Dodd-Frank Budget Fight Proves Democrats Are a Bunch of Stuffed Suits

The dominant media narrative this past week has been that Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, firmly saddled in her high horse, is trying to hold up the passage of the budget over a trifle. In reality, the so-called "Citigroup" provision to kill a rule designed to prevent future bailouts (so named because it was allegedly written by Citigroup lobbyists) is potentially quite an evil and destructive little thing. But the nitpicking counter-spin is already coming hot and heavy.

How Congress Secretly Just Legitimized Questionable NSA Mass Surveillance Tool

We recently noted that, despite it passing overwhelmingly, Congress quietly deleted a key bit of NSA reform that would have blocked the agency from using backdoors for surveillance. But this week something even more nefarious happened, and it likely would have gone almost entirely unnoticed if Rep. Justin Amash's staffers hadn't caught the details of a new provision quietly slipped into the Intelligence Authorization Act, which effectively "legitimized" the way the NSA conducts most of its mass surveillance.

In a claim that must have people laughing out loud, the telecom and broadband providers are fighting net neutrality by claiming that they will raise the rates of consumers! Congress approves plan to allow pension cuts

More than a million retired and current truck drivers, construction workers and other union workers could see their pension benefits cut now that Congress passed a proposal aimed at shoring up some of the nation's biggest pensions.

Tacked on as an amendment to the government's $1.1 trillion spending bill, the proposal was approved by the Senate late Saturday night.

While those sponsoring the pension proposal say it is "the only available option" to save failing multiemployer pension plans, other groups -- like the AARP and the Pension Rights Center -- are crying foul.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is another option to cutting pensions. Take those Wall Street bankers whose 2008 mortgage-backed securities fraud wrecked the pension funds in the first place and make them cover the shortfall to protect the pensioners!

Betrayal? Majority of GOP Senators oppose calling Obama amnesty unconstitutional

While the Republicans are getting ready to take control of the of the U.S. Senate in just a few weeks, Americans witnessed a preview on Saturday of what can be expected in 2015 from a GOP majority in both houses of the U.S. Congress. When Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, raised a point of order saying that President Barack Obama's immigration reform by fiat is unconstitutional, during the heated debate over the $1.1 trillion spending bill, he only received support from 22 senators.

The vast majority of the U.S. Senate openly disagreed with Sen. Cruz’s attempt to enter opposition to President Obama’s executive order on immigration, on the grounds it is unconstitutional, in the omnibus spending bill for 2015.

I am referring to the Citigroup-drafted sneak attack on Washington’s tepid effort to curtail the more egregious gambling habits of some of the big banks. These incorrigible larcenists have been trying to gut the “push out” provisions of Dodd-Frank for more than three years now, yet the latter boils down to a simple and urgently necessary injunction to the banks. Congress Passes Temporary Tax Breaks for Big Business Now for 15 Years Straight

Last week, the House voted to extend special interest tax breaks, most of which expired at the end of last year. The 55 provisions included in this year's package are the legacy of the Bush-era tax cuts that began in 2001. But 15 years later, these temporary tax break meant to stimulate a slowing economy have mutated into a slew of provisions that mostly help corporations avoid taxes. According to the bipartisan nonprofit Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, these tax extenders have sapped the U.S. government of $44 billion in lost revenue over the past decade. And while some provisions do help individuals in the middle and lower classes, like tuition credits and deductions for teachers buying school supplies, three-quarters of that lost revenue has gone to big businesses.

A good example of this is the House and Senate agreeing to raise the budgets for the Commodities Futures Trading Commission and Securities & Exchange Commission in exchange for quietly repealing the Lincoln Amendment to the Dodd Frank financial regulation law. 5 Awful Things Congress Snuck Into the Omnibus Budget Deal

On Tuesday, Congressional leaders struck a deal to avert another government shutdown and put off our next completely avoidable, 100% self-imposed budget crisis until next September. And while most members of the least productive Congress in the history of these United States are already busy patting themselves on the back for summoning enough courage and can-do American spirit to actually govern for a day, the rest of us shouldn’t start celebrating just yet.

If you’re a Congressperson looking to sneak through something shady, the omnibus budget bill is the perfect opportunity since 1.) It’s 1600 pages long and very easy to hide things in, and 2.) Congress kind of has to pass it or the government shuts down. Again.

The House narrowly approved a sweeping spending bill Thursday night despite deep misgivings among liberals and conservatives alike, sending the measure to the Senate as lawmakers averted a partial government shutdown.

"Misgivings." That is Congress' reaction to the provision in the bill that dump $300 trillion (with a 't') in derivatives exposure onto the taxpayers, and allow pension funds who have lost money to Wall Street's frauds to slash benefits to the retired workers that paid that money into the pension fund in the first place.

Pension plans to be looted nationwide as Congress okays institutional theft of funds

When societies approach collapse, coercion shifts to outright theft: Stealing money right out of your bank account, for example, like we recently witnessed in Cyprus. Government also routinely target pension funds and even private retirement accounts, attempting to keep itself afloat by any means necessary.

Just like clockwork, that looting of pension plans is now about to commence. "Congress could soon allow the benefits of current retirees to be cut as part of an agreement to address the fiscal distress confronting some of the nation's 1,400 multi-employer pension plans," writes Michael Fletcher of the Washington Post. [1] The Post continues:

"This proposal would devastate retirees and their surviving spouses," said Karen Friedman, executive vice president of the Pension Rights Center, a nonprofit group. "The proposal would also torpedo basic protections of the federal private pension law ... that states that once benefits are earned, they can't be cut back."

Will Lawmakers Sneak a Gift to Wall Street into the Spending Bill?

Under cover of legislative chaos, lawmakers from both parties are working this week to preserve taxpayer-backing for some of Wall Street’s riskiest activities.

The deal taking shape would be slipped into the catch-all federal spending bill that is meant to finance the government in 2015, according to Capitol Hill sources who are not authorized to speak publicly. It would effectively repeal a plank of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law that would force big banks to conduct their most speculative derivatives trades in separately-capitalized subsidiaries, where they would be ineligible for federal deposit insurance, Federal Reserve assistance or other taxpayer-provided support.

The point of the law is to end the “heads I win, tails you lose,” game on Wall Street, in which the biggest banks keep the lavish winnings from their bets while pushing catastrophic losses onto the public, as happened in the financial crisis.

Obama Administration Double-Counted Healthcare Enrollees to Meet Goal

With so much riding on the success of the Affordable Care Act, officials in the Obama administration felt it necessary to inflate the number of Americans who had signed up for health insurance.

They tried pulling off this statistical sleight of hand by combining the number of people who had purchased dental coverage on the healthcare exchanges with those buying health insurance.

Somehow, the officials didn’t think anyone would notice … despite the fact they had previously reported the dental and medical totals separately.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which oversees CMS, had to backtrack and admit that officials “erroneously” folded sign-ups for the two different plans together. “A mistake was made,” a spokesperson for HHS said in a statement, adding that, in fact, 6.7 million Americans had purchased medical coverage as of October 15.

Marijuana’s Long Term Effects On The Brain Finally Revealed!

With a drug war against marijuana still raging in more countries than not, the question of how long-term marijuana use effects the human brain is a pivotal question in its legalization. Although alcohol remains legal despite heaps of evidence to the dangers of long-term use, the fight to make marijuana available both with regard to its medical properties (especially in selectively killing cancer cells) and non-medical uses has frequently hinged on the various claims made about marijuana’s effects on the recreational user.

Asked at the daily press briefing what makes "The Bold and The Beautiful" producer Colleen Bell qualified to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Hungary, White House spokesman Josh Earnest didn't exactly have an explanation.

"(She's) somebody who obviously has succeeded in, you know, in the business world," Earnest said.

"And she is somebody that the President has confidence will be able to maintain our relationship with the government and the people of Hungary."

Earnest also denied that Bell's hand in raising millions of dollars for the President's re-election campaign had anything to do with her appointment.

Webmaster's Commentary:

During my time in Hollywood I met a lot of producers. Some were pretty sharp. Others were producers only because of family or romantic ties, investing their own money, or they were MOCKINGBIRD assets. I have never met Colleen Bell and have no idea what kind of person she is, and being that an ambassador is generally a glorified messenger, stripped of plenipotentiary powers in this age of instant global communication, she might actually be up to the job. That being said, politics is perception and it does look like Obama is going to spend his last years in office handing out goodies to his campaign fundraisers, which is hardly a new practice. Without casting aspersions on Colleen Bell, this looks about as reasonable a decision on Obama's part as when Caligula appointed his horse to the Roman Senate!

ObamaCare incentivizes hiring amnestied illegals to the tune of $3000 each

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about ObamaCare - aside from the fact that it’s an abject disaster in terms of meeting its stated goals - it’s that the unintended consequences of its passage just keep piling up. Sure, conservatives warned of the chaos that would stem from the Dems’ “signature legislation,” but even those of us who were sounding the alarm are amazed at how it keeps managing to fail in new, exciting, ways.

Today we’re learning that the law actually incentivizes corporations to hire the millions of illegals who are currently enjoying Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty order - instead of hiring actual, legal, U.S. citizens. In fact, under the ACA, companies who hire an amnestied illegal can dodge a $3,000 penalty that they would have had to pay if they’d hired a citizen.

Willie?McRae?was?said?to?have discovered child abuse by cabinet ministers and other leading members of the establishment on both sides of the Border. Shortly before his death he was seen photocopying a dossier of names in case something should happen to him.

The copies are understood to have been posted to a number of close associates. Despite a lengthy inquiry, the Sunday Express has been unable to establish whether any copies of the alleged dossier are still in existence.

McRae never went public with his allegations as he was found shot dead in his car off a remote road in Wester Ross on April 6, 1985.

Obama White House, IRS allegedly involved in taxpayer spying conspiracy

According to Adams -- now an independent investigator of government corruption as well as a columnist for several news and commentary publications -- President Barack Obama's "historically transparent" White House and the scandal-plagued IRS will soon turn over thousands of documents involving the improper transfer of confidential taxpayer records by the IRS to Obama's minions in the White House.

How Many Ways Can Goldman Give?

Hillary Clinton is leaving nothing to chance, and neither is Goldman Sachs. Since her first Senate campaign in 1999, the firm has been bankrolling Clinton to the tune of millions. Individual donors like Goldman CEO Lloyd Blankfein have been generous, but the firm has sought to purchase influence and good will through more oblique channels: speaking fees as well as contributions to the nonprofit Clinton Foundation.

Of course, Goldman is not alone. Citigroup ranks No. 1 in lifetime donations to Clinton; Morgan Stanley is No. 6 and employs Clinton confidant Tom Nides.

Wall Streeters are ready for Hillary.? And after the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision, it will be increasingly difficult to track their influence.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Under a Hillary Clinton presidency, everything one may despise in the Obama administration will continue, but on steroids.

There will be no governmental responsibility whatsoever; at the end of the day, she is simply another slave to her corporate and Israeli masters.

Message will have absolutely no relationship to reality; the wars will continue, potentially leading us to war with Russia; the destruction of the American Middle Class will have become complete; US "education" will continue to become more third world; torture of prisoners of war will be routine; the bankers will fatten their purses, and this country's leadership will become even more brutal toward its own citizens in ways you cannot begin to imagine.

In fact, the potential ugly reality here should be expressed in the following bumper sticker: "Hillary Clinton: she'll do for America...what she did for Benghazi!!"

Folks, just please: look at her record, going back to her law school days, and her employment shortly after that. And how various jobs ended. Understand that the woman has the morals of a trout. (Yes, I know I'll get emails from trout who are insulted by that, but it's a fact.)

And the problem here for me is, a Clinton candidacy is, allegedly, the best the Democratic Party can conjure. And the Republicans, particularly is Jeb wins the nomination, can seem to do no better for We the People.

It appears to be only a matter of time, and timing, before all the reasons I have articulated as to why I would be morally unable to vote for Clinton, come to pass; but they will also come to pass if the best the Republicans can do is to nominate Jeb Bush.

As of yet, I fail to see a potential candidate for President coming out of either party. And that is truly ....unfortunate for American's voters.

Jeb Bush’s Four Mysterious Companies Share The Same Address And Have Never Done Any Known Business

Jeb Bush and his capital investment company have set up several companies that, despite being registered to his office and being approved for “any and all lawful business,” have seemingly not yet done anything. A ThinkProgress review of corporate registration records with the Florida Department of State revealed several companies registered in Bush’s name but little additional information.

In addition to his lengthy and troubled history as a business consultant and corporate board member, in recent years former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) has ventured into a new territory: capital investment. Since 2008, he and his partners have registered a lengthy array of secretive companies with the state of Florida.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope the continued scrutiny here pays off before the 2016 elections, to find out just how these companies have been engineered to contribute to the Bush family's economic dynasty.

Note to the Hawaii tourism industry: Judge Kurren is not your friend

A Judge trying to save Dow and Monsanto and their toxic GMO/pesticide experiments is one thing; but there is a much bigger industry in Hawaii:

Tourism.

I’m sure Judge Barry Kurren and his wife, Faye, know some of the heavy hitters in that billion-dollar business.

Well, look at it this way: If the Judge rules against the people of Maui, who just voted to stop Dow and Monsanto…

And if tourists begin to realize how many Dow/ Monsanto experimental toxic pesticides continue floating around the Islands…

And if they book their vacations elsewhere…

Eyes will turn. Glances will become accusing stares.

Malaysia excluded from MH17 probe – for 'not pointing fingers at Russia'?

The country that owned the shot down MH17 jet, which was carrying a number of Malaysian citizens and was flown by a Malaysian crew, has been excluded from the criminal investigation due to its political neutrality, the nation's media reported.

Malaysia has been left out of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), which has been tasked with learning more about the details of the tragedy which took place over Ukraine in July. This is despite the Dutch prime minister stating the importance of Malaysia's cooperation during a visit to the country this month. The JIT includes the Netherlands, Belgium, Ukraine, and Australia.

Save the corporations…I mean children

When Tony Blair received the Global Legacy Award last week from Save the Children, an organization dedicated to “transforming children’s lives,” it seemed like a bad joke to many people. This, after all, was a man who had been willing to use fabricated evidence to launch an illegal war against Iraq during his time as Britain’s Prime Minister, a conflict that irrevocably “transformed” the lives of thousands of children by killing them. These days Blair is advising the new military regime in Egypt and doing a sideline in Saudi oil kickbacks. We don’t hear too much about children in either of those countries, but I’m willing to bet that living under military or aristocratic dictatorship isn’t too good for the little mites, especially when, as is the case with Saudi Arabia, child marriage is nothing unusual.

Big Banks: What Happens When Customers Cease to Believe?

To try to understand the current controversy over bank supervision is quite impossible if one insists on treating it as a domestic issue. All central bank policies these days are apparently coordinated by the Bank for International Settlements (and London as well) and the system will protect its own.

Not only will it protect its own, it will create conditions for the continued expansion and consolidation of big money center banks. It will drive this expansion by ensuring these banks are "too big to fail" and thus receive the funds they need to stay in business no matter what.

All of these manipulations are generated to expand and consolidate the banking/financial sector. And what is more disheartening is that banks – despite the meme of their necessity – are in the larger sense simply glorified bookkeeping shops.

NETANYAHU FIRED CHUCK HAGEL

The resignation (forced firing) of Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is a bad sign folks; a very bad sign. It's not that Secretary Hagel was anything special of course; Globalist, DC Insider, member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) etc; but at least he wasn't a complete warmongering psychopath like Donald Rumsfeld or Dick Cheney.

You see, Schmuckie Hagel was more of a "soft power" Globalist, a fact which had earned him the open enmity of the Jewish neo-conservatives and the Israelis. It is clear now that a weakened "Ebola-ized", post-election Obongo has been usurped by the more aggressive faction of America's PRC (Predatory Ruling Class), operating within his own Party and administration.

President set to sign immigrant plan in Las Vegas

President Barack Obama is traveling to Las Vegas on Friday to sign an executive order that would offer temporary legal status to millions of immigrants who are in the country illegally and set off a new fight with Republicans in Congress.

Obama plans to speak at Del Sol High School, which he first visited as a presidential candidate in 2008 and where he first laid out a broad immigration plan in January 2013.

This time he will be arriving in Las Vegas to deliver at least part of his promise for reform, and will renew a challenge to the new GOP majorities in Congress to pass an immigration bill if they don’t like it, White House officials said.

Obama, in a video released on Facebook, said he would make a nationally televised announcement on immigration from the White House at 8 p.m. EST today, then would go to Las Vegas to promote the plan Friday. Del Sol High is in a largely Hispanic neighborhood east of McCarran International Airport.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Funny how Eisenhower was able to completely stop the illegal immigrants with only 1/10th the border patrol agents Obama has! What is broken about immigration is actually enforcing the laws and THAT is the responsibility of the White House. It is called the Executive Branch because under the Constitution, the President executes the will of the Congress. Clearly, with regards to enforcing the immigration laws, it is the President who has failed, not the Congress. But, sadly, we have a President who appears to be suffering from narcissistic personality disorder, unable to admit when he is wrong (just look at Obamacare) and hence will exceed his lawful authority to create new laws to cover up his ineptitude at enforcing the will of the Congress and the American people.

Lawmakers asked to sign secrecy pledge on gasline before Walker takes office

Legislators plan to meet the day after Thanksgiving for a final update from the Parnell administration on the proposed natural gas pipeline. But they won't be allowed to attend unless they sign a secrecy pledge.

One Reader's Shocked Response Upon Learning His Health Insurance Cost Just Doubled

After spending months trying to register for the ACA in late 2013 and early 2014 my kids got put on our state's insurance (at "no cost") and my wife and I bagged an ACA policy at a subsidized cost of $281 per month with a total out of pocket of about $6500 (just for the two of us).

Attached is the ACA notification of next year's price increase. As you can see the cost goes from $281 to $555, a monthly increase of $274, a percentage increase of 97%.

Basically we are now paying the same amount for the two of us that we paid for all four of us one year ago.

Petitioning Jim Benson - Stop Fracking next to El Paso, Texas

Fracking endangers the health, safety and welfare of people, pollutes the air and ground, results in rising crime and social and medical costs, utterly destroys ecosystems and permanently contaminates underground aquifers with toxic compounds and consumes billions of gallons of water. Yet, just a few minutes away from the city limits of El Paso, Texas a major metropolitan area of 675,000 people, and a few miles from the farming community of Dell City, Texas, the University of Texas System has leased over a hundred thousand acres to Torchlight Energy Resources, Inc. for the sole purpose of fracking. Torchlight Energy says that it may drill up to as many as 2500 wells on this area immediately east of El Paso called the Diablo Plateau which, with the Otero Mesa in New Mexico, forms a rich ecosystem of plants and animals. Torchlight Energy Resources must not drill there. The University of Texas Lands System must not allow them.

What did the Brisbane G-20 summit accomplish?

President Barack Obama was equally effusive, saying the gathering was not a “chinwag,” an Australian word for meaningless talk.
