5 Signs the Government’s Biggest War is for Your Mind

Carey Wedler
Activist Post

When most people think of destructive government wars, images of drone strike wreckage and murdered civilians come to mind.

But while organized, physical violence is a repulsive form of oppression, the state employs a variety of tactics to wage war on its own citizens. They are more subtle than batons and guns but far more effective than violence alone. They seek to conquer not bodies, but minds...

Oregon witness jailed for 905 days goes free with check for $5,750

Oregon is really a strange place these days!

Benito Vasquez-Hernandez left the Washington County Jail on Thursday in the front passenger seat of a patrol car.

He wore a plaid shirt, khaki pants and tennis shoes.

All of his belongings fit in a grocery bag.

His exit, not through the usual release door, was out of the sight of media waiting as he ended his 905th day in jail -- and with it, his notoriety as the longest-held witness in Oregon and perhaps the nation.

Reports: Boehner To Meet With Netanyahu In Israel

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) will travel to Israel at the end of the month to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who just won re-election, according to reports from CNN and Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Israeli officials told Haaretz that Boehner will lead a delegation of Republican congressmen on a trip to Israel on March 31. Boehner reportedly confirmed the trip when Netanyahu spoke before Congress two weeks ago, before the Prime Minister won re-election.

Time to give Palestinians their country back

More than the threat of war on Iran, Netanyahu’s re-election is a call for war on Palestinians everywhere. It is a call for war on human rights and international law. It is a mandate for the Israeli government to murder Palestinians. It gives Netanyahu license to continue Israel's seven-decade policy of racism and apartheid towards the people from whom they stole the land. It is also a call for people of conscience to impose boycotts and sanctions to divest and to isolation Israel. No more business as usual - it is time for outrage, for action, the type of action that brought down apartheid in South Africa. It is a call to finally allow Palestinians to have their country back.

U.S. Customs Quietly Launches Facial Recognition Experiment at DC Airport

The next time you come back from overseas and flash your American passport at Washington, DC’s Dulles airport, customs officers might take a picture of you and use facial recognition technology to figure out if you really are who you say you are. On March 11, the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) quietly rolled out a new facial recognition pilot program to help custom officers catch “imposters,” or people using a passport that isn’t theirs, an agency spokesperson confirmed to Motherboard on Wednesday.

35 countries where the U.S. has supported fascists, drug lords and terrorists

Behind a firewall of impunity and protection from the State Department and the CIA, U.S. clients and puppets have engaged in the worst crimes known to man, from murder and torture to coups and genocide. The trail of blood from this carnage and chaos leads directly back to the steps of the U.S. Capitol and the White House. As historian Gabriel Kolko observed in 1988, “The notion of an honest puppet is a contradiction Washington has failed to resolve anywhere in the world since 1945.” What follows is a brief A to Z guide to the history of that failure.

Scandal-hit Italian minister announces resignation

Maurizio Lupi, the transport and infrastructure minister, said on Thursday that he would resign on Friday after a parliament meeting about the graft case.

This came after a major investigation found that Ettore Incalza, a former senior official in Lupi’s department, was a suspect in the rigging of tenders for major public works projects worth a total of 25 billion euros ($26.5 billion).

A total of 51 officials and businessmen, including Incalza, have been placed under investigation.

Is mass over-vaccination causing polio-like paralysis in children?

"The specific causes of this illness are still under investigation," says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the rise of a so-called "mystery" disease that currently available evidence suggests may be caused by vaccines.

The media is referring to it as polio-like paralysis, a condition marked by nearly all the same symptoms as actual polio. But nobody is willing to actually call it polio because, according to the official story, polio has already been eradicated by vaccines.

So what's causing polio-like paralysis? Nobody knows, apparently. But a growing number of children are developing it, much to the chagrin of health authorities who are struggling to come up with an explanation for why children who should have been protected by vaccines are unable to move their limbs or walk.

Jon Stewart equates maniac Netanyahu with American whites

Here is a neat little Zionist trick. First take PM Netanyahu, with the blood of thousands of Gazans killed or maimed last summer still fresh on his hands and trying to manipulate America into an insane war with Iran. Then pick one of his most insignificant transgressions, namely warning his supporters that Arab voter turnout likely to be unusually high — the implication being that Arab electoral participation is undesirable. Finally, as the punch line to a joke, say ginning up “racist fears of minority turnout for short-term political gain” is “our thing?” What does he mean by “our thing?” Well, who is not a minority in this country? Whites! And Jon Stewart, as a Jew, has a magic yarmulke that he can put on and take off, depending on whether he wants claim oppressed minority status or magnanimously engage in self-hate as a whitey.

Sean Penn ‘thanks’ Dick Cheney — an ‘embittered bacteria of humanity’ — for creating ISIS

“You mentioned Dick Cheney, this kind of, you know, embittered bacteria of humanity,” Penn said. “It’s always a surprise to me to remember that, through bionic technology and so on, this guy’s still here.”

Cheney, who has had five heart attacks since 1978, underwent a heart transplant in 2012.

“But then we have people like Harvey Milk, who were beautiful, brilliant, impactful guys, and, you know – it’s just no good deed will go unpunished, and then you’ve got the Cheneys,” said Penn, who played the slain LGBT rights activist and San Francisco city supervisor. “This is just me musing.”

Penn credited Cheney and his boss for inspiring the brutal Islamic State extremist group sowing terror in the Middle East.

What’s the Precinct Takeover?

Democratic and Republican Party leaders control virtually every county in the USA and are working against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

We encourage Liberty fighters to get involved as Precinct Captains/Chairs in their county, in the party of their choice, or as independents. The precinct captains elect county party leaders who endorse the candidates. Change the party leaders, change the lawmakers, and restore the Constitution.

This is how we can take back the nation for Liberty, precinct by precinct, county by county, and state by state.

Realtor feared the worst

This was my neighbor. He was a well liked man who had very little. A couple of beloved dogs a truck and his home. The Bank,The Wasco County Sheriff's department and the Oregon State Police took it all from him.
I don't believe much of the story that has come out. They did a 24 hour autopsy and declared him a suicide because he could have come out. Bull! They had him surrounded with machine guns a robot and an armored vehicle. They shot the house full of incendiary teargas. That's when the place went up. They say he shot one of his dogs but one dog was found near him him unshot. The other dog was found near the front door where the police tried to enter. They haven't produced a gun either. The whole thing stinks!

As soon as the bank told Dee Ashley last Friday that she had to give an eviction notice Monday to a man she’d seen declining for months, she had a gut feeling it would end badly.

How Thatcher’s Government Covered Up a VIP Pedophile Ring

A newspaper editor was handed startling evidence that Britain’s top law enforcement official knew there was a VIP pedophile network in Westminster, at the heart of the British government. What happened next in the summer of 1984 helps to explain how shocking allegations of rape and murder against some of the country’s most powerful men went unchecked for decades.

Less than 24 hours after starting to inquire about the dossier presented to him by a senior Labour Party politician, the editor was confronted in his office by a furious member of parliament who threatened him and demanded the documents. “He was frothing at the mouth and really shouting and spitting in my face,” Don Hale told The Daily Beast. “He was straight at me like a raging lion; he was ready to knock me through the wall.”

Operation Rent Seeking How the war on terrorism became a business model.

The syndrome the Bush administration created in Iraq was what former Pentagon critic Chuck Spinney has called a “self-licking ice cream cone”: the measures to fight the war on terrorism guaranteed more terrorists, which in turn guaranteed the agencies more money to fight the war on terrorism. The same process was at work with respect to torture and drone strikes. It is a great business model for contractors and bureaucratic empire builders, but far less favorable as a national survival strategy.

Kiev Shifts Goalposts as Merkel Skews Wide

Unfortunately, the prognosis is that if Merkel cannot see the glaring truth of the situation by now... then there is not much hope of the chancellor ever coming to a realistic political position on Ukraine...And, grimly, that means the outlook for further conflict is not good.

Netanyahu’s Victory: Now What President Obama?

Netanyahu's outright rejection of a Palestinian state and his promise to go on building more and more illegal settlements leave Obama without any wriggle room.

“Love him (Netanyahu) or hate him, this is the face of Israel.” That’s how Uriel Heilman concluded an article for the JTA (Jewish Telegraph Agency) on Netanyahu’s election victory after noting that he had shown his true colours by declaring that there would be no Palestinian state while he is in charge. What President Obama now has to decide is whether or not he will allow Netanyahu to remain in charge of American policy for Israel-Palestine.

Netanyahu Unmasks Israel

With the facades gone, Americans must decide if they will embrace this apartheid system or not...

Desperate to win reelection, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stripped off Israel’s mask and exposed the ugliness that has deformed his country over the past several decades. He abandoned the subterfuge of a two-state solution, exposed the crass racism that underlies Israeli politics, and revealed Israel’s blatant control of the U.S. Congress.

For years, U.S. politicians have rejected allegations of Israeli racism and excused mistreatment of the Palestinians as a temporary necessity that would be fixed by a two-state solution. But Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has destroyed those arguments in his panic to keep his job, reports Robert Parry.

Jeb Bush, and the predictable arc of presidential primaries

I don't know if Jeb Bush is a naturally optimistic fellow, although if you asked him he'd surely say he is (every candidate has to proclaim their optimism, particularly about America). But in recent weeks he's had some cause for concern. Not long ago, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found a full 42 percent of Republicans saying they wouldn't consider voting for him. Bush is the "establishment" candidate at a time when the Tea Party still dominates the Republican base.

And Republicans seem unusually taken with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who has all the correct positions for GOP primary voters, not to mention the glow that comes from being the Next Big Thing. After two elections in which older, familiar figures won the nomination then lost to Barack Obama, one might think the party is ready to nominate someone new.

But Bush may not have to worry. If the primaries go the way they usually do, he'll prevail.

What Does the Netanyahu Victory 'Mean' for America?

Was it a clear endorsement of Netanyahu's policies? Do we even know what those policies will turn out to be?

Didn’t other nations pretty much say to the US after Bush’s re-election, “Okay, but if you want to start or continue Bush’s wars, you are now on your own.”

Is it not at least conceivable that other nations should now respond to Israel and say, “Okay, but if you truly are not going to agree to a two-state solution, and if your settlements are going to continue to be planned and located to make a two-state solution impossible, then you are now on your own"?

I mean, can we not make continued support contingent on a policy that has at least some hope of leading to (1) peace in the Mideast, and (2) extrication of the US from a situation in which we are attacked and our citizens are killed because we are perceived to support Israel unconditionally?

The Saker interviews Gilad Atzmon

It has been already 6 years since I interviewed Gilad for the first time and when a friend recently suggested that it was time for a new conversation, I immediately agreed, as did Gilad who, in spite of his over-booked and hectic lifestyle took the time to reply to my questions. Gilad is, in my opinion, not only the most original and talented jazz musician currently composing and playing (make sure to get his latest CD “The Whistle Blower“), he is also an extremely profound philosopher who has the amazing courage not only to ask the key questions, but to also answer them. His book “The Wandering Who” is, I strongly believe, a must read for anybody wanting to see through the “fog” of modern “Jewish anti-Zionism”. As somebody who has gotten his share of hate mail, I can only begin to imagine the kind of hate-filled poison which Gilad has had to put up with for his courage and even though he will not speak about it, I will say that it takes exceptional courage and moral strength to do what Gilad did and is still doing.

Fed doublespeak and the dismantling of the middle class: Fed states dropping “patient” word doesn’t mean it is impatient on rates. In 1970 roughly 7 percent of all income was earned by the top 1 percent. Today it is closer to 20 percent.

The Fed has taken a page out of George Orwell’s 1984. Doublespeak is all the rage and the Fed’s statements are analyzed as if sifting for gold. Even when they don’t do anything markets jump. The Fed sets the tone on our debt addiction. The Fed dropped the word “patient” in terms of increasing interest rates but then goes on to say this doesn’t mean that it will be impatient. Say what? The Fed hints at tapering and balks because it claims there is “low inflation” but when we look at real inflation, the price of many items is shooting up dramatically. Many of these items were staples of the middle class including an affordable college education, a home, and being able to earn a good wage. Back in 1975 roughly 7 percent of all income earned went to the top 1 percent. Today it is closer to 20 percent. The last time it was this high was during the years prior to the Great Depression.
