In Israel, Huckabee goes against longstanding U.S. policy

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on Wednesday rejected the notion that the West Bank is occupied territory insisting instead that the largely Palestinian-populated territory is part of Israel.

Huckabee's statements -- during a trip to Israel -- fly in the face of international law and longstanding U.S. policy, which consider the West Bank as occupied territory and the construction of additional settlements in that territory illegal.

"I don't see it as occupied," Huckabee said Wednesday during a press conference in Jerusalem. "That makes it appear as if someone is illegally taking land. I don't see it that way."

Why has there been almost no reconstruction in Gaza?

A major reason for the fact that reconstruction is only just beginning is that between last August’s ceasefire and the end of July this year, Israel has allowed into Gaza just 6.5 percent of the construction supplies needed to repair years of destruction and accumulated housing needs.

African-American rights activists endorse boycott of Israel

Young African-Americans facing heavily armed police in the streets of Baltimore and Ferguson over the past year have compared their situation to that of Palestinians under Israeli fire, telling reporters that their conditions were “like Gaza.” On Tuesday, black racial-justice activists took the comparison a step further, issuing a statement linking their cause with that of Palestinians, and putting their weight behind the growing boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement.

Morocco condemns Israel’s Judaisation of Jerusalem

The Moroccan government has condemned what it describes as Israel’s attempts to Judaise Jerusalem and encourage illegal Jewish settlements across the occupied territories.

Speaking to reporters after Wednesday’s cabinet meeting in Rabat, government spokesman and Minister of Communications Mustapha Al-Khalfi said that Morocco regards such attempts as the “fragmentation” of Arab and Islamic identity in the city.

“Work is underway within the Arab League,” he explained, “and in coordination with the Islamic countries to crystallise positions to stand up to these exercises and put in place a process that ensures support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and enables them to regain their legitimate rights.”

'Desperate situation': UN confirms typhoid at Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus

Typhoid has broken out at a Palestinian refugee camp in the Syrian capital, with at least 6 cases confirmed, according to the UN. The body is concerned that these cases are just “the tip of the iceberg," warning of "massive" risks of other diseases.

The cases confirmed by the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) come from blockaded Yarmouk refugee camp in the south of Damascus, which houses displaced Palestinian refugees and Syrian civilians. Over 200 medical consultations have been carried out.

"Our concern is that these typhoid cases only represent the tip of the iceberg, because the erosion of health services and appalling public health standards create a massive, massive risk of diseases breaking out," UNWRA spokesman Chris Gunness told Reuters, adding that the “situation is desperate.”

It would be fair to say the massacre of around 100 Palestinian villagers by Jewish Stern Gang and Irgun terrorists in the village of Deir Yassin nearly 70 years ago is not well remembered today.
Like many of the horrific events surrounding the creation of the state of Israel, the massacre on April 9, 1948 has been quietly dropped down the memory hole. It was a horrific tale of British betrayal and Jewish ruthlessness, and is still too embarrassing for both Jewish elites and the British government.

Fatah: Israel attempts to turn PA into expanded municipality

Member of Fatah executive committee Mohamed Ishtea said on Friday that Israel does not want a Palestinian state based upon the 1967 borders because it recognises that this would contribute to its end, Qudsnet reported.

During the inauguration of a conference about Palestinian refugees in the refugee camp of Ayda in the West Bank, he said that Israel wants the Palestinians to remain living in small scattered cantons.

Ishtea stressed that the Oslo Agreement happened during a very difficult political situation for the Arab countries, noting that there was a number of positive points in the agreement such as the return of 150,000 Palestinian refugees and the establishment of the state.

Meanwhile, he said that there are many negative points in the agreement, which have to be corrected by spreading national awareness and rebuilding the PLO, thus enabling it to carry out its role as a home for all the Palestinians.

Israel, Congress and the Iran Nuclear Agreement

When someone suggests that perhaps United States aid to Israel, greater than that given to all other countries combined, could fantinapossibly go to better use serving the taxpayers whose pockets it is being extracted from, Israel interprets such ideas as anti-Semitic, clear evidence that another Holocaust is around the corner, and needing the support of the U.S. Congress to quash such destructive thoughts. If one mentions the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, suffering caused by the illegal Israeli blockade, Israeli spokespeople accuse the speaker of denying Israel its right to defend itself. Once we defeat the Israeli-directed attempt to derail the Iran deal in Congress we can safely go out into the streets declaiming: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we’re free at last!

The Iran deal is a turning point in US foreign policy, and its approval by Congress will represent a sea change in American politics: it will mark nothing less than a day of liberation which future generations might dub “VI Day” – victory over Israel day.

The signing of the Iran deal, and its probable approval by Congress – it doesn’t look like the War Party has the votes to overturn it – heralds the victory of the countercoup, i.e. the overthrow of the Lobby’s stranglehold and the eventual restoration of a pro-American foreign policy. FLASHPOINT: Palestinian Youths Clash With Israeli Police at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque

As 21WIRE reported last week, Israel’s IDF just happened to stage a massive “drill” just before Jewish settlers carried out a savage arson attack which burned a Palestinian child alive. Other Palestinian youths were also shot and killed in Gaza and the West Bank. Now hostilities have spread to the frontline – at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Could this be a provocateur action by Israel’s hard right to stir up the native Palestinians – as a pretext for another brutal IDF ‘human cull’ like we witnessed last summer? As protests continue, the peace process remains dead – a tragic situation, yet, one which seems to suit Tel Aviv at present as it continues to expand its illicit (and illegal), ill-gotten real estate holdings.

Power in the service of Power

It’s been a bad month for the angst-ridden US ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power. Last week, she was “outraged” by Russia’s veto at the UN Security Council of an international criminal court into the downing of Malaysian airliner MH17 over eastern Ukraine.

Towards a more sensible foreign policy…

Some polls are showing Jeremy Corbyn forging ahead in the Labour Party leadership race by as much as 20 points. The political Establishment is shaken and quite definitely stirred.

Corbyn: the antidote to the Blairite ‘virus’ and Zionist snake-bite

Jeremy Corbyna is man to look up to and identify with…. and a man who is not tempted by the Israeli shekel. If any of his opponents lands the leadership Labour will remain under the yoke of Zionist ambitions and enslave by the gangster regime in Tel Aviv. They’ll be looking for any excuse to gang up in death-dealing raids into countries the US and Israel don’t like. And they’ll continue to provide a safe haven to Israel’s war criminals.

Norman Finkelstein denounces Amnesty's whitewash on Gaza

Finkelstein writes:

In its introduction to Families under the Rubble, Amnesty exhorts Israel to “learn the lessons of this and previous conflicts and change its military doctrine and tactics for fighting in densely populated areas such as Gaza so as to ensure strict compliance with international humanitarian law.” But Israel has already learnt the lessons of fighting in Gaza, its military doctrine has incorporated these lessons, and the IDF brilliantly executed them. It requires exceptional mental discipline not to notice that ensuring “strict compliance with international law” has not been an Israeli concern, let alone a priority. Indeed, the whole point of OPE was to leave “families under the rubble.”

TIME TO INVOKE THE DEATH PENALTY IN ISRAEL

In Israel, capital punishment is allowed only during and only for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, crimes against the Jewish people, treason, and certain crimes under military law during wartime. The current Arab-Israel conflict is considered a war, and the committing of any of the crimes can result in the death penalty. Israel inherited the British Mandate of Palestine code of law, which included the death penalty for several offenses, but in 1954, Israel abolished the penalty for murder. (FROM)

When an 18 month old is brutally burnt to death by rampaging settlers in the Occupied West Bank, is there any other punishment that fits the crime?

Erodogan and Netanyahu Declare War

The rulers of the two most powerful authoritarian regimes in the Middle East are launching major wars to reconfigure the Middle East.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has declared war by proxy on Iran, announcing full-scale military mobilization within Israel (July 27 -29) and organizing the biggest political campaign of ultra Zionist Jews in Washington. The purpose of this two-pronged propaganda blitz is to defeat the recently signed US-Iranian agreement and start another major Middle East war.

At the same time, Turkish Prime Minister Erodogan has launched a major war against the Kurdish people and their aspirations for a Kurdish state. T
