Israel threatens military intervention in Syria's civil war

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's prime minister, has issued a veiled threat to intervene directly in Syria's civil war for the first time, after Syrian rebels surrounded a village occupied by the Druze minority close to the border.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh yeah; we believe Israel is concerned about the Druze ... after we see how they treat the Palestinians! This is just Netanyahu grabbing more of other peoples' lands for Eratz Israel

Ex-Israeli foreign minister granted diplomatic immunity

An anti-war activist has slammed the British government for what he calls protecting war criminals.

“It is a disgraceful policy intended to protect criminals on all levels not just the war criminals and crimes against humanity,” peace activist Kenneth O’Keefe told Press TV on Friday.

He was reacting to a recent decision by the British government to grant diplomatic immunity to former Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni.

Ex-Israeli foreign minister avoids Gaza war crimes arrest thanks to UK diplomatic immunity

Former Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni was granted diplomatic immunity by the British government during a visit to the UK this week to avoid possible arrest over alleged war crimes.

The Zionist Union politician was attending the Fortune Most Powerful Women International Summit in London, where she spoke on the Israeli political climate and the future of Israel and Palestine.

Livni was able to qualify for legal immunity by arranging meetings with British officials, exploiting a legal loophole that protects Israelis on official visits to the UK.

Context of 'February 1982: Article in Israeli Journal Says Israel Should Exploit Internal Tensions of Arab States'

The winter issue of Kivunim, a “A Journal for Judaism and Zionism,” publishes “A Strategy for Israel in the Nineteen Eighties” by Oded Yinon. The paper, published in Hebrew, rejects the idea that Israel should carry through with the Camp David accords and seek peace. Instead, Yinon suggests that the Arab States should be destroyed from within by exploiting their internal religious and ethnic tensions: “Lebanon’s total dissolution into five provinces serves as a precedent for the entire Arab world including Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and the Arabian peninsula and is already following that track. The dissolution of Syria and Iraq later on into ethnically or religiously unique areas such as in Lebanon, is Israel’s primary target on the Eastern front in the long run, while the dissolution of the military power of those states serves as the primary short term target. Syria will fall apart, in accordance with its ethnic and religious structure, into several states such as in present day Lebanon.”

A nuclear war in the Middle East is no longer inconceivable.

It is time to call things by their correct name. A nuclear war in the Middle East is no longer inconceivable. This is the case, moreover, even if Israel were somehow to remain the only nuclear weapons state in the chaotic region.

ISRAEL WINS ONE BATTLE … BUT NOT THE ‘WAR’

Israel won an important victory over the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS) when a boycott on the sale of Israeli products in a supermarket chain in Sweden has been cancelled.

The national supermarket chain COOP has 655 branches across Sweden. Israel, that was worried the boycott would spread from three local stores in the city of Varberg to all branches nationwide, launched an impressive media campaign to combat it.

Atef Abu Saif’s chilling, evocative stories of Gaza onslaught

The 51-day Israeli war on Gaza may be old news to those who follow the Middle East. What news junkies know are the numbers — at least 2,205 Palestinians killed, including 538 children; 11,000 wounded; up to 500,000 residents displaced; more than 20,000 homes destroyed. What they don’t have are the intimate, granular insights that you get only by living through it — or, reading the diary of someone who has, and is also an eloquent, evocative writer.

For instance, do you know how to tell the difference between a missile from a ship, a tank, an F-16 or a drone, by their sound alone? How to prepare your windows when shelling is expected, and where it is safest to sleep? Or what happens to your sense of time in the midst of war?

Israel’s mockery of foreign war correspondents backfires

At a time when Israel has serious issues to deal with in Iran and Syria, it is disconcerting that the ministry would spend its time producing a 50-second video that attempts to ridicule journalists reporting on a conflict in which 2,100 Palestinians and 72 Israelis were killed.

Israel’s diplomatic corps wants to be taken seriously in the world. Posting misleading and poorly conceived videos on YouTube is inappropriate, unhelpful and undermines the ministry, which says it respects the foreign press and its freedom to work in Gaza.

Birthright celebrates its 500,000th participant

The Taglit-Birthright Israel program, which sends young Jews on free trips to Israel, celebrated its milestone 500,000th participant this week.

In a ceremony in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, 24-year-old Molly Dodd from New Jersey presented Birthright cofounders Michael Steinhardt and Charles Bronfman with framed letters from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from 1998, in which he gave his blessing for the program to begin.

Since 2000, approximately 500,000 Jews aged 18-26, from over 66 countries and all 50 US states, have gone on Birthright trips. The free 10-day Jewish identity-building trips immerse young adults in Israeli culture and Jewish history.

In addition, 65,000 Israelis have participated in Birthright’s Mifgash program, which brings together Israelis and Diaspora Jews.

Arson suspected at Church of Loaves and Fish in northern Israel

A fire broke out late Wednesday night to put out a fire at the historic Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish at Tabgha, located on the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel. Sixteen yeshiva students were arrested Thursday morning over suspected involvement in the arson.

16 arrested, then released, in church torching

Police said on Thursday they had detained 16 suspects in connection with the torching of the Church of the Multiplication at Tabgha, on the Sea of Galilee, which was set ablaze early that morning. The group was released a few hours later.

Many of those detained were said to be minors, all from Jewish settlements in the Samaria region in the northern West Bank, including 10 from Yitzhar, which is known as a bastion of extremists. The group had apparently been spending time in the nearby Ein Hokuk spring. . .

. . . In an entrance corridor of the building, which is believed by Christians to be the site of Jesus’s miracle of multiplying two fish and five loaves to feed 5,000 people, Hebrew graffiti was found, reading, “The false gods will be eliminated” — a quote from the Aleinu prayer.

'Anti-Israel mandate': UN human rights envoy blocked from entering Gaza

Israeli authorities have admitted they blocked a UN human rights envoy from entering the occupied Gaza area for a second year in a row, just as a UN report on last year’s Gaza war is about to be made public.

"We didn't allow this visit," said Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon, as cited by AFP. The visit by the UN special rapporteur on human rights, Makarim Wibisono, was due to take place last week.

However, according to Nahshon, the decision doesn’t go against Israel’s commitments to the UN. “Israel cooperates with all the international commissions and all rapporteurs, except when the mandate handed to them is anti-Israeli and Israel has no chance to make itself heard."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Journalists blast Israeli govt cartoon mocking Gaza news coverage

Israel’s Foreign Ministry has produced a 50-second cartoon mocking foreign reporting on Gaza, urging people to see that “terrorism rules” there. Apart from arguably lacking comedic value, the clip was slammed as being in poor taste by international media.

The animated short shows a blond, presumably American reporter in Gaza talking about how it’s a modern society where “ordinary people” are just trying to live their lives – “no terrorists here.” As the reporter’s praise for the locals continues, Hamas member can be seen in the back launching rockets.

Rebels surround Druze village in Syria's Golan: activists

Rebels surrounded a government-held Druze village on the Syrian side of the cease-fire line on the Golan Heights Wednesday after heavy fighting, activists said.

The advance came a day after Israel, which has a significant Druze population, said it was preparing for the possibility that refugees fleeing fighting in the area might seek to cross to the Israeli-occupied side of the strategic plateau.

Sole Palestinian dropped from “Holy Land” conference under Israel lobby pressure

On 10 and 11 June, dozens of participants gathered at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, for a conference titled “Seeking Peace in the Holy Land.”

Among the speakers were staunch supporters of Israel, including former US ambassador in Tel Aviv Daniel Kurtzer, Lara Friedman of the liberal Zionist group Americans for Peace Now and Warren Clark, director of Churches for Middle East Peace.

But there was not one single Palestinian on the program. That wasn’t supposed to be the case. Just days earlier, Mubarak Awad, the Palestinian founder of Nonviolence International, was disinvited as keynote speaker after pressure on organizers from the Jewish Federation of Columbus.

Awad would have been a good person to educate those gathered at the Christian college. It was precisely because of his advocacy and practice of nonviolence that the Jerusalem native was infamously forcibly exiled from Palestine by Israeli occupation forces in 1988, during the first intifada.

Israel destroys Palestinian home for second time

The Israeli authorities demolished a Palestinian home for the second time this year in the Galilee village of Kufr Kana yesterday.

The home belongs to Tareq al-Khatib, who rebuilt it after Israeli bulldozers first razed it in April. Following the home’s reconstruction, Israel’s interior ministry issued yet another demolition order “under the pretext of unauthorized construction,” the Arab48 website reports.

Although heavily armed Israeli forces arrived on the scene before sunrise, “hundreds of people gathered near the house in an attempt to prevent the demolition,” adds Arab48. Clashes quickly broke out between local Palestinians and police, who attacked the residents with stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets.

In the end, the home was demolished and four people were arrested, including al-Khatib.

Why has Israel embraced al-Qaida’s branch in Syria?

During his 2014 address to the UN General Assembly, Benjamin Netanyahu declared that “fighting militant Islam is indivisible.”

The Israeli prime minister’s crude attempts to conflate ISIS with Hamas should not be allowed to conceal an important truth: Israel aids the forces of “militant Islam” when it is considered opportune to do so.

The most egregious example of such aid in recent times has been Israel’s support for Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaida’s franchise in Syria, as witnessed by UN peacekeeping forces stationed in the occupied Golan Heights.

Israel’s collusion with al-Qaida has been virtually ignored by the American media, with a few exceptions. For example, The Wall Street Journal reported in March that Israel has been treating wounded al-Nusra fighters and then sending them back into the Golan to battle Hizballah and the Syrian army.

Stuxnet-Like Digital Attack on Iran Nuclear Talks May Have Come from Israel, Security Researchers Say

Moscow-based technical security company Kaspersky Lab last week revealed evidence of a new cyber attack on both its own network and those of several European hotels that hosted nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 (US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany) last year.

This follows a March 2015 Wall Street Journal report that revealed senior White House officials knew Israel was spying on talks surrounding Iran's nuclear program. The report explained, “the spying operation was part of a broader campaign by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to penetrate the negotiations and then help build a case against the emerging terms of the deal.”

Israel and the politics of boycott

There is however a different history of the uses of the boycott. In contrast with its uses to force the end of race, class and colonial injustice, boycott would also be deployed as a tactic to bring about colonial and racial injustice. Zionism would be a pioneer in this regard. Upon the formalisation of Zionist settler colonialism in the 1897 First Zionist Congress, Jewish colonists were incensed that earlier Russian Jewish agricultural colonists who had settled in Palestine since the 1880s would employ Palestinian labour in their colonies, on account of its availability and cheapness. It was in this context that Zionism would develop its racially separatist notion of "Hebrew labour", insisting and later imposing its regulations on all Jewish colonists in Palestine, namely that Jewish labour should be used exclusively in the Jewish settler-colony.

Criminalizing Criticism: A Zionist Project

From the 1920s on into the 1990s, the Zionists controlled the storyline in the West on the Israel-Palestine conflict. This meant that their version of history was the only version as far as most of the people in the West were concerned. Consequentially, they had an uncontested media field to label the Palestinians and their supporters as "terrorists" - the charge of anti-Semitism was not yet widely used. Also, as a consequence of their monopoly, the Zionists did not bother to engage in public debate. Then, over the last twenty years the Zionists slowly lost their monopoly ... Besides the public outcry over anti-Semitism, the Zionists are working behind closed doors - the closed doors of American state and federal legislatures and university board rooms - where they do not have to face serious debate.

Palestinian government to resign in next 24 hours: Abbas

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has announced that his government will be dissolved within the next 24 hours, Fatah officials say.

“Within 24 hours the Palestinian government will resign,” several senior officials of Abbas’ Fatah movement quoted him as saying at the 15th Fatah Revolutionary Council conference held in the West Bank city of Ramallah late on Tuesday.

The inability to exert authority in the besieged and war-torn Gaza Strip has been cited as the main point of dispute between Fatah and Hamas and the reason for the resignation of the first Palestinian unity government, forged by the two rival movements in June 2014.

“The government will resign in the next 24 hours because this one is weak and there is no chance that Hamas will allow it to work in Gaza," Amin Maqbul, the secretary general of the Revolutionary Council, which serves as the Fatah’s legislative body, told AFP.

Taking Note - The Editorial Page Editor's BlogIsrael’s Ludicrous Spoof of Western Journalists

If you don’t have a good story to tell, a tried and tested tactic is to lampoon the press.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry, which is bracing for a United Nations report on its conduct during last year’s war in Gaza, gave it a shot this week.

It was lame. It wasn’t funny. It was offensive.

The ministry released an animated video depicting a clueless, blonde, American-accented television journalist reporting idiotically from the Gaza Strip as Hamas militants lurked in the background. The spoof echoes a longstanding claim by the Israeli government: that Western journalists reporting from Gaza are often biased against Israel and refrain from criticizing Hamas, the militant group that runs the occupied territory.

Israel has claimed the Israel Defence Forces’ operation in Gaza last summer was a moral, defensive war conducted in accordance with international law.

The publication on Sunday of a report written in conjunction with Israeli government ministries was timed to occur days before the release of the findings of an investigation by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) into possible war crimes by Israel and Hamas.

Officials: Israel to Seize Syria Border, Create Druze ‘Buffer Zone’

Israeli officials quoted in the nation’s popular online site Walla News reported they are engaged in talks with the International Red Cross and “various countries” about a plan to seize part of the Syrian border and establish a “humanitarian buffer zone” for the nation’s Druze minority.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel could care less about the Druze. This is just an excuse for Israel to annex more of Syria!

Israeli Special Units Brutally Attack Sick Prisoner

Israeli soldiers from the Nahshon special unit Sunday severely assaulted a sick Palestinian prisoner, while he was being transferred to hospital to undergo medical examination.

Prisoner Mohammed Abd Rabo, 29, told a Palestinian Prisoner’s Club (PPC) lawyer, who visited him in the Israeli Nafha jail following the assault, that around 20 soldiers from Nahshon unit severally assualted him for asking them to untie his hands and feet during his transfer to Soroka Medical Center, in Israel, for medical examination.

He said that soldiers brutally attacked him and threw him on the floor before sending him back to jail without taking him to hospital.

Abd Rabo, who was sentenced to 16 years in jail, suffers from what he described as unbearable pain due to chronic stomach pain and vomiting. He said that the Israeli prison administration only provides him with over the counter pain killers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But reading the UN report on the last Israeli incursion into Gaza is, according to Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu, a "waste of time"?!?

Apparently, in Netnayahu's mind, torture and serial genocide against Palestinians is "normal", so the world should just get used to it!!

2014 Gaza offensive was ‘unfortunate yet lawful’ – Israel ahead of UN probe results

Israel has released a report that argues Operation Protective Edge against Hamas Gaza during the summer of 2014 was lawful, a move aimed at pre-empting the findings of the UN war crimes investigation into the war, which is due to be released this week.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel is in the same mindset as Hillary; thinking like lawyers to evade their crimes. But ordinary people are not lawyers, and politics is perception!

WHY THE WAR AGAINST BDS? ….. THE REAL REASON

Do you wonder why Benjamin Netanyahu is declaring war on BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions), and Sheldon Adelson and Haim Saban are holding a secret Las Vegas conference to fight it, and Yair Lapid is saying that the people behind BDS plotted 9/11, and Ari Shavit is calling the movement “evil and sophisticated”?

THE JUSTIFIED HOLOCAUST

Government-sanctioned report is released as ‘pre-emptive strike’ ahead of international UN report due to come out this month; authors say report provides evidence to justify Israel’s decision to launch war in Gaza based on international law.

Tel Aviv moves to block release of UN report on Israeli war crimes

Tel Aviv seeks to prevent the release of the findings of a UN investigation into Israeli war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza, with the prime minister of the regime labeling such a move as a “waste of time.”

Addressing Israeli ministers on Sunday, Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that “whoever wants a baseless automatic accusation against Israel can waste their time reading the UN report.”

Israel’s UN Mission Accused of Deceiving NY Member States

An official at one of the permanent missions for a European country told Days of Palestine that the Israeli mission had circulated misleading information about its human rights record in occupied Palestine.

“We received emails from the Israeli mission, including direct instructions, which is against our sovereignty as a state, not to believe the recent Human Rights Watch report and rely only on two organisations they recommended,” the official said.

“When we googled these NGOs, we knew that they were Israelis,” the official, who preferred to keep the name of his Western-European country unknown, added.

He further criticised the Israeli behaviour at the UN, which is often supported by the United States. “We are disgusted in some of the European countries about what Israel and the US are doing,” he said, “It is rather shameful that Israel attempts to mislead us.”

Three Victories For 9-11 TRUTH Advocate Mr. Christopher Bollyn

It is good to see the videos from Mr. Christopher Bollyn's
"Solving 9-11 Ends The War" 2015 tour continuing to go Truth Viral.

"NEW 2015! Solving 9/11 Christopher Bollyn Live in Dallas TX Feb 12, 2015"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVHstSrC1CQ

Yes, this was a highly successful tour by 9-11 TRUTH Advocate Mr. Christopher Bollyn which I think have scored three great victories for Bollyn and the Truth Movement.

First, there was the concern as to what would happen the second Mr. Bollyn stepped onto Zio-Occupied U.S. Soil as he has been in political exile ever since The Tribe released "Jubala, Jubalo, and Jubalum" with guns and badges on him and his family back in 2006 in an attempt to silence him by beating him up on his own property . . ..

. . .and then, in typical Jewish Modus Operandi, turned around, played the "victim" and claimed Mr. Bollyn "assaulted" the "innocent Police Officers" ("Heroes" since 9-11, of course).

Dershowitz spills the beans: Supreme Court’s Jerusalem case impact on Iran deal

Alan Dershowitz has been giving a few interviews this week lambasting Mondays’ Supreme Court decision overturning an unconstitutional 2002 law on Jerusalem. Predictably, he doesn’t like it. According to Dershowitz, the ruling is not only “silly” and “utterly unnecessary“–it’s also “dangerous to the world”.

Why? because Dershowitz thinks it gives too much power to the President over Congress regarding the Iran deal. He’s wrong but it’s interesting for what it revealed about the intentions of the parties pushing the case.

During an interview broadcast last night on an Israeli TV station he spilled the beans.

Why are journalists surprised that Israel kills children?

There was nothing surprising about Israel finding itself not culpable for the killing of four boys on a Gaza beach in July last year, as it did in a military judgment released a few days ago.

Israel’s investigations into its own crimes aren’t known for delivering guilty verdicts.

Press TV-Gilad Atzmon on Steven Salaita, University of Illinois and Jewish Power

A leading academic group has slammed the University of Illinois for refusing to employ a professor over his anti-Israel tweets.
The American Association of University Professors says the decision to withdraw Steven Salaita’s job offer is against the principle of academic freedom. Salaita lost the opportunity over his Twitter posts which exposed Israel’s atrocities in the Gaza Strip. The group has described Salaita’s tweets as expressions of outrage in strong language over the war in Gaza. The University’s chancellor has reacted to the censure, saying it will have repercussions and will be taken seriously.

US and Israel Bar Palestinian Filmmaker From NYC Film Premiere About Intifada Cows

The annual Human Rights Watch International Film Festival is underway here in New York City, but one of its featured directors won’t be able to attend his film’s US premiere this weekend. That’s because Israel recently deemed Palestinian filmmaker Amer Shomali a "security threat" and prevented him from traveling to Jerusalem to obtain a US visa. Then he went to Amman, Jordan, where the US approved a visa but said their visa machine was broken. Shomali had previously attended half a dozen European festivals without incident, and his film has drawn international acclaim.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently it is a First Amendment right to Freedom of Speech to allow Pamela Geller to insult Muslims all day long, but this man is not allowed to enter US to attend showing of his film in NYC.

Israel confronts former soldiers on tell-all mission

Occupied Jerusalem: An organisation of former Israeli soldiers dedicated to shedding light on the dark side of the country’s military is coming increasingly under fire, roiling a country in the grips of a battle against the burgeoning threat of international isolation and boycotts.

The group, Breaking the Silence, says that without its work stories of improper or even illegal behaviour against Palestinians would remain hidden from an Israeli public that reveres the military. But the group has come under attack from legislators who threaten its funding and say it could help turn Israel into a pariah state.

Since its founding in 2004, Breaking the Silence has collected the testimonies of more than 1,000 veterans in a bid to expose the underbelly of the decades-old occupation of the West Bank. It has taken those accounts to audiences in Israel and around the world, including a recent 10-day photo exhibit in Zurich, Switzerland.

IS IT TOO LATE FOR A JUST PEACE IN PALESTINE?

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu continues to adopt brazen mendacity and dishonesty as his modus operandi vis-à-vis the rest of the world.

In fact, one would exaggerate very little by saying that Netanyahu is probably the most dishonest political figure in Israel ever since the racist Jewish entity came into being in Palestine 67 years ago.

MY FAMILY’S JOURNEY FROM BARCELONA TO AUSCHWITZ ~~ AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PARLIAMENT OF SPAIN

Allow me to fill you in on the ‘journey’ of my own family after the expulsion; Rather than going to one of the Muslim countries in North Africa, as many others did, they chose to go to Turkey. Those that went to North Africa received a much warmer welcome, which resulted in my family eventually going on to a new situation in Holland.

They found there that in order to succeed economically they would have to assimilate with the Eastern European Jewish Community (Ashkenazim), a fate much less severe than the forced conversions to Catholicism for those who remained in Spain.

Again, after a number of years they once again moved on, this time splitting up, some going to Slovakia, the others to Hungary. Many of those in Hungary pursued their Jewish educations and became prominent members of the rabbinical community, included was Rabbi Shlomo Gantzfried, co-author of The Code of Jewish Law.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As long as we are wandering through the family tree here, my own ancestors left Judea for Madrid about 70AD, because the Romans were being jerks. We became noble...

... and joined in the crusades to try to win back the old homestead in the holy lands. (That didn't work out.)

Then in 1492, Queen Isabella was a jerk and (after getting those heavy metal torture devices untangled from our naughty bits) the family fled to Portugal. Things settled down until 1758 and the failed attempt to assassinate King Joseph I. There is no evidence the Riveros were involved, but during the upheaval that follows such an event, old scores get settled and once again the family found themselves in dark rooms with heavy metal torture devices clamped onto delicate portions of their anatomy. After their release, the family joined the European migration to the orient, settling in Shanghai, until the start of WW2 which brought my father to the US as an MIT student.

Palestinian ‘bumped off’ by Israeli troops

Ramallah: A 22-year-old Palestinian man was shot in his spine before being run over by an Israeli military vehicle in the village of Kofr Malek, east of Ramallah.

Palestinian medical sources told Gulf News that Israeli occupation troops had been chasing Abdullah Eyad Ghanayem when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which hit Ghanayem and ran him over. Ghanayem was left bleeding under the jeep for several hours even as the soldiers denied access to medics trying to assist him.

: BAPTIST PASTOR STEVEN ANDERSON SAYS JEWISH HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS ARE ALL ‘PAID LIARS’

Steven Anderson brands all the still-living Holocaust survivors as “paid liars” who are simply lying when they talk about their experiences in Hitler’s death camps. Outlaw preacher Steven Anderson wants you to know that the Jews are not God’s chosen people, and that Hitler’s Holocaust never even happened. Mr. Anderson, you may recall, first became “famous” for his refusal to show his ID to police officers at a traffic checkpoint. Guess he never bothered to read the fine print on his drivers license that says it must produced on demand. Driving, you may recall, is a privilege and not a “right”.
