Jordanians call for annulment of peace treaty with Israel as King Abdullah meets Palestinian leader

Jordan’s foreign minister Ayman Safadi on Thursday said America's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel would "frustrate" peace efforts and provoke Muslims and Christians across the Arab world.

"Jordan rejects [the] decision and all its implications and will continue to work for an independent Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital," Mr Safadi declared.

Israel uses Palestinian land to illegally dump toxic waste

Israel has turned the occupied West Bank into a dumping ground for its waste in violation of international law.

“Israel’s environmental policy in the West Bank, including situating polluting waste treatment facilities there, is part and parcel of the policy of dispossession and annexation it has practiced in the West Bank for the past 50 years,” a new report by human rights group B’Tselem says.

“Israel is exploiting the West Bank for its own benefit, ignoring the needs of the Palestinians almost entirely, and harming both them and their environment.”

PALESTINE-SYRIA WAR REPORT – DECEMBER 8, 2017: JERUSALEM STANDOFF

On December 7, the Palestinian al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades fired several rockets at the Israeli settlements of Hof Ashkelon and Sha’ar HaNegev north of the Gaza Strip. The group said in a statement that this was only the first response to the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and said that more actions will follow. The Israeli Defense Forces said that a battle tank and a warplane had targeted two posts in Gaza in response to the shelling.

According to local sources, Israeli warplanes are highly active over Gaza as the situation escalates.

Jerusalem embassy move has zero upside for America

Why is it a problem that the Trump administration is recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital with plans to relocate the American Embassy there? After all, Israeli’s entire government is located in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is where the American government conducts its relations with Israel. It is the stated capital of Israel, one of America’s closest allies.

The answer is that the status of Jerusalem is deeply contested. Both Israel and Palestinians claim it as the capital of their respective states. Both sides have agreed to negotiate the city’s status, but thus far have not come up with any solutions, even on the most basic question of whether or where to locate the boundary between the areas each claims for itself: Israel claims the entire city as its capital while the Palestinians claim East Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Debacle Fallout: 'Trump Has Given In to Israel's Secret Plan for City'

***
Speaking to Sputnik Kurdistan about the implications of Trump's move, Turkish-Kurdish political observer Faik Bulut said the decision plays into Israeli hands and its plans for the city.
"First of all, with this step, Trump wanted to demonstrate his support for Israel," the analyst said. "Second, Israel has a secret project which aims to make the [multi-ethnic and multi-religious] city of Jerusalem a Jewish one."

Watch: Jerusalem, “The Flower of Cities”

A beautiful song by Lebanese singer Fairuz encapsulating the beautiful city of Jerusalem, occupied by the Israelis, an occupation that has just been endorsed by Donald Trump.

Jerusalem is an Arab, Muslim-Christian city and will remain thus, whatever Trump and his like say.

Everything comes to an end, and one day the Israeli occupation will also collapse, despite the disaster sweeping the Arab world thanks to the Muslim Brotherhood and its offspring – Islamic State group, Al-Qaeda and their countless offishoots and clones.

The song is in Arabic but you should enjoy it even if you do not understand Arabic.

Our lawmakers – the same ones who rallied behind the Taylor Force Act – were silent about other Americans who were killed and maimed in Israel and refused to investigate the USS Liberty incident. Erasing the Liberty: The Battle to Keep Alive the Memory of Israel’s Massacre on the USS Liberty

On June 8, 1967, the virtually unarmed USS Liberty (AGTR-5), the U.S. Navy’s most sophisticated spy ship, while monitoring communications in international waters in the eastern Mediterranean during the Six-Day War—to find out if the Soviet Union was assisting its Arab client states—was viciously attacked by unmarked Israeli jets and marked Israeli motor torpedo boats.

The unprovoked, premediated assault murdered 34 young American boys and wounded 174, out of a crew of 294, an almost 71% casualty rate. The ship took nearly 1,000 cannon and rocket holes—some the size of basketballs—as well as over 5,000 armor-piercing shells, through the skin of the vessel. The Israelis dropped napalm on the defenseless ship and shot at sailors attempting to rescue the wounded and put out fires, as well as firing on all the remaining life rafts, a war crime.

Jerusalem status: World condemns Trump's announcement

Traditional US allies are among a growing chorus condemning President Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Saudi Arabia called it "unjustified and irresponsible", while France and the UK said they did not support the decision.

But Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu hailed it as "historic" and said he was sure more countries would follow suit.

President Trump's move reversed decades of US policy on one of the thorniest issues between Israel and Palestinians.

Hundreds of Israeli troops have been deployed to the West Bank amid a day of protests and strikes by Palestinians. The Islamist group Hamas has called for a new intifada, or uprising.

State Department warns Americans they are in danger from terror attacks WORLDWIDE following Trump's Jerusalem decision

The State Department issued a new 'Worldwide Caution' to Americans traveling overseas on Wednesday, after President Donald Trump announced the U.S. has officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The update did not include specific warnings about Israel, the West Bank and Gaza; that region's travel advisory dates back to April.

But the State Department did advise Americans to avoid Jerusalem's Old City and the West Bank on Tuesday, anticipating strong reactions to Trump's speech once the subject matter became public.

The global warning advised American citizens to 'maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness when traveling.'

ISRAEL LAUNCHES MASSIVE SURPRISE MILITARY DRILL AHEAD OF TRUMP’S JERUSALEM SPEECH AND AFTER STRIKES IN SYRIA

Israel launched a large-scale surprise military drill late Tuesday along the country’s northern border with Lebanon, one of many regional countries to condemn President Donald Trump’s anticipated announcement recognizing the disputed city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The Israeli military reportedly mobilized its Galilee division, including hundreds of logistics corps soldiers and dozens of vehicles, without prior notice, in an effort to test its rapid-response capabilities in the event of a conflict breaking out in the tense northern region, near foes Lebanon and Syria. Both Arab nations have recognized Jerusalem solely as the capital of an independent Palestinian state, and have been hit by Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran-backed forces, such as Lebanon’s Shiite Muslim Hezbollah movement, which has focused on battling Syrian rebels and jihadis in recent years. It has also clashed with Israeli forces for decades.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Seven Palestinians were wounded at demonstrations checkpoint near the West Bank city of Ramallah. Four were said to have been wounded by live fire and two by rubber bullets. Eight were wounded by rubber bullets in Tul Karm, three in Bethlehem. Four Palestinians were wounded by rubber bullets in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat. Confrontations were also reported in Nablus and Jenin. A military spokeswoman said soldiers had used "riot-dispersal gear" against hundreds of rock-throwers. Dozens of demonstrators were treated for inhalation of tear gas.

Abbas: US Can No Longer Mediate Israel-Palestinian Talks

With the US so heavily committed to supporting Israel, and protecting them from any UN resolutions, it’s always been difficult for the Palestinian leadership to trust the US to be an impartial moderator for peace efforts. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says Wednesday’s move by President Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital has effectively ended that entirely.

Abbas says there is no way at this point that the Palestinians can trust the US to be a mediator, saying Trump’s move encourages Israel to continue the occupation and expansion of settlements, undermining the two-state solution.

Trump has suggested that the recognition of the capital is going to help the peace process, though the Secretaries of State and Defense are both warning the move risks provoking regional violence, and White House officials say that the recognition threatens the peace process in the near-term

Webmaster's Commentary:

What President Trump has done, effectively, in this act, is he has thoroughly destroyed the peace process; characterized American foreign policy, when it comes to the Palestenian people, as completely undeserving of any trust or credibility; destroyed any possibility of a two-state solution; and made new regional wars nearly inevitble.

These were precisely the outcomes Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu wanted, because fear of such internal violence and wars against its neighbors, have always been Netanyahu's major way to "glue" the Israeli people together, and let him do, basically, whatever he wants with Israel's government and military.

Remember the animated movie "Wreck-It Ralph"?!? Well, it appears that, when it comes to any Israeli/Palestinian peace and rapprochement, we have a "Wreck-It Donald" in the White House, a turn of events over which I am both profoundly unhappy, and deeply concerned.

Types With Tired Fingers

I have recently had a religious epiphany. I have decided to convert to the Sun Dance faith. This is a religion practiced by many of the North American native people for thousands of years. It's easy to be a Sun Dancer; you can see the Sun! That's a definite plus compared to religions relying on that imaginary playmate in the sky.

In the spirit of traditional naming custom I have taken an aspect of my life as a blogger and adopted my new Native American name, "Types With Tired Fingers." Because I am now religiously connected with the original people of the North American continent, who have been there for thousands of years, I hereby call on the United States Government to withdraw and return this land to its rightful traditional owners, myself included. After all, "We" were here first!

Sounds silly, doesn't it?

Trump's Jerusalem Tit-For-Tat: Orders Saudis To ‘Immediately’ End Yemen Blockade

In a brief statement issued Wednesday afternoon, President Trump called on Saudi leadership to completely lift the years long Saudi military blockade on war-torn Yemen. The unexpected announcement came on the same day President Trump delivered an extremely controversial televised address wherein he gave official US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“I have directed officials in my administration to call the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to request that they completely allow food, fuel, water and medicine to reach the Yemeni people who desperately need it,” Trump said through a White House press release. “This must be done for humanitarian reasons immediately.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, please let me get my head around this; you are requesting that the Butcher of Yemen, AKA Prince Salman, end the siege of Yemen, after you just publicly recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital, keeping your promise to APIAC, and symbolically writing off your debt of $100 million dollars to Sheldon Adelson during the last campaign and yet, you are expecting all of this to make Prince Salman amenable to ending the seige of Yemen?!?

Sir, I am frantically looking for the logic in this request, and frankly seeing absolutely none.

What I would rather expect, particularly after your declaration yesterday regarding Jerusalem, is for Prince Salman to massively acellerate his bombing campaign in Yemen to the point of wiping out any Yemeni people still standing, in retalliation for your having recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

'Death Sentence': World Leaders Slam Trump Over Reckless Jerusalem Stunt

US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was roundly denounced by the UN General-Secretary and even US allies in Europe including Germany, France and the UK. But the sharpest rebukes came from Muslim leaders.

The ancient city of Jerusalem is claimed as the capital by both Israel and Palestine, which are locked in a bitter, decades-long dispute over borders and sovereignty. The international community does not recognize the unilateral annexation and considers the status of the city to be one of the core problems of the Middle East conflict. In a Wednesday night statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Washington’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital is a “blatant violation of international resolutions.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always stressed that the most important reason behind instability and insecurity in the Middle East is [Israel’s] continued occupation, the US’ relentless support for the Zionist regime, and denying the oppressed Palestinian nation the right to establish an independent state with al-Quds as it capital,” the statement said.

He may have small hands, but US President Donald Trump appears to have a big foot. And with his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, he has shoved it squarely up the part of conventional international Middle East peacemaking diplomacy that never sees the sun.

So far, so good, you might think. Decades of international peacemaking efforts have, after all, failed, as Trump said in his statement, to make peace. War is peace: Trump’s move on occupied Jerusalem

"War in Palestine is peace of mind in Washington. This seems to fit the Trump doctrine. But are the Palestinians really ideal for the role? Israeli commentators believe that Arab and Muslim leaders won’t side with Palestine. The risk is that the Arab and Muslim masses react very differently. The situation could quickly become volatile. And the crucial question that Americans must ask themselves tomorrow morning is how Trump’s “war is peace” makes “America great again”? It doesn’t. This is simply a survival tactic on Trump’s part. It benefits Trump and Trump alone.

As far as I can tell, Trump is doing a great job obliterating what is left of America’s world hegemony. Give Trump another year in office, assuming that the planet can take it, and American prestige and influence will shrink to none. Some may well argue that this alone makes Trump a positive force in contemporary world politics."

Trump to declare Jerusalem capital of Israel: White House officials

The president is expected to officially announce the policy changes in remarks at the White House at 1pm on Wednesday.

A U.S. official and a source close to the White House told ABC News that official recognition of Jerusalem as the capital is expected to be intentionally broad and not meant to preclude the possibility that the Palestinians could claim part of the historic city as a capital of a future Palestinian state. The president does not want to "prejudice" the outcome of any future peace negotiations for a two-state solution, one source familiar with the plan told ABC News.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please; if your desired outcome of this announcement was to light a match and throw it into pools of gasoline in order to ignite the entire Middle East on fire, you certainly have achieved your objective, bravo!! Well done!!

You had to understand that once this announcement was made, Israel will never allow the Palestinians to claim even a tiny portion of Jerusalem as their capital, and will continue to pursue brisk Jewish only settlements, coupled by brisk annexations and demolitions of homes in which Palestinians have lived for decades, which will engulf the West Bank and East Jerusalem into places of extreme violence, which will put both Israelis and Palestinians in great risk for violence.

By this action, you have incontrovertibly proven, and demonstrated fully, that the United states is pathologically incapable of being an honest broker for peace, and that the two state solution is, for all intents, and purposes, dead.

Congratulations on your monumental idiocy on this issue; your good buddy, Prime Minister Netanyahu got precisely what he wanted; but the price, in terms of potential violence for the entire region, is potentially going to be an horrific price to pay.

US President Donald Trump’s expected announcement of plans to move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem has quickly whipped up a furore, with pundits and foreign leaders warning of intifada-style upheaval and the collapse of Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts.

Which begs the simple question: why announce the move? Trump has spoken of a desire to strike the “ultimate deal” between Israelis and Palestinians – relocating the embassy would likely render Washington unable to play an honest broker in future talks.

Meanwhile, Trump has heard warnings from Arab and European leaders, UN boss Antonio Guterres and even his own State Department pen pushers. The message is clear: an embassy shift would break with decades of US policy and risk fuelling further unrest in the Middle East.

France to Recognize Palestine as Part of European Union

Ambassador of Palestine to France Salman Al-Harfi said the French government has expressed desire to recognize Palestine, but as part of the European Union.
He told in a phone call that France wants to recognize a state of Palestine, but with other European countries taking part, because it will safeguard the peace process, WAFA reported.

“The Palestinian leadership aspires for France to recognize a state of Palestine, assume its role in the Middle East and form the backbone of the supportive European position,” he added.

Al-Harfi expressed said France is pushing for a European recognition in a time where the US is pressuring the European community not to recognize a state of Palestine on the borders of 1967.

Trump ‘declaring war in the Middle East,’ says top Palestinian diplomat

U.S. President Donald Trump is “declaring war in the Middle East,” a senior Palestinian diplomat told reporters Wednesday after it was revealed that the United States will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and eventually relocate its embassy there.

“At a time when the entire Middle East and the Palestinian and Israelis need a certain breakthrough, a re-engagement in negotiations, here he [Trump] comes […] to start a whole new episode of confusion, anarchy, distortion to the concept of a two-state solution,” Manuel Hassassian, the Palestinian general delegate to the UK, told the BBC’s Today program Wednesday.

By recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, which the president is expected to announce later Wednesday, Trump would declare “war in the Middle East” as well as “war against 1.5 billion muslims,” Hassassian said.

‘Palestinians have the right to sovereignty over Jerusalem,’ insists Kuwaiti envoy

Kuwait’s envoy to the Arab League warned on Tuesday of the dangerous consequences of US President Donald Trump’s plan to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Anadolu has reported. Ahmed Al-Baker made his comments during a speech at the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League to discuss the undermining of the legal and historical status of Jerusalem.

“[Trump’s plan] is worrying and has dangerous consequences for the peace process, security and stability in the region,” Al-Baker pointed out. “The historic right of sovereignty over the holy city is for the Palestinians.” He renewed his country’s support for the rights of the Palestinians over Jerusalem and all the other Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.

The envoy said that Kuwait is sticking to the Arab Peace Initiative and UN Security Council resolutions 242 and 338. “Kuwait,” he explained, “believes in a just and comprehensive peace as a strategic solution for all the Arab countries.”

Israel slams EU over anti-occupation photo exhibit

Israel has denounced the European Union Embassy for planning to host a photo gallery about the suffering of Palestinians under Israeli occupation.

Titled "Fifty Years: Fifty Portraits of Palestinians Born in 1967", the exhibition, funded by Israeli rights group B’Tselem, is scheduled to open in the city of Jaffa on Thursday.

"For reasons that are not clear, the EU believes the path to Israel’s heart is by spitting in its face," Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nachshon was quoted as saying Jerusalem Post newspaper on Wednesday.

"We are again witnessing the patronizing attitude of [the EU’s] hypocritical moral preaching, which creates distance rather than closeness and this is sad and unnecessary," he said.

Israeli Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev, for her part, said she was not surprised by the connection between the EU and B’Tselem.

Why declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is so controversial

US President Donald Trump is expected to declare Jerusalem as the capital of Israel this week in a move that will spark controversy across the world.

The announcement would move Trump one step closer to fulfilling his campaign pledge to relocate the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem -- a move long sought by Israel, but set aside by previous US Presidents due to regional concerns and Jerusalem's contested status between Israelis and Palestinians. Both sides claim the holy city as their capital.

Upon making his decision public, Trump is expected to sign a waiver to keep the US embassy in Tel Aviv for another six months. But the State Department's security arm has been told to plan for potentially violent protests at US embassies and consulates if the White House announces the move.

While some have claimed in response that Palestinians for always being angry, in fact such attitudes reflect a lack of understanding about the injustice at the heart of this issue.

Even as Trump rang regional heads of state on Tuesday to inform them of his decision, Jordan’s King Abdullah emphasized its “dangerous repercussions” for regional stability.

Russia concerned over US plans to recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital

The Kremlin is concerned about a possible deterioration of the situation in the Middle East if Jerusalem is recognized as the capital of Israel by the US, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday. However, he said that it would be premature to comment on decisions that have yet to be made, according to TASS. Peskov noted that the issue had been discussed earlier during a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. “They expressed concern about the situation and its possible exacerbation,” said Peskov.

Trump and Netanyahu Conspire to Make Jerusalem Israel’s Capital as They Make Preparations to Attack Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is apparently now close to being indicted for corruption, is becoming increasingly desperate to cover up his alleged financial criminality. His strategy to deflect attention is to conspire with the Trump family for the US to collaborate in changing the status of Jerusalem from an ‘international city affording access to all faiths’, to being the political capital of Israel.

It is also alleged that he is colluding with the White House in making preparations for Israeli forces to attack Iran, presumably together with US troops and American F-35 strike aircraft. That would be a catastrophic political and military error that would have dire consequences for both the Middle East and Europe.

Thousands protest against Netanyahu's corruption

As reported in mondoweiss.net, the following article appeared:

The veteran journalist Larry Derfner reports from Israel that “everybody here feels war is coming.” He adds, “There’s so much tough talk from Israel, and the Saudis would love Israel to fight a war for their interests, and the tension is very high — all this is in the news all the time.” Derfner does not believe Hezbollah or Iran would start the conflict, “because they know they’d get crushed.” He explains, “The only one I see starting it is Israel, because Israel is both strong and paranoid.” Bradley Burston, a respected columnist in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, also could not have been more clear the other day. His opinion piece was entitled, “Netanyahu Needs a War. He Needs It to Be With Iran. And He Needs It Soon.” Burston argues that Netanyahu has several selfish reasons for wanting a conflict: 1) The Israeli political reality is turning against him. “He’s desperate now because he’s losing ground fast in the latest opinion polls.” 2) He sees he may be out of power soon, and he’s “obsessed by his place in history.” Burston writes, “Netanyahu still has no legacy beyond the number of all those many years in power.” 3) Netanyahu may also provoke war to distract from the ongoing probes into his corruption: “He’s desperate because police detectives and investigative journalists are closing in on him.”

CIA Chief: Saudi, Israel May Set Up ‘Joint Military Headquarters’

CIA Director Mike Pompeo says Saudi Arabia is working directly with Israel on confronting “challenges” in the Middle East, suggesting that the two sides could go as far as setting up “a joint military headquarters.”

Speaking at the Reagan National Defense Forum in California, Pompeo cited Daesh, Iran and “failed states” as posing a challenge to both Saudi Arabia and Israel, advising the two sides to develop their relationship.

“We’ve seen them [Saudis] work with the Israelis to push back against terrorism throughout the Middle East, to the extent we can continue to develop those relationships and work alongside them – the [Persian] Gulf states and broader Middle East will likely be more secure,” he said.

“It is incredibly important that in the Middle East, where we have failed states, where you have ISIS, where you have Iran, that we have got to develop a stronger coalition of countries that are willing to work together to confront these challenges,” he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

CIA Director Pompeo, forgive me please sir, but this is an officially horrible idea, and concretely telegraphs that the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, are all gung ho on attacking Iran, creating "regime change" in Tehran.

So Director Pompeo,I, need to ask a question of you here; should the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia do this, how will Russia respond, in light of the fact that Russian military and political leaders have vowed to protect Iran militarily, should it be attacked?!?

Director Pompeo, I truly believe that you owe all Americans, particularly those whose kids will be killed or mamed for life in such a war, a brutally honest assessment here of what the potential involvement of Russia's military would mean in a war against Iran.

An ominous warning: ‘Netanyahu needs a war with Iran. And he needs it soon’

2 December, 2017: In a dangerous escalation, Israel last night attacked a military base near Syria’s capital, Damascus, using both warplanes and surface-to-surface missiles. News sources in Syria said the target was an Iranian installation near Al-Kiswa, 7 miles south of the city.

This attack — Israeli officials declined comment — is just the latest ominous sign from Israel that the unholy alliance of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, may be planning to greatly expand war in the Mideast, targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, and its ally and patron, Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel may, in fact, start this war, but they will fully expect most of the costs, in blood and money, to be borne by a US intervention into this war, on Israel's side.

I hope President Trump thoroughly comprehends that should we attack Iran, Russia - whose political and military leaders have consistently vowed to protect it under attack - will enter the fray on Iran's side.

And, as having been demonstrated in Syria, Russian weaponry does work.

Saudis move toward Netanyahu’s vision on the Palestinians — NY Times

An American peace plan rumored to be backed by Saudi Arabia has reportedly fueled concerns among Palestinian and Arab officials that Washington has adopted Israel’s views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Under a proposal presented by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during the latter’s visit to Riyadh last month, the Palestinians would receive a non-contiguous state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip without full sovereignty over the territory they control; the vast majority of Jewish settlements in the West Bank would not be evacuated; the Palestinians would not receive East Jerusalem as their capital; and Palestinian refugees and their descendants would not be allowed to return to Israel, The New York Times reported late Sunday.

The Inevitable Collapse of Israeli-Saudi-American Alliance Against Iran and Resistance

From the earliest years of the Zionist project, the leaders of the movement - which then morphed into the State of Israel - understood that regional coalitions were crucial to its success. But Israel is a settler colonial project and therefor it was and still is very much hated by people in the region. Israel and its leaders invested in creating and promoting corrupt unprincipled despots to lead in the countries around it, men who would control the Arab world by keeping its people poor, uneducated and without representation and would pose no threat to Israel and its policies of genocide and ethnic cleansing perpetuated against the people of Palestine. Israel has had some degree of success in this, especially with the reactionary monarchies. Countries who had leaders that resisted Israel ended up paying a heavy price.

Although there are active Jewish communities all around the country, Tehran’s community is the most significant.

Journalists must refuse Israeli junkets

Next year, the Giro d’Italia – a major cycling race – will start in Jerusalem.

Hoping to garner some favorable publicity, Israel and its supporters are already organizing press trips ahead of the event.

Richard Abraham, a cycling writer, has admitted that a recent visit he made to the Middle East was “paid for by the Israelis” as part of a charm offensive. Significantly, his disclosure was included in a reflective article for a publication called Rouleur, rather than in a news feature on the same topic that Abraham wrote for The Guardian – a more widely-read newspaper with a declared desire to discover and tell the truth.

Israel lobby billionaire praises Kushner for collusion with Netanyahu

President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner received public praise on Sunday from a billionaire Israel lobby financier for his possibly illegal attempts to derail a UN Security Council vote condemning Israel’s settlements a year ago.

This came as news broke that Kushner failed to disclose in government ethics filings his role as director of a family foundation that funded Israeli settlements.

Kushner, a senior adviser to Trump, is in charge of efforts to revive the so-called peace process.

New details of Kushner’s Saudi-backed plan reported Sunday confirm that it would require nothing less than a complete capitulation by the Palestinians to Israel’s demands, leaving them with a state in name only.
