Scott Walker Targets Jeb Bush

Scott Walker Targets Jeb Bush in South Carolina Speech
***
“From our family, we didn’t inherit fame or fortune, what we inherited was the belief that if you work hard and you play by the rules you can do and be anything you want,” he said.
***
...In South Carolina, he offered a subtle corrective, noting that he is headed to Israel later today and assuring the audience — which was full of military service-members and their families — that he cares about national security as much as anyone.

Walker said he prefers to use the term “safety,” rather than national security.
“National security is something you read about in the newspaper; safety is something you feel,” he said. “It’s something that — even though as a governor I don’t deal with it day in and day out — it has increasingly become one of the most important things for me to focus in on, because when I think about safety, I think about my own children and I think about yours as well.”
***
Walker exited to another enthusiastic standing ovation

Jeb Bush Courts Christian Conservatives In Commencement Speech

Charging that "the Christian voice" isn't heard enough in the world, the Republican White House prospect lashed out at the Democratic president's administration for "demanding obedience in complete disregard of religious conscience."

"The present administration is supporting the use of coercive federal power. What should be easy calls in favor of religious freedom have instead become an aggressive stance against it," Bush told an estimated 34,000 gathered for a graduation ceremony.

"Somebody here is being small-minded and intolerant, and it sure isn't the nuns, ministers, and laymen and women who ask only to live and practice their faith," he said.

UK electoral system: Free & fair?

The British establishment has witnessed a sharp decline in voter turnout during the past three decades, and the upcoming General Election is no exception. Many social and political analysts translate the decline as public growing disenchantment with the establishment. They warn if this trend continues, the low turnout will sooner or later threaten the legitimacy of the elected government. But what are the underlying causes of the British voter apathy and their political disengagement?

Cameron back in No 10 looks like bad news for Middle East peace

The closest fought UK General Election for many years has produced an unexpected victory for David Cameron and the Conservative Party. With predictions of a hung parliament built around Westminster fears of a tartan invasion by Scottish National Party MPs, the result of a clearly failing first-past-the-post electoral system is likely to fuel calls for electoral reform. Millions of votes for minority parties were, to all intents and purposes, wasted. This, though, is not the only negative aspect of the poll. It is bad news all round for peace in the Middle East, and the first to feel the effects will be Britain's 2-million Muslim citizens.

Farewell to the United Kingdom - Let It Bleed

The British General election was dramatic. On the superficial level because three party leaders— Miliband (Labour), Nick Clegg (Liberal-Democrat) and Nigel Farage (UKIP—a racist, right-wing populist outfit)…resigned on the day following the Conservative victory. On a more fundamental level because the Scottish National Party took virtually all the Scottish seats (56 of 59) wiping out Labour as a political force in the region where it had dominated politics for over a century. Scotland was where the Labour Party was founded. Scotland it was that gave Labour its first leaders and Prime Minster (as well as the last one). Scottish working class culture was in most cases much more radical than its English equivalent.

PMO enlists soldiers as propaganda tools: Toronto Star Editorial

Stephen Harper’s surprise trip to visit battle zones in Iraq and Kuwait last weekend held all the promise of a touchdown to boost the prime minister’s goal of appearing tough on terror and supportive of our troops.

That is, until the Prime Minister’s Office fumbled the ball, putting Canadian soldiers at risk by enlisting them as publicity props for blatantly partisan video clips.

It was a dangerous and shameful manoeuvre.

Mel Hurtig’s wake-up call for Canada’s democracy

“Through decades of sounding the alarm on (foreign) takeovers,” he says in the book’s introduction, “I never imagined that the greatest threat would come from the takeover of our democratic institutions by one politician determined to remake our nation according to his own values and priorities.”

Hurtig writes that “not only does Stephen Harper demonstrate a lack of respect for the democratic foundations of our nation, all indications are that he is determined to undermine or destroy them. Information is withheld, dissent is stifled and the checks and balances on government power are eroded or eliminated.”

The Prison Gates Swing Open for Peace Activists

Kathy Kelly is just out of prison, where she'd been sent for nonviolently opposing drone murders.

An appeals court has just overturned convictions for Megan Rice, Michael Walli and Gregory Boertje-Obed, imprisoned for entering and protesting a nuclear weapons site at Oak Ridge, Tenn., three years ago. Resentencing on lesser charges, and quite possibly immediate release, is expected.

Today’s Victory Day celebrations in Moscow mark a turning point in Russian history

Today is truly a historical day. For the first time ever the West has boycotted the Victory Day Parade in Moscow and, also for the first time ever, Chinese forces have marched on the Beautiful Square (“Red” square is a mistranslation – the “Red Square” ought be called the “Beautiful Square”) with the Russians. I believe that this is a profoundly symbolic shift and one which makes perfectly good sense.

Some advice for Pamela Geller

So, Pam, please change your ways. They are more than just hateful, bitter, and despicable. They're simply not working. Obscenely Wealthy Republican Congressman Kicks The Poor While They’re Down

Will Central Banks Abolish Cash?

By Mark Nestmann

Cash has never been a popular asset with the totalitarian set. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to trace. Cash makes it possible to do business “off the books.”

For decades, with the US leading the effort, governments have engaged in a War on Cash. The original justification for this war was to fight racketeering. The War on Cash morphed into the War on Drugs, then the War on Money Laundering, and subsequently, the War on Terror.

But now, central banks and their lackey governments have a new rationale for the War on Cash: the very existence of cash makes it more difficult to enforce negative interest rates...

Israel's safety belt: the US Christian Right pushes new anti-BDS initiative

Tennessee's General Assembly formally condemned the Palestinian-led Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) campaign, the first US state legislature to do so. Joint Resolution 170 was approved 93-1 by the House of Representatives, following a 30-0 vote in the state Senate.

The resolution calls BDS "one of the main vehicles for spreading anti-Semitism", describing it as "inherently antithetical and deeply damaging to the causes of peace, justice, equality, democracy and human rights for all the peoples in the Middle East."

The vote, which carries no legal weight, was celebrated by pro-Israel campaigners such as StandWithUs co-founder Roz Rothstein, who tweeted "oh happy day."

Christie’s Administration Is Facing Another Investigation

If after last week’s Bridgegate indictments you thought Chris Christie was finally done as the focus of government investigations, think again. The Republican governor’s administration in New Jersey is facing a whole new inquiry—this one involving hundreds of millions of dollars, and not just blocked-off bridge lanes.

At issue are the fees being paid by New Jersey’s beleaguered public pension system to Wall Street firms. In recent years, Christie’s officials have shifted more of the retirement savings of teachers, firefighters, police officers and other public workers into the hands of private financial firms. That has substantially increased the management fees paid by taxpayers to those firms. Indeed, while Christie says the pension system cannot afford to maintain current retirement benefits, pension fees paid to financial firms have quadrupled to $600 million a year—or $1.5 billion in total since he took office in 2010.

Britain – No longer “Great” but Doomed to Another Five Years of Pain and “Austerity”

My heart bleeds, my soul is sick and my land is broken and dying. How else can I describe how I felt when I learnt that the dis-United Kingdom was back in the greedy and unfeeling grasp of the ‘nasty’ party, the Conservatives. I was not alone.

“I was quite happy this morning – until I saw a newspaper on my way to work… I hope to God my children end up living abroad,” was one acquaintance’s reaction, her face still shocked hours later.

Caught On Tape: Stunned Reporter Grills State Department Why Hillary's Breaches Won't Be Investigated

Specifically, as Reuters reported, Clinton had promised the federal government that the Clinton Foundation and its associated charities would name all donors annually while she was the nation's top diplomat. "She also promised that the charities would let the State Department's ethics office review beforehand any proposed new foreign governments donations."

In March, the charities confirmed to Reuters for the first time that they had not complied with those pledges for most of Clinton's four years at the State Department.

The implication is that foreigners banned from donating to U.S. political campaigns could and likely did curry favor with her by giving to the charity that bears her name.

Caught On Tape: Stunned Reporter Grills State Department Why Hillary's Breaches Won't Be Investigated

The most shocking development took place yesterday when the US State Department, via spokesman Jeff Rathke, told reporters that while it "regrets" that it did not get to review the new foreign government funding, it does not plan to look into the matter further, spokesman Jeff Rathke said on Thursday. "The State Department has not and does not intend to initiate a formal review or to make a retroactive judgment about items that were not submitted during Secretary Clinton's tenure," Rathke told reporters. And while the "unbiased" media kept its mouth shut, on person who did speak up was AP's Matt Lee who asked why the State Department wouldn't investigate further to determine if the tens of millions of dollars in donations had influenced her decisions while she was SecState.

Congress Tells Court That Congress Can’t Be Investigated for Insider Trading

In a little-noticed brief filed last summer, lawyers for the House of Representatives claimed that an SEC investigation of congressional insider trading should be blocked on principle, because lawmakers and their staff are constitutionally protected from such inquiries given the nature of their work. The legal team led by Kerry W. Kircher, who was appointed House General Counsel by Speaker John Boehner in 2011, claimed that the insider trading probe violated the separation of powers between the legislative and executive branch.

V-DAY: Russia’s Perpetual Fight Against Fascism

70 years since the great Victory! 70 years since Soviet people saved the world by smashing Nazism.

All accords with Russia were broken, whenever it suited invaders. The Scandinavians wiped out countless Russian lives, and so did the Germans, French, Poles, Brits, North Americans and Czechs, to name just a few. Russians never really ‘punished’ anybody, in the Protestant, Anglo-Saxon way. Punishment is mainly puritan, Protestant rubbish; the Russian way of thinking is too quixotic for that.

The West lied to Lenin, to Stalin, to Khrushchev and finally to Gorbachev. The West has been lying to Putin and about Putin.

Jade Helm:Some Thoughts From Army ATC and Friends

by ArmyATC » Sat Apr 04, 2015 3:16 pm
A lot of people are trying to decode what jade Helm means. But very few are looking at the second line , which is the overall mission objective.

In combat ops there are 5 phases of combat. I'm not going to go into detail, but you can find it. But phase 0 operations are relatively new. In the NDAA 2014, if you read through it, it provides increasing the budget for phase 0 operation.

What this is. Well this has to do with using infiltration techniques to identify who will be a problem BEFORE the fighting begins. Identifying individuals and groups that would be assessed by the military as possible non state actors.

That way, they can extract these individuals before ops begin thus severely limiting organized resistance.

How Big Money and Big Brother won the British Elections

The Conservatives have won the 2015 elections with a slim majority. Labour and the Liberal Democrats suffered unexpected crushing defeats, prompting their leaders, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg, to resign. And despite winning a significant percentage of votes, UKIP only managed to win one seat, with its leader Nigel Farage also resigning after losing to a Tory MP.

But the Tory victory reveals precisely why British democracy is broken.

The ultimate determinant of which party won the elections was the money behind their political campaigns?—?the winning and losing parties correlate directly with the quantity of funding received. Yet there is also compelling evidence of another factor?—?interference from Britain’s security services.

McRaven: Success in Human Domain Fundamental to Special Ops

While special operations forces are comfortable in the realms of traditional warfare, the human domain is perhaps more important -- both to the troops and to policy makers, McRaven said.

The human domain encompasses the totality of the physical, cultural, and social environments that influence human behavior, he explained. Success in this domain won't be achieved by traditional ground, naval or air forces, he added.

“Instead, success in the human domain will depend upon understanding the human terrain and establishing trust with those humans who occupy that space,” the admiral said. Building understanding and trust takes time, but once it’s built, “we can apply unique capabilities that are designed to assess, analyze, operate and prevail in population-centric strategies or struggles,” he said.

Human Terrain System

The Human Terrain System (HTS) is a United States Army, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) support program employing personnel from the social science disciplines – such as anthropology, sociology, political science, regional studies and linguistics – to provide military commanders and staff with an understanding of the local population (i.e. the "human terrain") in the regions in which they are deployed

A Brief Overview Of ABI And Human Domain Analytics

In Iraq, the Intelligence Community was tasked with finding terrorists and insurgents bent on harming US Forces and their interests. These terrorists or insurgents rarely performed activities that were dissimilar from non-terrorists (especially in the planning phases). In terms of Iraqi mysteries, the questions were “Will something happen?” and “How can we predict it and prevent it?” Analysts began to develop techniques to address these mysteries using any means at their disposal to aggregate these activities, assess transactions, and develop networks of interest.

Thinking Differently: Unlocking the Human Domain in Support of the 21st Century Intelligence Mission

People are the currency of the human domain; their visible behaviors and symbols are one of the only ways to really discern their thoughts and motivations. Add in the cultural complexity of differing worldviews, beliefs and values that play on those thoughts and motivations and the domain becomes even less certain to decode. Factor in that U.S. military and civilian personnel directly, and indirectly, influence the course of interactions and behavior in the domain and the human domain becomes incredibly layered and dense, where meaning and purpose is difficult to extract and effort and skill necessary for success within the domain difficult to master.

The most recent example of this that has made national headlines is particularly egregious. Joe and Nicole Naugler of Breckinridge County, Kentucky just had their 10 children brutally ripped away from them just because the government does not approve of how they are living their lives and how they are educating their young ones. Let’s be very clear about this – Joe and Nicole had done nothing to violate the law whatsoever. All of their kids were happy, healthy and very intelligent. But because the control freaks running things in Kentucky got wind of their “off the grid lifestyle”, they have now had all of their children unlawfully abducted from them.

Saudi farm spend 'an opportunity'

Spending millions of dollars on a Saudi businessman's farm was not "compensation" paid to clear the way for a free trade deal, officials say.

Foreign Minister Murray McCully said a push for a regional trade deal was a key consideration when investing in the farm, but there would be no deal if it did not provide a sound opportunity for Kiwi companies.

New Zealand spent $6 million to help establish a demonstration farm near Dammam, in eastern Saudi Arabia, saying it would be used to showcase New Zealand's agricultural technology.

Almost 1000 breeding ewes were air-freighted from New Zealand to the farm owned by businessman Sheikh Hamood Al Ali Khalaf.

His Sydney-based business partner, George Assaf, told One News this week the fit-out was done to "compensate" the pair for New Zealand's ban on live sheep exports for slaughter. The 2009 ban had cost them hundreds of millions of dollars and the fallout was a reason for a stalled free trade agreement.

Labour penalties target non-voters

Labour has proposed withholding state support such as tax credits and Working For Families from people who are not enrolled to vote.

The measure could be justified if it lifts New Zealand's low voter turnout, the party says.

Getting the vote out is a priority for Labour and in its submission to the Justice and Electoral Select Committee, written by Labour's general secretary Tim Barnett, the party argues for the idea to be considered.

"The possibility of making enrolment to vote a pre-condition to receipt of various forms of state support (eg Working For Families, tax credits) should be examined," Labour's submission states.
