‘ENEMY CAN’T ASK US TO LEAVE, THEY MUST LEAVE’: IRAN CALLS FOR US TO WITHDRAW FROM THE REGION

Tehran has brushed off US calls to pull its forces out of Middle East countries, saying that it is the ‘enemy’ Washington who should go back home. It comes as Iran marks 40 years since the Islamic Revolution.
As the US’ own forces start to withdraw from Syria, Washington is increasingly worried that Tehran is getting too entrenched in the war-torn country. The US has repeatedly lambasted Iran for its presence in Syria, where Tehran maintains ‘military advisers.’

On Monday, the deputy head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards fired back at Washington: “The enemy cannot ask us to leave the region. They must leave the region.”

“We will help any Muslim anywhere in the world,” Brigadier General Hossein Salami added.

It’s not the first time that Iran has rejected US demands to curb its ‘influence.’ Last week, a senior aide to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Ali Akbar Velayati, warned: “Whether they want to or not, the Americans must leave Syria.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word please; last time I checked Russia and Iran had been invited by the government of Syria to assist it in getting rid of the western funded, trained, and supported jihadists: the US government was not invited to this particular party, in case the memo never reached you.

In fact, this US occupation of Syria falls under the heading of " a major crime against sovereign state."

And sir, this stated objective that the US has to stay in Syria to watch Iran?!? I don't know if any one has mentioned this to you, but even though you have pulled the US out of the P5+1, Iran, as declared through the IAEA's certifications, Iran is still keeping its part of the deal.

Has Iran started a war in the last two hundred years?!? The short answer is no, Mr. President; they have not. So why in the world is the US "watching them" from Syria?!?

Surely, there has to be another reason. Perhaps creating a false flag in Syria, blame it on the Iranians, and off we would be going, into an Israel-favored war?!? I would like to hope - and pray - that this is not the design objective of the US staying in Syria.

And Mr. President, there is another issue which the American people would like to have explained; why is it, sir, that Iran has signed the NNPT, but Israel has not, meaning, of course, that they are not entitled to any money or weaponry, according to the Mann Act and the Symington Amendment?!?

Isn't the US violating its own law, every time Israel gets more money, or weaponry from the US?!? Can you explain this to us, please?!?

And your excuse for staying in Syria being that we must "protect Israel" with our Syrian occupation?!? President Trump, can you enlighten us on the latest and greatest package passed by Congress for Israeli aid?!?

U.S., Israel Sign Historic 10-year, $38-billion Military Aid Deal

Sir, forgive me, but at this massive cost to the US government (while homeless Vets still sleep rough in our streets, and our infrastructure is crumbling around us), one might imagine that possibly, just possibly, with all that illegal cash, that Israel is receiving from the US, Israel would be fully capable of protecting itself.

So the answers you have provided ring utterly hollow, as the "reasons why" the US military is still in Syria. What you and Israel may have in mind for Syria and Iran, I shudder to contemplate.

Latest ‘NY Times’ pro-Israel article is a bizarre effort to connect Al-Qaeda, Palestinian rights and Africa

Israel’s propaganda apparatus, Hasbara Central, must be delighted with a bizarre, convoluted article in today’s New York Times that used tortuous logic to:

* Dishonestly try to connect 2 recent terrorist attacks in Africa to Al-Qaeda, the organization once headed by Osama bin Laden

* In passing, try to tarnish genuine Palestinian grievances by saying that Al-Qaeda agrees with those grievances

* Somehow use the fake Al-Qaeda connection to endorse Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s efforts to improve Israel’s diplomatic standing in Africa

Israeli Forces Attempt to Cut Water Supply to Masafer Yatta

Israeli forces raided water pump rooms in the village of at-Tiwani, east of Masafer Yatta, south of the southern West Bank district of Hebron, said a local official.

Head of at-Tiwani village council, Mohammed Rabe’, told WAFA that Israeli forces, accompanied by staff from the Israeli civil administration, raided the water pump rooms in the village, and conducted search operations for the pipelines supplying the eastern part of Masafer Yatta with water, in an apparent prelude to cut off water supply to residents.

Settlers Attack School Near Nablus

The administration of Orif Secondary School, in Orif town, southwest of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, had to shut the school down, and sent the students to their homes when illegal Israeli colonialist settlers attacked it, and Israeli soldiers fire live rounds into the education facility.

Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official who monitors Israel’s colonialist activities in northern West Bank, said a group of colonists attacked the school, in addition to attempting to assault schoolchildren trying to enter the facility.

Daghlas added that Israeli soldiers, who arrived at the scene, fired many live rounds into the school campus, apparently to stop the schoolchildren from protesting the invasion.

Fearing for the lives of the students, and further escalation, the school had to shut down for the day, and sent the students to their homes.

Ex-Saudi intelligence chief reveals secret Israel-Saudi relations

The ex-Saudi Intelligence Chief Turki Al-Faisal this weekend revealed that secret relations between Israel and a number of Gulf states date back as far as 25 years.

According to Qatari newspaper Al-Arab, Al-Faisal was interviewed by Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, who claims to have conducted interviews with 20 prominent Gulf officials with knowledge of secret relations with Israel. However, many of these people refused to speak to the camera, Israel’s Channel 13 reported.

War on nature: How Zionist colonialism has destroyed the environment in Palestine

The latest casualties in the war on the environment in Palestine were 450 olive trees destroyed last week by Israeli army bulldozers. The destruction of the Palestinian-owned trees took place in the villages of Bardala, in the Jordan Valley, and Yatta in the southern West Bank. Dozens more were also destroyed by illegal Jewish settlers.

It is a myth that only Zionist Israel “made the desert bloom.” On the contrary, since its establishment on the ruins of more than five hundred Palestinian villages and cities that it has destroyed and wiped off the map, Israel has done the exact opposite. The land inhabited by Palestinian Muslims, Christians and Jews for thousands of years has been disfigured beyond belief by Israel in the matter of a few decades.

Fatah slams Israeli settler calls for Abbas’ death

Palestinian group Fatah on Sunday decried calls by Israeli settlers for the assassination of President Mahmoud Abbas.

“The Israeli incitement is the result of the policy of hatred practiced by the Israeli government against the Palestinians,” Fatah spokesman Osama al-Qawasmi said in a statement.

He accused Israel of fomenting terrorism by “pursuing its occupation, building an Apartheid barrier, preventing the freedom of movement, [carrying out] field executions and home demolitions and killing and arresting children”.

“It is not President Abbas, who is defending the rights of our people in accordance with international legitimacy,” the spokesman said.

Tehran 'Will Raze Tel Aviv, Haifa' if US Attacks - Iranian Islamic Guard Comdr.

On Monday, hundreds of thousands of Iranians held nation-wide rallies to mark the 40th anniversary of the fall of the Shah and the triumph of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the Shiite cleric who led an Islamic Revolution that rattles the West to this day.

Tehran "will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa" to the ground if Washington attacks Iran, the IRNA news agency cited an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander as saying on Monday.

"The United States does not have the courage to shoot a single bullet at us despite all its defensive and military assets. But if they attack us, we will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground," Yadollah Javani, the Guards' deputy head for political affairs said during a rally celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

Haley, Chelsea Clinton Fume at Rep. Ilhan Omar's Remarks on Israeli Lobby in US

One of the first two Muslim congresswomen in US history, Ilhan Omar, has faced accusations of anti-Semitism in the past. However, she has insisted that her criticism of the Israeli government and Israel's influence on US politics don't make her an anti-Semite.

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar has triggered torrents of outrage among politicians from both sides of the aisle after hinting that pro-Israel lobbyists sway US politicians to support the Jewish state.

On Sunday, journalist Glenn Greenwald retweeted a Haaretz article reporting that House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy had threatened to take "action" against Omar and another Muslim congresswoman, Rashida Tlaib, over their criticisms of Israel and perceived anti-Semitism.

US Blockade on Venezuela Has Cost US$350 Billion

According to the study, these economic and financial attacks "are usually the prelude to military intervention."

The Economic Debates Unit of the Latin American Geopolitical Strategic Center (CELAG) released a report on "the economic consequences of the boycott against Venezuela," on Friday, in which it is proved that the "international financial blockade to Venezuela since 2013 is the main responsible for the economic crisis."

According to CELAG's report, the financial and economic blockade that was mainly promoted by the United States, and enforced by its allies, would have cost Venezuela around US$350 billion "in the production of goods and services between 2013 and 2017."

Blocking a country financially is paramount when trying to asphyxiate the national economy. The external attacks are able to undermine the economic and productive capacity of the country, and therefore, destroy the economy. According to the study, these economic and financial attacks "are usually the prelude to military intervention."

A SCREAM FOR THE PALESTINIAN DREAM

I dream someday that our living nightmare will end. Images like a sister
crying over the body of her 14 year old brother Hasan Shalabi who was shot
in the heart simply for wanting to have a life. The video of the same kid
so full of life saying he dreams of getting a job to help his family of
nine in Gaza haunt me. He is just a kid and I cannot imagine the pain of
his family. I imagine someday I will not hear about destruction of the
Amazon rain forest or bleeching of coral reefs or another “trophy hunt” or
of a girl murdered (like Palestinian Swar murdered by cruel men for “honor”
or the 5 year old raped and murderedin India). I dream of India going back
to its anti-colonial days instead of buying billions in weapons it does not
need from Israel (a colonial state). I dream of days like when my
grandfather’s friend in school was a Jewish student (i.e. I dream of the
end of apartheid and all of us living together in one country in friendship
as before).

Pussy John Bolton and His Codpiece Mustache: Examining the Freak Show

American government has become a collection of sordid and dangerous clowns. It was not always thus. Until Bush II, those governing were never lunatics. Eisenhower, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Obama, Clinton had their defects, were sometimes corrupt, and could be disagreed with on many grounds. They weren’t crazy. Today’s administration would seem unwholesome in a New York bus station at three in the morning. They are not normal American politicians.

In particular they seem to be pushing for war with Iran, China, Russia, and Venezuela. And–this is important–their behavior is not a matter of liberals catfighting with conservatives. All former presidents carefully avoided war with the Soviet Union, which carefully avoided war with America.

Trump's mixed messages on the Middle East

President Trump's State of the Union address revealed no clear foreign policy vision or coherent Middle East strategy

Although President Donald Trump did not spend a lot of time on the Middle East issues in his largely self-congratulatory State of the Union address before Congress on February 6, what he did say on these matters was a mix of positions reflecting isolationist strands of his "America first" approach on the one hand, and some neo-conservative positions on the other.

What kind of occupation do Israelis want?

The first clip – the one we watched – was the election campaign spot produced by Benny Gantz, leader of the newly formed Hosen LeYisrael party (Israel Resilience Party), with its much-mocked slogan: “No more right-wing or left-wing; it is just Israel first.”

The second clip – the one we didn’t watch – was recorded on the phone of a soldier in the Netzah Yehuda Battalion of the Kfir Brigade. In it, Israeli soldiers filmed themselves abusing two Palestinian detainees, a father and son. The son was forced to watch as the soldiers broke his father’s ribs.

Well, that’s certainly one clip we’d rather not watch: images of soldiers mocking and beating a father and son. Who would want to see something so horrific? Or to hear it, for that matter: did the soldier’s smartphone also record the son’s voice crying out his father’s name? Did it capture the sound of the father’s ribs breaking, one by one?

Israel's move depletes Lebanon's offshore oil reserves, Berri warns

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has warned that Israel may deplete his country’s potential offshore oil and gas reserves after the Tel Aviv regime awarded energy exploration licenses near a disputed maritime boundary in Mediterranean waters.

Speaking after a meeting with visiting Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in Beirut on Thursday, Berri said Israel has “licensed two companies to start drilling by April 2020 at most,” warning that the move threatened “to drain a whole basin" and a large part of Lebanon's oil wealth before the country even starts to drill.

The senior Lebanese legislator went on to say that he had raised the issue with the Italian prime minister earlier in the day, and the latter “had shown readiness to back Lebanon up on all fronts.”

The speaker said it was important to warn Italian energy company Eni of the Israeli “violations” against Block 9.

Jimmy Carter believed he lost a second term because he opposed settlements, alienating Jews

When George H.W. Bush died last year, we revisited the idea that he was a one-term president in part because he vigorously took on the Israel lobby over settlements in 1991, and paid a price. Even Tom Friedman said that was the political lesson of the Bush presidency for Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, neither of whom did much to oppose settlements.

And everyone knows that settlements bedeviled the Obama presidency. “It is time for these settlements to stop,” Obama declared in Cairo, till he faced reelection, and reversed course two years later under pressure from Netanyahu and Jewish organizations, and vetoed a settlements resolution at the U.N. And then he reversed course again– and in one of the last acts of his presidency, Obama allowed an anti-settlements resolution to go through in December 2016 (a move that Donald Trump sought to undermine by reaching out to the Russians).

US: Israel had ‘every right’ to expel Hebron observers

The US has said that Israel had “every right” to expel a UN monitoring force from the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

US State Department spokesman Robert Palladino yesterday said that it was Israel’s right not to renew the mandate of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH), a UN body which monitors the situation in Hebron in the occupied West Bank. TIPH’s mandate must be renewed every six months by Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) under the 1997 Interim Agreement, which was signed in the wake of the Oslo Accords.

Palladino told a US press briefing that:

Regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with the Israeli decision not to renew [TIPH’s mandate], it would be inaccurate to accuse Israel of not having the right to make this decision under the 1997 agreement. This is a sovereign decision and it’s the right of either party to make that agreement.

Israel says cop who shot Palestinians through their window acted ‘reasonably’

Israeli authorities have defended the actions of a police officer who opened fire on a Palestinian couple as they stood in their own home behind a closed window, reported Haaretz.

The incident occurred on 1 November, 2015, when “municipal inspectors backed by a large group of policemen” entered Issawiya in occupied East Jerusalem “to collect debts”.

The couple, Nadia and Mazen Abu Humus, “were watching from a first-floor window, which Nadia asked Mazen to close”, reported Haaretz.

“Sometime after he did so,” the paper continued, “a black, sponge-tipped bullet shattered the window and hit him in the face. Fragments of glass hit Nadia in the face and inflicted deep cuts in her eye, which needed stitches.”

After the couple sued the state for $28,000 in damages, the state told the court this week that the police officer’s conduct was “proportionate and reasonable”.

‘No Art for ApARTheid’s Sake’: New York human rights advocates protest Israel Philharmonic Orchestra

On Sunday afternoon, seventy New York human rights advocates gathered in a noisy, musical protest in front of Carnegie Hall to demonstrate against an extravagant fundraising brunch and performance by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO).

The IPO, a self-proclaimed “cultural ambassador” representing the state of Israel, orchestrates a positive image of Israel to divert attention from its human rights abuses, as part of the “Brand Israel” initiative launched in 2006. An Israeli Foreign Ministry official explained Israeli government efforts to rebrand Israel through the arts in 2009, saying, “We will send well-known novelists and writers overseas, theater companies, exhibits” to “show Israel’s prettier face, so we are not thought of purely in the context of war.” The IPO website proudly states that the Orchestra “represent[s] the State of Israel across the world.”

Israel's top court enables and validates the disposition of Palestinians and the demolition of their homes in the occupied West Bank, a new report has found.

Trump To Move US Troops from Syria to Iraq to “Watch” Iran, “Protect Israel”

In a pre-Super Bowl interview on Sunday, President Donald Trump discussed his plan for a troop withdrawal from Syria, which, as it turns out, doesn’t involve many troops vacating the Middle East. Instead, Trump said the troops would mostly be “going to our base in Iraq.”

CBS’s Margaret Brennan held a wide-ranging interview with Trump, in the course of which she asked him about the intelligence community’s “concern” that a “vacuum” left by the U.S. pullout could cause a “resurgence of ISIS.”

“We can come back very quickly, and I’m not leaving. We have a base in Iraq,” Trump said, referring to the Al Asad Air Base in the Anbar province. The 2,000 troops in Syria will “be going to our base in Iraq, and ultimately some will be coming home. But we’re going to be there and we’re going to be staying,” Trump added.

Lebanon's Berri says Israel oil exploration in disputed waters 'dangerous'

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri says the Israeli regime is violating Lebanon's sovereignty in a “dangerous” manner by licensing a company to "exploit an area" for oil and gas resources near a disputed region.

The maritime dispute between the two sides runs over a sea zone of about 800 square kilometers. The underlying Levant basin of the Eastern Mediterranean has been proven to contain large natural gas reserves, probably even crude oil.

"(It is) a dangerous matter. Israel has licensed and exploited an area adjacent to the Lebanese southern maritime borders," Berri was quoted by lawmakers from Amal party as saying on Wednesday after a meeting.

"This is an infringement on Lebanese sovereignty and targets our oil wealth and waters."

THE US SYRIA WITHDRAWAL AND THE MYTH OF THE ISLAMIC STATE'S "RETURN"

At face value - the notion that the US occupation of Syria is key to preventing the return of the so-called "Islamic State" (ISIS) to Syrian territory is unconvincing.

Regions west of the Euphrates River where ISIS had previously thrived have since been permanently taken back by the Syrian Arab Army and its Russian and Iranian allies - quite obviously without any support from the United States - and in fact - despite Washington's best efforts to hamper Damascus' security operations.

Damascus and its Russian and Iranian allies have demonstrated that ISIS can be permanently defeated. With ISIS supply lines running out of NATO-territory in Turkey and from across the Jordanian and Iraqi border cut off - Syrian forces have managed to sustainably suppress the terrorist organization's efforts to reestablish itself west of the Euphrates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is no real justification for the US military to be in Syria, no matter how much the talking heads at the DOD and Whitehouse embrace that view; it is simply another "jumping off point" for more US military mischief and destabilization, in the Middle East.

Israel paper: US interfering in polls to help Netanyahu?

An Israeli paper speculates that the administration of US President Donald Trump could be meddling in Israel’s elections to help secure a win for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a report on Tuesday, The Jerusalem Post raised the suspicion after Trump shared a photo directly from Netanyahu’s Instagram account, which showed an election poster made by Netanyahu’s ruling Likud party of the two shaking hands and smiling.

The advertisement captioned “Netanyahu: In a different league” prompted similar criticism after first showing up in Tel Aviv.

It has now turned up elsewhere across streets in the Israeli-occupied territories, said Arutz Sheva on its website.

The Jerusalem Post further pointed to the large numbers of likes and comments under Trump’s share, saying this raised “concerns about election interference.”

US FEDERAL JUDGE DISMISSES LAWSUIT AGAINST BDS SUPPORTERS

Pro-Israeli groups have suffered a major defeat in a US court after a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against the American Studies Association’s (ASA) resolution to endorse the call to boycott Israeli academic institutions as part of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

On Monday a district court in Washington threw out the lawsuit against ASA, which is the oldest scholarly organisation devoted to the interdisciplinary study of US culture and history. The federal judge ruled that the anti-BDS plaintiffs were unable to explain how they were injured by the boycott, a requirement for the lawsuit to go forward.

Iran pushes back after Trump’s charges of anti-Semitism

Iran's foreign minister is pushing back after President Donald Trump said the country does "bad, bad things," and appeared to link it to the deadly attack on a Pittsburgh synagogue last year by an American anti-Semite. Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted Wednesday that "Iranians - including our Jewish compatriots - are commemorating 40 yrs of progress despite US pressure, just as @realDonaldTrump again makes accusations against us." In his State of the Union address, Trump said Iran "chants death to America and threatens genocide against the Jewish people. We must never ignore the vile poison of anti-Semitism or those who spread its venomous creed."

Spanish priest says ‘powerful Jews’ canceled his anti-Israel film event

A Spanish priest whose church canceled a planned projection of an anti-Israel film blamed the cancellation on threats and how "dying Negroes are less important than the powerful Jews." Pastor Javier Baeza's comments about blacks in a newspaper interview on Friday were decried by the pro-Israel ACOM group as part of a "fundamentally anti-Semitic narrative," ... On Saturday, the controversial film, "Gaza, a look into the eyes of barbarism," which critics say is one-sided and inaccurate, won the "Best Documentary" category of the Goyas, the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars ... But "there were pressures from the Jewish community" to cancel the projection Friday of the film, he told El Pais, before proposing his conclusion about powerful Jews.

IN DEFENSE OF OUR MORAL DUTY

Time and again, when Holocaust survivors, such as the Israeli historian Saul Friedlander on the occasion of the anniversary for the victims of National Socialism, believe that “defending Israel’s right to exist … is a fundamental moral obligation” makes me stunned, and so on I am appalled by the one-sidedness of the historian and contemporary witnesses. (1) I find it simply absurd for Holocaust survivors, of all people, to defend a state that has lost all moral integrity through its decade-long occupation of Palestine and the constant onslaught of land. In fact Friedlander was lucky enough to find his home in 1948 in the “Jewish State”. Like many others, he has obviously never wondered what this “happiness” was! For he too, like many others, has repressed the fact that this “happiness” was created on the misfortune of the more than 750,000 Palestinians expelled from their ancestral home, homeless to this day.

White House Sees No Need to Balance Pro-Israel Bias on Peace Plan

While the details of President Trump’s “deal of the century” peace plan for Israel and the Palestinians are still secret, officials offered some spoiler alerts, saying that the White House feels no need to try to offer a balanced plan, or do anything to show themselves to be honest brokers.

Instead, they say the administration wants to underscore that it is “proudly supportive of Israel,” and feels no need to balance the peace proposal with anything that the Palestinians might want, because they don’t see an “equivalency” between the two.

‘Combating BDS Act’ passes Senate, 77-23, as Dem presidential hopefuls vote No

This afternoon the Senate by a vote of 77-23 passed S.1, which contains the Combating BDS Act, encouraging states to pass laws that authorize economic punishments against those who support boycott of Israel. Faiz Shakir, national political director of the ACLU, says:

The ACLU led opposition to the bill and is already moving on to the House. It reports:

Should the House take up similar legislation, we urge members to remove the Combating BDS Act from the package of bills due to the threat it poses to all Americans’ First Amendment right to boycott…

We’re all Jewish Supremacists Now: Israeli politics, a guide for the perplexed

What happened? Several things, but the trigger for the disappearance of the Zionist left parties is the arrival of Gen. Benny Gantz, the butcher of Gaza, at the head of a new party, Gantz, who published videos extolling the carnage he inflicted on Gaza in the 2014 massacre known as Protective Edge, is running under two slogans: “Israel before everything” and “neither left nor right.” He shot to over 20 seats in the polls, and is considered to be a better candidate for prime minister than Netanyahu (by a slim margin: 43-42).

Palestinian Professors’ Unions Urge Pitzer College to Uphold Faculty Vote to Suspend Study Abroad with Complicit Israeli Institutions

The Palestinian Federation of Unions of University Professors and Employees (PFUUPE) supports the faculty at Pitzer College calling to suspend a complicit study abroad program in Israel over its discriminatory practices.

PFUUPE, which represents more than 6,000 Palestinian university staff at 13 higher education institutions in the occupied Palestinian territory, commends our colleagues at Pitzer College for overwhelmingly supporting this principled stand for Palestinian human rights and for equality.

Most importantly, we thank you for listening to us and acting upon the call from the vast majority of Palestinians, including academics and students, to refrain from business-as-usual academic relations with Israeli institutions while we are forced to live under oppression.

We hold dear the universal right to academic freedom, on principle and because Palestinians are obliged to fight for it every day, along with our right to education.

Israel steps up attacks on Palestinian schools

When Israeli occupation forces shot three secondary school students, critically injuring two of them, last week, it was hardly an isolated incident.

The students were injured after soldiers raided Tuqu village near the West Bank city of Bethlehem, surrounding a high school. The military fired tear gas and live ammunition after being confronted by youths.

The frequency of such violence in or near Palestinian schools in the West Bank has increased during the current academic year.

“Incidents of interference in schools by Israeli forces” include “threats of demolition, clashes on the way to school between students and security forces, teachers stopped at checkpoints, and the violent actions of Israeli forces and settlers on some occasions,” according to a statement by United Nations officials.

The bulk of the 111 “interferences to education” in the West Bank documented by the UN in 2018 took place in the last four months of the year.

US court throws out lawsuit against academic boycott of Israel

A federal judge in Washington, DC, on Monday dismissed a lawsuit against the American Studies Association over its decision to support the boycott of Israeli academic institutions.

The ruling is a significant blow to efforts by Israel lobby groups to use courts to harass, intimidate and silence supporters of Palestinian rights in US universities – a tactic known as lawfare.

In April 2016, several current and former members of the ASA filed the lawsuit against the group over its 2013 resolution backing the academic boycott.

In his 20-page ruling, US District Judge Rudolph Contreras wrote that the plaintiffs had no standing to file a lawsuit seeking damages on behalf of the ASA, and that their individual damage claims came nowhere near the $75,000 minimum required for them to seek relief in federal court.

Pro-Israel group responds to ads with its own billboards

Pro-Israel groups are responding to what they call anti-Israel ads popping up around Los Angeles with billboards of their own.

Two billboard trucks featuring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s image cruised the streets of Hollywood and other parts of Los Angeles during the holiday weekend. The billboards include a quote from King, saying, "Israel must exist and has the right to exist, and is one of the great outposts of democracy in the world."

"In 1968, he made a very strong statement about Israel's right to exist, in security, as a Jewish state," said Gary Ratner, senior executive of StandWithUs.

NBC NEWS, TO CLAIM RUSSIA SUPPORTS TULSI GABBARD, RELIES ON FIRM JUST CAUGHT FABRICATING RUSSIA DATA FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

But the whole story was a sham: The only “expert” cited by NBC in support of its key claim was the firm New Knowledge, which just got caught by the New York Times fabricating Russian troll accounts on behalf of the Democratic Party in the Alabama Senate race to manufacture false accusations that the Kremlin was interfering in that election.

To justify its claim that Gabbard is the Kremlin’s candidate, NBC stated, “analysts at New Knowledge, the company the Senate Intelligence Committee used to track Russian activities in the 2016 election, told NBC News they’ve spotted ‘chatter’ related to Gabbard in anonymous online message boards, including those known for fomenting right-wing troll campaigns.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Tulsi Gabbard is a true American patriot, and one who has earned my respect.

She is a very bright, pro-peace, US Veteran, and a Samoan-American. Her views are only controversial because they run against past- and present- US wars of conquest.

Tulsi Gabbards on the Administration's push for war in Syria

She went on to say that the US government had been funding and training jihadis in the Middle East; she again was proven to be correct.

Tulsi Gabbard: President Trump Ended the Obama-era Program which funded Al Qaeda in Syria

She did go to Syria on a private trip, and did meet its President, Bashar Al-Assad. To the simple-minded, war-centric Jingoists, this was tantamount to treason; after all, wasn't this guy supposed to be the US's arch enemy in the region?!?

And they knew this because the US government kept assuring us that he was some vile dictator, who tortured and killed his own people, right?!?

But there is a question all thinking Americans need to be asking ourselves, and that is: what if that US government agenda has simply been fabricated, in order to achieve a certain geopolitical end, such as regime change in Damascus?!?

Does anyone remember how Saddam Hussein used to be "One of America's best friends" in the region, and how the US supplied weapons to Saddam for his war against Iran?!? And do you remember what turned the US government against him?!?
It was in 2000, when Iraq accepted Euros, rather than dollars, for its oil.

Business: Iraq nets handsome profit by dumping dollar for euro

And that, my friends, was the beginning of the end for the US's "Friend", Saddam Hussein; by accepting Euros for Iraq's oil, rather than dollars, the man signed his own death warrant.

We invaded Iraq in 2003, and Hussein was found "guilty" of monumental crimes against him, tried by a kangaroo court, and executed by hanging.

Bet let's get back to Tulsi, for a moment, please?!? I think this woman was very brave for what she did, which is to try to find out what was really going on in Syria; and for that, her own party denounced her, when - in my world - they should have been eager to hear what she had to say., and should have listened with respect.

This lady put her life on the line to get this information, and for that, she was castigated, called "Un-American", and was called "Russia's favorite candidate for 2020."

I would like everyone in this country, to listen with respect, and do not judge this lady by what is said about her by the Ziocon witch hunters, and the military-industrial complex, because both are pathologically war-centric. Here's her campaign video:

Tulsi Gabbard Enters 2020 election run

This is a person who, I believe, would honestly, and intelligently represent, and do her best to care for, the needs of our citizens. I would be very proud to have this lady representing this country as both President and Commander in Chief.

Please remember: this is a pro-peace Vet, who has served her country; and this is why the Israeli lobby and AIPAC are so bloody scared of her, that they felt compelled to start with a smear campaign against her, from nearly the moment she announced her run.

And Tulsi, unless you do anything which causes my opinion of you to change, I have your back.

I consider you a real American patriot, who wants to find the truth, no matter how distressing or disturbing that truth might be; it is a rare person, with the courage and tenacity to do so, and I believe you to be one of those people.

As Israel steps up ‘Judaization’ policy, IfNotNow takes a step toward anti-Zionism

Last Monday, Israeli authorities announced a plan to “forcibly transfer 36,000 Arab Bedouin citizens of Israel living in unrecognized villages in the country’s southern Naqab (Negev) region in order to expand military training areas and implement what it called ‘economic development’ projects,” according to Adalah (The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel).

Israel’s Jewish Home party appoints Bennett replacement

Israel’s Jewish Home party has appointed a new head to replace Education Minister Naftali Bennett, months after he broke away to form the New Right party.

Jewish Home’s Central Committee yesterday selected Rafi Peretz, a 63-year-old former chief rabbi of the Israeli army, as the party’s new chairman ahead of the General Election on 9 April. Peretz has been described by a member of his own party as “clearly nationalist ultra-Orthodox,” according to Haaretz, making him “much more conservative” than the already conservative Bennett.

Speaking after his appointment yesterday, Peretz slammed his predecessor and Israel’s Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked for abandoning Jewish Home, though he stopped short of mentioning them by name. “There are those who think that our house is old,” he explained. “Not shiny enough. Not adaptable enough. They walk through it, enter for a short period, enjoy it, use it and continue on their way.”

Israel Begins Construction of Massive Barrier along Gaza Border

Israel began construction on the over-ground portion of the Gaza border barrier that will connect to the under-construction sea barrier aimed at preventing the movement of the Hamas military wing out of the coastal enclave and into Israel.

The Israeli Defense Ministry confirmed, on Sunday, that the over-ground section of the barrier will be 65 kilometers (40 miles) long and will be six meters (20 feet) high.

The Israeli Defense Ministry’s border administration said, “The border is uniquely suited to the threats from the Gaza Strip and will give a comprehensive solution to preventing entry into Israel.”

The barrier is meant to prevent underground tunnels from Gaza, Ma’an News Agency reports. The barrier, estimated to cost 3 billion shekels ($833 million), will include a concrete wall fitted with sensors and reaching dozens of meters deep into the ground and standing six meters high from ground level.

TRUMP: ‘WE HAVE TO PROTECT ISRAEL,’ SHIFTING AGAIN ON SYRIA WITHDRAWAL

ASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump indicated this weekend that some US troops in Syria would remain there “to protect Israel,” in an apparent shift from his earlier insistence on an absolute withdrawal.

In an interview with Margaret Brennan of CBS News, Trump was pressed to identify precisely how much of America’s force presence there would be coming home – and how quickly.

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump indicated this weekend that some US troops in Syria would remain there “to protect Israel,” in an apparent shift from his earlier insistence on an absolute withdrawal.

In an interview with Margaret Brennan of CBS News, Trump was pressed to identify precisely how much of America’s force presence there would be coming home – and how quickly.

“We’re going to be there and we’re going to be staying. We have to protect Israel,” he replied. “We have to protect other things that we have. But we’re – yeah, they’ll be coming back in a matter of time.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The logical question which should have been asked by this alleged CBS reporter, and of course was not is, with all the money and equipment with which the US has gifted Israel, why in the name of heaven does Israel need protecting at all, more than what the US has already given, and committed to give to Israel?!?

Apparently,"amazingly intellectually lazy and woefully uninformed " is the new "standard" for reporting at CBS. Because had she actually bothered to do her homework, she would have understood the following:

US Defense Budget Prioritizes Securing Israel over Deterring IranThis article goes on to state the following:

"Securing Israel. The FY 2019 budget codifies the 10-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) that the Obama Administration signed with the Israeli government in September 2016. This MOU offered “the single largest pledge of military assistance in US history”—$38 billion over a decade. The language included in FY 2019 is unprecedented in its scope and content, lavishing US support on one single ally. The decision to help Israel with unmanned aerial systems came after Iran, Hezbollah, and IS flew drones in Syria during the past few years. This US support comes as the Israeli government seems increasingly concerned about the backlash of US-Iranian tensions and the potential for a growing number of heavy rockets and long-range missiles launched toward Israel. The FY 2019 budget urges the Trump Administration to begin talks with the Israeli government to determine “the quantity and type of precision guided munitions in the event of a sustained armed confrontation” with Hezbollah and Hamas."

Please let that number sink in : $38 billion dollars over ten years. means that Israel will be receiving $3,800,000,000 per year over 10 years.

So if, in fact, Israel is being provided getting nearly 4 billion dollars per year for the next decade, courtesy of the highly generous US taxpayers, (who, of course, had utterly no say in this matter), then why is this nuclear-armed, self-proclaimed theocracy, pathologically incapable of defending itself against Syria, or, in fact, Iran?!?

And forgive me, President Trump, but is it not totally illegal for the US government to give any aid or military assistance to Israel because it refuses to have its nuclear sites inspected, and to join the NNPT, as Iran has done, because such aid is in flagrant violation of both the Mann Act, and the Symington Amendment?!?

just doing a little "reality check" here, sir.

Sorry, Mr. President, with these statements regarding the the reasons for the US military staying in Syria, you just threw logic right smack on its head, and it is suffering from a severe concussion.

The US presence at al-Tanf in Eastern Syria, has utterly nothing to do with "defending Israel", but everything to do with having a military "beach head" for a potential invasion of Iran.

The maps tell the story:

Map of the Middle East

Al Tanf: why it matters

This is also the reason why US troops will not be leaving Iraq any time soon, either, even though the Iraqi government has asked it to leave, and so far, nicely.

And Mr. President, you would do well to remember the most powerful politically man in Iraq right now, but who holds no office: Muqtada Al Sadr.

If you do not remember his influence on the timing of the first US military withdrawal from Iraq, you might want to have one of your researchers take a look.

He was one of America's most successful entrepreneurs, but Henry Ford was also one of its most virulent anti-Semites, and an attempt by a suburban Detroit mayor to censor an article detailing Ford's hatred of Jews in a little-read local historical magazine is drawing national attention.

Most Americans are likely to think of Ford Motor Co. ISRAEL IS BECOMING A WEDGE ISSUE FOR DEMOCRATS

ELECTION WILL NOT STOP US FROM BOMBING GAZA AND IRAN, INSISTS NETANYAHU

Israel’s Prime Minister said on Sunday that the General Election campaign would not stop his government from bombing the Gaza Strip or Iran, Anadolu has reported. The election is due to be held in April.

“If calm is not maintained in Gaza, Israel will not hesitate to move against it even during the election period,” Benjamin Netanyahu told his weekly Cabinet meeting. “I [also] have a message to the tyrants in Tehran: Israel will continue moving overtly to protect its future.”

The Israeli occupation authorities continue to fear any Palestinian retaliation for the Israel Defence Forces’ ongoing aggression and killing of unarmed demonstrators taking part in the Great March of Return protests along the nominal border between the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let's translate that" Netanyahuese" from that 2nd paragraph, and the sentence " Israel will continue moving overtly to protect its future.”

Death Knell For Syria Pullout: “We Have To Protect Israel” Says Trump

After approaching two months of talk of a “full” and “immediate” US troop withdrawal from Syria, first ordered by President Trump on December 19 — which was predictably met with swift and fierce pushback from beltway hawks including in some cases his own advisers — it now appears the death knell has sounded on the prior “complete” and “rapid” drawdown order.

Israeli authorities impose “systematic legal discrimination” on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, an internal European Union (EU) report has acknowledged.

The confidential diplomats’ report, published last July, was seen by EUobserver.

The document, put together by EU ambassadors in Jerusalem and Ramallah, is intended to “serve as input for Brussels and [EU] capitals” in forming Middle East policy.

According to the report, the 2.7 million Palestinians who live in the West Bank “face systematic legal discrimination” under Israel’s “quasi-permanent occupation”.

Israel begins construction of new Gaza barrier

Israel has said the work to strengthen its fence along the Gaza Strip entered a new phase with construction starting on a massive new barrier along the frontier.

"Over the weekend we began building the above-ground barrier along the Gaza border," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told journalists on Sunday before a weekly cabinet meeting.

The barrier, set to stand six metres off the ground, will be constructed on the pretext of preventing the infiltration of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip into Israel, Netanyahu said.

The Israeli prime minister gave no further details but a defence ministry statement said the work on the structure began on Thursday.

UN chief urges protection as Israel suspends observer force

The U.N. says Secretary-General Antonio Guterres hopes an agreement can be reached to protect Palestinians in the West Bank after Israel said it would suspend the mandate of an international observation mission.

U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement Saturday that Guterres was "grateful" to the five countries that contributed to conflict prevention and the protection of Palestinians under the Temporary International Presence in Hebron for the past 22 years.

On Friday, the TIPH countries - Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Italy and Turkey - condemned in a joint statement the Israeli government's unilateral decision not to extend the observer force's mission in the flashpoint city.

Hundreds of hard-line Jewish settlers guarded by thousands of soldiers live in the heart of Hebron, which has a population of over 200,000 Palestinians.

Ilhan Omar Says U.S. Should Call Out Israel Like Iran, 'Chuckles' When Israel 'Upheld as a Democracy'

Freshman Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar compared Israel to Iran during an interview on Tuesday with Zainab Salbi on Yahoo News' "Through Her Eyes." Omar added that she "chuckles" when Israel is upheld as a democracy in the Middle East given last year's passage of the nation-state law defining Israel as a Jewish state.

Omar was roundly criticized for a 2012 tweet in which she said Israel has “hypnotized” the world. “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel,” the tweet read, which she has recently apologized for.

Omar, one of only two members of Congress to openly support the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, serves as a member of the House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Comittee.

PM must be indicted for bribery, conviction is guaranteed, AG’s team said to say

The senior state prosecutor who oversaw the police investigation into one of the three corruption cases facing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regards it as “a clear case of bribery” involving hundreds of millions of shekels, according to a transcript of discussions with her boss, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, quoted by Israeli television on Friday night.

Mandelblit, Israel’s top legal officer, is expected to publish his conclusions on the three cases within the next few weeks, having informed Netanyahu’s lawyers earlier Friday that he has rejected the prime minister’s demand that any decision to indict be postponed until after Israel’s April 9 elections.

Israel, UK and Brexit

The following is a translation of the last segment of an article in Ynet yesterday on Brexit. The article explains that: the Jewish State has located itself as post Brexit Britain’s gateway to the world: “Once out of the EU, Britain will have to sign separate trade agreements with each state, and Israel will be the first.” And that: “Israel has become Britain’s strategic ally.” And, of course, “the British government totally disregard the boycott campaign against Israel. On a political level, they boycotted the boycott.”

A few years ago we learned that back in 1982 Oded Yinon devised an Israeli ‘plan for the Middle East.’ The following Ynet’s segment provides us with a glimpse into the current ‘Israel’s plan for Britain.’

Over 60 Human Rights Groups Back Call to Boycott Eurovision in Israel

Over 60 international NGO’s have added their voices in protest against the plan to hold the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv this year. They are now part of what is quickly becoming an international campaign by civil society groups seeking to move the event, which is scheduled for May, from Israel.

Earlier this week 50 artists urged the BBC to boycott the Eurovision citing “Israel’s systematic violation of Palestinian human rights”. They said that the BBC was not exempt from human rights consideration and cannot ignore the plight of the Palestinians.

The BBC declined, saying that it was not appropriate for individuals to politicize the corporation’s participation in the event, arguing that Eurovision was not a political event. Israel’s critics dismissed the BBC’s justification insisting that the Zionist state regularly uses cultural events such as the Eurovision to make a political statement.

Madrid Church Cancels Gaza Film Event Due to 'Pressure From Jewish Community'

Israel has maintained a blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2007, after Hamas militants took over the enclave and replaced Palestinian Authority officials. The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement was later launched to pressure Israel to end the blockade.

The Roman Catholic parish of San Carlos Borromeo in Madrid has been ordered to cancel the screening of an award-winning documentary on the Gaza Strip due to pressure from the Jewish community.

The film, titled "Gaza, a look into the eyes of barbarism", received the prestigious national Goya award for Best Documentary Short Film. According to the awarding body's website, the film tells a story about "Israeli aggression" in the Gaza Strip and Tel Aviv's "violation of human rights".

Its screening was scheduled for last Friday, but the parish said that the Archdiocese of Madrid told them to cancel the event.

How Israel lobby fakes campus anti-Semitism

On Saturday, RT aired the second part of a conversation between host Chris Hedges, journalist Max Blumenthal and me about the censored Al Jazeera film The Lobby – USA.

In part two – which you can watch above – we focus on how the film shows Israel lobby groups fabricating accusations of anti-Semitism on US college campuses in order to incite official crackdowns against Palestine solidarity activism.

I tell Hedges that “a lot of these fake anti-Semitism allegations are about trying to lay a factual basis to make federal civil rights complaints or lawsuits that can then be used to force university administrations to muzzle students and teachers.”

The Emergency Committee for Israel, an anti-Palestinian activist group, is also seen in the Al Jazeera film organizing a fake pro-Israel protest at the national conference of Students for Justice in Palestine, using paid fellows who are required to attend.

One of the participants describes it as “a chance to shout at Arabs.”

‘Really disgusting’: Twitter unimpressed as Netanyahu uses Trump in election posters

A looming poster of best buds Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump has sprung up in Tel Aviv, as the Israeli leader campaigns for upcoming elections. The poster has sparked jokes and disgust on social media.

Netanyahu, Trump grin down on Israelis in giant election poster

A giant billboard advert in Tel Aviv features Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump grinning and shaking hands, as Israel's prime minister cranks up his campaign ahead of April elections.

The 20 metre by 10 metre advert -- with the slogan "Netanyahu, in another league" in Hebrew -- is plastered above a busy traffic junction, and the poster has gone up elsewhere in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other cities.

Photos of the billboard have been trending on social media networks.

The Israeli premier has built a strong relationship with Trump, whose administration in December 2017 recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Netanyahu has repeatedly flagged this decision as evidence of his ability to influence the US president.

Over 1,100 Truckload of Military Equipment Sent to Eastern Euphrates since US Pullout Declaration

More than 1,100 trucks carrying US-made weapons and military equipment have been dispatched to the Eastern Euphrates region since President Trump declared his decision to withdraw forces from Syria.

The London-based Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Sunday that despite US President Donald Trump's announcement on December 19 to evacuate forces from Syria, the US army continues sending military convoys to Eastern Euphrates.

It added that over 1,130 convoys, carrying military and logistic equipment have been dispatched to the US-occupied bases in Eastern Euphrates since Trump's declaration.

In a relevant development in late January, the US Army sent over 250 Military Trucks to Raqqa, Hasaka, Aleppo to reinforce its military bases there.

Venezuelan oil or Florida politics: Why is Trump after Maduro?

The White House seeks to overthrow the governments in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.

The United States has been quite transparent in its intentions regarding Venezuela - it is determined to get rid of the current government and install the unelected, self-declared president Juan Guaido.

The White House is very clear - it wants to overthrow the governments in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua; and the US control over the world's largest oil reserves.

However, there are concerns in Washington that the Trump administration has mistaken opposition to President Nicolas Maduro for support for US intervention, or for a candidate asking for military intervention.

Dem presidential hopefuls vote against anti-BDS bill, as Van Hollen says it will ‘strengthen’ the peaceful BDS movement

The Senate is once again debating boycott against Israel today, in a sign that Middle East policy is politicized as never before.

The Senate voted overwhelmingly yesterday, 76 to 22, to proceed forward on S.1, a bill sponsored by Marco Rubio– and AIPAC, the leading Israel lobby group– that encourages states to adopt measures to financially punish “entities using boycotts, divestments, or sanctions to influence Israel’s policies.”

The anti-BDS language is an unconstitutional limitation of free speech, the ACLU has said; state laws aimed at crushing BDS have already cost employment to a number of people of good faith who are opposed to Israeli policies.

IMAGE OF THE DAY ~~ ELECTIONS IN ISRAEL

The Israeli campaign trail is heating up as the April 9 elections draw closer. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a fast-growing opposition, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has said he plans to decide whether to indict the PM before the election, and Palestinian lawmakers are scrambling to finalize their slates ahead of their primaries.

Former Israeli military chief Benny Gantz, head of the new Hosen L’Yisrael party (Resilience for Israel), is making strides in his election campaign, with polls placing him at a near tie with Netanyahu — something no other candidate or party has managed to do in recent years.

Following Gantz’s first public speech in Tel Aviv earlier this week, Haaretz reported that if elections were held now, Gantz would receive 21 to 24 Knesset seats — eight seats up from the previous poll predictions.

LATUFF MAKES ISRAELI HEADLINES

Brazilian cartoon artist Carlos Latuff welcomed an Israeli military delegation, which was sent to assist local search and rescue teams to look for hundreds of missing people following a dam collapse in the country, with an anti-Semitic caricature portraying IDF soldiers as murderers with blood on their hands.

The Israeli delegation, which brought with it special equipment to allow them to operate in the muddy conditions, comprised of over 100 Israeli soldiers from the Home Front Command, includes engineers, doctors, and search and rescue personnel. Israel was the only country that sent a search and rescue team.

Latuff, known for his anti-Israeli views, is a political caricaturist whose work is published worldwide. One of his past works compared Israel with Nazi Germany.
