"Not Legal Tender"? City Refuses to Allow Man to Pay His $25 Parking Ticket with 2,500 Pennies

Since when are pennies and nickels not a form of legal tender in this country? Our Fed fiat money is still money. We aren't a fully cashless society... yet.

Justin Greene, a Pennsylvanian who attempted to protest what he felt was an unfair $25 parking ticket by paying for it with 2,500 pennies in Chambersburg, was told he couldn't because... federal law says the coins aren't legal tender.

Greene reportedly got the ticket for parking on the wrong side of the street for ten minutes when he went back to a job site to pick up some tools he left behind. To protest what he felt was an unfair situation, Greene showed up to pay his fine with thousands of pennies only to be told that a federal law says pennies and nickels are not legal tender for transactions over 25 cents.

Oh, wait, make that a repealed federal law from 50 years ago!

Animas River May Remain Toxic for Decades

Ever since the EPA accidentally dumped 3 million gallons of toxic mine water into the Animas River, Colorado authorities have been keen on reopening the river for public use as soon as possible. The river is a significant source of tourist income in the region, and they don’t want the toxic spill to put a damper on their summer.

Governor John Hickenlooper is one of those authorities, and he’s determined to prove that everything is back to normal. So on Tuesday, after being given the challenge by the Durango Herald, he decided to take a big gulp of river water for the cameras. After 24 hours, he reported that he was still in perfect health.

However, that hardly proves that the river is safe, at least in the long-term.

35 years served without conviction, man gets new trial

For more than 35 years, a Texas man has been in a prison even though an appeals court threw out his conviction on a 1976 murder charge that initially had him on death row.

On Monday, 59-year-old Jerry Hartfield will return to court for a retrial, facing a life sentence if convicted of killing a woman who sold tickets at a Bay City bus station.

Prosecutors and defense lawyers have haggled over who's to blame for decades of inaction and whether Hartfield's right to a speedy trial have been violated. But the trial judge has refused to dismiss Hartfield's indictment and prosecutors recently took the death penalty off the table, citing a 2002 U.S. Supreme Court ruling barring execution of mentally impaired people.

State Dept. confirms Clinton aides had other unreported email accounts

Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s top aides, used personal email accounts to conduct government business in addition to a State Department email and an account on the controversial server Mrs. Clinton kept at her New York home, the State Department confirmed to a federal court Friday.

The State Department admitted to the judge that it doesn’t have control over those documents, and can’t be sure it has all of the records from their time in the administration.

Labour is walking off cliff with its eyes shut, says Blair: He warns voters not to pick Corbyn 'even if you hate me' as 600,000 take part in leadership poll

Simon Danczuk was the latest MP to call for the contest to be stopped, claiming a quarter of members who have joined in his Rochdale constituency should be struck off. He told LBC Radio that if Mr Corbyn won, the party would face a civil war with many working to oust him ‘from day one, if not before’. Backbench MP Graham Stringer said the level of infiltration meant the election ‘has no credibility’.

Mr Blair spoke out last month to tell supporters whose hearts were with Mr Corbyn to ‘get a transplant’.

Last night he said: ‘The Labour Party is in danger more mortal today than at any point in the over 100 years of its existence. The leadership election has turned into something far more significant than who is the next leader. It is now about whether Labour remains a party of government.’

American cops wonder why Clinton not indicted for alleged email fraud

The allegations against Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that she had at least two top-secret classified information emails stored on her private server are the latest in a long and tedious process involving the Clinton family and their depiction of themselves as being victimized by Republicans, according to a growing number news reports on Thursday. And many American law enforcement officers are wondering why the Justice Department is dragging its feet to investigate and indict Mrs. Clinton when they regularly imprison Americans for the same types of alleged offenses.

Most Scientific Research of Western Medicine Untrustable & Fraudulent, Say Insiders and Experts

Fraudulent scientific research is rife throughout the world due to the power of monetary influence wielded by Big Pharma, the giant cartel of multinational pharmaceutical corporations started over 100 years ago by the Rockefellers. This fraudulent scientific research is now so widespread and pervasive it is become an open secret. There is a long list of medical journal editors, doctors and professors on the “outside”, former Big Pharma employees and executives on the “inside”, as well as government officials somewhere in between, who have stepped forward as whistleblowers and acknowledged the fraud. Money buys favorable research. Period. This is not really surprising, given the history of Rockefeller Western medicine and the fact that Big Pharma’s business model is based on “managing” disease, “treating” symptoms and keeping patients on the hamster wheel, rather than actually healing them completely.

Where did Hillary's personal emails go?

The Denver company tasked with managing Clinton's controversial email system believes there is "no useful data" left on the server it helped wipe clean, according to Barbara Wells, an attorney representing the firm.

"Platte River Networks does not have any data from the old server that is available on any of the servers or devices that they currently have in their control," Wells told the Washington Examiner.

But that data was "migrated" — or transferred electronically — onto another server around the summer of 2013, Wells noted. That server has not yet been identified.

Iraq war questions follow Bush to state fair

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's brother's legacy in the Iraq War continued to haunt his candidacy Friday, when he faced questions from an audience at the Iowa State Fair about his relationship to the policies of President George W. Bush.

Jeb Bush tried to spin the question away from his legacy as the son and brother of the last two Republican presidents, but he did so awkwardly.

Top secret Clinton emails include drone talk

The two emails on Hillary Rodham Clinton's private server that an auditor deemed "top secret" include a discussion of a news article detailing a U.S. drone operation and a separate conversation that could point back to highly classified material in an improper manner or merely reflect information collected independently, U.S. officials who have reviewed the correspondence told The Associated Press.

The sourcing of the information in the emails could have significant political implications as the 2016 presidential campaign heats up. Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, agreed this week to turn over to the FBI the private server she used as secretary of state, and Republicans in Congress have seized on the involvement of federal law enforcement as a sign that she was either negligent with the nation's secrets or worse.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Remember how Kenneth Starr distracted America from the real Whitewater scandal of government-sanctioned drug running with Monica Lewinsky and the stained blue dress?

That is what all this talk about satellites and drones is about, the "blue dress" to distract America from what happened at the Consulate in Benghazi, which is the reason Congress demanded Hillary's emails in the first place!

Congressional Democrats visiting Israel get earful about 'bad' Iran deal

Leaders of the pro-Israel lobby group The American Israel Public Affairs Committee could go home from Jerusalem to Washington this week with a deep sense of satisfaction that the visit they had arranged for a delegation of congressional Democrats was worth every cent. The 22 representatives were told by Israel’s top leadership that a tremendous majority of the Jewish Israeli public believes the agreement with Iran is wrong in its essence. They noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the Likud, opposition leaders Isaac Herzog and former prime ministerial candidate Tzipi Livni, both from the Zionist Camp, all told the Americans in no uncertain terms that this is a bad agreement. Not a problematic agreement, not controversial nor insufficient — a bad agreement, unacceptable, dangerous.

Corporate Media Crap Coverage of Sanders Is Norm

There are now articles about the predictable fluff BS horserace personality lifestyle crap coverage by the corporate media of the Bernie Sanders for president campaign (and articles about the predictable non-coverage of the Jill Stein for president campaign).

I wish it would all go away, as I think having no election would be preferable to holding such a broken one, and I'd limit even an open, free, credible, functioning, publicly-funded, fairly reported election to something under 6 months in duration.

But the Sanders coverage is actually far better, not worse, than I would have predicted. And its awfulness is par for the course, as is perhaps pointed out by this exchange I had recently with a reporter from Politico, who addressed me as Congressman Kucinich's former campaign manager, even though I never was that:

Ventura, who recounted the story Wednesday on his Ora.TV “Off the Grid” show, said the gift was ironic, since Bush supported the embargo.

Forest Service Official Who Let Nestle Drain California Water Now Works for Them

An ongoing investigation by The Desert Sun into Nestle’s contentious bottled water operations in drought-stricken California first disclosed that the company’s permit to draw water had a rather astonishing expiration date that occurred over a quarter century ago, in 1988. Recently, the Sun reported an update in the investigation with a jaw-dropping twist: the Forest Service — not Nestle — is the agency primarily responsible for failing to renew Nestle’s permit.

In fact, judging by the government agency’s complete inability to even review Nestle’s long-expired permit — not to mention the lucrative job a retired Forest Service supervisor currently enjoys — there is an arguable case that collusion and corruption are at the heart of the entire issue.

Hear Our Stories: Vaccines Are NOT Safe

We don’t have a communicable disease public health crises or low vaccination rates. And in fact, even if we did, we still don’t need vaccines to “prevent” those “diseases” – death from disease had already been virtually eliminated by the time most vaccines had arrived on the market; so really then, what we actually need to be focusing on here is death from disease, not getting the disease. Consider this: many of the people who wound up with measles at Disneyland had been vaccinated, and neither they nor those who were unvaccinated, died. So, is there a problem? No, not at all – it is a manufactured problem.

The Refugees Are Coming!!!

Palaces, theatres, railroads, hospitals and parks in that rich country are built on broken skeletons and restless specters, on lakes of blood and shameless theft.

Then, when one looted country after another begins to sink, when there is nothing left there, when children begin dying from hunger and when men commence fighting each other over tiny boulders and dirty pieces of turf, pathetic boats, or dinghies, begin crossing the waterways, bringing half starved, half-mad refugees to the European sea-fronts decorated with marble.

What a horrifying sight! As if a woman, her hair waving in disarray, her lips broken, comes begging a man who raped her after killing her husband – begging for shelter and at least some work and piece of bread. She decided to abandon all her pride, because her children are sick and starving, because it is either this, or death.

That is what you reduced the world to, Europe – you, and your huge, insatiable offspring – North America!

Tony Blair is again in the headlines, this time after Labour leadership frontrunner Jeremy Corbyn publicly voiced the opinion of millions of British citizens: that the former prime minister should stand trial on charges of war crimes if the evidence suggests that he broke international law during the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Ireland Won’t Extradite Terrorist, Because US Prisons Are Inhumane

Most Americans have grown up believing that our prisons are just cushy retreats for criminals, compared to the veritable gulags that most poor countries send their prisoners to. To some extent this is true. There are definitely other prison systems that are far more cruel than ours, but among the developed nations of the world, our prisons are apparently considered too “inhumane” by their standards.

That’s the conclusion that one Irish court has come to in the case of Ali Charaf Damache, who is an Algerian born Irish citizen. He was arrested in 2010 and served a 3 year prison sentence for making death threats against a Muslim critic of jihadis. However, he is still wanted in the US, and stands accused of trying to form a terror cell in Europe that could have attacked America. If sent to America he would likely be placed in solitary confinement in Colorado’s notorious ADX Florence supermax prison, for up to 45 years.
