“I Thought I Was Middle-Class?”

When I saw that slimy tentacle of the Goldman Sachs vampire squid, Gary Cohn, bloviating about Trump’s tax plan and how it was going to do wonders for the middle class, I knew I was probably going to get screwed again. And after perusing the outline of their plan, it is certain I will be getting it up the ass once again from my beloved government. Pelosi mutters ‘oh God’ during question, suffers brain freeze, stares at reporters

Nancy Pelosi wanted to talk about a bailout for Puerto Rico today, but a reporter wanted her opinion on “gun legislation” moving through Congress instead. The House Minority Leader couldn’t hide her disdain for — or fear of — the question. ( One reason she may not have wanted to talk about guns is because the National Rifle Association has a higher approval rating than Congress. Last year, the NRA enjoyed a 42 percent approval rating, according to NBC. The job approval of Congress sits at a paltry 8 percent, according to an Economist poll. )

Don’t Fall for Tax Reform

It’s a con, and a shell game. It’s a promise every presidential candidate makes, including Trump. But we ought to be suspicious of grandiose talk about Congress reforming anything. Tax reform proposals always evade and obscure the real issue, which is the total cost– financial, compliance, and human– taxes impose on society. The fundamental questions about war and entitlements and state power go unasked. We never consider whether Congress really needs to spend more than $4 trillion in 2018, or how it managed to double federal spending in only 15 years.

A war between the US and North Korea is 'now a real possibility,' an influential British think tank warns

The British think tank RUSI believes that a US-North Korea war is "a real possibility."

The war could be started by either side. It "will not be surgical or short," the think tank said, and there would be "scenes of carnage."
Even without nuclear weapons, such a war could kill hundreds of thousands of people in a week, produce millions of refugees, and wreck the global economy.
The UK should refuse to unconditionally support the US in this war, RUSI said.
An acclaimed British defence think tank has warned that war between North Korea and the United States is "now a real possibility" and that peaceful talks may no longer work to bring down tensions.

In a report Thursday, the Royal United Services Institute said a war could start in two main ways: Either Pyongyang could strike if it believes the US is planning a surprise attack, or Washington could strike if North Korea fires test missiles near Guam or California.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We have been told that there have been some "back channel" communications between representatives for North Korean and American Governments; but looking at the larger picture, it is difficult to imagine what those negotiations have actually acheived toward ratcheting down tensions here.

Tillerson is in Beijing right now, in discussions with his Chinese counterpart; I hope they are making some headway in dealing with Kim Jung Un, but these discussions are very very.....guarded, so it is hard to know what is going on. I would like to hope that when Tillerson gets back to the US, that there will be some progress to report.

Vietnam Shows How To Clean Up The Banking System: Ex-Banker Sentenced To Death For Fraud

The lack of prosecution of US bankers responsible for the great financial crisis has been a much debated topic over the years, leading to the coinage of such terms as "Too Big To Prosecute", the termination of at least one corrupt DOJ official, the revelation that Eric Holder is the most useless Attorney General in history, and of course billions in cash kickbacks between Wall Street and D.C. And, naturally, the lack of incentives that punish cheating and fraud, is one of the main reasons why such fraud will not only continue but get bigger until once again, the entire system crashes under the weight of accumulated theft, corruption and Fed-driven malinvestment. But what can be done? In this case, Vietnam may have just shown the way - sentence embezzling bankers to death. Because if one wants to promptly stop an end to all financial crime, few things motivate as efficiently as a firing squad.

Coverup? FBI, DOJ Refuse To Comply With Congressional "Trump Dossier" Subpoena

n what looks like a naked coverup meant to obscure the fact that the Department of Justice's decision to launch a criminal investigation into possible Russia-Trump collusion was based on a lie, Reuters reports that the DOJ and FBI are resisting a Congressional subpoena from to turn over documents that would reveal details about how the infamous "Trump dossier" factored into their decision to launch said investigation.

Despite receiving the subpoena from US Intel Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, the FBI is steadfastly refusing to turn over the documents because the agency says they would purportedly compromise an ongoing criminal investigation (the FBI’s investigation into Mueller). More likely, the agency’s intransigence stems from fears that the one Russia collusion narrative that Democrats have actively worked to suppress could come back to haunt them.

Trump’s health chief Tom Price resigns over private flight scandal

Embattled Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price quit on Friday, the White House announced.

“Secretary of Health and Human Services Thomas Price offered his resignation earlier today and the President accepted,” spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

“The president intends to designate Don J. Wright of Virginia to serve as Acting Secretary. Wright currently serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health and Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.”

The development came after Price blew through more than $1 million of taxpayers’ cash for government and chartered private jets, President Trump said Friday.

Americans burdened by Obamacare now face even higher costs

Jim Hansen and his wife considered themselves fortunate when they retired five years ago. The Denver couple, both electrical engineers, were healthy. They'd socked away an ample nest egg. And they found health insurance that, if not cheap, seemed reasonable for two people in their late 50s. Then, the math started to change. Since 2015, the couple's annual premiums have more than tripled and may hit nearly $18,000 next year.

Julian Assange Says He Will Provide Evidence Russia Narrative Is False in Exchange for Pardon

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has offered to provide evidence that the Russian collusion narrative is false in exchange for a pardon from President Trump.

The president, apparently, has not yet gotten the message. On Saturday, President Trump told reporters that he has "never heard" of Assange's offer to make a deal.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) told The Daily Caller that Trump is being blocked from knowing about the potential deal with Assange. “I think the president’s answer indicates that there is a wall around him that is being created by people who do not want to expose this fraud that there was collusion between our intelligence community and the leaders of the Democratic Party,” Rohrabacher said.

Lost in the tax reform debate

The biggest concern for politicians is whether the overhaul will result in a net loss of revenue for the government. This implies two things: 1) that the money belongs to the government; and 2) that the government could not function with less money. Neither of these is true. Years of study and observation tell me that not one person in a million understands the income tax. The income tax is probably the greatest deception and fraud in history, because it is the foundation of a private monetary system. The very few who do understand vomit every time they hear the word “democracy.”

Pelosi mutters ‘oh God’ during question, suffers brain freeze, stares at reporters

“Madame Leader, I’d like to get your thoughts on some gun legislation moving toward the floor…” the reporter began.

“Oh God,” Pelosi said.

“Yeah,” she muttered to herself when the reporter said the bill would “deregulate silencers and undermine concealed carry laws.”

“Well, in addition to that, it’s the silencers, it’s the, uh, conceal and carry,” Pelosi said, repeating what the reporter just said, “and it’s also, uh, uh,” she continued, before suffering a brain freeze for several awkward moments, before blurting out, “pier— uh, um, armor-piercing bullets.”

One reason she may not have wanted to talk about guns is because the National Rifle Association has a higher approval rating than Congress.

Liberal logic: Chicago politician says forget spending cuts, we could raise revenue with ‘super ticket-writers’

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is looking for ways to close the city’s $260 million budget gap– and cutting spending evidently isn’t an option in the liberal city. One possibility to increase revenue suggested by a local politician would involve hiring a crew of special cops whose primary job is to harass and fine residents for as many petty quality-of-life violations as possible.

Gary Cohn: "I Can't Guarantee" Taxes Won't Go Up For The Middle Class

While proclaiming that "the biggest winners will be everyday American workers," President Trump's top economic adviser, Gary Cohn told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos that he can't guarantee that taxes won't go up for some middle-class families under the administration's sweeping tax overhaul.

"The biggest winners will be the everyday American workers as jobs start pouring into our country, as companies start competing for American labor and as wages start going up at levels that you haven't seen in many years," Trump said.

Following Matt Drudge's cries of "betrayal" yesterday, it appears confusion truly reigns as to just who benefits from the so-called 'greatest tax cuts in the history of the world' as we know absolutely nothing because the government has yet to release the income brackets (or get close to guessing at just how 'progressive' and 'punitive' the optional 4th bracket will be).

"F**k Your F**king Freedom Of Speech" - Angry Student Steals MAGA Hat, Demands Victim Be Punished

A video of the incident obtained by Campus Reform shows an enraged female student taking the hat to the school’s Student Life Department as Matthew Vitale fruitlessly attempts to explain to the young woman that the hat is his property.

“So this guy thought it would be a good idea to go into a conference wearing this f***ing hat,” the student who stole the hat states.

“Look at the kind of sh*t he’s wearing, You know what this represents? This represents genocide—genocide of a bunch of people.”
Vitale then tries to explain that “you do not get to take other people’s property that is legally theirs in this country,” to which the unidentified thief replies, “man, f*** your laws.”

“Do you have any f***ing conscience?” she goes on to ask, questioning why Vitale would dare to wear a MAGA hat on campus and telling him that his “f***ing freedom of speech is genocide, homeboy.”

The Evil Alexander Hamilton… And how he ruined America.

One thing can be said for American nationalism. It has led to every major war, every bad policy, every bit of government corruption at the federal level, and every political conflict in American history. Americans don’t like top-down government unless they control the levers of power. The only solution is to rebuke Hamiltonian nationalism and return to the Jeffersonian vision of federalism and limited central power. flashback:12/18/2016: THE ODDS OF LEGALIZED SPORTS BETTING IN DONALD TRUMP'S AMERICA

***
The four major professional sports leagues – the NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball and the NHL – along with the behemoth NCAA, have been the biggest obstacles to sports betting expansion, all often working in concert to wield PASPA as the weapon against such expansion. As Wallach smartly points out, though, the law itself notes that a sports organization can only seek injunctive relief for PASPA violations when that specific organization’s games are the basis of the violation.

In other words, the NFL does not have standing under PASPA to say, “Hey, New Jersey can’t bet on the NBA.” That’s up to the discretion of the NBA, though again, so far, the major sports organizations have played ball together to stifle legalized sports betting –>>>

Iraqi PM Demands Kurds ‘Cancel’ Referendum Result

The results of the Iraqi Kurdistan referendum on secession are in, with over 92% of the voters in favor of seceding from Iraq. Iraq’s Prime Minister Hayder Abadi has threatened military action in retaliation.

In fact, Abadi is now demanding that the Kurds totally cancel the vote, even though it’s already taken place and the results are already in, saying he will “never discuss” the results of the referendum because Iraq’s parliament didn’t give them permission for it.

Iraqi officials seem to be throwing everything at the situation in Kurdistan now and seeing what sticks. Demands for the Kurds to surrender their airports have been spurned, and Kurdish officials had ruled out returning to Baghdad’s rule before Abadi’s latest demands were even made.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Iraqi Prime Minister Abadi, a word, please; in a terse statement my late grandmother frequently used to illustrate the reality that it was past time to actually fix something, she would say: "The horse is already out of the barn."

The Iraqi Kurdish people have spoken, and with one voice; how you deal with it will, ultimately, be in one of two ways; either a Turkish-assisted genocide of the Iraqi Kurds, or a political accomodation which requires no bloodshed.

The choice is both yours, and that of the Iraqi government.

But I can assure you, that the entire world is watching.

As a member of the UN, and represented by Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations, Mohammed al – Hakim, you must understand that peaceful self-determination is enshrined in the UN charter, to which Iraq is a signatory.

So you have the choice; genocide; or accomodation.

Which will it be, Prime Minister Abadi, with the entire world watching and collectively holding its breath?!?

TURKEY, IRAQ, AND IRAN CONSIDER JOINT MILITARY ACTION AGAINST THE KURDS

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu today warned that every option is on the table for dealing with Iraqi Kurdistan’s independence bid, and that they are considering a joint military operation with the Iraqi central government against the Kurds.

Iran chimed in shortly thereafter, saying they’re eager to stand with both Iraq and Turkey to rule out any possible secession of the Kurds. Top Khamenei adviser Ali Akbar Velayati termed the big “an abhorrent deviation,” adding that the region would “not allow the creation of a second Israel.”

Iraqi officials haven’t directly addressed the possibility of military action against the Kurds, though the Iraqi parliament has approved the deployment of the military into areas contested by the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, the sense I get here, is that we are looking at ethnic cleansing of Iraqi Kurds, and happening quickly.

Turkey, historically, is very comfortable with the concept of genocide:

The first genocide of the 20th Century occurred when two million Armenians living in Turkey were eliminated from their historic homeland through forced deportations and massacres.

As the Turkish government considers much of its own Kurdish population to be "terrorists", belonging to, or adhering to the principals of the PKK (even though many are completely innocent of any violence, and just requesting more rights and freedoms as an ethnic minority in Turkey), They will not hesitate to ethnically cleanse Iraq of its Kurdish population in a heartbeat, given the opportunity.

Why The United States Is the Fourth Reich

US President Trump’s declaration last week before the UN to “totally destroy” North Korea and his general ranting about American military might is on par with the Nazi Third Reich’s invocation of “Total War”.

The ease with which Trump and his senior officials talk about “military options” towards North Korea, and any other defiant nation, is arguably not just a violation of the UN Charter but also the principles of international law established at the Nuremberg Trials of Nazi leaders. Any use or threat of war that is not a clear act of self-defense is “aggression”.

Raimondo: Propaganda and the Catalonian Referendum

The laziness of journalists is legendary. Especially these days, when the line between journalist and propagandist has been blurred, the many ways in which these scribblers take shortcuts and otherwise seek to make their jobs less strenuous have been greatly increased. While outright plagiarism used to be the favored method, with the advance of technology this has become much easier to detect, and so the self-indulgent scribe has moved on other, less obvious shortcuts. The substitution of opinion for the reporting of facts is one way to fill up a page, and, in tandem with this, the adoption of a formula is now a mainstay of “mainstream” journalism. This is unashamedly borrowed from those writers of pure fiction who labor in the fields of various sub-literate genres – say, pornography – and must churn out large quantities of product in order to pay the rent. >>>

How to Bring Down the Elephant in the Room

For some this bumping will happen earlier in the list, for others a little later down the list, but the list will be more or less the same for everybody. Proper etiquette, atleast in the West, would want to make us run away from this topic. I won’t. Why? Well, for one thing I am constantly accused of not discussing this elephant. Furthermore, I am afraid that the role this elephant is playing is particularly toxic right now. So let me try to deal with this beast, but first I have to begin with some caveats.

FEMA Director Urges Americans to Develop “a true culture of preparedness” But No One Is Listening

It looks like preppers aren’t that crazy after all. FEMA’s new director, Brock Long, has repeatedly said that Americans do not have a “culture of preparedness,” something that is much-needed with the startling uptick in natural disasters. Long has only been the director of FEMA since June 20 of this year and already has had to deal with a historic number of disasters in this short period of time. Perhaps this reality is why Mr. Long is so adamant that Americans need to get prepared to take care of themselves and that we need to raise our children to understand this too. That’s not the warm fuzzy thing that people who refuse to prepare want to hear, so the mainstream media gives his advice little attention. A culture of preparedness is indeed the answer, and preppers have known this for a very long time.
