The memo at the heart of the latest blowup at the National Security Council paints a dark picture of media, academics, the “deep state,” and other enemies allegedly working to subvert U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a copy of the document obtained by Foreign Policy. The author of the memo, Rich Higgins, who was in the strategic planning office at the NSC, was among those recently pushed out.

Buddhist extremism, despite a clampdown, spreads in Myanmar

In May, Myanmar’s Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, a state appointed organization representing over 500,000 Buddhist monks known as Ma Ha Na, issued a controversial order against the Ma Ba Tha nationalist group to remove its signboards across the country.

The committee’s order came in response to Ma Ba Tha’s association with anti-Muslim activities and amid calls from Aung San Suu Kyi’s elected government that the Buddhist nationalist group was provoking instability. Ma Ha Na also accused Ma Ba Tha of acting against basic Sangha principles, rules and regulations.

Another View: An Objective Account of the #UniteTheRight Event

Wow, the Unite The Right event in Charlottesville, Virginia today was a total shit show, thanks largely (in my opinion) to the decisions made by local and state political and law enforcement authorities.

Unfortunately – and unsurprisingly – the actual event was in fact shut down prior to it even getting started, as local and state officials declared a state of emergency and canceled the event. The organizers and participants of the Unite the Right rally were ordered to disperse, and the event was shut down. Of course, chaos erupted, fights broke out, and the radical, anti-White scum were emboldened.

FAKE RALLY & FAKE CAR ATTACK IN VIRGINIA

Something smells extremely Gefilte-fishy about the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia and the alleged bizarre car-killing which took place there. Not only do the video of the incident (here) and the images of the aftermath present all the usual earmarks of a crisis-actor stunt, but the prominent presence at the previous night's "torch rally" of one "Richard Spencer" of the "National Policy Institute" also gives us cause for great suspicion.

From the article:
Spencer, an effeminate-sounding atheist, does not tolerate "anti-gay" views at his events, and his pedigree seems more establishmentarian that rebel -- having graduated from St. Mark's elite prep school in Dallas, Texas before moving on to Duke University. His election night rallying cry of "Hail Trump" and occasional use of German terms stink of contrived imposterism. And a very strange unearthed old photo of him and his wife posing with Laura Bush really sets Sugar's animal instincts off!

McCain to force Senate debate on Afghanistan war strategy, calls for more troops

Worried by the Trump administration’s delay in announcing a military strategy for the war in Afghanistan, Sen. John McCain said Thursday he’ll try to force the debate on Capitol Hill, offering his own plan that would force a troop increase.

The Arizona Republican, who is also chairman of the Armed Services Committee, didn’t lay out a number in the legislation but said more American counterterrorism forces should be deployed, and given independent authority to strike targets of the Taliban, al Qaeda or other terrorist groups.

Mr. McCain also said the U.S should secure a long-term agreement with Afghanistan for an “enduring” military presence there, and should begin to impose penalties on neighboring Pakistan as punishment for that country’s harboring of insurgents and terrorists.

His plan comes at a time when the Trump White House is divided by debate over what to do in the war-torn nation, which continues to backslide on a host of security yardsticks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to politely suggest to Senator Mc Cain, that to do the same thing, over and over, in precisely the same way, yet expecting a different outcome...is a classic definition of insanity.

For the last bloody 16 years, we have seen surges, followed by drawdowns,to absolutely no avail, in terms of getting less territory held by the Taliban. There is utterly no military metric by which you can characterise this war as having a "successful outcome".

So Senator Mc Cain, who never saw a US-instigated war he didn't like, there are some questions that come to mind, in terms of your great enthusiasm for pursuing countless wars, many times at an horrendous costs in blood and money, with lousy outcomes.

Senators make $174,000.00 per year, as of 2017.

Senate Salaries since 1789

Yet your net worth is estimated at +/- $21 million dollars

John Mc Cain's Estimated Net Worth

I have to wonder from what industries the extreme gap was filled between your annual salary and your net worth; would I be too far off the mark to say that the difference is made up either by personal investments in America's military/Industrial complex, or overt/covert contributions from these industries?!?

Those could, certainly, be your motivation for keeping a failed war in Afghanistan continuing.

JUDGE ORDERS NEW SEARCH OF STATE DEPARTMENT SERVERS FOR HILLARY'S BENGHAZI EMAILS

Ironically, State Department officials at the time decided to search records voluntarily turned over by Hillary and some of her former aides from private servers, as well as records collected by the FBI during their investigations, but figured it wasn't necessary to search the one place where all official communications on such a topic should have been housed from the beginning: State Department servers.

For whatever reason, State has continually refused to conduct the search of its taxpayer funded servers going on two and a half years now. Luckily, some small bit of rational thought prevailed yesterday when a U.S. District Judge filed an order demanding a search of State Department records for any and all Benghazi-related emails be completed by September 22, 2017.
