Hunger-Striking Detainee Tests Obama’s Will to Close Guantánamo

Since the age of 23, Tariq Ba-Odah has been detained at the U.S. prison facility at Guantánamo Bay. Never charged with a crime, Ba-Odah went on hunger strike eight years ago to protest his indefinite detention, as well as the brutal treatment he is alleged to have suffered at the hands of his captors.

Obama’s Stupid Blame-Iran Game

President Obama always bows to Official Washington’s conventional wisdom no matter how wrongheaded it is – and then either falls in line behind some reckless neocon policy prescription or turns away just before falling off some geopolitical cliff. His continued Iran-bashing is a case in point, says Gareth Porter at Middle East Eye.

Jimmy Carter Has Cancer

“In ‘A Full Life,’ Jimmy Carter at 90 remains a wise truth teller”.

His announcement was candid and truthful.

The cancer first identified in his liver, has “spread to other parts of his body”. He expects to hang around for a while; his travel schedule is only cut back, not canceled. How long will a “while” last? We will just have to wait and see.

The pending freedom of both Israelis and Palestinians from the bondage of conflict, owes a great deal to this man.

The brothers who funded Blair, Israeli settlements and Islamophobia

Tony Blair is again in the headlines, this time after Labour leadership frontrunner Jeremy Corbyn publicly voiced the opinion of millions of British citizens: that the former prime minister should stand trial on charges of war crimes if the evidence suggests that he broke international law during the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Blair's conduct since leaving office has received less scrutiny, however. Our investigations show that while Blair was serving as the special Middle East peace envoy of the Quartet, representing the UN, Russia, US and EU, the American fundraising arm of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation accepted money from a family that finances illegal Israeli settlements via the earnings of a convicted felon.

Ireland Won’t Extradite Terrorist, Because US Prisons Are Inhumane

Most Americans have grown up believing that our prisons are just cushy retreats for criminals, compared to the veritable gulags that most poor countries send their prisoners to. To some extent this is true. There are definitely other prison systems that are far more cruel than ours, but among the developed nations of the world, our prisons are apparently considered too “inhumane” by their standards.

That’s the conclusion that one Irish court has come to in the case of Ali Charaf Damache, who is an Algerian born Irish citizen. He was arrested in 2010 and served a 3 year prison sentence for making death threats against a Muslim critic of jihadis. However, he is still wanted in the US, and stands accused of trying to form a terror cell in Europe that could have attacked America. If sent to America he would likely be placed in solitary confinement in Colorado’s notorious ADX Florence supermax prison, for up to 45 years.

Diana Kim grew up on the Island of Maui where her father was a photographer, which is where she first learned her trade. When her parents split, Kim began to live with friends and relatives, and she lost touch with her father who became “absent.” In 2003 Kim began a long-term photo-project about the homeless; in 2012, she made a shocking discovery. Kim found her father among the homeless she was documenting in Honolulu.

UN Says “Too Soon For Syria Peace Conference” So Long As ISIS Gains Ground

By Brandon Turbeville

In late July, as ISIS’ gains across Syria were televised all over Western media, the United Nations publicly announced that it was too soon for another Syrian peace conference.

The UN position was no doubt confusing to many half-cognizant observers since the United Nations is typically the loudest voice calling for peace talks (oftentimes half-heartedly) in any given confrontation. This time, however, the UN has thrown up its hands and essentially declared “it’s no use!”...

Exclusive: Jeb Bush Linked to Drug Cartels, Money Laundering

While Jeb’s brother, George W. Bush, glossed over his AWOL status with the Texas Air National Guard, Jeb does not have a military record to defend but he does have a CIA employment record to fess up to.

Jeb’s early work in Venezuela and south Florida is much more troubling than Dubya pretending to be on active duty in Texas while he was actually off in Alabama helping a GOP U.S. Senate campaign and getting sloppy drunk in redneck bars. Jeb should fully explain his relationship with Alberto Duque, a Colombian national who laundered drug money for the Medellin and Cali narco-cartels and Nicaraguan contras while serving as owner of City National Bank of Miami and president of the General Coffee Company of Colombia.

Apparently, there was more than coffee arriving in sacks of coffee coming into Miami from Colombia. Duque financed a $30 million real estate development project run by Jeb Bush.

Released Hillary Clinton Emails Reveal... She Was Reading A Book On How To Delete Emails

As I’ve said many times before, the best part about Hillary Clinton running for President, is that she’s so unbelievably corrupt and shady, not a week goes by without a new scandal or embarrassment. It makes the insulting charade of U.S. elections at least somewhat comical.

In the latest gaffe, we learn (through her own emails), that she asked to borrow a book titled, Send: Why People Email So Badly and How to Do It Better.” Chapter Six of this book is titled, “The Email That Can Land You In Jail,” which includes a section titled: “How to Delete Something So It Stays Deleted.”

You can’t make this stuff up.

Palestine and Free Speech: The University of Illinois’ Decision to Fire Prof. Steven Salaita on Behalf of the Israel Lobby

Steven Salaita is a renowned academic in the field of Native American Studies. That is why the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) hired him in 2013 as a tenured associate professor in the American Indian Studies Program. Salaita resigned from his previous position and had every reason to believe that he was on his way to Illinois. However he was terminated on August 1, 2014.

In the summer of 2014 Israel was in the midst of a murderous campaign in Gaza which killed more than 2,000 people, including 500 children. Steven Salaita is a Palestinian-American and like millions of people he vented anger and outrage as the horrific war crime continued. His posts on twitter garnered the attention of the administration and donors at the University of Illinois and he was fired before he even began working.

Judge orders Clinton to preserve all records; she misses deadline to certify compliance

One federal judge has now ordered former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and her top aides to preserve all of records from their time in the administration, while another judge is trying to get to the bottom of how the government is deciding what classified information was included in those messages.

A flurry of court filings over the last week have only heightened the political perils to Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign, and the practical problems President Obama’s team faces as it tries to grapple with the mess Mrs. Clinton’s unique email arrangement left behind.

Hillary Clinton Now Under Criminal Investigation by FBI and Department of Justice

The Democratic Party’s ‘shoe-in’ for President in 2016 could actually be in serious trouble now. It appears that Hillary Clinton is now myred in what could potentially be multiple criminal investigations into top-secret classified documents which she had erased from her private Clinton Foundation home-based email server.

Will this latest Clinton scandal accelerate to ultimately derail her presidential bid?

Webmaster's Commentary:

Maybe not. Don't forget that it was the FBI and Justice Department that covered up the Clintons' involvement with Iran-Contra gun and drug running, and the murder of White House Deputy Council Vincent Foster.

Memorandum of Law lays bare the hoax that is the Internal Revenue Code

Enjoying a monopoly as they do, today’s banks “loan” computer-keypad keystroke entries of digits, called “credit” (modern equivalent of the Bank of England’s hollow promissory notes), at no cost to themselves. As explained by the senior government banking official, then-Secretary of the Treasury Robert B. Anderson:

“[W]hen a bank makes a loan, it simply adds to the borrower’s deposit account in the bank by the amount of the loan. This money is not taken from anyone else’s deposit; it was not previously paid in to the bank by anyone. It’s new money, created by the bank for the use of the borrower.”[6]

Though transparency was a cause he championed when campaigning for the presidency, President Obama has largely avoided making certain defense costs known to the public. However, when it comes to military appropriations for government spy agencies, we know from Freedom of Information Act requests that the so-called “black budget” is an increasingly massive expenditure subsidized by American taxpayers. The CIA and and NSA alone garnered $52.6 billion in funding in 2013 while the Department of Defense black ops budget for secret military projects exceeds this number. It is estimated to be $58.7 billion for the fiscal year 2015.

In 2010, a 14-year-old Huntsville girl was approached by school officials who wanted to use her as bait in a “sting operation.” The plan was to use the young girl to catch a boy in the act who’d been accused of sexually harassing students. However, their asinine plan backfired, and this innocent young girl was anally raped by the older student. The plan was for the girl not to do anything and teachers would burst in and catch the boy with a girl in the bathroom, but the boy changed bathroom locations. The girl, known in court records as BHJ, was not found by the incompetent school officials until after the student raped her.

Hidden American History,Delusional Leaders and The Kali Yuga

The Opium Trade

I did not know that the Delano family, as in President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, made their fortune by dealing opium in China. Opium funded/built the British Empire and was one of “the critical engines of the era.” In India, the East India Company had control over “one million Indian opium farmers.” Many, as they love to say ‘old money’ east coast families who now consider themselves the ‘blue-bloods’ of America, originally made their fortunes in the opium trade. Warren Delano was one.

Labour is going to cancel some supporters’ leadership votes after they've been cast

Labour has been criticised for saying it will cancel the leadership election votes of supporters after they have been cast.

Party officials have said they will continue their drive to root out supporters of other groups, even after voting has begun this weekend.

But there are worries the approach could leave some room for foul play – especially with an insurgent candidate opposed by many in the party’s establishment set to do well.

Fetal Parts Sold for "Scientific Research" on Cosmetics, Flavor Enhancers

A largely horrified public has watched five videos on the selling of aborted babies—sacrificed to the gods of “scientific research.” The heartless defenders of their dismemberment for profit, claim that it contributes to “life-saving research.”

Aside from the fact that scientific experimentation on murder victims is immoral, realize also that this is not just about real science. Aborted babies have been used for such things as testing flavor enhancers for food companies and creating anti-aging creams. Developing products such as cosmetics and flavor enhancers are to science as lemon drops and potato chips are to fruits and vegetables.

The Two Core Beliefs of the Republican Party

One core Republican belief is spread by religious fundamentalists, and it’s a conviction to do war against others by outpopulating them — reproducing more than the other humans do. Part of this is their campaign for fertilized human eggs (the one-celled zygotes of homo sapiens) to become legally declared to be beings who have the same Constitutional protections that their sentient mothers do — beings who have thoughts, emotions, and preferences; pain, pleasure, sorrow, and joy; and thus rights.

Iran Deal: Will Israel and Republican America Force the US to Back Out?

While not exactly the same, the framework of this agreement is fairly similar to the recent (July 2015) deal that the P5+1 agreed with Iran (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPA). In essence both agreements placed a restriction on nuclear activity in return for relief from trade sanctions. However while the DPRK accepted and adhered to their side of the agreement, the US never successfully completed any of the promises that were made, failing to construct a single LWR (construction did not begin until August of 2002 and was halted indefinitely by late-2002, even though the scheduled completion date was 2003), failing to deliver fuel as promised and failing to ease any of the trade sanctions that had been in place since the Korean War.

6 Reasons You Can't Trust Science Anymore

The scientific method -- make an observation, form a hypothesis, test your prediction, obtain data -- is the cornerstone of science, right up there with dramatically removing your glasses and exclaiming, "My god ..." But modern science has added a step you didn't learn about in third grade: publish your results. Publication is an important way for scientists to share research and advance their careers. Here's how it's destroying science.

After months of denials and delaying actions, Hillary Clinton has decided to turn over her private email server to the Department of Justice. As this controversy has grown since the spring, Clinton and her campaign operatives have repeatedly denied that she had placed classified information in her personal emailwhile serving as Secretary of State during President Obama’s first term. (“I am confident that I never sent nor received any information that was classified at the time it was sent and received,” she said last month.) Her team also denied that she would ever hand over her server to investigators. Now both those assertions have been overturned.
