Taliban Reject Laying Down Arms, Tell US to Stop Violence
The Taliban called on the US to end the use of force in Afghanistan instead of putting pressure on the militant group to lay down its arms.

***
In our opening session, I underscored to the Talibs that the Afghan people, who are their brothers & sisters, want this war to end," Khalilzad wrote.

The Taliban spokesman reacted to the remarks on Friday, stating that Washington “should forget about the idea of us putting down our arms”.

“Instead of such fantasies, he should drive the idea home (to the US) about ending the use of force and incurring further human and financial losses for the decaying Kabul administration,” he added.

Mujahid noted that the United States must stop repeating failed strategies while expecting different outcomes>>>

Nasrallah Says Hezbollah Able to Crush Israeli Troops in Case of Lebanon Attack

The Lebanese-based Hezbollah militant group has sufficient resources to enter Israel’s border region of Galilee and "destroy" Israeli forces in case if the IDF attacks Lebanon, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said.

"The resistance has many strong and decisive means. The time for a quick war is over. The resistance is capable of entering Galilee… That part of Israel that thinks about intervention in Lebanon will be destroyed and crushed," Nasrallah said live on the Al-Manar TV channel on Thursday.

Israel’s UN Ambassador waves a bible at the Security Council

Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon is now claiming the bible as proof to Israel’s fundamental right to all of Palestine.

During his speech at a UN Security Council meeting on Monday, Danon held up a bible at for all the ambassadors present to see and said, “This is our deed to our land.”

Danon is claiming ownership to all of Palestine, which he calls “Eretz Yisrael” at a time when the international community is worried about Netanyahu realizing his recent election promise to annex the occupied West Bank.

NYU department votes to not cooperate with study abroad program in Israel

By a majority vote, faculty in NYU’s Department of Social and Cultural Analysis have passed a resolution that pledges non-cooperation with the university’s study abroad program in Tel Aviv. Citing the obligation to uphold the university’s Policy of Ethical Conduct on non-discrimination and equal opportunity, the faculty declared non-cooperation with the program until the Israeli state both ends its restrictions on entry based on ancestry and political speech, as well as adopts policies granting visas for exchanges to Palestinian universities on a fully equal basis as it does to Israeli universities. Members of the department as well as the NYU community at large have been impacted by these policies and so their right to academic freedom and movement has effectively been constrained.

More New ‘AIPACs’ Popping Up

New organizations dedicated to “defending” Israel are proliferating due to concerns that the American people are finally waking up to the fact that they have been getting ripped off by a vast Zionist conspiracy for the past 70-plus years. Ironically, while it has become possible to criticize Israel even in the mainstream media, the United States government itself has become more firmly in the grasp of the Israel lobby, most recently manifested in bills passed by Congress pledging undying love and affection for war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu and all his works. This has been due in large part to the effective lobbying by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which met in Washington in March and drew 18,000 of its supporters to both show up and lobby their congressmen.

Twitter May Have Been Bought By Israel

Palestinian accounts get suspended on social media platforms all the time. Twitter suspensions and deletions are clearly noticeable.

Palestinian Voices is an upcoming news outlet run by young people, that gives children and other youngsters a free platform to publish their stories — factual, fictional or otherwise.

It’s a new venture with a thousand learning curves yet to be swerved and dunams of space to hone unchartered skills in the search for professionalism and leadership. It’s exciting to see it unfold.

Recently, not one, not two, but three members of the team have had their accounts destroyed. Abdulraheem Alfarra, Bahaa Shammala, and Saif Eldden Bitar: Twitter’s waste disposal unit has been busy recently.

Israel had plutonium core ready to turn into nuke in ’67 war, US journal reveals

In the lead-up to the 1967 Six Day War, Israel hid a plutonium core in an old British-built police station outside the town of Gedera, with plans to turn it into a functioning nuclear bomb if necessary, according to testimony from a former Israeli official who guarded the site, which was published Wednesday.

The article was published as part of a new series on the nuclear aspect of the Six Day War in the Nonproliferation Review, a journal run by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies that describes itself as focusing on the “causes and consequences of the spread of weapons of mass destruction.”

Netanyahu bars all 181 Palestinian participants from attending joint Memorial Day ceremony

The unique joint Memorial Day ceremony brings Israelis and Palestinians on both sides together to mourn and acknowledge each other’s grief for loved ones killed in the conflict

Israel turned down all 181 applications of Palestinians from the West Bank invited by the organizers of a joint Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day ceremony in Tel Aviv. Sources told Haaretz that the order banning the Palestinians came from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who also serves as defense minister. Netanyahu’s bureau declined to comment.

A statement in response to the applications said: “The requests were denied because there is a closure on the eve of Memorial Day.” Such a closure is imposed every year, but in previous years, invited Palestinians were allowed to enter Israel on the eve of the ceremony, which has been held since 2006.

ADL head calls NY Times cartoon ‘vile anti-Semitic propaganda’

Anti-Defamation League chief Jonathan Greenblatt excoriated The New York Times over the weekend for publishing a cartoon that depicted anti-Semitic tropes ... The graphic, which was in Thursday's international print edition, showed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a guide dog wearing a Star of David on his collar, leading a blind US President Donald Trump, seen wearing a skullcap and Hasidic garb. ... "I wouldn't even credit it as a cartoon," Greenblatt said. "It was anti-Semitic propaganda of the most vile sort. Not only does it not belong in The New York Times, but it in any credible news outlet. It was unconscionable."
Note: Propaganda alright...Israeli style. The cartoon is only incorrect in that Netanyahu of Israel should be holding the lease. Total bull!

TRUMP’S CRUSADERS MARCH TO WAR

This is the latest attempt by the United States to crush Iran's independent-minded government and return it to American tutelage. The Trump administration has demanded that the principal importers of 1.2 billion barrels of Iranian oil halt purchases almost immediately. This imperial diktat includes China, South Korea, Turkey, India and Japan. The comprehensive embargo is very close to an all-out act of war ... The oil embargo not only violates international law, it sets the US on a collision course with some of its most important allies and vassal states ... Iran, a proud, ancient nation of 80 million, has become, with Turkey, the most effective opposition to America's imperial domination of the Mideast and a key supporter of Palestinian rights and statehood. This has put Iran on a collision course with Israel and its influential American supporters

The lack of scrutiny given by the mainstream media to Bolton and Pompeo’s claims is yet another troubling sign of the transformation of many mainstream media outlets into faithful government stenographers.

Just a week after the former CIA director and now secretary of state admitted that the agency prior to and under his direction “lied,” “cheated” and “stole,” Mike Pompeo has delivered another claim that, despite his recent admission of dishonesty, has been regurgitated with little scrutiny by a variety of media outlets.

BARR BATTLE BOILS OVER

***
Neal Katyal: The system is working - NYT: “Many who watched Attorney General William Barr’s testimony on Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which followed the revelation that the special counsel Robert Mueller had expressed misgivings about Mr. Barr’s characterization of his report, are despairing about the rule of law. I am not among them. I think the system is working, and inching, however slowly, toward justice. When it comes to investigating a president, the special counsel regulations I had the privilege of drafting in 1998-99 say that such inquiries have one ultimate destination: Congress. That is where this process is going, and has to go. We are in the fifth inning, and we should celebrate a system in which our own government can uncover so much evidence against a sitting president.”

How the Pentagon Took Ownership of Donald Trump

Donald Trump is a con man. Think of Trump University or a juicy Trump steak or can’t-lose casinos (that never won). But as president, one crew he hasn't conned is the Pentagon. Quite the opposite, they've conned him because they've been at the game a lot longer and lie (in Trump-speak) in far biglier ways.

People condemn President Trump for his incessant lying and his con games -- and rightly so. But few Americans condemn the Pentagon and the rest of the national security state, even though we’ve been the victims of their long con for decades now. As it happens, from the beginning of the Cold War to late last night, they’ve remained remarkably skilled at exaggerating the threats the U.S. faces and, believe me, that represents the longest con of all. It’s kept the military-industrial complex humming along, thanks to countless trillions of taxpayer dollars, while attempts to focus a spotlight on that scam have been largely discredited or ignored.

One thing should have, but hasn’t, cut through all the lies: the grimly downbeat results of America’s actual wars. War by its nature tells harsh truths -- in this case, that the U.S. military is anything but “the finest fighting force that the world has ever known.”>>>

Trump Likely to Be Barred from Addressing UK Parliament During State Visit

During his upcoming state visit to the UK next month, Donald Trump will most likely not address the UK Parliament, as House of Commons Speaker John Bercow continues to oppose the idea of the US president addressing the body.
According to a report by The Guardian, the US president will visit the UK between June 3 and June 5. During the visit, Trump will attend ceremonies marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944, when the Allied forces (Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union and the US) invaded Northern France (then occupied by Germany) through beach landings during World War II.

"I feel very strongly that our opposition to racism and sexism and our support for equality before the law and an independent judiciary are hugely important considerations in the House of Commons," Bercow said back in 2017, after UK Prime Minister Theresa May first invited Trump for a state visit.

Last week, Bercow and opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn also both refused an invitation to attend a banquet to be held in honor of Trump's state visit in June.

The Guardian, citing anonymous government sources, wrote that it is unlikely Trump will be allowed to address Parliament>>>

Einar Tangen on Trump's Ignorance

Einar Tangen: Trump Ignorant about Geo-Economics Principles, US to Experience Major Job Losses
TEHRAN (FNA)- Einar Tangen, Political and Economic Affairs Commentator, says US-China trade war is an evidence supporting that US President Donald Trump is unable to perceive the difference between the real estate branding business and geo-economics.

In an exclusive interview with FNA, Einar Tangen said he believes the US-China trade war will eventually hit the US more than China, saying, “US consumers, especially lower and middle class families, who have used cheaper international goods to offset their stagnant real disposable income will be faced with sharply higher costs of clothes, furniture, shoes and appliances… [resulting in] more expensive US exports and significant job losses.”

A number of tanks belonging to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) allegedly crossed the demilitarized zone in the occupied Golan Heights and entered Syria’s Al-Quneitra Governorate, the Sputnik News Agency’s Arabic language channel reported on Thursday

Israel blocks Palestinian family reunification hearings over ‘workload’

Israeli authorities are blocking Palestinian family unification applications at the Interior Ministry’s office in occupied East Jerusalem, because of the “intolerable workload”, reported Haaretz.

For the last 18 months or so, the paper reported, “a Palestinian grandfather living in East Jerusalem has been trying to obtain resident status for his three grandchildren, who were all born in East Jerusalem and suffer from mental disabilities”.

“The three live with the grandfather, who is their guardian, but don’t have resident status in Israel because their father is dead and their mother lives in the West Bank,” the paper added.

After 11 reminders were sent to the Interior Ministry’s Population and Immigration Authority, the Authority answered, “asking a ministry appeals tribunal to reject the family’s appeal” – a rejection based not on the merits, but due to the workload at the ministry’s East Jerusalem office.

What defines the EU’s relations with Israel and the Palestinians?

As the Palestinian Authority’s financial deficit continues to get worse, the European Union has announced that it will be assisting humanitarian endeavours for Palestinians with an additional $24.7 million of aid. Federica Mogherini, the EU’s foreign policy chief, declared that the EU will retain its role as “the most reliable donor to the Palestinians.”

A reliable donor, however, does not compensate for the absence of a political partner which takes Palestinian demands seriously. The EU continues to distinguish between humanitarian aid for Palestinians and economic relations with Israel, putting the latter at a very distinct advantage.

Israel’s ‘Nation-State Law’ merely confirms its lifelong racist nature

The “nation-state” basic law passed in the Israeli parliament last year was denounced widely in the West. The law states that Israel does not belong to all its citizens, but is instead the “the Nation-State of the Jewish people”. The text further stipulates that the “right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people.”

The drafters of the law made it crystal clear that Israel’s Palestinian citizens – some 20 per cent of the population within the territories Israel occupied in 1948 – are not equal citizens; instead, they are colonial subjects.

Due to the fact that this new law, which has constitutional status, made the racism of Israel so explicit, it was quite widely opposed in the West. The Guardian in its editorial on the subject concluded that “The new law won’t help – it amplifies rather than counteracts Israeli democracy’s worst tendencies.”

Why Biden’s toughest opponent is his criminal justice record

***

For many groups in the Democratic Party, the Crime Bill was seen as a devastating expansion of the police state disproportionately shouldered by communities of color. It is seen as a law that is racist in part and one that has limited the economic, social, and educational opportunities among demographic groups already facing significant challenges in each. Although many in the Democratic Party see portions of the Crime Bill, including the assault weapons ban and the Violence Against Women Act, as positives, it is Biden’s authorship and support of the law as damning. (It should be noted that the only other 2020 presidential candidate who was serving in Congress in 1994, then-Rep. Bernie Sanders, voted in favor of the bill.)

As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Mr. Biden pushed legislation that expanded the War on Drugs and as a Senator and Vice President, he did little to reform America’s addiction to treating drug use as a public safety rather than public health problem.>>>

Grant Smith comes back on the show to explain the polling around American support for Palestine. Last month Gallup quietly revealed that support for Palestine among Americans is now higher than support for Israel. Israel’s fear of democracy

In the wake of its recent elections, some of Israel’s liberal backers have been fretting that the self-described Jewish state is becoming ever less democratic.

“The general celebratory line in Israel and among its Western supporters since its establishment in 1948 – that the country has been able to balance its two important ideals and core principles, namely that it is a Jewish and presumably a universally democratic state – has shifted recently among some to lamenting that it is this balance that was offset by the recent rightwing tilt in the country,” Columbia University professor Joseph Massad told an audience in London last week.

This rightward shift is what has supposedly enabled Israel’s passage of its apartheid-like Nation-State law and the abandonment of its universal democractic identity in favor of an exclusivist Jewish one.

ISRAELI ENVOY CALLS FOR CRIMINALIZING ANTISEMITISM AFTER NYT CARTOON

The only way to stop antisemitism is to criminalize it, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon told reporters in New York on Monday.

“The time for talking and having a conversation is over,” Danon said. “What Israel and the Jewish community around the world demand is action - and now."

Danon, speaking on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council meeting, said that those who engage in antisemitism "must be punished. Whether it is here at the UN [or by] political leaders, editors, policy pundits or college professors, it does not matter.

“Antisemitism should have no place in our society," he continued. "Until it becomes criminal, this bigotry will persist; it will fester. It is only a matter of time until it erupts again in violence and bloodshed."

The War on Syria Continues. Iran Is Next?

The war on Syria is not over. Western -supported terrorists still occupy Idlib, as well as al Tanif, and strategic resource-rich areas East of the Euphrates. The Al- Rukban concentration camp[1] still holds about 40,000 desperate and dying captives, and the Al-Hawl camp[2] holds 73,000 captives.

The West’s terrorists are expendable, but the West supports them all, including al Qaeda, ISIS, and the YPG/SDF terrorists.

Under the familiar pretense of “going after ISIS”, the Western coalition carpet bombed Raqqa, shipped ISIS out, and re-occupied the ruins with SDF proxies – occupiers posing as liberators.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am hoping and praying that the US, and Israeli governments , will not be so stupid as to believe, for one second, that they can conquer Iran, either militarily, or with some form of regime change.

If Russia thinks, for one second, that Iran is headed toward a crisis, my bet would be under threat from harm, they may immediately start propping up Iran with their own military and weaponry.

As we have seen from incredible performances by Russian military and their weaponry in Syria, the Russians have both the person-power,and weapons, to keep the Israelis and US forces at bay.

Blame Palestinians for GazaIsrael is the perpetual victim

If you have read a recent New York Times op-ed entitled “Care about Gaza? Blame Hamas” written by none other than the White House “special representative for international negotiations” Jason Greenblatt you would understand that the misery being experienced by Palestinians in Gaza is all their own fault. Greenblatt, who is Jewish of the Orthodox persuasion, just happens to be a strong supporter of Israel’s settlements, which he claims are “not an obstacle to peace.” He is very upset because some naysayers are actually putting some of the blame for the human catastrophe in Gaza on Israel, which we Americans all know is our best friend in the whole world and our most loyal ally. If that were not so, the New York Times and those fine people in Congress and the White House would surely inform us otherwise. And anyway, what are a few lies and war crimes between friends?

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Kushner and Greenblatt are pathologically incapable of realizing, (or just flat don't want to), is that for the Palestinians, this is not an issue about money; it is an issue of homeland, where generations of their ancestors once lived.

And money... even as attractively as I am sure the White House and Tel Aviv are spinning this proposal...is no compensation for Palestinians who cannot forget their history, or their homelands.

REDUCTION OF GAZA FISHING ZONE AN 'ILLEGAL COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT'

A decision by the Israeli military to scale down the permitted fishing zone in the besieged Gaza Strip comes as "no surprise" to the enclave's 4,000 fishermen.

"The decision did not come as a surprise. The occupation always backs down from agreements that affect fishermen in the strip," Zakaria Bakr, head of Gaza's fishermen's union, told Al Jazeera.

Citing an alleged rocket attack, the Israeli army said on Tuesday fishing in Gaza would only be permitted up to six nautical miles (11km) until further notice.

The move came after Israel extended the zone to a maximum of 15 nautical miles on April 1 as part of an Egypt-brokered ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the group that governs the Gaza Strip.

The decision was in response to a rocket fired by the Islamic Jihad group late on Monday, the Israeli army said in a statement on Tuesday, an allegation the Palestinian group denies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel doesn't want to be seen as a killer of Palestinians, one by one, as the optics of such an act would be frightful; but having Palestinians slowly starving in Gaza, quietly, because of this restriction?!?

Israel cuts offshore Gaza fishing limit after rocket launch by militants

Israel reduced the offshore fishing limit it imposes for vessels operating out of Gaza on Tuesday. The move follows rocket fire from the territory by Palestinian militants.

A military spokeswoman said the rocket fell into the Mediterranean, a few kilometers off the Israeli coast. It was fired by Gaza’s second largest militant group, Islamic Jihad, an ally of the territory’s Islamist rulers Hamas, an army source told AFP.

The fishermen’s union said that a number of fishing boats came under Israeli naval fire early on Tuesday after the military accused them of breaching the fishing boundaries. The statement did not report any casualties.

Gaza fishermen will now be able to operate no more than six nautical miles into the Mediterranean, down from up to 15 nautical miles, which Israel had allowed since April 1.

ICC public hearing to look into case of Mavi Marmara

International Criminal Court (ICC) is to hold a public hearing tomorrow to look into the Israeli attack on the humanitarian flotilla the Mavi Marmara in 2010, the International Committee for Breaking the Siege announced yesterday.

Earlier, the Appeals Chamber turned down an appeal made by the Public Prosecutor against the Pre-Trial Chamber which requested that the Public Prosecutor review her decision on closing the case without investigation.

“Holding a hearing on this issue is considered very important as it came as a result of the efforts exerted by the legal team of the Freedom Flotilla, which is being recruited by the Turkish IHH, the owner of the Mavi Marmara and member of the Freedom Flotilla,” the statement said.

According to an article in Arutz Sheva, citing a report by Israel Hayom, Israel’s Tourism Ministry “will aid entrepreneurs who want to invest in building or expanding hotels in Judea and Samaria [the occupied West Bank]”.

The entrepreneurs can now apply for a grant of up to 20 per cent of their intended investment.

Israel Hayom reported that a meeting held earlier this year between senior settler officials and the managers of Israeli travel agencies in the occupied West Bank “showed that the number of guest units is insufficient, causing tourists to avoid staying in the area for more than a day”.

According to the report, the government grants “are intended to encourage investors to open additional guest units in [illegal settlements in] Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley [the occupied West Bank]”.

Head of human rights group: ‘Israel is not a democracy’

The head of Israel’s most prominent human rights group has declared that “Israel is not a democracy”, writing in an op-ed for +972 Magazine.

Hagai El-Ad, executive director of B’Tselem, was addressing the decision by a Jerusalem court to authorise the deportation of Omar Shakir, the Israel and Palestine director of Human Rights Watch.

The ruling, according to El-Ad, “did not reinvent the wheel”, but rather followed a path “paved by the Knesset members who legislated, the attorneys who defended, and the Supreme Court justices who made this all possible”.

El-Ad noted that the court decision is based on legislation that depends on “the doctrine of ‘defensive democracy,’ and the right of the state to defend itself and protect its citizens”.

Palestinians are suing the illegal Israeli settlers who list stolen property on AirBnB

Last year, AirBnB declared that it would withdraw listings on its site from Israeli settlers based in Jew-only colonies in the West Bank. All such colonial-settlements are illegal under international law.

The move came after years of campaigning by Palestine solidarity activists. The effect of their efforts was acknowledged by AirBnB when the property lettings company announced the initial withdrawal.

However, under pressure, AirBnB has now capitulated to demands from Israel and its supporters to reverse the move. Part of this pressure was a lawsuit by Israeli and Israeli-American settlers and supporters against the company in a US court.

France and the EU, Recognising Yet Supporting Apartheid Reality in Palestine

A recent statement made by the outgoing French Ambassador to the US regarding the nature of Israeli apartheid accentuates a larger ailment that has afflicted the European Union foreign policy.

The EU is simply gutless when it comes to confronting Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.

Ambassador Gerard Araud was, of course, right when he told the US magazine, the ‘Atlantic’, that Israel is already an apartheid state.

Noting the “disproportion of power” between Israel and the Palestinians, Araud said, “The strongest (meaning Israel) may conclude that they have no interest to make concessions.”

And since Israel “won’t make (Palestinians) citizens of Israel … they will have to make it official, which we know the situation, which is apartheid.” Araud added, “There will be officially an apartheid state. They are in fact already.”

FLASHBACK - How The Guardian told me to steer clear of Palestine

I very much enjoyed contributing to The Guardian. Having previously worked for quite a stuffy publication, it felt liberating to be able to express opinions.

There was one issue, however, on which I felt my freedom curtailed: Palestine. Although The Guardian did publish a few of my articles denouncing Israeli atrocities, I began to encounter obstacles in 2009.

Blame Palestinians for Gaza

Video: Palestinian killed while running away from soldiers

“You killed him! You killed him!”

So shouts a Palestinian man after Israeli soldiers gun down Muhammad Ali Dar Adwan, 23, in Kufr Aqab, a neighborhood of East Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank.

“Help him, you killed him!” the man shouts in Hebrew seconds later.

Soldiers carry away Dar Adwan’s body. He is declared dead.

The young man’s killing early on the morning of 2 April is shown in video footage compiled by the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem:

New York Times apologizes again for 'offensive' Trump, Netanyahu cartoon that 'included anti-Semitic tropes'

View image on Twitter

New York Times Opinion

We apologize for the anti-Semitic cartoon we published. Here’s our statement.

"We are deeply sorry for the publication of an anti-Semitic political cartoon last Thursday in the print edition of The New York Times that circulates outside of the United States, and we are committed to making sure nothing like this happens again," the opinion section tweeted Sunday.

"Such imagery is always dangerous, and at a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise worldwide, it's all the more unacceptable," continued the apology, which was widely shared on Twitter.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To the editorial staff of the NYT:

Dear all; yes, I understand why you apologised.

But having said that, is there any place at your table, where one can objectively talk about what is really happening between the US and Israel, under President Trump's watch, where sheer logic could never be construed as being "anti-Semitic?!?

Fact: Israel is the largest recipient of US foreign aid.

US Foreign Aid to Israel

the article goes on to state:

This report provides an overview of U.S. foreign assistance to Israel. It includes a review of past
aid programs, data on annual assistance, and analysis of current issues. For general information
on Israel, see CRS Report RL33476, Israel: Background and U.S. Relations, by Jim Zanotti.
Israel is the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign assistance since World War II. To date,
the United States has provided Israel $134.7 billion (current, or noninflation-adjusted, dollars) in
bilateral assistance and missile defense funding. Almost all U.S. bilateral aid to Israel is in the
form of military assistance, although in the past Israel also received significant economic
assistance.
At a signing ceremony at the State Department on September 14, 2016, representatives of the
U.S. and Israeli governments signed a new 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on
military aid covering FY2019 to FY2028. Under the terms of the MOU, the United States pledges
to provide $38 billion in military aid ($33 billion in Foreign Military Financing grants plus
$5 billion in missile defense appropriations) to Israel. This MOU replaces a previous $30 billion
10-year agreement, which runs through FY2018.
Israel is the first international operator of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the Department of
Defense’s fifth-generation stealth aircraft, considered to be the most technologically advanced
fighter jet ever made. To date, Israel has purchased 50 F-35s in three separate contracts.

With all that money spent, one would think that Israel would be doing everything possible to keep relationships with its neighboring countries stable, and at least, show a little bit of gratitude in that manner to the US government.

Fact: Israel has a real difficulty with "getting along" with most of its neighbors, particularly if they have oil (like Iran), or water(as does Lebanon), and its politicians are consistently screaming at the US to "do something" about their allegedly impossible neighbors, before they "go it alone." (which will only happen when pigs discover they are aerodynamic).

Fact: when Sheldon Adelson gave President Trump all those millions to get elected Adelson reportedly watch the election with Trump, President Trump understood what the quid pro quo was; to declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel (which he did), and second, create a "Middle East Deal" which offered no "right of return" for the Palestinians. The first demand, Netanyahu got; and our current understanding is that Jared Kushner, Trump's son in law, is working on that "deal" for mid-East Peace.

Fact: were I living in Iran right now, I would be very nervous, as President Trump has declared "no waivers" would continue past 2 May for countries which had been buying Iranian oil, in order to attempt to destroy Iran's economy. This includes China, and all the other countries which may not pay attention to Trump's demand. We now have two US carriers in the Mediterranean Sea, allegedly to insure Russia "gets the message" of "no interference" 2 US Navy aircraft carriers are making a statement in the Mediterranean Sea.Color me very nervous about what lengths the US is willing to go, to make that happen.

Fact: if I lived in Syria right now, I would be more than a little bit nervous, because the White House and Pentagon have decided to leave troops here, and there is no definitive pullout schedule which has been released. US keeping +/- 200 troops in Syria.Thinking people have to ask, "Why?!? IS there going to be an attempted "de-cap strike" against Damascus, understanding that Russia's Putin has given Al Assad all the military "muscle power" it needed to have substantially, and pretty successfully, beaten back the (US Trained & funded) jihadis?!?

Fact: were I a Gazan Palestinian right now, I would be very nervous about the lengths Israel is willing to go, to achieve a complete exodus of the Palestinian people (to where, I cannot tell you, because neighboring countries are overflowing with refugees, and cannot take any more), and claim Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, as solely Israeli.

As an American who cares about her country, I am very concerned about the dangerous territory to which the US/Israeli relationship is taking this country. Does it ever concern you, BTW, that the two Middle Eastern men by whom President Trump seems to be so thoroughly fascinated, are the two butchers in the Middle East, Prince bin Salman, the Butcher of Yemen, and Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Butcher of Gaza?!? And please don't tell me, that in this man's "heart of hearts", he hopes for a just and lasting peace between the Israelis and Palestinians; because with everything he has done, in his numerous terms as PM, he has done the polar opposite of attempting to create peace. He doesn't use the word "extermination" when talking about the Palestinians in Gaza, because he knows that the optics would be terrible; but some of his more rabid followers would have absolutely no problem with this.

I cannot foretell where these relationships is taking this country, but I can tell you this; something wicked this way comes.

And were I a betting woman, I would bet that Israel is pushing the US as hard as it thinks it can, to declare the devolution of the US's ongoing economic war in the region into a shooting war against all of its alleged existential enemies; we're talking about a war with Syria (which would, again, most likely include a war with Russia if not Russia and China); war against Iran (which will most likely, involve war with Russia and China)

To the Editors of the NYT, I have just expressed my fact-based opinion on what is going to happen here, and I am hoping that I am dead-wrong; but I have a very clear understanding of what Israel did to the USS Liberty, and then tried to "fake it" by wrongly accusing Egypt of the attack.

"False flag attacks" by both the Israeli and US military, are a common stock-in-trade they both use.

And if you have any members of your families serving the US militarily, please, as best you can, pray for them; because if what I see coming does come to pass, they -and their commanders, and the collective members of the US government - will need it. And I say this because, at this point in the the US's military history, they do not have the money, the troop strength, the manufacturing, or the weaponry to create a successful outcome to a war against either Russia and/or China.

Attorney General tells Netanyahu ‘no indictment delay’

Israel’s Attorney General has told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that there will be no delay over his corruption indictment, despite his legal team’s attempts to stall the process.

According to Avichai Mandelblit’s office, he wrote a letter to Netanyahu’s lawyers yesterday telling them that “if they wish to conduct a hearing over the investigative files pertaining to [Netanyahu’s] cases, they must coordinate — by May 10, 2019 — a date for the hearing.” The letter also criticised Netanyahu’s legal team for failing to collect the evidence against the Prime Minister, despite the fact that the file has been available since 10 April.

Arab League warns of erasure of Palestinian history in school curriculum

Palestinian history is being wiped out in school text books through the Judaisation of the Arab curriculum, the Arab League warned in a meeting this weekend.

During the Palestinian Children Educational Affairs Council meeting, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Arab Territories, Ambassador Said Abu-Ali, said education is the most important type of resistance so Israeli occupation authorities are working to undermine it.

Israel is working to impose its syllabus on Palestinian students in Jerusalem in order to erase the Palestinian identity, it also bans new schools from being set up in Arab areas and existing schools from being renovated.

The Arab League official said that this plan aims to liquidate the Palestinian cause and put pressure on the Palestinians to accept a peace plan which offers them far less than the two-state solution.

Israel lets settlers spend Passover at former outpost where Palestinian landowners remain excluded

Israeli occupation authorities allowed settlers to celebrate Passover at the site of the former Amona outpost in the northern West Bank, despite the fact that the location is a closed military zone.

According to Haaretz, the site “became a recreation spot for Jewish settlers during the Passover holiday”, even though the Palestinians who own the land on the hill “are still not allowed access”.

The outpost was evacuated in 2017 on orders of the Israeli Supreme Court, who ruled it had been established on privately-owned Palestinian land.

As reported by Haaretz, shortly before the removal of settlers from Amona, “the army issued the order barring access to the site by civilians”, an order “now strictly enforced to keep Palestinian landowners from the nearby villages of Ein Yabrud and Silwad from farming their land at the site”.

For NYT, Israel Is Always Nearing ‘Apartheid,’ but Never Quite Gets There

Following Benjamin Netanyahu’s re-election as Israeli prime minister earlier this month, the New York Times’ editorial board (4/11/19) wrote:

Under Mr. Netanyahu, Israel is on a trajectory to become what critics say will be an apartheid state like the former South Africa—a country in which Palestinians will eventually be a majority, but without the rights of citizens.

A harsh criticism? Actually, the paper has been saying that Israel/Palestine could “become” an apartheid state for the better part of two decades. It ran a piece in 2003 (1/29/03) arguing that

if Israel does not give up the territories, it will face a choice: relinquish either democracy or the ideal of a Jewish state. Granting Palestinians in the territories the right to vote would turn Israel into an Arab state with a Jewish minority. Not allowing them to vote would result in a form of permanent apartheid.

US Sees First Military Expenditure Increase Since 2010

Report: Global Military Expenditure at 3-Decade High, Biggest Spender US Sees First Increase Since 2010
The world has spent $1.8 trillion on its military in 2018, and the US is leading the charge, while some of its NATO allies are also buffing their war budgets citing the Russian threat despite Moscow decreasing its military spending.

***
The tensions between countries in Asia as well as between China and the USA are major drivers for the continuing growth of military spending in the region,” Pieter Wezeman, a senior researcher at the SIPRI Arms and Military Expenditure (AMEX) program, stated.

While Washington has been an undisputed leader of the chart for years, last year it upped its game even more, increasing its military spending for the first time since 2010. The surge in US defense spending is a direct reflection of the Trump administration's policy, according to SIPRI.

"The increase in US spending was driven by the implementation from 2017 of new arms procurement programs under the Trump administration">>>

Putin's Envoy: Iranian Forces in Syria Remain 50 Miles Away From Israeli Border

***
Iranian forces in Syria remain around 80 kilometers (50 miles) away from the border with Israel despite Washington’s statement that it recognizes Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, Russian Special Presidential Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev told Sputnik in an interview.

“We have reached agreement with our Iranian friends that certain units that have been there [at the Syrian border with Israel] in order to ensure security of the southern de-escalation zone will be transferred to a safe distance, from 75 to 80 kilometers. They fulfill their promises,” Lavrentyev said, when asked if Trump’s statement had triggered the approaching of Iranian forces to the border.

In July 2018, Iran agreed, due to the Russian mediation, to move its units present in Syria away from the border with Israel by 85 kilometers, which significantly reduced Israeli concerns, according to the presidential envoy. Can Trump block witnesses, access to documents?

Trump has refused to cooperate in numerous congressional probes, setting the state for several long court fights.

President Donald Trump is refusing to cooperate with several committees in the House of Representatives that have launched investigations of his presidency and business dealings, setting the stage for a legal confrontation that is likely to land in the US Supreme Court.

"We just went through the Mueller witch-hunt," Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday. "And they came up with no collusion and they also came with no obstruction."

"We are fighting all the subpoenas. These are not like impartial people. Look, the Democrats are trying to win 2020," Trump told reporters after saying in a tweet earlier in the day he would take the issue "to the US Supreme Court."

But constitutional scholars and Washington, DC, lawyers say Trump's legal ability to fend off demands from the House, where opposition Democrats control key committees, is weak. The president can only delay Congress's access by litigating in federal court, although that is a process that could take months.

Trump heeds NRA, says he's pulling US out of Arms Trade Treaty

Trump tells gun lobby he intends to revoke status of US as a signatory of the treaty, which wasn't ratified by Senate.

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday at the National Rifle Association's (NRA) annual meeting that the United States will drop out of an international arms treaty signed in 2013 by then-President Barack Obama but opposed by the NRA and other conservative groups.

Trump told members of the gun lobby that he intends to revoke the status of the US as a signatory of the Arms Trade Treaty, which was never ratified by the US Senate.

The NRA has long opposed the treaty which regulates the $70bn business in conventional arms and seeks to keep weapons out of the hands of human rights abusers. The lobbying group argues it would undermine domestic gun rights, a view the Obama administration rejected.

Trump added that the United Nations will soon receive formal notice of the withdrawal.

The True Cost Of The Trump-Netanyahu Alliance

***
There may be major concessions demanded of the Israelis if the long-awaiting Trump peace plan actually is revealed in June, the latest of many deadlines. But that seems doubtful. Instead it would appear that, as Jewish Trump supporters frequently boast, there’s never been an American president so tightly tied to an Israeli prime minister, and vice versa. Netanyahu rode that bromance to electoral victory earlier this month, and Republicans are exploiting it to achieve the “Jexodus” of their political dreams.

Not so fast. I predict this is a short-term phenomenon, a sugar high before a sharp decline, which will put an even more serious strain on the strategic alliance between the U.S. and Israel. In his sycophantic adulation of Trump, Netanyahu scores a few real triumphs. But he is reaping a pyrrhic victory.
***
In my opinion, it’s no coincidence that Netanyahu’s approval rating in the U.S. mirrors Trump’s, which dropped to 39% after last week’s release of the redacted Mueller report.

The Pew poll also found that the public makes a distinction between the Palestinian people —
viewed positively by 46% — and its government, such as it is, with an approval rating of a dismal 19%.)

By Promoting Passover, Trump Promotes Destruction on the US

On April 19th, this past Friday, Donald Trump tweeted a Passover greeting to Jews celebrating Passover “in America, Israel and around the world.” Is this compatible with Trump’s alleged goal of making America great again?

Trump is largely ignorant of many of the teachings in the religion he claims for himself, Christianity, as well as of the teachings in the religion Christianity sprang out of, Judaism.

In Judaism, Jewish superiority is a consistent theme, along with the elevation of the
Jewish state of Israel “on high above all nations of the earth” (Deuteronomy 28:1). This desire in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament to have Israel superior over all of the Gentile nations on Earth is also a part of a Passover prayer that is said in synagogues and Jewish homes around the world. Trump should be aware of this anti-American prayer before he sends out his Passover greetings.

The Passover prayer is the Sh’foch Hamatcha.>>>

So Who Burned Down Notre Dame?

Firstly there was the sheer nastiness of the operation. You can forget French fairy stories about faulty wiring. There about as reliable as that claim about DC-10 engine cowling bits causing the Paris Concorde crash. I gather that privately the French are saying that it was arson and they’re right. The faulty wiring nonsense is strictly for the public and the credulous French media, who will swallow just about any old nonsense, as long as it’s marked ‘official’. They’re worse than the BBC over global warming.

The plan was clearly to burn Notre Dame to the ground, based no doubt on the theory that its structure was interlocking. It was, but the towers and side walls appear to have possessed more strength than anyone thought possible. The men who designed Notre Dame knew that they were doing.

Then you have the fact that Holy Mass was underway when the fire started. The Germans love nothing more than burning people to death inside churches>>>

Israel Responsible For Sickening Bombing Massacres In Sri Lanka

ISIS claiming responsibility means that it was the US-Israeli-Saudi axis of evil that was behind the sickening Easter Sunday bombing massacre in Sri Lanka.

Why would they chose to attack Sri Lanka, a small and relatively insignificant island nation? The immediate thought I had is ‘what has Sri Lanka done to annoy Israel?

The answer was not hard to find, just look at the Wikipedia page entitled “Palestine–Sri Lanka relations”

“Relations between Palestine and Sri Lanka started in 1975 when the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) opened up an embassy in Colombo. After the Palestinian Declaration of Independence on 15 November 1988,the Republic of Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives were among few of the first countries in the world to recognize the State of Palestine>>>

Lebanon Threatens to Strike Israeli Airport if Military Conflict Erupts - Report

The Lebanese defence minister ruled out the possibility of military conflict with Tel Aviv in the near future, however.

Lebanon's Defence Minister Elias Bou Saab has warned that the Lebanese Air Force will strike Israel's Ben Gurion airport in the event of a military conflict between the two states, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing Hezbollah's al-Manar news site.

Speaking during his tour to the southern part of the country, the minister promised Beirut will react symmetrically to Tel Aviv's military actions.

"If Israel bombards our airport, we will bombard its airport; if it strikes our oil facilities, we will strike its oil facilities," he was quoted as saying by al-Manar.

Trump May Recognise West Bank as Israeli Land After Jerusalem & Golan – Analyst

The Israeli elections on 9 April resulted in the victory of Benjamin Netanyahu, who was officially appointed as the country's prime minister on 17 April. Speaking to Sputnik, Israeli publicist Avigdor Eskin shared his opinion on what to expect from the Netanyahu cabinet in the near future.

Avigdor Eskin, an Israeli political analyst and publicist who predicted Netanyahu's victory back in November 2018, believes that Washington and Tel Aviv will continue to strengthen Israel's positions in the region following the de facto recognition of Jerusalem on 14 May 2018 and Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights on 25 March 2019.

"I anticipate Israeli official recognition of towns and villages on the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) as a part of the state and I also anticipate US recognition. We will also see the attempts to negotiate with Gaza. Egypt will play an important role", the Israeli publicist foresees.

Israel accuses Switzerland of funding legal procedures against it

An Israeli newspaper close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday accused Switzerland of spending $2 million on legal activities which it says harm Israel.

Israel Hayom claimed that the Swiss foreign ministry sent an estimated $2 million to Israeli and Palestinian NGOs through its diplomatic mission in Ramallah to pay for legal activities which harm Israel.

According to the Israeli newspaper, the funds were paid to the Israel and Palestinian organisations shortly after the Swiss government ended its support for a Palestinian NGO over its support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, noting that the funds went for similar projects.
