The Tyrannical Mandate: Ministerial Discretion and Stripping Citizenship

“The reason why we have made this decision is because we have a very strong view: if you’ve left this country to join a terrorist army in the Middle East, we don’t want you.” These were Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s words in response to the Cabinet dissent that has characterised the debate about stripping Australian citizenship from those believed (though not necessarily known) to be terrorists.

MONSANTO PROTECTION ACT PART 2? NEW BILL INTRODUCED SPELLS BAD NEWS FOR GMO ACTIVISTS

A couple of years ago, a bill was introduced (H.R. 933) allowing big biotech corporations, like Monsanto, to override United States federal courts on the issue of planting experimental genetically engineered crops all across the US. This rendered the government powerless when it came to stopping other biotechnology corporations from planting and harvesting. The measure shields sellers of genetically modified seeds from lawsuits, even if the resulting crops cause harm. As a result, the public labelled this bill “The Monsanto Protection Act.”

With never-before-seen documents accompanied by new reporting on Monday, The Intercept's Glenn Greenwald and Andrew Fishman are offering a more in-depth look than ever into how a secretive unit of the UK's GCHQ surveillance agency used a host of psychological methods and online subterfuge in order to manipulate the behavior of individuals and groups through the internet and other digital forms of communication.

Whoops! Nobody verified Clinton Foundation a legal charity

Along with filing financial reports filled with errors and misstatements, “Big Four” accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers neglected to verify whether the Clinton Foundation obtained tax-exempt status for its various sub-entities, including its AIDS charity, contends respected Wall Street analyst Charles Ortel.

As WND has reported, Ortel’s six-month investigation indicates the Clintons have diverted tens millions of dollars donated for charitable purposes to the personal enrichment of themselves and their close associates.

He says PWC neglected to exercise due diligence in fulfilling its professional responsibilities in conducting even the most basic inquiries required of an honest audit.

1984 Arrives Thirty Years Late: Say Goodby to Privacy Forever if This Bill Passes

Legislation called “The Student Right to Know Before You Go Act” has been introduced in both houses of Congress. Nice name, no? Don’t you think you should have “the right to know before you go” to a college or university?

What it really means is that the federal government will:

authorize the creation of a federal database of all college students, complete with their personally identifiable information, tracking them through college and into the workforce, including their earnings, Social Security numbers, and more. The ostensible purpose of the bill? To provide better consumer information to parents and students so they can make “smart higher education investments.”

Bankers Think They Have an Ethical Duty to Steal From Taxpayers

Ed Kane, a professor of finance at Boston College, studies the dangerous risk-taking of giant banks. He sees the cultures of Wall Street and regulators coming together to turn taxpayers into victims of theft and great harm. Like extreme drunk drivers before MADD or smokers on airplanes prior to the 1980s ban, megabankers currently get away with endangering others with little fear of repercussions. Kane discusses how changes in corporate law and culture must make it legally and socially unacceptable for bankers to blow their toxic fumes at the rest of us.

“Sentence First, Verdict Afterwards”: The Alice in Wonderland World of Fast-tracked Secret Trade Agreements

While the deals are being negotiated, lawmakers can see their terms only under the strictest secrecy, and they can be subjected to criminal prosecution for revealing those terms. What we know of them comes only through WikiLeaks. The agreements are being treated as if they were a matter of grave national security, yet they are not about troop movements or military strategy. Something else is obviously going on.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do not consider myself bound by a treaty (or any other obligation) not approved of by all of the people, and by that I do NOT mean that grand asylum for the aged and inform on Capitol Hill, but We The People. If treaties are the highest law of the land they deserve the highest scrutiny and review by the public before passage.

Australian prime minister launches new attack on democratic rights

The degree of lawlessness at the centre of the Australian government’s proposals to strip away the citizenship rights of those accused of fighting with, or supporting, terrorists overseas—and the implications for democratic rights more broadly—have been underscored by remarks of Prime Minister Tony Abbott attacking the right of an accused person to a trial.

Merck, Other Pharma Companies Helped Fund Activist Groups Who Petitioned the EPA to Regulate Nano-Silver as a Pesticide

Last year it was revealed that a handful of the activist agencies behind the petition to the EPA to regulate nano-silver as a pesticide received funding from pharmaceutical giant Merck, which annually has hundreds of billions of dollars in profits from patented antibioics which many believe are less effective, less safe and far more expensive than colloidal nano-silver products.

Further investigation by this reporter discovered that the initial revelations were just the tip of the iceberg when it came Merck and other pharmaceutical companies' funding of the groups who supported the EPA's regulation of nano-silver.

Obama admits: Obamacare website 'disaster'

President Obama made a somewhat shocking admission, given his tendency to divert blame from his own White House – even to the point where the lagging economy has been painted as George W. Bush’s fault several years into the current administration – and said his Obamacare website has proven disastrous.

Two faces of Hillary: Harassment reports tripled at Clinton, Kerry State Dept.

While presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton claims the U.S. State Department was successful in achieving its tasks under her direction, it appears that once again the former First Lady and Senator is exaggerating her successes during her tenure as Secretary of State. On the campaign trail, the woman who believes there is still gender inequality and continued bullying of woman in America, is remaining silent about a new report that tells voters a different story about her fighting for women's rights. For example, reported incidents of sexual harassment at the State Department have almost tripled under both Secretary Clinton and current Secretary John Kerry, according to an inspector general's report released in the month of June.

New emails show possible Benghazi deception by Hillary Clinton, Obama admin

Congress released nearly 200 pages of newly uncovered emails involving former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, raising questions Monday about whether the Obama administration and the Democratic presidential candidate herself were truthful when they said they turned over all of her email communications on Benghazi.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, chairman of the select House committee looking into the 2012 terrorist attack in Libya, demanded the State Department say whether it has the emails — a way of testing whether the administration withheld them against the wishes of the committee, or whether Mrs. Clinton never turned them over in the first place, contradicting her public statements.

Mr. Gowdy gave the department a deadline of the end of the day Monday.

Senator Pan's Outrageous Vaccine Lies

By Catherine J. Frompovich

Nothing is more disappointing, and even disgusting, than to see someone who obviously should know better, especially a duly-licensed professional, make a verifiable dumb ass out of himself. That’s one thing, but when it cascades back on to others, well that’s a totally different story.

Rep. Gohmert: Obama Outed Active Israeli Iranian Spy Mission

United States Congressman Louie Gohmert revealed Thursday that the Obama administration had “outed” an active Israeli spy mission in Iran. Israel, he said, had infiltrated Israeli spies into mainland Iran via cargo boats.

He dropped the bombshell in a speech at EMET’s 9th annual “Rays of Light in the Darkness” gala dinner.

Rep. Gohmert, who is one Israel’s fiercest and truest friends on Capitol Hill, stated: “We are on the brink of disaster.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The penalty? The banks have agreed to pay $5.5 billion. That may sound like a big chunk of change, but for a giant bank it’s the cost of doing business. In fact, the banks are likely to deduct the fines from their taxes as business costs.

The banks sound contrite. After all, they can’t have the public believe they’re outright crooks.

Edward Griffin, author of “The Creature from Jekyll Island,” says the global monetary system is out of control. Griffin contends, “There is nothing that can be done about it. This thing is a runaway machine. I would feel much better if these political figures would say hey, this is out of our control right now. We need a substantial change in the system. . . . We need more honesty. People have to stand up and say we are in for a tough time. There is no easy way out of this. We are in for a tough time. Hang on to your seatbelts. We are coming into the rapids now. We need that kind of honesty, but we are not getting it because most of these guys and gals in Washington are thinking well, it’s going to be bad, but at least I’m in a good spot. Sisi appoints Egypt's new ambassador to Israel

Egypt’s former envoy to the Arab League has been appointed as the country’s new ambassador to Israel.

According to a Sunday report by Egyptian state news agency MENA, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi named Hazem Khairat (seen below) as Cairo’s new ambassador to Tel Aviv.

Khairat formerly served as Egypt’s deputy foreign minister and also as the country’s ambassador to the South American country of Chile.

No information has been revealed on the exact date of the start of Khairat’s mission, but reports said that he will most probably be dispatched to Israel in September.

Sisi’s decision came three years after Egypt’s ousted president, Mohamed Morsi, recalled Atef Salem, Cairo’s last ambassador to Tel Aviv, to protest against the regime’s eight-day aggression against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip. Since then, the Egyptian embassy in Israel has had no top representative.

Trapping Russia to Prove a Negative

The prove-a-negative trap is the Big Lie technique of Nazi propagandist Josef Goebbels: there is no substance to the allegations and there is no obligation to present evidence to verify, thanks to the dutiful and unquestioning nature of Western corporate “journalism”.

The United States and its Western allies are trying to ensnare Russia in an audacious disinformation trap over the Ukraine conflict. That trap involves imposing an insoluble conundrum on Vladimir Putin’s government, which we might call “prove a negative”. It is a familiar conceptual device that Washington has used elsewhere, against Iraq and Iran for example, in order to pursue what are otherwise illegitimate geopolitical aims.Russia is being held up as the guilty party that is undermining the shaky Minsk ceasefire; and Western economic sanctions are being extended “until Russia implements the ceasefire”.
