move to spark another Palestinian Intifada

Iran has strongly condemned US President Donald Trump’s decision to move his country’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem al-Quds, saying the measure will ignite a new Palestinian Intifada (uprising).

In a Wednesday night statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Washington’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital is a “blatant violation of international resolutions.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always stressed that the most important reason behind instability and insecurity in the Middle East is [Israel’s] continued occupation, the US’ relentless support for the Zionist regime, and denying the oppressed Palestinian nation the right to establish an independent state with al-Quds as it capital,” the statement said.

Oh Jerusalem: Requiem for the two-state solution

He may have small hands, but US President Donald Trump appears to have a big foot. And with his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, he has shoved it squarely up the part of conventional international Middle East peacemaking diplomacy that never sees the sun.

So far, so good, you might think. Decades of international peacemaking efforts have, after all, failed, as Trump said in his statement, to make peace. What he didn’t add, though, is that it has also largely provided cover for Israel to continue its colonization of occupied territory. And nowhere has Israel done so more egregiously than in Jerusalem itself.

Just days after the Christmas tree lighting in the birthplace of Jesus, Bethlehem, the lights on the giant Christmas tree were turned off at the request of local officials, to protest the US claim that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

The ‘Christmas blackout’ protest also included the Christmas tree in Beit Sahour and the one in Ramallah set up next to the burial site of the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.

This was a decision made by local officials, whose leadership is majority Christian.

'Sad' Saudi royals label Trump ‘irresponsible’ and blast US for 'violating peace process'

The controversial move has sparked international condemnation from the Palestinians, the UK, Turkey and other nations.

The royal court also expressed “deep sorrow” over Trump’s decision, which Saudi Arabia described as unjustified.

Protests broke out in the Gaza Strip in response to US President Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital, as Palestinian leaders called for three days of rage against the move.

Hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets in Gaza City on Wednesday, carrying banners denouncing Trump, hours ahead of his declaration that will also see the US embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The declaration comes amid global condemnation of the decision.

Speaking to Al Jazeera from Gaza, Hamas leader Ismail Haniya described Trump's decision as a "flagrant aggression".

"This decision is an uncalculated gamble that will know no limit to the Palestinian, Arab and Muslim reaction," he said.

War is peace: Trump’s move on occupied Jerusalem

"War in Palestine is peace of mind in Washington. This seems to fit the Trump doctrine. But are the Palestinians really ideal for the role? Israeli commentators believe that Arab and Muslim leaders won’t side with Palestine. The risk is that the Arab and Muslim masses react very differently. The situation could quickly become volatile. And the crucial question that Americans must ask themselves tomorrow morning is how Trump’s “war is peace” makes “America great again”? It doesn’t. This is simply a survival tactic on Trump’s part. It benefits Trump and Trump alone.

As far as I can tell, Trump is doing a great job obliterating what is left of America’s world hegemony. Give Trump another year in office, assuming that the planet can take it, and American prestige and influence will shrink to none. Some may well argue that this alone makes Trump a positive force in contemporary world politics."

Union for Reform Judaism President Rabbi Rick Jacobs released a statement Wednesday expressing concern about US President Donald Trump's expected announcement regarding Jerusalem.

The White House announced that President Trump will make a statement today recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital, with caveats including that the US Embassy remain in Tel Aviv and not be moved to Jerusalem for at least the next six months. However, President Trump has stated repeatedly in the recent past that he intends on beginning the process of relocating the embassy "soon."

"While we share the President’s belief that the US Embassy should... be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, we cannot support his decision to begin preparing that move now, absent a comprehensive plan for a peace process," the statement read. "We urge the President to do everything in his power to move forward with efforts to bring true peace to the region and take no unilateral steps."

Trump to declare Jerusalem capital of Israel: White House officials

The president is expected to officially announce the policy changes in remarks at the White House at 1pm on Wednesday.

A U.S. official and a source close to the White House told ABC News that official recognition of Jerusalem as the capital is expected to be intentionally broad and not meant to preclude the possibility that the Palestinians could claim part of the historic city as a capital of a future Palestinian state. The president does not want to "prejudice" the outcome of any future peace negotiations for a two-state solution, one source familiar with the plan told ABC News.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please; if your desired outcome of this announcement was to light a match and throw it into pools of gasoline in order to ignite the entire Middle East on fire, you certainly have achieved your objective, bravo!! Well done!!

You had to understand that once this announcement was made, Israel will never allow the Palestinians to claim even a tiny portion of Jerusalem as their capital, and will continue to pursue brisk Jewish only settlements, coupled by brisk annexations and demolitions of homes in which Palestinians have lived for decades, which will engulf the West Bank and East Jerusalem into places of extreme violence, which will put both Israelis and Palestinians in great risk for violence.

By this action, you have incontrovertibly proven, and demonstrated fully, that the United states is pathologically incapable of being an honest broker for peace, and that the two state solution is, for all intents, and purposes, dead.

Congratulations on your monumental idiocy on this issue; your good buddy, Prime Minister Netanyahu got precisely what he wanted; but the price, in terms of potential violence for the entire region, is potentially going to be an horrific price to pay.

And one has to speculate; was this how he promised to pay back that hundred million dollar donation from Sheldon Adelson in 2016?!?

ANALYSIS: Four theories behind Trump’s Jerusalem embassy move

US President Donald Trump’s expected announcement of plans to move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem has quickly whipped up a furore, with pundits and foreign leaders warning of intifada-style upheaval and the collapse of Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts.

Which begs the simple question: why announce the move? Trump has spoken of a desire to strike the “ultimate deal” between Israelis and Palestinians – relocating the embassy would likely render Washington unable to play an honest broker in future talks.

Meanwhile, Trump has heard warnings from Arab and European leaders, UN boss Antonio Guterres and even his own State Department pen pushers. The message is clear: an embassy shift would break with decades of US policy and risk fuelling further unrest in the Middle East.

France to Recognize Palestine as Part of European Union

Ambassador of Palestine to France Salman Al-Harfi said the French government has expressed desire to recognize Palestine, but as part of the European Union.
He told in a phone call that France wants to recognize a state of Palestine, but with other European countries taking part, because it will safeguard the peace process, WAFA reported.

“The Palestinian leadership aspires for France to recognize a state of Palestine, assume its role in the Middle East and form the backbone of the supportive European position,” he added.

Al-Harfi expressed said France is pushing for a European recognition in a time where the US is pressuring the European community not to recognize a state of Palestine on the borders of 1967.
