2014 Gaza offensive was ‘unfortunate yet lawful’ – Israel ahead of UN probe results

A day later Orange announced that it would seek to cancel a recently signed 10-year arrangement with Partner in Israel. Adelson’s Anti-BDS Event Links Money To Action

The “secret” Vegas weekend focused on planning for, and funding, a campaign to kill BDS in its academic cradle.

With U.S. billionaires both funding and setting up its top down strategy with Israeli-inspired organizations on American campuses, Israel’s successful invasion of U.S. institutions takes another major step toward “occupying” American institutions.

Four days after the Salon posting appeared, The New York Times buried two paragraphs about the Vegas event inside a longer story which featured the success Israel was enjoying in gaining anti-BDS support in state legislatures in South Carolina and Illinois.

This campaign against American supporters of Palestinian freedom, was prompted by the alarmed awareness among Israeli leaders, and their U.S. allies, that the BDS movement is rapidly gaining ground.

Diplomats: EU has Israel sanctions ready, and Uncle Sam may not be able to help

Israel wishes to delay the signing of a nuclear deal between world powers and Iran, but not solely because such an agreement would be dangerous to the Jewish State.

The concern is that immediately following such an agreement, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will become the UN Security Council's and European Union's top priority, and the international community will be freed up to deal with the party it sees as responsible for the stagnation in the peace process - Israel.

This is the widely-held assumption in off-the-record conversations among diplomatic sources in New York and in Washington. "A diplomatic attack against Israel is expected soon that will surprise even the pessimists in Jerusalem," a senior Western diplomat told The Jerusalem Post's Hebrew-language sister publication, Ma'ariv. "In the Security Council, in western capitals and at EU headquarters, they are just waiting for the Iran deal to be signed and for it to be approved by the American Congress."

Set up by a group of academics, lawyers and politicians more than 25 years ago, the NGO – whose name means “in the image of” and is a synonym in Hebrew for human dignity – has at times portrayed itself as the conscience of the nation.

But legislation being proposed by Israel’s new right-wing government threatens to severely limit the work of B’Tselem and scores of other Israeli NGOs that receive millions of dollars each year in donations from foreign governments and foundations.

While the legislation is in draft form, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party says she is determined to crack down on those who take foreign money and then criticize Israel, accusing the NGOs of “eroding the legitimacy of Israel to exist as a Jewish and democratic state.”

THE UN WAS RIGHT! ISRAEL DOES NOT ABUSE CHILDREN, IT JUST MURDERS THEM!

Throughout its unglamorous history, the UN issued many scandalous reports and adopted many scandalous resolutions reflecting lack of justice and absence of moral honesty. This ever-existing symptom also reflected western hegemony over the international organization.

However, none of these reports and resolutions seems more scandalous than this week’s report which kept Israel off the List of Shame, which includes states and entities that abuse children.

This particular report is manifestly scandalous precisely because Israel is probably one of the most obscene abusers of children under the sun.

Indeed, there are a few countries in this world that can be compared to Israel in this respect.

Israel Seeks to Criminalize Criticism

As a consequence, Israel’s credibility with an increasing number of people in the West has eroded. This erosion led to a relatively short period of time in the early 2000s when the Zionists attempted to counter the situation by engaging with their critics in public debate. However, the majority of time they lost.

Israel’s barbarous behavior on the ground, combined with the fact that their historical version of events was shown to be full of holes, condemned them to an increasingly weak defensive position. This proved to be intolerable to the Zionists, so they withdrew from the debating field.

And, as they did, they began to level charges of anti-Semitism against their critics, even those who are Jewish. These accusations of the worst sort of racism have been with us ever since – which is really ironic because much of what Israel is being criticized for is its own racist, apartheid nature.

Leap of Faith: Israel’s National Religious and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Although the landscape of Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking might bear resemblance to that of a decade past, one change is unmistakable: the right is stronger within Israel and the national religious are stronger within the right. This has consequences, some already felt, whether in politics (the rise of Naftali Bennett’s Jewish Home); negotiations (Prime Minister Netanyahu’s commitment to submit any putative agreement to a popular referendum); or on the ground (the rise in confrontational tactics among some young West Bank settlers). Adjusting to this reality means neither ignoring the national-religious agenda nor surrendering to it. It means acknowledging its importance and understanding ideological nuances within it. If the goal is a peace agreement that garners maximum legitimacy, including among the national religious, attention will have to be paid to the substance of the deal, the way in which it is ratified and eventually implemented.

People behind BDS are also responsible for 9/11 attack, Israeli centrist tells NY synagogue

Yair Lapid, the former Israeli finance minister and head of a centrist Israeli political party (who is just as hawkish as the government but in opposition), made news this weekend at the Jerusalem Post conference in New York saying that the BDS — Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions– campaign against Israel is a puppet of Hamas and describing BDS leaders as “outright antisemites” linked to the “Palestinian Mufti who collaborated with the Nazis.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lapid (and Israel's) claim that the Palestinians collaborated with the Nazis is based on a single photograph taken of Adolph Hitler meeting with the grand mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin.

The implication is that this meeting "proves" Palestinians are all closet Nazis.

But, let's look at some other photos.

Hitler with Pope Pius 12th. Does this picture mean all Catholics are closet Nazis?

Hitler with King Edward and Wallace Simpson. Does this photograph mean all British subjects are closet Nazis?

Hitler with France's Henry Philippe Petain. Does this photograph mean all the French are closet Nazis?

Hitler with British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain. Does this photograph mean all British subjects are closet Nazis?

Hitler with President Hoover. Does this photograph mean all Americans are closet Nazis?

The fact is that as a head of state, Hitler was required by diplomatic protocol to meet a lot of people and have his picture taken with them. It is just part of the job. And as WW2 proved, not everyone Hitler was photographed with agreed with him.

UN’s Ban Ki-moon caves in, takes Israel off list of serious child abusers

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has caved in to pressure from Israel and the United States and taken the Israeli military off an official list of serious violators of children’s rights, in this year’s report on children in armed conflict.

In doing so, Ban rejected an official recommendation from his own Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict Leila Zerrougui and numerous human rights organizations and child rights defenders.

Ban’s act is particularly egregious since the report found that the number of children killed in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip in 2014, at 557, was the third highest only after Iraq and Afghanistan and ahead of Syria.

UN spurns Palestinian children

Ban Ki-moon’s decision not to include Israel on the list of violators of children’s rights twists the knife in the heart of every Palestinian parent, making it very clear that in the eyes of the United Nations, Palestinian children’s lives don’t count.

When a military with the most sophisticated and accurate weaponry on the planet can kill more than 500 children in cold blood with complete impunity, as Israel’s absence from the list shows, it reveals more than just the complete disregard for Palestinian lives that has become so commonplace in the halls of power. It also makes it abundantly clear that the UN, the single most important international organisation charged with protecting the lives of the most vulnerable, is failing spectacularly.

BEX ALERT - IDF Rehearsing for Nightmare Scenario: 4,000 Killed in Days

Security forces are currently rehearsing and preparing for a scenario in which Israel's enemies launch a “carpet” missile attack that Iron Dome will be unable to counter, due to the sheer number of missiles involved, Arutz Sheva has learned from knowledgeable sources that wish to remain anonymous.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And I note that Iron Dome apparently did not stop those bottle-rockets fired into empty lots in Israel to justify the attacks on Gaza!

Israel a criminal offender at large, UN listing or not [GRAPHIC IMAGES]

Reports have come out that the UN was considering adding Israel to the list of “grave violations against children in armed conflict.” As detailed below, Israeli army and Israel’s state policies are systematically violent against Palestinian children.

A recent Independent article noted that [Special Envoy for Children and Armed Conflict Leila] “Zerrougui’s draft report cited IDF attacks on schools and hospitals during the 2014 war in the Gaza Strip...”

Even though the UN has historically not taken strong action against any of Israel’s war crimes over the decades, let alone those specifically against Palestinian children, Israel has reportedly exerted pressure to be de-listed from the draft list, with seeming success.

The Independent wrote, “UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, however, is said to be leaning towards not including Israel in the list, amid what several diplomatic sources anonymously said was intense lobbying from Israel.”

White House: Israel Has the Right to Defend Itself

White House reaffirms Washington’s support for Israel's right to defend itself after Israel retaliates for rocket attack on Ashkelon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The rockets killed no one, injured no one, and did not cause any property damage at all (good reason to suspect they were fired by Israeli agents provocateurs), nobody took credit, HAMAS denies it was them, yet Israel has a "right" to unleash air strikes and naval bombardment against the civilians of Gaza?

But what can you expect from a President who still insists humans are warming the planet?

A Chance Encounter With a Palestinian Refugee

Lebanon’s 12 refugee camps have become more crowded since March of 2011, but in large numbers starting in mid-December 2012, when Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp was heavily bombed. Between 70,000 and 90,000 Syrian-Palestinians have entered Lebanon and are staying mainly in Lebanon’s 12 refugee camps. Most were forced out of Syria because of persistent and accelerating civil-sectarian war, while others have left because of the lack of resources.

“The Lab”: Israel Tests Weapons, Tactics On Captive Palestinian Population

Shimon Peres, Israel’s president and the man who oversaw the country’s secret development of a nuclear bomb in the 1960s, held a star-studded 90th birthday party masquerading as a presidential conference in June (see August 2013 Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, p. 12).

Aside from the cloud cast by the decision of the renowned British physicist Stephen Hawking to boycott the event, it was an unabashed celebration of Peres’ life and work by a long list of the international “great and good,” from former U.S. President Bill Clinton to songstress Barbra Streisand.

However, as one Israeli website noted, this $3 million salute to the head of the Israeli state was financed chiefly by the arms industry.

UN Secretary-General weighs lumping Israel in with ISIS and Al Qaeda

This week Senators Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz have posed a challenge for would-be presidents and all Americans: if the United Nations criminalizes Israel’s exercise of the right of self-defense it will pay a heavy price. The organization has no right to expect billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to be doled out every year when they are spent undercutting our deepest values and our national security.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The UN is not responsible for the Unites States' values and no more responsible for US security than for any other member nation. The United Nation's job is maintaining peace under international law. If Graham and Cruz want to pull out of the United Nations to please their masters in Tel Aviv, that is fine. We will remind the voters that they did so (or tried to do so) next year!

The Big Lie at the Heart of the Myth of the Creation of Israel - An Interview with Lia Tarachansky

Lia Tarachansky’s heart-wrenching documentary, On the Side of the Road, reveals the Big Lie at the heart of the myth of the creation of Israel.

Tarachansky had to break through a lot of personal and social barriers to produce this often infuriating film about the Nakba, the “catastrophe” of 1948, when approximately 750,000 Palestinians (a number that has grown to 1.5 million refugees living in camps over the ensuing 67 years) were expelled from their homes and forced into squalid camps, where they are denied basic human rights.
