LITERARY MAGAZINES FOR SOCIALISTS FUNDED BY THE CIA, RANKED

In May of 1967, a former CIA officer named Tom Braden published a confession in the Saturday Evening Post under the headline, “I’m glad the CIA is ‘immoral.’” Braden confirmed what journalists had begun to uncover over the previous year or so: The CIA had been responsible for secretly financing a large number of “civil society” groups, such as the National Student Association and many socialist European unions, in order to counter the efforts of parallel pro-Soviet organizations. “[I]n much of Europe in the 1950’s,” wrote Braden, “socialists, people who called themselves ‘left’—the very people whom many Americans thought no better than Communists—were about the only people who gave a damn about fighting Communism.”

CARBON-CREDIT SCHEME LINKED TO INCREASED GREENHOUSE-GAS PRODUCTION

Production of trifluoromethane (HFC-23) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) increased at some Russian factories after a carbon-credit scheme was introduced. Factories in Russia increased their production of industrial waste products and then claimed millions of carbon credits for destroying them after an international trading scheme went into effect.

Trump Top But Sanders Surges As Hillary 'Hope' Hammered In New Hampshire

A stunning 78% of Democrats in New Hampshire view Bernie Sanders favorably in the latest polls. As The Hill reports, Hillary Clinton was viewed favorably by that percentage in April, but that has dropped 15 percentage points among Democrats. With Sanders topping Clinton by a 44 to 37 percent margin (VP Joe Biden garnered 9%), and Trump support among Republicans at 35%, it appears serial lying is not paying off for the Oligarchy (for now)...

US lawmaker asks military aid to ‘Israel’ be halted

In a letter to the State Department officials last week, Minnesota Representative Betty McCollum said the deaths of Nadeem Siam Nawara and Mohamed Mahmoud Odeh in May 2014 demonstrated the “brutal system of occupation that devalues and dehumanises Palestinian children.”

“It is time for a strong and unequivocal statement of US commitment to the human rights of Palestinian children living under Israeli occupation,” McCollum wrote in the August 18 letter, which was released to the public on Monday. - See more at: http://www.daysofpalestine.com/news/us-lawmaker-asks-military-aid-isra...

FLASHBACK 2005 - 'The Chosen': Getting In

A few years ago, I wrote a book about the rise of a new educated class, the people with 60's values and 90's money who go to Starbucks, shop at Whole Foods and drive Volvos. A woman came up to me after one of my book talks and said, "You realize what you're talking about is the Jews taking over America."

My eyes bugged out, but then I realized that she was Jewish and she knew I was, too, and between us we could acknowledge there's a lot of truth in that statement. For the Jews were the vanguard of a social movement that over the course of the 20th century transformed the American university system and the nature of the American elite.

Trump is Global Journalism’s American Junk Food

He’s everywhere.

Spray-tanned face and white teeth exploding through the front pages of newspapers and magazines. Implausible hair mesmerizing on Twitter and Facebook. Comments on female journalists and illegal Mexican immigrants echoing across the ether. It is likely that Donald Trump will be nothing more than an ephemeral political phenomenon, but he is still a phenomenon.

Toronto police G20 commander apologizes after being convicted of misconduct

The senior officer who ordered the “kettle” of people at the G20 summit five years ago has apologized after being found guilty of three of five charges related to his role in the largest mass arrests in Canadian peacetime history.

Supt. David (Mark) Fenton was convicted on two of three charges of exercising unlawful or unnecessary authority, and on one of two charges of discreditable conduct.

“He deeply regrets that some of those decisions led to the arrest of people who were not involved in the violence and that some people were held in the rain for hours,” Fenton’s lawyer Peter Brauti said in a statement.

“He would like to personally apologize to all those innocent parties that were negatively affected.”

Is This Black Monday Crash The BIG ONE? It Doesn’t Matter

Plenty amongst you will be talking about economic cycles, and opportunities, and debate how to ‘play’ the crash, but all this is useless if and when a market doesn’t function. And just about all markets in the richer part of the world stopped functioning when central banks started buying assets. That’s when you stopped being investors. And when market strategies stopped making sense.

Central banks will come up with more, much more, ‘stimulus’, but what China teaches us today is that we’re woefully close to the moment when central banks will lose the faith and trust of everyone. After injecting tens of billions of dollars in markets, which thereby ceased to function, the global economy is in a bigger mess then it was prior to QE. The whole thing is one big bubble now, and we know what invariably happens to those.

More QE is not an answer. And there is no other answer left either. Those tens of trillions will need to vanish from the global economy before any market can be returned to a functioning one, and by that time of course asset prices will be fraction of what they are now. It may not happen today, but that doesn’t matter: what’s important to know is that it WILL happen.

Is China Getting the Greek Treatment?

As China's stock market tumble precipitates a worldwide crash, we revisit this prescient 2011 article entitled "Illuminati Will Burst China's Bubble":
(from 28/12/11)
by David Richards
(henrymakow.com)

The mainstream media generally portray the US as a dying giant and China as an unstoppable rising power.

And yet, both countries have virtually the same debt-to-GDP levels. The US has $15 trillion worth of debt and a GDP of just over $14 trillion, while China has a GDP of $5.8 trillion and debts of $5.7 trillion.

Britain’s Labour Party Purge is Underway. Preventing “Supporters” from Voting for Jeremy Corbyn

Kerry-anne Mendoza explains how Labour Party leaders have banned her and many others from voting for Jeremy Corbyn.

The first wave of the UK Labour Party’s purge of registered supporters has begun, and I and many others outside of the Blairite wing of the Labour movement were disenfranchised by our own party on Thursday.

At a little after 5:00 am yesterday, an email arrived in my inbox from Labour HQ.

I read it once, then again. Then I just sat there.

First of all I was embarrassed, like I’d been caught out, even though I’d done nothing wrong. It’s being made out that voting for Jeremy Corbyn in the Labour leadership race is an act of sabotage, rather than an expression of my democratic rights. Once I realized that, I got angry. Really angry. I shared the news on my Facebook page and Twitter, and found that I was far from alone.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Welcome to my world, Ms. Mendoza, when Dr. Ron Paul was absolutely prevented from running by a corrupt, bought, Republican Party (NOT that the Democrats are any less corrupt and bought, mind you.)

But to not be able, via the ballot, to pick the individual who most closely understands your concerns and in what direction you would like to see the country move, domestically and internationally, is a slap in the face to those of us who believe in the values of a democratic republic.

Inside Job: INDIAN ANTI-CORRUPTION OFFICIAL: STATE “ORCHESTRATED” ISLAMIST TERROR

A senior Indian police officer and anti-corruption investigator last month accused the Indian government of orchestrating the Mumbai terror attacks which occurred nearly seven years ago, according to an Indian government official.

R. V. S. Mani, a former undersecretary in India’s home ministry now in the urban development ministry, testified in July that a senior police officer who investigated the 2004 ‘encounter killings’ of four Indian Muslims in Gujarat by the Ahmedabad Police Crime Branch, had told him that the 2008 Mumbai attacks were “set up” by the Indian government.

The police officer, Satish Verma?—?currently Principal at the Police Training College in Junagadh?—?is well-known for his secondment to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s elite anti-corruption law enforcement agency, to lead the probe into the 2004 ‘encounter killings.’

LOCKHEED PAYS MINOR PENALTY FOR USING FEDERAL FUNDS TO LOBBY FOR MORE FEDERAL FUNDS

Lockheed Martin operates Sandia National Laboratories, one of the nation’s leading nuclear research facilities. It has had this responsibility since 1993, yet, in spite of its three-decade run of managing that operation, Lockheed officials decided to use some of the federal contractor funding to lobby Congress from 2008 to 2012 to get a more lucrative deal.

While it did not receive the kind of contract it hoped for, Lockheed Martin came away with a two year non-competitive extension worth $7.7 billion.

The Department of Justice subsequently discovered that Lockheed Martin’s actions had violated the Byrd Amendment, which prohibits the use of federal funds for lobbying. The fine Lockheed got slapped with—the price it paid for breaking the law in order to land that $7.7 billion contract extension—was $4.79 million. Not too bad a deal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And yet, no senior LOCKHEED MARTIN CORPORATION executives go to prison for these shenanigans.

Hillary’s Email Defense Strategy Was Just Hammered To Bits By These Unlikely Critics

While you might think that MSNBC’s Morning Joe would provide a refuge for Hillary Clinton as she comes under increasing attack for her controversial email practices and her reaction to criticism, the panel on the left-leaning cable net show was particularly brutal toward the Democrat front-runner on Monday. TheWashington Free Beacon points out that words such as “condescending” and “dismissive” were used to describe Hillary’s approach to defending herself against those who say she broke government rules and possibly even broke the law.

Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski was stunningly direct in her criticism of Clinton’s strategy for trying to blow past the burgeoning email scandal. “This is a strategy that is basically dependent on people not being smart, which I think is really condescending,” the MSNBC anchor charged.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It looks like the system is going to dump Hillary, rather than risk exposure of the real scandals that lie behind the issue of the server.

Will Hillary go quietly?

I hope not! :)

Mobil to pay $10m for tank farm cleanup

Publicly-owned Waterfront Auckland has won $10 million from oil giant Mobil for the cleanup of a heavily contaminated area of Wynyard Quarter.

Mobil Oil leased two properties in Auckland's waterfront 'tank farm' for more than 50 years.

When Mobil's lease for the two sites ended in 2011, it was found the land they were on had been heavily contaminated.

While it was established the company was not solely responsible for contamination to the land - other oil companies as previous tenants and neighbouring tenants all contributed too - Waterfront Auckland claimed Mobil had to deliver the land in a completely "uncontaminated condition" at the end of its lease term.

Professor Awarded £250,000 to Study “Vice Epistemology,” Why People Think 9/11 Was An Inside Job

Professor Quassim Cassam has been awarded £250,000 by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to study what he calls ‘intellectual vices’. The title of his project is ‘Vice Epistemology’.

He believes his research could help to explain how certain claims – for example that 9/11 was masterminded by the US government – are able to gain so much traction.

His findings may also shed light on why some people are susceptible to becoming radicalised in ways that make them potential recruits for extremist organisations such as Islamic State.

Film industry spokeswoman to be Biden's communications chief

Vice President Joe Biden has chosen a top film industry official and former spokeswoman for John Edwards' 2008 presidential campaign to be his new communications director, the White House said Monday.

Kate Bedingfield joins the vice president's team just as Biden is seriously considering whether to run for president. But White House officials are subject to strict limitations on engaging in political activity, and Bedingfield's duties are expected to focus on the vice president's official activities, not on preparations for a potential campaign.

Bedingfield returns to the White House from the Motion Picture Association of America, where she was vice president of corporate communications and the top spokeswoman. She previously held senior media roles in the Obama White House and worked for Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H.

"She will be a key adviser to me, a terrific asset to our office, and an important member of the entire White House organization," Biden said in a statement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF Biden has made this choice at this point, you can bet your sweet bippy he's running.
